Norwegian road signs

Are you serious? I know it says not to edit archived discussions, but I just have to make some comments on this. The converted files have the exact issues I experienced, which is why I said SVG didn't work. The lines are not part of the images. It's the EPS to SVG method that simply does not work. The intricate shapes aren't accurate, so they leave gaps between them, as well as weird shapes on some arrows. Also, you didn't split any of the images into a, b, c, etc. The PNGs I provided are far superior, and would've given you far less work to simply upload. Scalable means next to nothing when the image turns out so inaccurate.
Anyway, after two months I don't give much of a damn any longer. Not that I don't appreciate the effort on your end, but I had made quite an effort as well, and this end result is thoroughly disappointing. I had already done what you did here, except that I'm not allowed to upload without registering. If the SVGs are replaced with the PNGs, someone else will have to edit the article. Not going to check here daily for another two months, sorry to say. 158.37.73.32 (talk) 23:01, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
I know that the convert has taken really long, but please don't bother me, since I'm in my exams and I hadn't found any time for tis task. I can still split the images, if you say me which one. I didn't do it, since these seemed for me one image/shield. The problem is with the svg, that there need to be only a small correction, which I'm thinking is okay as it is. Okay, 4 images (I already mentioned) have bigger display problems, although they are still enough to use. mabdul 23:43, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
FYI I requested a job at Wikipedia:Graphic_Lab/Illustration_workshop#Norwegian_Road_signs. mabdul 11:23, 4 August 2011 (UTC)
Okay. If they turn out to be repairable, that would be nice. I was just quite disappointed to see that your images turned out exactly as the ones I converted myself. I could've provided them 2 months ago, and I specifically mentioned that they turned out problematic in my original request. The issue is that right now, they display the signs worse than the PNGs I provided.

The splitting issue regards all images that depict multiple signs. I had split them for the PNG versions. 158.37.73.32 (talk) 17:39, 5 August 2011 (UTC)
Could you reupload the eps files for the Graphic Lab-team? I don't have them any more since my harddisk of my laptop the day before yesterday... mabdul 18:48, 5 August 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Webex.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 12:55, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

heh, a PNG version was created. Great! mabdul 12:58, 4 August 2011 (UTC)
No problem! I did take the description used in it and copy it over to the PNG file when I was uploading it, minus the {{shouldbepng}} template, of course. And yes, I did swap the file used on the page it was used on to the PNG version, so no worries! :D LikeLakers2 (talk) 15:57, 4 August 2011 (UTC)
Why uploading a bigger PNG file instead of using Gif? There is no patent any longer on the gif-somat. so where is the use? mabdul 16:18, 4 August 2011 (UTC)

Thank you

Hey, so I noticed something with the template you helped me with and I was wondering if you could help me out. It seems that the section parameter is dependent on there being either a previous or a next parameter, so what happens is that a header without a previous or next, but with a section, is showing nothing, see this,if you click on edit, you'll see that the seccion parameter is filled, but not showing on the page. - Theornamentalist (talk) 13:54, 13 August 2011 (UTC)

Heh, it seems that you fixed it by your own. What did you changed? I can't find any relevant in the history except a removal of an if (although this didn't has to do with the section. Maybe we should have purged the server... mabdul 15:32, 15 August 2011 (UTC)

Templates

I need help in expanding the templates as well as creating more of them. I will be mentioning a series of short comings and problems I have. I didn't want to bore you off with this info until you had the free time :).

A small history lesson, I apologize if you know all this already. My understanding of the complicated history of EU is limited but... Three significant events lead to the formation of EU. (More info is at Treaties of the European Union#Ratified_treaties which has a nice chart.)

  1. Inner Six/Outer Seven era where a few of the post-ww2 era Western European countries formed a number of loosely related economic treaties. These were European Coal and Steel Community, European Economic Community, European Atomic Energy Community most notably.
  2. European Communities was formed in 1 July 1967 with Merger Treaty. The above treaties were amended and merged. This isn't currently represented in the template as I am unsure what the best way is to handle the complex relationship.
  3. With 1993-11-1 with Maastricht Treaty the EU we know today came into existence.

What I want the template to do is all I should do is provide it a date and it should pull the relevant membership info. In the case of France, EU field should show "I6" or "Inner Six" when a date after 1952 but before 1967 (dates of the treaties mentioned in 1 & 2 above) is given. It should return "EC" or "European Communities" for dates between 1967 and 1993 and show "EU" or "European Union" for dates after 1993.

As for the actual template done so far:

I created some documentation for the template: {{Membership/Sub/T/doc}} which should give a general idea. The templates actual use is probably a lot simpler than it looks.

Do also take a look at {{Membership/France}}. For France's historic relation with European Union consider the line:

  |EUorg={{{EUorg|EU}}}
  |EUpreorg={{{EUpreorg|EU/I6}}}

  |EU={{{EU|Show}}}
  |EUpre={{{EUpre|Show}}}

  |EUmembership={{{EUmembership|1993-11-1}}}
  |EUpremembership={{{EUpremembership|1952-07-23}}}

  |EUsup={{{EUsup|}}}

The reason why I have parameters like {{{EU|Show}}}, {{{EUsup|}}} is to allow people calling the template to pass values to the fields or hide the fields if needed.

The {{{EUorg|EU}}} determines what template will be called when the "EUmembership" needs to be shown. It actually calls {{Membership/Sub/Flag/EU}}. This is the EU we know as it came to existence/effect in 1993. The {{{EUpreorg|EU/I6}}} determines what template will be called for the "EUpremembership". It actually calls {{Membership/Sub/Flag/EU/I6}} in my work. As mentioned above the "European Communities" Pre-EU era isn't shown in this current template structure which is wrong. I6 ceased to exist (more or less) with the merger treaty I believe. The complication is that EU has two "pre-era"s. I was thinking of using a switch (somehow) but then waited to hear what you think. More detailed info of EU;s expansion is at Enlargement of the European Union#Detail.

The structure is a lot simpler for other organizations where membership is merely joining the organization and pre-membership is the time period where countries prepare for the membership.

The other issue is when countries leave organizations or end up getting suspended. For instance Fiji left the commonwealth after joining and then rejoined but has been suspended twice so far. Or France left NATO's military wing until recently. Such cases aren't handled either. Might I add the complicated membership of UN security council temporary membership where countries join for 2 years only multiple times with gaps.

One last thing I want to handle is the dates when countries came to existence or ceased to exist. If someone tries to pass the date 1950s to check the membership info for say Estonia they should be receiving a message saying the country did not exist as a sovereign country. Or if someone tries to link to Czechoslovakia by passing a date in 2000s they should get a warning that the country no longer exists. Likewise a NATO membership for 1930s (before NATO existed) or membership for organizations like Western Union, Warsaw Pact in 2010s should return an error as these organizations ceased to exist.

So these are the problems that require template coding. I'd like to know what you think. I want to maintain a one (or more) template structure as I think having all these relationships in one template would generate a template that is far far too complicated particularly when it needs to be updated.

Dysprosium Software

Sirs, I quote from Hitler and similar entities, "Now, the only way that remains for us is to use military force. We do not talk anymore." At last, you used the military power against my reasoning? Were you too busy to continue? This job of Wikipaedia is a hobby to promote knowledge of humans to objects that exist not a military endeavour. Sirs, Wikipaedia is declining in being reliable due to ever increasing use of militarism in it rather than knowledge seeking. How one can become sure that he is getting correct knowledge if he cannot become engaged in a peaceful dispute? I do not answer doubts you put forward since you blocked my way, abusing your position. You are confusing real objects with predicaments. That is all. I cannot fight back with the flood of confused people. Now I go and engage in another corner of this declining source. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.15.234.49 (talk) 13:22, 12 August 2011 (UTC)

Deletion of BOARD International

Hi Mabdul - I am failing to get the answers I need regarding the article "BOARD International". I was hoping you could assist me being that you were the most helpful and precise before. I am willing to change the necessary components, even start from the beginning if I have to, but an unaware right now what the first steps are. Thanks! Okay, I requested that an admin check the deleted versions. He said, that neither G11 nor G4 would really fit since the article has independent, third party references at the end. Sorry for telling now the following sentences: at the moment your article is deleted, but there is (maybe) a way to get it back. Go to Wikipedia:Deletion review and read it carefully (also the other requests for knowing what to write), and then request a review of the deleted article. Leave a Template:talkback (similar I left at your page) at the pages from the deleting admins at User talk:Causa sui and User talk:Fastily to the delete review. Hopefully they will revise the deletion. mabdul 23:49, 15 August 2011 (UTC)

The article Sami Turgeman has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. mabdul 22:37, 15 August 2011 (UTC)

Template:WikiProject Formula One

Hi Mabdul. Thanks for the changes you made. Unfortunately, they haven't really addressed the issue I was raising, which is that if you specify the "class" parameter as "redirect", "category", "template", "disambig", "file" or "portal", but don't specify a value for the "importance" parameter, the page is included in both Category:NA-importance Formula One articles and Category:Unknown-importance Formula One articles. As an example: {{WikiProject Formula One|class=template}} puts the article into Category:Template-Class Formula One articles, Category:NA-importance Formula One articles and Category:Unknown-importance Formula One articles. I think the original intention was that if you specified "class" as "template" (or "category", "disambig", etc), then the article would automatically be included in Category:NA-importance Formula One articles without you having to specify a value for "importance". Note that if you do specify a value for "importance" then everything is fine, i.e. {{WikiProject Formula One|class=template|importance=NA}} puts the article into just Category:Template-Class Formula One articles and Category:NA-importance Formula One articles. But I thought if it was simple to fix the template so you didn't have to specify the importance value for these class types then that was worthwhile doing. I fixed many problems which were related to the wikify tag. But I do not want to remove the copyedit tag at the moment. Maybe ask at the WP:Help Desk or in the IRC for a review. I can't do this job since English in not my mother's tongue and thus I'm not that good. Alternatively ask at the Wikiproject:Copyedit, they have been highly specialized at these problems. Maybe they will only remove the tag without changing the text. mabdul 12:27, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Mr. Hito.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Mr. Hito.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Acather96 (talk) 12:06, 25 August 2011 (UTC)

When I access the link to the logo on the CustomInk Logo.jpg page it shows the correct thumbnail but when you click it, it goes to the old logo which means the logo hasn't been updated. It also hasn't be updated on the CustomInk page. --Jim.Hostetler (talk) 12:48, 30 August 2011 (UTC)

I apologize for any confusion with this. In order to make sure the logo is coming up correctly and without the black background, I've created a new version which you can access at this link:

I think your using the wrong template to request histmerges. {{db-copypaste}} requests that the article be deleted to make way for a clean page move, and does not request a histmerge. If carried out as defined on the template, the newer page will be deleted, and the old one moved over it, with no merge. That will cause the edits since the copy paste move to be lost. Instead you should request a histmerge using {tl|histmerge}}. Monty845 14:40, 3 October 2011 (UTC)

Nothus Miserum

Mabdul:

Thank you for your review of my recent submission: Nothus Miserum.

I understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and not a dictionary.

When I began to draft my submission, I looked for a model within Wikipedia that could serve as an example of an acceptable submission. I found Modus Operandi, a Latin phrase used in police jargon.

I do see that Modus Operandi appears in Wiktionary as well, with a link stating "Wikipedia has an article on Modus Operandi."

I plan to resubmit my entry to Wiktionary, again following Modus Operandi, and hope for better results.

However, I am having difficulty finding the entry point to the submission path for Wiktionary.

Can you direct me?

Thanks for your consideration.

Hello, I was asked to comment by mabdul. In addition to what mabdul said about Wikipedia not being a dictionary, judging from a Google search and the fact that your source is a blog post you wrote, it would appear that the phrase was originally coined by you. Wikipedia is not a place to publish original thought, so it's unlikely you'd ever be able to make that article. Please write about other encyclopedic topics instead. (Incidentally, Modus operandi is an acceptable article because it goes into detail beyond just the definition, but as your subject does not appear to be a pre-existing, widely used phrase, this is largely irrelevant.) wctaiwan (talk) 12:06, 11 October 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of xxxterm

All references to Wikipedia policies You provided are about the web content. Do You really see no difference between the web browser and the sites You browse with it? Your page states You've written the articles about several proof-of-concept web browsers including Agora, so You might have noticed this difference before. So what the hell is going on?

I know, the notablity of most software for Unix-like can be disputed, but why abusing the speedy deletion if there is a proper AfD process if You suspect xxxterm to be not notable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Czarkoff (talkcontribs) 12:00, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, I know that tagging it with webcontent might not be correct, but there is no better tagging under A7 in WP:TWINKLE. As you already noticed, that I'm really aware of the notability of web browsers. Please check the Agora article and others I wrote or am writing (like the User:Mabdul/Microsoft Mobile Explorer), all are referenced at least with some independent references and thus proved notability. You have only added one reference and this is primary source. mabdul 12:18, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
Please check the history of the xxxterm article, it was written just yesterday night. I didn't have time yet to add references. May be You first add refertences and only then write the text they would prove, I do it the opposite way. Anyway, thanks for not deleting the article instantly. — Dmitrij D. Czarkoff (talk) 18:49, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
No I didn't checked the history. But that's the reason why there are WP:Userspace draft and an article wizard to create and improve the article so good that notability is shown. mabdul 19:31, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

editing Frank Harden Radio Personality

THANKS for the cite web info, I will use for sure. In general I am having a pretty hard time finding my way around. Ex. I am not sure how to find your user page, and not sure reqally who you are (an angel I hope because I need help!) You or someone asked about the reference "radio - and it is to a book written by and about Frank Harden - a book I am leaning on for this article since most of what occurred in Washington on the radio is gone - tho I will try to see if there are program archive - I think not. It's strange for me because "everyone (who was in Washington in those years) knows" about Harden and Weaver, yet there is little writing about them beyond a book and a couple newspaper articles. So a statement like "They did not reveal their personal politics in public." describes a widely known fact that cannot really be verified. Anyway I am digressing here, just a tad frustrated with my own lack of ease with Wikipedia. In particular, I am hoping to get the article so well notated that the warning flags are lifted. But who can do that? Hope you receive this note! Much appreciative for whatever help you can give me. I am very very very new to this and really at sea! Thanks for listening! Please reply!!! You must be a very busy person and I appreciate your attention so that I can complete this article to wikipedia';s full satisfaction. Averyhart (talk) 02:32, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

Hello Mabdul, and thank you for helping . I have tried to fix the problem of missing references, but am struggling with some of it and generally having a hard time finding my way around wikipedia. But I will persist! My main question: what happens after I have made the requested changes? How will I know if my edits have solved the concerns? Also What is the process by which the feedback comments are removed from the beginning of my article? Again, I am thankful to you for helping.Averyhart (talk) 03:32, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

about article submission

There is the draft User:swapnali1902/Btowc . I have made request on Wikipedia: requested articles page . How should I submit it on the same page? Asmita yendralwar (talk | contribs) 06:31, 18 October 2011 (UTC)

You already submitted that blank request and it was declined. Please either wait if somebody wants to write such an article (as you requested at WP:Requested articles) or write it on your own by improving your empty submission at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Btowc and improve it. I can't help you even further, since the draft you made was a) empty b) I have no knowlege about this programming language. If you want to learn something about that, try using Google and find a good tutorial. mabdul 09:45, 18 October 2011 (UTC)
What mabdul is saying is: add more stuff to your article and put in terms we can understand with sources. WylieCoyote (talk) 07:14, 22 November 2011 (UTC)

I've declined your speedy tag on Don't Tell Mama because the article clearly makes an indication of why it might be notable (i.e. old, important pub featured in a popular series). This might not be the strongest case, but disqualifies it to be speedied under WP:CSD#A7A&, so you should take it to AFD if you want to pursue this further. HighBeam

I saw your comment at an AFC in which you claim that HighBeam Research is "highly unreliable". Actually, it's the same kind of website as JSTOR or PubMed: a way to find high-quality publications. The actual sources used in the article were from The Boston Globe, whose name you might recognize as the 25th largest daily newspaper in the USA. Saying that The Globe is highly unreliable because you found the article by searching HighBeam is like saying that the New England Journal of Medicine is highly unreliable because you found the article by searching PubMed.

Please do not tell anyone else that HighBeam is "unreliable". WhatamIdoing (talk) 15:31, 24 October 2011 (UTC)

Help with Bloomberg Bios

Hi Mabdul. Hope you are doing well. A while back you helped me with the Kevin Sheekey article I revised by making sure it followed NPOV standards. I do have a conflict of interest since I work with Bloomberg L.P. and it helps me to get input from other editors before I propose any changes.

Would you be able to take a look at a new article for Bloomberg co-founder Tom Secunda? My colleague RivBitz and I have revised the article and it's saved in my Sandbox here. Thanks very much for your help. Ordwayen (talk) 15:29, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Files for upload

What exactly is the reason for this edit? Anomie 00:21, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

I think we should deny your bot because of your Google link task. Although the Google link only redirects, it might sometimes help if the actual page is down. So we could use the cached version. We shouldn't replace the links in the actual requests. In the archives it mostly doesn't matter (for me). There might be more reasons... mabdul 12:49, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
Google's redirect service doesn't work that way. If the target page is down, Google's redirect service doesn't offer any sort of cache. As far as anyone really knows, all the redirect service is for is so Google can track click-throughs on their search results and such. Anomie 14:17, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
So that pages aren't cached then? There aren't any valid reasons to leave them? Mmmh, so then yes, we should allow your bot again. mabdul 14:25, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi as the uploader of this file, I thought I'd best reply to your to request for 'evidence of permission' here.

This file is not a publicity shot of the product as you suspect, but a photograph taken by me in my light tent at home, it was deliberatly taken to be placed on wikipedia to accompany various articles I'd worked on. I do hold the copyright on the file and granted the relevant permission on the file when uploading it.

What's the correct way to make sure that this photo isn't deleted?

I'm slightly worried if the only criteria for suggesting this was not my work was the quality of it, as I intend to upload several similar shots of different objects soon. A light tent is a great way to get good looking shots of small objects, and is actually pretty cheap and easy to use :)

--Flibble (talk) 22:53, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

I have removed the tag. CSD F11 only applies to images where the uploader credits someone else with the image. It's mine and I've granted the usage.--Flibble (talk) 10:32, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

Template:Wikipedia ad exists

I have reverted your changes to Template:Wikipedia ad exists, as they are broken. Could you please take a look and fix it up? I tried to figure out how to fix it, but couldn't really understand what you were trying to do. — This, that, and the other (talk) 10:42, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Okay, although my changes are really unnecessary, can you give me a showcase where it was broken? mabdul 10:59, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
It was displaying a random ad, even when a parameter was passed. This was because you had included the code {{#if:{{{show|}}}{{{1}}}}}, which doesn't make sense, since the #if parser function takes more than one parameter. — This, that, and the other (talk) 11:10, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
With that revert you broke the "showcases" at the bottom of Template talk:Wikipedia ads. mabdul 12:47, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
True. However I don't know what is supposed to be happening, how it works, etc., so I would appreciate it if you could fix it. — This, that, and the other (talk) 23:44, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Hi Mabdul! I think there are enough references now (if you think it necessary I could find more). Maybe we start a new try? As I said, I will upload the logo and a screenshot later. I also put the [[de:Waldwissen] and the 3 categories at the end of the article. Is that correct? P.S.: Should we write in English or in German? What do you prefer :-) ? Jamie Vardy/Varney

Resolved

Hello. Was wondering what made you think the correct spelling was Varney? The only source using this spelling is this FA article which would appear to be a typo. Every source used in the article, Fleetwood Town's website, and the Football Association's registrations list, spell it, correctly, Vardy. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 22:20, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for taking this image to PUF. I was planning to do more on it, but as you could see from the uploader's talkpage, I got distracted with another image. If you follow the wrong procedure, I'll delete anyway if I can see that deletion is warranted — however, because I couldn't see the image, I had to decline purely because you followed the wrong procedures. The problem for me was that the image didn't display: I couldn't possibly assess the quality of the image itself because it just showed up as a little box. Nyttend (talk) 03:00, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

Hello Mabdul

I am writing to let you know that 2 sources can be cited for the picture 'Up Until Now' and the article regarding the Released CD Material. One is this I am Brentley Gore and "Brentley Gore is also User:Sirbrentley at Wikipedia" you may email me at anytime and I will respond ... just use the username and send it to gmail! Also I have had some work done on the article and given them the necessary information concerning the recent release. I can also acknowledge that it is accurate! Would you be able to assist me any further in order to maintain any necessary information. Thank you so much for your time and thoughtfullness.

Best - Brentley Gore — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sirbrentley (talkcontribs) 21:50, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

I don't understand what you want to tell me. If I look at the article, there has nothing changed; If I check the bad quality image, there has nothing changed at the the better quality image File:Up Until Now.jpg I only see that any editor added as source "Brentley Gore is Sirbrentley and owns this Album Cover". (which can be done by everybody). Please if you want to donate/verify the image rights/copyrights/license, go to Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for all enquiries and follow the steps on that page. If the image is copyrighted (which I believe!) then we have to change the image rationale to a fair use image. mabdul 12:27, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

Need your opinion

Hey, Mabdul since I've seen you around FFU. I'm hoping I can bounce something off you, I'm working on Led Zeppelin we are taking it to FA status, I am currently working on the files, checking status, sources and such. I'm a little stumped on this, File:Led Zeppelin logo.png it's a derivative of a deleted file and the {{trademark}} template has my a little confused, my instinct tells me it should be a non-free file, the file description admits they got it off the album cover but, how do I change it to a non-free file ? do I just edit the summary and change things around, upload a new file under fair use and mark this one for deletion ? I stumped :P If you have an opinion I would greatly appreciate some light on the subject. If you don't mind throwing a {{tb}} on my talk if/when you +re Thank you for your time.

No problem. I'm doing that since ~3/4 year and thus gaining a great knowledge about that bad licenses things. XD
The file/logo is totally ok at commons, since it consist only on letters of a "standard font".
For you FAN, you should mark the image as {{should be svg}} or/and ask at the Graphiclab for a "conversion" of the image. You should remove the "Other versions Image:Lz logo.jpg'"-part since it was deleted because of being a scaled down version. mabdul 01:15, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
OH, PS: there is a simple explanation why this "fair use" image is in Public Domain: the easiest explanation is to view and check the example-images at commons:com:TOO. mabdul 01:17, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
Excellent, what a great help. Thank you, off to the graphic's lab :) I might be back to pick your brain :P Mlpearc Public (talk) 01:48, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

Pge: List of Appointment Scheduling Systems

Hi Mabdul, why did you delete Bookeo from the page "List of Appointment Scheduling Systems"? That's what it is, an appointment scheduling system! (Groncali (talk) 12:28, 3 December 2011 (UTC))

removed tripled post and corrected wikilink. Please read WP:WTAF and create first an article about that software. I also deleted the entries because of violating our external links policy. That's the reason that list contains only one entry at the moment and should be merged into the article appointment scheduling software. Regards, mabdul 13:19, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

The Greenwood Encyclopedia of African American Folklore.

Thank you for your comments and edit on The Greenwood Encyclopedia of African American Folklore.

1. I did some other cleanup on the article. Please specifically give me issues you find other than what you deleted.

2. I do not know what catagories this would fit under, that is difficult for me to find...maybe you have some suggestions?

3. The references are all third party, the reviews. I am not sure what the tags are refering to with no third party references.

Thanks Jcooper1 (talk) 22:08, 4 December 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for taking the time to look.

1. If you look specifically at the references they are all third party from book periodicals and book reviewers that sit far outside and away of Greenwood Press (no affiliation at all). Clearly, they are all objective sources. The references themselves may have been confusing because I mentioned the name of the book as to make the reference complete; I have now deleted that. There are MANY reviews of this book and if I put more it will look 'spammy' as you say.

2. If you are requiring more 'background' or a 'history' section then please let me know. I have looked at numerous books in terms of novels and reference materials so to get a good template of what works and has been approved. This is the first book I have done. These examples vary quite widely as per what is approved, I am not sure what more can be added to the page without it becoming junky and overloaded. Obviously, adding contributing writers is not something that you approve of (though these are important people as tot he makeup of the book). Please let me know if another section should be added so to remove tags and get the page cleared.

Thank you for your time, Jcooper1 (talk) 14:29, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

Sry for that late answer. I simply hadn't the time for responding and checking some sites. As you can see, I found some more information about the reviews at the amazon selling list (there are even more reviews mentioned) and the myaccesslibrary page. I styled the information better now. mabdul 02:56, 26 December 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for the help and editing. I will sit down and study what you have done a bit more but I am guessing the tags still mean this page does need more information(?) Jcooper1 (talk) 06:57, 26 December 2011 (UTC)

Resolved

Hi Mabdul, I would like to know how can we remove the orphan tag? Usmanwardag (talk) 17:58, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

When you check Special:WhatLinksHere/Personyze, then you will recognize that no other article is linking to Personyze. If you using the Wikipedia-build-in search engine, you will also recognize that no article contains at the moment Personyze, so I wasn't able to link to create wikilinks to that article. Maybe read also the links in that box on the page. FYI: this maintainboxes isn't bad, it is only a notification for editors that this article can't be found by clicking other articles. mabdul 15:50, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Wikipedia: Formal organization

Hi Mabdul:

I think the right place for this article is as a part of Wikipedia. If you agree, the nutshell banner should be removed, and that text made part of the first paragraph. I have edited the article accordingly. Hope you will transfer it. Brews ohare (talk) 15:43, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Since all issues are already addressed and the article is also already moved, I can tag this as resolved. ;) mabdul 20:19, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

I'm interested in the rationale behind creation of Wikipedia:Formal organization. I went to the WP:AfC but could find no record of the submission for this. I've searched Category:AfC submissions by date for December; nothing appears. Can you direct me to a review? Sunray (talk) 23:46, 23 December 2011 (UTC)

The "record" of any AFC submission is within the article history. Alpha Quadrant was the first reviewer recognizing that the User:Brews ohare was the submitter (who has many edits and is an experienced editor), asking him at User talk:Brews ohare#Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Wikipedia: Formal organization if he wanted to move the submission or really want to have a review. Since the he responded User:Ktr101 (aka. Kevin Rutherford) went ahead and accepted the submission by moving the article boldly (in this case boldly since we never get an essay draft until then). So, there wasn't any real discussion (as always) about the submission (if you ask about that) except the initial confused message to me by Alpha Quadrant in the IRC, asking what to do since this was a tricky case. (with the outcome to leave a question at the talkpage you can read above) mabdul 03:10, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
Thank you very much for this explanation. I note that you refer to this as an essay (though it isn't marked as such). I don't understand exactly what it is: It is not an article; not a policy or guideline; not a project... It seems closest to an essay, but also seems to contain some arguable points. I'm not sure what should be done about it. Any thoughts? Sunray (talk) 07:17, 26 December 2011 (UTC)

Strongly disagree.

You have new message/s Hello. You have a new message at User talk:SMcCandlish#Db-context's talk page.SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō Contribs. 04:16, 26 December 2011 (UTC)

Well, it's moot now. The article creator has added enough material to the articles that they have enough context they don't qualify for speedy deletion and will either become real articles, hurrah, or be AfD'd. The one you declined yourself, however, certainly did qualify for speedy deletion when I A1-tagged it and when you looked at it. An article that is supposed to be about women's billiards in Australia which states essentially nothing but "A survey 70 years ago said Australian women really don't play billiards much.", with no other content at all, nor any explanation why this could be relevant to anything of any kind, is not context, is not a topic, and is not an article, it's just a random bit of context-free trivia (one that actually contradicts the point of creating the "article" in the first place, but that's not a WP:CSD issue, it's a WP:N issue). It was a classic example of an A1 speedy. WP:CSD's canonical "He's funny and drives a red car" example is exactly the same kind of pointless jibberish, and it would still be speedily deleted even if there were a source that said he was funny and drove a red car, because the information has no encyclopedic context. I know CSD quite well, thanks. If the Women's billiards in Australia "article" as it stood when I A1'd it had any additional fact in it at all, that almost certainly would have established context, but it did not. In the other case you mentioned, by the time anyone got to Women's horse racing in Australia, the creator had edited it five times after I tagged it for A1, and it clearly then had context (and a bunch of problems, but context nonetheless); I did not tag that one inappropriately either. It was identical in form to the billiards one, except that someone had added something completely irrelevant to it as well and that did not establish context either (if anything, it made the context even harder to figure out, and this is still the case - the article needs to be renamed because it is not about women's horse racing in Australia it's about women going to horse races in Australia). I no where, no way, no how suggested that just because information was old that it couldn't be context. Don't put words in mouth, please. It wasn't context in these cases simply because it wasn't contextual, like the man being funny or his car being red aren't contextual. It had nothing to do with age. (The age, triviality and irrelevance of the alleged information will be important for WP:N purposes at AFD, though, as will the article creator's blatant original research and source falsification). — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō Contribs. 10:21, 26 December 2011 (UTC)

Yes, I know he or she is brand new, and I understand the impatience. I've been following the article since they asked for help in the IRC help channel a little while back. I'd probably be impatient too if I was in their shoes, what with all the strange cryptic instructions and rules that don't make any sense to a new user.
