Thankyou so so much for helping me untangle this situation. You are an amazing human and I hope for you to get amazing blessings forever. You are a one in a kind human and I do hope for the best. EurovisionNim (talk to me)(see my edits) 13:06, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply] |
- Thank you for this. I am really not sure what happened over there. I figured that your topic ban was never meant to be permanent based on the discussion. I have not gone through the history and figured out how it went so badly. HighInBC Need help? Just ask. 21:37, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- Okay I read over the discussion and the various links. I cannot escape the conclusion that you wanted to be blocked. Good luck. HighInBC Need help? Just ask. 21:55, 14 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Wondering if it's time to get access back to the Future Nostalgia talk page. I keep thinking about * Jeff Bhasker , Jason Evigan , SG Lewis , * Lindgren maybe not getting the credit they deserve were it not for this edit https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Future_Nostalgia&diff=1019866700&oldid=1019866379 . I believe a lot of fixation was placed on an irrelevant producer's listing in one particular section of the remix album, whose big hit was Levitating Feat DaBaby. The wording on the original rfc was "For this rfc, we are hoping to reach a consensus on whether Tainy should be listed as a producer for Future Nostalgia: The Moonlight Edition" and then "To add to what LOVI33 said, we are looking for a consensus as to if Tainy and J Balvin both deserve equal producer credits for the song "Un Dia (One Day)" (track 19 of The Moonlight Edition) or not. Please see the above section for more info. Thanks!" was the thing read by the herd. And yet I was the only vote that read the rfc. It asked if he should be listed.. He's already credited several times in the article. Doesn't make sense that I can't keep talking on an article talk page. Thank you! Sucker for All (talk) 03:31, 15 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- I think this is best discussed with @Valereee:. It is their block, and I have already reviewed it and found it to be reasonable. HighInBC Need help? Just ask. 03:33, 15 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, apologies for the random message. I'm still learning the ropes as an admin, and would really appreciate your opinion on a block. Today I blocked user Sirenanglaot indefinitely for making unreferenced changes to some BLPs, following a report made at the AIV. I noticed later that they wrote on their talk page that they were related to the subjects whose articles they were editing, and wanted to "correct" some information which they stated were wrong. I reduced the indefinite site-wide block to an indefinite p-block, restricting them only from those pages, so that they can discuss the changes on the talk pages of articles as well as on other noticeboards. I would like to know if it was right for me to make the indefinite block or should the block length be reduced? Apologies if I messed up or if you think this is a silly question but I would like another opinion on this action. --Ashleyyoursmile! 09:55, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- No problem, I am always happy to help. I will take a look now and then ping you when I am done. HighInBC Need help? Just ask. 10:03, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- I think you have handled it well. Some more guidance to the user about why they were blocked, about conflict of interest, and how to point out poor sourcing or new sourcing on the talk page would be helpful. Also you forgot to sign. Overall I think it is a good strategy. Be sure to keep an eye on them to see if they are playing nicely with the other editors. HighInBC Need help? Just ask. 10:10, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

He doesn't think he's made any edit that deserves an AgF warning. Heck, when I gave it to him I hadn't even seen " Ian, once we can get you to stop practicing pseudo journalism and academia to review new evidence clearly contradicting old dominate theories with your authority to "edit" this page to exclude any reference to "pseudo" anything in regards to Hancocks reputable journalistic review of peer reviewed evidence and what that evidence might imply regarding human civilization prior to the last glacial maximum. Make the edit, or you are absolutely impervious to fact". I think I need to point out to him that sanctions apply to talk page comments as well. Doug Weller talk 13:36, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- My intial plan what that I was 1 step from blocking him from the article and another step from an indef. I was not aware of the DS in that topic, now I suppose my first step is a topic ban if it continues. I have seen this exact personality too many times here. They have not edited since but I have their page on my watchlist. HighInBC Need help? Just ask. 22:11, 20 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe I crossed paths or swords with Ncmvocalist in an AFD at some point. Robert McClenon (talk) 03:55, 21 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- I would not worry about it. I won't speak to motive, but I don't see any real basis in their complaint against you. HighInBC Need help? Just ask. 03:57, 21 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- BTW if you ever did want to run for admin I would support you as a nominator. HighInBC Need help? Just ask. 03:58, 21 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- I ran for admin in 2005, and it was too soon, and in 2014 (I think 2014). I am not quite sure why that didn't work. However, I am definitely ready to run for admin again. I was about to have User:Lourdes nominate me, but it seems that she has retired from Wikipedia. So, yes, I am ready. Robert McClenon (talk) 18:04, 21 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- Well if you want to proceed you can e-mail me to coordinate. I would write a statement that addresses the various concerns in your 2017 RfA, I feel that is the one people will be looking at. Mostly in regard to your understanding of the deletion policies. HighInBC Need help? Just ask. 07:04, 22 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

- Yes, I almost missed the connection, thankfully the real deal pointed it out. When I do these sort of WP:DUCK blocks, should I be opening an SPI to get the attention of the friendly neighborhood CUs? I don't have a lot of experience filing SPIs, perhaps I should become more familiar with the process. HighInBC Need help? Just ask. 12:17, 21 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- Thanks guys. I had a user with dynamic IP following me around and harassing me for month some years back. It was no fun. Skyerise (talk) 14:29, 21 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! After a few days, vandalism by IP editors will hopefully have reduced, as off-wiki discussion has quieted down. I'd say that talk page protection is no longer justified unless the issue reoccurs. Article (Palmer Report) page semi-protection is likely still needed, though. Hopefully Bill Palmer and his band of acolytes are done with their empty threats to sue Wikipedia out of existence. Ganesha811 (talk) 21:41, 21 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- I do not share your optimism in this case. I am inclined to allow it to expire and see what happens then. The article and talk page has seen a surge in productivity since the protection was put in place. HighInBC Need help? Just ask. 07:01, 22 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- HighInBC, fair enough, it's not a big deal in the end. Ganesha811 (talk) 03:07, 23 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@HighinBC - Many thanks for your help in the Teahouse re a possible VPN IP block. It doesn't appear to be an issue any longer, if it ever was. Appreciate your photos of and love for BC too. The user has continued to ignore policy surrounding declined unblock requests not being allowed to be removed. Serious enough to TPA revoke? Lavalizard101 (talk) 11:07, 28 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes I saw that. It is not worth making a fuss about unless they make another unblock request. I am just ignoring them. HighInBC Need help? Just ask. 11:12, 28 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
