Any real reason why there wasn't enough sources? Do I need to also add a few YouTube links? I did just figure that the Times was enough, but if its not, just tell me and I can go in and add more. Thanks if you could reply on my user talk page or whatnot. I just want to contribute. Lord Ve'Rhos (talk) 04:04, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Question for WP:AN/IMAGE
Hey gig, User:Endlessdan has an image question, I don't know the answer. He uploaded this pic, does his rationale look okay? I have yet to dabble in image work outside of a few obvious CSDs. What does he need to add if the picture is to be acceptable? Reply here, AN/K, or here. Cheers, hope yer well mate -- Keeper ǀ 76 15:31, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- Yo Giggy - here is a little more info on this cat. He's been dead for over thirty years and no "promo pics" were ever distributed (to the best of my knowledge). --Endlessdan and his problem 16:34, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, dude, thank you! Image questions always come up for me and you are now the chosen one. --Endlessdan and his problem 13:04, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
And so it begins... Is this photo's tag okay? --Endlessdan and his problem 13:06, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
- Needs a fair use rationale; basically a statement that explains why you need to use a nonfree image for a specific article.
Request for wider input on discussion at WikiProject Tennis
Hi, there is an extremely long and muddled discussion going on at WP:Tennis about the tournament tables found on tennis player articles (i.e. this type of table), and I'm notifying you as you identified yourself as a member of the project. The dispute is over the "Tournament Name" column, with the options being to either use the "sponsored tournament name" - in other words, the name involving the sponsor, for example Internazionali BNL d'Italia - or the "non-sponsored tournament name" - in other words, Rome Masters. I appreciate that this conversation is very long and convoluted, so a brief summary can be found here, which is also where I request the discussion continues. Thanks, rst20xx (talk) 23:04, 3 September 2008 (UTC)

Audio samples for Thriller (album)
Hi Giggy. Currently we only have an audio sample of the title track. Could we have a sample of another track. I can't make audio samples myself but was wondering if you could help me? Generally speaking wikipedia has very few audio samples on Jackson. Anyway it would be nice to have an audio sample on one of the lesser know, yet well received tracks such as "Human Nature". — Realist2 00:33, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- I don't have access to any of the tracks myself. If you download Audacity (free), making audio samples that work for WP is really easy, and I can step you through it if you like. —Giggy 09:27, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- Please do, someone voted oppose a few hours after I sent you that message, over something that can be resolved with more audio samples. — Realist2 11:41, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- Eek. :S Basically download the program, open the file in it, crop it out so it's about a 30 second sample, optionally add some fade ins and fade outs (from the effects menu). Go Edit --> Preferences, and in the box that shows up change the OGG quality to 0 (zero). Then go File --> Export as OGG vorbis, give it a file name, and save. You can use User:Giggy/Audio when you upload for an easy FUR. —Giggy 11:47, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- I'm trying to open a track in the program and it keeps saying that I need to convert it to a supported audio format because it has patent restrictions. Makes no sense to me. — Realist2 12:04, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm. Is it an MP3? They work fine, I dunno what other types do/don't work. If you wanna email it to me (g1ggyman@gmail.com) I can take a look (probably tomorrow unless you get it quick... sleep needed). —Giggy 12:11, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- Managed to figure out how to record it. It sounds bloody awful though so I'm going to play around with it a little. — Realist2 12:12, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- OK, I've got it saved, I just need to know where I go to upload it. The Upload file button on the wikipedia tool box only does images. — Realist2 12:33, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

Over 9000 - help
Okay, my adoptive parent, I need help
I found a reference on the Anonymous page to Over 9000 and found there was no article on Over 9000. I wrote one here:
http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:UnicornTapestry/WiP/Over_9000
but found the Over 9000 locked, preventing it from being added.
Can we unlock it long enough to move the article? Or can you help me petition to have it at least temporarily unlocked? Thanks.

Dear Dr Reverend Mr Giggy (Esq).
You mean I can't use a mysterious newspaper clipping with no information on its source as an authoritative citation? This is an outrage, I demand to see an administrator!
In all seriousness, I felt a bit iffy inserting that one, so I'm fine with its removal. Cite on! Lankiveil (speak to me) 11:24, 7 September 2008 (UTC).
- Dang. You had to say this was a joke, didn't you. I'll keep my RfC on you hidden away, then. Giggy (talk) 11:29, 7 September 2008 (UTC)
- I usually feel I have to say these things because sometimes I lighthearted japery against process is taken at face value. This of course, only makes it more fun to do, but I put a disclaimer in now... just in case!
- I was thinking of Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/John Carter which earned you a wikilinked LOL. Disclaimer added.

- Seriously though, I feel I'm already starting to hit the wall I do when I decide to improve an article, and I'm sort of stuck for what we should be adding. Sure, we could do a laundry list of all of the nice things that critics have said about the band, but that doesn't strike me as overly useful. Can you maybe give me a little direction on ways you would expand the article? Lankiveil (speak to me) 11:57, 7 September 2008 (UTC).
- Getting all the history stuff done is my current priority, just because I like to go in order article down. Nice work on the image addition, btw. For musical style, check out Nine Inch Nails#Musical characteristics which has a good one. I don't particularly like Powderfinger's and want to fix it one day. Silverchair's is OK, I guess, but somewhat unconventional. R.E.M.'s looks good at a glance. But yeah. Just whack stuff on and we can sort it all out later. No hurry :-) Giggy (talk) 06:51, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

- Yes, I'd like to get an earlier image of them to put higher up in the article, but Flickr's only available shots are from that one show in 2007. I sort of feel we'll need another nice picture between the infobox and the "Moo, You Bloody Choir" section, for aesthetic purposes if nothing else. Lankiveil (speak to me) 23:35, 8 September 2008 (UTC).
- Indeed. There's a few more on Commons but nothing older that I'm aware of. Time to start poking around for people who've been to their shows and asking nicely. Btw. got your email and everything worked fine, hence didn't reply. Giggy (talk) 00:32, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Peter Jones comments
FACs fail for lack of comments? It's not just a relist/keep listed? I've not partaken before apart from the occasional comment. Anyways, I wonder if the sujbject matter might be hosing me. Wikiproject Methodism seems to have exactly one active participant, and Wikiproject Anishishabe seems to have the same. I've personally never commented on an featured article candidate where I didn't know the subject matter. But I've never tried my hand at FAC before, I've cut everything loose by GA, so I really don't know the culture. WilyD 03:17, 13 September 2008 (UTC)
- If there isn't enough support they're sometimes archived as a lack of consensus. Luck of the draw. Relisting generally happens if the FAC page is getting too full and nobody has any idea what's going on (though sometimes they just go to a new FAC page, eg. this shitstorm).
- I usually find that people otherwise uninterested will comment on random FACs (eg. I commented on yours, and just now added some comments on a
cyclonetropical storm. It's not like it's a cabal or anything, but I find that adding useful comments on others' FACs helps build the good faith in general and might get some more eyes over to yours. - In any case, the article looks great. And that's the most important thing. Giggy (talk) 03:42, 13 September 2008 (UTC)

Copyedit request
Hi, I'm looking for a copyeditor for an article and you were recommended by a user on IRC. I was wondering if you could copyedit Homer Simpson. I've been working on the article for a while and although I was hoping it would be longer than it is, I've pretty much hit a wall and I doubt there is a lot more I can add (other than some analysis). So in order to get it ready for a FAC, it needs some copyediting and I would appreciate it if you could take a look. Thanks for your time, Scorpion0422 02:55, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Hey Giggy, I just joined WikiProject Songs and I need kind of need a heads-up on where to get started, so I was wondering if you could review Epic by Faith No More so I how to improve it, and from there how to improve other song articles. Yeah, it's not really a formal peer review, and I know I could check up on the FA articles, which I already have, but I am pretty horrendous at teaching myself things. If you could take the time to help me out, I would really appreciate it.

Doing our part for the war effort!
You may have noticed the posts going around on WikiProject talk pages about article selection for the Wikipedia 0.7 release. Here's the one at the alt-rock WikiProject: link. Could you go through your related FAs and GAs and add the version links you want to them to use in the physical release here? Thanks, and let me know if you need help with any cleanup when you're selecting article versions. WesleyDodds (talk) 04:36, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
- Oooh! I'll go through and do that for any I've worked on. Giggy (talk) 06:55, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
- I was wondering myself if any discographies should be included. I guess that's something to bring up at the Discographies WikiProject. WesleyDodds (talk) 07:04, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
- By the way, I figure you'll have your hands full sorting through the selected WP:Australia articles. If there's something pressing you need cleaned up, let me know and I'll try to help you. WesleyDodds (talk) 07:09, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Lockdown
Hi!, my name is William and it is nice to meet you. I have the article Lockdown (2008) under a peer review so that I can get everything fixed to meet FA standards. Would you be so kind and review it, that is if you have the time. It has went under three GA reviews at the sametime (I'll explain later), as well as a peer review and much smaller reviews. Your input will be very helpful and I will be grateful as well.--WillC 10:27, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
- I took a look at the lead and it looked pretty good. If I get the chance I'll take a more in depth look. Giggy (talk) 11:31, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Question regarding Infobox image use at Mother and Child Reunion (Degrassi: The Next Generation)
Hi Giggy. You said at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Mother and Child Reunion (Degrassi: The Next Generation) to take a look at The Stolen Earth regarding the image box image working with NFCC. I see that one has the caption "Near the end of the episode, Rose cradles a dying Doctor, who has just been shot by a Dalek extermination ray. The scene was written by executive producer Russell T Davies as a pastiche of romance fiction, and described by lead actor David Tennant as a "bitter scene of high emotion"." Should the Degrassi episode article do something similar to meet the criteria, then? Regards, Matthewedwards (talk • contribs • email) 06:54, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, essentially, if you're going to use the nonfree image you'll need some critical commentary relating to that specific scene, to show it's noteworthy. "The Stolen Earth" is a good example of this in action in an image caption. I'd suggest you do likewise. Giggy (talk) 06:58, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
I replied to your comments here. Thank you for taking the time to review this article; I appreciate it very much. Cheers, -talk- the_ed17 -contribs- 15:52, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Reply for Kabuki Warriors explain source reference
Ok fair enough, but i will show you the source anyway to veryfie the claim, 'With a bit of luck, Genki, Lightweight and Crave will be starting work on the long awaited sequel for the great Kabuki fighting game, Kabuki Warriors, if you keep your fingers tied it will be out next year, it is a really fun fighting game that is one of the few that lets gamers know about the japanese art of Kabuki, and it is know about time that the sequel is made, a lot has changed since the releace of this original MS launch title in 2001, for one the Xbox 1 is dead! There are many reasons to name why this game needs a new foray into the gaming market, the main reasonis because of next gen technology but also to make a even better sequel for a already brilliant game' this is my source i have used to veryfie my claim. I don't understand how you can defend him after such incivility. I understand you had a problem with animum brining up his RFA votes, and so did I, but his comments about being refused account creator and his reply to that teacher were completely out of order. He has a long history of such comments, he's dead immature, and he accuses anyone who disagrees with him of hating wikipedia. You probably now this better than me, but I urge you to reconsider your oppose of the block which appears to be based on animum's comments. Favor and stuff
I'm doing some heavy multitasking right now cleaning up a bunch of the selected WP:ALM articles (particularly some FAs and GAs people haven't been looking after too well). I'd like to get diffs set for at least the top ten articles on the list as soon as possible. Coud you give Pearl Jam and Radiohead a run-through? Past experience has shown that those two articles are pretty well-maintained and there shouldn't be too much work to do in selecting/creating excellent versions to use for the 0.7 release. If you see some major problems you think need to be fixed, let me know and I'll wrangle with them. WesleyDodds (talk) 04:07, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
- Greetings, WesleyDodds. Bands only or also biographies? I have experience on two music biographies, one electronic music article, and work on AC/DC (Giggy will probably remember that it accidentally re-entered featured article review, and all sound samples were the suspects. - Thanks for the help. I'm waiting to see if there are further opinions or suggestions regarding what articles we should remove from the selected queue. I'm not sure how closely the people in charge of handling removal requests are paying attention to the page we're supposed to list them on, so I think it'd be best to list them all at the same time. At this point I'm more focuesed on getting good versions of the pages we definitely want on the 0.7 release. WesleyDodds (talk) 05:06, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

List of Muse songs

Hello, I saw that you are a portal peer review volunteer. I have worked much for the improvement of my portal, but some concerns may remain:
- Is the image at the top of the page useful and aesthetic, or should I remove or replace it ?
- Uggh... it does seem somewhat tacky. I'd remove it.
- Problem with the selected biography: I contented myself with writing a short sentence as an introduction for each personality. Then I wrote the beginning of the biography, then put a link "more..." to the complete article. Is it approriate ?
- Seems OK. Formatting issue with the more; take a look at (for instance) the more links on P:AUSMUSIC (bold, in brackets, etc.) and format them like that. Also, none of the blurbs should have refs in them (I noted one at Portal:Bande Dessinée/Selected biography/2. Some prefer to have the blurb just a copy paste of the lead, but it's up to you.
- Selected images are not of the same size. Is it really a problem ? It should be noted that free images for comics are very rare.
- Should be OK as long as they're not too different.
- Is the presentation of the news correct ? I did not specified the exact date of each event, only the month, because I do not know it.
- That's fine.
- If you have any other recommendations about other aspects of the portal, do not hesitate ! It MUST become a featured portal ! Thanks. (Please reply here).--Pah777 (talk) 22:02, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- One of the categories is a redlink. The intro box should probably have a word in bold, and ideally it'd be in two or three paragraphs (but it's OK as is...). Should Portal:Bande Dessinée/Selected picture/2 link to Walking on the Moon or something else? Otherwise, looks good! Giggy (talk) 00:32, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

Hey, the FUR javascript thingy you used on Image:Raptor-red.jpg looked really cool, and so I added it myself, but then I went to edit the FUR and I can't see any of the content. Description |
This is the front cover art for the book Raptor Red written by Robert T. Bakker. The book cover art copyright is believed to belong to the publisher, Bantam Books, or the cover artist. |
---|---|
Source |
Scanned by uploader. |
Article | |
Portion used |
The entire front cover. Because the image is a book cover, a form of product packaging, the entire image is needed to identify the product, properly convey the meaning and branding intended, and avoid tarnishing or misrepresenting the image. |
Low resolution? |
The copy is of sufficient resolution for commentary and identification but lower resolution than the original book cover. Copies made from it will be of inferior quality, unsuitable as artwork on pirate versions or other uses that would compete with the commercial purpose of the original artwork. |
Purpose of use |
Main infobox. The image is used for identification in the context of critical commentary of the work for which it serves as cover art. It makes a significant contribution to the user's understanding of the article, which could not practically be conveyed by words alone. The image is placed in the infobox at the top of the article discussing the work, to show the primary visual image associated with the work, and to help the user quickly identify the work and know they have found what they are looking for. Use for this purpose does not compete with the purposes of the original work, namely the book cover creator's ability to provide book cover design services and in turn marketing books to the public. |
Replaceable? |
As a book cover, the image is not replaceable by free content; any other image that shows the packaging of the book would also be copyrighted, and any version that is not true to the original would be inadequate for identification or commentary. Using a different image in the infobox would be misleading as to the identity of the work. |
Other information |
Use of the book cover in the article complies with Wikipedia non-free content policy and fair use under United States copyright law as described above. |

Age of Empires II
Hi Giggy, I've done a little copyedit work on Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings, but there's still a lot more to get through. I was working on Development, but I ran into something odd: "Artificial intelligence (AI) was an area that drew criticism in Age of Empires. One cause of this was that AI in the game did not "cheat"; that is, they did not grant themselves additional resources not made available to the human player." I would think that a reviewer would complain if the AI did cheat, not the other way around.
A general note: I'm noticing a lot of links as I go through the text. This is something that certain FAC regulars do not like to see, and I find I'm also becoming more sparing with what I link. For example, when listing the resources of food, wood, etc., the reader is not likely interested in the article on food—it is not closely related with the topic, and we can safely assume the reader is familiar enough with the concept that he will not need to visit it for a refresher. Another case is "economic buildings", which links to Economy. This is a slight surprise—a reader might think he's going to see an economic building article, which sounds kind of interesting, but instead goes to the plain economy article, which has the same problems as food. These kinds of links draw attention away from the more important links. Pagrashtak 14:23, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
Also, this looks contradictory: "Microsoft promised Ensemble Studios there would be a patch process for The Age of Kings. There was none; the game was released with several bugs that needed attention, but without a process for doing so. The first patch was released 11 months following The Age of Kings' release." Pagrashtak 18:07, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
- AI issue fixed... hopefully it's more clear now. Thanks for the delinkings, I tend to overlink so having someone look over my shoulder is a good thing. For the patch thing, I've again tried to clarify it a bit. Thanks for taking a look! Giggy (talk) 23:38, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

Hey Gig! Question about this pic. The man's claim to fame is being arrested 1000 times. He is also homeless, so a free photo would be pretty tough to find. Given that his noteriety is based on being arrested all freaking the time, would this pic and it's rationale be okay? Thanks! Oh and I found this pic here. It's some dudes blog, but he took its pretty obvious that this is a booking photo... and there are many of them. --Endlessdan and his problem 13:53, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
- Difficult to obtain or not, the fact is he is still alive. The Foundation has taken a particular stance against this (read Foundation:Resolution:Licensing policy, in particular item #3). He's been sentenced to 1000 days. When he is released, all it takes is for a Wikipedia editor to track him down. Given his notoriety and websites that track his existence, this should not be hard. --Hammersoft (talk) 15:12, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry Dan, I'm with Hammersoft on this one. If you could track him down and get a photo of him, it'd be sweet, or if any of these are him, they're free to use (most likely), but otherwise we can't use the nonfree one as getting a free replacement is possible. Sorry buddy. Giggy (talk) 23:44, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Ben Lee article
I'm unsure why you deleted my edit to the Ben Lee article concerning his religion. He's been very up front that he's Jewish and one of the links at the end of the article is to "Jewish Musicians." I fail to see why this publicly known fact is not relevant. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 158.83.210.198 (talk) 18:13, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hello. Sorry, that was a mistake. Thanks for fixing it up. Giggy (talk) 23:44, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
You're welcome. Ben Lee rules! 158.83.210.198 (talk) 19:08, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
I am so sorry, as you said "To have you come out and oppose just because" was not what I meant to do. If you take a look at my contribs, it was my last edit of the night and I forgot to add the most important part, why I was opposing. I have added that now, and have added there. The reason I oppose adminbots is because I feel the most important trait of adminship is judgement, and bots have none. The reason I included so much of the other content is because whenever I oppose an adminbot someone retorts that RedirectCleanupBot is fine, whether I believe Skynet will occur, or whether I plan to do the bot's job manually myself. So I included my counterclaim against each, but completely forgot at nearly 1AM to include the part about bots not having judgement. I hope I was able to clarify my point and/or position and hopefully you still think I "hav[e] pretty good judgement". I would never just show up to a discussion, flout everyone, and disappear. Greetings! Thank you for your comment on the peer review of Meshuggah (3 days ago)! I have one more question: could you check the language of the first paragraph of this section please? I reworded it and I am not sure if the language is good enough.-- LYKANTROP ✉ 19:30, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
Niagara Falls Suspension Bridge FAC
Yo Giggy! I have tried to address your concerns at the FAC. Please take a look. Thank you. Jappalang (talk) 11:35, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hey Jappa. Your edits look pretty good. I'll try and add some more comments when I'm feeling less tired (and it's only 10pm!), so probably when the FAC next appears on my watchlist. Until then Giggy (talk)
Can you please comments on this review. For me, the article contains far too-detailed information and I'm afraid it fails criterion 3b. If I am mistaken, please say so. Thanks Giggy. --Efe (talk) 12:06, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
- What about that criterion? Thanks for dropping by. If cleared, I'll pass it now. --Efe (talk) 12:16, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
- I think it doesn't fail that criterion. Giggy (talk) 12:17, 28 September 2008 (UTC)
- I'm still doubtful. Anyway, thanks for the help. --Efe (talk) 12:29, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

I've removed the game from the assessment list at the game project, since it's at FAN and assessments is moving very slowly at the minute. If that's a problem please revert me. Good luck with the FA. Someoneanother 19:20, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi Giggy,
Thank you for your comments on the Harry Potter FAC located Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Harry Potter. I've looked through them and I think that I've completed all of them (other than the stamps, see the FAC for more information). Please double check, and leave any comments at the FAC.

Hello, Giggy. I am wondering if you could review this one more time and answer my question posted. I'd appreciate it. Thanks—Chris! ct 01:22, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
using malking to source facts
Hey, hey, why do you remove this. I asked on the talk page at Talk:Anonymous_(group)#Sarah_Palin.27s_E_mail_account_in_Yahoo (the last two comments), and it seems that there was no problem as soon as soon as I only sourced only facts from that source. Check the text that you removed, they were only hard facts and technical details about how the account was hacked, there was no opinions and no anti-obama ranting. Do you have any problem if I restore it? --Enric Naval (talk) 01:31, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
- First of all, sorry, I have a horrible tendency to completely miss talk page discussion and make edits that they are discussing. (Well, apart from my comment there, that is!)
- Some of what Malkin says can be used in the article, and she works fine as a source for relatively difficult to dispute facts. But "so that Anonymous members could exploit the opportunity by means such as downloading all emails and uploading pornography into the account"—I don't recall anything like this coming up in any reliable source I read about the incident (and I think I read at least 20/30 stories about it as part of 4chan research/doing it for lulz :-)). The anti-Obama ranting was based on other stuff said in her blog, not necessarily anything you wrote.
- In general you're always welcome to revert me, but (unless you can prove me wrong in this particular case) I don't think the pornography comment should stay in the article. The rest, I'm kinda OK with (and I'll try to keep up with discussion).
- Cheers, and sorry. I guess this is why they wrote WP:BRD! Giggy (talk) 07:08, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
- Yea, that must why they wrote it :) Basically, the pornography thing is what the hacker intended Anonymous to do, but the email wasn't hacked for long enough for it to happen. As it didn't happen, it wasn't reported anywhere (btw, I can't find where on Malkin's post I found that thing about uploading pronography, and I can't find it on any of the other two sources...hum...maybe I got it mixed up from somewhere...:-/ ). I have restored the info, minus those intentions --Enric Naval (talk) 13:24, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
- I'm cool with that. Giggy (talk) 14:04, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Time-delayed Speedy Deletions for fun and profit
Funny, that, as I was looking for a template project. I'd like to have a proof-of-concept template first, but I'd be happy to write up a proposal. Do you think this would be worth going with a full-bore Wikipedia:Time-delayed Speedy Deletion route? Or maybe just a userspace proposal, for now? UltraExactZZ Claims ~ Evidence 12:16, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
- The Irony is thick this morning! OK, let me see how the template shakes out, and I'll ping you when I have a working draft. Thanks, UltraExactZZ Claims ~ Evidence 12:31, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, I've got a draft article up for time-delayed speedy - have a look at User:Ultraexactzz/Fake Real Person. UltraExactZZ Claims ~ Evidence 12:57, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's the only problem - and there might be another way to do it, but I drafted this based on PROD. The first template is subst'd, and calls the second (unsubst'd) while hard-coding the timestamp. Automatic tools could, in theory, hardcode that timestamp themselves, which would mean that they use the second template and not the first (subst'd) template. No idea if that's feasible or not, since I've never used anything more complicated than popups. I'll put something together and get more eyes on it. Thanks!
