The New Page Patroller's Barnstar

For over 100 article reviews during 2022. Thank you for patrolling new pages and helping us out with the backlog! -MPGuy2824 (talk) 04:05, 2 January 2023 (UTC)

New Pages Patrol newsletter January 2023

Hello Govvy,

New Page Review queue December 2022
Backlog

The October drive reduced the backlog from 9,700 to an amazing 0! Congratulations to WaddlesJP13 who led with 2084 points. See this page for further details. The queue is steadily rising again and is approaching 2,000. It would be great if <2,000 were the “new normal”. Please continue to help out even if it's only for a few or even one patrol a day.

2022 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2022 cup for 28,302 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 80/day. There was one Gold Award (5000+ reviews), 11 Silver (2000+), 28 Iron (360+) and 39 more for the 100+ barnstar. Rosguill led again for the 4th year by clearing 49,294 redirects. For the full details see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone!

Minimum deletion time: The previous WP:NPP guideline was to wait 15 minutes before tagging for deletion (including draftification and WP:BLAR). Due to complaints, a consensus decided to raise the time to 1 hour. To illustrate this, very new pages in the feed are now highlighted in red. (As always, this is not applicable to attack pages, copyvios, vandalism, etc.)

New draftify script: In response to feedback from AFC, the The Move to Draft script now provides a choice of set messages that also link the creator to a new, friendly explanation page. The script also warns reviewers if the creator is probably still developing the article. The former script is no longer maintained. Please edit your edit your common.js or vector.js file from User:Evad37/MoveToDraft.js to User:MPGuy2824/MoveToDraft.js

Redirects: Some of our redirect reviewers have reduced their activity and the backlog is up to 9,000+ (two months deep). If you are interested in this distinctly different task and need any help, see this guide, this checklist, and spend some time at WP:RFD.

Discussions with the WMF The PageTriage open letter signed by 444 users is bearing fruit. The Growth Team has assigned some software engineers to work on PageTriage, the software that powers the NewPagesFeed and the Page Curation toolbar. WMF has submitted dozens of patches in the last few weeks to modernize PageTriage's code, which will make it easier to write patches in the future. This work is helpful but is not very visible to the end user. For patches visible to the end user, volunteers such as Novem Linguae and MPGuy2824 have been writing patches for bug reports and feature requests. The Growth Team also had a video conference with the NPP coordinators to discuss revamping the landing pages that new users see.

Re: Benny Girke

Hi, Govvy - having been away for a few days, I just realized I was a bit more curt at the (now closed) Benjamin Girke AfD than I'd intended. To expand just a little bit: Local and regional newspaper writing about amateur footballers in a SIGCOV-relevant fashion generally just isn't something that happens in Germany, and certainly not if there's no reason to cover them beyond their hobby. If their editors are short on content for the next issue, they're much more likely to fill the blank spaces with ads instead, because well, I think we're all vaguely aware where print's at in 2024. Now, that's obviously no ironclad guarantee that there really hasn't been any coverage of him, but searchable online newspaper archives are few and far between at the local level, to put it mildly, so you pretty much wind up just stubbing your toes at the limits of practicability here. Hope that's a little more helpful. Dr. Duh 🩺 (talk) 08:32, 12 January 2023 (UTC)

"Harry Kane" as top scorer

Thanks for restoring the version on the Tottenham Hotspur records article, but Harry Kane's article still says that he is the top scorer. Could you restore that article too? Mwiqdoh (talk) 10:31, 6 February 2023 (UTC)

I have a work meeting I am going out too soon, so it might not be done today. I kinda of edit wikipedia between small breaks at work, which I probably shouldn't be doing!! Regards Govvy (talk) 10:33, 6 February 2023 (UTC)

Newcastle United

Not sure what's happening with this article between this and that over the dispute of relevant content or not... Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 16:31, 15 February 2023 (UTC)

@Iggy the Swan: I was trying to revert this dodgy edit, [1], regards. Govvy (talk) 19:17, 15 February 2023 (UTC)
Ah I see - sometimes other later edits do get in the way and restoring a previous version would be the better option. Didn't notice the dodgy edit. Cheers -- Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 20:34, 15 February 2023 (UTC)

Good afternoon, from Portugal,

i'm actually undoing the actions of this blocked nuisance, NEVER talked to anyone during their spell here, met their wiki-demise early this month i believe. From there onwards, they have already "contributed" through tons of IPs, i have reported them all, and they all were blocked.

No worries, vandal's version stays in Jonny (footballer)! Attentively 2001:8A0:7643:2400:19F9:D2:685D:B94A (talk) 18:29, 25 February 2023 (UTC)

@2001:8A0:7643:2400:19F9:D2:685D:B94A: I am not sure what you're on about, an unverified sock? Anyway I am just reverting you on Johnny which seems like a perfectly valid link from the official website. Regards. Govvy (talk) 18:34, 25 February 2023 (UTC)

Yes sir, sockpuppetry through IPs, you can check User:Mattythewhite's talk where several addresses are reported (then blocked). Regarding the link in Jonny, indeed it is valid because it's an official club profile that does not appear anywhere else in the article.

Regards back, sorry for any inconvenience --2001:8A0:7643:2400:19F9:D2:685D:B94A (talk) 18:38, 25 February 2023 (UTC)

I was sure I'd seen similar editing like that before, back on 17 February to be precise, when a link I identified as "appropriate" was reverted. Nonetheless, I will also take the above information to my knowledge too -- attentively, Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 19:53, 25 February 2023 (UTC)

Firstly, your maths is wrong, 49 + 5 does not equal 51 (amongst other examples). Secondly, you are double counting the play-off matches which Soccerway displays as 'league' but they are not (they are already displayed in the 'other' column). GiantSnowman 14:03, 26 February 2023 (UTC)

@GiantSnowman: What are you on about? He played 15 league games in 2021 and 34 in 2022 for Waterford, that equals 49, are you going to fix it or not? Govvy (talk) 14:15, 26 February 2023 (UTC)
I've already explained the situation with playoffs - see these edits by @Supersaints2014:. GiantSnowman 14:19, 26 February 2023 (UTC)
What's that got to do with that? Soccerway records the playoffs as a cup, why are you recording his league stats lower? Why are you making this mistake?? Govvy (talk) 14:22, 26 February 2023 (UTC)

Nirvana

Here are some band members who are not sourced (or their years of inclusion are not sourced, or their instruments are not sourced) in the article: Lori Goldston, Chad Channing, Jason Everman. There are others. I don't need to list all of them here. Please either add citations to confirm all of the details of all members, or remove them from the list and adjust the timeline accordingly. I'm not keen on removing everything so I can accept your revert for now, but I do expect WP:V to be respected. I'm challenging anything that is not fully sourced, so WP:V applies for that information. Thanks. Sundayclose (talk) 15:44, 9 March 2023 (UTC)

@Sundayclose: Lori Goldston, (cite:72) Chad Channing, (cites:14, 173), Jason Everman (cite:18), there are covered by citations from prose. Govvy (talk) 15:48, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
Where is it cited that Smear performed backing vocals? There are others. Again, everything in the list needs to be sourced. Please fix the list and timeline. Thanks. Sundayclose (talk) 15:55, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
@Sundayclose: Why should I fix anything? All I see and from my point of view, is that you're just being disruptive! Also there is a talk page for every article, if you have problems with something post there. Regards. Govvy (talk) 15:59, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
If you don't want to provide the citations, that's entirely up to you. But don't restore uncited information. Requesting citations is not a policy violation. Restoring uncited material is a policy violation if you've been asked not to do so. Sundayclose (talk) 16:01, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
@Sundayclose: Leave me alone and stop doing editing which appears disruptive. Govvy (talk) 16:02, 9 March 2023 (UTC)
I placed a refimprove tag on the section. We'll see what happens over the next couple of weeks. I'll leave you alone if you don't violate policies again. Sundayclose (talk) 16:05, 9 March 2023 (UTC)

AIV Report

I see that you never warned TraackerTrxxs before submitting an AIV report against them. AirmanKitten203 (talk) 14:06, 23 March 2023 (UTC)

@AirmanKitten203: No you don't need to warn people about that, doesn't matter first warning, or final warning, if you feel you see inappropriate behaviour you can report any IP or user without warning them. Govvy (talk) 15:49, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
@Ad Orientem: I saw that TraackerTrxxs created the now deleted page Placeholder00. Bit of an odd account, very old with some interesting editing, and I don't think it's a primary account, but someone's sub-account. Regards. Govvy (talk) 15:49, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
Warnings are almost always expected before an admin will block. The rare exceptions are outlined in WP:ZT. -Ad Orientem (talk) 16:05, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
@Ad Orientem: Alas, exception! I only report what I see and deemed inappropriate. It's up to the admins to make the final call. Regards. Govvy (talk) 16:10, 23 March 2023 (UTC)

Not updating 2022–23 Tottenham Hotspur F.C. season

Sorry for not updating it, I just was not in the mood because of that embarassing game. I never turn the TV off before the game finishes (no matter how badly we are losing), so that was the longest 90 minutes of my life. What a fucking disgrace. Mwiqdoh (talk) 08:52, 26 April 2023 (UTC)

@Mwiqdoh: I am not sure why you are sorry to me, but I understand your frustration with Tottenham. Govvy (talk) 10:46, 26 April 2023 (UTC)

The background section

The background section is needed to give readers background information for the season. It gives information on how they qualified to the season's UCL, how Conte was appointed, etc. It's all relevant to this season. Mwiqdoh (talk) 10:48, 26 April 2023 (UTC)

@Mwiqdoh: Stick to the key points, don't need a separate heading for background. Tottenham finished last season in a certain place, so qualified for the Champions league. Manager change from last season doesn't need to be mentioned this season. Tottenham started the campaign with who in charge, doesn't need a why. Simple, neutral and to the point. :/ Govvy (talk) 10:52, 26 April 2023 (UTC)

1991–92 Kilmarnock F.C. season

Regarding the 1991–92 Kilmarnock F.C. season, there is some significant coverage on Newspapers.com. I´ve added a couple from the Kilmarnock Standard and Irvine Herald and Kilwinning Chronicle to the article. There is also more from the Standard from 9 August (they had several pages dedicated to the beginning of the season)[2][3]. During the DRV, I think I found another source from a third paper either from the start of the season or the end (probably july/august) that would hopefully solify a GNG pass but I can't remember for the life of me where it was (either Newspapers.com or The British Newspaper Archive). I'll take a better look tonight and see if I can't find it again. Alvaldi (talk) 12:03, 15 May 2023 (UTC)

Hiya, thanks for that, there are a fair number of sources on the article, so I am a little confused by the deletion. Will get to tidying it up as I can. Govvy (talk) 21:23, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
Seems to have been a disagreement of whether match reports alone were enough for to prove notability a season. Personally I think that if a team gets detailed coverage of each aspect of the season (matches, transfers etc.) then that season should probably qualify for a separate article (as I argued in Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/1987–88 Kilmarnock F.C. season). That said, not everyone agrees so it never hurts having a couple of sources discussing the season as a whole as it should be enough for the article to avoid AfD.
By the way, the Nearly men! article has a list at the bottom with all the players who appeared in a match during the season. Alvaldi (talk) 09:11, 16 May 2023 (UTC)
@Alvaldi: I decided to move the article back to main space. Regards. Govvy (talk) 09:36, 20 May 2023 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Qwerfjkl (bot). I have automatically detected that this edit performed by you, on the page Gary Greenhill, may have introduced referencing errors. They are as follows:

  • A "bare URL and missing title" error. References show this error when they do not have a title. Please edit the article to add the appropriate title parameter to the reference. (Fix | Ask for help)

Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, Qwerfjkl (bot) (talk) 23:58, 15 May 2023 (UTC)

Hello. There isn't much, I'm afraid. The Arsenal Who's Who is actually available online at https://archive.org/details/inlibrary , you should be able to see the page with his details HERE without an account. Xenophobe

Hi there! The reason why I removed the second box art is because second box arts are only used in vary rare circumstances. It would basically require that the second Xenophobe box art to be itself a particularly notable second box art , which, in order to do that, it would need to do more than just be used to identify a second box art. - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 16:08, 9 June 2023 (UTC)

The reason why it can't be used is because "it's helpful" is not an adequate argument for a fair use rationale. As it is, the image constitutes a copyright violation, as "providing visual identification of the subject of the article" can only be used for the lead image. - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 14:15, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
@Cukie Gherkin: On the copyright, which most people don't realise, it's interesting really, but Atari Lynx boxes don't have copyright themselves. The image on the box, the copyright belongs to the artist, then all the logo's on the boxes are TM'ed and the actually game data is copyright'ed. Wikipedia has many floors and understanding of copyrights and how they work is one aspect. Govvy (talk) 14:23, 13 June 2023 (UTC)
If this is true, it still stands that the artist owns the copyright, so it would still fail fair use. - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 14:56, 13 June 2023 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Xenophobe Atari Lynx box scan.jpeg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Xenophobe Atari Lynx box scan.jpeg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:06, 16 June 2023 (UTC)

New Pages Patrol newsletter June 2023

Hello Govvy,

New Page Review queue April to June 2023

Backlog

Redirect drive: In response to an unusually high redirect backlog, we held a redirect backlog drive in May. The drive completed with 23851 reviews done in total, bringing the redirect backlog to 0 (momentarily). Congratulations to Hey man im josh who led with a staggering 4316 points, followed by Meena and Greyzxq with 2868 and 2546 points respectively. See this page for more details. The redirect queue is steadily rising again and is steadily approaching 4,000. Please continue to help out, even if it's only for a few or even one review a day.

Redirect autopatrol: All administrators without autopatrol have now been added to the redirect autopatrol list. If you see any users who consistently create significant amounts of good quality redirects, consider requesting redirect autopatrol for them here.

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team, consisting of Sam, Jason and Susana, and also some patches from Jon, has been hard at work updating PageTriage. They are focusing their efforts on modernising the extension's code rather than on bug fixes or new features, though some user-facing work will be prioritised. This will help make sure that this extension is not deprecated, and is easier to work on in the future. In the next month or so, we will have an opt-in beta test where new page patrollers can help test the rewrite of Special:NewPagesFeed, to help find bugs. We will post more details at WT:NPPR when we are ready for beta testers.

Articles for Creation (AFC): All new page reviewers are now automatically approved for Articles for Creation draft reviewing (you do not need to apply at WT:AFCP like was required previously). To install the AFC helper script, visit Special:Preferences, visit the Gadgets tab, tick "Yet Another AFC Helper Script", then click "Save". To find drafts to review, visit Special:NewPagesFeed, and at the top left, tick "Articles for Creation". To review a draft, visit a submitted draft, click on the "More" menu, then click "Review (AFCH)". You can also comment on and submit drafts that are unsubmitted using the script.

You can review the AFC workflow at WP:AFCR. It is up to you if you also want to mark your AFC accepts as NPP reviewed (this is allowed but optional, depends if you would like a second set of eyes on your accept). Don't forget that draftspace is optional, so moves of drafts to mainspace (even if they are not ready) should not be reverted, except possibly if there is conflict of interest.

Pro tip: Did you know that visual artists such as painters have their own SNG? The most common part of this "creative professionals" criteria that applies to artists is WP:ARTIST 4b (solo exhibition, not group exhibition, at a major museum) or 4d (being represented within the permanent collections of two museums).

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles, or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion debates, as you did with 2023 Merdeka Tournament . Otherwise, it may be difficult to create consensus. If you oppose the deletion of an article, please comment at the respective page instead. Thank you. Drat8sub (talk) 06:12, 27 June 2023 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) The removal of the template pretty obviously occurred by accident while Govvy was reverting your edit to the page immediately subsequent to nominating for AfD (and it's typically bad form for an editor to nominate an article for AfD and also remove significant amounts of content from the article while the AfD is open, as you did, even if the edits would otherwise be justifiable). Templating an experienced editor over something as trivial as this is pretty silly. signed, Rosguill talk 06:25, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
@Rosguill: That's to me is not accident, undoing my last edit does not remove the notice. Templates are for everyone, experience or no experience, and an experienced should have the proper knowledge of how to revert or undo before removing a AfD notice mistakenly or knowingly from an article. I don't agree with you, that seems deliberate since the user is experienced, one cannot expect from such an experienced user. Drat8sub (talk) 06:32, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
? I use Twinkle, it often happens that it removes other edits I didn't want removed. And frankly why are you ignoring the citations and removing the content from the page while it's at AfD is bad form. Govvy (talk) 06:37, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
Templating experienced users can be appropriate, but templating someone who obviously knows the futility of removing an AfD template, when there's a much more likely explanation, is very, very silly. signed, Rosguill talk 06:40, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
Ok, I consider the above as mistake. Secondly bro, your argument there in the discussion is the tournament is significant, it is historic, it's important in the Asian circuit, correct no one is denying these fact. We have Merdeka Tournament for history, importance records but not this article. The topic of this article is 2023 edition not the merdeka itself. MFA did not have announced anything yet, the tournamnet will be there, but they have not announced team, they have not announced any schedule, they have not announced format (round robin or knowckout), but the article is already showing this information which is making wikipedia as news, even the ranking that to be used for the Merdeka will not be this ranking but the ranking to be announced in July. Till not two times the teams are changed, it can be changed again, both the present articles contradict each other, so let it be announced formally. So, I hope you understand the problem with this article. Thus it's very very silly that you are bringing this argument even why I am removing something which not anoounced yet. Drat8sub (talk) 06:49, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
If the article gets deleted, it gets deleted, but you're just repeating yourself here, AfD is the venue for these conversations, not my talk page. And, the main problem is, you've gone and delete the content from the page which you have nominated. Surely you know articles at AfD are fine for adding too, but subtracting massive amounts from or deletion of the majority is running your own consensus before a consensus has been established at AfD. Seriously, as Rosguill said, this is bad form! Govvy (talk) 06:59, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
You yourself is asking me here why I am removing, then again you are asking in your last comment. I just removed which is unsourced and which is not announced yet, that need not to be waited for the discussion to over. So, first decide what you are asking and why you are asking. Anyway, I will not comment here further. Anything and everything which is unsourced, unannounced and does not follow any guidelines will be deleted. Thank you. Han Willhoft-King

Comment noted, Govvy. It was not intended to be xenophobic (I thought my subsequent comment regarding playing in Ireland or Wales as being insufficient helped to clarify it) but it was certainly badly written by me. The author of the article seemed to be relying on media coverage in Indonesia to justify inclusion. I was trying, poorly, to say that was insufficient on its own. HW-K seemed only to get sig cov in Indonesia because of his rarity in being a footballer with a connection to Indonesia (he doesn't seem to be of Indonesian descent) who is registered with a major club. I proposed the article for deletion as the player is not part of the first team squad and has not made an appearance for the first team. This is exactly the same as the only other time I proposed an article for deletion (Will Lankshear, who was deleted), so I thought the proposal was justified. I was about to seek your help on another matter. Permission to write again? LenF54 (talk) 16:56, 4 September 2023 (UTC)

@LenF54: You had every right to propose the article for deletion, but your choice of words on this nomination really wasn't the best. You should never say foreigner sources are insufficient like that, you should treat every source either as local, (local to the event and country) and every other source as a universal. Thank you. Please undo your vandalism

Please undo your vandalism to the Colchester United FC article. If you want to risk uploading an unofficial logo then do so, but do not vandalise the page by deleting other updated content. Magpie069 (talk) 20:50, 6 September 2023 (UTC)

It's not an unofficial logo. It's from the football club. Govvy (talk) 21:29, 6 September 2023 (UTC)
The club has never had a sky blue coloured crest, one simple look at the club website will tell you that. As I say fair enough if you wanted to put it back for the time being (at your own risk) but you should restore the other updates to the article you wiped in the process unless you want reporting. Magpie069 (talk) 09:57, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
Very curious as to why a new user with a handful of edits is lecturing a user who has been here 17 years or so about their edits. 331dot (talk) 10:03, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
Because they heavy handedly deleted edits other people had spent time making to the page and still is yet to apologise or re-instate them. Don’t care how long they’ve been editing if they are vandalising others work. Magpie069 (talk) 10:17, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
If they have been here 17 years, did you consider that they might have some understanding of policies and how to edit, perhaps greater than yours?(unless this is not your first account) 331dot (talk) 10:24, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
In the interest of neutrally resolving this dispute: it does appear the crest from the club website is a different hex colour of blue than the one currently on Wikipedia and should be updated and the old version deleted as it's no longer fair use and came from a different website, but not replaced with the Community Homes Stadium image. SportingFlyer T·C 10:31, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
I completely agree that this is the course of action that needs to be taken... is this something you can resolve? Magpie069 (talk) 10:43, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
SportingFlyer And that might very well be- but Magpie069 could stand to change their approach(for example terming this "vandalism" is incorrect) 331dot (talk) 10:53, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
The 'vandalism' was in reference to wiping out a load of updated information on the article when they re-instated the false logo which I felt was a bit of a shady move. Apologies if terming it vandalism was incorrect or caused distress. Magpie069 (talk) 11:05, 7 September 2023 (UTC)
Oh agreed - this is just a minor editing dispute and one which should be easily solved... SportingFlyer T·C 09:59, 8 September 2023 (UTC)

Hello all! I am not sure why Magpie069 would say the club has never had a sky blue crest? Because that was the same crest before it was delete off of commons, and I just did a transfer to wikipedia. It was that format at one point in the clubs history. As for current crest, that can be rectified. I've emailed the club for updated media regarding this issue. I will wait and see if they reply, and then I can update it if they respond. Bearing in mind, it might be out of date, but it's still a more or less correct representation of the crest for identification. And clearing two edits for a reinstate is hardly a big deal. Things can be rectified. Govvy (talk) 11:14, 7 September 2023 (UTC)

New pages patrol newsletter

Hello Govvy,

New Page Review article queue, March to September 2023

Backlog update: At the time of this message, there are 11,300 articles and 15,600 redirects awaiting review. This is the highest backlog in a long time. Please help out by doing additional reviews!

October backlog elimination drive: A one-month backlog drive for October will start in one week! Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Articles will earn 4x as many points compared to redirects. You can sign up here.

PageTriage code upgrades: Upgrades to the PageTriage code, initiated by the NPP open letter in 2022 and actioned by the WMF Moderator Tools Team in 2023, are ongoing. More information can be found here. As part of this work, the Special:NewPagesFeed now has a new version in beta! The update leaves the NewPagesFeed appearance and function mostly identical to the old one, but updates the underlying code, making it easier to maintain and helping make sure the extension is not decommissioned due to maintenance issues in the future. You can try out the new Special:NewPagesFeed here - it will replace the current version soon.

Notability tip: Professors can meet WP:PROF #1 by having their academic papers be widely cited by their peers. When reviewing professor articles, it is a good idea to find their Google Scholar or Scopus profile and take a look at their h-index and number of citations. As a very rough rule of thumb, for most fields, articles on people with a h-index of twenty or more, a first-authored paper with more than a thousand citations, or multiple papers each with more than a hundred citations are likely to be kept at AfD.

Reviewing tip: If you would like like a second opinion on your reviews or simply want another new page reviewer by your side when patrolling, we recommend pair reviewing! This is where two reviewers use Discord voice chat and screen sharing to communicate with each other while reviewing the same article simultaneously. This is a great way to learn and transfer knowledge.

New club crest

Hi @Govvy, did you get around to contacting Colchester United FC regarding updating the club crest on their page? I have done a bit of digging in the meantime and have discovered that their current crest (the royal blue coloured one as displayed on their website) has been around since 2004 and the sky blue coloured crest currently on their wiki page has never been officially used by the club and not sure where it came from... unless it was just a mock-up? Can you advise how we can move forwards to get it updated please? Magpie069 (talk) 12:05, 24 September 2023 (UTC)

@Magpie069: their wiki page? Being that wikipedia is a non-profit it's not out for monetary gain so there is no value to copyright other than people wanting to sue wikipedia over it's use. But it would end up as a take down with no real harm done. I really don't see a problem with a different shade as it means it's not a direct copyright, however that is an open interpretation. As for updating the crest, I did try to contact the club twice, but had no response, you're more than welcome to try [4], Regards. Govvy (talk) 06:28, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
Surely as you say with Wiki being non-profit it is unlikely the club will sue wiki over its use, so can’t we update it internally anyway? I doubt all the other professional clubs that have their crests displayed on their pages were required to give permission. Magpie069 (talk) 11:37, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
I don't know, I have acquaintances at Tottenham and they are the only football club that I have been given media from. I've never associated with other football clubs. Govvy (talk) 12:11, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
Ah ok - in that case I feel we may be just as well to update it on the page and then if it gets challenged just revert it back? As I say every other professional team has their crest on display so I highly doubt it will cause any issues. Do you know how we can upload the current crest to the page? Magpie069 (talk) 13:24, 26 September 2023 (UTC)

Finding who's online

Saw your ANI post, you're right, email can take forever. Use this too though; you can load a particular skill set and it'll show you whose online. Right now, our very own HJ Mitchell is the lucky guy  :)

Hope you're well! ——Serial 14:26, 6 December 2023 (UTC)

Sorted. FYI, it's always better to use email for that sort of thing. You'd be surprised how quick you'll get a response if you email User:Oversight; the email goes to a queue and most oversighters get an email notification when a new ticket lands in the queue. You'll often get a response in under five minutes. :) Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 14:36, 6 December 2023 (UTC)
@Serial Number 54129: Thanks for this particular skill, you reminded me of a skilled CIA agent in France!! Govvy (talk) 14:47, 6 December 2023 (UTC)
