Appearance count
If a footballer plays a match, should his appearance count (and goal count if necessary) be updated? What if the previous appearance count was incorrect, and you simply add 1 to the appearance count? Would you then be blocked for accidentally just adding 1 (as you'd get test warnings or something, even though it's not the user's fault who added an extra 1)? Leeds United FC fan (talk) 17:11, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
- Users should always consult with sources (in this case, Soccerbase, Soccerway etc) before updating any content, including appearance data. If an editor was continually doing it being receiving numerous warnings, then a block would probably be justified. Mattythewhite (talk) 18:51, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
- Wait, so you shouldn't add an appearance every time a player has played a match without looking at these sources? Leeds United FC fan (talk) 19:19, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
- I'd highly recommend checking at least one of them, just to make sure you haven't missed any appearances/goals. Mattythewhite (talk) 19:21, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
- Do subs count? Leeds United FC fan (talk) 19:28, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
- Yup. Soccerbase list substitute appearances in brackets, so they need adding up. See this Soccerbase profile as an example. Mattythewhite (talk) 19:30, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
- The problem is, that it is not up to date. Look at Tony Watt for example. His appearance and goal today have not counted, as it says he has not played any matches this season. Leeds United FC fan (talk) 19:34, 8 August 2015 (UTC)

Carrow Road FAC
Hi Matty, I think we've kind-of addressed your concerns at the FAC, would you be prepared to return to see if there's anything else we can do? Thanks for your comments so far, of course. The Rambling Man (talk) 20:51, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
Yohan Cabaye (& ors)
Hi Mattythewhite, this editor who 'vandalised' several pages yesterday has been at it again, with several edits at Yohan Cabaye and also one unsourced ungrammatical edit at Duke McKenzie. I've RV'd the McKenzied edit but the number at Cabaye and an intervening sensible one...not sure how to deal with that. Regards, Eagleash (talk) 18:51, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
- Reverted and warned. Looks like what the user told me on my TP yesterday is bogus. Mattythewhite (talk) 18:56, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks. Yes I have no doubt it is. I stuck another message on his talk page too. (Also pointed out WP:BRO). Regards, Eagleash (talk) 19:00, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
- Hi again. After my message above the user left a fairly abusive message on my talk page, so I responded (politely) on his, leaving some regular help page info etc. However he has put the info back into the Cabaye article and left another (less-impolite) message. Looks like a bit of a prob. developing. Regards, Eagleash (talk) 08:43, 10 August 2015 (UTC)

- No worries. The language they were using was completely unacceptable, and it's probably only a matter of time until they receive an indef block. Mattythewhite (talk) 12:53, 10 August 2015 (UTC)

Matthew Barnes-Homer being edited again by Ballerbarnes9 (talk · contribs).. time for this to stop! JMHamo (talk) 00:17, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
Much more serious now, this user who I reported several times to you now has a new IP (this one https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Special:Contributions/77.103.19.181) and reverted me in this player's page (and I followed suit). I suppose his other "contributions" revolve around the same (meaning of African players' names) and, in the page of User:Qed237, he has resorted to name calling because QED also reverted him (see message called "Wiki God").
Geez, some people don't understand what an ENCYCLOPEDIA is (and maybe now I should brace for some name calling too!). I leave it to your judgement. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 00:32, 17 August 2015 (UTC)

Anfield, smaller text
Hey Mattythewhite,
I was thinking we make a few of the details like opponent smaller, as the record attendence is more prevalent. I feel like making all text large takes away from the important data. Let me know what you think.--Shreerajtheauthor (talk) 22:58, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
- I can't agree with that, for the sake of accessibility. We would be doing a disservice to our readers by making certain pieces of text harder to read, when it's not really necessary. Mattythewhite (talk) 23:02, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for the link. While I agree that we should avoid continuous change of small-text, accessibility does allow small-text "through carefully designed templates." I believe the nav-box for stadiums being amended to highlight pertinent information would actually be better for our readers. Not sure on if there has been a convo on this in the past.--Shreerajtheauthor (talk) 23:56, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
- You could bring it up at WT:FOOTY, but I would still prefer to use normal size text whenever possible. Mattythewhite (talk) 23:58, 17 August 2015 (UTC)
- I'll put it on the backburner for now. Like you said not the most important. Thanks.--Shreerajtheauthor (talk) 00:14, 18 August 2015 (UTC)

Hi Mattythewhite, I am very sorry, I am not real sure who is right here. I've been looking at transfer news and I saw that Gerard Pique has signed with Augsburg. Are you able to check the book reference for his birthplace? It says York, but his profile at his former club says Wolverhampton, which makes geographical sense with where he began his career '''tAD''' (talk) 22:00, 19 August 2015 (UTC) '''tAD''' (talk) 22:00, 19 August 2015 (UTC)
- The Sky Sports Football Yearbook 2012–2013 does list York as his birthplace. Findmypast show the birth was registered in York (registration required), although I suspect this might be a different individual. This individual was born q1 1993, while Goldson was born q2 1992. So perhaps the full name and POB attached to Goldson are for an entirely different individual... Mattythewhite (talk) 22:11, 19 August 2015 (UTC)
Jordan Henderson
Hey Mattytheahite,
There has been talkpage discussion on this before and most consensus has been, while the template is slightly outdated look at statistics examples like Messi, Ronaldo. If a player has played several seasons in the same division then why create multiple rows for the same thing. It makes no sense. Look at the Club. It has also been expanded several rows because it is cleaner. Only if they begin playing in another division, then it can be amended. --Shreerajtheauthor (talk) 16:44, 20 August 2015 (UTC)
- What is ths significance of the Messi and Ronaldo examples? They might be top-level players, but that doesn't mean their Wikipedia biographies set the benchmark. The reason we are enouraged to lay tables out like this is for accessibility reasons; see this by Struway2 for an explanation. Mattythewhite (talk) 16:50, 20 August 2015 (UTC)
- See also Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Archive 85#Career stats tables. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 17:08, 20 August 2015 (UTC)
- No significance. I just pulled up the best examples, but I've seen this style on a lot of other players so they are not isolated incidents. See Giggs as another example. Also see this example where a template for Dwain Chambers has multirow cells in the 2nd column. I see your point, and thanks for the thread link Struway2. This was last addressed 1.5 years ago. Do any of you know of any updated information? How many people truly use screen readers to view Footy statistics tables. I've never heard a complaint that a table was unreadable.--Shreerajtheauthor (talk) 17:27, 20 August 2015 (UTC)
- Please feel free to ask for clarification at a suitable venue: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Accessibility or Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Accessibility seem likely. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 17:45, 20 August 2015 (UTC)

Hello there, thanks for your message. Regarding the deletion of the individual season stats references, I had replaced them with the general link to all the seasons stats on soccerbase. On my view it created a cleaner page without the loss of information. Anyway, as you clearly have much more experience here than I do, I will take your word for it. Also, thanks for advising me on the edit summary. I will make sure to always complete it in the future. One last thing — when you reentered the 15-16 stats that you deleted from my version, you got one of the numbers wrong from the source. I am correcting it now. Cheers! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.11.77.229 (talk) 19:12, 24 August 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, it's best to cite each season individually, as the generic Soccerbase link doesn't explicitly reference the appearances and goals for each season. Thanks for fixing the 2015/16 stats. Mattythewhite (talk) 19:31, 24 August 2015 (UTC)

Hi, the page wasnt loading correctly when i found it and was just covered with "error" and so on. I tried refreshing it multiple times but the problem didnt go away, and then when i checked the previous version everything was fine so i presumed it had been an editing mistake on your part. Now however, when i click back into your version that i reverted from, everything is appearing perfectly well. So i dont know what was causing the issue to be honest. Maybe a problem on my end. Apologies! IIISmokeyIII (talk) 17:35, 26 August 2015 (UTC)
- Was it in big red writing? If so I've been experiencing the same thing. Don't know what the cause of it is though, or how to fix it. Mattythewhite (talk) 17:39, 26 August 2015 (UTC)

Matty, any idea on how to tackle this issue? In spite of my explanatory summaries (sometimes a bit too explanatory I admit), people keep inserting a goal for Sheff Wed in his box even though he scored for them in the Football League Cup.
If page protection is not warranted in this case (not vandalism per se), then I guess we'll just have to revert/ignore. Attentively, thanks in advance --84.90.219.128 (talk) 16:20, 25 August 2015 (UTC)

Ramsey
List of Birmingham City F.C. managers is correct. Soccerbase 1997/78, in its infinite wisdom, lists the League Cup defeat on 30 January 1978 during Ramsey's tenure, as opposed to when it actually was played, on 30 August 1977 when Bell was still in charge. Matthews (1995) (details in refs section at the managers list) pages 213, 243 will source it. p.213 is the league/FA Cup/League Cup results/lineups for 1977/78, and p.243 is the mixed competitions page that confirms the 1977/78 Anglo-Scottish Cup ties were all played in August before Ramsey took over. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 20:53, 28 August 2015 (UTC)

Hello,
You reverted my edit. You wrote on my talk page that I didn't provide any reliable source. La Libre Belgique is a reliable source... I gave the link in the comment of my edit. Now, if you can't read French, that something else entirely, but that doesn't make the whole source invalid. So please just read the paper, put it through some automatic translation tool and understand that La Libre Belgique is the second biggest French-speaking newspaper from Belgium. It's as reliable as any source.
2A02:A03F:2A1:A400:2985:28C6:7F30:B19A (talk) 23:49, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
- The transfer has not been confirmed by either of the clubs involved, and in any case the source needs to be cited in the article itself, not just in the edit summary. Mattythewhite (talk) 23:52, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
- That's being bad faith. Regarding the edit, since I gave the link you could just edit to add the source, but no, you had to revert entirely. The clubs don't need to say it officially to make it official. The press saying it's signed, and especially from a well-established newspaper as La Libre Belgique, is good enough. News events occur daily and the press say stuff before the officials say anything. Take for instance the recent shooting in Virginia. The article was present and documented well before the first official press conference from the cops. Accepting one and not the other is making a double-standard. 2A02:A03F:2A1:A400:2985:28C6:7F30:B19A (talk) 23:57, 29 August 2015 (UTC)

With your admin powers, it may be advised to protect this article as a lot of obscenity has been posted on it in recent days. It's most likely from disgruntled Brighton fans holding an eternal grudge. I think the rubbish posted in the last edit – I'm not repeating it here as it's libellous – merits deletion '''tAD''' (talk) 19:45, 31 August 2015 (UTC)

Hi! Thank you for keeping an eye on the statistics and my edits. The Carl Pentney stats are retrieved from the match reports at Maidenhead United's Pitch Hero website, apart from the Bath City match on 18 August 2015, which was covered by Bath Chronicle. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Morhveem (talk • contribs) 01:11, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
Stadium notability
Are there any notability guidelines for English football stadiums? Should stadiums in the National League have a page? Leeds United FC fan (talk) 18:57, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
- I'm not aware of a formal guideline for stadiums, so WP:GNG is likely the only yardstick to go by. I would think there's a good chance for a ground at National League level to be considered notable, but it will vary case-by-case. Mattythewhite (talk) 19:02, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
- What do you think about Guiseley A.F.C.'s stadium? It doesn't seem to have significant media coverage though. Leeds United FC fan (talk) 19:05, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
- I think it might be worth doing some research on the ground, to suss out if there's a wide enough range of sources available to justify an article. If you think there is, I'd go ahead and type an article up! Mattythewhite (talk) 19:15, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
- There is a Yorkshire Evening Post article that talks about the stadium's new expansion. Some old BBC articles mention the stadium on occasion. There is many images of the stadium generally. The Gazette & Observer also has an article about a stadium upgrade last year. Other than that, there doesn't seem to be any significant media coverage. Leeds United FC fan (talk) 19:21, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
- Football Ground Guide, which is generally a useful site for English stadiums, has some good info. Not in itself enough to satisfy notability criteria, but great for beefing the article up. And there's these images on Flickr with Wikipedia-friendly licences that could be used on an article. I might be being optimistic, but I think the potential is there! Mattythewhite (talk) 19:31, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
- Do you think it should be created? Leeds United FC fan (talk) 19:33, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
- Hard to give a straight yes or no. For me it would depend on whether an article demonstrates that it passes the GNG, which remains unknown. Mattythewhite (talk) 19:37, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
- (Coming here from User talk:Redrose64#Guiseley A.F.C.'s stadium) Have you asked WT:FOOTY? They must come across the grounds of non-league clubs pretty often. --Redrose64 (talk) 19:48, 2 September 2015 (UTC)

I've decided to work on The New Lawn as they may achieve promotion to the Football League Two this season. Should I add a coordinates map similar to the map on Carrow Road or the York Community Stadium. Can I freely add a map similar to this? Where do I find the coordinates of the stadium? Thanks. Leeds United FC fan (talk) 18:18, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
- The coordinates are already on the article, and can be seen to the top right of the page. To add a map, just use the infobox parameters used at Carrow Road or York Community Stadium, and update them using the New Lawn coordinates. Mattythewhite (talk) 18:28, 3 September 2015 (UTC)

I have a problem with the name of that article. I created it with the name Paulo António do Prado Pereira, until it was moved to Paulo Pereira. The problem is that Paulo Pereira is a extremely frequent name in Portuguese-speaking world, as you can see in its "what links here". I think that taking over the name "Paulo Pereira" over other wikiproject's is not right, since it can apply to musicians, an handballer and a sprinter, and can mislead other users in thinking the article already exists. Moving it back to Paulo António do Prado Pereira would be the logical move, but it would leave a link behind in Paulo Pereira. Should he turn the page a disambiguation one or delete it outright?--Threeohsix (talk) 21:52, 4 September 2015 (UTC)
- Paulo Pereira appears to the subject's most commonly used name in English language sources, so per WP:COMMONAME the article title is correct. Mattythewhite (talk) 22:02, 4 September 2015 (UTC)
- So it's fine to use Paulo Pereira, even though it links to other articles not related to him? You noticed it can link to a Paulo Cesar Alves Pereira - musician, Paulo Mouta Pereira another musician, Paulo Pereira a Portuguese actor, a Brazilian paraolympic athlete (also a Portuguese sprinter from the 1970s) and Paulo Jorge Pereira a Portuguese handball manager that managed in Angola? I think Paulo Pereira should be a disambiguation page and this Paulo Pereira be moved to other name, maybe Paulo Pereira, (footballer)? --Threeohsix (talk) 11:06, 5 September 2015 (UTC)
- Disambiguation would be the correct approach, but I can't see that there are articles for other individuals named Paulo Pereira? Mattythewhite (talk) 13:13, 5 September 2015 (UTC)

Pepe
Sorry for not explaining, I didn't mean to delete the info on Pepe's page. I was trying to add that Pepe with Real Madrid hasn't received a red card since April 2011/2012.
In fact, Pepe was the only center back in La Liga in 2014/15 season to not receive a single yellow card. He only had 5 fouls, lowest in the league.
He has improved his behavior IMMENSELY, i just don't want people to make out what he used to do what they'll know about him forever on his wikipedia page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 104.228.49.36 (talk) 00:51, 11 September 2015 (UTC)

- I'm afraid Sutton United F.C. does not determine what content is included on Wikipedia. It is long established consensus that only league statistics are included in the infobox, and this is stated on the template documentation: "A list of appearances that the player has been awarded in league competition only for each professional club". And please do not threaten to get people blocked, especially considering you're the one in the wrong here. Mattythewhite (talk) 18:45, 13 September 2015 (UTC)

Rowspanned Cells
Mattythwhite,
If you recall we had a conversation (I can't locate it) about formatting for rowspanned cells. The links Struway2 provided for Manual of Style to avoid failing WP:ACCESS look dated. I haven't seen this anywhere beside WT:FOOTY. How can we confirm that we can still not use nested tables, due to screen readers? Or who would be able to assist us with this?--Shreerajtheauthor (talk) 16:27, 22 September 2015 (UTC)
- Also I'll restore the Romelu Lukaku edit (the other edits I did) but leave the career statistics table to your version until consensus can be reached.--Shreerajtheauthor (talk) 16:37, 22 September 2015 (UTC)
- I don't know the best way to resolve it, but in the meantime we should ensure tables meet the present accessibility requirements. and what the community-decided template displays. I also must take exception to some of your other changes at Lukaku; there's no consensus to remove divisions from the lead; Template:Nft should be substituted when added, e.g. {{subst:nft|France}}; and table captions should be included above tables, again for accessibility. Mattythewhite (talk) 16:45, 22 September 2015 (UTC)
- Okay I'll leave tables, captions unchanged. Another thought I had was what if we included the division BEFORE the season? That way Club and Division would be read first, even on a screenreader and then season, apps, goals, etc. would come next. I was not aware of WP:SUBST but thanks I will use that going forward. In regards to the last, according to this discussion it seemed like there was no consensus on whether we should use league division aka Premier League club Sample United or nationality of club aka. English club Sample United, so to my understanding it's a case by case basis. None are wrong, and either can be correct.--Shreerajtheauthor (talk) 18:53, 22 September 2015 (UTC)
- What the no consensus confirmed, is that we can't go round pushing our favoured format onto articles that have been stable either with or without the league division. It doesn't justify us pushing our own preferred format just because either can be correct. It's a pity that the windup merchant who started that RfC wasn't sockblocked a bit sooner: that incarnation chose to be keen on removing the league division, but one of its earlier incarnations was quite keen on including it, see e.g. 1, 2. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 21:23, 22 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi there Matty, all well?
I most certainly talked with you about this one or two years ago, and now reliable User:Mega60 (BDFUTBOL.com collaborator) told me you removed the player's stats with FC Barcelona C again. Not 100% sure if I approached it like this the previous time, but he told me that one can take this as an example (please see here http://hemeroteca.mundodeportivo.com/preview/2006/02/13/pagina-37/1405447/pdf.html#&mode=fullScreen, the Barcelona C-Rapitenca match, they call him Jordi there) and consult all the games of the season, last time I checked El Mundo Deportivo (newspaper) is a reliable source, is it not?
All the best, from Portugal --84.90.219.128 (talk) 20:21, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
- I can't find his name on the link above, and we need a source/collection of sources that confirm all his appearances before they can go back in. Mattythewhite (talk) 20:28, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
- Come again? JORDI is JORDI GÓMEZ, like I explained in the original message. Please, what do you want me to convey to Mega? We should add a match report like the one shown above for all his Barça C appearances? --84.90.219.128 (talk) 21:35, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
- I can see his name listed now, having looked through it properly after realising Ctrl+F wasn't functioning. Yes, but ideally we should use a unified source that lists his Barcelona C apps. Mattythewhite (talk) 21:41, 24 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi, I'm a bit confused with removal of a link to a relevant statistics site that's an authority on manager statistics and has accurate Newcastle United manager statistics starting with Frank Watt in 1895. - I've given this user a level 1 warning; I am concerned their unsourced additions, failure to update timestamps and poor English. Mattythewhite (talk) 17:43, 30 September 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry to butt in, but as far as I could tell, all the prose additions made by the named user were referenced to reliable sources. They may have been ill-formatted, not in the greatest English and a bit over-enthusiastic, but I'm not comfortable with removing reliably sourced and encyclopedic content such as the subject scoring the only goal in the Saudi Super Cup as if it were vandalism. Just a personal opinion. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 17:52, 30 September 2015 (UTC)
- I may have been a bit sweeping re: sourcing, but there are instances of unsourced additions including this and this. Mattythewhite (talk) 18:00, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

I understand Struway's input, and have already got to work in Mr. Eduardo's article. Cheers both --84.90.219.128 (talk) 18:48, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi, could you please have a word with an editor regarding this edit? Qed237 (talk) 16:17, 3 October 2015 (UTC)
Please Help
Hey Mattythewhite, please help me with the article Jon-Paul Pittman, especially the career statistics, I muddled up and am dyslexic. Thanks Joe Vitale 5 (talk) 12:48, 4 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, I've added the missing stats and have formatted the table so it meets the layout displayed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Players#Career statistics. My advice to you is to use the preview function: you made over fifty edits to the table when there was really no need for more than one. Mattythewhite (talk) 14:48, 4 October 2015 (UTC)
Edits Attributed to My IP
Hello, While looking through an article on the mythical creatures known as "Abath" on this page "https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Abath", a notification box appeared, informing me that I had new messages from another user. On clicking on this I discovered there were warnings against, presumably, me for editing the pages for several Liverpool players, namely Christian Benteke, Kolo Toure and Adam Lallana. This was not me, but may have been someone in my household. I have a younger brother who is also a Liverpool fan and who may have thought it was a bit of a joke to make edits to players' pages. What were the edits regarding? I shall question him to see if he is behind it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.100.74.234 (talk) 12:25, 5 October 2015 (UTC)
I noticed you removed my edit on Laurent Koscielny's page. I believe this was unjust. Bosscielny should be included as a nickname to reflect how much of a Boss he really is.
Bosscielny is love, Bosscielny is life. <3 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.160.194.50 (talk) 16:42, 5 October 2015 (UTC)
Source and image review requests at FAC
Hi -- I removed your source/image review requests from the FAC talk page -- we should probably update the instructions there, as this is a common misunderstanding. Of course everything needs a source and image review, but that box is used to request reviews for FACs that are getting close to promotion, for which the source and/or image review are the only things left to be settled. Putting every FAC in that list would make it much harder to maintain. Typically the coords add the request when needed, though you'll sometimes see other people do it. Let me know if you have any questions. Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 18:03, 7 October 2015 (UTC)

Thanks. And maybe you should try this user again (https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User_talk:Ptzen), he just is not listening to you or anybody, he re-inserted ALL competitions again in Rui Patrício's box, when he "scored" a goal (it was an own goal with his help!) in the Champions League.
Thanks --84.90.219.128 (talk) 21:28, 8 October 2015 (UTC)

I've restored this article which you PRODded back in 2012, following a request at my talk page. You might wish to consider AFD. GiantSnowman 11:29, 13 October 2015 (UTC)
History of York City FAC
I have a few other editing tasks planned for the next few days, but I'll be sure to give this a review sometime next wee. While I'm here, may I ask what drove you to split the article in two? I've been working on a sports team history article, which is longer than the York City page was before the split. It makes me wonder whether I'm approaching things the wrong way. Giants2008 (Talk) 15:07, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for being happy to take a look. I divided the article in two based on the recommendations at WP:SIZERULE, and by seeing other "History of" articles that have done similar, e.g. History of Arsenal F.C. (1886–1966) and History of Liverpool F.C. (1892–1959). Mattythewhite (talk) 16:22, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hello, and thanks for thinking my review might help. I've had a very cursory look, but at the moment I haven't got the time to give it a proper review. First impressions, and these really are mostly peer-review stylee impressions rather than actionable comments, which is why I've commented here rather than the FAC (but if you want to move them to the article talk page, feel free):
- do you really need to wikilink every FL season, rather than e.g. linking the ones in the lead and the first one in the body, so the reader knows where to find one if they really want to, and then only linking any with a particular relevance;
- don't be too quick to accept reviewers' (or copyeditors') suggestions, even mine: "with W.H. Shaw being elected chairman" really isn't better English than your original short sentences; "with W.H. Shaw as chairman" might be;
- why write every number out in words? looks a bit odd in places, things like "scored ninety-six goals in thirty-eight league matches";
- particularly towards the end, it came across a bit list-y, as if you felt obliged to have a certain amount of detail for each season even if it wasn't that important or interesting, which (for me, anyway) tended to obscure my overview of the club's progress: not seeing the wood for the trees sort of thing;
- haven't counted, but I'm guessing you mention as many or more chairmen than players: is that a reasonable balance?
- you might want to add
|deadurl=no
to the archived statto.com links, now the thing's revived; - why split at 1980 rather than 1978?
- Bear in mind that I've never yet managed to write a half-decent history article for my club (perhaps it's time I made a serious attempt), let alone taken anything to FAC on my own, so I understand entirely how difficult it is. And sorry I can't find the time to do it justice. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 12:50, 13 October 2015 (UTC)

The stats I put in are from the official Sutton United website seen here, you can put it back in and reference it yourself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.194.233.64 (talk) 23:54, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
I don't know if these comments of yours make you too involved to take administrative action here, but if not, could I get a brief block against this user. They've gotten several final warnings for introducing unsourced or improperly sourced material (including your two) over the last few months. Despite that we get, this edit, which directly contradicts the source cited, and this edit which is partially based on Transfermarkt, an unreliable source I had asked them not to use several times. Thanks in advance. Sir Sputnik (talk) 04:12, 5 October 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry, I must have missed this message. I've given the user a 4im warning for addition of unsourced content. Mattythewhite (talk) 13:52, 17 October 2015 (UTC)
IP Block?
At the beginning of September you blocked 110.22.57.193 (talk · contribs), seemingly for improperly sourced edits. Now we get this edit in which they change the height of a footballer based on dubious sources. It's also worth noting that I've asked them to stop using Transfermarkt as a source on multiple occasions. I'm not sure whether another block is in order or whether a warning is sufficient. I'll leave that to your discretion. Also, considering my last comment on your talk page (see section User:Mattc1000 above), I would appreciate if you would actually respond, even if is just to say you've seen my comment. Cheers. DYK nomination of Scott Duncan (referee)
Hello! Your submission of Scott Duncan (referee) at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and some issues with it may need to be clarified. Man City top of English league
What is wrong here?[5] It has a reliable source and meets WP:V. You first said it should not be on first sentence but it never was, now you say it should not go anywhere. I see no reason for such a relevant fact to be removed from the article. 54321Mark (talk) 17:30, 19 October 2015 (UTC)
- It's not suitable for the lead section of the article (which is what I meant first instead of sentence). And imagine what a nightmare it would be maintaining that content for every club article. Mattythewhite (talk) 20:52, 19 October 2015 (UTC)
- I don't mind doing the updates, I mean I would never imply doing it for 2nd, 3rd, 4th and the rest. What you have to realise is that you already have at this page the line "They are currently top of the league with 30 points from 13 games.". Updates occur always with players as suddenly their appearances increase as well as their goals per season etc. 54321Mark (talk) 21:08, 19 October 2015 (UTC)
- Right, but the fact that article has an up-to-date league position doesn't mean other articles should (or that that article should to begin with, even if it were sourced). I think an idea like this needs bring to the wider audience of WT:FOOTY, but I really can't see it garnering much support. Mattythewhite (talk) 21:14, 19 October 2015 (UTC)

OrphanReferenceFixer: Help on reversion
Hi there! I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. Recently, you reverted my fix to Adam Boyes.
If you did this because the references should be removed from the article, you have misunderstood the situation. Most likely, the article originally contained both <ref name="foo">...</ref>
and one or more <ref name="foo"/>
referring to it. Someone then removed the <ref name="foo">...</ref>
but left the <ref name="foo"/>
, which results in a big red error in the article. I replaced one of the remaining <ref name="foo"/>
with a copy of the <ref name="foo">...</ref>
; I did not re-insert the reference to where it was deleted, I just replaced one of the remaining instances. What you need to do to fix it is to make sure you remove all instances of the named reference so as to not leave any big red error.
If you reverted because I made an actual mistake, please be sure to also correct any reference errors in the page so I won't come back and make the same mistake again. Also, please post an error report at User talk:AnomieBOT so my operator can fix me! If the error is so urgent that I need to be stopped, also post a message at User:AnomieBOT/shutoff/OrphanReferenceFixer. Thanks! AnomieBOT⚡ 21:16, 19 October 2015 (UTC) If you do not wish to receive this message in the future, add {{bots|optout=AnomieBOT-OrphanReferenceFixer}}
to your talk page.
- It was a different reference causing the error, see this edit. Mattythewhite (talk) 21:42, 19 October 2015 (UTC)
Ivan Rakitic
Ivan currently has 7 goals for Barcelona. I don't know why you changed it. Croatia1 (talk) 01:18, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
Hi, not sure if this is the right avenue to go down, but could you or another admin rollback the creation protection on Borja Mayoral? Somebody wrote it as an attack article so it has been salted to all but admins, I think it would be appropriate to have it be able to be created by autoconfirmed users. I already have a draft on the player, who could make his debut tonight.
Thank you '''tAD''' (talk) 18:31, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
Hey there. Now the roles reverse: I come to kindly ask you to review my recently nominated FC Porto list, and help me bring it to featured status. Thanks! Parutakupiu (talk) 20:26, 24 October 2015 (UTC)

Norwegian/Danish infobox punk
My doubt as seen in the title of my message is because one cannot (at least I can't) browse the geolocate feature in accounts, only in IPs, but I bet my left hand he hails from one of the two countries, and both "users" engaged in the same.
Having said that, this person that you warned here (https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User_talk:Fcb_1019) continues at it, after seeing what I saw in Alberto Lopo I have no doubt in my mind. Attentively --84.90.219.128 (talk) 02:26, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
DYK for Scott Duncan (referee)
On 30 October 2015, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Scott Duncan (referee), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that English association football referee Scott Duncan officiated a League Two play-off match between Fleetwood Town and York City at Highbury Stadium on 16 May 2014? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Scott Duncan (referee). You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |
