Hi - I have only just joined, but find it frustrating when logging in to be give "incorrect password" - This has happened many times, and, then suddenly, I get in. I sent an email to W. I changed my temporary password for a new one and yet again after a few times, this was rejected. Asked for newpassword, received and changed to original password - again rejected - what is going on,please. Can you send me a reply by email to (Redacted) this is because there are so many instructions that I find it difficult to follow although highly educated, lol. - I'm really sorry that I hadn't the time to respond. I was leaving a notice at your talk page because I was slight confused by your original comment you made at the 'Request an Account Interface' and thus I tried to explain for what kind of service you requested an account. You can always request to get a new password by going to Special:PasswordReset and entering your email Address and your username. Still keep in mind: Wikipedia is not connected to Facebook, any Google services, MSN/Hotmail, Skype or any other service! Wikipedia is created by an independent foundation called Wikimedia foundation. mabdul 22:20, 29 October 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: User:WP 1.0 bot/Tables/Project/SFBA
Hello Mabdul. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of User:WP 1.0 bot/Tables/Project/SFBA, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: this was restored after the MfD because the project asked to keep it - see Wikipedia talk:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Index#Possible cleanup. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 22:39, 20 October 2012 (UTC)
- The MfD should be changed, I don't know how I saw the last edit by CBM, but somehow I though it was something against "consensus"... Thanks for digging it up. mabdul 00:58, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

Economic Journal entry
Dear Mabdul,
Thanks for your suggestions for the Economic Journal page. One of the notes suggests that the list of current and past editors for the Economic Journal may not be relevant to the entry. Can you explain why you think this is the case? I thought the list of editors was significant to the explanation of the Journal (many other wiki entries for journals list the current editors). The past editors are also significant because many of these are very famous economists.
If you could advise that would be much appreciated.
all best

- Hi
- I guess you are talking about this edit I made a few days ago.
- I see many problems with this list: first it is not verifiable, second you have always to ask you one question: Would you except such a list, if you open a classic encyclopedia (so a book) like Encyclopædia Britannica? I would guess no, but this is the point: If I'm searching for information about a magazine, company, whatever, I do not exspect a "up to date list" of any advisor board, CEOs or editors. This doesn't help me (as reader) to understand why this company, magazine (etc) is notable and why it has an entry in the encyclopedia. Sadly many Wikipedia editors forget (or ignore) that Wikipedia is not a Linkedin, Facebook, or a page where to place ads.
- I hope that help. Regards, mabdul 14:30, 28 October 2012 (UTC)

cleanup-HTML
Hi. Apologies if I added the cleanup-HTML tag inappropriately. What I was trying to tag the article for was its excessive use of links to external websites instead of wikilinking to internal articles. I removed the wikify tag as it is now deprecated, and replaced it with a current tag (underlinked). Hope this explains my edit. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Orphaned non-free media (File:Butterz.png)
Thanks for uploading File:Butterz.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:16, 30 October 2012 (UTC)

Back to Infoboxes (using "infobox UK place"). I've successfully created a module, with around 12 fields e.g. static_image, post_code... It writes the list into the Project folder on C: - but only the fields you originally typed in! i.e.
- "List of places in Bedfordshire"
- Apsley End~England~51.9934~-0.36804
- Aspley Guise~England~52.0126~-0.6285
- Barton-le-Clay~England~51.9669~-0.4241
The "Make List > Source is set at "Category". I've double checked my additional fields in Modules e.g.
- String static_image_caption="~";
- m = Regex.Match(ArticleText, @"static_image_caption\s*=\s*([^\r\n\|]+)");
- if (m.Success) static_image_caption = m.Result("~$1");
Any pointers, please? Llywelyn2000 (talk) 10:23, 21 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi Mabdul, inspired by this thread on the bureaucrats' noticeboard, I noticed your recent edit to remove a mention of an old bug from the page mentioned in the heading title. Because the bug has caused bizarre oddities in contribution histories, I've undone your edit and improved the description of the bug (with an example). Hope you don't mind. I'm not hellbent on a description of that bug staying in that particular place forever and ever amen, but the bug should be documented somewhere! Graham87 16:51, 15 December 2012 (UTC)
- Mmmh, looking back to that edit I see why I did that, but moreover I understand why you reverted that/why this is still important. Finding stuff in bugzilla is neither easy nor is it usable for most enwp editors. Such an BRD edit is totally okay! Thanks for informing. mabdul 20:24, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

- The IP user who told you not to delete articles wasn't me. I was only asking you if my article will be deleted as it has dead links. Maybe the other user should've created a new section for his/her query; as it doesn't really fit in this one. That's my question. And I know you weren't even intending to delete the article; you were trying to improve it! So thank you for notifying me about the dead links. Hi Mabdul. Sorry about that. I thought I was seeing the Arabic page itself. Putting it through Google translate showed my error :) You said you were going to PROD it -- are you planning to? --Stfg (talk) 17:39, 17 February 2013 (UTC)
- Yeah, I will first try to find some source on google and waiting what happen to the other articles by this user... This one could at least be "notable", although I'm not really sure about that at the moment. mabdul 18:17, 17 February 2013 (UTC)
Hi. At Racha Arodaky: I didn't understand "interwikilink is already available at wikidata". Is there a new system or something? --Stfg (talk) 14:40, 18 February 2013 (UTC)- Never mind, I found it. --Stfg (talk) 14:45, 18 February 2013 (UTC)
- No problem. The wikidata system is very new and thus not all pages have already an "entry" at wikidata. Moreover the existing interwiki link is still (additional) working. But we shouldn't add interwiki links any more over the former text solution. It helps us "later" to reduce the maintain cost/work of keeping the links up to date. Moreover: only a few Wikipedias (I believe 4 or 5) only use the new system at the moment. mabdul 15:44, 18 February 2013 (UTC)

AfC Helper beta
Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I didn't see a better place to comment on the beta of the AfC helper script (it seems a bit esoteric for WT:AFC). There's a bug in 4.1.16b2 with marking a page as under review. It errors out at line 1016:
Error: TypeError: text is undefined Source File: http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=User:Mabdul/afc_beta.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript Line: 1016
Other than that, it certainly seems an improvement over the current gadget version so far. —Darkwind (talk) 19:45, 3 March 2013 (UTC)

Thnks for Sky lantern
Thanks for moving the references out of the way in the Sky lantern article!
However, I noticed that you changed some plain <ref>...</ref> entries to the {{cite...}} template. That is not a good idea. Those templates do nothing useful; they only make the entries longer (sometimes MUCH longer) and more difficult to read or edit. They also generate cryptic codes like "23(12)120-127" (that were invented by stingy publishers to save paper) instead of the reader-friendly "volume 23, issue 12, pages 120-127".
I will not bother to undo those edits, but be advised that changing plain refs into {{cite...}} templates is just a waste of your time, or worse.
All the best, --Jorge Stolfi (talk) 04:37, 13 March 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry?
- Do I make now the references longer or shorter? Most references were horrible unstyled, didn't include any accessdates or date of publishing; no publisher or even no publisher.
- Moreover I don't see any reference which is converter with the "cryptic" code. (And this is not cryptic, this is a well known citation style!)
- Regards, mabdul 16:51, 17 March 2013 (UTC)
- Dear Mabdul,
- Sorry if my comment sounded like a criticism. Of course I can only thank you for adding details that were missing in the refs. (If some of the refs that I added were missing the access date, that was an oversight, as I usually add it,) But I must insist that changing the format of plain refs to "cite" templates is not an improvement, on the contrary. I beg you to consider that. Af for the compact format being " well known" , that may be true among scholars, but it is certainly not among the general public that Wikipedia is supposed to serve.

- The section Distribution has many unreferenced claims;
- why is the section Collections worth for a reader of an encyclopedia? Moreover it is completely unreferenced!
- The section Background includes many designers and names - why are all these names relevant for a reader? I mean if they don't have a separate article at Wikipedia (so aren't notable) then they don't need to be mentioned mostly. Or did you miss to add any interesting for the reader?
- Overall, the article has a real chance to get accepted as it seems to be notable (as indicated by the references).

Requesting DELETION of out-dated USER-page
Hi mabdul, I created User:Penwatchdog/Ballpoint_pen_article_re-write_prep as a prep-area for a full revision of the Ballpoint pen article. I've now already completed the revision, over a few sessions of direct-edits to the actual Ballpoint article. Now that User-page is no longer necessary. I noticed it also shows up on the internet when searching "ballpoint pen" (the actual Ballpoint article AND the User/prep article) and I'd like to delete the prep page to avert any confusion. How can I delete it myself, or what shall i do to have it deleted? (Other User pages I've created will be "moved" directly to become NEW articles, but the Ballpoint User-page was for an existing article, I realize maybe I shouldn't have created it in the first place?). Your advice or instruction is appreciated, thanks! Penwatchdog (talk) 02:43, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
- Actual you can't do it by your own, but you can request a deletion by placing {{db-u1}} at the top. (see Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#U1 for that case and other speedy deletion requests)
- You have done everything correctly: user pages are exactly invented for preparing, creating and improving proposals, articles and other organization stuff.
- Cleaning up (by deleting) old unused user pages is a good thing! mabdul 06:07, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
THANKS for taking the time for reply/advice, always very helpful. While awaiting your reply I investigated, myself, and proceeded as I thought proper. Seems as if I was successful, the page has been deleted. Another process learned! I'll be going-public with a new article in the next 24-hours, it will be Mona Lisa replicas or Mona Lisa replicas & reinterpretations (<is that too-long of a title?) which I'd also been composing on another User-page during free-time. Be sure to keep an eye out for it and send any thoughts/criticisms! Penwatchdog (talk) 02:55, 22 March 2013 (UTC)
- Oh, we have very long titles at Wikipedia. There isn't any real restriction except they have to be useful! Your article title is a short title.

about using wikipedia pictures
Can I use any image on wikipedia without copyright violation? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Asmita yendralwar (talk • contribs) 09:52, 21 March 2013
- Depends: At the English Wikipedia are many images uploaded under " fair use". These can't be used. If an image is uploaded to Wikimedia Commons (click the image) then you can be sure that it is licensed under a free licensed like CC-BY-SA or GFDL. Please keep in mind that not every free license allows you to do everything with it. You have to name at least the original contributor(s) and in some cases you have to license a derivate under the same license! mabdul 13:15, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

- Rather simply and a rare case: In this edit Rickylio (talk · contribs) requested a review, but the substitution of the template wasn't correctly saved in the database of Wikipedia, and thus in the next edit (by you) it was enlarged with you as submitter. A few edits later OrenBochman (talk · contribs) declined the submission [8] and the AFC Helper tool notified you (correctly). Regards, 13:53, 30 March 2013 (UTC)

I've been examining this user's edits in a number of areas. It all started when I saw him accepting a large number of Doncram's articles through AfC in a manner that seemed hasty. I've only had a chance to review a few AfC articles where I've noticed that he declined two articles that were obviously Copyvios for reasons other than copyvio, but need to look at more before I bring it up on the project talk page. Is there a way to get a list of all of his AfC reviews this month? Ryan Vesey 00:03, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

Sophie Matisse by Penwatchdog
Mabdul my friend, I've got another problem beyond the range of my abilities; briefly as possible: I've recently gone "live" with another new article for Sophie Matisse (I was able to quickly build an article from source material I came across while assembling Mona Lisa replicas and reinterpretations material, upon discovering she didn't have an article of her own). I'd compiled her sources and laid them out offline, then cleared out this&that I'd been storing in my main sandbox so I could move Sophie in and finalize her article there. I did so, but when I was finished and moved her article out of my sandbox, I noticed: my previous Sandbox activity unrelated to her article appears in the "View History" listings. There's nothing top-secret there, but I'd rather it NOT appear there; first of all those activities and the information showing there have nothing to do with Sophie and her article. Is there a procedure to DELETE everything PRIOR to the "Move" from that "View history"?? Penwatchdog (talk) 17:34, 7 April 2013 (UTC)
- First a general note: you don't have to add the 4 tildes to the edit summaries, as they aren't rendered in the edit summary, moreover the time and the username is already "saved". (as you cansee in the history tab here.
- Second to your actual problem: I would ask an admin at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen to fix the edit history including some useful hints like "revision numbers" (e.g. the last revision before the move includes the id 549027718 as you can see in the URL of [10])
- I hope that helps you again.
- I will read your new article tomorrow morning at work. ^^

If you are accepting an article and check then un-check the BIO box, 3 of the PersonData checkboxes remain. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 23:39, 7 April 2013 (UTC)- If you have Wikiproject templates in the text to prepend to the talk page, it also gets prepended to the article page. Economy map response
- Resolved– Discussion find its place at Mcnabber091's talk page. mabdul 12:30, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for your advice and the editing tips.
I do believe this project is redundant. Wikidata and my project have different goals. Wikidata is a database. My project is an economic model.
There are many databases in the world. The World Bank has a ton of data. The IMF has a ton of data. Wikidata will be another huge collection of data.
The value added of this project is the specific combination of data presented on a single page. The exact combination of data provided is crucial because it is a very concise way to explain an economy. Economists can help determine the best way to present the information. It's comparable to the periodic table in Chemistry.
This project is specifically aimed to improve public understanding of the economy in a simple format. Wikidata would not address this problem since it's top goal is to be a database for all topics.
The Wikidata introduction page says, "(Wikidata) will allow easy reuse of that data by Wikimedia projects and third parties, and will enable computers to easily process and “understand” it."
I believe that the projects can be complimentary. The Wikimedia Foundation is a great collection of projects. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mcnabber091 (talk • contribs) 17:21, 10 April 2013 (UTC)

Wikignome,
The post on West Wetlands Park is a class project and what is posted so far just represents part of our ultimate goal, but we wanted to get the beginnings on line to facilitate student editing.
I understand that some of the West Wetlands post did seem like generic park activities. However, some of those activities are somewhat unique to the park, such as the childrens' creative castle or disc golf.
In addition, a major point that the finished article hopes to make is that the park is a multi-use park that combines standard park activities with riparian habitat and wildlife restoration. The goal out here in the Yuma area is to ultimately create a large riverside group of parks that will allow numerous native species to return and save several endangered ones. The genius of the planning process has been to start with this park, which appeals to a wide swath of locals and visitors, and which helps empower the process of further restoration. While those activities may seem very generic, most of them will not be done at East Wetlands Park, another part of the local system that is still under development.

There is a clear distinction between the Global Economic Map and Wikidata. The Global Economic Map focuses on the economy, while Wikidata focuses on all data for all topics. The Global Economic Map will specialize in presenting economic data in an educational way. The draft article for U.S. economy is designed to be concise without excess information. rejection of submission
Dear Sir,
I refer to your rejection of my submission on the grounds that “This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources.” And specifically that “The complete section "Career" is still unreferenced. For example I would like to see a reference for the bar code claim.”
Unfortunately at the time of Ponnamperuma’s many accomplishments it was not customary to indulge in self-aggrandizing as is the case today. While some of his work was acknowledged in public media (Retail World Magazine for example) I have not been able to track down references to these now. I doubt there is anyone in Australia would dispute his career credentials or his accomplishments. Ponnamperuma at Payless Supermarkets was the first to implemented barcode technology in supermarkets. However there is no written proof of this today. It is for this reason that I watered down the assertion to read “one of the first”. His compatriots would certainly vouch for the accuracy of this information. As a matter of interest I searched a number of entries on Wikipedia to see if the criteria being applied for this article on Ponnamperuma were also being applied to others. I enclose a random sample. I also searched Bill Gates then his father and mother. Neither of his parents’ career credentials (while no doubt are valid) are supported by “reliable sources”. Please forgive me for I am new to all this. During my editing i seem to have lost the link to resubmit. I believe I finally got the citations correct and if you would give it a quick glace I would appreciate it.

Disambiguation link notification for April 28
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Comparison of platform virtual machines, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Wind River (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi Mabdul, I need site references for my posting on Neighborhood Toy Store Day. The event has many references from bloggers, but I'm not finding references from print media. Are blog references (these are "Mommy" bloggers mostly) acceptable?
Thanks for your help.

Article on Spoken English Corpus
- Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Spoken English Corpus (edit | project page | history | links | watch | logs)
I am completely baffled by your rejection of my article on the Spoken English Corpus. I have been working hard to improve WP's sometimes inadequate coverage of phonetics for some time now, and have always assumed that one followed the normal conventions of academic writing that I learned in a career of over 40 years as a university teacher and as a widely-read author of academic textbooks. I wrote the article on the SEC because I get so many enquiries about it from researchers around the world, and produced it as a normal piece of academic writing. Now I am told to "collect some good reliable web sources" as if I was some inadequate student trying to pass off a piece of inferior work. I am seriously thinking of giving up on WP altogether. I have read all the WP guidance on references, and still cannot see what your objection is. Please could you explain? RoachPeter (talk) 18:52, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
- I'm very sorry that I hadn't earlier time to recheck this draft. Beside the formatting issues (I will/would fix if this draft is accepted), I still believe that all references are written by involved persons.I never said/wrote that this topic isn't notable; actual I believe it is, but it lacks independent sources... Wikipedia has some key policies which are not always easy to understand. At the moment it is a "no" by me, but simply resubmit it and another reviewer might think differently than me. mabdul 23:23, 8 May 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you for the feedback. I have also received some advice from other editors - enough, I think, for me now to see how the article needs to be rewritten. I have found it very hard to come to terms with the principle that the references in an article such as this should not be to work by people who have had a personal involvement in it. In the case of a research tool such as a corpus, generally the people who write about it are the people who have used it and thereby helped to develop it further. As it happens one WP editor has drawn my attention to one authority who has commented on the SEC without (as far as I can see) having used it, so I can include that reference, but that's just a lucky break. Otherwise, I can't see how I could ever rewrite this article in such a way that writers who have a personal involvement with the corpus are excluded from the references. Unfortunately, other articles I was thinking of submitting (on topics in phonetics that I can claim expertise in) are going to run into the same problem, so I think I'm going to have to stick to editing existing articles where I feel I can contribute something. New declined article net mobile AG

Dear Wikignome,
thank you very much for reviewing my article about net mobile AG. Thank you for your support. Unfortunately, you declined my article because of citing. I would be very happy if you could specify whether this refers to some few citing problems or all and how I can improve them as it is my first article on English Wikipedia.

- Ref #10: primary source (official page)
- Leaving us to Ref# 2,3,5: all very short and looks like a repost of press release. No reference is analysing and talking about the company indepth. Nor can't any source be called as independent or third party. Please read WP:42 and the relevant links on that page. You might also have a look at WP:FA and WP:GA for our finest works.

ADELI Medical Center
Hello Mabdul, I have made substantial changes to the article about the ADELI Medical Center at: http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/ADELI_Medical_Center. The article itself has been considerably shortened by excluding information which could be considered unreliable. I have added a link to the Business Registry at the Department of Justice of Slovak Republic as means of verifying the basic information about the company. I have further left there two links from the SCOPE charity which collects all the information on treatments and therapies for kids with cerebral palsy and other neurological deficits. I also tried to create a hyperlink for the ADELI Suit as there is an already existing article about it, but I don't think it is properly done, so if you could take a look at that, I would appreciate it very much as well. Please let me know if I need to provide more reliable resources, given the article has ben substantially edited out.--Fixxer85 (talk) 09:29, 8 May 2013 (UTC)

David Harding
Hello Mabdul, back in October 2011 you helped me with an expansion of David Harding (finance) which I had prepared on behalf of Mr. Harding's firm, Winton Capital. They've come back to me recently, pointing out some aspects that are now outdated, and just yesterday I recommended a few changes on the article's Talk page. By any chance would you be interested in looking at this again? Cheers, WWB Too (Talk · COI) 15:37, 30 May 2013 (UTC)

I saw your review of Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Dr. J.C. Batra, in which you said, "I didn't read the article" . I can tell that, because you also said "his title is noted as being Prof. Dr., however, one cannot have the title Professor and Doctor at the same time excepting that they are hold a doctorate and a teaching position" . The article gives his doctorate, and lists his professorship as "faculty member, Faculty of Law, Delhi University" and several honorary professorships. That's enough to support the title, and it's characteristic for an distinguished practicing professional in a field like law and medicine to hold such positions. The links to bookshops are not advertising links: they're verifcation of the book titles, and they'll do for that, tho they are not ideal.
We need to respect our contributors. I would never review an article if I weren't prepared to actually read it and evaluated it on the basis of what I read. You declined on the basis of "inadequate sources," but it would have helped to explain that the sources needed to support the most likely notability, NAUTHOR, are book reviews.
The actual problem is the promotional tone, which will require extensive rewriting. I gave the ed. a personal note, & will follow up. an ed who repeated resubmits an inadequate article needs more than a template. DGG ( talk ) 02:51, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
- Hi DGG,
- Actually in my initial first comment I wrote that I didn't read the article [17];
- ~50 revisions and ~1.5 months later I actually did a "fresh" review (and reading the article) [18]; and declined the article as the sources still were not justifying.
- The problem with the bookshops: really a simple ISBN is mostly better than any like to amazon or any other bookshop. As we all know that many AfC submissions are self created by the "subject" (e.g. a music band) or by a PR agent/agency, they often try to increase the selling... mabdul 05:32, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
