License tagging for Image:Lloydwashday.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Lloydwashday.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Squad templates
Good work on patrolling the templates and making some good edits. But I have to ask - why add two dashes to numberless players?
-- SLUMGUM yap stalk 22:29, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
I don't know why I add the dashes. I guess I saw it once and decided to use it.
Nice signature. Slumgum T. C. 23:13, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
I've just noticed you are putting extra Liverpool F.C. links into infoboxes of various players. Wikipedia does have a policy about not linking the same phrase over and over within an article, and so the infoboxes were formatted with only one Liverpool F.C. link on purpose. It'd be cool if you could revert all the boxes you edited, cheers, aLii 16:05, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
International Squad Templates
Just said I would tell you about this. A trend has started on wikipedia lately of doing each country's world cup squad going back for years. This is turning into a bit of a problem as certain players have played in numerous world cups. Just look at Paolo Maldini
My solution is redoing these international templates with a "Hide" features. I've done a very basic job on one of them below.
{{World Cup Squads}}
I'm not as yet able to add the country's flags or increase the size of the writing. I'm not able to change the colour of "Hide" either. Just wondering if you want to have a go at improving it so it can be used in articles ?
If you want to contribute please post your replies at the discussion section at Template:World Cup Squads as there could be a number of people contributing to this.
Thanks

You don't seem to use the edit summary ever. It would be useful to other Wikipedians that you always fill in this box so we can check out watchlist and see exactly what you've done. Thank you. - T. Moitie 12:52, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Cudicini.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Cudicini.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Very good idea. I have replied in it. -- MATTYTHEWHITE yap stalk 3/8/06
Hi there - I've checked Google News and I can't find any reference to him moving to Birmingham - not even a rumour, let alone confirmation. Are you sure you haven't confused him with Sebastian Larsson, another Arsenal loanee? I've reverted your changes to the relevant articles for now. Qwghlm 10:18, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
Oh, look on one of the articles on the Birmingham City official site, heres the link: http://www.blues.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Home/0,,10412,00.html. It mentions Nicklas Bendtner making a loan move there. -- MATTYTHEWHITE yap stalk 4/8/06
- Ah, thanks for that. It's also been announced on the Arsenal website now; sorry for jumping the gun but there was no inkling the deal was going to happen... Qwghlm 16:36, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
Thats alright mate. -- MATTYTHEWHITE yap stalk 4/8/06
everton squad template
the dutch "van" is rather tricky. Andy van der Meyde is correct but when you remove the "Andy" then Van der Meyde is correct see Van (Dutch) SenorKristobbal 13:49, 11 August 2006 (UTC)
Oh. I see. I guess the Dutch templates will need a lot of changing to them then, changing the vans to Vans. -- MATTYTHEWHITE yap stalk 11/8/06

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Reina jose lfc profile 2005.jpg)
This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Reina jose lfc profile 2005.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Ytny 02:27, 17 August 2006 (UTC)
Your image uploads
I noticed that you marked photographs of footballers as {{sportsposter}}. This is incorrect, as it only applies to posters of sporting events, not photographs of athletes. Also, fair use (probably) does not apply on these photos. Please correct the license information or remove the photographs. Thanks. Ytny 02:33, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

Managers on Squad Templates
It is a good idea to include managers on squad templates as they are just as much a part of the squad as the player is. International managers are included on tournament squad templates so why not on club templates? It is just as logical to display the manager as it is to display the players. Djdannyp 14:18, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
- Alright then. -- MATTYTHEWHITE yap stalk 18/8/06
- I have made a note of it on WikiProject Football, so lets see what others think. -- MATTYTHEWHITE yap stalk 18/8/06
- As the World Cup Templates are scheduled for deletion it makes more sense to put the club template first, as otherwise it would fall under the "this template has been put forward for deletion" banner. Djdannyp 16:50, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
- Good thinking. Also, wouldn't it look better if the manager was on the same line as the players on the template? Like on the Villarreal template. -- MATTYTHEWHITE yap stalk 18/8/06
- I think it looks a bit better having the manager separated at the bottom like that, kinda singles them out Djdannyp 16:59, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
- Meh, whatever floats your boat. But what if the manager was less than a line down, like just below the squad? I think its taking a bit too much room like it is. -- MATTYTHEWHITE yap stalk 18/8/06

New userboxes
I have deleted a userbox template you recently created, as userboxes should no longer be created in templatespace per the terms of the German userbox solution. Here is the userbox code so that you can recreate the userbox in your userspace ("userfying") if you wish.
<div style="float: left; border:solid blue 1px; margin: 1px;"> {| cellspacing="0" style="width: 238px; background: red;" | style="width: 45px; height: 45px; background: white; text-align: center; font-size: 13.5pt; color: red; font-weight:700;" | {{{3|YCFC}}} | style="font-size: 8pt; padding: 4pt; line-height: 1.25em; color: white;" | <center>'''This user supports <br>[[York City F.C.|York City]]'''. |}</div>

Mark Noble and his templates
Hey, I noticed that you removed the West Ham Utd team template from Mark Noble. Since he's only on-loan to the Town, and still a registered WHU player with a designated shirt, shouldn't he still be allowed to have the WHU template on his page, especially with the opening sentence... "Mark Noble (born May 8, 1987) is a professional football player who currently plays for West Ham United.". If you don't object, I'll replace the template... Let me know what you think. Budgiekiller 17:00, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- If you were to look at Internazionale's squad template, you would see Hernan Crespo there. And not on Chelsea's. He is on loan to Inter, and he is not on Chelsea template as he is not presently playing for them. That applies for all other players on loan to other clubs. -- MATTYTHEWHITE yap stalk 20/8/06
- Okay, that's fine. I wasn't sure if their was a well-defined protocol for players on-loan. Does that mean he should be removed from the WHU template, because if you go to another WHU player, and go to Noble using the template, you'd be sadly mistaken... Budgiekiller 17:28, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I should have removed him earlier. I'll do that now. -- MATTYTHEWHITE yap stalk 20/8/06
- But he's still a WHU registered player with a squad number. Is that really the right thing to do? Budgiekiller 17:34, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- Dude, its not like his shirt number will be forgotten or anything. It says that on the Loaned Away bit on West Ham's page. -- MATTYTHEWHITE yap stalk 20/8/06
- Fine, I understand that. I may seek for a common approach to this (if one does not already exist) within the Wikiproject:Football. Thanks for your time. Budgiekiller 18:33, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- I've added a comment to the project to seek clarification of this common issue here so please feel free to contribute! Budgiekiller 20:09, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
