BTINH

Have started reviewing. There are some points to be getting on with. Calvin Watch n' Learn 18:49, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

Don't panic!

Don't panic about the recent oppose by User:Two Hearted River, that can be easily dealt with if you just stay cool. Malleus Fatuorum 00:02, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

Remember you told me to add that information about the non-consecutive run at number one? Now please help me defend that. He already opposed in the past and now he is back Jivesh1205 (Talk) 05:19, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

Single Ladies

I will try all I can to get the article to FA. While I do that, please try to address the problems promptly so as to give it the best chance. After you've addressed the issues, I will ping the opposers and ask them to have a look over the article again. We can do this --Sp33dyphil ©© 09:56, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

IRC invitation

Hi Jivesh boodhun! I'm not sure if you're aware of it, but I'd just like to inform you that there is an online webchat room where you can socialise and find help with experienced editors and myself. The room is at #wikipedia-en; a few people hang around there, so if you're interested, please come along. For more information, please see WP:IRC.

If you don't want to reveal your IP address on, you have to create a cloak. --Sp33dyphil ©© 10:30, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

Single Ladies FAC

Left some comments although you must have seen them. The article is well-shaped, far better than that S*M nomination and this really has a chance at passing. Hang on Jivesh and I will check again later. You are free to ask any questions on my talk page, ya know that Jalebi :) — Legolas (talk2me) 10:51, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

And you think you are a changed person? A leopard never changes its spots. Calvin Watch n' Learn 10:54, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
No offense Calvin, nobody asked you to comment here right? What I personally think about an article is still my personal view, and it does not come in between what I feel about the nominator. If you would like to carry on with this, be my guest, that's all I care. — Legolas (talk2me) 10:59, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
Lol. If only you knew. Calvin Watch n' Learn 11:00, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

Is on hold. Calvin Watch n' Learn 02:33, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

I will go through it in about 4/5 hours. Calvin Watch n' Learn 10:32, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
Okay. Calvin, i won't be here tomorrow. I will be at my cousin's place and i won't be able to use internet there. His parents are very tough. Lol. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 10:35, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
Ok. Calvin Watch n' Learn 10:38, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

I have put resolves on the sections you have done. Ones without have replies. Calvin Watch n' Learn 17:12, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

Passed. Calvin Watch n' Learn 20:10, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
Thanks. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 20:11, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
I assume you won't be wanting me to review Run the World. Lol. Calvin Watch n' Learn 20:15, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
I don't have the right to refuse. Lol. You can but please give me some time. SL is currently at FAC. I have to be attentive. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 20:18, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
You do have the right to refuse lol. But I think after the review for BTINH, me reviewing RTW would not be good for us. Calvin Watch n' Learn 20:21, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
Yes. I don't want any drama. Lol. I am going to bed. It is 00 30 here. I need to go to bed. Take care. I will not be here tomorrow. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 20:22, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
Lol. Okay. Can you try and finish Te Amo soon please. Bye. Calvin Watch n' Learn 20:24, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
Monday. The review will be very long. The prose is not good. You have a whole day. Read the remaining sections. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 20:26, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

Loud

I know you aren't really into rihanna albums, but i feel others users are not erm, in the mood to talk. if you catch my drift. http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Loud_%28Rihanna_album%29#Singles_2 see the place where it shows the singles? like in the discography? not all riri articles have it. i feel it should be either taken away or one should be added to all rihanna album articles. Your opinion? BenTalkThatTalk2me 15:58, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

In time Ben, in time. There is no deadline. (Oooh that rhymes!) Calvin Watch n' Learn 17:11, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
Huh? I'm talking about adding it to other articles, or taking it away. I'm not rushing anything. What do you think? BenTalkThatTalk2me 18:40, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
Yes it should be added to other articles. Album articles take a long time to edit and improve. Calvin Watch n' Learn 18:42, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
Okay, just making sure I wasn't the only one who noticed. lol. BenTalkThatTalk2me 18:45, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
Loud is the only Rihanna album with has been improved for GAN. I started working on Music of the Sun a while back, but it's hard with that one as not much info is about. Calvin Watch n' Learn 18:49, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
yes. Although i am a fan, i don't care for her first two albums. to reggae for me. so I'm not editing them. BenTalkThatTalk2me 18:55, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
I like the subtle dancehall vibes. Calvin Watch n' Learn 18:56, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
One song I always liked for some reason is CRazy Little thing called love. and i love the singles unfaithful, sos, and pon de replay. BenTalkThatTalk2me 18:59, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm much more of a fan of her last three albums. Calvin Watch n' Learn 19:08, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
I like GGGB, but haunted and cry are the best songs. they are on itunes. but i don't like the idea of bonus tracks. they are so damn hard to get. BenTalkThatTalk2me 19:13, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

Take a Bow and Disturbia? I love those songs. Calvin Watch n' Learn 19:14, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

Disturbia is awesome! and i wish breakin dishes was released. it would've been a hit.BenTalkThatTalk2me 19:19, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
I don't like Breakin Dishes. She sang it on the Loud Tour when I saw her. Calvin Watch n' Learn 19:21, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
Hm. so, next TTT single. what do u think? i think the title track would be a good choice.BenTalkThatTalk2me 19:25, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
Actually i must go. i have a huge headache, and i'm sick. i need to ly down. BenTalkThatTalk2me 19:37, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
Is it? I'm not surprised if it is, it's obvious the Jay track would be a single, their previous songs speak for themselves. Ahh okay hope you are alright. Calvin Watch n' Learn 19:44, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

Second opinion

Hi Jivesh, are you online? Could I ask you for a second opinion of something? —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 20:08, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

Yes. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 20:08, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
Nominator has addressed most of my concerns, but do you think this article is too short to be passed? I am concerned about this. Legolas is offline, so I am asking you. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 20:10, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
No. Simply because it is a promotional single. I am sure there is nothing more that can be added. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 20:13, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
I meant you can pass it. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 20:13, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

Party

Has had a Grammy nod. Calvin Watch n' Learn 23:41, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

Beyonce was snubbed. You spend much time on Twitter, right? Did you notice all the roaring that was going on there? Jivesh1205 (Talk) 04:33, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
What do you mean? And no I haven't seen anything. Calvin Watch n' Learn 12:39, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
I mean the backfire at Beyonce earning only 2 Grammy nominations has already started on Twitter, Facebook and even MTV. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 20:03, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
I'm not surprised to be honest. And she only has one Grammy nom. Calvin Watch n' Learn 20:09, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
Why aren't you surprised? Because 4 under-performed? Sh has 2. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 20:12, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
I know she released in time for the nominations deadline, but compared to other artists since last November, she hasn't experienced what some of them have. And Party is the only nomination in that link i sent you. Calvin Watch n' Learn 20:17, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
She has two. She also gathered a nomination for Best Long Form Music Video for I... Am World Tour. — Tomica1111Question Existing? 20:21, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
Bad timing indeed. IA...SF was released late 2008 and it had a whole 15 months of exposure. (Her dad was managing her). Lol. I Am... World Tour is also nominated for Best Long Form Music Video. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 20:25, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

Watch the Throne

An editor insists on removing "Lift Off" as a single from Watch the Throne, using this explanation. Would you like to comment there? He continued reverting and removing, before I asked for page protection, and now there is a full protection pending a consensus. Dan56 (talk) 21:58, 4 December 2011 (UTC)

"Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)"

A prose issues I came across:

  • "Knowles said that she wanted a simple video, which was shot without different camera shots and cuts, without alterations to hairstyles, costumes, sets or lighting." Can this be reworded to remove one of the "without"s?

WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 20:46, 4 December 2011 (UTC)

Please check. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 04:33, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi, Jivesh and Penguin, that's rather a confusing sentence.I suggest the following: "Knowles said that she wanted a simple video; it was therefore filmed without alternative camera shots and cuts, or changes to hairstyles, costumes, sets and lighting." I hope my interpretation is correct, feel free to ignore me otherwise, guys. :-) Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 07:32, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

We will never ignore your comments simply because you are one of the best. Someone already fixed that sentence but please check it if possible. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 07:34, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
Thank you *blushes* :-) The new version looks less confusing. Cheers, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 07:46, 5 December 2011 (UTC)
You are welcome. So, i will change it to yours. Are you good at paraphrasing? Jivesh1205 (Talk) 07:52, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

RDY and IC

I think I've already told you that I don't have facebook. And I will work on the articles in your sandboxes (if you let me do that). My love is love (talk) 19:18, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

I don't have the album although I downloaded all of the songs separately. But I'm sure that you can find the credits for "I Care" and "I Miss You" on Beyonce's website. And I don't know about "Dance for You" but I'm pretty sure that you can find the credits online (probably on Discogs). My love is love (talk) 11:31, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
Really??? A nice decision although I don't think it will be very big in the US without a very, very, very good performance. And about the other charts I'm pretty sure it will rule the charts in UK. And where did you read this? My love is love (talk) 11:38, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
Thanks. I've just read it. My love is love (talk) 18:56, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

Love on Top: a "classic disco" song

Would you please stop pushing improperly sourced words into articles?

- First of all, you don't own anything around here. Therefore comment like this is highly inappropriate even by Wikipedia standards.
- The source ("As soon as we heard this track, it screamed 'classic disco'") claiming "classic disco" influences is written in tongue-in-cheek figure of speech and therefore unreliable. You simply need to find better sources.

Hope everything is clear now. Regards, ItsAlwaysLupus (talk) 19:40, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

Quotation overusage issue

Jivesh, I really do not think you have to remove all quotations in that particular section of your FAC. In fact, quotes are great for adding that extra touch to show things that are worded extremely well by the journalists. Using excerpts of a few words is perfectly fine and makes the article all the more interesting and "spicy". Did Mark ask to remove all usage of quotation in the section? —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 19:28, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

Yes, he asked for the quotes in that section to be paraphrased. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 19:30, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
He stated something like the quotation is factual, and i think all quotations there are factual. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 19:32, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
Lol. i think this is the last time i am nominating an article there. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 19:32, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

Love On Top

Im not saying it's never gonna be released as a single there, but the december 4 date was just rumored, you yourself said that in Love On Top's talk page, you said something like this "Love On Top is now rumored to be released in the Uk"........anyway, that december 4 date is false, it's not in Digital Spy, not in Amazon UK, and not in iTunes UK........for now, Love On top was sent for airplay only in some countries like the australia, italy, and the uk....but it has yet to receive a separate digital and physical release..... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.118.208.87 (talk) 02:44, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

Single Ladies

Maybe you will laugh, but I thought that only "experienced" reviewers which are more than a year on Wikipedia can comment on the FACs. But if that isn't the case I will comment. My love is love (talk) 10:16, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

I was working on "Telephone" but I'll work on "Rather Die Young". The last article. (Probably, if she doesn't release another video for "Dreaming", "Lay Up Under Me" or "Schoolin' Life". lol.) You're doing such a great job with all of this articles. B should be proud to have you on Wikipedia. And do you know is there any other video coming soon? I want to see the videos for "I Was Here" and "I Miss You". My love is love (talk) 10:23, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
Probably the thing that's happening right now. Lol. And do you listen to Jay-Z? I can't listen to any of his song. "Diva" and "Run the World" are probably the only hip hop songs that I listen to. I also like "Crazy in Love" but I can't listen to his hip hop part. It's not good for me. Also, at the beginning of "Deja Vu" the "aaaaaaahhhh" sounds he makes are very annoying. What do you think? Hi. In Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It), you recently added a link to the disambiguation page Acoustic (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. For more information, see the FAQ or drop a line at the DPL WikiProject.

Prose question

What does "a topic that attracted Knowles to 'Single Ladies'" mean? How can Knowles be attracted to the song? Do you mean attracted to writing it? By the way, congrats on another support; it's not easy getting one from someone who has written 36 featured articles. ;) The article is really close to getting my support as well. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 10:45, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

That's all i am waiting for. It seems it is easier to get the support of someone who is used to write FAs. Lol. Penguin, i do not understand what you mean by that. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 12:58, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
Is that what you want? Please check. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 13:18, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
And by "attracted" you mean "inspired"? —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 15:28, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

Re "Query"

I have taken a brief look at Halo and have the following comments:

In general, see WP:QUOTEFARM

Composition

  • Providing the sources says it, remove "according to the music sheet published at Musicnotes.com," as it is redundant
  • This "As noted by Darryl Sterdan of the Canadian website Jam! and Joey Guerra of Houston Chronicle, 'Halo' is essentially built on a stomp-clap beat, and it consists of '[a] flood of symphonic swells and electronic accents with open-hearted emotion'" does not make sense. Who is quoting what? In an encyclopaedia, it is generally better to state facts and leave attribution to the references. Thus: " 'Halo' is essentially built on a stomp-clap beat, and it consists of '[a] flood of symphonic swells and electronic accents with open-hearted emotion'.<reference Darryl Sterdan of the Canadian website Jam! [erm, or is it?] Joey Guerra of Houston Chronicle>". If the reader really wants to know who said your quotation, they can go to the references. This is a general comment throughout the whole article
  • In " Knowles described the theme of the song as follows:" as follows is redundant

Controversies

  • In "He commented about:" it is not perfectly clear who commented and "about" is redundant. I would re-word: "Tedder commented"
  • Consistency. "In response to Clarkson's dissatisfaction ..." why use BLOCKQUOTES for previous quotes and not the Tedder one following Clarkson's dissatisfaction? I know why Halo is 'Halo' in the middle of this Tedder quote but it looks odd compared to the "Halo" form you use nearly everywhere else. BLOCKQUOTE would fix that

Critical reception and awards

  • Use {{" '}} at the beginning of "'Halo', an absolutely glorious and perfectly ..." making "'Halo', an absolutely glorious and perfectly ...". This puts a tiny space between the two marks " and ' otherwise they get lost. Don't use " ' as this form can break across lines. You can use the opposite, {{' "}}, at the other end if needed. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style#Quotation marksQuotations within quotations for a fuller treatment

Music video

  • "but [he]didn’t want to do that." space after [he]
  • ... 'Call me when you have a hero role.'" needs a {{' "}} giving ... 'Call me when you have a hero role.'". Actually, as you seem to be (over?) using quotations there are a lot of these issues throughout. I have not checked for them all

Live performances

  • You discuss "the song" and "the track" within the same paragraph. This is confusing
  • "June 26, 2011 ." space before period

My personal opinion is that names of people and quotations seem to me to be excessively used in this otherwise well written article.

I am not a qualified copy-editor. I am just trying to help. Use my comments in conjunction with others. I hope the above is helpful to you

--Senra (Talk) 11:31, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

On another point. Consider whether the following is necessary in your main article:

  • "the song is composed using common time in the key of A major with a moderate tempo of 84 beats per minute and has a sequence of A–Bm–F♯m–D as its chord progression. It is written in the common verse-chorus form and features backing vocals.[16] Knowles' vocal range goes from C♯3 to F♯5.[17]"

There are thousands of musicians in the world[citation needed] and millions of fans[citation needed]. Who are you writing for? The technical musician or the fan? I guess the answer is both but there are more fans. If the musician really wishes to know the technical detail, show it in a footnote. You may of course disagree. Fair enough.

If you agree, see St James' Church, Stretham#Bells[nb 13] where I relegate the technical details to a footnote. Both WP:REFNEST and WP:REFGROUP contain instructions on how to use this technique. Basically, in the body of the article use {{#tag:ref|footnote with two references: <ref>reference 1</ref><ref>reference 2</ref>|group=XXX}} and in the references section put {{reflist|group=XXX}} above the reflist that is already there. I call my group one ;Footnotes and the normal one ;Notes both underneath a level two heading References. XXX can be from a pre-defined list (I use "lower-roman" in the work-in-progress Ely, Cambridgeshire article) or a name made up by you (I use "nb" in the church article). The same technique can be used to put asides out of the way to help maintain the smooth flow of the prose. Consider footnote xii in Ely, Cambridgeshire as an example of this. Your hero Malleus uses this method too --Senra (Talk) 13:41, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

By the way. You only need the complicated {{#tag:ref|your footnote here<ref>reference 1</ref>|group=XXX}} form if you are including one or more references in your footnote. For a footnote without references use the easier <ref group=XXX>your footnote here</ref> construction. See Little Thetford#Demography[nb 7] for an example --Senra (Talk) 14:39, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

Need some help

I'm trying to find a reliable source for LeAnn Rimes' From My Heart to Yours released in 1992 but all I can find is fan sites mentioning it. I have yet to find anything else to find it. Can you help me please! I need it for her discography. Swifty*talkcontribs 16:55, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

Thank you! Swifty*talkcontribs 08:11, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

I just don't understand how all these fans know about Everybody's Sweetheart and From My Heart to Yours but All That is the only one Amazon.com has on it. I've been re-collecting my LeAnn Rimes albums and I for the first time on CD have All That but I can't find anywhere to buy the other two I wonder why? Swifty*talkcontribs 08:24, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

WP:LQ

Yes. I've read it. Why? Did I make a mistake somewhere? My love is love (talk) 13:34, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

Sure. I understood it like this: If there is a punctuation mark in the way the author wrote it, then I also add it. Ex. "'Halo' is an angelic song." But if he wrote "'Halo' is an angelic song produced by blah, blah, blah." and if I just want to add the "'Halo' is an angelic song" I don't put a punctuation mark because the author also didn't. But if I add the whole part "'Halo' is an angelic song produced by blah, blah, blah." I add the punctuation mark at the end. Is it like that?
OK. Thanks. My love is love (talk) 13:48, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
Yes. My love is love (talk) 14:22, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
Nope. But I'll add it soon if you don't want to do that. And about the thing with the review of Live at Roseland at The Wrap, which link should I use? The one at The Wrap or the one at Reuters? It was originally posted to The Wrap after all. My love is love (talk) 14:28, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
Sure, why not. But you've almost written the entire article and I've made just some minor edits. How can I co-nominate it with you if I make just those minor edits? I thought that for nominating an article you must to write all of it by yourself. My love is love (talk) 14:39, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

Hey Jivesh what about the thing I posted on 4's talk page? Is that the real review. And should it be added in the article like the one that was added on "I Was Here" (without link)? My love is love (talk) 15:23, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

Yes, but the cite journal template can be used. Ex {{cite journal|title=Beyoncé '4' Album Review|work=[[Q (magazine)|Q]]|publisher=[[Bauer Media Group]]|first=Simon|last=Goddard|date=September, 2011|page=105}} And one more thing; don't you think that "Video Phone" should have a similar format like "Party"? The first part talking about Beyonce's solo single version and the second about the one with Gaga along with the video etc. My love is love (talk) 18:31, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
And is the ISSN thing needed in the first ref? My love is love (talk) 18:41, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

I don't like it. The solo version is 1000 times better. Is "I Miss You" your favorite song from 4? And about the reference that I added to the "Halo" article, should it be added to all other songs she performed that night? ("RTW", "BTINH" ...) My love is love (talk) 11:20, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
Probably you have told me. My love is love (talk) 11:25, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
Yep. Lol. And my second is "I Was Here". I like it because it has those dark and sad lyrics and elements like in Evanescence's songs. Your second favorite song? My love is love (talk) 11:30, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
"I Was Here" number 12? "Start Over" is also a good song but I can't listen to those annoying sounds in the background. And I'm disappointed that "Best Thing I Never Had" wasn't placed on any of the "Best of 2011" lists. I also don't like "Lay Up Under Me" and "Rather Die Young" so much. My love is love (talk) 11:40, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
Do you know which other songs Beyonce performed during A Night With Beyonce except the ones that I added? Did she perform "Love on Top"? Re: Love on Top

It was sent to radio. It's a UK single. A CD single release will most likely be coming in the year, based off of other UK releases. "Party" is what should not be listed as a single. Status {talkcontribs 11:33, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

I don't know... I'm not familiar with how charts works. It was also sent to radio in Australia and Italy (which are really irrelevant anyway, but it does it's still being added). Take Right There for example (ignoring all non-UK releases). It was sent to radio at least a month before being officially released in the UK. I say we just wait it out for now. If nothing becomes of it, then it can be changed back to song, and there's a further line of messes added to the 4 era. Status {talkcontribs 11:41, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
It could be flopping? It's not like she's promoting it. ;) I wouldn't have a problem with it being changed to a song for the time being. I also went and changed "Party" to a promo single. And I must say, I am usually extremely pissed off when editors try to make articles of every song on an album, but the one's on 4 are very good. You were extremely lucky they all (seemed) to have charted. Nice work! Status {talkcontribs 11:46, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
I suggest you make a template for the album, as the non-singles really seem to be taking over the singles template. Something like this would be good, with the inclusion of the revue, of course. And I must say, there is most definitely going to be a tour. They said the era would last two years, and when adding everything up right; they must have known she was pregnant then. I see a re-release after a few months of having the baby, and a tour being launched. B'Day type of re-release. :D Status {talkcontribs 11:50, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
I cannot. She works like nobody else's business! I don't know if it is one or not; we'll see. And as I said, it will probably be relaunched next year after she gives birth to royalty their daughter. I see her taking only a couple of months off. I mean, she worked like an insane person during the early days of promo. Status {talkcontribs 12:09, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
Also, the template it's easier and nicer to view. Having songs in a singles template is odd. If there's enough to warrant its own template, it should be done. :P Status {talkcontribs 12:10, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, honestly, I'm not checking for the Grammys anymore. They snubbed WAY too many people this year... and don't get me started on that album of year nominations... (one specifically.) I know Love? wasn't very successful, but not even "On the Floor" got nominated for a Grammy? I mean, that right there. That is like THE SONG of 2011 (in my opinion). Adele's gonna take everything anyway. :L Status {talkcontribs 12:17, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
Personally, I Am... is her best work. It shows both sides of her. I love the ballad side and the uptempo side. There are literally no fillers on the album. 4 is just meh to me, but I've never really liked hardcore R&B, so that's not surprising. Status {talkcontribs 12:19, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
The album is a pretty loud one. Anyways, I got to get to school. Still two more days before the holidays... Talk later! Status {talkcontribs 12:28, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Reducing music quality

Hi Jivesh, how are you? I'm flattered that you ask me that question. Yes, I think I do know. Do you use Audacity for creating sound files? After you finish editing the file down to the length you want, you Export it with the format as Ogg Vorbis Files. Beside the Format drop down list, there is an Options button. Click that and you can reduce the quality down to zero, which I believe I read somewhere is the setting we're supposed to use. Anyway, the procedure above is how it works on my version of Audacity—I can't be sure if there may be other versions circulating with different methods. I hope this is a help. Oh, I just noticed there are also instructions here, which seem similar to what I wrote but I'm not sure if they're exactly the same: Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Music samples#Guidelines. Anyway, you could try both explanations. It looks like your FAC is going well—fingers crossed for you! Moisejp (talk) 07:02, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

I'll see what I can do! Hang on, I'm just trying right now. Moisejp (talk) 07:11, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
I know! I can't promise I can do this. I'm trying again, though. :-) Moisejp (talk) 07:18, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
I've reverted it to the old one, but I'm going to try again to get it smaller. Moisejp (talk) 07:20, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
I'm still working on it right now. But if as you say the sound quality has gone down too much we can always revert it to the original and see what reviewers say. But anyway, give me a few more minutes and I'll see if I can get it down to 64 kbps or not. I don't know how to check the number before uploading it, so it's kind of trial and error. Moisejp (talk) 07:48, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
So sorry, Jivesh. Mission unsuccessful. I reverted the sound file to the original one Dawnseeker did. I noticed you put a message on Dawnseeker's Talk page. I imagine Dawnseeker is more skilled than I am with Audacity because even when I trim half a second off the sound clip it still ends up the same file size as Dawnseeker's original. Maybe Dawnseeker can help you when he or she gets back online. Moisejp (talk) 08:07, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi Jivesh. I hope you don't mind the briefness of this message; I've got my last major exam tomorrow and can't spare too much time online at the moment. I responded to a few of your queries to Efe on the "Single Ladies" FAC, and noticed that as the days have gone on your replies to him have become a bit more terse. Basically I just wanted to leave you this message to ask you to try and reply a bit more calmly. I know that this is the third FAC, so you're undoubtedly feeling frustrated after all the time you have put into writing and maintaining the article, but it is a very good article and you've had lots of supports to indicate that.

As you've said, it can be difficult when one person recommends doing A and another suggests trying B; sometimes it is literally impossible to find a compromise between the two (particular when C chips in with an additional viewpoint). Everybody has their own idea of what the article should look like, and will try to push their point of view to get it as close to that vision as possible. One person's lack of available information is another person's comprehensiveness. Don't let it get you down. One of my hardest struggles was when I brought "City of Blinding Lights" to FAC. One suggestion was made that I was really very reluctant to integrate; but when I eventually caved and changed it per the recommendation I realized that it really did improve it, not make it worse like I had feared.

So keep your chin up, mate. At the end of the day we are all unpaid volunteers doing this just because we love it. It's easy to get frustrated with what seem to be unreasonable demands, but if you take the time to really break it down you may see that it does actually improve. I've had way more failed FAC's than successful ones; twice I've had articles get passed on the third attempt. But each and every time I've heard more viewpoints and improved; both in writing the article, in editing it, and in replying to and addressing other user's concerns/suggestions. You can't please everyone; but keep in mind that there is no such thing as a perfect article. No matter what we do, there is always something to be tweaked that could make it that little bit better. So keep a calm head and keep on editing; and remember that calm words now will make it easier in the future for both of you. Cheers, Melicans (talk, contributions) 21:15, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

No, of course you're not expected to write multiple versions. And that is something the delegates will take into account when reviewing the FAC to see if it is promoted or archived. Ignoring suggestions or bickering about them will never win any favours (I know that from experience...), but explaining rationally why you think it would not be of benefit/wouldn't make the article better will. At the end of the day nobody is trying to sabotage the FAC process for you (if they are it is usually pretty noticeable and not even taken into consideration by the delegates); it may be their opinion, but that's ultimately all it is: an opinion. And they're offering it to you because they think it will make a difference that will help the article pass.
Under no circumstance are you expected to change it according to every single opinion you get. As you've found out, people often offer contradictory ideas. The important thing to remember is that FAC is not a vote, and the delegates will never treat it as such. It's just an assessment to see if the article makes the FA criteria, and so ultimately the quality of the arguments is what makes the difference and determines whether an article is promoted or not. Keeping a cool head goes a long way, even if you find yourself having to explain the same things over and over. Sometimes it is difficult to read the full FAC (I often find myself skipping large tracts), especially when it is really lengthy like with the "Single Ladies" FAC. In the end the final decision is yours, and as long as you address the points that are raised - whether you agree to them or not - you've done your job. Usually a simple "That concern was also raised by X, and I feel it wouldn't be an improvement because of Y" works wonders. The delegates are very thorough; they will see if there is conflicting advice. You just have to go with what feels best. You can even try it out and then revert if you don't like it, just to see what it looks like.
Cool heads wins collaborators. Hot heads start heated rivalries. So keep your chin up and remember; some of the comments you get will seem like criticism but it is not directed at you and shouldn't be taken personally. It may feel like it when it is an article you've dedicated a lot of time on, but every little niggle or error or suggestion that gets pointed out to you is only an idea on something that could maybe be tweaked to make it that little bit better. Ultimately, they are only trying to help you out. You've done a really great job with the article, so don't get discouraged! Melicans (talk, contributions) 06:15, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
I just don't like to see anyone get discouraged, especially after putting in so much hard work. FAC's aren't easy to write by any means; but when you get that star it feels like you've really accomplished something and that it was all worthwhile. In an encyclopedia with millions of articles and thousands of editors, it's a great feeling to know that you have written something that is considered to be one of its best articles! Never take any criticism or commentary personally, mate. In the long run it is much easier to work with each other than fight over fairly trivial details. I freely admit that sometimes it is hard (I've had more than my fair share of scraps), but I've always found that being polite and treating others with respect makes it easier to work with others and compromise on tricky situations; even if they are coming at you full force with both barrels blazing. People are funny, fickle creatures; even the smallest slight can make them hostile towards you, now and into the future, and they'll be harder to please and work with. But praise and politeness (mixed with an occassional dash of "You were right") makes them more willing to concede to you as well. As the saying goes, you sometimes have to give a little to get a little. Believe me, it works wonders! ;-) Melicans (talk, contributions) 06:33, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
Heheh, I've written loads. I was either the lead (sometimes sole) writer or one of the major collaborators on all of the articles in that chart (except those marked "Not done"). Some of them ("Slug") didn't exist until I wrote them. Others were redirects (or very close to becoming one) before I stepped in and decided to try and improve them. I'm really proud of "Mothers of the Disappeared"; it used to have an article but was redirected as a non-notable song. I took it from that redirect to an FA almost single-handedly (just more proof to me that every article has the potential to be an FA one day). Another article ("One Tree Hill") is at FAC as we speak. What can I say? U2 is to me what Beyonce is to you! Melicans (talk, contributions) 06:54, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
That's actually really good stuff that could very easily be integrated into the article. The SNL parody culd easily stand as it's own paragraph with that stuff! You could do a structure that is something like this: Current existing sentence(s). B was reluctant to participate in it. Timberlake convinced her after visiting her dressing room (you can leave out the specifics). The choreographer wasn't impressed because X and Y (if there is a why). What critics who mentioned it said (if you find anything; would need at least two opinions). Next paragraph. Melicans (talk, contributions) 07:06, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
Sure, but then I'll have to go to bed; already 2am and I have an exam in twelve hours (blech). Melicans (talk, contributions) 07:12, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
Thanks (I'll need it)! I've taken a stab at the SNL stuff; see what you think, and feel free to tweak as necessary :-). The choreographer source has a link to a video interview with her on Knowles about the skit. I don't have time to watch it now, but you could try and incorporate her thoughts on the end product from that. {{cite video}} will work. You should be able to find most of the information needed for the fields (airdate, etc.) easily enough. I'm off to bed now. G'night! Melicans (talk, contributions) 07:30, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Just a quick note before I go to my exam; if you've contacted people to take another look and they are not responding, you should let the delegates know by writing something like this under their most recent comments:

I have notified {{user}} to see if their concerns have been addressed, but as of (date) they have not yet responded: [diff of notification] signature Melicans (talk, contributions) 16:35, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Just starting a new topic because I can

And what would that be? Status {talkcontribs 01:25, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

LOL, quite obviously. xD Status {talkcontribs 17:00, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
IKR? I mean, it's an OK album, but it's not album of the year worthy. BTW, I read what was written below, and I don't find it premature for "Dance for You", it's a bonus track for heaven's sakes. And it already has a video out, so they would be incredibly stupid to release it as a single now. I don't see any of the songs that have videos on Live at Roseland to be singles. Status {talkcontribs 17:07, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
No, it means they probably will. They did confirm doing an "End of Time" video but it wasn't released with the rest of the videos, so they are obviously saving it for a single release. Dream has said your queen is already recording new music! :O Bitch never stops. Status {talkcontribs 17:16, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
Damn, "Run the World" video shits. Hope it finds it's way online. Yeah, I'm a huge Beyonce fan. I Am... is one of my favorite albums. I never really got into 4 or Dangerously in Love, but still a fan. xD Status {talkcontribs 18:52, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
I love B'Day too. I love her ballads too, of course, but not her real hardcore R&B ones. R&B has never really been my cup of tea. The ballads on I Am... shit so hard. *listens to the album* I happen to own both the deluxe and re-release deluxe of the album. ;) Status {talkcontribs 18:57, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, I really am. Honestly, "Singles Ladies" is the only song on the album that I never really got into. Status {talkcontribs 19:00, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Beyonce

is working on album number 5 already. I think this is a big mistake. Calvin Watch n' Learn 17:28, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Is it the name of the album? Jivesh1205 (Talk) 17:29, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
What??? Calvin Watch n' Learn 17:33, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
Is 5 the name of the album? Why do you think it is a mistake? Jivesh1205 (Talk) 17:34, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
No Jivesh, she is working on her fifth studio album. It's a mistake because she should focus on being a mum, not being a mum and putting an album out. Calvin Watch n' Learn 17:35, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
Lol. That does not mean the album is coming out in January 2012. She is pregnant. She might be bored at home. Already she is doing nothing to promote 4. Maybe that's why she spent time at the studio. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 17:40, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
Also because 4 has not done well. I don't feel like she has put her all into promotion. Calvin Watch n' Learn 17:42, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
Lol. You are being too suggestive now. 4 has not done well? Do you realize that it is at 2.2 million copies (not shipment but sales) worldwide with two flop singles and a moderate hit "Best Thing I Never Had"? Jivesh1205 (Talk) 17:48, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
Well compared to her other three albums, no, 4 has not done well, or more specifically, the singles have not done well on the charts. The album was always bound to do better, track history proves that. Calvin Watch n' Learn 17:52, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
Not all albums leak three weeks prior to their release. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 17:53, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Most albums leak beforehand. True fans will still buy the album, regardless of when it was leaked. Calvin Watch n' Learn 17:54, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Albums leak one week prior to their release. Not three weeks. Do you know that US radios have played the demo of RTW and not the final version. Have you heard how bad that demo was? Did you know because of Beyonce crap new management RTW leak for free download on iTunes eight hours prior its release worldwide? And Beyonce did not choose festive seasons to release her album. True fans. Do you know that an artist's fans account for only 30% of her sales? Jivesh1205 (Talk) 17:59, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

A question

Could the sales mentioned here be used in their articles? My love is love (talk) 17:47, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

They can but "Countdown" and "Party" sales are totally fake and outdated. I hope you know about how that article was criticized by other media? Jivesh1205 (Talk) 17:49, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
Why? My love is love (talk) 17:57, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

By most measures Beyoncé, at age 30, is the veteran of the pair, while 23-year-old Rihanna is still regarded as the young upstart. With Rihanna morphing into a global pop superstar and Beyoncé’s temporary, self-imposed break from music causing a lull in sales, is it fair to even compare their careers? Rolling Stone tasked themselves with finding an answer and it all boils down to numbers in the end. Rolling Stone did a side-by-side breakdown of the impact of both Beyoncé and Rihanna’s careers, finding that the stars are in different places at this stage of the game. Both had a strong showing in 2011, with Beyoncé attempting to storm back with her fourth solo LP 4 while Rihanna’s sixth album Talk That Talk is currently rising on the charts. The piece points out that Rihanna has had a staggering eight hit singles this year alone, by employing radio-friendly arena-rocking pop anthems while Beyoncé dialed in modest hits using traditional R&B and hip hop influences along with some artistic risks that failed to connect with her core audience. It further showed that while Rihanna may command much of the attention Beyoncé once controlled almost universally, she still has not sold as many albums as her predecessor. Beyoncé still remains as big a star as ever, but with Rihanna catering to an audience hungry for dance music and club-rocking jams, will Bey remain true to her creative vision? Will Rihanna exhaust her desire for smash singles and cut back on the pop sound? Only time will tell.

And how shameless? He compares 4 singles to both Loud and TTT. When it comes to album sales, he compares Loud to I Am... Sasha Fierce and not to 4? He was simply biased. Maybe he was reluctant to write that 4 sold one million in the US with three flop singles while Loud sold 1.5 million with three number one singles. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 18:02, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

(edit conflict) Jivesh, he is comparing respective singles released this year and both singers last albums. There is nothing bias about it. Calvin Watch n' Learn 18:06, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
Is I Am... Sasha Fierce Beyonce's last album? He is biased. And he says that Beyonce's album sold three million in the US because it was released in 2008. Biggest joke of the millennium. He keeps on finding excuses. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 18:07, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
(edit conflict) 4 is current and I Am... Sasha Fierce is last in the context I am talking about. He compared Loud to I Am... Sasha Fierce as they are the singer's last albums. And yeah, he is right, the album was release 3 years ago, 3 million sounds about right. Calvin Watch n' Learn 18:10, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
A big LOL. What about GGGB being released in 2006 then released, having three number-ones singles and not reaching 3 million? Do you mean that Loud will reach 3 million in 2012? Jivesh1205 (Talk) 18:16, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
I was talking about I Am... Sasha Fierce. Rihanna is a singles artist, 2.7 million for GGGB is not exactly bad. Calvin Watch n' Learn 18:20, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
And one million for an album whose lead single reached 33 in the US, second single reached 16, and third single reached 71] is what I called pretty respectable sales. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 18:22, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
Who said it wasn't? Calvin Watch n' Learn 18:23, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
Didn't you say it did not do well? So did not do well according you also means pretty respectable sales. I also hope that you know that 4 has been out since only 5 months. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 18:25, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
No, I said it hasn't done well compared to her previous albums and the singles have not attained good chart positions. I never said that 4's sales were not respectable. Platinum is respectable. Calvin Watch n' Learn 18:28, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Only you know hat you are commenting about. You seem totally lost in this discussion. Sometimes you say A, then it is Z. Then you mixed up things. Lol. The point remains that the editor was biased. He only compared sales and on top of that he comparing I Am... Sash Fierce to Loud while he choose to compare singles of 2011 only. Jivesh1205 (Talk) 18:33, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Email. Calvin Watch n' Learn 18:44, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

OK. And don't you think that Beyoncé: The Ultimate Performer should be re-directed? I mean, it can never grow more that it currently is and it will be just a block to promote the B'Day articles to good topic. There are just two articles left that should be promoted, The Beyoncé Experience and The Beyoncé Experience Live which can be easily improved and expanded. My love is love (talk) 22:52, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
I will not do that tour article. I helped to make as it currently is but not anymore. NTUP can be expanded. I c work on the DVDs. :) Jivesh1205 (Talk) 05:07, 21 December 2011 (UTC)
