Uploading images to Wikipedia

[edit]

It's actually not as complicated as it may seem. You don't need to actually obtain permission from the station or company as long as it's used in the typical infobox format. They are considered fair use because it is used only to make the article more user friendly.

Start by clicking on Upload file under tools on the left side of the page.

There are a few different ways to continue but I use "Old Guided Form",
 then click "image from a website"
  then click "Choose file" to add the image from your computer ( which you have previously downloaded to your computer )

In the file description start with

   ==Summary== (above where it says {{information
    then replace {{information with {{Non-free use rationale logo

I forgot to mention that you should edit/resize the image on your computer before choosing the file - to eliminate extra space around the image. This eliminates that extra whitespace that you sometimes see in the infobox.

  After {{Non-free use rationale logo

add the Source which is = the website where you found the logo add the Article which is the = radio station name add the Use which should be = infobox add the Portion_used = complete image add the Date = today's date add your signature = the four ~ then put }} at the end

after that there is the licensing section; it should be

==Licensing==

followed by

{{non-free logo|image has rationale=yes|Radio station logos}}

then Save changes

you can click on the files which I have uploaded and then "edit" to see exactly what's on that file page. I hope this helps!! Go to edit this page to see what you add to get the licensing box. Rudy2alan

Renaming logo files

[edit]

I forgot to mention that many radio station logo files should be renamed BEFORE you save them to your computer downloads folder. The file names should begin with the radio station call letters; this will make it easier to do a Wikipedia search of the file at a later date. I generally used this format: radio station call letters(space)station branding(space)logo.(file type) As an example you can look at the image files which I've uploaded to Wikipedia but here's an example (not using actual call letters): WWWW Country106 logo.png - then to do a search someone can type File:WWWW etc. to find the file or of course the current file can be found on the radio station Article itself on Wikipedia. Rudy2alan

I did that for one of them, but then Wikipedia said I couldn't do it, because I did the translator name, but it said that it can't be that, because the file name is bad (according to Wikipedia), even though it should be allowed. Normally, it would W293CM_B1065, but I had to rename it as WERCHD3_B1065, because Wikipedia wouldn't let me name it as the translator call letters for that file. Other times, translator names are fine. Jonathan7157 (talk) 15:59, 20 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. I gave you some advice on your message wall. Keep the pages as they are, but put the old digital & virtual channels on the "former channel numbers" section and put the new ones on the "channels" section. I gave you an example with WFOR and WTVJ, and how they kept their histories, but also swapped channels. What Entravision did was a channel swap, not an affiliation switch. Why would you escalate the conversation to this point? I'm only giving you advice. Just look at the example I did with WVEA-TV and WFTT-TV. I changed the channels, but I didn't move the pages. You should've done the same with the stations in Orlando, Albuquerque, and Denver. Jonathan7157 (talk) 04:16, 6 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Then why don't you go ahead and do them then? Mvcg66b3r (talk) 04:29, 6 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Eldoradio moved to draftspace - unreferenced

[edit]

An article you recently created, Eldoradio, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Your draft article, Draft:Eldoradio

[edit]

Hello, ChocoMingo. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Eldoradio".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. If you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 22:23, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Hitz939, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Watts. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Notice

The file File:W262BL 1003TheBeat.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-free former logo being used in a WP:DECORATIVE manner in WMXC#Previous logo which fails WP:NFCC#8. Non-free former logos can be used as long as their use complies with WP:NFC#cite_note-4 and this almost always means the logo itself about the logo and the associated change in brandling that led to its replacement is the subject of sourced critical commentary. Simply adding the logo to "show" what it looks like is not considered sufficient to satisfy WP:NFC#CS, except in cases where the logo is being used for primary identification purposes at the top of or in the main infobox of an article about the organization the logo represents.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Marchjuly (talk) 14:13, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
