Keep
Its important to keep the page on the filmmaker and journalist Katya Soldak because she is one of the important Ukrainian voices out there right now shining the light on the Russian war on Ukraine. A page on Wikipedia amplifies her message. Soldak frequently speaks publicly about the war in Ukraine, Ukrainian identity, media and importance of Ukrainian perspective in covering news.
Most recently she spoke about documenting the war at the Night of Ideas in NYC: https://nightofideas.org/new-york/people/
In May 2022 Soldak moderated a panel Defending Freedom From The Frontlines, featuring with Ukrainians remotely connecting from the battlefield, for Ukraine House Davos during the World Economic Forum in Davos. Lermanalexandra (talk) 15:30, 28 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for your opinion, but you wrote it to the wrong place!

Please go to deletion discussion (click this link) click on reply on the very end of the discussion and post your opinion agan start with the word Keep. --J. Lunau (talk) 15:38, 28 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you J. Lunau! Is it too late to add the edit summary field? I can do after the fact. Lermanalexandra (talk) 14:11, 29 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You are most welcome, I am happy to meet a supporter for the Artikel Katya Soldak. About summary field: it is not possible to add the any Edit summaries, after your changes are published. But it's fine, when you use Edit summary from now on, like you did in your last edit. Don't worry about your older edits without summery, it's OK --J. Lunau (talk) 15:51, 29 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, may I ask you if I can add a page in Russian and Ukrainain to this one?
I got drafts which were auto translated and now trying to figure out how to edit the text. Thank you Lermanalexandra (talk) 15:57, 29 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I my opinion it is most important to have artikles with topic Ukraine and the ongoing brutal war in russian and ukranien language. That's, why I already asked a native speaker in my home wikipedia to put the artikels The Long Break Up and Katya Soldakt there (maybe you can understand it through google translate): [1]. I would advice you, not to poste any auto translated texts but to wait untill natvie speaker will add the articles. If you do not speak the languages, it would be very hard to read and response any messages from other wikipedia users. But of course it is not forbidden and you can give it a try. Therfor you have to go to russian Wikipedia and ukrainien Wikipedia and start the articles in same way, as you did here. I hope, my answer helps, greetings from Germany -J. Lunau (talk) 16:55, 29 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much, Great! Thank you. I am a native Russian speaker and I created the page from scratch and waiting for approval. Its in the incubator at the moment: https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%98%D0%BD%D0%BA%D1%83%D0%B1%D0%B0%D1%82%D0%BE%D1%80:%D0%9A%D0%B0%D1%82%D1%8F_%D0%A1%D0%BE%D0%BB%D0%B4%D0%B0%D0%BA
How did you find my first attempt at making the page about Soldak? Were you the one who created the page in German?
Thank you. Greetings from New York Lermanalexandra (talk) 17:44, 29 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I saw Soldaks documentary on german TV and was thrilled, so I started an article in germany wikipedia about the film de:Das Ukraine-Dilemma, the article de: Katya Soldak was already started by another user. I started both articles in english wikipedia and by searching a photo for the articles I found your account at commons. Your talk page (this page) told me, that you already tried to do an artlicle about Soldak and her film and I decided to let you know about the second try for this articles. J. ru Incubator article Katya Soldak

[edit]

AfD for the article here in Englisch Wikipedia is closed and the article is kept. So now you can concentrate fully on your article at Russian Wikipedia. Because I do not speak any Russian, I use your discussion page here to talk about that. To me it looks like, there are already some useful hints on ru discussion, telling you, what to to, to bring the article into main name space. As far, as I can understand with google translater, one thing is about the links in your article. Please pay attention not to place internet links in the article text. It is a general rule in all languages, not to have links in articles. I keep my fingers crossed, you can do the Russian article, good luck --J. Lunau (talk) 23:20, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you,
I'm not sure I fully understand about not having internet links in the article text.
Is it OK to have them as references or should I be selective when I place a reference?
Thank you so much for your guidance! Lermanalexandra (talk) 17:43, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You are welcome.
About internet links, you have to be very selective in general because Wikipedia is an encyclopedia (lexicon) and not just a web directory full of links or space to advertise.
References are meant to be used to make the facts in an article proofable. This means in the very most cases just one good reference it enough (see Wikipedia:OVERKILL).
For your article in in russian language you should always prefere references to sources written in Cyrillic letters (russian language). I can not read this letters, so I am not able to replace the actual links with better ones in russian language. One good sourec I found is VOA.
I hope, this will help you a bit. Maybe you should ask a native speaker in russian wikipedia for help. You could try to talk to George Chernilevsky He already took part in the AfD discussion here and he lives in Ukraine. Greetings --J. Lunau (talk) 12:01, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Your Article Katya Soldak is now out of the Incubator and further actions are needed now to move it into main space as a fully wikipedia article. I am sorry, that I can not do this because of lack in speaking Russian, but maybe you could ask some native speaker like @George Chernilevsky: or @K8M8S8:for help. Greetings --J. Lunau (talk) 11:53, 4 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Your russian articel Катя Солдак now is proposed for deletion! Please go to the russian article Катя_Солдак and take part in the deletion discussion to prevent deletion. I can't help anymore because I can not read or write any russian texts. --J. Lunau (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 08:38, 24 May 2023 (UTC)  Done[reply]
