Indonesian dishes

[edit]

Hello, Pak Gunkarta. I think you have many contributions to Indonesian related articles especially Indonesian dishes. I am interested in improving some articles but I'm troubled when it comes to search the reference. Do you know any books or good websites about Indonesian dishes? Regards. Indonesian martial arts

[edit]

Just wanted to mention that I am so glad you created an article for Indonesian martial arts. Too often, Indonesia's martial heritage is seen as silat and nothing else. We really needed an article which includes all the fighting styles found throughout the country. I'll get to work on putting those into the article shortly. Cheers. Morinae (talk) 17:23, 20 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for your contribution to Alcohol in Indonesia. You added "History" section with "no sources" attached to it. Kindly add sources to your addition or it will get removed. I have just created that article, I will quick search for sources but I will not go deep into it. Article is nominated and approved in WP:DYK and may feature on main page of Wikipedia, so any unsourced addition will be removed, so please provide citations within some time or I will remove it if I don't find citations in my quick search. Thank you. --Human3015TALK  06:54, 5 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Done adding refs, you're welcome. Cheers! Gunkarta  talk  08:43, 5 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Martial arts template

[edit]

It seemed silly to have both Indochina and Indonesian in the same line - but I must admit that I mis-read Indochina as Indonesian and thought it had been posted twice. The general rule is that articles must be C-class and up which Indochina is not but I have also just promoted the Indonesian to C. It is not necessary to have all country specific martial arts listed in the template. If we keep Indonesia (which I am not against) we need to delete Indochina.Peter Rehse (talk) 10:52, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I see.., thank you for your confirmation and thank you on promoting Indonesian martial arts to c class. I do hope Indonesian martial would stay in the template. Greatly appreciated. Gunkarta  talk  11:04, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Indonesia–Malaysia relations. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. JQTriple7 (talk) 07:01, 17 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi Gunkarta, can you add references to Aviation in Indonesia? Each para should have at least one reference, I am currently busy, also I am not finding much sources. You may find it in Indonesian language and other Indonesian newspapers that you know. If you add references to each para then it will feature on main page. So please be quick. You create nice articles but you don't add much references to your work. You should add reference to each claim in article at the end of sentence. I think you should be quick on Aviation in Indonesia, otherwise this DYK nomination will get closed. I can prepare article Aviation in Indonesia for DYK within half hour, I just have to remove all unsourced matter and still sourced matter more than 1500 characters remains. But instead of removing things that you wrote it will be better to add sources for them. --Human3015TALK  07:31, 6 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

perlahan lahan, kalau saya coba ingat dalam bhs indonesia, sedikit pulang ke kepala saya, terlalu lama di luar dari Jawa. Tetapi kalau saya coba menulis dalam inggeris, terlalu banyak lupa. When I try to edit article about Indonesia in english, there are many many small bits. I am sorry I am unable to concentrate to go through it all in one edit, I need to come and go from it. Suman (food)

[edit]

Hello, seem you have many contributions to Indonesian related articles especially Indonesian foods. I think you are the right person for me to get an opinions. In the Philippines, we have dishes named Suman (food). So I want to ask about our Suman (food) is adopted or variation from Indonesians Lontong? I hope you can contribute in Suman (food) article. Greetings from Philippines.

Magbantay (talk) 17:18, 12 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, mabuhayǃ thank you for your interest on our common cuisine. I think Suman is more similar or closely related to Indonesian lepet than lontong. I don't know weather the suman was adopted from lontong or not. But I think they are a common Austronesian rice cake, and probably suman is related to lepet. Gunkarta  talk  08:09, 12 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Again,food fight

[edit]

Hi,actually i don't want food fighting anymore. Tell me,what can make you satisfy? Re-structure Singaporean cuisine by remove some Indonesian food? If i make it for you, please don't involve anymore in editing Singaporean food unless if it related to Indonesian food. I think it's fair enough. Let bygones be bygones. Now i try to construct all the food in Singapore cuisine. Many more foods that's created in Singapore. But, i try to avoid put in conflict dishes into Singaporean Cuisine section. Anyway, thank you because remind me for that's thing. Just what said,i try to minimize conflict dishes among neighboring countries,Indonesia and Malaysia.Lee788 (talk) 20:17, 20 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Again, this is not a food fight. Just want to make things clear about what makes a dish Singaporean cuisine. Request reason:

Sorry.., I was not meant to breach any copyright violations, it was not my intention. It was orginally meant as a direct quotations taken from news about recent South China Sea disputes. Since some of them are some political position of some government officials, I thought the quotation should be verbatim, exactly the same as it was written on news to avoid misconception. I guess I'm overdoing it by including too much materials from the news. I'm really sorry if I had breach the copyright policy. Now that I've learn my mistake, I will be careful on searching and including sources, and on how to write it down, and how to present it in the future. Please consider to kindly unblock me. Gunkarta  talk  21:12, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

After repeated warnings which you always answered with "Sorry, now I understand", just to continue copy-pasting, this is not enough. I know you mainly from food-related articles. You will be sorely missed. Unblock appeal

[edit]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who accepted the request.

Gunkarta (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

Please reconsider my unblock request by examining my other editing records; such as my other contributions in other subjects; like food, history and Indonesia-related articles for all this years. As testified by other fellow editors, I have done some good and productive things. I had, might and could be a valuable member of wikipedia community if given another chance. Compared to total of my other contributions, my latest copyrights breaking edits was an unintentional accident. Honestly, there is no ill-intention in my behalf to do damage or disruptive editing by breaking copyrights rule. It was started as an innocent effort to add new materials, through direct quotation, mostly from news, regarding a currently hot issue; like South China Sea dispute. But then, I got carried away by copying too many copyrighted news materials. Now that I've learned the copyrights rule the hard way, I've learned my lesson. I certainly will not do it again and will be very careful to treat copyrights issues very seriously. I really wish to continue to make some productive contributions for wikipedia. I feel really bad, and it is a shame if after nine years and nine months of editing and contributing, this could be the end of my journey on contributing to wikipedia. I think indefinite block is too harsh and unnecesary. Please give me another chance and reconsider my appeal. Thank you... Gunkarta talk 04:07, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

I am unblocking your account, because you say you understand our copyright policy and state you intend to follow it in the future. Further copyright violations will result in you being re-blocked. — Diannaa (talk) 14:08, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm inclined to think that an indefinite block for a user who's never been blocked before and has been on the wiki as long as they have might be excessive. I don't want to unilaterally overturn the original admin's decision, so I'll ping @Diannaa:. Copyright violations are immensely serious and a preventive step is necessary, though I'm not yet convinced this editor is so beyond saving they must be indef blocked. Would you be opposed if I adjusted the block to one month, to give time for the editor to learn about the policy. At that point, if there's further abuse, I would support an indef block. Thoughts? -- Lord Roem ~ (talk) 07:03, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The reason we started using indef block is because if we do it that way the editor cannot resume editing until they provide us with a clear statement that demonstrates that they have read and understand our copyright policy and intend to follow it in the future. There's been many people who simply resume what they were doing, to the detriment of the encyclopedia. Copyright is a very serious issue on this wiki and this is one of the ways we are trying to control it. Sorry if that seems harsh. — Diannaa (talk) 14:08, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Diannaa:, thanks for the response. I absolutely understand where you're coming from and I completely agree about the seriousness of the issue. This is/was just one of those times where I was on the fence. I would strongly advise the editor to brush up on the policy; no further excuses for any blatant copyvios. If you have any doubts, err on the safe side. You can always contact Diannaa, me, or another admin if you have questions on this subject. Wishing everyone the best, Lord Roem ~ (talk) 14:12, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Dianaa for your trust in me by unblocking my account; I will be really careful on copyrights issue from now on. Comments re this user

[edit]

As a regular and consistent contributor to the Indonesian project, Gunkarta is probably one of the last remaining regular native speaking Indonesia editors that the project has with a broad interest and capacity to ed it and work in the full range of Indonesian topics.

I do not think from my 10 years of editing in Indonesian subject areas has there been another editor like Gunkarta in being able to sustain a positive attitude to editing through thick and thin. We have had many short term editors who have been and gone, but Gunkarta has remained regardless of the weather, so to speak.

[1] - the Indonesian project on wp en has had a very difficult time in sustaining in-country native speakers who last more than a foray into bad english and lists of things, this editor has, by all standards raised the standards of articles and material more than most non-Indonesian editors who have ventured into working on the project. To take any one aspect of an editors behaviour as the simple device to indef block, I believe that the risk taken in simply focusing on one aspect is of considerable damage to the Indonesian project on the basis of a limted view.

Maybe projects per se are passe (the level of maintenance on some is pitiful) in some editors minds, but for others, long standing commitment and endurance to projects imho should account for more than a lockout as this particular action entails.

If it were up to the project to determine an editors status, I do not think that someone with such dedication and long term benefit to the project and wikipedia would achieve the current status. I can think of some particularly destructive and very damaging editors who have wreaked havoc unrepentantly upon wikipedia who have been given less stringent sanctions. JarrahTree 07:26, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

To the editors/admins who have reviewed the case above, a gracias, terimah kasih, shukran - or simply thank you on behalf of the Indonesian project, and it is hoped that the issue is something in the past. JarrahTree 14:30, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

[edit]

Hello, Gunkarta. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. Ukondafu Kazufusa

[edit]

Hello Gunkarta. An editor has changed the subject's name used within Ukondafu Kazufusa to "Ukondayu". The majority of book sources do seem to support this spelling, so as you created the article about a year ago could I ask if you think the page title should be changed: Noyster (talk), 00:08, 18 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your notification Noyster, I think you're right, I've moved the page to Ukondayu Kazufusa, cheers. Gunkarta  talk  15:34, 18 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Mataram Sultanate in Sultan Agung Reign

Hi, Pak Gunkarta. Just wondering, might you be interested in adding another version of File:Mataram Sultanate in Sultan Agung Reign.svg, in which the pre-1617 territories and the territories conquered by Sultan Agung have the same color? That way, we can use the map to talk about Mataram territories in general without being in context of Sultan Agung's conquest. For example, we can use it to say, "This is the territories inherited by Amangkurat I", because in this context it doesn't make sense to distinguish which one is pre- or post-1617. Similar to, for example, how File:Banten Sultanate en.svg can be used. What do you think? Thanks! HaEr48 (talk) 23:19, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, what do you think? HaEr48 (talk) 21:24, 9 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I'm too lazy to change the map and not interested to change it for the moment. The map was meant to demonstrate Sultan Agung conquest and to distinguished the "true" Mataram area of Javanese heartland (dark orange) which was Mataram with the remnant of Pajang and Demak also Banyumasan (or in Indonesian called "Kawasan berbudaya Mataraman"), in contrast to other distinct areas (culturally and ethnically), such as Priangan, Cirebon, Surabaya, Malang and Madura, which was colonized areas ("daerah jajahan"). Gunkarta  talk  21:39, 9 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the explanation, and understood that you're not keen on taking extra work for another version of the map. I'm looking for a better map to use in Trunajaya_rebellion#Background, which I am nominating as GA, do you know of a more appropriate map? Otherwise probably it's time for me to learn some SVG editing, hehehe. HaEr48 (talk) 22:11, 9 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

History of Southeast Asia

[edit]

Hi! Thank you very much for your cooperation. As you might have noticed, i have recently made a lot of edits. I am aware, that i might also have removed some of your edits - sorry for that, but i think that many sections in the article were too prosaic and of little or no relevance, unnecessarily detailed and mostly un-referenced. I know, the article is a very complex and difficult subject. Still, we have to focus on the essential facts and maintain consistency. However, i love to work in a team and highly appreciate and look forward to your future contributions. Please don't be offended, when i improve the style of your edits. Contact me, when you have ideas, questions and critique. Let's be constructive. All the best Wikirictor 07:55, 12 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

No problem Wikirictor, I understand that it is better to be direct, short and concise, especially in wide-ranged subject like the History of Southeast Asia. I think you're doing a great work on this article. Keep up the good workǃ Cheers. Gunkarta  talk  08:06, 12 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, mate! As i said earlier, i'd love to work together and hope you keep stuff coming. I think you have lots of knowledge. BTW, i really like your maps at Commons - very aesthetic. All the best Wikirictor 08:31, 12 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Why delete when you could have marked "unreferenced"? Cobanyastigi (talk) 15:19, 27 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Why don't you try to find some source/reference to support your edit and try again. Your edit is bordering speculation and sounds like original research. Gunkarta  talk  16:21, 27 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Srivijaya

[edit]

Hi! I'm not a frequent Wikipedia person, so this is just to tell you that I'm making use of your nice Srivijayan Empire graphic at a talk I'm giving in Singapore. I will be attributing that graphic in the notes pages. Thanks for your good work! Brythain (talk) 05:13, 8 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome, glad to be of service. I hope you don't mind I've moved your comment from my user page to my talk page. ː) Cheers..ǃ Gunkarta  talk  12:23, 8 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
