Hey you have invited me to Wikipedia:teahouse. Thanks. I have a question. First of all I'm not a troll(don't know). I didn't know what was vandalizing until I was looking @ dictionary. Stasi HQ picture

Stasi Headquarters in Berlin

I removed this image you added on 10 September 2011 because it is rather dubious. It looks a like a generic Plattenbau, that could be anywhere in East Germany or the Eastern bloc for that matter. The image itself has no information on the location where it was taken. It could very well be a hoax. --bender235 (talk) 11:07, 12 July 2014 (UTC)

Hello Missvain, William Wolfskill probably deserves the title of first commercial winemaker in California, as he got started nearly 20 years before Buena Vista and Agoston Haraszthy. Interestingly, George C. Yount, founder of Yountville, was a member of Wolfskill's very early expedition from New Mexico to California. Wine was made at the missions for "religious" purposes starting in the 1770s. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 06:09, 23 July 2014 (UTC)

Hi Missvain. I've seen your user name twice today, both times in my neck of the woods: Fetters Hot Springs-Agua Caliente and the Napa Sonoma Marsh. Your draft article, Draft:Puttenahalli Lake

Hello Missvain. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Puttenahalli Lake".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Draft:Puttenahalli Lake}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save page", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. JMHamo (talk) 21:21, 28 July 2014 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Lone Buffalo Winery label.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Lone Buffalo Winery label.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 08:42, 29 July 2014 (UTC)

SantaCafe

Thanks for cleaning up (and creating) Santacafé! It was not my intention to accuse you of COI or anything. Actually, I have sort of a COI, since I did some extremely minor ad-work for the place a few years ago. That's all in the past, but it made it hard for me to judge how significant the restaurant actually is. My gut was telling me the place was notable, but that's not really enough to go on, y'know? Anyway, it's all moot now, and the article looks much better. Thanks again! Grayfell (talk) 21:07, 31 July 2014 (UTC)

SilhouetteFX Article

Hi Missvain,

Thank you for the edits of the new SilhouetteFX article. As the author of most of the article I wholeheartedly endorse them. If I might add some insight into why the sections you removed existed in the first place, it might help editors understand motivation of inexperienced authors. I added the sections on jobs and training because I didn't know how else to respond to the criticism that the subject of the article wasn't notable. My thinking was along the lines of 'if Silhouette was not notable, there wouldn't be emphasis on training or job placement in the marketplace.' Anyway, I wasn't entirely comfortable with the sections either. I thank you for your thoughtful edits and thank wikipedia for adopting the article. Thanks again. Articles_for_creation/Ronald_L._Mondrush https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Ronald_L._Mondrush. Thank you for your help and review. We have been working on this article for some time now. Perhaps you can be of more help in our efforts? Here is a quick synopsis of our plan. Ron Mondrush built a company that built things, mostly automobile concept models. If I could include the pictures I have been trying to upload the story would be more easily understood. But sadly they keep getting road blocked. Nevertheless, his company, Synthetex, built many full-size working car models for Ford, Chrysler, AMC, Renault, Nissan and more. The way it worked was that the designers created a design with drawings and sketches, Ron and Synthetex then interpreted these designs and built models. Then the company would present it as their future concept idea. Synthetex was a 'back stage' part of the process. Ron and his company was not expected to 'blow their own horn'. Now, many years later, the Synthetex contribution to the auto company product development process has been lost, as has many of the images portraying the past future concepts. Our efforts are to place this article into Wikipedia to fill-in pieces of this puzzle. But being behind the scenes, Ron Mondrush and Synthetex have not had the limelight as the designers and car companies have, thus the lack of notability. Any ideas? Thanks again Ronald L. August 16, 2014 Dear Missvain,

Could you kindly advise me how to proceed? We are attempting to enter information about a regional history book but have not been accepted after several tries and adjustments suggested by various Wiki editors. the book is a valid and significant history and should be listed. Here is the address of the current "sandbox" version: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:Wikisjt3/sandbox

Could you kindly review it? We would appreciate anything you could suggest to would lead to the entry of our article on Wiki.

For your convenience here is the beginning text of the article:

A printed, hardbound history book created on the one hundred fiftieth year anniversary of a United States of America, pre-Civil War, Roman Catholic church located in the north Alabama city of Huntsville.

“A Mighty Fortress of Faith - A History of St. Mary of the Visitation Church 1861-2011” 1st edition[1]

It is a United States of American regional history book depicting the establishment of a mission church in southern North America. (end of lead-in text.)

Either way - could you kindly acknowledge this?

Wikisjt3 (talk) 05:50, 16 August 2014 (UTC)

Hello Wikisjt3. Let me express an opinion as a friendly "talk.page stalker": I do not believe that this book is a notable book as Wikipedia defines that term, and therefore, Wikipedia should not have an article aboiut it. The most recent reviewer, DGG, is a professional librarian and quite skilled in assessing the notability of books. The letter from the retired Pope, though I am sure it must have thrilled people associated with the parish, does not establish notability. It is a primary source. Now, if a major newspaper or magazine wrote about the Pope's letter, and discussed the book in detail, that would help establish notability. We are looking most of all for detailed reviews in independent, reliable sources. Also, extensive library holdings. Literary awards. Use in college courses. Citations by other authors. Adaptation as a film, TV show or play. All those things are lacking here. Not every worthy book is notable enough for a Wikipedia article. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 06:31, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
Dear Cullen328 - please see my request on your talk page. Thanks Wikisjt3 (talk) 03:51, 17 August 2014 (UTC)

Point of grammar

On Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/El Dorado Kitchen, you said "I'm inherently bias as I'm the person who wrote the article." You are not bias. Bias as a noun means a particular tendency or inclination, especially one that prevents unprejudiced consideration of a question; prejudice. You are not the tendency. You may be subject to the tendency.

Bias as a verb means to cause partiality or favoritism in (a person); influence, especially unfairly which is what you appear to be trying to communicate has happened.

To be correct, you would say "I'm inherently biased.." using the past participle tense of the verb "bias" as the object of the verb "to-be" meaning you are subject to that partiality. A participle is a verb that modifies a noun. In this case, the verb is bias, and the noun is you.

Hope this helps. The Dissident Aggressor 16:49, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

Hello Missvain. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Smash Into Pieces".

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Smash Into Pieces}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save page", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 04:04, 2 October 2014 (UTC)

Can we take down the box now on Otis College?

I fixed some of the footnotes and I see that others have also. --Sue Maberry (talk) 22:51, 6 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi there User:Maberry. THanks for your work on the article. I did have to remove a number of external links - I suggest folks follow the WP:EXTERNAL guidelines. I also had to remove some rather promotional and uncited material, like " Its students come from 39 states and 26 countries, and mirror the world as well as the emerging work place." Uncited numbers (without a reliable source) and statements like "mirror the world" and "emerging work place "are puffy and promotional in nature. THe article should be as boring as possible, it's not meant to be an advertisement for the school, but just a boring encyclopedia article. I appreciate your work of course - and I hope the other people who edit that article stop adding promotional material to it. I have it on my watchlist and won't hesitate to remove any promo stuff I see - I'm sure I could clean up more but right now I can't. Happy editing! :) Missvain (talk) 23:18, 6 October 2014 (UTC)

Should you resign from your adminship position and stand for reconfirmation?

With the paid editing fiasco and all, will you be willing to be reconfirmed? Grognard Chess (talk) Help:Getting rid of Media Viewer 01:29, 7 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Martti Jukola, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page WSOY. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Kathe Burkhart

Hey there. I think Kathe Burkhart is an interesting artist and wanted to mention her to you. There are plenty of sources if you wish to expand the article. If you're busy with other things, no worries. --Rosiestep (talk) 02:37, 31 October 2014 (UTC)

Anglian things

Hi Sarah, you approved Anglian Home Improvements at AfC. Isn't this kind of a content fork of Anglian Windows? i.e. the same company but without some of the reliably sourced criticism? --Demiurge1000 (talk) 20:57, 6 November 2014 (UTC)

Hi...I don't even remember this article, and I most have approved it during my heyday of AfC editing. I don't really care about the outcome of it, and I have no clue if it's the same company - I don't live in the UK and have never used it's services. Sorry if this isn't too helpful - I have no investment in this article and don't really have any feelings about the outcome of the merge. Missvain (talk) 20:59, 6 November 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for helping me to continue editing on Wikipedia. I hope to work on more women's biographies - after figuring out how to make this WikiLove thingy. Rosalthe (talk) 18:33, 12 November 2014 (UTC)

I think I'll use your user talk page as a template for mine. I like the "drama llama." It's cute, in its own toothy way. Rosalthe (talk) 18:38, 12 November 2014 (UTC)

User:Rosalthe - This is an amazing and meaningful wikilove gift. Thank you! I added the drama llama to the top of your talk page - feel free to remove it if you want :) Missvain (talk) 21:03, 12 November 2014 (UTC)

Deleted article question

Hey Missvain. You deleted my article about Joseph Janus due to G12 infringement for info taken from Fearless management. Joseph is the owner and creator of that site, so what proof/release do I need to obtain from him in order to allow his article to be published and not deleted? Sorry for all the questions, I am very new at all this. Thank you! LaurenSullygirl (talk) 15:47, 13 November 2014 (UTC)

Hi User:LaurenSullygirl, I don't edit Wikipedia that often these days due to other Wikimedia projects I am working on, so you can find faster and more attentive help if you go to the WP:TEAHOUSE. You can review how to contribute donated materials Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials via this link. If you want your article to be undeleted, after you review and proceed with having Joseph Janus release the material, then you can do that via this link. Remember, if you work for or are affiliated with Joseph Janus then you should not write an article about him or his company or whatever. That is a conflict of interest and against policy. Sorry to be so short - I just got to work and wanted to try to help a bit before diving into the grant writing mines of my day job. Again, do check out the Teahouse - the folks there are friendly and can help you with your issues quickly (I know, I co-created the Teahouse :) ) - Missvain (talk) 16:40, 13 November 2014 (UTC)

Hey Missvain, No problem at all! Thank you for the quick response, I will look into all of this. Once again thank you for taking the time to help me and good luck with the grant writing. Best wishes, Lauren LaurenSullygirl (talk) 17:31, 13 November 2014 (UTC)

Hello Missvain. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.

The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.

If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)

If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.

Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.

I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).

Drama llama

You might want to apologize and retract THIS unambiguous legal threat. Carrite (talk) 15:23, 26 November 2014 (UTC)

Hi Carrite! Happy Thanksgiving - and wow, I apologize if that email came off that way. It's been a very emotional few days here in the US as you might know - especially if you are involved in social action. It's is not a legal threat. Trust me! I have had about 15-20 legal threats ("I am suing you," "My lawyer is contacting you," blahblah) sent my way since I have been editing over the past 9 years and surely this is not a legal threat :) I was asking! I apologize that it came off that way, but surely you misunderstood, and that's OK, Wikipedia is a tense place these days and I can see how that might happen. I am just genuinely curious, if anyone could ever take legal action against Wikipedia (as a concept, as a whole, individual editors) for being banned or blocked due to sexism or racism or anything like that or if someone could do that. I wasn't suggesting that it happen, nor was I suggesting anyone do it. I wish no ill will on ArbCom, I have many Wiki-friends there, I just get more anxious about anyone on Wikipedia harassing people with slurs and hurtful things. Have a great holiday! Missvain (talk) 16:41, 26 November 2014 (UTC)
Oh, and if you're worried about this statement "I have a lawyer on standby for every single threat that comes my way now on
the internet, and that includes Wikipedia - I'm not rich, but, frankly, I just can't do it alone anymore and the system isn't solving anything. From Twitter to Wikipedia, a day doesn't' go by when myself or a woman I know isn't threatened on the internet. I'm just so sick of it." That's not a threat - I have no one to threat - I'm protecting myself from people who may be violating the law when they tell me they're going to rape me, or kill me, or hurt my family - and sadly, Carrite, they have done it through Wikipedia emails. So, I have to make sure that I protect myself and my family as needed, and having legal counsel is one way I can do that, including Wikimedia Foundation legal counsel which we all have access to as contributors. Thanks for understanding, and once more, happy holidays! Missvain (talk) 16:46, 26 November 2014 (UTC)
