How to List my Images
Jac16888,
I find Wikipedia completely exasperating, I mean completely, and every time I create a new article and work with its content, the processes that I use seem to change. In the past I remember it being intuitively obvious how to view all the images I've uploaded in one place. Now I'm tearing my hair out trying to figure out where the images are and where to go to edit them or rename them.
I know you're just passing thru, but maybe you can help me with just a simple command or menu sequence so I can find and list my GD IMAGES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bwisok (talk • contribs) 04:51, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
- I'll be honest I know very little about images so I'm probably not the best person to ask, you could try looking at Wikipedia:Picture tutorial as a starting point--Jac16888 Talk 00:24, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
Removing a suggestion
Hello. If you remove a suggestion from Wikipedia:Pages needing translation into English, why don't you remove the {{Not English}} template from the article's talk page too? Arms Jones (talk) 00:02, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
- Because I didn't know it was on the talk page, that tag goes on the article and doesn't add talk pages to the relevant category--Jac16888 Talk 00:19, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

I want to know what will happen to the admin
Hi, as the report I made was just ended by you, I want to know what will happen to the admin in question. Bye. Tibullus (talk) 17:54, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
- We're going to bring him back to the centre for a little "re-education". Nothing is going to happen, because nothing needs to happen. Please drop it--Jac16888 Talk 18:01, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
- So everything I done is lost? All the time I spent writing and checking if the sources were available down the drain? I don't get even apologies from someone who you did acknowledge wasn't acting in the right way? He gets away with it? Why did you end it saying "before it escalates"? Were you fearing something happened to GiantSnowman, such as having his admin status revoked? Were you fearing I'd taught him a moral lesson? Talk about bias... Tibullus (talk) 18:06, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
- You are perfectly free to restore the content...provided you include references this time as you should have done immediately, and as you should have done as soon as you were reverted. I closed it because you are obviously overreacting to this incident and were likely to say something that would result in action being taken against you. As I have said, drop it.--Jac16888 Talk 18:09, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
- I would have added the references if you didn't give admin status to every unworthy person out there. What do you mean actions taken against me? He used aggressive language against me and he has duties towards the users and nothing happens to him and I complain about him and I get risked of actions being taken against me? What actions would be taken? Should I see this as a threat? What on earth is this? Why would you assume I'd say something? Is this how you lot see regular users, even those who have been sticking around for ages? Tibullus (talk) 18:15, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
- Either add the references or don't, what you are doing right now is escalating a minor incident and devolving into attacks and baseless accusations. For the last time, drop it. Go take a break and calm down--Jac16888 Talk 18:23, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
- I am perfectly calm. You are the ones making threats. How can you threaten me when I am merely complaining? You are only exposing yourselves even further. What do you whole lot have against me? Tibullus (talk) 18:30, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
- When you go to another editors page to have a jab at them because you didn't get your way, that is escalating. It has already been explained to you repeatedly that you were in the wrong as much as GS, more so in fact since BLP & BDP are major policies which you were actually violating. Drop the stick and back slowly away from the horse carcass, you're only embarrassing yourself at this point--Jac16888 Talk 18:35, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
- How can you say I want to get my way when I've acknowledged I was wrong even though I had good intentions? You never stop making assumptions about me, do you? I already backed away from your silly horse carcass because I won't simply edit that article anymore. If anyone was embarassing themselves it was you lots. It's good to know that users and admins are not on equal foot. Nothing happened to that so-called "admin" (quotations intended, truly) but I get threatened, bashed at, and disregarded. Tibullus (talk) 18:45, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
- You have raised a tiny dispute about references into a massive deal, spanning multiple pages, and all for what? What exactly are you hoping to achieve by this? Would you like me to go and block GS for being a bit rude? Knowing that in doing so I would also block you since you are now being just as rude? Go and add your content to your article and stop wasting my time--Jac16888 Talk 18:50, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
- Tiny dispute? Is that how you whole lot see our complaints? I want an apologies from that "admin" (again quotations intended, truly) for interrupting me, for having me lost everything I was trying to work at for hours. Even you say he was wrong, and yet no one suggested that and you people are trying to make me look like the bad guy. But I'm not getting any, am I? You and your big egos will not accept or agree upon that, it would be too humiliating. He didn't even offer to help me restore things. I'm not editing it. Snobs, you think you're better than everyone else. Tibullus (talk) 19:05, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

Neutral?
Hi Jac,
Hope this gets to you as I ma not sure of directing answers to the right person here. There doesn't seem to be any way to actually reply to a message I get unless I am missing it. You removed my edit on Rosemary Beach. I had described the village as it is today, listing prices and stylus of housing now available there and added a list of current restaurants. Not sure what you thought was not neutral about this. Please let me know. I have not been doing this too long so do not want to violate any rules. I am in the process of changing wording on some articles I edited as I just found out I cannot use my own copyright work that was used on another site. So I am in here trying to straighten that out. (I'm still not sure why I can't use something I own the copyright to?)
KatyrwKatyrw (talk) 23:36, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Wikipedia is not a tourism guide, nor is it a place to promote a village and its housing. As such, none of that info belongs. If there's an article about a specific restaurant that already exists on Wikipedia, then it's appropriate to link to it in the village article. You cannot quote anything you own the copyright to without releasing it fully to the Foundation via a different process - and most people don't want to give up their rights to their material that way. It's also probable that you don't qualify as a reliable source at this point anyway. Hope that helps ES&L 18:07, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

Recent Page Deletion
Greetings,
Recently you deleted the Wikipedia page for the applications and games company, Twyvel Apps, stating that there is no explanation of significance (real person/animal/organization/web content/organized event)). The page was in no way advertising the company, it in no way gave links to purchase the products - it was a fully functional, information fuelled article on a mid-lane iOS gaming platform company that attracts tens of thousands of users world-wide on it's applications. Wikipedia even states that it "has grown rapidly into one of the largest reference websites". An article referencing a large iOS based company (with the required referencing added) seems to fit this description and policy quite nicely, which for the record, Twyvel Apps's Wikipedia page was constructed alongside this iOS/Game development company's article (Backflip Studios) so the page was well in it's rights to be created, live and active.
Furthermore, Wikipedia is known for providing background information on companies and persons who form/run these companies, however having no research page available ceasing interested users/other companies from researching the Twyvel Apps company - which is what Wikipedia is all about - researching information on just about anything.
I ask that you please Rollback the deletion of the article. Thank you for your time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Xsile (talk • contribs) 10:28, 14 January 2014 (UTC)

RfD on redirect from Cyrillic/Russian with R from alternate language (Цари́ца)
Dear Jac,
at WP:Redirects_for_discussion/Log/2014_February_3#Цари́ца there is a discussion on Russian/Cyrillic redirect ([[Цари́ца)) to Tsaritsa. I may be very much mistaken but I know at [[WP:PNT}} once a few months ago I suggested redirecting or creating an {{R from alternate language}}
and was told that is kinda not what it is for. Personally I can't see why someone typing in Cyrillic – if they were using an external search tool etc – would want to end up at Tsaritsa in EN:WP instead of Царица in RU:WP. Also ru:Цари́ца appears to be a DAB page (I don't speak Russian) so those kind of Interwiki links seem rather broken.
If you could care to cast your eye at the RfD and give your opinion I would be very grateful: that does not mean of course you have to agree with me, but that I think your opinion would be noted there. Best wishes and thanks for all the hard work you do at PNT. Si Trew (talk) 02:16, 4 February 2014 (UTC)

Hi,
Last year the page "Andrisoft_WANGUARD" ( Userfication at User:Vborcan/Andrisoft_WANGUARD ) was deleted for notability concerns. That's no wonder since the Anti-DDoS software makers are few, but on this market segment and on dedicated mailing-lists Andrisoft is well represented. It was mentioned by Infonetics: http://www.infonetics.com/pr/2013/1H13-DDoS-Prevention-Appliances-Market-Highlights.asp University of Warsaw (Poland) held a conference on it: http://aegis.edu.pl/agenda/ Several other mentions exist on the web and about 200 companies are using Andrisoft WANGUARD. Few are listed on www.andrisoft.com Can I revert the page please ? Many people found out about the product from wikipedia.. they are network engineers not SEO specialists.. Thank you for you time!

Regarding the deletion of time table of trains from Kollam Junction Railway Station Page
I understood that Wikipedia is not a directory to keep all the info available in this world. That's why you deleted the time table. But What about the other railway station pages?? Almost all the pages in wiki regarding the railway stations in India are denoting the details of various trains passing through/having halts at the particular station. Why you deleted the info from this page only?? Almost all the major railway station pages like Trivandrum, Thrissur, Ernakulam Junction etc are displaying the details of trains in the page itself. But its removed by you from Kollam Railway Station page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.111.177.222 (talk) 11:29, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

Non-admins closing discussions as delete
Hi Jac16888, I was hoping to talk to you about non-admin closures, specifically those where there's consensus to delete. It was brought to my attention that you discouraged a non-admin from doing so, though the specifics of that case aren't what I want to discuss. You're right to cite WP:BADNAC, of course, which is clear that such closures shouldn't be performed (for what it's worth, the guideline at WP:NACD uses weaker wording). But I wonder if this isn't outdated, or a barrier to good-faith editors that want to help out with backlog maintenance.
I'm not sure what your areas of admin expertise are. I work mostly at RFD, RM, and MFD, so I'm drawing on my experiences here. At RM, some non-admins (myself included, when I was one) will close discussions as move when they can't actually perform the move, using {{db-move}} to clear the way. That's against BADNAC too, but having seen RM from both sides, such practices haven't caused any harm—quite the contrary, they've helped a good deal in a forum that fairly regularly has a formidable backlog.
If a non-admin is making such closes in bad faith, is fumbling the technical aspects, or judging consensus poorly, by all means, they should be stopped. But I've encountered several competent non-admins who have made closes like this (or with {{db-xfd}}), and their involvement has been very helpful in tackling backlogs where admins are in short supply. I realize there needs to be some more centralized discussion if we're going to loosen these restrictions. But in the meantime, I think we could apply an "any reasonable admin" standard. If any reasonable admin would come to the same conclusion, and if the non-admin tags the page to be deleted appropriately, is it really in the project's best interests to discourage these closes? --BDD (talk) 19:12, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
- NAC is very clear, (as is NACD: "Non-administrators should not close discussions in which they lack the technical ability to act upon the outcome") and it's just obvious from a technical viewpoint, if an editor is incapable of deleting a page then they should not be making a decision that said page should be deleted. All using templates such as the above does is remove an item from one backlog and add it to another, it does little to actually reduce the workload--Jac16888 Talk 19:19, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
- Hm. In my experience, the CSD categories don't tend to be very backlogged. There are administrators who probably don't want to sit down and assess consensus in a discussion, but if it's already been decided, they're happy to push the button. --BDD (talk) 20:20, 14 April 2014 (UTC)
- If as an admin I came across such a tag, I would as part of my due diligence check the xfd to determine that the consensus was judged correctly, just as I would closing an afd or deleting a prod or any other action, and I would expect any other admin to do the same. I feel like this tagging way also reduces culpability "It wasn't my fault I just closed I didn't delete it", "It wasn't my fault I just deleted it, I didn't close it"--Jac16888 Talk 21:03, 14 April 2014 (UTC)

Incomprehensible Philippines pages
Hi Jac16888
Thanks for noting and PRODding these pages, created by Mayapa, Calamba (talk · contribs) which I noticed, about an hour ago, have had the PRODs and maintenance templates systematically removed without explanation by a Philippines IP, 112.207.52.18 (talk · contribs). I have re-tagged as required, though some now have a single ext. lk as a source.
One you didn't actually PROD, Sirang Lupa, Calamba was created by a now indeffed editor Jhaeyvan Clarin (talk · contribs) (abusing multiple accounts), and has now been edited by user 'Mayapa, Calamba', and the above IP. Funny that!
I have a strong feeling we have another sock of Ivan Clarin (talk · contribs). See Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Ivan Clarin/Archive. Hope this is some interest. Regards, --220 of Borg 05:29, 15 April 2014 (UTC)

11 December 2013 Euromaidan assault article problem
Hi Recently I've translated the article "11 December 2013 Euromaidan assault". It was my project at the university,as I study English-Ukrainian translation. Unfortunately, it was marked as one for deletion. I would like to mention that this is only a translation of the Ukrainian article. If this article is not good, it's main version in Ukrainian should be deleted. And also I'm sure that this article is not biased, as I witnessed the events described in it and may affirm that everything is true. thanks for your time — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zshpodarunok (talk • contribs) 20:28, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
- Content on the English Wikipedia has no affect on the Ukrainian Wikipedia, and vice-versa, just because there is an article over there, does not mean there should be one here. The article itself comes across as very biased and one-sided, with virtually no sources at all to back up the statements it is making--Jac16888 Talk 21:32, 21 April 2014 (UTC)
re: X key and Template:Keyboard keys
Hello — in December you deleted the article “X key” which is referenced by Template:Keyboard keys. The template is now showing a red link, which should probably be removed. I've peeked at the template source, and removing the dead link seems simple enough, but having never edited a template, I'd like to confirm that it's really that straightforward, lest I do damage to the fifty articles which use this template. Any warnings, caveats, or subtle side effects I should be aware of, other than WP:DDMP? Thanks for any wisdom you wish to offer! 50.181.30.121 (talk) 07:45, 22 April 2014 (UTC)

You have reverted my edits, may i know the reason. I've just organised info and based on the tag i have edited. If anything mistake, I obey. My view is does the parliament, assembly constituency and MLA names and private school names are required on a town or village page. You can see hyderabad, vijayawada pages, where they only mention civic administration instead of politicians names. Also, they mention only important universities or colleges rather than private schools names ehich are in every street.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Vin09 (talk • contribs) 19:37, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

- I'll address your post-script first, my nationality is irrelevant, and yours should be too. I have reverted your restoration, in it's current state this article does not belong on Wikipedia, it is badly written and translated, overly biased and barely sourced, the fact that it relates to a Romanian Wikipedia page is irrelevant. If you feel there should be an article on this group please begin by expanding the Romanian anti-communist resistance movement page, or by creating a page from scratch using WP:AFC. Do not restore it again--Jac16888 Talk 21:57, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
0. Please bring proof that the page is bad translated !
1. Based on what principle there is no option to have a separate page regarding this Group ?
2.The page you decided to "delete" is the translation of the Romanian page. So your argument "the fact that it relates to a Romanian Wikipedia page is irrelevant". In this case you should delete that page, too.
3. The Romanian page has a lot of books in the Biography. The same books were listed in the page deleted by you.
4. You should have start this discussion regarding these allegations NOT to delete it !
5. How can you judge if the information was biased if you can't speak / read / understand Romanian.
6. I don't think that your last idea seems to sound as a threat. Is it or not ?
7. I would like to bring this discussion to a higher level - having a sort of umpire that would listen to our ideas and decide accordingly.

- Content on the Romanian Wikipedia has no bearing on the English Wikipedia and vice-versa, the two are entirely independent. The bias of the page is clear when it includes long and dramatic quotes from members of the group. I am not saying there should be no article on the group, rather I am saying you should start again without basing it on an obviously biased translation. Create a page at [[User:Bogdan.bobolea/Sandbox and begin again, include hard facts only, as many references as you can (i.e. more than just two documents of unclear origin, and take a look at articles on similar subjects for an idea of what you should be doing, such as American Indian Movement or Prague Spring, then submit the page to WP:AFC and allow it to be properly assessed by expert article writers--Jac16888 Talk 22:52, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
Hello Jac,
A.
You are saying:
“Content on the Romanian Wikipedia has no bearing on the English Wikipedia and vice-versa, the two are entirely independent.“
My reply:
“From Wikipedia’s “Terms of Use”:
“Part of our mission is to:
Empower and Engage people around the world to collect and develop educational content […].
Disseminate this content effectively and globally, free of charge.

The Wikimedia Foundation is dedicated to encouraging the growth, development and distribution of free multilingual content, and to hosting the full content of these wiki-based Projects for the public free of charge. Our role is to host some of the largest collaboratively edited reference Projects in the world […]”
a) I couldn’t find any mention regarding the fact that it is forbidden to have a Wiki page mirrored in another language;
b) How on Earth does Wikipedia fulfill its mission (to disseminate effectively and globally) if you are denying the existence of twin pages in other languages?
c) If it is possible to have a version in English of a Romanian Wiki page, for what purpose the English version must have lesser words than the original one?
d) By deleting the page using very “objective remarks” (“this is a horrendous mess of an article”) have you or haven’t you broken the idea “Our role is to host some of the largest collaboratively edited reference Projects in the world”? From where I am standing the deleting action is not a sign of cooperation.
Why didn’t you put a warning as usual: “This page has some issues”? or “This page will be deleted in two weeks because of the following criteria a)… b)… etc ?” so I could had adjusted it accordingly.
Why did you leave the link valid so it would be a circular reference?
When you are on the page and you click on Grupul Carpatin Făgărăşan it goes back to the beginning of the same page.
You did a similar action before:
Turbinia Hello you have made a change here https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Turbinia&oldid=prev&diff=591146894 . You have left a live link but it now goes nowhere. I wonder whether you intended this and if so why. Robertforsythe (talk) 11:01, 18 January 2014 (UTC) Links from the articlespace to the userspace are not allowed, as userpages are not subject to the rules and guidelines that articles are. I left the link for the possibility that the subject could be an article one day, if that is not the case please remove it--Jac16888 Talk 13:32, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
Should I be biased (as you are enjoying so much using this word) to presume that you had left in both situations a valid link so the persons who created those pages to think that everything is OK? A broken link (red) would have triggered the alarm, wouldn’t it?
B.
You are saying:
“The bias of the page is clear when it includes long and dramatic quotes from members of the group”.
I am saying:

History Research Methods. Appropriate Bias? – Essay Sample McCullagh, C. Behan. “Bias in Historical Description, Interpretation, and Explanation.” History & Theory 39.1 (2000): 39.Academic Search Complete. EBSCO. Web. 3 Aug. 2011.
History is made by those who write it, so it is unsurprising that bias is present in historical descriptions, interpretations, and explanations. However, few people realize the extent and severity of the bias commonly showed in historical texts, and avoiding cultural bias is often difficult to identify- much less correct.
McCullagh claims that personal bias is not as harmful as cultural bias […]
C.
You are saying:
“I am not saying there should be no article on the group, rather I am saying you should start again without basing it on an obviously biased translation.

I am saying:
The references used in the page are written by
1.Ion Gavrila Ogoranu – the leader of that Carpathian Group Fagarasan
2.Florian Banu :
has a PhD in History, superior councilor at the National Council for studying the Securitate Archive;
is co-editor of ”Bande, bandiţi şi eroi”. Grupurile de rezistenţă din munţi şi Securitatea (1948-1968), Bucureşti, Editura Enciclopedică, 2003, (co-editor); ("Gangs, bandits and heroes” Resistance groups from the mountains and Securitate;

The book written by professor Florian Banu used as reference is called “Mişcarea de rezistenţă armată anticomunistă din România - între negare şi hiperbolizare/ Publicat în Rezistenţa anticomunistă – cercetare ştiinţifică şi valorificare muzeală, vol.I “ (The armed anticommunism resistance movement from Romania – between denial and augmentation – published in Anticommunism Resistance – scientific research and museum capitalization, Vol. I)
I didn’t know that in order to publish a page on Wiki I need to perform a research similar to a Master's or a PhD Diploma and to read so many books. If you had left the page as it was, some readers (not you) would have had the chance to challenge the information provided by me and to write other ideas, different than those exposed by me.
“From Wikipedia’s “Terms of Use”:
a. We do not take an editorial role: Because the Wikimedia Projects are collaboratively edited, all of the content that we host is provided by users like yourself, and we do not take an editorial role. This means that we generally do not monitor or edit the content of the Project websites, and we do not take any responsibility for this content.
From my point of view, you have grossly breached this rule.
PS
And finally: I am proud to be Romanian. This is the reason why I am writing about my fellows who died in the mountains fighting against the Communism and I am disseminating information about their actions. Of course my English is bad, but nobody is perfect.
As McCullagh said “the personal bias is not as harmful as cultural bias”, I strongly suggest to take your time and watch those two YouTube video translated into English by me. If you don’t trust my English: I have a translator diploma (English – Romanian) and I worked two years in UK.
By the way, would you be so kind to tell me how can I contact directly the person who oversees/ who is monitoring your activity to inform him/ her about our misunderstandings?
Thank you!
- You have missed virtually every point I tried to make, along with vastly misinterpreting both Wikipedias terms of use and meaning of bias. To answer A, I did not say we won't have an article that is on another Wikipedia, just that the fact they have one does not mean we have to. They have no creative control over us, and vice-versa. Your comment about my edit to Turbinia is as far as I can tell, completely irrelevant. B: Not even clear what you are saying here, the page as it was had an obvious bias and was therefore unacceptable by Wikipedia policy as I have already linked to. C: In other words you have a reference from an obviously biased party, and a single reference that may be of value. One reference is not anywhere near enough. Regarding the rule you claim I have breached, I have no connection with the Wikimedia Foundation, which is the one claiming no editorial role. I am an administrator and a editor, i.e. I do take an editorial role, and I have nobody who oversees me in doing so. In your postscript you make clear your fundamental misunderstanding of what Wikipedia is. Wikipedia does not "disseminate information", it is an encyclopedia, the role of which is to summarise and report already disseminated information. In order for you to attempt to improve this page I have moved it to your userspace, User:Bogdan.bobolea/Grupul Carpatin Fagarasan. Here I suggest you make an effort to bring it in line with our policies, then submit it for approval through WP:AFC--Jac16888 Talk 20:41, 20 May 2014 (UTC)

You tagged Hronovka and Regnerka for deletion with the rationale: incomprehensible. I disagree: although written in terrible English, the basic facts of the article were easily understandable. I have rewritten the article in clear English, and removed the PROD, although I still doubt the notability of the topic. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 20:51, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
Article moved, but now unreachable!
Hi! I wrote an article named Volsonis (https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Volsonis) that has been deleted because it was written in another language (croatian). The article now exists here https://hr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volsonis, but it's actually unreachable - when I type "Volsonis" in google, it shows the old article which has been deleted (https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Volsonis). How can I make the article in croatian (https://hr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volsonis) to appear in google results? Thanks!

Article Headlines
Hi Jac16888,
I represent XPRIZE, and am wondering why all of our edits keep getting deleted. We are trying to establish our brand, and that is very difficult to do when Wikipedia has us and our competition incorrectly listed. XPRIZE is our official registered trademark, even though we are still known to the IRS as the X PRIZE Foundation. We only use the space in filings with the government, but all public facing media presents our brand as XPRIZE.
We can be listed as XPRIZE or XPRIZE Foundation for our main article page. There should not be a space between 'X' and 'PRIZE'. The same goes for all of our competitions: Northrop Grumman Lunar Lander XCHALLENGE (currently listed just as Lunar Lander Challenge), Ansari XPRIZE (currently listed as Ansari X Prize), XPRIZE Cup (currently listed as X Prize Cup), Progressive Insurance Automotive XPRIZE (currently listed as Automotive X Prize), Wendy Schmidt Oil Cleanup XCHALLENGE (currently listed as Wendy Schmidt Oil Cleanup X Challenge at Oil_Cleanup_XPrize), Google Lunar XPRIZE (currently listed as Google Lunar X Prize), Archon Genomics XPRIZE (currently listed as Archon X Prize), Qualcomm Tricorder XPRIZE (currently listed as Tricorder X Prize), Nokia Sensing XCHALLENGE (not yet listed except in the article about the foundation), and Wendy Schmidt Ocean Health XPRIZE (not yet listed except in the article about the foundation).
If you could please help us with these edits and possibly even locking them, we would greatly appreciate it. It is a constant fight to control our brand as there are so many outlets that are misrepresenting us.
Thank you,

Copyright questions relating to two articles
I see that you concluded here that The Stronato (Paraguay) was (not a copyvio)
It looks a bit complicated to me. Here's what I observed:
- In this edit User:Calliopejen1 added a substantial amount of material, inclduing the Stronato material to History of Paraguay with the edit notice (+PD content from library of congress!) . However, I do not see any notice of attribution or identification of the source in that edit, the next few subsequent edits, or present in the article as it existed on 2 July 2014 just before removal.
- user:The Northaptonshire pins cut the material from the article and created a new article. I believe this violates our own rules for attribution.
- user:The Northaptonshire pins referenced the material to Mother Earth Travel which I doubt qualifies as a reliable source.
I think there's some work to do to make this right, but I want to start by figuring out whether my summary is accurate and complete.--S Philbrick(Talk) 18:36, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
- I'll be honest I just checked that it was moved from another article as the status says, but the does seem a bit more tricky. I think you're right on your first point, attribution of the source material should have been/be added. WP:SPLIT says that the only attribution needed is "the page receiving the split material must have an edit summary noting "split content from article name" in the new article which was done, although I suppose it should have been linked. Re point 3, the mother earth page appears to be copied from the Area Handbook of the US Library of Congress, which I'm guessing is where the original content came from, so perhaps that should be repointed to just the actual book rather than another page hosting--Jac16888 Talk 18:48, 22 July 2014 (UTC)
- Given your answer, I'll copy the above, and move my subsequent post to Talk:The_Stronato_(Paraguay)--S Philbrick(Talk) 19:10, 22 July 2014 (UTC)

Checking to make sure we are reaching the same conclusion
I see that you concluded that Fantasia (franchise) is not a copyvio.
I looked briefly, but it appears to me that some of the phrasing that matches this site, does so because that site (without attribution) borrowed from an earlier Wikipedia article, such as Fantasia (1940 film). However, while copying within Wikipedia is permissible, it much be properly attributed. I see that the editor has been reminded of this recently.
Does this match your take? If so, would you be willing to inform the editor? If you would prefer that I do it, please inform me, but I'm out of town for a couple days starting soon, so cannot get to it until late in the week.--S Philbrick(Talk) 18:52, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

Jens Drolshammer
I'm not yet satisfied regarding the copyright status of Jens Drolshammer. If you based it on this edit, I don't think that is good enough. As a technical point, it asserts a release of some text but doesn't adequately specify the subject text. Presumably, it refers to this page but it doesn't say so. Second, it doesn't even assert ownership of the copyright of that page. I've looked through that site, and may well have missed something, but I found a reference to a CC license which is not compatible, so we need to find evidence that the particular page in question is subject to a different license. Plus there are other issues, but I'll just stop here and say I'm planning to blank it and submit it to WP:CP. If you have investigated and found some things I've missed, please bring them to my attention. If you can find evidence that this page is NOT governed by the Terms of service, please let me know.--S Philbrick(Talk) 02:09, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

Difference between Prismatic compass and Surveyor Compass
You have recently deleted this page because of copying from youtube. Have you checked the page?? It was from surveying text books of S.S BHAVAKATTI and C.L Kochher page 132. This bot was in my opinion malfactuning. Now I would like you to revert your edit or I am going to challenge your deletion. If there was something copied from YouTube, prove it. - So what you're saying is you copied from a text-book, not the youtube page? Still not allowed. Also this is encyclopedia, a bulleted list of details about two different compasses is not an article--Jac16888 Talk 17:34, 18 August 2014 (UTC)
Okay, also copying is not prohibited in wikipedia but copy right voliations is forbidden. One can go to a public library and collect data from different books for an article to be written on wikipedia. Am I right ???

Please Reconsider the deletion of the content.
Hi Jac16888,
I am writing this with respect to the following page:
https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Great_Lakes_Institute_of_Management
I have come to understand that our page is deleted and the reasons mentioned are 1. Copied content 2. Promotional content.
You can check the reasons as per the cache page from Google: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Great_Lakes_Institute_of_Management&ion=1&espv=2
Also, please find attached the screenshot.
I would like to submit the following explanation for reconsideration request:
1. I would like to mention that the said page is a very old page and we have not copied any content. Instead the web links mentioned hereunder have copied pour content and is the reason behind CorenSearchBot searching the same.
2. Promotional Content: The content is written to explain about the institute, campuses and Programs offered with relevant references.
Its an old content and is there since last many years. You can check the web archive version of the same as under:
We respect your authority and would like you to reconsider and let us know what changes should we make in the content to have the page up and running.
Thanks. Webmaster ajit (talk) 06:48, 21 August 2014 (UTC)
- The content as it stood was clearly promotional, written with a blatant bias towards the institute. I suggest you create a new article from scratch using the WP:AFC system, and following Wikipedia:WikiProject Schools/Article guidelines--Jac16888 Talk 17:11, 21 August 2014 (UTC)
Deletion of Siam Society
Hi. Please reconsider your deletion of the Siam Society article under CSD G12. While the bot did identify some duplicate phrases, I don't think the whole article was "unambiguous copyright infringement". Even if there were close paraphrasing issues, the copied contents should have been small enough to have been fixable by copyediting. --Paul_012 (talk) 11:50, 21 August 2014 (UTC)
- It was copied almost word for word, with a few minor changes here and there, it was certainly a copyright violation.--Jac16888 Talk 17:19, 21 August 2014 (UTC)

I notice that you've deleted my page. Since you have a history of having deleted 28556 pages this is clesrly something which you feel strongly about. This is the first page I've created. Just thought I'd have a go and see what happened. I picked this page since I noticed a like to a non-existant page and this was it. Perhaps it was not sufficiently rewritten from the sources but I was surprised that it was deleted as "unsambiguous advertising or promotion". I though I'd be okay on the "noteable" criteria since there are pages for other types of cheese.
Could you give some guidance as to how the page failed this criteria since it seems to me that the information was factual.
Peter Larkins (talk) 09:25, 25 August 2014 (UTC)
- It was deleted for multiple reasons. The first was that it was very promotional, in a tone that was attempting to sell the cheese. The second was that it appeared to have been copied and slightly changed from another page on the internet, making it a copyright violation. Finally, just being cheese does not make it notable. Your article would require multiple 3rd party references to demonstrate notability]]--Jac16888 Talk 16:59, 25 August 2014 (UTC)
Ref desk hatting
Hello, just saw you hatted this post [3] as "trolling" -- can I ask why? Asking questions about movie plots happens a lot on the entertainment desk, and is not usually considered a problem... I was considering undoing the hat, but thought it would be polite to ask you about it first. SemanticMantis (talk) 17:45, 25 August 2014 (UTC)

Text was NOT copyrighted
Jac16888,
why did you delete "The Mugshots" article? I am Mickey of the band and I simply copied parts of our OFFICIAL biography, which is of public domain, on this Wikipedia article! You can fin our biography, written by our friend Mack Maloney on our website, facebook page, reverbnation page, we print it, use it in emails and so on! It is also on our MTV page, that does not mean we are infringing a copyright! It is NOT COPYRIGHTED at all! It is absolutely free! Please let our article be, we need it as we work hard to promote our music and removing The Mugshots from Wikipedia because we "copied" our own biography - completely free of copyright - is grotesque, to say the least!
Thanks for understanding,

Justin Scoggins
I created a page for Justin Scoggins. You deleted the page on 4 November 2013 because the fighter failed WP:NMMA and thus no presumption of notability was provided or established. The fighter has continued to fight and now appears to meet WP:NMMA so I created the page. Since you previously deleted I wanted you to be aware. Also note that the page was twice created and deleted after you deleted it, but those were speedy deletes that appear to pertain to copyright issues. RonSigPi (talk) 22:34, 29 August 2014 (UTC)
History of Mosul
So why can't Mosul have a history page? The city is thousands of years old, and as it stands the article just sort of skims over the history. It could go into much greater detail. --Harizotoh9 (talk) 16:04, 30 August 2014 (UTC)

Draft:Charles Carleton Massey
Hi! I've often seen your "not a copyvio" summary, never before had any reason to question it. But I was surprised to see it on Draft:Charles Carleton Massey, as that appears to be substantially copied from this wiki (Dup det report), which (a) carries no no licence and (b) subject of course to the laws of karma and general muddle-headedness, appears to be licenced under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike licence, which is not acceptable to us. I think that page should go as a G12. Or have I misread something? Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 17:45, 5 September 2014 (UTC)

Hillhacks page removal
Hi
This is regarding the removal of the hillhacks page due to "A7: No explanation of significance (real person/animal/organization/web content/organized event"
The page is an informational page about an organised event. Any information on what would consitute an explanation of significance of the event would be most helpful to updating the page in an appropriate manner.
Thanks

Hi Jac16888, I was reviewing the new page you just deleted on Jill Lane. I had gone to WorldCat to verify and add the books cited. I was in the process of trying to help out a bit when I saw the Jill Lane page was deleted by you. Do you think it possible to work with the new editor who might have copied the citation rather than speedy delete? We need more articles about women and Jill Lane appears to be quite accomplished. I was hoping to help the person. Maybe you can help me. Is there a way to assist before a speedy deletion? Suggestions appreciated.Kmccook (talk) 17:04, 7 September 2014 (UTC)

hi jac12888,
You deleted several of my post regarding the Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics. I represent the institute, I have been working on building a profile on wikipedia. My apologies, for not doing this correctly. I've been learning how to post a wikipedia entry as I go. Please kindly allow me to create an entry regarding the Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics. The content are from our site and will be edited by our editors this week. The URL: HemisphericInstitute.org is the official URL for the institute. and the /hemi directory was created by our IT department, we do not have control over this file structure. I have also created entries for our academic journal, emisferica.org. again this is our official domain name, but again due to restrictions by the University we are affiliated with (NYU) we cannot make changes.
Thank you in advance, and i'm sorry for the mistakes in creating this entry.
Kind regards,

- Everything you created was copy and pasted from the Institute website, which clearly states it is copyrighted, and therefore the pages were copyright violations and had to be deleted. However even if you were to release those website pages to the public domain, your articles would still not acceptable. They were unsourced and they written with a clear promotional tone (as evidenced by your clear conflict of interest). Please follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Your first article, then create an article using the Wikipedia:Articles for creation system so that it can be properly reviewed
hello. why did you delete my article without at least sending me a message on what was wrong with it, so I can correct that? Mokeji (talk) 21:37, 9 September 2014 (UTC)

- Responding to your first reason - I'm puzzled as to the classification of the article as promotional. I have read other articles on Wikipedia that provide information in similar lingua about other events/personalities. How is this article different? Mokeji (talk) 22:01, 9 Septemiber 2014 (UTC)
- If I came across another article as promotional as your, I would delete that too. The fact that you may have seen similarly promotional articles does not justify keeping yours--Jac16888 Talk 22:06, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
- Aren't articles tagged when something is wrong with them to notify the creator that the post needs cleaning up before being deleted if need be? Isn't this supposed to be in keeping with Wikipedia's emphasis on mutual regard among users and proproductive collaboration? Mokeji (talk) 22:55, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
- In some cases yes, however in this case the article was so blatantly promotional that it had no place on Wikipedia, as well being a copyright violation which is also justification for instant deletion. If you want to try again, please do so in your userspace, use WP:AFC and bear in mind WP:NEUTRAL, WP:NOTABILITY and WP:REFERENCES--Jac16888 Talk 23:01, 9 September 2014 (UTC)

- I read this under Wikipedia's NPOV policy - "As a general rule, do not remove sourced information from the encyclopedia solely on the grounds that it seems biased. Instead, try to rewrite the passage or section to achieve a more neutral tone. Biased information can usually be balanced with material cited to other sources to produce a more neutral perspective, so such problems should be fixed when possible through the normal editing process. Remove material only where you have a good reason to believe it misinforms or misleads readers in ways that cannot be addressed by rewriting the passage. The sections below offer specific guidance on common problems." So should this deleted article not have been treated as such? Mokeji (talk) 11:09, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
- You missed the key word in that policy "sourced". Your content was not sourced, therefore it was of no value, and the above does not apply. In addition you are missing the much bigger issue in that the content was copyright protected, therefore keeping it would be breaking the law. Let me be clear, I will not be restoring your article. As I have already said, you are free to write a new one, in your own words, a neutral tone and sources--Jac16888 Talk 12:49, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
- Alright, thank you. I am not requesting for a restoration of the article. I am new here and the deletion raised some concerns for me. My enquiries are for more clarity. Please can you give any specific helpful pointers on what makes for a neutral tone to avoid any article I write again being interpreted as not being so? Mokeji (talk) 13:26, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
- Have a read of WP:NEUTRAL and WP:FIRST. The general idea is you can't write about how great and awesome the subject is, just clear facts and as many references as possible to back them up--Jac16888 Talk 15:12, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

- There are several issues here. The first is that, as you say, you have used the data from your website, your website which clearly states is copyrighted. Therefore we cannot use that content unless it is released to an open licence (meaning anybody in the world can use it). Even if you were to release the content, we still wouldn't want it, as the content you added was blatantly promotional, we need our articles to be neutral, and since you are writing with a clear conflict of interest it is unlikely you would be able to do so. Finally, your article showed little notability, particularly through the use of reliable 3rd party references. If you want to try again, please create the article in your userspace (at User:Mobtaker61/Erbil International Film Festival), in your own neutral, sourced words, then use the WP:AFC to submit it for approval, I will not be restoring the article as it stood.--Jac16888 Talk 22:49, 15 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi Jac, I have tried to make a Wikipedia page twice now for my boss, the President of USF, Paul Fitzgerald, S.J. The page has been deleted twice for copyright infringement. The page we linked to and that was claiming to be copyright infringement comes from Fairfield University, where Fr. Fitzgerald used to work. I have emailed Fairfield University and this is a direct quote from the email we received: All the content that has been uploaded on Fr. Fitzgerald’s behalf has been cleared with the publisher and we have their permission to include that full text content. In an attempt to alleviate the copyright concerns that Wikipedia appears to have, I have edited each of the entries to include a copyright statement that includes the statement, “Archived here with permission from the copyright holder.”
How can I get this page back up or at least prevent it from being deleted again? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mmmcgovern (talk • contribs) 23:42, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
- First of all, you should not be writing about your boss at all, since you have a clear conflict of interest. Your say so is not enough to clear copyright, the content needs to be legally released (to the whole world, not just Wikipedia) using our WP:OTRS system.--Jac16888 Talk 16:28, 3 October 2014 (UTC)

Okay that is odd-I don't know how I put a prod on that article that apparently did have refs unless if someone vandalized it before hand. I don't know what to say! Wgolf (talk) 17:42, 3 October 2014 (UTC)

Hi Jac16888, could you let me know what does it mean "No explanation of significance (real person/animal/organization/web content/organized event". Age of Warriors is a iOS GAME, and it's notable. Atrenta
Hi Jack, I have been adding an article on Atrenta. Atrenta is an important player in the EDA industry. See the list of companies here: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/List_of_EDA_companies - most of these companies have a page on wikipedia. I therefore request that you do not delete the page on Atrenta since many users are looking for this company for the value it adds to the EDA ecosystem. It is NOT an advertising. Atrenta and its product SpyGlass have already been mentioned on some of the pages as below.
Thanks

Hello Sir,
you asked me why I`m deleting all the links....- All Links were not right, they all were not correct. Most of them also broken with old informations. I`m just doing all in a new form. I need almost 3-4 Hours and than I`ll be done and the page is fixed with the newest update.
So please let me go on with all. When I saw the page I had a shock. What happened with that all? I had never problems with the page. It looks like they wants to delete it. That would be very bad and I never let them do that. Thats not okay, when your page is going to be deledet after 18 Months. I have lots of people around me and they also liked the wikipedia Page on Facebook! There are almost about 140000 Fans on. If someone delete the page, I will lost all of them. So, let me know, if I can go n with the update, Sir.

When I searched for Harris Isbell and found that there wasn't a page, I decided I wanted to create one. It would primarily be an objective page focussed on a review of his research (I have a PhD in a related area, and have read and cited his articles before). However, I see you deleted a page, so I wanted to check on why that was. (BTW, this is my first interaction with Wikipedia other than as a user).

Mlemos (talk) 01:53, 11 November 2014 (UTC)
- The page was deleted due to the fact it did not demonstrate the "notability" of the subject. I've no doubt the page is important to you and many others but the same could be send for thousands if not millions of other websites that are only important to the people who use them. To demonstrate notability you need to have reliable, 3rd party references which discuss the subject, so for example you mention multiple facts you feel make the site notable, if you had news articles or something similar discussing that, then perhaps an article could stand. Take a look at the articles for some other websites for an idea of what I mean.--Jac16888 Talk 21:23, 11 November 2014 (UTC)
Yes, I think I see what you mean. I agree it is a fair principle. I am sure there are external references that can be mentioned to justify notability, like for instance the following page in the Gamification base site. What do you think? Is this suitable? If so, what shall I do next? Is it possible to recover the deleted page so I can update it with more up to date references and notable facts?

Hi! As a courtesy, I wanted to let you know that I've contradicted you somewhat by rewriting the stubs at Moxlie Creek and Indian Creek (Olympia) during the process of reviewing articles at WP:SCV. Both articles were copied nearly verbatim (especially the latter) from http://olympiawa.gov/city-utilities/storm-and-surface-water/streams-and-shorelines. Open Broadcaster Software
Hello Jac16888,
Last year you flagged the article on Open Broadcaster Software for deletion and ended up moving it to the creator's talk page: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:Voxletum/Open_Broadcaster_Software At the time the software was relatively new and unknown so that was fine, but it has continued to grow and gain popularity since then, and I believe at this point is is noteworthy enough to be reinstated as an article. Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) is commonly used to stream on Twitch, a website which is the 4th largest source of internet traffic in the US as of earlier this year.[1] If you visit Twitch's help section http://help.twitch.tv/customer/portal/topics/358640-broadcast-hardware-and-software/articles they have various articles (presumably sorted in order of popularity/importance) and the article on OBS in the 3rd one listed. If one of the largest websites in the US acknowledges OBS as a standard streaming application I feel that that is sufficient evidence of it's noteworthiness. Additionally, the official OBS twitter account has 22k followers. https://twitter.com/OBSProject
In light of that, do you think this article could be reinstated? I'm still a relatively new editor, so I don't know what the exact criteria for something to be noteworthy is, so if you feel additional evidence is needed I would be happy to go hunt for more evidence until you are satisfied that this program is noteworthy enough to have its own article.
Thanks! CurlyWi (talk) 02:54, 21 November 2014 (UTC)

Cantemus is first of all a latin word
Hi, I wonder what people expect when they find an article on "Cantemus". Well, those that are friends of an association with that name, will be glad to see their association here. But all the others expect maybe a more general approach. Maybe starting with an explanation of the word itself. Then, my idea was to supply a list over all choirs with that name I could find via google. The current article version covers only one choir with intermediate international relevance, and that is not optimal. An Article about e.g. "Paris" that only covers Paris Hilton and is silent about the capitol of France should be called silly, shouldn't it? Brmf (talk) 05:35, 22 November 2014 (UTC)
- Firstly please see WP:NOTDIR, Wikipedia is not a directory, we don't list every single instance of a name. However that was not the reason I reverted you. To follow your example, if you actually look up Paris, you see that it is an article about the city, and only the city, we then have other pages about other subjects with the name Paris. We do not have one article called Paris which covers every single piece of information about every single entity named Paris--Jac16888 Talk 18:16, 22 November 2014 (UTC)
The situation with Paris is much easier. The vast majority agrees that the most important meaning of Paris is the capitol of France. When someone picks up "Paris" in a conversation and searches Wikipedia to learn more about it, it is likely he hits the right page at once. When someone picks up "Cantemus" it is likely that the Lihuanian choir is not that he was looking for. That's why I think, the Cantemus-page should be a kind of disambiguation page, and the article about the Lithuanian choir should be renamed to Cantemus(Vilnius) or Cantemus(Lithuania). I can agree if we list only the, say, 5 bigger choirs in the disambiguation page, and I write an article about Cantemus(Stockholm). Could this be okay with you? translate
What's up with this? – JBarta (talk) 21:43, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
- Someone added a big block of untranslated text, standard procedure is to restore the article back to its translated self--Jac16888 Talk 22:22, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
- Then why do we have translate tags? And where is this standard procedure documented? – JBarta (talk) 23:25, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
- For that purpose, and for somebody at WP:PNT to see and deal with it as quickly as possible, sometimes that means translation and sometimes it is removal--Jac16888 Talk 23:36, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
- At this point your choice to remove it seems arbitrary to me. Help me to understand. In what circumstance is text in an article translated and in what circumstance is it simply removed? If you can point to guidelines covering this and from which you made your choice, it would be appreciated. – JBarta (talk) 23:43, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
- The purpose of PNT is to clear untranslated content as quickly and efficiently as possible, this content is problematic and PNT is not a translation service. Non-english content occurs in two ways. In the case of an entire new article it is either translated, deleted, or turned into a stub. In the case of content being added to an existing article, most of the time it is removed, particularly in cases such as this where the content has sat like that for 6 months. Wikpedia has a procedure for adding translated content (WP:TRANSLATION) using the Expand Language tags--Jac16888 Talk 00:18, 10 December 2014 (UTC)
- I'm still unclear (why I'm having a hard time understanding this I don't know). The closest I can come to an understanding of your actions and WP:Translation is that Wikipedia only wants to translate material that already exists on another language wiki. If someone contributes a block of non-English text directly into an article (either from some other location or their own prose) you would just prefer to delete it. If that's the case I'm not sure I entirely agree, but so be it. – JBarta (talk) 16:20, 10 December 2014 (UTC)
- That is almost the case. PNT is not a translation system, like AIV/RFPP/UFAA/etc it exists to solve a specific problem in the most efficient and appropriate way possible. It that is to remove the content, that is what we do, the content is still in the history if an interested editor wishes to translate it, but it does not benefit the project to remain visible--Jac16888 Talk 17:39, 10 December 2014 (UTC)
- You say that leaving foreign text in the article does the project no good. I would argue that removing it does even less good. You say the foreign text is still in the history, but for all practical purposes that doesn't matter because it's unlikely to be noticed there. If however it remains visible and a "Needs Translation" tag is put on it, especially if that tag is listed with other articles with such tags in some central location, then it stands a reasonable chance of not only being noticed, but actually getting translated at some point and becoming part of the article. Of course you might fall back on "I don't make guidelines, I just follow them", but being a person familiar with translation topics in Wikipedia, if you're ever in a discussion concerning those guidelines, maybe you'll consider forwarding these points I've made. – JBarta (talk) 18:40, 10 December 2014 (UTC)
