Image of the UML Diagrams

[edit]

Hi, thanks for creating the collage of UML diagrams. I updated some of the data of the image, see here, otherwise the image would have been removed soon. Now if you don't agree, let me know, or just change it the way you like it. -- Marcel Douwe Dekker (talk) 16:53, 5 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. I noticed you used about 14 images. Could you add to the image description which types of models you added..?

Done. Thanks.Kishorekumar 62 (talk) 08:25, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I made a start with a general introduction in the UML class diagram. I wonder if you could take a look an check a thing or two. Maybe add some more. -- Mdd (talk) 03:03, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Indian Astronomy

[edit]

Hello Kishorekumar_62. I noticed that you previously contributed to the Indian astronomy page and have some understanding of the primary and secondary sources cited. Your perspective would be very helpful in resolving the dispute over theorized greek influence on Indian astronomy. Please see here: http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Talk:Indian_astronomy#Indian_and_Greek_Astronomy Thank you. Devanampriya (talk) 23:54, 9 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Kishorekumar_62. Thank you for your voluminous comments as well as summary of the academic debate. They were most helpful in demonstrating the uncertainty in the field. Apologies for presuming to give you a recommendation, but could you please sign your comment on the talk page. It was probably the most scholarly on there, so I want to make sure you get proper attribution.
Also, Athenean failed to respond to your old comment on the talk page about Rev. Burgess when he unilaterally removed that content. The dating of the surya siddhanta--like all hindu texts remains very questionable, so Burgess's view, especially given the fact that he's not indian, is particularly noteworthy given his times. I know you stated your position on the page, but the Billard debate demonstrates the originality of hindu astronomy--which, whatever the chronology--effectively debunks the argument of greek derivation. I don't think we should be so quick as to dismiss burgess's contention of indian influence on greek astronomy--should at least be mentioned as a minority position. Also Kak summarizes how Billard's findings contravene not only the chronology but derivation as well, see here: source. Thank you again for your comments, and please do remain engaged on the page. I know we don't agree on everything, but your comments are most valuable and will ensure a hint of scholarship to a very amateurish article. Thanks. Devanampriya (talk) 08:49, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
thanks for the kind words. This debate or originality of Hindu astronomy seems to be ver ancient. Pingree vs. Van der Waerden is predated by Burgess vs. Whitney.
Ironically, Whitney was the editor in chief of Burgess's excellation translation of Surya Siddhantha. Whitney went ahead and added a severe "Greek original" pitch to the translation. Burgess found it necessary to submit an additional 10 pages putting forth an Indian origin. Both these perspective are found at the end of Burgess's translation and make for interesting reading. This indicates that nothing has changed since 1856 when this translation was published!
it may be worth adding a new section to the Hindu Astronomy page to discuss this origin debate.
Kishorekumar 62 (talk) 13:22, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Kishore. I absolutely agree! Since I represent the maximalist view and Athenean is my direct antipode, perhaps you should take the lead in crafting the verbiage and restructuring the article given that you walk the madhya patha, if you will. Please do continue to post on article talk and include any other useful sources you may come across. Best,Devanampriya (talk) 05:20, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Kishore, it unfortunately looks like things have taken a turn for the worse on the Indian astronomy page. As you can see, Athenean refused to accept any reasonable proposal from our end. Since he refuses to negotiate I restored the status quo ante before he added all the irrelevant edits about alexander of macedon, etc. Now he's sending some new user Dr.K to disrupt the page protect request (until mediation) and edit war on his behalf. Your comments would be appreciated on the Indian Astronomy page--thank you.Devanampriya (talk) 04:11, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Kishore, our dispute has gone to the Dispute Resolution noticeboard. Principal editors are requested to comment on the page, see here. Please make an opening statement under your assigned heading to give your perspective on the issue and dispute. Thank you. Devanampriya (talk) 21:00, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Participation - Merger Proposal

[edit]

Hello, you have been selected at random to leave a comment regarding the proposed merger of Duke of Edinburgh's Award and International Award Association. Due to the low traffic these pages receive it is likely there will not be enough participation to establish a consensus in the absence of personal invitations of this type. Seven users were randomly selected to receive this invitation. The discussion is here. Thanks for any input you can offer. BlueSalix (talk) 10:59, 20 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
