Welcome
[edit]Hello, Madisonokon! Welcome to Wikipedia! It appears that you are here to participate in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to go through our training for students.
If you need help, check out Wikipedia's page for questions. You can also ask me by visiting my user talk page and leaving a message, or you can ask your question on this page by editing it and placing {{Help me}}
before your question. Please make sure that you sign your messages on discussion pages, which is done by entering four tildes (~~~~) at the very end of it; this will automatically insert your username and the date. I also highly recommend that you review the advice for students page.
Before you create an article, make sure that you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.
Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, and if your class doesn't already have one, please tell your instructor about creating one. It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}}
on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know that the article is a subject of an educational assignment as well as aid your communication with them.
Here are some more pages that you might find helpful:
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page (editing policy)
- Introduction to Wikipedia
- Help pages index
- Visual editor tutorial
- Wikitext tutorial (if you're choosing to edit pages using the Wikitext source code instead of the VisualEditor)
- Wikitext cheatsheet
While editing:
- Maintain a neutral point of view – this is one of Wikipedia's core policies.
- Be bold, but do not add troublesome content to any article, such as: copyrighted text, libel, advertising or promotional messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject; doing so will result in your account or IP being blocked from editing.
- Respect copyrights – do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
- No edit warring or abuse of multiple accounts.
- Provide reliable sources to the content you add. If you are adding biomedical information, please follow this guideline.
- Take particular care while adding biographical material about a living person to any Wikipedia page and follow Wikipedia's Biography of Living Persons policy. Particularly, controversial and negative statements should be referenced with multiple reliable sources.
- If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay even after your assignment is finished!

Peer Review
[edit]It is clear that you have a wide variety of sources, and you provide plenty of information on the voyage of the St. Louis. However, I would suggest narrowing your focus. A larger emphasis should be placed on Erich himself; all of the context that you used dilutes the sections with info about the Dublons. What you've written definitely has all of the pieces to end up with a fantastic article, though. It just needs to be cleaned up a bit. Good work!
WUSTLWikiWarrior (talk) 16:53, 6 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you, this feedback is very helpful. I could definitely see how I focused on the broader story rather than Erich's experience. A lot of the information I had focused on the entire Dublon family more than Erich himself and I think that was the unconscious reason I took a broader approach to writing my article. Again, thank you for the feedback! Madisonokon (talk) 19:51, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
- No problem, I am looking forward to reading the final version! WUSTLWikiWarrior (talk) 23:42, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
All of the content that you have in your draft is written wonderfully. The article is easy to understand, easy to read, and credible as you have threaded your sources throughout. Two things to consider: adding links to other relevant Wikipedia articles, and possibly adding images to provide a visual connection with Erich and the SS St. Louis.
ReimyLi (talk) 17:11, 6 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the feedback! I do have a few images related to the voyage of the St. Louis. I'll look into how to upload those into the article! Madisonokon (talk) 19:53, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
