re: Wonderful Graphics
Thanks for your kind comment about the graphics on the Machine de Marly page. Yes, they are my work. I've tried to include as much detail as possible, thanks in large part to several sets of measured drawings done in the early 17th century of the machinery. I first started doing 3D CG about 45 years ago (mainframe computer, drum / pen plotter) and got involved with Pixar / Renderman about 25 years ago doing photo-realistic rendering. Work on this particular project has been on and off for almost 10 years, and I haven't any idea how much time I've put into it! Animating it was particularly tricky. RE: Laura Branigan Edits
Jim:
I presume you are a bona-fide Wiki editor, and I am writing this here on that basis.
I represent Other Half Entertainment. Edits made to the Laura Branigan page were done swiftly yesterday and I did not have time to explain every edit late last night. I will endeavor to do so over the next week or so, but I do ask that you leave edits as is for the time being, since my time will be limited for some time, as this weekend is the "Spirit of Love" Memorial Gathering, which we host and run. Also, today is the 11th anniversary of Branigan's death, and we have learned to be "hyper-vigilant" regarding content published and posted online.
I will tell you there is a small group of so-called "fans" of our artist who are fixated to an unhealthy degree, with "correcting" what they perceive as "errors" in Branigan's biography. Recently, these people have appeared to hijack databases, Wikipedia entries, and social media content, editing content that they perceive is "incorrect", and Branigan's Wikipedia entry is no different.
Thank you for your understanding.

Hello Jim. The page is about music. That's the reason why I find inopportune a paragraph about alleged 'antisemitism' in Johannes Passion text. If one wants to debate on religion, religious texts ect he-she can do that on a different page. There are sooo many things to say about J.P. text, but I'm unfortunately not surprised to notice anti-christian feelings on wikipedia. I erased that paragraph 2 times. The first time I wrote my reasons. The second time I was not given opportunity to explain. It is not correct to sully the person, and the greatest musician, Bach, by attacking a text that, do not forget this, simply explains the historical facts that happened in Jerusalem 2000 years ago (it is undisputed that the jews-phariseans- sentenced Jesus to death, and let the romans enforce the sentence). I hope you wil take into consideration my point. Music on pages about music. Religion on pages about religion. Thanks, Gianluca. 151.33.226.85 (talk) 01:40, 27 August 2015 (UTC)

Hello,

Lou Holtz
Hi Jim,
You sent me a message stating that I'd made a change to Mr. Holtz's page w/out providing a reason. I apologize for not having done so. The change I made was to the opening sentence of his bio, where it stated that he is, "...a former American football player..." I changed this to read, "...an American former football player..." I see this all the time on Wikipedia (and elsewhere). Mr. Holtz is not a former American. He is, in fact, a former football player (and coach), who happens to be American.

Prov Article
Hey Jim,
Just asking that you participate a bit more in discussions on the talk page of the Prov article... there are several threads going on major structural aspects of the article, and haven't seen your name involved in the discussions though you have been quick to respond to edits to the article itself. Im sure you are busy but youre input would be helpful, thanks GIOSCali (talk) 19:23, 4 September 2015 (UTC)
- @GIOSCali: Providence (religious movement) is a little-read article about yet another religious group with a godman for a leader. Its zealots, of course, want to whitewash the article. Note the numerous permanent blocks to WP:SPAs; the number of which is quite amazing given how little read the article is. Providence stats Catholic Church stats Westboro Baptist Church stats. Essentially, the article is a waste of time. Jim1138 (talk) 08:53, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
- Accuracy is important regardless of the amount of views. Basically, if you want to participate, you should participate fully, not just reverting edits here and there, but engaging in discussions as well. GIOSCali (talk) 16:31, 9 September 2015 (UTC)
Advice from a veteran to a novice about potential bad edits
I should preface this by saying that I'm not a frequent editor on Wikipedia. I noticed you've complained about an IP (https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User_talk:50.26.207.216) that has been hitting a page that I watch with a bunch of random edits (https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/List_of_colors_(compact)). This includes changing information incorrectly (at least as far as I can tell). Is there something I should be doing to protect this page or are my reverts doomed to be ignored?
I'm more curious than angry. I've written an Objective-C library (https://github.com/danblakemore/UIColor-MoreColors) that grabs information from the list of colors page to generate a programatic list of a bunch of named colors. It's not a big deal and not used widely, but if someone makes an incorrect change to the page, my library reflects that, so I kind of care about whether the content is correct.
I figured I'd ask you since you seem to be a frequent editor and care about good content.
Check my edits on that page for the last few weeks for details on what I'm talking about.
Thanks,
Danblakemore (talk) 01:15, 10 September 2015 (UTC)

This part to put into Nestorianism, it is very important.
Overall, Mongols were highly tolerant of most religions, and typically sponsored several at the same time. Many Mongols had been proselytized by the Church of the East since about the 7th century,[3] and some tribes' primary religion was Nestorian. In the time of Genghis Khan, his sons took Christian wives of the Khereid clan, and under the rule of Genghis Khan's grandson, Möngke, the primary religious influence was Christian. The practice of Nestorian Christianity was somewhat different from that practiced in the West, and Europeans tended to regard Nestorianism as heretical for its beliefs about the nature of Jesus. However, the Europeans also had legends about a figure known as Prester John, a great Christian leader in the East who would come to help with the Crusades. One version of the legend connected the identity of Prester John with a Christian Mongol leader, Toghrul, leader of the Kerait clan. When the Mongols conquered northern China, establishing the Yuan Dynasty (1271–1368), Nestorian Christianity was re-introduced to China after a gap of centuries. As the Mongols further expanded, the Christian sympathies of the court, primarily through the influential wives of the khans, led to changes in military strategy. When the Mongols conquered Baghdad in 1258, many of the citizens of the city were massacred, but the Christian inhabitants were spared. As the Mongols further encroached upon Palestine, there were some attempts at forming a Franco-Mongol alliance with the Christians of Europe against the Muslims. Mongol contacts with the West also led to many missionaries, primarily Franciscan and Dominican, traveling eastward in attempts to convert the Mongols to Roman Catholicism. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Williamjullide (talk • contribs) 19:56, 30 July 2015 (UTC)

Unobjective phrasing in École Polytechnique massacre
Hello,
Requesting to restore this edit in order to remove unobjective language. Currently, in describing anti-feminist criticism of the massacre, the example of choice and language such as "appropriating" and "harmed" suggests the writer is biased towards the anti-feminist perspective.
The same point (anti-feminist criticism) can be made objectively by removing the quote and biased language.

The external links that I've mentioned are used by our community. They are authentic links. As far as the the correct way to spell 'Kutchhi' is concerned, these external website that I've mentioned have articles which will walk you through it. Kutchhi is the widely used and agreeded to way to spell. the other variations are used by some people but it is not as widely spread as Kutchhi. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:647:4100:8E07:9C5D:BE51:CEBA:C620 (talk) 21:39, 11 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Im not a vandal, Im a serious historian and scholar and expert on this regions history, and an occasional Wikipedia editor and have left a number of repeated notes on the Sherwan article's talk page. Speedy deletion of AFL player articles
Hi Jim1138, Stan Petrie and Mark Daffey are notable as per Wikipedia:Notability (sports) subsection regarding Australian Football League players. Cyrtospirifer
With regard to the Cyrtospirifer page: Really? You reverted my single-character edit on the grounds of failure to provide a source? Either way, the page is incorrect as written and should read either "...extinct genus of brachiopod" (the usual English name for the creatures is brachiopod) or "...extinct genus of Brachiopoda" (capital letter for the family name "Brachiopoda", following the rules of standard zoological nomenclature). This is nothing more than a proof-reading change, surely too small to require attribution of source - must we cite every word in an article? To be quite frank, this type of editorial practice is reflective of the same kinds of attitudes that made me give up on serious contributions to Wikipedia in the first place. Your time is better spent on things other than making reversions to tiny changes just because the reasoning behind them isn't immediately clear to you, and my time is better spent on things other than arguing about such reversions. REAP
Hi Jim1138,
I admit I am new to Wikipedia - this was my first post.
I work for greenCore and we have had massive success with this adaption with our clients. We are subscribers to a conscious capitalist philosophy that serves to not only support our organisation but also simultaneously advance our industry, our customers and the world as a whole. As such, we have released this approach to assist in helping businesses gather their Program and Project requirements.
If there is a particular method I should be using I would appreciate as it is not spam and I'm unsure what I need to do to to validate the source.
regards,
Geoff — Preceding unsigned comment added by Makofish (talk • contribs) 10:13, 29 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Geoff,
- I am sure you made the contribution in good faith. Some users take a dim view of people that contribute on a topic that is close to them, but I think it is OK, so long as you try your hardest to remain neutral and listen to others if they disagree with you.
- In this case, it would be very helpful to know if the REAP concept has been covered by sources that can be considered reliable. i.e. not just a post on greenCores website. The ideal would be sources independent of greenCore. e.g. a management journal. However, something like a book written by one of the greenCore employees would also be OK, if it was of sufficient quality and not just a promotional piece for greenCore.

Christopher Daniels revert
Howdy! You seem to have reverted a bunch of edits I made to the Christopher Daniels article, with the comment "Unexplained removal of content;" however, the majority of the changes had been marked as copy edits (as with many wrestling articles it is fairly badly written and I've been trying to fix that), and when the changes weren't copy edits I thought I'd explained what I was doing and why. Would you mind pointing out where you feel I was in error? ErdrickLoto (talk) 03:24, 2 November 2015 (UTC) @ErdrickLoto: My apology. I misinterpreted a couple of your edits. For some reason, my reasoning, if you could call it that, was not posted on your talk page. I undid my reversions. Again, my apology. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 03:34, 2 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Hello, I'm Raviteja0112. I noticed that you deleted my change to an article, Amaravathi (2009 film),the posters of both movies are the source to my change.I posted that both movies are mistaken to be remakes because both movie posters uses the same mask but both movie plots are different.I can attach the movie posters as reference but i want to know is it reliable. you can leave me a message with details on my talk page. Thanks. Raviteja0112 (talk) 10:20, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
- Raviteja0112, if you made that conclusion from the film or the poster, that would be considered wp:original research (OR). An interpretation or conclusion from the poster would need to be from a wp:reliable source (RS). OR should be avoided as someone else might use that to come to a different conclusion. The article might then fill up with everyone's interpretations. If two RS have different interpretations, they all could be added to the article if it is notable. Wikipedia should not contain original content. It all should be from RS. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 10:28, 11 December 2015 (UTC)

Explanation of actions
Hello, sorry to bother you, but I would like to clarify a few things about this edit of mine, which you reverted. If you look carefully at the titles of the citations, you will see that the links were duplicated (placed in the title section), and another accessdate has been given. I was trying to remove the duplicate urls and accessdates from the title (I left the url=, date/year, and title text untouched). I haven't deleted any citations outright (if I have, please tell me and I'll go away). If you don't mind, I'd like to ask for permission to revert your reversion.
Have a nice rest of your day!

just tell me do you watch movies. If you watch movies tell me how can we cite a source for a movie plot.Raviteja0112 (talk) 11:14, 21 December 2015 (UTC)
- @Raviteja0112: The edits that I reverted of yours are not plots, they seems to be your opinion or are unsourced information about the film, not the plot.
- Your edit here to Hitch has a conclusion that appears to be your own. That would be considered wp:original research. Please do not add your own opinion to articles.
- Your edit here to Kill Bill does not discuss plot. It adds information which is not from the film. i.e. unsourced.
- Your edit here to Kill Bill adds citations for that information. Sourced. Thank you. Jim1138 (talk) 11:23, 21 December 2015 (UTC)
Wordfunk
@Wordfunk: Your edits were reverted twice by two different editors which you reverted. per wp:edit warring An edit war occurs when editors who disagree about the content of a page repeatedly override each other's contributions and "but my edits were right, so it wasn't edit warring" is no defense. I reverted once, reverted once, you reverted twice. That's edit warring. You are welcome to remove the notice yourself. I will not do that. You are approaching another edit warring warning for repeatedly adding essentially the same content to my talk page. BTW: my talk page, I'm exempt. Jim1138 (talk) 01:31, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
- Cut the distraction from what you actually did, apologize for it and remove the bad mark from my talk page.
- You, and they, copy and pasted back in a 99% duplication of content I had not even removed. Content I had merely split into paragraphs.
- And then you were dishonest to say it was "referenced" when it was not.
- That is why I am asking for an apology, and for the bad mark to be erased from my talk page so it is not used against me. --Wordfunk (talk) 12:30, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Wordfunk: Read what I said. Not the whys of content change, that you reverted twice. That is why you were warned. There were references, whether or not they were valid or functional. Read WP:DONTGETIT I am not apologizing. Do not bring this up on my talk page again. Do not reply here on this topic. We are done here. Jim1138 (talk) 16:43, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
- I am sorry Jim but we are not done until the issue is resolved.
- Already your bogus and erroneous accusation has caused me problems, wasted energy and bad will on other topic. You've been around here long enough to know how the system works.
- In each of the edits your refer to, the content being replaced by others including yourself was a 99% duplication of what was already and immediately above it. If anyone you should have been accusing the others.
- So, my position is the same. Apologise for wasting my time and creating this conflict, and erase your bogus and erroneous accusation from my page.
- Thank you. --Wordfunk (talk) 00:29, 11 January 2016 (UTC)

- @Wordfunk: I told you to stay off my user pages. Jim1138 (talk) 03:23, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
- I asked you politely to apologize and remove or erase your mistake. Perhaps you could do so instead of running to an admin to cause more trouble. Thank you. --Wordfunk (talk) 04:01, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Wordfunk: If there was something to apologize for, I would. You seem unable or unwilling to acknowledge your own error by edit warring. So, there is nothing to apologize for. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 04:01, 12 January 2016 (UTC)

Jim1138, there was no edit warring. You kept adding in a duplication of content directly above it.
Read that again. you were adding in duplicate content. Are you tell me, I should have left it?

- Wordfunk, as I have said several times, stay off my user pages. Jim1138 (talk) 08:41, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
- Not until we resolve this issue, you apologise and remove or preferably erase the bad mark you erroneously made.
- Why should I live it? You were clearly in the wrong. You need to take responsibility for your actions and consider the effect of them upon others.
- It's remarkable that you will go to all this effort to refuse obstinately, when to simply remove or delete it would take less. Thank you --Wordfunk (talk) 02:31, 13 January 2016 (UTC)

hi my name is atara, i saw you changed/deleted my edit of the "shach", Shabtai HaKohen page just now - the source is a little known book called otzar ma'asit , or something, its in hebrew , Shabtai HaKohen had a daughter named esther, with the wife who died (her name is miriam ) who became royalty. that change, is the whole story i got in english off some blog - i tend to believe this story because i'm a descendant of rabbi moshe isserlis and any connection is true. if you can do me a favor - rewrite it so it is appropriate for wikipedia research this is the blog link : http://dreamingofmoshiach.blogspot.co.il/2006/11/esther-lost-daughter-of-shach.html, another version : https://www.ou.org/life/history/daughter_of_shach1/ i'm very interested in finding out if this story is historically accurate, if there is indeed a true factual basis to this story , and which king of poland and princess maria this is connected to. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.86.111.107 (talk) 23:09, 26 December 2015 (UTC)
