re. Latin - Traditional Mongolian - Cyrillic automatic transliteration of Mongolian Wikipedia

[edit]

Hi, I am afraid this is not going to be easy - this is not just about transliteration, but also the orthography of traditional Mongolian is quite different from that of cyrillic Mongolian (say, cyr. Mörön is classical Mören, Khovd is Khobdo, Shiliin gol is Sili-yin ghool), and I don't think there is a simple and complete set of rules to switch between the two. I.e. you will have to implement a whole dictionary, not just a simple transliteration table. This is possible - it has been done before by some Inner Mongolian company, I think - but again, not easy.

That said, I am also no native speaker, so I am afraid I can not really be of much help. Regards, Yaan (talk) 17:59, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, the situation with Mongolian is quite different compared to other languages using several scripts. It seems likely that you'd end up with a full dictionary instead of a transliteration table. There is no point in automatically transliterating to latin, because there is no established standard for that. --Latebird (talk) 19:21, 7 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the tools needed to create Cantonese-Latin Transliteration

[edit]

Please make http://zh-yue.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E9%A0%AD%E7%89%88 Cantonese Language wikipedia capable of converting its Hanzi version into the User:Penkyamp transliterated version as in the Kazakh, Serbian, Kurdish wikipedias.

Penkyamp 输入汉字软件可以下载了 (You may now download the Penkyamp Cantonese Hanzi Input Software)

http://zime.googlecode.com/files/plume-1.1.zip

http://zime.googlecode.com/files/plume-1.1-data-penkyamp.zip

解壓縮 plume-1.1.zip,得到文件夾 plume-1.1/ (Unzip to get folder Plume 1.1)

解壓縮 plume-1.1-data-penkyamp.zip,得到文件夾 json/ (Unzip to get folder json)

把 json/ 置於 plume-1.1/ 內,即可用瀏覽器開啟 plume-1.1/Plume.html (也就是那个名为 plum 的 html 文件,点击就可以显示输入网站)。 (Put json folder in plume folder. Then you can just open Plume Html with Firefox/Browser)

這裡有個簡單的說明書: (More instruction on the ZIME input method website)

Nyole

[edit]

Hey,

If the Nyole speak Olunyole, who speaks Nyole?

I made changes based on the claim that Luhya lects are mutually intelligible. However, I suspect that that is only partially true, and that they do not form a valid clade dialectologically. Don't have time today to work it out. — kwami (talk) 17:01, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sindhi Wikipedia

[edit]

I am interested in conversion of Sindhi (Arabic script) to Devanagari. This will facilitate the younger generation in India to read the Wikipedia. How can I help? --92.8.202.26 (talk) 12:57, 23 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You may develop a seperate Sindhi Wikipedia in Devanagari script if you feel that you are linguistically familiar and can help. Currently, Punjabi Wikipedia has two versians - one is in Gurmukhi - whilst the Perso-Arabic Shahmukhi edition was created later. I think we can do the same for the Sindhi language. Note that wikis undergo experimentation and creation in "Wikimedia Incubator" prior to being established. Mar4d (talk) 11:53, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cantonese Wikipedia in Penkyamp

Hanzi - Latinised automatic transliteration of Cantonese Wikipedia

There may be the possiblity of setting up a Hanzi - Latinised automatic transliteration of Cantonese Wikipedia on the same principle as it works in Kazakh Wikipedia. (see more info, Kazakh converter)

However we need an Cantonese native speaker to help us write the comparative table with letters and transliteration rules. Then we can create such converter.

If you wish to help us, contact us.

I would LOVE to work with you. Also, my friend Fozhen has invented a Cantonese Penkyamp input system. Please let all the Cantonese Wikipedia collaborators know the following links, which may help them get the job done in a more efficient way. Thank you very much! Following is Fozhen's link: online Cantonese Penkyamp imput generator:

粵語拉丁拼音係由中州粵語 Penkyamp 拉丁粵文打字機直接網上輸入。以下係網址: http://zime-web.appspot.com/static/typewriter/main.html?schema=canton

Please send by email, or on my User Page in English Wikipedia, the necessary links and vocab you wish to transliterate into Penkyamp. I will get this done as soon as possible. Thank you! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Penkyamp (talkcontribs) 00:18, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited Czech gold brindle chicken, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Egg, Hen and Chick (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
