Philip Benwell
Hi @GrayStorm,
Thank you for your edit in reverting the unconstructive edit made by editor, 220.235.45.49. I am asking for your opinion on the matter regarding the claimed ‘fraudulent content’ in the section of the Benwell article that details his alleged controversy that was written by a verified source, The Sydney Morning Herald. Essentially, do you think it is an appropriate edit or should it be reverted again? Thank you for your time.

"Suspended Adjunct Professor" is NOT an occupation; it reads more like a slur--a BLP violation. Plus, you're citing the Hindustan Times for something in NYC? Drmies (talk) 18:17, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
- I was acting in good faith. I acknowledge that I made a mistake and will be more careful making edits in the future. GrayStormTalk Contributions 18:50, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
- Also, I reverted the edit because it was in violation of WP:NPOV by claiming his suspension was unjust. The sources issue has since been resolved. Also, hiow is "Suspended Adjunct Professor" a slur??? GrayStormTalk Contributions 18:53, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
- "Suspended" is a bit of a black eye, don't you think? And, eh, is it part of someone's job to be suspended? Drmies (talk) 19:53, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
- I don't no what you mean by "a black eye" but i do agree that it is not part of someone's job. However it does seem relevant. Perhaps it could be written as "Adjunct Professor (Suspended)". GrayStormTalk Contributions 21:59, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Drmies: I am cleaning up my talk page by archiving old discussions. I intentionally did not archive this disscution dispite it being nearly a month old, because of your lack of response to my most recent question in this thread. I also wanted to say that your remarks towards me came off as condescending with how they were phrased. I agree that being suspended isn't part of someones job, but I don't see how it is a slur. I am saying all of the not so ass to attack you, but so that we can get any misunderstanding cleared up. Regards, GrayStorm(Talk|Contributions) 02:39, 28 February 2024 (UTC).
- I didn't see there was a response. "Suspended professor" is not something you should put in an infobox for the parameter "profession". Of course it's a black eye: you're saying "he's a professor BUT HE GOT SUSPENDED, haha". That's what I mean with slur, and I think that if this was discussed on BLPN it would not be allowed to stand. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 02:57, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Drmies:I'm sorry, but, who is
readyreading suspended professor as "THIS GUY GOT SUSPENDED HAHA"? I don't think that many people would think you were mocking someone if you said they were a suspended professor, unless your tone specifically indicated you were making fun of the, which was not the case. If you could elaborate further on how including a fact is a "black eye" (still don't fully understand what you mean by that term) that would be greatly appreciated. Also, I just wanted to make you aware that the word "slur" has a different usage than the way you are using it. Usually, slur refers to a derogatory word used on a minority. Regards GrayStorm(Talk|Contributions) 03:09, 28 February 2024 (UTC).- Sorry, but that's just ridiculous. Your wording indicates that well enough. Please don't lecture me on what this or that word means (and you're wrong: "an insinuation or allegation about someone that is likely to insult them or damage their reputation", which is exactly what you were doing) when you cannot see that "suspended professor" is something completely different from "professor". Oh, when you fix typos in order to ping someone, you should sign again, or the ping doesn't work. Now go ahead and archive this. Drmies (talk) 13:44, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
- Wait: you warned a user for "controversial information about a living person"--how was this "controversial"? "Dheu i Bardh" is indeed a neighborhood in Gjilan--is that a bad thing to say? Yes it's unreferenced; no, it does not deserve a BLP-related warning. Drmies (talk) 13:50, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

Rollback granted for 3 months
Hi GrayStorm. After reviewing your request, I have temporarily enabled rollback on your account until 04:34, 16 May 2024. Please keep the following things in mind while using rollback:
- Being granted rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle or Ultraviolet. It just adds a [Rollback] button next to a page's latest live revision - that's all. It does not grant you any additional "status" on Wikipedia, nor does it change how Wikipedia policies apply to you.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear and unambiguous cases of vandalism only. Never use rollback to revert good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war, and it should never be used in a content-related dispute to restore the page to your preferred revision. If rollback is abused or used for this purpose or any other inappropriate purpose, the rights will be revoked.
- Use common sense. If you're not sure about something, ask!
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 04:37, 16 February 2024 (UTC)
I did put a note when I deleted the 2010 census information. I assumed it was understood that it was irrelevant since the 2020 info was on the page and I can't see a reason both census summaries need to be on the wiki page. If a user is interested in previous census information, they can refer to the citations. CLEhobbit (talk) 19:40, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
- I reverted your edit because your edit summary did not explain why you removed the content. In the future an edit summary explaining why the content was removed would be helpful, thanks! GrayStorm(Talk|Contributions) 19:44, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
- Okay, I understand, thank you! Do you agree it should be removed, or should I put it up for debate in the talk page? CLEhobbit (talk) 19:51, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
- It should be discussed on the talk page. GrayStorm(Talk|Contributions) 19:52, 20 February 2024 (UTC)

RFA2024 update: no longer accepting new proposals in phase I
Hey there! This is to let you know that phase I of the 2024 requests for adminship (RfA) review is now no longer accepting new proposals. Lots of proposals remain open for discussion, and the current round of review looks to be on a good track towards making significant progress towards improving RfA's structure and environment. I'd like to give my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has given us their idea for change to make RfA better, and the same to everyone who has given the necessary feedback to improve those ideas. The following proposals remain open for discussion:
- Proposal 2, initiated by HouseBlaster, provides for the addition of a text box at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship reminding all editors of our policies and enforcement mechanisms around decorum.
- Proposals 3 and 3b, initiated by Barkeep49 and Usedtobecool, respectively, provide for trials of discussion-only periods at RfA. The first would add three extra discussion-only days to the beginning, while the second would convert the first two days to discussion-only.
- Proposal 5, initiated by SilkTork, provides for a trial of RfAs without threaded discussion in the voting sections.
- Proposals 6c and 6d, initiated by BilledMammal, provide for allowing users to be selected as provisional admins for a limited time through various concrete selection criteria and smaller-scale vetting.
- Proposal 7, initiated by Lee Vilenski, provides for the "General discussion" section being broken up with section headings.
- Proposal 9b, initiated by Reaper Eternal, provides for the requirement that allegations of policy violation be substantiated with appropriate links to where the alleged misconduct occured.
- Proposals 12c, 21, and 21b, initiated by City of Silver, Ritchie333, and HouseBlaster, respectively, provide for reducing the discretionary zone, which currently extends from 65% to 75%. The first would reduce it 65%–70%, the second would reduce it to 50%–66%, and the third would reduce it to 60%–70%.
- Proposal 13, initiated by Novem Lingaue, provides for periodic, privately balloted admin elections.
- Proposal 14, initiated by Kusma, provides for the creation of some minimum suffrage requirements to cast a vote.
- Proposals 16 and 16c, initiated by Thebiguglyalien and Soni, respectively, provide for community-based admin desysop procedures. 16 would desysop where consensus is established in favor at the administrators' noticeboard; 16c would allow a petition to force reconfirmation.
- Proposal 16e, initiated by BilledMammal, would extend the recall procedures of 16 to bureaucrats.
- Proposal 17, initiated by SchroCat, provides for "on-call" admins and 'crats to monitor RfAs for decorum.
- Proposal 18, initiated by theleekycauldron, provides for lowering the RfB target from 85% to 75%.
- Proposal 24, initiated by SportingFlyer, provides for a more robust alternate version of the optional candidate poll.
- Proposal 25, initiated by Femke, provides for the requirement that nominees be extended-confirmed in addition to their nominators.
- Proposal 27, initiated by WereSpielChequers, provides for the creation of a training course for admin hopefuls, as well as periodic retraining to keep admins from drifting out of sync with community norms.
- Proposal 28, initiated by HouseBlaster, tightens restrictions on multi-part questions.
To read proposals that were closed as unsuccessful, please see Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/2024 review/Phase I/Closed proposals. You are cordially invited once again to participate in the open discussions; when phase I ends, phase II will review the outcomes of trial proposals and refine the implementation details of other proposals. Another notification will be sent out when this phase begins, likely with the first successful close of a major proposal. Happy editing! theleekycauldron (talk • she/her), via:

RFA2024 update: phase I concluded, phase II begins
Hi there! Phase I of the Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/2024 review has concluded, with several impactful changes gaining community consensus and proceeding to various stages of implementation. Some proposals will be implemented in full outright; others will be discussed at phase II before being implemented; and still others will proceed on a trial basis before being brought to phase II. The following proposals have gained consensus:
- Proposals 2 and 9b (phase II discussion): Add a reminder of civility norms at RfA and Require links for claims of specific policy violations
- Proposal 3b (in trial): Make the first two days discussion-only
- Proposal 13 (in trial): Admin elections
- Proposal 14 (implemented): Suffrage requirements
- Proposals 16 and 16c (phase II discussion): Allow the community to initiate recall RfAs and Community recall process based on dewiki
- Proposal 17 (phase II discussion): Have named Admins/crats to monitor infractions
- Proposal 24 (phase II discussion): Provide better mentoring for becoming an admin and the RfA process
- Proposal 25 (implemented): Require nominees to be extended confirmed
See the project page for a full list of proposals and their outcomes. A huge thank-you to everyone who has participated so far :) looking forward to seeing lots of hard work become a reality in phase II. theleekycauldron (talk), via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 08:09, 5 May 2024 (UTC)

Hello, I was wondering how can I publish a public Wikipedia page ? --Shaquillo (talk) 22:42, 8 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hello. If you are autoconfirmed then you can use the tool onWikipedia:How to create a page. If you are not autoconfirmed, then you can submit your article through articles for creation. However it seems like you are creating an autobiography, which is very strongly discouraged. If you choose to create this page anyway, you have to declare it and should submit it through articles for creation, regardless of your accounts permissions. For more info see WP:AUTO. Happy editing! Question from VictarisGX (03:44, 9 May 2024)
Can you advise in how I can add to the History section of the Utah Teapot, please? Specifically, how the Amazing Digital Circus depicts it in the latest episode? Thank you. --VictarisGX (talk) 03:44, 9 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hello! Having looked at the article, it seems like what your mentioning would be more suited to the appearances section. As for the actual text, you could say something like "In 2024, the teapot appeared in episode 2 of The Amazing Digital Circus". You can add links to other wikipedia articles by using square brackets when editing. So
[[Example]]
becomes Example. GrayStorm(talk|stalk me) 14:32, 9 May 2024 (UTC)

hey is possible to write article about myself thank you --Tchusca Songo (talk) 11:07, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hello. You can do this, but it is very strongly discouraged. If you do decide to write an article about yourself, you must declare that you have a conflict of intrest with the article. It is also recomended that you sumbit the article to articles for creation, instead of creating it directly. For more info, see WP:AUTO. Pronouns
Kindly asking, but what are your personal pronouns? The software indicates that you have selected feminine pronouns ("she/her", but on your user page, it says, "he/him"). Just curious. If you reply here, please ping me. thetechie@enwiki: ~/talk/ $ 02:10, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- @TheTechie: Hello. I'm currently trying out fem pronouns, I just forgot to change my user page. I might change it again in the future, so a peice of adivice: For me, please uses whatever the software says, as Im more likely to remember to update that then my user page. (sidenote, is there a template that just inserts whatever the software's selected pronouns are?) GrayStorm(talk|look at what i do) 02:25, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- No worries! I have just made a template for this purpose (User:TheTechie/autopronouns), which will automatically return pronouns based on your gender set in the software. I have applied it to your user page (using arguments based on the edit where you manually changed your listed pronouns, but you are free to change the arguments I provided).
- A few more things to note:
- You can supply two more pronouns as arguments (for example, if I used {{User:TheTechie/autopronouns|she}} with my account, it would return "they/them/theirs (also fine with she/her/hers)".
- Note that the additional arguments aren't checked against your account setting. So if you pass in "he" as an argument and your account is set to "male", it'll show "he/him/his" twice.
- Hope this helps.
- Please do not subst the template, it breaks the template.
- Any more questions, please ping me. Any feature requests, please leave them on the talk page of the template. I will be watching. thetechie@enwiki: ~/talk/ $ 03:07, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- Cool, thanks! GrayStorm(complaints department|look at what i do) 03:31, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
Rollback
Hi GrayStorm. After reviewing your request, I have enabled rollback on your account.
Fastily 21:28, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
Reminder about the autopronouns tag
Hey. I noticed you changed your account settings back to masc pronouns. Please make sure that you intend the "they/them" to still be displayed alongside he/him on your userpage. Just a reminder. thetechie@enwiki: ~/talk/ $ 02:22, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
- Yep, that's intentional, thanks! (side note: gender be confusing lol) GrayStorm(talk|stalk me) 03:06, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
- P.S. I'm still figuring stuff out (see parathesees above) so I might switch it again. Just know that I will pretty much always allow people to use they/them for me, since it's gender neutral. Just letting you know so you dont feel the need to check up again. GrayStorm(converse|look at what i do) 03:18, 4 June 2024 (UTC)

I want to hellp --Kuba20223radio (talk) 15:41, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
- Hello. There are many ways to help around wikipedia. What I do to help is patrol the "recent changes' tab to look for vandalism. When I see vandalism, I revert it and add a user warning to the vandal's talk page, or report them to WP:AIV if they have gotten a level 4 warning within the month. This process can be done manually, but it is easier to do with tools like twinkle, which you can access when your account is autoconfirmed (10 edits and 4 days since account creation). Another thing you can do is look at the list of requested articles and write an article from there. Please be sure to add reliable sources whenever you add content to an article. Happy editing! [[file:image name here|thumb|optional caption here]]

Question from Titvnband (06:42, 18 June 2024)
I want to start a wikipedia for my band --Titvnband (talk) 06:42, 18 June 2024 (UTC)
- Hello. It is strongly discouraged to write an article about something with which you have a conflict of interest, which I'm presuming you have with your band. If your band is truely notable, that is, it has multiple reliable, independent, and secondary sources that go in depth about the band, then you can create a draft using the article wizard, making sure to declare your conflict of intrest, and then, when you think the article is ready, it can be submitted via articles for creation. Please note that if your draft apears to be promotional, it may be speedily deleted. One more thing: your username implies your account might be shared among multipul people, which is against wikipedias username policy, and you might be blocked for it. To resolve this issue, use Special:GlobalRenameRequest. Happy editing! GrayStorm(Complaints Dept.|My Contribs.) 15:35, 18 June 2024 (UTC)

Question from TheCrowleyBeast (19:38, 10 July 2024)
hi, I have an article I wish to submit. It is about my band. And we have made accomplishments here in the underground movement in Buenos Aires. Even when I cite well known sources, I get it rejected. Of course it is a hard process to get a Wikipedia page approved, but I would want to know more about what I really need to add. Reviewers are rejecting my submissions. --TheCrowleyBeast (talk) 19:38, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, your draft was declined because it does not seem to meet the criteria laid out in WP:GNG, that is, it does not contain multiple, reliable, in depth, and independent sources. I am unsure about the reliability of the mica source, as I don't speak very much spanish, and my translator app isn't playing nice with the webpage. However, the other source provided does not meet the criteria, as I could not find any mention of the band in the source. If there are more reliable sources out there, feel free to add them and then resubmit the article. If, however, you can not find any reliable sources, the band likely doesn't warrant a wikipedia article. Happy editing! GrayStorm(Complaints Dept.|My Contribs.) 01:10, 11 July 2024 (UTC)

Hi! Well, I got back to Aafi and apologised for not getting back sooner. OK, so that being said, could I get a rename AdamTSWiki to Nimbocrux? I'm unable to log into Nimbocrux. I've forgotten the password and I can't reset it. I think it's associated with an email I no longer have access to? AdamTSWiki (talk) 11:55, 23 July 2024 (UTC)
- Seems like @DreamRimmer: is taking care of that. I personally can't help with the actual renaming, as I don't have the precision needed, I just help by "clerking" the rename venues. Note that, assuming everything you say is true, it will take a week before anything happens with your request. This is standard for usurpations, as it gives the person being usurped time to object to being usurped. One more thing, be sure to sign your comments on talk pages by puting ~~~~ at the end of your comments. This should only be done on talk pages and some (not all) Wikipedia: namespace pages. Don't sign in articles. For more info, see WP:SIGNATURE. GrayStorm(Complaints Dept.|My Contribs.) 15:31, 23 July 2024 (UTC)
