Ragnarok Wrestling

[edit]

I noticed that you closed the AfD for Ragnarok Wrestling but not the other article included in that AfD, Mitch Brown (wrestler). Is there a reason why not? -- Antaeus Feldspar 02:04, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I see that 4.159.253.121 (talk · contribs) illegally removed the notice on January 2nd, the second time someone from a 4.159.x.x address did that. I caught it the first time, somehow missed it the second. -- Antaeus Feldspar 02:10, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. I usually try to avoid fancy formatting but the next time I have a multi-article nomination like that I'll try to find something to make the multiple articles more prominent. -- Antaeus Feldspar 15:12, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Saugeen stripper? Where did it GO????

[edit]

You say my article stays because there was clearly no consensus, but it has disappeared? Any idea where it went? How to get it back? whats going on? Tokyojoe2002 18:13, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What is my recourse? How did you even find this info out? Is he an admin? is he higher admin than you? Why did he just trump the process like this? This doesnt seem fair? Tokyojoe2002 18:30, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your help. Seems the page is back up. Still somewhat unclear on the chain of command. Glad to see I was not alone in feeling the deletion was unwarranted and out of process. Thanks again, sorry for pestering you! Tokyojoe2002 18:43, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Did you know...

[edit]

Originally, the notation article you deleted was at N5?? I moved it, see the dis-ambiguation page's history for when. Then, I made the dis-ambiguation page, and then the notation article was removed. Isn't this unusual in Wikipedia?? Georgia guy

a little check

[edit]

Hi Mindmatrix - perhaps you could do a quick check on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Podcast Alley to make sure the close is correct as filtering out new users/GNAA etc. it is rather close (I myself voted to delete it so I don't think I am biased) WhiteNight T | @ | C 07:13, 11 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Claridge Homes

[edit]

This article, Claridge Homes, was deleted by you when you closed the afd at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Claridge Homes. It was re-created and speedied deleted. It is back again. --maclean25 02:17, 16 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Backwoods Terror

[edit]

hey why do you keep on deleting Backwoods Terror and Dr. Grim. Backwoods Terror is a movie in production and is not a "for fun" movie that is being made.

Regarding my edit: I have no idea what I was thinking when I did that. Based on this diff, maybe I edited an older version without realizing it. But yes, it was absolutely a mistake - sorry for the confusion. :) --PeruvianLlama(spit) 18:19, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kalinga Institute for Industrial Training

[edit]

Hi, Thanks for the note on this. It seems to me that KIIT is a degree-granting institution with an Master in Technology M.Tech and a 4-year Degree in Engineering (B.Tech) [1]. IBAT is the school that runs their MBA programme [2]. Personally I go for your option 1, Move to Institute of Business Administration and Training. Dlyons493 Talk 01:18, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've updated this AfD with some info, and am notifying everyone who has participated in the discussion so far. I'm doing this because I think some users have misunderstood what Ibat is. Please read my comments at the AfD, and if you wish, update your comments. Thanks! Mindmatrix 00:32, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The point is moot now as the AFD was closed (as no consensus, default to keep) before I got to it. Thanks for keeping me informed. Stifle 10:27, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Help on Canada page

[edit]

Hey Mindmatrix, I was wondering if you could help find references for the Canada page. There's a list of sections that needs references on the Talk:Canada page, and people are signing up to find references for each section. Thanks. -- Jeff3000 18:15, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Heads up

[edit]

Mind, I have had that article under semi-protection for about a week now, which is longer than semi-protection is intended for. I think that I should lift s-p tomorrow as an experiment to see if we can get back to normal editing. The article would need careful monitoring, and a willingness to return to semi-protection if disruption returns. Your thoughts? Ground Zero | t 18:14, 19 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again for your contribution to resolving this dispute. With all possible fingers crossed, I have lifted semi-protection. Regards, Ground Zero | t 18:02, 20 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I probably inflamed the situation a bit; I was in a rather foul mood that day, which is rather atypical of me. I rarely let myself react so strongly to anything. Oh well, the situation seems to be resolved, or at least much calmer... Mindmatrix 18:26, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I'm doing a survey of Wikipedia editors as part of a class research project. It's quick, anonymous, and the data will be made available to the Wikipedia community later this month. Would you like to take part? More info here. Thanks! Nonplus 01:11, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You may be interested in this article. Check the history to see who created it before I redirected it to Bombardier Advanced Rapid Transit. Regards, Ground Zero | t 19:07, 3 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Honestly, I didn't need to check the history. Such intuition seems to have become integrated in my subconscious cognitive functions. By the way, thanks for notifying me about this. Mindmatrix 18:26, 6 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Linking dates

[edit]

The MoS is wrong. If you don't link dates, they don't show up properly according to the preferences each user sets, such as one person may want to see it as April 12, but I have mine set so I see it as 12 April, for example. Ardenn 18:32, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WP:MF

[edit]

I noticed that you posted some comments at Mirrors and forks. I realize this becoming a rather big problem as Wikipedia grows, but less important as editors move away from it. I would suggest you to create individual entries to the WP:MF so future editors can send e-mail and/or DMCA requests to shut down the mirror/fork. You can help us even more by doing that exactly though: sending e-mails and/or DMCA requests. We are doing quite well with e-mails currently, but it would be great if you can help us send DMCA requests, since nobody has been able to help us with it so far. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks. -- WB 06:24, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good article? Poss. featured?

[edit]

Hello! As a Wikipedia admin, and an experienced user of the encyclopedia, I was wondering if you would give your opinion regarding the NPA Personality Theory article. Its author and myself have discussed the possibilities for what is now very much a complete article. Reading the "Good" article criteria, one can see that the article meets all of the criteria required. If you share this view then adding the "Good" article tab and perhaps giving some advice as to further improvement would be very much appreciated. The diverse nature of the subject matter could merit it a possible future featured article. Thanks a lot for your help! -- D-Katana 14:39, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Area codes

[edit]

Actually, I created redirects at all the single stand-alone area code titles, so, for example, both Area code 905 and Area code 289 exist as redirects to the Area code 905/289 title. Basically my reasoning was so that when one looks at Category:Area codes in Canada, one can see all the active area codes in Canada, instead of some being visible as titles and others existing only as hidden redirects. (Although, for what it's worth, I might have done it differently if I'd known what I know now, namely that it is possible to put a category link on a redirect page, and it will still function correctly as both a redirect and a title in the category.)

I'd be open to discussing other ways to handle them, but that was my reasoning and the single-code titles already do all exist as redirects. Bearcat 18:30, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As for the Boyd park photo, i know what you mean about the sign.. Im waiting for the weekend to end, so i can go over there to take more photos without having to pay admission. ;) Please send me a link to those articles you said i blanked. I have never removed all the content from any article on this site. im 100% sure of that. Unless you are talkin about the TALK page in one of my articles. Then yes. I removed a dumb comment made by Atrian. It made no sence. He obviously didnt read the article before posting it. If thats the blanking case that your talking about? Well now i know. Article move request

[edit]

Hey Mindmatrix. Would you mind moving Île René-Levasseur to René-Levasseur Island? The article already uses the English version of the name, but was never moved because there's a redirect at the other name. I know I could list it at WP:RM but there's a million unnecessary steps to follow, and you can do it so easily. ;-) Thanks. --NormanEinstein 13:17, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Baldwin

[edit]

Duh. Fried brain is my. Bearcat 03:18, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I thought it was still normal for us to use "Township" in the title if there was still a disambiguation requirement (such as Baldwin or Robinson, where there are submunicipal communities elsewhere in the province with the same name). If that's wrong, my apologies, but there are still quite a few cases at Category:Townships of Ontario (which, in retrospect, should also maybe be moved to "in Ontario") where "Township" is present in the title. WKR article

[edit]

Hello,

Since you are the originator of the WKR article, I wanted to suggest a name change for this article. Since CWKR its official ICAO identifier, so it would be better to use that or maybe King City (radar). What do you think?

Pierre_cb 2006-06-14 1634 GMT

All aviation sites is Canada begins with "C" according to ICAO. EC is using the shorter form without the C. Pierre_cb 2006-06-14 1734 GMT

Why not add yourself as a participant? Thanks for creating that new logo subcategory. Much appreciated! --Stephane Charette 08:33, 18 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Laskay

[edit]

A one sentance article like your Laskay page (and others) can hardly even be called a stub. You might want to think about giving someone else a chance at starting an article. Someone who actually has more then a sentance of information. I dont think its fair to other editors who go out and do research only to findout that the article has already been started by someone who has done absolutly none. This isnt a contest for who can start more articles. Grow up. 65.49.129.103 02:43, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If this isn't a contest about who starts articles, then what does it matter which stubs I create? In this case, I created stubs for all articles pertaining to the township of King, and I've been slowly adding content to them. It doesn't appear that anyone has rushed to add any content to these articles since they were created, does it? And as far as research is concerned, the only information I add to articles is that which I've researched - I spend a great deal of time finding information and contributing it to Wikipedia. Also, note that a quick perusal of an article's history, and obtaining diffs between versions, tells you exactly what content was contributed by whom, so it's not as if the article's creator is taking undue credit. In short, you're entitled to your opinion, but I don't find it valid. Mindmatrix 18:43, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anti-Canadianism

[edit]

I get why you took the link I added off the Canada Day page, but I think it was rather unfair to remove it from anti-Cnadianism. I believe it puts anti-Cnadianism in context and really adds something to this page. Tearfree 13:45, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I have to admit that I only looked at the diff, and when I saw him put Serbia under "KSA", I thought he was putting things out of order, because for whatever reason I was thinking "South Korea" for KSA. I hang my head in shame... :) -- Deville (Talk) 18:25, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

South Gwillimbury

[edit]

I have never heard of South Gwillimbury. I've seen a lot of old maps of this area as well, though more interested in York County than Simcoe. I'd be willing to bet that there has never been a South Gwillimbury. (Of course, the other Gwillimburys are West and East.) DoubleBlue (Talk) 20:18, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that it appears they have mistaken attached the South reference from Simcoe County to West Gwillimbury. The 1861 Census of Canada West shows no South Gwillimbury and the source you found relates events happening in South Gwillimbury in 1860. Cheers! DoubleBlue (Talk) 21:58, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Page Moves

[edit]

Thanks for the link, and any cleanups you can do there, I was just flailing around in the dark there, running around in circles trying to read how to do something. As I stated, they shouldn't have moved the pages to begin with (possibility of commercial connections between the movers and the companys behind it). I sure hope I don't have to move any more pages. That's a LOT of work :( Thanks for the help, --Ozzy 98 00:22, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yea the names seem ok, Guy is moving some stuff around too, so I'll let him handel stuff, I've made too many waves as-is. I'm still trying to find some more info on just what happened, some people seem to think the only reason he switched jobs was because the new company wanted his name, and the Ethereal name. And I've not seen anyone mention why HE doesn't own the rights to Ethereal, so it may be a case of him getting something out of giving up the name. --Ozzy 98 00:40, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Geography

[edit]

Either way is fine. The trend in geographical entries has been comma seperated text. We just moved all the New York City entries for neighborhoods to comma seperated, it was 50-50 between the two standards. We kept the parenthetical info as a redirect. Anyway most of the cemeteries I added, have been deleted.

Dont bother answering its not important. Get a life
If answering isn't important, then neither is your message. Oh, and the only people who use the statement get a life are those that know they're losing the argument.
Must suck to be a dork in real life and on the net, eh?
I must admit, you must be intellectually superior and extremely insightful to determine my true character from a small sample of my life. I wish I had those skills.
You'll never be respected
Respect is earned; whether I achieve that or not is immaterial, but I have a strong record of positive contributions here. How about you?
Dood you're retarded. How many log ins do you have?
Unlike you, I use one, and only one, account here on Wikipedia. Anything I have to say, I say it through this one account - I don't log out and post anonymously to other user's talk pages.
Half the comments on this page were probably posted by you
I have signed all comments posted by me on this page. I have no other alias here.
And King is such a small town. Almost anybody knows everybody
That's patently absurd bullshit. There are 20,000 people that live in the township (not town).
Im gonna walk around saying ur nick Mindmatrix all over the place...
And you think I'm the dork?
and one day ill get you to slip up
What does that mean? I'm far too rational, and think through my actions, to fall for any sophomoric stunt.
And when i do.. I will stick MY nose in your business.. But when i do.... You wont be makin anymore edits for a while.
Nothing you do or say is going to affect my life, or how I conduct it, in any way. I am not a weak-minded fool that submits to the whims of an anonymous troll.
I will stick MY nose in your business

Like making edits to my USER page'.. (excuse the intrusion he says) Are you retarded? Who asked you bro? Turn off the comp and go outside for a bit. You've been indoors for too long. Where ever i got i run into you. So let me say this real slow so you can understand.. Wikipedia is not my entire life like you. Keep your dumbass edits to yourself. Take a hint. I dno how tough you think you are, but you're dealing with some serious people here. And i really dont wanna have to resort to using the reverse directory. I hear they do IP's and phone numbers now. ;) But if you EVER use MY name again, i will. Im here to have some fun and add some info to wiki. NOT to listen to you talk. I have to listen to the woman all week (you wouldnt know anything about that anyway) and i wanna take some time off and enjoy my wikihobby. EVERY SINGLE article ive started ive seen you making completly pointless edits. You must be sick. Do you really think im some computer nerd that spend his entire life makin edits and spelling corrections on wikipedia? HAHA Or mabey you think im a trash talker.? Either or, if you think im affreid of prison or of you belive me IM NOT. Ill go back to jail, and ill wake up every morning smiling, knowing you're in a hospital paralized from the neck down and learning how to eat solid foods and to walk again. Now Please! Hurry up and post another one of your administrator wannabe messeges here, ohhhK? Ill show you civil you clueless little punk. F*CK YOU! <--- Is this clear enough for you.? P*ssy.

—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 65.49.129.103 (talkcontribs) .

The word is pussy. Are you too afraid to spell a simple word?
Now, since you've been posting on my talk page as an anonymous editor, with IP 65.49.129.103, I know I haven't used your name before. However, if you're a registered Wikipedia user, then why are you so afraid of posting using your account? Also, what I do with my personal time is my business; you don't get a say in the issue. Period.
By the way, since you clearly don't understand how reverse directories work - you can't look up Mindmatrix to get a phone number. Seriously. Surprising as it may seem, Mindmatrix is not my real name, it's not my IP, it's just an alias. And in any event, I haven't had a phone (landline or cell) for years. Saves me plenty of money! And wherever I go, there's a phone right there - no big loss, huh?
I'll make one promise to you - I'll never edit your userpage again. As for articles, they can be edited, by anyone at anytime, and that's not going to change. Nobody owns articles on Wikipedia. Deal with it.
I don't particularly care for your interest in Schadenfreude, but thanks for mentioning it. Mindmatrix 00:02, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Im writing under a different name now as you can see. Im here to apologize for the previous posts you received. And im sorry for calling you annoying earlier. Im not a real internet savy person, i sleep all day and work all nite. So i use the comp at work when i have some free time, just to wikisurf. But i leave my desk often. I realized that one of my idotic co-workers was playin a game with the two of us. Mabey trying to pit us against each other. I received some messeges with your nick which i thought were rude and i deleted them and its obviouse that you received messeges that were meant to look like they came from me. Well, this is quite embarrassing but i fell for it hook line and sinker like the dumb son of a trout that i am. But id like to think that im man enough to apologize when im the reason for the chaos. I hope you understand and you can forgive me im sure it wont happen again couse ive changed my name and password and i will always log out when i leave the comp. I noticed something was wrong when i got your last messege about the picture. I was quite shocked when i saw that dead rat photo and it said it was posted my me.! I did take the picture, but it wasnt meant for you. I was having a smoke outside the shop and saw it so i took a pic. :S Yea i know, THATS retarded LMAO. But i know who it was that was messing with my account and leaving you these STUPID and Unfair comments. SOo Im rambling now i know.... But i really dont mind if you like to remove the KingHorn cemetery article. I do know many people who like to visit OLD CEMETERIES so that why i posted it. I was gonna post some more too. I know it might be kind of morbid but for europeans like me there arnt many old things to admire here in Canada and the cemeteries are quite common and interesting to us/me.. LMAO Talk about rambling. I almost got into a fight with RZA the iranian prick that was leaving all this nonsence on both our pages so im a little steamed.. plz forgive the bad spelling. I appreciate the fact that you took the time to edit some things on my page THANK YOU. Im still new. But im getting the hang of it daily. I hope this didnt create any hurt feelings between us... I actually think a prank like this is quite funny, as long as i NEVER fall for it again.. Anyhooo.. Hope ill see you around again. Please disregard the comments i made on the claireville article, the stuff about you beeing annoying and getting you **** wet. This was before i found out about the set up by the clowns here at my work. Ok I think i should get back to work for a bit now. Again.. i hope you can forgive me, im quite embarrassed by this whole outcome. I was walking around throwing things untill they told me the jig was up. lol. Take Care. Hi, I was wondering why you named the article this way. According to StatsCan, the township is called Dysart and Others, whereas according to Ontario GeoNames, it's called Dysart. I'm not sure which one is correct, but I don't think the current title is. Any ideas? Mindmatrix 23:51, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

The website of Dysart is: < http://www.dysartetal.ca/ > I was in the Village of Haliburton on July 8, 2006 and the Highway sign on Hwy 121 reads: Dysart et al.

Minden is apart from "et al."

Webster's definition of <et al> is <and others>.

I was wondering why Wikipedia calls the <Village of Haliburton> the <Town of Haliburton> when there is nothing to suggest, not even a Highway sign, that Haliburton, was ever a town.

On the other hand Wikipedia Users have shown Lake of Bays as a Township in the Muskoka District Municipality, however Lake of Bays is a body of water within the Township of Lake of Bays, which incidently is in the District Municipality of Muskoka (official title). I thought of correcting that too, however, it would likely be easier to find in Wikipedia if the word Muskoka came first.

Furthermore you probably know I can't spell worth a shit, but researching history is NOT a matter of CUT and PASTE. I find it amazing, the number people i.e. Wiki Users contributing to Head River (Ontario) Head Lake (Ontario) and Black River (Ontario) think that the Black river flows into Lake Couchiching which it does not!

I posted the article on Dysart et al, Ontario as an addition to the article on Canadian Land and Emigration Company which contains a Wiki Link to Longford, Ontario yet I have not completed the link to Longford Mills, Ontario and Rama Timber Transport Company, for which I have also had to make alterations to Ramara, Ontario.

Latley I have been fixing things in Northern Ontario Nakina, Ontario and Grant, Ontario. Everything in history is connected and if it is not, did it really happen?

All of the contributions of Wrecksdale Wreck, are carefully researched by Brian Westhouse, of Rexdale.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Wrecksdale_Wreck (talkcontribs) .

Bradford & BWG

[edit]

Hi MM - I have noticed that you tagged Bradford, Ontario as needing cleanup. I'd like to help, but are there guidelines and/or a template that should be followed for towns such as this? Please advise. PKT 13:46, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I got your note, and I think I'll answer my own question - what I was looking for was a list of headings and topics that ought to be considered for towns and cities. I found that Toronto is considered an official 'Good Article' in Wikipedia, so that will be my template. I have started to apply it to Bradford and others. PKT 21:05, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Armstrong, Ontario

[edit]

How do I establish a page for the CNR divisional point: Armstrong, Ontario, without disturbing the page for Armstrong Township, Ontario, now shown as Armstrong, Ontario? Armstrong, Ontario, the village was a divisional point on the National Transcontinental Railway, like Cochrane, Hearst, Grant and Sioux Lookout and this Armstrong requires a page of its own to link with these pages.

Ritual of the Calling of the Engineer Stamp image

[edit]

Regarding the stamp image, I don't have one without the flash - obviously if I had one I would have posted that. The exhibit was protected by a pane of glass, and while I was taking the picture I tried to minimize the strobe by placing it in an non-essential location. It's not like I had a tripod handy at the museum you know.

By the way, there is a zoomed version here, which had its strobe cropped out: 250px|left

Lists of Mayors of XXXXX, Ontario

[edit]

Hello again MM! Thanks for changing 'Kleinberg' to a redirect. New item (at least, one that I've just noticed)......there are several categories entitled, for instance, List of mayors of Markham, Ontario They are gathered together in Category:Mayors of places in Ontario, and in my 'umble opinion they should be subcategories entitled "Mayors of XXXXX, Ontario", rather than 'Lists of Mayors of.....' as they now are. As I am still a rather new Wikipedian, I'm looking for guidance as to what ought to happen to make the pages for Mayors more consistent PKT 17:36, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

(copying your message) I've undone your merge of this article to Celebration of Light because the latter is but one of a number of such events, and isn't even the original. Celebration of Light is specific to Vancouver, and has nothing to do with the others, except for sharing some history from a previous sponsor. I'll re-work this article to reflect current affairs. Sorry about that. Both Symphony of Fire and Celebration of Light were listed for cleanup and I encountered them almost one after the other. Stargate Wars

[edit]

Hi there.

On the first of January, 2006, you deleted an article titled Stargate Wars (see here for deletion log). Please note that I am not messaging you in order to argue for/against the deletion. Rather, I am contacting you in order to ask whether or not it is possible to retrieve the source code from either the version which you deleted, or the earlier version, deleted by someone else.

I am setting up my own StargateWars wiki for the StargateWars administrators (StargateWars - henceforth referred to as SgW - is an online game), and would like the original article code so that I can simply copy and paste into the new wiki.

Thanks very much,

I noticed that you removed my edits that added compare prices linke for a number of Canon cameras. I'm not clear why this isn't relevant content. Pronto crawls the web for all sellers of the product online, as opposed to other comparison shopping sites that include only paid sponsors. If a user is on this page, there's a very valid need to understand how much the product costs. Doesn't it make sense to include the ability to check prices? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Togilvie (talkcontribs)

Dreadhead deletion

[edit]

According to the Wikipedia:Notability (people) article, one of the criteria for inclusion is a "A large fan base, fan listing or "cult" following" and "Name recognition" all of which Dreadhead has in the Indianapolis Colts community. The Dreadhead appears in the team's opening video, in the program and on the big screen as "AAA - Fan of Game," in addition to his weekly occurences on the big screen in RCA Dome. In the Indianapolis community, the Dreadhead has been recognized on countless occasions, and in his former college community of Muncie, IN. He has also appeared on several Colts Caravan promotional tour stops, recognizable as such.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Oshaberi (talkcontribs)

Deletion of The Bug Radio

Hi Mindmatrix,

You recently closed the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/The_Bug_Radio

Please can you tell me why you closed the discussion. Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion#What_to_do_after_an_AfD_discussion_has_passed_with_a_confirmationstates the discussion period should be around five days. As the creater of this article I had no time to respond. Please state your reasons for closing the discussion so quickly. -- Flutefluteflute Talk Contributions 16:08, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK I've done abit more research, it seems you were permitted to close the discussion as it was tagged for "speedy" deletion but Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion says:

Blatant advertising. Pages which exclusively promote a company, product, group or service and which would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Note that simply having a company, product, group or service as its subject does not qualify an article for this criterion: an article that is blatant advertising should have inappropriate content as well.

To me the article I wrote was In no way promoting anything. It mentioned things like firmware that wasn't working very well and some other negative information. When first created it was very promotive but that was quickly edited into a neutral version. Please respond ASAP.-- Flutefluteflute Talk Contributions 16:17, 30 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps I could have left it as a regular AFD, but lines such as "The Bug was born of the award winning PURE Digital engineering pedigree and a great design from Wayne Hemingway" seem rather spammy to me. Further, the subject isn't well-known by google, netting less than 350 hits. While this isn't a hard rule, if google doesn't know much about something, especially commercial products, then they simply aren't encyclopedic. I was simply short-circuiting the process to its likely end, with consideration to what I've already written here. If you'd like to dispute this, you can do so at Wikipedia:Deletion review. They may restore the AFD on procedural grounds, but I think the end result will be the same. Mindmatrix 17:43, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about clobbering your comment on Talk:Canada East. It was sloppy editing on my part. WP:CSD#A2 deletions

[edit]

I noticed that you recently deleted a couple of foreign language articles citing this criterion, although the article in question was not a direct copy of a foreign Wikipedia article. The articles were tagged by sockpuppets of a cleanup troll, who has been making the translation board practically unusable by tagging pages for speedy deletion faster than our translators can check them out. As the cleanup troll changes username after every edit, it is extremely hard to fight this behaviour, although I am now trying by help of CheckUser. Anyway, I have restored the (probably useless article) Horní Jiřetín; could you give it the usual two weeks? Thank you, Kusma (討論) 08:24, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that - I usually check the history for articles before deleting them, to make sure that I don't inadvertently delete articles nominated under suspicious circumstances; I obviously messed up on this one. I'll be more prudent with A2 articles from now on, and keep an eye on the translation page while processing them. Thanks for alerting me to this. Mindmatrix 14:11, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I want to stop Wikipedia working? Not a chance! Rather, I want to remove spamlinks from Wikipedia. You've submitted quite a few links to that site, which essentially consists of one photograph of the subject, a google map with no zoom, and multiple ads - that looks like spam to me. Mindmatrix 20:24, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"You've submitted quite a few links to that site" I spent 10 minutes for each of the links! is it spamming?

What? " a google map with no zoom," really? when u click on each link at the first will show you the location on the map with zoom out, there is some text on top of map (zoom) if you click on this, it will zoom to the map.

check it and explain me...—Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.198.21.82 (talkcontribs)

The amount of time you spend adding links doesn't determine whether those links are spam or not; the links you are adding provide no information beyond what's already in the articles:
  • the articles already have photographs of the subject, so one photo on your page isn't worth much
  • the articles already have, or will have, location information attached to them - this info is linked to a Wikimedia mapping directory linking to dozens of maps (see the one for Toronto, for example - the Google Maps link is first)
In essence, there is no additional value to the links you add. (Aside: I meant that the map you provide is at the lowest zoom setting, and the user has to actually zoom in to the location, instead of already being there when clicking the link. However, the point is moot for the other reasons I've cited) Mindmatrix 19:42, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

could you please respond to this? i was hoping you could place a link to my page under the PS4 article. i place all information on the PS4 there as soon as i find it and i look several times a week. i'm the closest thing to an expert on the 8th gen you are going to find on wikipedia and my user page may be the best article on it you will find on the web. this isn't pride or conceit, its simply me being way over obsessive. J.L.Main 00:43, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
There were numerous articles created for this product - PS4, PlayStation 4, Playstation 4 etc. Regarding Sony's claims, they are general, and show no definitive intention of creating the product (at least, not according to the cursory internet search I conducted). If you can find salient detail from reliable sources, please list them on the appropriate talk page, and also cite your concerns. I don't particularly care about this, so I'll leave it to admins that have an interest in this topic to debate the merits of re-instating or unprotecting this article. If you prefer, you may take it directly to deletion review, though that would entail restoring a poor article. Mindmatrix 22:54, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

On the porch

[edit]

Hi there. I noticed that you intend to clean up Front porch and back porch (on your todo page, via Special:Whatlinkshere/Front porch). I don't know much about this, but I'd like to start by merging the articles, since they discuss the same topic. I had initially moved one to Porch (broadcasting), but reverted myself since that may not be entirely accurate. My question is this: what would be an appropriate name to which these can be merged? Would Porch (video) be intuitive? Mindmatrix 20:10, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, what I was thinking was that several articles (those listed in my todo list (and I just added some more)) were all short articles -- barely more than dictdefs. Yet they all have a common theme -- they are all concerned with the signals that get fed into a CRT. I was thinking they could all be merged into one larger article, with a title such as CRT signalling or something like that. Such an article could address such the concepts as a cohesive whole, rather than a bunch of disjointed definitions. But I never went anywhere with the idea, obviously. --DragonHawk 04:26, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There's no mistake - I've deleted an article about a blog that has 20 entries, starting from October 2006, and for which no metrics exist that I could find to support your claim. Moreover, a google search indicates that the term returns many hits, but they are predominantly not related to that blog. That you find the blog notable is one thing, but that it should be included in Wikipedia is quite another. If this is not a sufficient explanation, or if you still disagree with me, please take it to Wikipedia:Deletion review. Mindmatrix 19:32, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You should provide better information than "my article". How do you expect me to find "your article" among the 1.5 million on Wikipedia, or the thousands I've edited. Perusing your talk page, you probably mean Jill Foucher or Jamie Najera - in which case all I can tell you is to learn the difference between an encyclopedia and MySpace. Life stories about any individual, no matter how good that person is, simply isn't encyclopedic on its own (see criteria for speedy deletion and What Wikipedia is not). Also, there must be relevant, reliable information about the individual from independent sources. I'm sorry if this seems harsh, but unfortunately, not everyone is "notable" or encyclopedic.
