Edit warring
Why did you remove reliably sourced content when you restored the POV template? Darkness Shines (talk) 15:53, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
- That can go in the body, the lead should only preferably mention tribal forces per WP:WEIGHT since they were at the forefront of the conquest. Mar4d (talk) 15:57, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
- No they were not, the ywere lead by Pakistani officers. I will rewrite that entire article to reflect historical fact. Darkness Shines (talk) 15:58, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
- You are incorrect, the armed forces became involved after the incursion of tribal forces. The article should accordingly document it as such. Mar4d (talk) 16:01, 28 June 2012 (UTC)

Kashmir movement template
May I suggest try to take a middle road. Increase the scope of the template to cover Azad Kashmir and related issues also. And don't get personal. Stop slapping and trouting and all. Samar (Talk . Contributions) 20:39, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for your advice, will surely take it. Separatist movements which are also active in Azad Kashmir are also included, which I've noted in the footnote in the template. Mar4d (talk) 02:50, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

Do you really think it is an attack page? Sources have been clearly given, and they also establishes the notability. Do remember that Wikipedia is not censored. Also it would be great if you can tell how did you reached that place. It would be better if you don't follow me and place false tags. I hope this won't be repeated. ♛♚★Vaibhav Jain★♚♛ Talk Email 14:35, 29 June 2012 (UTC) Unconstructive comment partially striked per WP:NPA. Mar4d (talk) 15:21, 29 June 2012 (UTC))
- I have nominated it for AfD, you may discuss there. Also, please do not try to give vieled threats. It is none of your business to figure what articles I edit or make observations on my activities. The policy is clear, comment on the content, not the contributor. Stay on topic now and focus on the content dispute. Mar4d (talk) 14:49, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

- What can I say really, more WP:BATTLEGROUND thinking. I believe I have sufficiently raised my concerns on your article, it would be in best interests to let the final decision come about through means of consensus. I am not impressed by your playing of the WP:HOUND card. Even if it is to be loosely applied, it would be tantamount to questioning how you came to this article. I am going to archive this discussion now, make your comments at the AfD. Mar4d (talk) 15:17, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

Do you care to comment at Talk:Gilgit–Baltistan#Neutrality? Hi. I help out at the RefDesks, where this query came up today. I googled for a quick notability check before responding, and spotted your sandbox draft of an article on this individual (I assume the same person our OP is asking about). I see you have made some changes in the article and moved the related massacre page. Shouldn't the spellings be Qissa Kahani. In Urdu Q stands for qāf and and K for kāf. And I don't understand the spellings of Khwani, is this an alternative word used locally for story کہانی? I was to move the pages to the new spellings but needed another opinion. Samar Talk 19:40, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker)From what I know the name of this locality of Peshawar is not "Qisa Kahani" but "Qisa Khwani". "Khwani" is a persian word that means "reading", just like "Naat Khwan", where "Khwan" means reader. --SMS Talk 19:59, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
- That makes sense. Reading back Qissa Kahani would mean story-story. In quite a few literature sources it is termed kahani. Do you have any reference where it explicitly mentions the correct name. In English it is commonly known as the story-tellers market. Strictly speaking it then translates to story-telling market.Samar Talk 20:39, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
- SMS is right, the correct spelling/pronounciation is "Khwani" and the definition of Qissa Khwani is basically "Bazaar of the Storytellers" (or storytellers market). Mar4d (talk) 09:17, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Discussion/Consensus on article:Indian Century
Dear sir/madam,
I just wanted to clarify your reasons for issuing a redirect on this article to:Potential Superpowers. What are the exact motives involved in insinuated deletion of this article? Thank you for your attention and understanding.
Goldendarkness10 (talk) 00:47, 26 August 2012 (UTC)
- I have gone through the history of that page and it is evident that there has been consensus/agreement to redirect this article. This is because the concept is based on a single perspective/theory and is found to be not notable, nor satisfy WP:NEO. Doing an online search of the term also yields very few results, and the ones that do come up are things such as opinion pieces or editorials etc. Unless this topic recieves significant coverage in the years to come, then we can of course create an article on it. But currently, the correct course of action would be to redirect it to the Potential superpowers page where the topic is better covered, and since this article is redundant to that and is not as notable. Hope that clarifies. Cheers, Mar4d (talk) 01:06, 26 August 2012 (UTC)
Understood. The only concern I have is that the article "Chinese century" also exists, and I feel in all consideration a similar course of action should be taken for this too. Thank you for your ardent reply. Best regards, Goldendarkness (talk) 03:09, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
- Hmm, I have not taken a detailed look at that article. But if you believe that article also has similar issues to the ones above, you may nominate it for deletion and explain your rationale. Let me know if you need any help with something. Best, Mar4d (talk) 05:22, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
Alright, now it's nominated for deletion. If you want you can take a look at it and support my request. Ciao, Goldendarkness (talk) 18:17, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

Redirect Categorization
Are such redirects categorized? And if they are, isn't there a template to do this? --SMS Talk 05:10, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
- No, such redirects do not need categorisation because the main article itself is also the same thing so the category should be there instead. Mar4d (talk) 07:37, 18 September 2012 (UTC)

- Good article Justice007. Believe it or not, I had this article on my to-do list :p Mar4d (talk) 00:19, 24 September 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for compliment, I believe you, actually I was busy to search the sources about senior journalists to write articles on them, that some of those I have created. During the search I missed the article of Karachi Press Club, that was once my headquarter. What were the lovely days of that time. I miss the article on "Karachi Union Of Journalists" too. May be that is also in your list?. Be hurry to create, otherwise?!---. Cheers.Justice007 (talk) 08:37, 24 September 2012 (UTC)
- Indeed, the Karachi Press Club is one of the largest and most prominent press clubs of Pakistan. Nice to see your work on journalism and literature-related articles, please keep it up. If you need any help with something, leave me a message. There are plenty of sources available for Karachi Union of Journalists, so if you plan to create an article on that, I will try to help in wherever I can. Bowling speed
I think a seperate article might in time just get merged into bowling (cricket), so I'd perhaps include it as a section on that article, plus including it in the glossary. It's interesting comparing speed live at a match or on tv to what sites like cricinfo say. Take Darren Sammy, cricinfo says his speed is medium-fast (used to say fast-medium :S), but I've never seen him get above 78mph live at a match or on tv. Medium pace, perhaps! Howzat?Out!Out!Out! (talk) 20:14, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
- Hmm I agree. It's better to include it as a section in the article then, along with a concise entry on the term in the glossary. PS. I've seen Sammy play before and 78 mph goes up to somewhere in the 120s (kph). I suppose he's a medium pacer :) By the way, is there even such a thing as "medium-fast" bowling? (confused :s) Interesting indeed... the cricket glossary defines a medium pacer as "a bowler who bowls slower than a pace bowler, but faster than a spin bowler. Speed is important to the medium-pacer, but they try and defeat the batsman with the movement of the ball". Mar4d (talk) 01:57, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
Hello, could you please help me at Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of international cricket centuries by Javed Miandad/archive1. I don't kow how to upload an image from other sources or if you have free images of Miandad. Zia Khan 12:38, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
- Hi there! I am not very good with images/commons procedures or familiar with licensing rules when it comes to finding free images and uploading them. Sorry about that :( I think the best way would be to search on Flickr as another user has suggested on the FA review. Usually, when you see an image on Flickr, the license details are provided along with it on the page. Mar4d (talk) 12:51, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

I am using "Hot Interwiki" link in Urdu wiki but couldn't succeed to find this link in English Wiki. Can you help me out to get this tool in English Wiki too so that I may enter Urdu interwiki link into English as I am usually make new categories on Urdu Wiki to categorize all article in a proper way. I only use English Wiki to enter Urdu interwiki and for this I've to spend lot of time to push the edit button on every single article on English Wiki to enter Urdu interwiki link.
I hope you will help me to get access to "Hot Interwiki" tool on English Wikipedia. Thanks--ساجد امجد ساجد (talk) 19:10, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed maintenance templates from Mall of Lahore. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. A barnstar for you!
Pakistan Barnstar of National Merit | |
For seeing things exactly as I see them, not taking the rather severe criticism to heart, and showing a will to launch a mass cleanup operation rather than taking the easy option. SPECTRE has filed a cloning report of you ready to clone your much needed quality service to Pakistan articles with 10,000 minimes, all capable of zapping up the POV and CAPITAL LETTERS with a stun gun. Every Pakistan article should indeed look like 2011 NATO attack in Pakistan, fantastic job!♦ Dr. ☠ Blofeld 14:51, 26 October 2012 (UTC) |
- Thank you Blofeld for the barnstar and appreciation, I'm flattered :) Looking forward to seeing the minimes zapping away with their stun guns sooner than later. Regards, Mar4d (talk) 15:30, 26 October 2012 (UTC)

Location of update tag
In the article Water supply and sanitation in Pakistan you removed an update tag saying that it belongs to the talk page. In my view, it is preferable to place such update tags on the article page for the following reasons: 1. All kind of other maintenance tags are always placed on the article page, typically using a template form 2. Readers are interested to know how up-to-date an article is. For example, for water supply and sanitation country profiles, after a few years some important information such as on access, service quality, tariffs and financing is outdated, but this is not necessarily easy to see for readers without the maintenance tag. 4. Most readers unfortunately never look at the talk page, as can be seen from the view statistics. I therefore suggest to put the update tag, which right now has been completely removed, back on the article page.--Mschiffler (talk) 09:55, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
- I understand where you're getting at, but the "update tag" you are referring to was not exactly a "tag" - correct me if I'm wrong, but it was a hatnote, and as far as I know, hatnotes are not the norm if you want to indicate that an article needs to be updated. For that purpose, consider placing the Template:Update or Template:Out of date at the top of the article. Mar4d (talk) 14:55, 3 November 2012 (UTC)
- I see that you have removed the hatnote again without first waiting for the outcome of the discussion. Hmm. To me, it is important to find the right toll to fit the purpose of allowing the reader to quickly get an idea about whether parts of an article or the entire article are out-of-date or not. In this case, parts of the article are out of date, but without necessarily compromising the factual accuracy of the article. This is why the template:out of date would be inappropriate. The template:update is unfortunately insufficient fur the purpose, since it is not differentiated. One could of course go to every single section and add the template:update or not. But this would be time-consuming, if applied to numerous articles, and it would clutter each article. In some cases, such as for water supply and sanitation in Pakistan, the most up-to-date information available is ten years old. Also, the term "outdated" is relative. For some readers, data from last year are already outdated. But often data for even the last few years are unavailable, in the case of this topic. On the other hand, even if data are several years old, the gist of the article may be still right. Who judges based on which criteria an article is outdated? In my view, adding a hatnote allows to convey a differentiated message, giving the reader concise and relevant information to make his or her own judgment whether the article is outdated or not. Creating a new template for this purpose would be another option, but at least I do not know how to do that. Your constructive views on this are appreciated.--Mschiffler (talk) 15:54, 3 November 2012 (UTC)

Images should be discussed
Hello mar4d,
Why did u remove the picture of shaheed-e-millat liaquat ali khan presenting pakistans national flag in the first constituent assembly. This is the history of pakistan and it should be on the page. The first prime minister presenting pakistans national flag for the first time is very important. You should not remove something of that importance. I hope that you wont do it again. Thankyou very much in advance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Love4pakistan (talk • contribs) 12:31, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

- Hi there. I appreciate your effort, but your edits appear to be problematic because a lot of sourced content has been removed and there are also formatting issues. Please avoid removing anything that is sourced to a citation because Wikipedia articles depend on verification and your edits appear to remove a lot of verified content. Template:Pashtun
There is no reason to remove names from the template just because they are Afghans. A minister qualifies as a key figure, esepecially if that minister may be representing a specific tribe or group. What you can do is add another list for ministers and governors.--Chilum aw charrs (talk) 07:36, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
