Martin Davies (Author) (Speedy Delete)
Boy, you didn't hang about did you? that must have been there for all of fifteen seconds before you tagged it! The guy is an internationally published author. Don't see why he wouldn't be notable enough for inclusion. Google search on The Conjurer's Bird for clarification. ElectricRay 00:05, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- My mistake! If I was going to tag it with speedy it should have been for little or no context and not "importance". In that case I should have just labeled it as a stub, and not a speedy. It definitely has enough importance; thanks for the notice. jj137 (Talk) 00:13, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- Cool - I thought it seemed a bit odd. thanks for clarifying ElectricRay 00:18, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
- No problem- it was a mistake that needed clarifying. jj137 (Talk) 00:19, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

My Rfa
Thanks for voting in my Rfa, which I withdrew from yesterday. Though I did not get promoted, I see this Rfa as being a success nonetheless. What I got out of this Rfa will help me to be a better, all around editor. Because of this Rfa I have decided to become better in other areas of editing. I'm not going to just be a vandalfighter. Though vandalfighting is good, being active in all areas of editing is even better. Have a nice day.--SJP 22:33, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Club Penguin
Yeah, I saw that. Fine by me, I had never heard of the website before, which is why I nominated it for SD. I still think that "Club penquin" isn't a very likely typo, but it's fine by me. :) Cheers, faithless (speak) 20:35, 2 November 2007 (UTC) You put this up for speedy delete because of spam; that was fine, I just went ahead and redirected it to Club Penguin. jj137 (Talk) 20:33, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

- Yeah, I see what you mean. I knew it was spam, but I realized it would have at least a little good being a redirect instead of being deleted all together. jj137 (Talk) 20:39, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your support
Thanks for your support with respect to my request for adminship, which successfully closed today with a count of 47 support, 1 oppose. Question
Should the featured picture for today be protected? It is on the Main Page, and if vandalized, would mess up the whole Main Page. jj137 (Talk) 19:24, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
- The Main Page is under cascading protection, so any page or template that is currently transcluded onto the main page, including the FP template, is also automatically protected. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 19:37, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
- Of course, you do not actually know it has been automatically protected until you actually click on the "edit" link and see the
"This page has been protected from editing because it is transcluded in the following pages (which are protected with the "cascading" option enabled)"
message. This is a web usability bug that has not been fixed for several months. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 19:47, 3 November 2007 (UTC)- Ah yes, I see that now. I guess I made a mistake of not actually clicking "Edit this page". Thanks for the help. jj137 (Talk) 16:33, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

2008 Astros
Why you change it? What reasons did you have? My reasons for having it like that was that it is easier to edit mainly be cause I edit it. And don't tell me that because everyone's else is like that. HouAstros1989 07:36, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, I am not sure how familiar you are with wikipedia but these are not your game logs or articles. We have had several lengthy discussions at WikiProject Baseball about these game logs, and have agreed that they will be editable on the articles until they are completely finished (at the end of the season), and then they will be moved onto a template. You may change the colors back to the way they were, but please do not do anything more than that. Hope this helps :) jj137 (Talk) 16:26, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
Re: Stub tag
Hi, you probably already know this, but in your "stub tag" script, you may find a line like this:
document.getElementById('wpPreview').click();
If you change to say:
document.getElementById('wpSave').click();
it will automatically save instead of just previewing. As an option, you may want to add this in somewhere to give people an option (but it's your choice!). I just wanted to know what you thought of this. Thanks jj137 (Talk) 15:41, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I already know. When I write scripts, I don't normally give the option to automatically save if there's a reasonable chance of the script putting the tag in the wrong place, like there is with this script (say if the page already has interwikis), so I automatically jump to preview mode so that the user of the script can make sure that it worked properly. Hope that helps! --ais523 11:21, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the help there! jj137 (Talk) 16:23, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for reverting the vandalism to my userpage! :) Aleta 21:19, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- No problem! I saw what seemed to be a relatively experienced (and fine) user who all of the sudden decided to vandalize...I checked out his other recent edits and saw a few other vandal edits that had gone unnoticed. jj137 (Talk) 22:22, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
Your AfD nomination
Thank you for nominating Quintus Pedius (deaf painter) on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. After reviewing this article and its sources, I have decided to close this nomination as a Speedy Keep because it seems to me that this individual is clearly notable enough for inclusion. I have added some additional comments in the AfD itself for your consideration.
If you feel strongly that the AfD should continue, please indicate to that effect I would have no objection to reverting the closing and allowing the discussion to continue for the remainder of the 5-day period. In any case, please continue making your valued contributions to Wikipedia. Regards, Newyorkbrad 03:05, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
Adoption
Hi, I see you would like to be adopted! I am willing to adopt you; I am very experienced, having been here almost a year and a half and accumulated over 8200 edits. Let me know what you think; you can leave a reply here or on my talk page. Thanks! jj137 (Talk) 17:12, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I would like to be adopted by you! I don't know how to get started on editing Wikipedia though... --Slightlydamaged 18:10, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- I'm sorry it took so long to get back! First things first, you should probably change your userpage from {{adoptoffer}} to {{adoptee|jj137}}. After that, it's entirely up to you where you edit. Some of my favorites are to hit the random page button (and make minor edits to whatever comes up) and go to whatever articles interest you, read through, and then see what you can change. I will always be here for any questions, comments, etc. you may have. (Also, I'll put this conversation on my talk page for convenience.) jj137 (Talk) 21:49, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
Adding Unreferenced Tags to New Articles
Adding an unreferenced tag to an article that was created 1 minute ago, as in the example of Protective Services Detail, I don't feel that it was necessary for you to add the tag since it had been created. http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Protective_Services_Detail&action=history Please consider good faith upon those editors who are creating new articles to make appropriate changes in the first "x" amount of minutes in order to make necessary add-on's and tweaks, including referencing their material. -TabooTikiGod 11:49, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, I know. It is sort of just a "temporary" thing to alert the author of the article that they should add sources in case they forgot, that's all. jj137 (Talk) 21:09, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
- I made it clear on my talk page that all responses please be made on your talk page and not mine in order to keep the discussion in one location. -TabooTikiGod 04:57, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Your bot
For your bot, could I please have a copy of the source code that makes it add WikiProject tags? Thank you. Dreamy § 22:03, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- Well, that's just what I have to work on. I can't seem to find a Python script that would do the trick; I imagine AWB would work, but it won't let me login there because I haven't been granted access to that (or have bot status granted). jj137 (Talk) 23:31, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- If you go to this page, and add
* {{AWBUser|your username}} ~~~~~
then you should be approved.
Dreamy § 23:34, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- And you can add that to the bots section. Dreamy § 23:36, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- OK, I've now done that. Do I have to wait until my bot is approved before I get "bot status"? (That way I can actually use the bot tasks on AWB and not just the ones for the normal user.) jj137 (Talk) 23:41, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- All you must do is wait, and it should be approved at any time. Dreamy § 23:43, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Help
I'd like to know how to get some of the cool things that are on your page. Status Bot is one. Another thing the cool things on the right side of your page. I'd like to know where and how to get those. Thanx! --HPJoker (talk) 01:55, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- Reply:
To get Statusbot on your userpage, just add Category:Wikipedians who use StatusBot on your userpage and add {{User:StatusBot/Template}} anywhere on your userpage. I assume the things on the right side you are talking about are userboxes. (You can find some here.) What I did to automatically make the userboxes look nice and neat:
{{userboxtop|HPJoker}} {{userboxbreak|toptext=}} (all userboxes here) {{userboxbottom}}
If you click edit on my userpage, you can see the templates used for my userboxes. The userbox you can use for WikiProject Red Sox is {{User WPBoston Red Sox}}.
Hope this helps! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
jj137 (Talk) 02:46, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- I'm a big Chiefs fan, but all I see for the Chiefs is that dumb thing with KC. How can I get the Chiefs logo on there? --HPJoker (talk) 03:58, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- Reply:
- I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Could you explain a bit more? This may help:
{{Userbox |id = id text or image |id-c = id background color |id-fc = id font color |id-s = id text size |id-p = id cell padding space |id-lh = id line height |id-op = id other parameter (CSS) |id-w = id box width |id-h = id box height |info = info text |info-c = info background color |info-fc = info font color |info-s = info text size |info-p = info padding (distance between cell contents & cell border) |info-lh = info line height (or distance in between text lines) |info-op = info other (CSS) parameter(s) |border-c = box color |border-s = border width in pixels }}
You can use this to design your own userboxes. Work around with it some and see what you can do. If you really don't know, you can ask again. jj137 (Talk) 03:59, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- and this
KC This user is a fan of the
Kansas City Chiefs. This user is a Baltimore Ravens fan.
I'm a KC fan and want a logo on there instead of KC. How? --HPJoker (talk) 04:02, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
This user is a Kansas City Chiefs fan. |
How does that look? I just substituted the template and changed the '''KC''' to [[Image:Example.jpg|45px]]. jj137 (Talk) 19:43, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- THIS IS HORRIBLy good. I love it. Thank you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much! --HPJoker (talk) 19:53, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- No problem... and I like the phrase "horribly good". jj137 (Talk) 19:54, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- So, do I just copy and paste that thing that starts with font color="navy", onto my page? --HPJoker (talk) 19:56, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
Before I say anything else, I placed the "new" userbox at User:HPJoker/Chiefs UBX so that you don't have to have all the coding. From the looks of your userpage, you could have it set up like this (at the top of your userpage):
{{User:StatusBot/Template}} {{userboxtop|HPJoker}} {{userboxbreak|toptext=}} {{/Chiefs UBX}} {{userboxbottom}}
Where you see "{{/Chiefs UBX}}", that is where your userbox will be located. The reason there is nothing before the slash is because it is simply in a subpage. You can also place other userboxes above or below that one.
Hope this helps. jj137 (Talk) 20:04, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- It does help a lot. Now I would like to do one more thing. Organize my user boxes. I'd like to keep the Wiki Sox thing and the status bot where it is, but have the chiefs thing arranged on the side. --HPJoker (talk) 20:55, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
Just add that coding I gave you above (the one with 5 templates) and it should stay how you like it. jj137 (Talk) 21:02, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
Leighton Holdings
Is there any reason why you have requested speedy deletion for Leighton Holdings. It seems to be the only major construction company in the world that does not have a wiki-article. Dormskirk (talk) 23:09, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- If you read the CSD box, you will see: It is an article about a company or corporation that does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject. That is the reason I gave it. Simply, it does not assert the significance it has to get its own article. It does not matter whether it is the only major construction company in the world that doesn't have an article or not. jj137 (Talk) 23:13, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- Ok. If I say it is notable because it is Australia's largest contractor (which is true) would that meet your point? Dormskirk (talk) 23:17, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- Sounds good to me. If I were you, I would go ahead and cite that on the article so it doesn't get deleted. jj137 (Talk) 23:19, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. I have now stated this in the first line. Please could you now remove the request for speedy deletion? Dormskirk (talk) 23:24, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

Speedy deletions
Hey there.
Thanks for patrolling, but be careful: plants do not qualify for importance speedy deletion (criterion A7), only a very specific list of topics do: living (real) persons, groups, clubs, bands and organizations (including companies). — Coren (talk) 23:14, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- OK. What if they are not covered by any of the CSD A7 types, but they are not notable enough? jj137 (Talk) 23:15, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- Unless it's so short and empty that it qualifies for A1 or A3, then a {{prod}} might do the trick; or an AfD if that fails. — Coren (talk) 23:53, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
- Aaahh, OK, I guess that would make sense. Thanks jj137 (Talk) 00:01, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

MLB 07 The Show
I'm trying to get a Bugs and Flaws section back on there, but this man Socby19 wants it removed because its considered vandalism and is threating to contact an admin and take away their editing rights if it is moved backup. I think this should be on there because the page just looks bleak without it, and because of information purposes. PLUS, PLEASE DON'T POST THIS ON MY USER PAGE. THIS GUY IS PROBABLY WATCHING MY USER PAGE.
Since you're a person of authority (I think), I'm wondering if you can help. It ain't a number 1 priority through. Thanx. --HPJoker (talk) 01:27, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not a sysop (but possibly planning an RfA soon :); please don't worry if this guy is bugging you. He apparently isn't aware of the rules; you couldn't be blocked from editing from him contacting an admin and adding bugs. That is absurd. Yes, Wikipedia isn't a guide, but the bugs could be listed with a trivia header. Actually, this guy probably has a better chance of being blocked than you. I'll keep on eye on this; if you want, you can report this here. jj137 (Talk) 18:37, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- So I can go ahead and put the Bugs and Flaws section back with the title Trivia instead of Bugs and Flaws? --HPJoker (talk) 18:48, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- I think you can keep the header "Bugs and Flaws", but put {{trivia|date=November 2007}} just under it. jj137 (Talk) 18:49, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

- This is what he says. http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Talk:MLB_07:_The_Show#Glitches_Section --HPJoker (talk) 18:52, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- I was just looking at that. As long as you have the trivia box right under the header, I don't think it matters whether or not you have sources (although I imagine it would help). jj137 (Talk) 18:54, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Hey I'm New At This
Hey im Ltwin and I created the article Magnolia, Bennettsville, SC. I'm not really that sure if i did it right but i did cite the website where I got the info from. If you could check to see if how i cited it was correct that would be great.thanks.Ltwin (talk) 03:16, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- The article looks fine now. jj137 (Talk) 18:40, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Hi
Saw your username (which made me smile) and just thought I'd say "hi" : ) - jc37 (talk) 06:42, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- Wow- that's really cool! I never have seen anyone with such a similar username. jj137 (Talk) 18:42, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- : )
- As an aside, we should keep an eye out to make sure that we are not being confused by other editors. (Accidents of mistaken identity can happen...) - Which is partially why such close usernames are usually disallowed per Wikipedia:Username policy. I think we both should take some time and read over that page and see how it may apply to us.
- Also, for fun, you may want to check out 137 (number), and Leet : ) - jc37 (talk) 19:17, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- Yep, and strangely enough, neither of those had any thing to do with where I came up with my username (actually, I'm really not that sure where it came from, but I know it wasn't from there.) jj137 (Talk) 19:23, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- I'll place something on my userpage saying I'm not the same as you. jj137 (Talk) 19:24, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Re: MLB 07
No, I didn't. It was originally on there until Socby19 thought it was vandalism. And thanks for editing it. Guess I was wrong. --HPJoker (talk) 19:32, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- Don't worry, nobody's perfect. All articles have flaws; that's why they have Featured Articles, those are just the articles with the least mistakes (well I assume so). jj137 (Talk) 19:39, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- Speaking of featured articles, hows that Ted Williams thing going? --HPJoker (talk) 19:41, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
@HPjoker because he refuses to respond by just deleting my edits. I wouldn't have touched it if you hadn't notified me of it. I still would like an answer of why you did so. Since it's being kept there with advisement from jj137, you shouldn't have said anything. @jj137: Do you really think that errors on stats and colors really need to be listed. They have no effect on gameplay and make up majority of the list. What can be considered a 'typo' isn't really a bug, nor a flaw. Socby19 (talk) 19:49, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I agree; also, I had HPJoker place the trivia tag there so that eventually maybe the bugs and glitches could be integrated into the article body. jj137 (Talk) 20:13, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Very speedy deletions
Hi jj, I've noticed that you have been putting speedy deletion tags on articles within a few minutes of their creation. Please note the advice at WP:NPP#Patrolling new pages:
- Special:Newpages logs new pages as they are created. It is advisable to patrol new pages from the bottom of the first page of the log. This should give the creating editor enough time to improve a new page before a patroller attends to it, particularly if the patroller tags the page for speedy deletion. Tagging anything other than attack pages or complete nonsense a minute after creation is not constructive and only serves to annoy the page author.
Phil Bridger (talk) 20:00, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- I see your point. However; most of those pages are created by users who just signed up. If I know that notability has really no chance of being established, I will mark it for speedy. Anything else, I'll leave. Thanks jj137 (Talk) 20:10, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
Socby19 has.......
Accused me of Sock puppetry. What do I do? --HPJoker (talk) 21:05, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- From what I know, you can't be accused of sockpuppetry from forgetting to log in. I'll comment at the case. jj137 (Talk) 23:13, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- He's accusing me of spamming and vandalising with that IP. I live in a hotel, so who knows who it could've been. --HPJoker (talk) 23:16, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- It seems the IP has vandalized a few times. Do you remember ever doing this edit? jj137 (Talk) 23:23, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

- Two words. Hell. No. --HPJoker (talk) 23:26, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, he did forget to log in, but he did commit vandalism what would be considered "Modifying users' comments" under the IP (not only mine but HPJoker's as well). The IP also recently corrected what would appear as correcting somebody else's comments on my talk page. Now, it does seem fairly obvious, but why is it that the IP removes or fixes comments that were made by or intended for HPJoker on numerous occasions? Others 1, 2, and [1]. Socby19 (talk) 23:36, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- Some of those edits are definitely him; others are not. Some of those he seems to be reverting himself, which I don't see anything wrong there. A couple times he may have done something wrong, but not enough to get him banned. jj137 (Talk) 23:39, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- Just to let you know, I live in a town with a bunch of college students. --HPJoker (talk) 23:45, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- We've established that the most recent ones are him, so could he be accused of vandalism as Modifying users' comments? Also the Bonds edits (circumstantial coming up) may be him, as the same day, a World Series comment shows up, while his userpage says he is a Red Sox fan. Then the later Gary Sheffield edits make a reference to Bonds? Huh? Socby19 (talk) 23:51, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- I'll see. This whole thing is really confusing. jj137 (Talk) 00:21, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- Well, at this point I'm pretty confused. Do you even remember specifically which edits were yours and which were not? Also, if possible, I would check the little box that says "Remember me on this computer". I'm not sure whether you're able to do that or not, but it would keep you away from using that IP address. jj137 (Talk) 00:25, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- He may be purposefully using he IP as he must have logged out to make subsequent edits to the same page. Socby19 (talk) 00:43, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- Possibly, or he keeps logging out from wikipedia to do something away from his computer, and then logs back in (or forgets) a few minutes later. Maybe he doesn't have the "Remember me on this computer" box checked. jj137 (Talk) 00:56, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

- I do, but it remembers my password and username. If I haven't used Wiki in a couple of days it automatically logs me out, and I have to log back in. Now Monday Night Football is on. --HPJoker (talk) 01:36, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
- Yep, it does that to me too. You're right, let's come back to this later. MNF is on. jj137 (Talk) 01:38, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion
I don't see why my addition was deleted. All I put was a link to a website with those topics. It wasn't inappropriate or unrelated. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Quanyails (talk • contribs) 01:09, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

- My apologies there. I thought you were saying some food went horribly wrong, and it is actually the title of it. I reverted my removal; in other words, it definitely should stay. Again, sorry. jj137 (Talk) 01:23, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

- Thanks. It doesn't matter how experienced a user is, every user will make mistakes from time to time. (Also, when signing your posts, all you have to put is ~~~~; you don't have to write your username after it :) jj137 (Talk) 01:31, 20 November 2007 (UTC)
