"Wiki Homework"
[edit]Hi - I moved the article you created "Wiki Homework" to User:Lgkirst/Wiki Homework as it should be in user space because it is not an encyclopedic article. If you have any question feel free to ask me. "Pepper" 20:01, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
Wiki formatting
[edit]Hello Logan,
This is how you link articles in Wikipedia using double square brackets: [[Antarctic Peninsula]] giving this result: Antarctic Peninsula. For a heading use the ==Heading== and use the triple quote for making something bold, but not at the same time as the heading markup. For an ordered list use # on the beginning of a line. The lines will be numbered. To get a new line put two enters in so that a blank line separates the paragraphs. Or you can use <br/> to break a line into two, but this is not the preferred way.
I notice you have a User:Lgkirst/Wiki Homework and User:Lgkirst/hw. It look like you have made a double effort there! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 20:44, 3 October 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Meeting of the Indian and Southern Oceans, Cape Leeuwin AU.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Meeting of the Indian and Southern Oceans, Cape Leeuwin AU.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Your topic
[edit]Hello again Logan, I see that you have worked out how to use images, but had a lot of trouble with getting everything right! For your file: File:Indian Southern Oceans Meet.jpg you should state some more information, to say what this is a picture of. I suspect it is you, but others that come across the picture may have no idea of that. The Information template is the thing to uses for that, you would have had a chance to fill in a form when you uploaded it. THe important thing to know is the source, how did the photo get taken and how did you get to own the copyright, so that you can grant a license to the world with the CC license.
Drawing diagrams is a lot of work, it can take 4 hours or more for one image. Since you are doing some research there is an important policy to read Wikipedia:No original research. This means that you should not announce your discoveries first on Wikipedia, but that Wikipedia should contain material that is published elsewhere. I am not suggesting that you will get into difficulty but you should know about it before hand. You will be in a strong position to know the published literature on the topic and will be able to select the best references. Will you create a new article on the geology of the Antarctic Peninsula or just add to the Antarctic Peninsula page? The name Antarctic Peninsula’s subduction zone tectonics sounds to be a narrow topic for Wikipedia, so I would suggest a broader term for the actual article name. I am not suggesting that you change your research, I am thinking about how it should fit into Wikipedia. It does not mean that you have to write about the parts you are not interested in, just leave that to someone else! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:29, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

File:Antarctic Peninsula Cross Section.jpg
[edit]Hello, some comments on File:Antarctic Peninsula Cross Section.jpg. I am pleased to see that you followed up on the suggestion to have this. For the appearance in the thumbnail image I suggest that you make the text in the image at least twice as large so that it is legible. There is a red ellipse in a white circle and a whiote ellipse in a red circle, but there is no explanation of what they mean. If there was trench rollback happening I would have expected remnants of subducting oceanic crust further to the right, but it is not in the diagram. The grey lump north east of Bransfield rift is probably an Island with a name which could be included. How fast is the rift expanding? There is a yellow hook under the Antarctic Plate label, does that mean anything? B would be clearer than A'. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:55, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
Geology of the Antarctic Peninsula
[edit]Please do not use first level headings inside an article. Per the Manual of Style we use only first level headings like =Foo= only for page names. That's why I cleaned up your formatting. De728631 (talk) 18:06, 13 November 2011 (UTC)
License tagging for File:SamAntpenseparation.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:SamAntpenseparation.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 18:06, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

DYK
[edit]Hi Logan, Geology of the Antarctic Peninsula has now been promoted to the Template:Did you know/Preparation area 3 from where it will go into a queue and then spend 8 hours linked from the main page. You will be the second last one of your class to get an article on Did You Know. (Unless those that missed out write a new article). 09:04, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
DYK for Geology of the Antarctic Peninsula
[edit]On 2 December 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Geology of the Antarctic Peninsula, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the Antarctic Peninsula has experienced subduction for over 200 million years? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Geology of the Antarctic Peninsula. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

[edit]Hello, I'm Doug Weller. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Graham Hancock, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Doug Weller talk 18:53, 17 March 2023 (UTC)
- What was in the original verbiage was complete conjecture. Should not be allowed as modern Archaelogy has started to have differing understanding of history. Look it up. Lgkirst (talk) 19:03, 17 March 2023 (UTC)

- Wikipedia shout NOT be a consensus machine, it should allow differing opinion and get entirely away from having slam pieces against people who have a differing professional and scientifically backed thesis. Lgkirst (talk) 19:05, 17 March 2023 (UTC)
- I get an orange notice because of "vandalism"? Even though science has started to more consistently back his research, I am vandalizing by editing out slander? Lgkirst (talk) 19:06, 17 March 2023 (UTC)
