Copy edit

Thanks for the feedback. By the way, do you know any active members of the Copy Edit Guild? I looked through their members, but there's just too many of them, so it's hard to keep track of who's active and who's not (and I've enabled pop-ups). Maybe I can ask him/her to look at the articles. Thanks. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 12:07, 10 January 2013 (UTC)

I'm not even sure if I've ever asked the guild for help before. Maybe I did back in the day, but definitely not since 2007 probably. However, there are the new yellow pages which list a few copyediters.-- 12:16, 10 January 2013 (UTC)

Two new articles

Well I just wrote two new articles: Yuka Ōtsubo and Sachika Misawa. They're still under construction, and at the moment, I've included only their anime roles. Could you help out with including these roles? Also, I couldn't translate their Biography sections on their Japanese Wikipedia entries because Google Translate's inaccurate as always. Can you help out? Thanks. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 10:05, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2006 film)

Hi. You removed the Category:Japanese films from The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2006 film) saying it was overcatting. I actually agree, but it says right on top of the category "For convenience, all Japanese films are included in this category. This includes all Japanese films that can also be found in the subcategories.". As far as I know it's the same for all other categories of films by country. Assuming this was decided by the Film project, any change should be discussed there.--Cattus talk 23:32, 24 January 2013 (UTC)

Good Article Review

Hi! This is Judgesurreal777, and I wanted to say thanks for editing and improving Fortress (Square Enix). Golden Time

Thank you (as a group: this system doesn't permit multiple message recipients) for having restored the article for Golden Time and having brought it up to your standards. I will leave the maintenance of it up to you guys, while I keep up my own (somewhat) parallel information over at Baka-Tsuki. I notice you guys kept most of my translations for the volume names; I will hold off judgement on the differing ones (particularly v4) until I get to that point in translating the series . . . if I do: with increasing interest in the series there may be other, more qualified translators interested in working on the books too. So far, I believe the only reason I've been left alone to work on the series has been because there is far too much work for B-T to do, and far too few translators available to do it. For me, it has been far more an exercise in learning Japanese than one of trying to provide a translation of this particular story, or providing one quickly. --Rpapo (talk) 11:22, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

Sprite website

Hi Juhachi. Just a quick favor. I live in the Philippines, and I can't seem to access Sprite's website. I keep getting a 403 Forbidden error. Knowing that you live in the United States, can you check is the website's blocked there too? That's because there's an external link to the website in the KoiChoco wiki page, and this could possibly be problematic for the article's readers. Thank you. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 03:46, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, it's blocked outside of Japan. Various other game developers do this too, like Visual Art's and Minori.-- 04:07, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

Madoka development section

Per your comments on the talkpage, I've moved the first paragraph of the Anime section and spun it off into its own Production section. It's still short for now, but it's workable. For now at least, what still needs to be done before it reaches B-class or even GA-class? Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 22:18, 26 April 2013 (UTC)

The difference between B and GA is pretty much its GA review. For GA, more production and critical reception (reviews) would be needed. The plot is also kind of disjointed, since there's the main plot/setting, and then a short summary of the manga. I think it'd make more sense to keep just the manga plot info in List of Puella Magi Madoka Magica chapters, and then revamp the plot in the main article to cover the entire story of the anime, though of course keeping it sufficiently small, kind of like what I did with Shakugan no Shana. A question

Can you read and translate Japanese? While we have our differences of opinion, my Japanese is pretty poor so I've been stuck reading Chinese pages. I'd ask Nihonjoe, but he seems busy though. Oh.. and just to be clear it isn't about hentai. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 03:49, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

I can, but I don't think I'd have the time to translate anything big. First of all, what do you need translated?-- 10:40, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
The original transcripts of Ghost in the Shell from Japanese... at least portions of it to make sure that the differences between the literal version of the Dark Horse and the Kodansha version. They do matter, sadly, but the difference between the versions to the nature of their translations is beyond my grasp. I have the original books from the Dark Horse release and I have the second version not done by Toren Smith. Smith's one is arguably the better one, but I don't have the three versions to compare examples from them. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 13:12, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
So you just want me to compare the translations to the original text and see which of them is more accurate?-- 20:44, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
Essentially, the Toren Smith one is held by numerous communities as the 'literal' one and often the best, but without comparing the various versions side-by-side the matter is subjective. I wanted to place the original Japanese, English, Toren Smith's translation side by side, but I have no insight as to what the said text would be. While scans of pages do exist, the technical notes and philosophical exposition drives the work to its cult status. I'd need someone to explain not only 'why' the translation is better, but about the interpretation itself, for insight not OR/SYN. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 02:22, 8 May 2013 (UTC)
I don't think I'd be much help with the interpretation of a translation without being better versed in the philosophy of the series. It might be interesting to see the differences, however. Professional translators are notorious for less-than-literal translations to improve fluency in the target language; another reason why scanlations are so popular, I assume. This request seems kind of involved, and it doesn't seem like you need this to improve an article, either. Are you just curious?-- 03:48, 8 May 2013 (UTC)
Actually it is for the article. Toren Smith passed recently of undisclosed cause, but his translation has been used even by Kodansha, which says something about its popularity and quality. Numerous fan and other reviews bolster it, while they do not meet RS, they are definitely RSes on their own opinions. It is part curiosity as well, Toren even noted that the terms Shirow used were sometimes made up, resulting in desperate searches for them (taking days sometimes) only to learn that. It was not an easy translation by any means and I do want to cover it in some form. I've appealed to Lucia and Ryulong about the manga article, while I want a topic-level overview, if we can push the manga to FA I'm sure a topic-level overview will be welcome at that point. We've lost so much content and time on the silly argument. I just want it to hit FA. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 15:17, 8 May 2013 (UTC)
It's more likely that Kodansha merely didn't want to pay another set of translators to produce their own version when there was already one available. That's a lot of time and money wasted otherwise. But anyway, even if I did this, I don't see how you'd be able to use it in the content of an article. If reliable sources don't discuss the quality of the translation, then you wouldn't be able to include it in the article.-- 21:03, 8 May 2013 (UTC)
I'm not forcing you to. Don't worry about it then. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 02:34, 9 May 2013 (UTC)

About what Vocaloids are

Hi there. I'm here to talk about Vocaloids (more Wikiformally Vocaloid products). I'v seen that in all these years Wikipedia almost universally treated all Vocaloids as products/singing software/pieces of technology - an exception being addressing Miku as "she" and "her" in "it's" article.

I know all about the Wikipedia NPOV/verifiability/etc blahblah, but I do think that individual Vocaloid products - especially since Yamaha developed the V3 engine - are getting more and more defined by a persona. Most of them are named, designed, and marketed as if they were some kind of imaginary, virtual singers. Even if that isn't the intention of the studio (despite human-like "product names" and anime character boxarts), the strong prosumer and fandom aspect of Vocaloid makes them to be known as virtual singers.

We can/should call them (individual Vocaloids or groups of them, not the Vocaloid(tm) technology itself) not only products in a business sense, but virtual singers/idols, personas, soundbanks or voice banks. Practically everyone, fans, critics, media, sources, the world at large usually refers to them not as "products", neither individually nor in general. I feel that this whole persona aspect is somewhat ignored in the style WP treats Vocaloid "products". That's why I made that move.

By the way, I don't know why soundbank isn't a word. It's a fairly common word used in the IT/gaming industry, Worms Armageddon's worm speech sounds were in so-called "soundbanks" back in 1999 (there was even a "soundbank editor" bundled). "Hyngulyngus" isn't a word, "soundbank" is one, combining the meaning of sound and bank; a cache/pack/collection of sounds, which on a technical level, Vocaloids are. Plus the bundled engine + editor interface + "packaged" persona (at least suggested by the boxart depiction). IMHO calling them simply products is rather bland, and misses something about the Vocaloid phenomenon which became more than tools for producing artificial singing for profit.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you think we should just treat the personas as products even if practically everyone (even reliable sources like Vocaloidism) call them soundbanks, voice banks or virtual singers/idols/whatever?

Vocaloidism #1

Vocaloidism #2

Official Crypton Twitter - As far as I can tell with Google Translate, the guys at Crypton referred to "DBs" which might stand for "databases" in their terminology. But they certainly didn't used "products", at least not here. And it might be just Crypton, but still.

Cheers. --Rev L. Snowfox (talk) 18:31, 11 May 2013 (UTC)

Well first of all, Vocaloidism hasn't proven itself to be a reliable source. A discussion on the WP:RS/N would have to be done first before that can be determined. As I said in the edit summary, while "soundbank" may be used by the community at large, it is still a neologism not found in any standard dictionary, and per Wikipedia guidelines should normally be avoided for a more standard term. Wikipedia isn't meant to pander to any fan community (WP:FANCRUFT), so the most neutral way of describing the Vocaloids would be to call them "products" because they are, in the end, packages of software for synthesizing singing. The personas are secondary aspects tacked on for marketing purposes, and putting more weight on that would just be a form of advertising; specifically, "Information about companies and products must be written in an objective and unbiased style, free of puffery" (as quoted in WP:NOTADVERTISING point 5).-- 20:38, 11 May 2013 (UTC)

Karuta

Since you're pretty much the Key expert on Wikipedia, and because I've run out of other leads (such as ANN, Japanese Wikipedia, Twitter, last.fm etc.), I have to ask you this. Basically, what ever happened to Karuta? The singer of Ichiban no Takaramono? Obviously LiSA is doing quite well with her solo career, and even Marina's still active (although not as famous as LiSA), but I can't seem to find more information about her. Even Japanese Wikipedia doesn't seem to have an article about her, while the only song of hers that I could find is Ichiban no Takaramono. So what happened to her? Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 09:45, 27 May 2013 (UTC)

Sometimes these things just happen; I didn't see anything of Hitomi Azuma after she released her second single 2 years ago. I never saw anything of Karuta after Angel Beats, so I don't know anything. I also don't think there'd be any way of finding out unless she reappears. On a related note, it's good to see Marina finally making her solo debut.-- 10:13, 27 May 2013 (UTC)

Marina

Thanks for writing the article for Marina. It's surprising that someone whose single went gold in Japan didn't have an English Wikipedia article until now. It's probably DYK-quality, although since LiSA was a DYK already, the blurb would probably be the same, and thus not as interesting. Any thoughts? Thanks. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 04:16, 31 May 2013 (UTC)

It's been over a year and a half since that DYK, and it got about 5,400 hits, so I don't think using the same hook would be bad. However, it is currently too short; it needs to cross 1,500 characters of prose to be eligible.-- 05:32, 31 May 2013 (UTC)

Wandering Son

Hi,

I'm just wondering what the rationale is for using the issue numbers rather than the actual dates, there. That doesn't make much sense to me. Note that I don't have anything against specifying the issue numbers, far from it, but that doesn't seem to be the right place for it (whereas it sounds fine to me in a sentence like "It began serialization in the December 2002 issue of the monthly seinen manga magazine Comic Beam, and will conclude in the August 2013 issue."... at the very least, it doesn't say the serialization began in December, but rather in the December issue). Besides, for monthly magazines, you'd generally get "almost-accurate-but-not-quite" months, and for weekly magazines, bimonthly magazines and so on, it would be even worse. I think readers would simply expect dates, there, and "real" ones... Erigu (talk) 06:59, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

A long time ago, there had been a discussion about this at some time, and it was concluded that using the issue date throughout the article, especially in the infobox, was preferred as they are easily verifiable, by either primary sources (the magazine itself) or reliable sources which more often than not will cite the issue date, not the sale date. The date in which a magazine came out may vary, and it is unlikely that the sale date will be on a given issue, but the issue date is always there for monthly/bimonthly magazines. Since weekly magazines don't do this (as they usually just have an issue number), the sale date is usually used. In short, it's about verifiability, not truth. Anything in an infobox should be able to be attributed in the article (and if it's not, there should probably be a cite in the infobox for the information).-- 08:30, 6 July 2013 (UTC)
Thank you for your reply.
It still seems fairly odd to me that specifying the sale date of a monthly magazine would be considered iffy (in this particular case, it's actually fairly easy to source), whereas, as you just said, it's common practice for weekly magazines anyway... Ah, well. Erigu (talk) 16:27, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

The year articles

Thanks for helping clean them up a bit, I've been trying to add content to them and fill them out, but a couple of my methods backfired on me. One was going to cover the releases, but I want to list only 25-50 works or so max and not every single one. If every work was listed the page would balloon to the 100s of entries for recent times. I also disagree with the "1950s" in anime, while probably a better starting point, in hindsight of course, plenty of events occur from the 1950s on. Even individual years can be very notable. At least 18 relevant films (widely known) debuted in this era, namely the first televised anime "もぐらのアバンチュール" / Mole's Adventure. This and other reasons are why I am particularly annoyed about our coverage of anime. The actual claim for this has existed since 1977 as well, while originally unconfirmed, the re-broadcast is in three days on Animax! I'm not sure why we are late to fixing this either... Shall I do the honors or you want me to bring this up at the project page? ChrisGualtieri (talk) 04:23, 18 July 2013 (UTC)

Not everything needs to be brought to the project's attention, especially if it is uncontroversial, i.e., anything that is added that can be attributed to a reliable source.-- 04:49, 18 July 2013 (UTC)
It seems some editors have an axe to grind and are intent on disparaging my contributions with no intention to assist. I suppose I do not need to be a part of the organizational pages at all, it was foolish to try and be open and welcoming, but I can be certain that someone will be furious with me even if I provide a valid source. Lucia was upset I used Litten's work; I use plenty of other sources... And I'm not going to add anything that isn't able to be sourced and verifiable, but I'm not some schoolboy who consumes the material purely for my own amusement. I found the problem. It had a play at the Broom Street Theater, but the film itself screened at the Bleecker Street Cinema. I have separated it into two sentences. I said at the nomination page that I fixed the issue, but can you give another green tick so that whoever promotes it knows that the issue is resolved? SL93 (talk) 12:16, 31 July 2013 (UTC)

Help.

Hey can you take a look at List of Sword Art Online characters there seems to be a new editor making edits based on WP:FANCRUFT and refuses to visit their Talk Page, even after I have repeatedly explained their errors. KirtZMessage 00:39, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

While I do agree that the user's edits focus on adding in in-universe detail to the character page, it's not that different from how that page has been edited in the past. I don't condone adding in what basically constitutes plot summary with little to no sources other than the primary work itself, but the user at least appears to be doing this in good faith, and while misguided, doesn't constitute vandalism. Other than citing our policy about excessive plot summary, there's very little else you could do. Character lists are tolerated because they keep excessive in-universe info off the main article in the case of series which have very large casts of characters; that's not to say that 99% of character lists aren't in very bad shape. Most character lists today would probably be in violation of the spirit of WP:FANCRUFT (remember, it's an essay, not a guideline/policy), but we still tolerate them because they're excepted to be there.-- 01:28, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
Hmm, alright, that explains why the treatment of character lists always seemed a bit odd to me, even while some of them seem to be ignored. Thanks for the note. I'll still aim for keeping an acceptable reading aesthetic without too many superfluous details. KirtZMessage 05:05, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

Sigh. This isn't a debate, I just wanted to point something out, I completely respect the edits you made to the last 3 ONAs but somehow I feel insulted that you attributed my writing to a "a fan is gushing over it" when I base all of my summaries on a highly accurate neutral perspective, and compensate when there are obvious difference in interpretations of events. (Such as my last edit following yours whence I only added a mere 200+ characters of text) I feel as if the reading aesthetic had somehow been downgraded during the recent spontaneous edits but I'll rewrite them to improve this. The goal here should be to find an equal balance between quality and quantity and not just quantity although I'm all for smaller summaries. Don't you agree? >> KirtZMessage 09:05, 26 August 2013 (UTC)

RE: Duly noted. I've already read those. Alright, I retract by previous statement, Wikipedia has been stressing me out lately, in addition to other things disconnected things. I should have seen the obvious flaw in that summary and am disappointed in myself; I'll thank you for pointing that out. I'll look forward to more of your guidance in the future. >> KirtZMessage 09:27, 26 August 2013 (UTC)

Okay now. On the Final Fantasy 14 soundtrack issue, there has to be an actual article to the soundtrack to have the article at retention. If there's no article, there's no need for a topic to be on retention.

And now the bigger issue. So you want to be a delegate for FTC. You have been helpful with the retentions and a bit of maintenance here and there. However, there is one thing that I'm concerned with. A lot of delegates have come and gone very quickly. It is rather unfortunate that I am the only original delegate remaining so I really do hope that I will get assistance if I am to consider you for delegate status. GamerPro64 02:33, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

Alright. I'll set you up as a delegate. I do need assistance with topic nominations and you seem to be a good choice. GamerPro64 15:48, 2 October 2013 (UTC)
You have a point on the issue. We should probably call for a vote on amending this though. Most likely some people may not like being able to vote for something that they helped with unintentionally or something like that. Also, I will mention in the nomination that Ed's support is disregarded. GamerPro64 23:34, 7 October 2013 (UTC)

So I have another Topics nomination that I need a second opinion on. Since we have sort of a backlog I was about to get a few processed but I'm not entirely sure what this one's consensus is. Should it be closed and have the topic made or should it stay up to let the coach get its GAN done? GamerPro64 19:02, 6 December 2013 (UTC)

Crunchyroll in anime infoboxes

I have a question: In Btooom!, KirtZJ has added Crunchyroll as an English network, and argues that it is common practice. Is there a consensus for (or against) adding a streaming website as a TV network (or a licensor) in articles? I thought the |network_en = parameter is meant only for TV stations, and the |licensor = parameter for companies releasing physical media in their territories; am I wrong? Is this issue discussed anywhere? Raamin (talk) 02:57, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

I've seen Crunchyroll being used in both fields, and it's really done on a per-article basis. I suppose it would be the equivalent of using Netflix as the network in {{Infobox television}}, but whether Crunchyroll or Netflix qualifies as a channel or network seems like a gray area. There are original programs that Netflix has aired, like House of Cards, so for instances like that it makes sense. But with Crunchyroll, while it's not the original broadcaster, it's often the first official "broadcast" outlet outside of Japan. So there's no real guideline for or against its use, though I personally do not subscribe to this practice, especially since it's contentious and prone to getting reverted on a regular basis, I've seen.-- 05:25, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for a detailed answer. Raamin (talk) 20:43, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

Clannad (visual novel) etc. for FA?

Well it's been a while since I talked about this. About a year ago, I posted over at WT:ANIME that the Key-related articles—particularly those for Clannad, Angel Beats! and Little Busters!—were probably of a good enough quality for FA. Taking a second look at the articles, I feel that they are pretty good; in fact, they are some of the best written articles I've seen for an anime-related article. Right now, I'm thinking of nominating at least one of them (either Clannad or Angel Beats!) for FA, but right now, would that be a good idea? Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 03:52, 26 October 2013 (UTC)

I personally don't think either Clannad nor Little Busters! would have a chance at passing FA, mainly because of a need for a complete copyedit and probably some referencing issues. There is also a lack of reviews for the games, instead relying on reviews for the anime adaptations for both those series, something that a GA may be able to get around, but I'm not thinking it'd be so easy for FA. That's also why I think Rewrite probably wouldn't work for FA either, even though I feel it has one of the most comprehensive and best-written gameplay and development sections of all the Key games. Angel Beats! on the other hand doesn't have these issues, and once the first game comes out next year, I'll likely split the character list out (the games are bound to have new characters), so it'll make an FA review easier.-- 04:24, 26 October 2013 (UTC)

Fascism at »Little Busters!«  -- Refrain #5 and Refrain #6

Juhachi:

I am glad to see that you are in a good way after our previous engagement and that the rumors of your demise have turned out to be vastly exaggerated; still, humor aside, I do wish to object your response to my attempt to improve upon the episode synopses [[3]]. I believe that the annotation was "clumsy? these summaries are now unreadable" ... that is the exact reason I revised those episode synopses. My main emphasis was upon Refrain #1 along with Refrain #5 and Refrain #6.

My objection with Refrain #6 is strongest because of its text which is as follows:

After Riki and the others after Rin leave the school without a word, Riki is then left with the impression that Kyousuke sent her away and that he is trying to break apart the Little Busters. Riki continues getting text messages from Rin saying that she does not know what to do at the school, and he all he can do is tell her to "hang in there". Concerned for Rin being isolated, Riki decides to go after her, but he is stopped by Kyousuke, who makes a deal that he will bring her back for weekends only. When Rin come back the following weekend, she is depressed and stays in bed. Riki goes to Kengo for advice, who tells him he has to fight Kyousuke to keep Rin from going back to the school. Kyousuke agrees to settle it over a baseball game with Masato as his partner, but Riki and Kengo ultimately fail. Kengo claims that Kyousuke rigged the game and punches him before being restrained by Riki and Masato. The next morning, Riki tells Rin that they are running away together. They travel to a house in the country where they played as kids, but they are eventually discovered by the police who raid the house.

The portions of the synopsis in italics are what I am objecting most fiercely. In contrast, this is what I added:

Upon seeing off Rin's wordless departure, Riki is certain that Kyousuke wishes the Little Busters disbanded for some obscure reason; upon receiving text messages that make it clear that Rin is in over her head at the school, Riki rushes off to mount a rescue attempt -- a volition that Kyousuke promptly interferes. It does not take much of the weekend visit for Riki to realize that it would not be weird for the despondent Rin to commit suicide if sent back to the school; galvanized by Kengo's counsel, Riki challenges Kyousuke who proposes a scaled-down baseball game after importing Masato's participation on his behalf. Powered by his fierce rivalry with Masato along with his determination to dry-dock Kyousuke's plans, Kengo fights fiercely to where the baseball game is a stalemate until he ultimately realizes that it would not be weird for Miyuki Koshiki's suicide attempt to be part of the curriculum; still, even with the enraged Kengo landing a punch on Kyousuke and Riki's hasty decision to bug out with Rin the next morning, it definitely appears that Kyousuke's curriculum will bear fruit when a police raid uncovers the two adolescents.

See how concise it is? Ignoring the bit about Rin's wordless departure, the old text uses 23 words to describe what Riki thinks are Kyousuke's intentions; in contrast, my synopsis only uses 14 words for the same purpose. Riki rushing off to Rin's rescue -- 23 words in the old text versus only 15 in my version. Riki importing Kengo's counsel about how to stop Kyousuke -- 23 words in the old text are used to describe Kengo's counsel and why Riki is importing it; in contrast, my synopsis uses 21 words to cut right to the chase.

Refrain #5 Old text:

Members of the Prefectural Assembly are expected to make an inspection of the school and realizing that it is part of the "final task", Riki and Rin volunteer themselves to guide them around. Despite Rin's shy demeanor, she manages to guide the visitors properly and they later invite her to take part in a student exchange program to help the students of another school overcome a tragedy that claimed the lives of some of their classmates. Riki at first asks Rin to decline their invitation, but he later realizes that this could be an important experience for her to grow as a person. However, when Riki tries to encourage her to take part in the program, she gets angry at him and ultimately accepts the invitation. On the eve of Rin's departure, Riki realizes that all the tasks they received helped her to mature and improve her confidence. He concludes that it was all a part of Kyousuke's plans, including inviting Komari and the other girls to become part of their group. His suspicions are confirmed when Riki finds Lennon with Kyousuke and then he confronts him about the "truth of the world" he mentioned in his letters. However, before getting some answers, they are forced to run away after being caught outdoors during curfew and when Riki trips over, Kyousuke disappears in front of him.

My text:

Galvanized by the epiphany of how heavily an upcoming inspection by the Prefectural Assembly plays into the »final task«, Riki and Rin offer themselves as tour guides during homeroom; while the tour goes over well in spite of Rin's shy demeanor, it soon turns out that Rin did her job a bit too well when she is invited to take part in a student exchange program to help the students of another school overcome a tragedy that made fatalities of their classmates. Riki's ambivalence about whether Rin should accept the invitation comes to a head when his well-intended encouragement draws Rin's ire for overstepping his bounds; later that evening, Riki's reflection on the data of Rin's metamorphosis from helping Rin perform all the tasks they received along with the circumstantial timing ignites the advent of an epiphany that Kyousuke is not the true blue friend he appears to be. Seeing Lennon being friendly with Kyousuke ultimately confirms Riki's hypothesis; still, even if he knows that Kyousuke is prosecuting a curriculum, Riki soon finds that getting definitive answers is easier said than done when he trips and is left behind in Kyousuke's mad dash to evade some sentries.

Note how concise it is -- particularly with the part about Riki's ambivalence as to whether Rin should accept the invitation. 27 words in the old version versus only NINE in my version.

Juhachi ... I could sit here all day pointing out the flaws in your reversion after adding in the synopsis for Refrain #1; still, since it is a beautiful day outside, I will cut right to the chase by reminding you that Wikipedia enjoins that its editors not behave toward episode synopsis pages as a plot summary and to not bite or assume bad faith of the newcomers. Granted, I am not exactly a newcomer; still, I am feeling rather bitten that malice has been assumed as a motive for my efforts. I am not sure what comes across to you as readable; still, there is a certain method to the composition to Wikipedia that I am doing my best to comply and the rules do encourage editors to be bold with their efforts. No matter how much you behave toward me as a vandal, you need to face the fact that I am not going to be a stranger here on the English Wikipedia just as I have with you.

Dispute in P3 film article

Can you please share your thoughts on this matter? I am arguing that the user can't name the animation studio the "producer" of the film, based on current available sources. If the "producer" parameter is reserved for persons' names, shouldn't it be empty in this case?
There is also this dispute: "Persona 3 The Movie: Chapter 1, Spring of Birth was produced by AIC ASTA using a team consisting of Persona 4: The Animation's production committee along with a few new additions, hence forming the Persona 3 The Movie Production Committee" isn't backed by any reliable source. Animation staff is not related to production committe members. I think this is a case of WP:SYN; provided sources just list the animation staff of each product. Hello there

Hi Juhachi. I am Ryoga Godai. I would like to ask you something regarding an article I'm working on. Cardcaptor Sakura, an article you expanded, is on my watchlist and I must say it's wonderfully written. Well, the article I'm working on is Kimagure Orange Road, by Izumi Matsumoto, and I am kind of stuck. There are 3 novels released, one of them was even adapted to a movie. Should I describe their plot, I mean the novels, or should I just mention what they are about? I know this is out of the blue since I have not had any prior communication with you. However, seeing that you're an active participant of the WP:ANIME project, I wanted to ask. Thank you. ごだい (会話) 12:34, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

Princess Princess

Hey, sorry to bother you. This is about the anime "Princess Princess". Near the end of Episode 2 (~20 min) it's said (in english subtitles) that Yuujirou Shihoudani is the Eastern Princess and Mikoto Yutaka is the Western Princess. So I corrected this in the article because it was the other way round. But you undid it. I'm just wondering now if the translation in the anime is wrong and if you've got better sources to rely on. I hope you don't mind me asking. Anyanka92 (talk) 20:16, 11 December 2013 (UTC)

Anthony Appleyard and RMs

Hi Juhachi, Anthony Appleyard is an admin who does a lot of work with technical move requests. In certain cases—you'd have to ask him about the specifics—he'll convert a technical request initially posted at WP:RM, along with the statement contesting it, into a formal RM. So even though in the talk page history it looks like Anthony wrote all of that himself, he's really importing it from elsewhere. It just so happens that in the case of Free! it was Anthony himself who was contesting the request. --BDD (talk) 04:33, 12 December 2013 (UTC)

Hi,

Just in case: I didn't make those "seasons" up. That's how the novels are divided, according to the author. I thought that would make the whole thing a bit clearer, especially considering the animated series used the "Monogatari Series Second Season" moniker for their adaptation of the novels of... well, the second season (the same thing might happen for the final season, actually). Maybe a short explanation about that in the introduction would help?

As for the details I removed from that introduction:

1) It seems a bit odd to me to indicate that the series began with two volumes released on different days.

2) To say the series began when the first novel was released wouldn't quite be accurate either, as those stories were first serialized in Mephisto (starting in 2005). Hence the change to "the first novel was released in": at least that's accurate (and follows the example of similar articles for manga series, as far as I can tell).

3) I don't quite get the point of talking of the novels from Kizumonogatari to the most recent one as "one group" and of the two Bakemonogatari volumes as one other, as the current formulation does. Why not simply do the same thing as similar articles and list the release dates of the first and last volumes (just the first one, in this case, since the series isn't over, and a mention of the number of volumes available as of xx/xx/xxxx)?

4) Talking about the number of prequels and sequels only serves to muddy the issue, in my opinion, especially considering there's a number of cases that aren't all that clear-cut. Was Nekomonogatari (Black) a prequel? To Bakemonogatari, sure, but it's also a sequel to Kizumonogatari (and that would just be for the time of the action, not the narrator's time). Are we going to start talking about interquels? And the second and final seasons become increasingly complicated, chronologically speaking. Koyomominogatari in particular is tricky, as the stories all take place in different times, even going back to the "prequel period" mentioned earlier.

5) Is it accurate to call Koyomimonogatari a "short-story collection"? It's composed of several episodes (like other books of the series, in fact), but it's not like those were unrelated stand-alone stories that were published separately here and there and eventually collected as one book.

In short: personally, I'd rather stay away from unnecessary, possibly confusing details concerning the chronology (surely, there would be other places to discuss the plot), avoid that seemingly arbitrary division between the Bakemonogatari volumes and everything else, and try to be as accurate as possible. I realize that shortened the paragraph quite a bit, but... Well, one thing that would seem somewhat relevant to mention there would probably be the Mephisto detail mentioned above, as that marks the actual start of the series. Possibly also a quick mention regarding the author's (really) short stories that are published outside of those volumes (in guidebooks, newspapers and such)? What do you think? Speculation on Flow (band)

Hi there, I saw that you've been contributing some edits on Flow (band) (like this one) which I think constitute speculation (see WP:CRYSTAL). I've removed this content from the page for now: is this appropriate? See also WP:NM which says "Unreleased material (including demos, mixtapes, bootlegs, promo-only recordings) is only notable if it has significant independent coverage in reliable sources." I'd be interested in hearing your opinion. —Mono·nomic 04:48, 22 December 2013 (UTC)
