Steven Arnold (footballer)
A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Steven Arnold (footballer), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}. Videmus Omnia Talk 00:11, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
Images
Hi. As far as I know, there's no way to block someone from uploading images. (It's either all or nothing.) So I would try again using both the "upload file" link in the toolbox (at the left) and the "file upload wizard" link in the interaction box (also at the left). If you can't get it to work, email the image to me and leave a note on my talk page that you sent an email, and I'll upload it for you. OK? -- But|seriously|folks 16:55, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
- As you figured out, Wikipedia usernames don't work at Commons, so you have to register there as well. I checked the license tag against the Flickr site and you have the right one. You should revise the image summary to indicate that you edited the image out from the original image, because another person looking at the original might not recognize that yours came from it. But other than that, it looks just right to me. Good work! -- But|seriously|folks 17:35, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Just so you know, we pretty much can't use fair use images to show living people. So the Craig Farrell image from the magazine cover can't be used the way it's being used. -- But|seriously|folks 19:41, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use Image:Craig_farrell_match_programme.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Craig_farrell_match_programme.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. But|seriously|folks 19:41, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Notability of Bert Brenen
A tag has been placed on Bert Brenen, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Someone dedicated to making your day a little bit better! 10:55, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Famous WBA supporters
I reverted your change to West Bromwich Albion F.C. and restored the famous supporters. Please could you read my comments under the 'Famous Supporters' section of the article's Talk Page. Thanks. --Jameboy 17:42, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

- Fair enough, the consensus is clearly not to have famous fans in club articles, so I have removed them from West Bromwich Albion F.C., quoting the above discussion. Each reference has been moved to the page of the celebrity supporter concerned, although I didn't bother with Eric Clapton as his "support" seemed highly dubious. --Jameboy 14:42, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Peer Review
I do plan to put the West Bromwich Albion F.C. article up for peer review fairly soon. I've been working on it for ages (thanks for noticing by the way) and it's almost in a state that I'm happy with. The history section needs some more work but other than that I think it's just tweaks. One question - would the quality of the daughter articles have any impact on the review rating for the main article? I ask because the 'History' article in particular needs a LOT of work and won't be finished any time soon. Incidentally I live about 10 minutes walk from the KitKat, which probably makes York my second team. I went to the playoff first leg, very disappointing. Cheers. --Jameboy 15:13, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

to your comment
why do you ignore the policy of wikipedia such as WP:V etcs... on the scarbrough thing when a club chairman, the bbc, the nightly news, the clubs official website, the league all state something then that is vertified infos and wins over unvertified opinion of some random dude.
you clearly don't care about the project or what reasons would you have to a) blank the blue and maroon kit which has been announced on the OFFICIAL website[1], without any reason at all b) trying to paint fans of one team of others as if they are criminals when non others even mention the fact that a handful of fans are banned, like at all clubs.
you seem to be a little boy on a power trip with edits like that, as they're utterly pointless, its on the verge of trolling. people come and put infos in and you think you can just take it off? when its on the clubs official website?.. i'm getting kinda tired of your attitude.--CalcioSalvo 12:11, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- please tell me what decent edits you make, i have yet to see one. a guy who stole others photos from around the net and was caught (and banned by an admin for) uploading them as 'his own'[2] trys to tell me what ways to edit. funny. putting little box templates on others added stuff is such 'hard work' now? oooohkay.
- you don't like me, i certainly don't like you, we get it... leave it at that. but when you go out of your way to follow me and then scrap out my edits in an attempt to antagonise then we have troubles. like blanking the clubs new officially vertified third kit because... well god knows why because you thought you'd be smart and not say reasons in the edit summary at all ( which you are supposed to ). don't yank a tigers tail if you don't want to get bit.
- if you know so much about our articles then you will see that the long featured article and the standard which is followed of Arsenal F.C. features, you guessed it, the official third kit.... explain yourself against that. i only took the more redundant old one out for space reasons, you could have easily just added the older one back but keeping the third one too if you desperately felt the old one was needed too, but no... its not a mattythewhite edit, so you hack it out... also why should york city fans be singled out and painted as criminals, when no other clubs article say things like that? yet all clubs have a handful of people banned (no mention in the Arsenal article of their banned supporters)... your explinations on that please? --CalcioSalvo 13:32, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
how are they not decent? as i said adding a little box here and illegally taking others photos as your own is not my idea of a good way. you say my edits not decent, yet i do great research, find infos, vertify everything added in the articles apropriately acording to what is said in the wikipedia rules... only to see you take it back down.
i don't know what you think and so i only go what you put in the edit summary, when you removed the third kit, you gave no reason as to why it shouldn't be there,[3] when it is in other clubs articles... so what else am i supposed to think other than its antagonism?. you say not 'every' article mentions clubs crime?... erm, don't you mean york city is the ONLY club article which paints their fans as criminals? something they're not evem notorious for.... its totally wrong and uneven, if you like to work on articles then why only have yorks fans criminal record brought up in the whole of english football?
on my old salvocalcio one i was blocked for 24 hours not a month, see for yourself on the old designated area.[4] i don't kno what or who you think i am but as you can see, i'm just me. if you wish for us to work together, then maybe discuss things thoroughly before just taking edits off?--CalcioSalvo 14:01, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
is this a joke, with this recentism talk?... that is like saying why bother having any of the official new kits up, that is just 'recentism'. when a player transfers to a new club shall we wait a couple of years to make mention of it his article so that it isn't recent?
the club cares enough to make the kits, put them in the papers, put them on the frontpage of the official site and take this seasons squad picture in them, so i'd say yes the club 'cares'.--CalcioSalvo 14:25, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- it seems that there is mostly older players who league only stats can be found, so its just a case of finding a good post-war source for league appearences to sort the rest out to match.--CalcioSalvo 18:35, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
José Enrique Sánchez
The Villarreal official website (in Spanish) confirms he has signed for Newcastle and Marca (again in Spanish) have said the same. The Newcastle official site hasn't confirmed anything yet but they are notoriously slow at putting news items up. I think it's probably safe for us to have him down as a Newcastle player. Sir-Nobby 21:15, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

Jack Collison
We need a moderator to decide this issue.
i. I claim that as Jack Collison is not listed as an official player on the West Ham website with an official squad number. He should not be added to the Current Squad. He is a youth player, and there is no way he has made the bench for the first team, and thus would rate a Squad number. I can find no website anywhere that lists him as number 39.
ii. Egghead06 claims that he was printed in last weeks programme as number 39.
We need a moderator to decide whether or not he should be added to the offial squad list on WikiPedia.

You reverted my Man City edit, saying that it "wasn't constructive"? Can you please explain why? - Thanks for the good feedback Matty. I agree on the concerts. Probably not too much work to flesh that section out; I was using the City of Manchester Stadium article as a general guideline, as it's also of GA quality. Its concert section is also fairly skimpy, but the editors there use a table to "beef it up". I'll also take a look for references inside punctuation, though I thought I'd caught all those. Cheers again. Doonhamer | Banter 21:23, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

Hello Matty Bootham Crescent I think that the people who dereamed that one up deserve a little gentle teasing and also that you should never delete material from a discussion page. i would appreciate a fresh pair of eyes on the Jon Rudkin article as i have only just created it and a clean up will probably be needed.Skitzo, co-founder of the AfTaDaRkCrU 13:49, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
i know i got the info from there but wasn't sure how to re-write it hence i asked for your opinion.Skitzo, co-founder of the AfTaDaRkCrU 13:52, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
- i have made some changes to the wording and removed so the irrelevant information, it looks neater now i think. Skitzo, co-founder of the AfTaDaRkCrU 14:00, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
I don't want to template you, you are an experienced editor. I would just like to echo a message i left on the footy talk page. The whole Giles Barnes debacle is rapidly becoming an edit war. I have cleaned the article up and will keep them in my watchlist. looking at the article history though i think you may have, or will soon, cross the WP:3RR boundary. Being mindful of bugzilla:9213, the anon may not have got the warnings on his talk page. I have left a link in the article history for him to follow if that is the case. Just be careful you don't get yourself blocked over this. As i stated on the WP:FOOTY talk page we only have to wait until midnight and all rumours should stop. If the time period weren't so short i would pu in a request at WP:RFPP. Wishing you well... Woodym555 20:02, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Just for you, [6] and BBC both confirm it's perm deal. Govvy 11:02, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Blimey, I'm confused! :-) Personally I'd be inclined to leave Gerry Baker as it is until such time as anyone decides to make a page on any of the others, and redirect Gerard Baker to it, but then I'm lazy ;-) ChrisTheDude 16:26, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, looking at those other articles I think Gerry Baker needs to be a dab page (to which Gerrard Baker should re-direct given that at least two of them were called Gerrard). I would suggest using Gerry Baker (English footballer born 1938) and Gerry Baker (American footballer born 1938) but that makes it sound like the latter played gridiron, so I guess we're left with Gerry Baker (soccer player) for the one born in the USA....... Mr Crane
Hi, see WP:NOTE. It says that there must be reliable sources independent of the subject discussing the subject. You've not listed any.--Rambutan (talk) 15:13, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
- It's not a reliable source.--Rambutan (talk) 15:19, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Excellent - the Beeb is reliable. You still need to wait for an admin to delete the {{csd}} tag now, though.--Rambutan (talk) 15:23, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Notability of John Forrest (footballer)
A tag has been placed on John Forrest (footballer) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay.
--Bentalk 09:22, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

reflist calls
Hey... just to respond to your edit to Sam Sodje, there's no policy that says that {{reflist}} should be used in preference to <div class="references-small"><references /></div>
. It's left down to individual editor preference. As such, you shouldn't really be making edits purely to change from one to the other. robwingfield «T•C» 20:20, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
Image source problem with Image:Antigua and Barbuda FA.gif
This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Antigua and Barbuda FA.gif. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:28, 7 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Hello on the squad list there has been a number of reserve and youth players added to the article as official players with squad numbers, should this be removed? The sunder king 08:58, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- Im not sure, but they are on the sunderland website, the first team page, i would assume they are fine. --Sunderland06 20:24, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Hey Matty, can you spare ten minutes and criticise/support/oppose List of Ipswich Town F.C. managers which is at WP:FLC at the moment? No real rush, just wanted to draw your attention to it. Cheers! The Rambling Man 16:50, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for that - both of your suggestions have been implemented. Yes - it's relatively straightforward as long as you can reliably source it - I found Soccerbase to be severely lacking on managers more than ten or so years back... The Rambling Man 17:16, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
- Cool - fixed too. Yeah, I'm lucky that the guy who runs the Pride of Anglia site is a pathological Town fan - he's got scans of newspaper clipping reports of 1938 matches, incredible. Well, let me know if I can be of assistance for the YCFC Manager push, even if it's just a moderate peer review...! The Rambling Man 17:24, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm, good spot on Ferguson's link too... thanks! The Rambling Man 17:58, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
