Mark Duffy
Hello. Just a note about Mr Duffy's loan. It has ended (after yesterday's game): the expiry date is present and sourced in the article. Personally, I'd leave it there until we know what's happening. Don't think Birmingham want him back, so I'm guessing the loan will either be extended or made permanent. But the IP was technically correct in removing trying to remove it. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 10:35, 3 January 2016 (UTC)
troublesome editor
Dear GiantSnowman, there is a troublesome editor I am having problems with. While the majority of this editors contributions are helpful for some reason this editor believes that references shouldn't be used and only uses external links, in clear violation of WP:PROVEIT, WP:LINKFARM and WP:SOURCE. This can be seen on these edits 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 where s/he just randomly removes references. I didn't want to report this user for vandalism as most edits are constructive, but this tendency s/he has is really annoying. I left as message on his/her talk page but they never responded and haven't changed their behavior. Recently the editor once again 1 & 2 removed sources from articles, and while I undid these edits as well as leaving a message on their talk page they once again 1 & 2 removed the sources. I don't want to be drawn into an edit war so thought it was best to contact an administrator such as you to find a resolution to this issue. Thanks Inter&anthro (talk) 16:53, 3 January 2016 (UTC)

Stan Charlton (Sr.)
Hello GS, can you help with a source for information in respect of pre-war footballers? I am particularly looking for Stan Charlton, not the Arsenal & Orient one, but his dad who captained Palace in the 20s. Junior's obit in the Independent says dad played for 5 clubs, but I can only find three, been looking for ages... Thanks. Seasons & new year greetings. Eagleash (talk) 21:54, 3 January 2016 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks, I probably should have mentioned this previously. Eagleash (talk) 18:58, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
- Do you mind if after I move mine to main (& possibly to Stan Charlton, Sr. per the Lampards) I merge your stub to it as I have more detail/refs and the correct info re. FA XI?(The Exeter site is ambiguous, the other ref confirms he went to Oz and the other player to Canada). Regards, Eagleash (talk) 22:13, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks, if IRC the senior Lampard was 'born xxxx' till recently (September) when it was changed to Sr. The current (sort of) player had no disambiguation, still doesn't. Do we need hatnotes for the Charltons or as it's clear in the lead, not? Eagleash (talk) 20:59, 5 January 2016 (UTC)

I got it from an article. However, I can't add it right now, as I Googled it from my phone and made the edit through a PC. I will add the sources later.
About the infobox: I don't see any differences in the final display, but if you want I'll revert the format. MYS77 ✉ 18:50, 4 January 2016 (UTC)

Ah thanks, I wasn't sure. Here are others if you wish to look at them: Nikolai Vdovenko, Ivan Castiglia, Daniele Mattielig, Jefferson Luiz Nascimento de Souza, Lanry Kahinda, Abd Al Naser Hasan, Tomy Adriano Giacomeli and Noelle Keselica.
It's worth noting I actually found Bryan Davis (soccer) months ago (now deleted) but was not aware it was finally nominated last month. Cheers! SwisterTwister talk 06:55, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
User:SWASTIK 25
Hi. This user is really stubborn. I try to explain to him what the basis is for national team caps/goals on his talk page but all he does is delete it because he thinks he's right. I try to explain that even if a match is not FIFA recognized, the concerned FA in that particular match can still count it as a full 'A' international match and therefore players who appear in that match will get caps. In the case of SWASTIK 25, I try to explain that Maldives FA counts a match against Laos in 2014 as full international as it is not full FIFA. Therefore players like Ali Ashfaq who is Maldives all-time top scorer gets a cap for that match and his two goals are counted towards his stats which is stated by RSSSF [1]. Yet he doesn't seem to want any of it and continues to think that only FIFA matches are "official" and just deletes anything I try say on his talk page. He also continues to undo revisions here to fit his wants/beliefs. GoalsGalore (talk) 10:19, 7 January 2016 (UTC)
- You see. You posted a warning on his talk page but he deletes it right away. Just as he has done with the things that I've tried to explain to him as if to show that he's right and he will get his way no matter what which is very arrogant of him. GoalsGalore (talk) 21:14, 7 January 2016 (UTC)
- Would you be able to fully protect the page in dispute? GoalsGalore (talk) 08:56, 8 January 2016 (UTC)
- That's the thing though. User:SWASTIK 25 does not want to engage in any discussion. I've been editing on that top scorers page which is mainly based on RSSSF files (meaning reliable sources) and along comes Swastik25 and starts doing things as per his own beliefs/wants. I try to tell him otherwise but he doesn't want to listen and engage in any discussion. He just ends up deleting anything I put on his talk page. GoalsGalore (talk) 18:17, 8 January 2016 (UTC)
- Ya I apologize about the the edit warring and I haven't touched the page since. Swastik is the main culprit, just saying. GoalsGalore (talk) 18:23, 8 January 2016 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) I would like to quickly share my view. I dont know who is "right" or who is "wrong" (probably neither/both), and I have had a previous encounter with SWASTIK25, but I must say that the behaviour from SWASTIK25 is not good. Everytime an attempt for discussion is made, he simply removes the discussion at his talkpage and he does dont seem willing to discuss at all. Qed237 (talk) 18:25, 8 January 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you! There you go then, this SWASTIK25 is the disruptive one. You can neutral on who is right or wrong, but as Ive said, I base what I edit reliable sources such as RSSSF. So something needs to be done about this editor. He even has that note at the top of his talk page about being civil and respectful as you try to work out a resolution yet he does not engage in any discussion. Having said that, how am I suppose to take this to WP:DRN when Swastik won't even participate in a discussion. GoalsGalore (talk) 08:01, 9 January 2016 (UTC)
- @GoalsGalore: I think you are missing the point, you are both disruptive. Even if SWASTIK 25 is removing talkpage messages and not easy to talk to, you are still being disruptive as well and edit warring. You have tried his talkpage and that did not work, now try article talkpage or DRN to seek consensus and if he does not wish to talk there it is his loss. But dont put all the blame on him, you are both being disruptive. Qed237 (talk) 11:19, 9 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Qed237: Thanks, for your neutral behaviour! — SWASTIK 25 (User talk) 11:37, 9 January 2016 (UTC)
- @GoalsGalore & @Qed237: I have no intention to argue with my fellow users' editings, but my talk page is absolutely mine and Wikipedia allows every user the right to keep in or delete anything from his/her talk page. So, I have the right to delete whatever I want from my talk page. And User:GoalsGalore, I properly understand the basis for national team caps/goals & if you want any discussion relating to it, please use the article's talk page, not mine. Thank you. — SWASTIK 25 (User talk) 11:31, 9 January 2016 (UTC)

Just editing to add, that I agree with this post, I don't have an account, but I was editing a certain page to update the facts, when I was sent a message by this user. It stated that my editing was disruptive. The page in question was about a football club that I support, I was updating it, due to recent changes, now had this user researched the changes I'd made, he would have seen I was correct. So rather than just dismissing changes that have been made on a topic, which I'm almost certain he knows nothing about, he should actually do his job. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.65.48.10 (talk • contribs)

Racing Club de Bruxelles players
Can you restore your actions on the Racing Club de Bruxelles players? It is clear that Rhodienne-Den Hoek and Racing Club de Bruxelles are two different clubs. A Category of Rhodienne-Den Hoek players is complete nonsens, because this is an amateurclub on a very low level. It has no relevance that you played for this club. Racing Club de Bruxelles was a famous club with different national titles. Akadunzio (talk) 14:11, 9 January 2016 (UTC)

Re: Career stats table
Hey GS. The reason I have the league cup before the domestic cup in the career stats table is because, at least for India, the Indian Super League is now divided into the league phase and then the league cup phase (finals) so when I make articles for Indian players, specially those in the ISL, it makes sense to me if the league and league cup are next to each other and then since the domestic cup (Federation Cup) is a completely different competition, it goes after the league cup. Again, this is just how I see it with Indian football player articles and if you want me to go with the MOS when I work on articles on non-Indian players or maybe just change to the MOS completely, I won't be against that. Cheers. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 19:48, 9 January 2016 (UTC)
- As for the 'international' part, I will change it to continental. My default table usually just links to the Asian Football Confederation and instead of international it just says 'AFC'. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 19:49, 9 January 2016 (UTC)
- Awesome, should not be a problem. Cheers. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 19:55, 9 January 2016 (UTC)

User:SWASTIK25
Hi again. I've already used up the 3 edits rule of undoing edits at List of top international association football goal scorers by country. I've already properly put references on the page and every player's stats are in line with reliable sources. Yet this user continues to change stats because of his wants and wrong/flawed beliefs. He has and still continues to become disruptive. GoalsGalore (talk) 13:14, 18 January 2016 (UTC)
- Hi GiantSnowman, you blocked SWASTIK 25 for 1 week and GoalsGalore for 2 days. I think that is not fair with both of them. It was just 2nd block of SWASTIK, his first block was of 31 hours, so his 2nd block should have been of 48 hours. And it is probably 1st block of GoalsGalore, so it should have been of 24 hours. I am saying all this because I myself got blocked 5 times for edit warring, but my longest block was of just 3 days. So I think you were very harsh on SWASTIK. It feels very bad when regular editor gets blocked for long period.--Human3015 It will rain 14:33, 18 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi there GS,
about this matter, found these two sources (please see here http://www.livefutbol.com/cronica/wm-quali-afrika-2006-1-runde-aequatorial-guinea-togo/ and http://www.planetworldcup.com/CUPS/2006/caf1.html), seems his FIFA.com entry is dead beats me why. As you can imagine, of course, I am never going to insert anything in Mr. Barila's article regarding this subject, it stays like you want.
Attentively --84.90.219.128 (talk) 21:21, 18 January 2016 (UTC)
- No reply, and the user after me received one... Was I aggressive or unpolite? Not my intention, but I apologize if you thought I was. Is any of the refs any reliable? If it is, I don't mind (in spite of previous promise) of adding it to article, but if it's not I stay pat of course. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 16:27, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
What about this, kind fellow user (and forget about most of my ramblings here)? Are those refs acceptable or not? You can reply here for more convenience. By the way, his FIFA.com entry is dead, second player I have "encountered" in such a state today. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 18:12, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
- Hence my question, are those refs I presented as example good enough to be inserted? If you deem (at least one of) them so, i'll oblige of course. --84.90.219.128 (talk) 19:11, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

Possible block evasion?
Hi GiantSnowman. I see that you have blocked SWASTIK 25 for edit warring. A new account User:ProudBengali created after that block has been editing SWASTIK 25's user talk and user page. The very first edit made by the new account was to add a barnstar to the talk page of a user they do not seem to have interacted with before, which is a bit unusual. Another edit added a "auto confirmed" template to the user page, which also does not seem like something a new account usually does. Same goes for copying and pasting all of the user boxes being used by SWASTIK 25 onto the new user page. I guess it could be a total coincidence, but I'm wondering if this is a case of WP:DUCK. -- Marchjuly (talk) 10:25, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

Youth/senior career
Okay, but isn't this an error? I think people may confuse the English youth development with the Spanish. I mean, in England, players who are returning from injury can play with the reserves and so on. But in Spain, this is completely different: you have to be 22 or younger to switch between both teams (and I think that if the player appear in more than 10 matches with the main squad, he can't play for the B-side), and those reserve teams actually play in a senior league, differently than England. Should we start a discussion at WT:FOOTY about this? Cheers, MYS77 ✉ 17:27, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
- (TPS)Then, can we write just "2012 Athletic Bilbao" (meaning he can have played - wait, he DID! - for the juniors still in 2012 and then, still in that year, moved to the seniors) instead of "2012-2013 Athletic Bilbao" or that will be removed too? --84.90.219.128 (talk) 17:34, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
- It makes no sense to remove these things when they're actually a correct fact. So, Antonio Sanabria did not win the UEFA Youth League because he was already a senior with the B-team of Barcelona? MYS77 ✉ 17:52, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
- No, of course he did - we are talking about the infobox only here. GiantSnowman 17:53, 19 January 2016 (UTC)

So, GS, please do reply, can I write "2012 Athletic Bilbao" in Mr. Williams' youth infobox or not? --84.90.219.128 (talk) 17:54, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
- I think that is a fair compromise. GiantSnowman 17:56, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
- @MYS77: also please don't forget that the years in the infobox refers to calendar years, not seasons. GiantSnowman 18:01, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
- Sure, but sometimes (and it's not that rare outside UK) a player makes his senior debut and then shortly after is demoted back to the youth setup, to play for them during the season (and the year still). That's what I was asking before. MYS77 ✉ 19:13, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
- It happens in the UK all the time, some youth player making a first-team sub appearance or having a Cup run-out (see e.g. Luke Freeman.) Nevertheless, once a 'senior' career has started it is extremely confusing/misleading to keep the youth career ongoing. That's why we have always done it that way. GiantSnowman 19:16, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
- Ah, maybe it's because the youth system in the UK is very confusing by itself, TBH... But I'll accept this version, no worries. Cheers, MYS77 ✉ 22:19, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
Uncivil edits made
Hi GS have a look at these IP edits. Regarding their original revision at List of cities in Germany by population, I'm not convinced they have technical reasons against it, but it seems more they are just making a point. My version of the article is directly cited to City Mayors and has far less of the other years (uncited). Also, see some further uncivil post at my talk page, though is a different IP. Thanks. Poorly updated articles
Hi, just want to know what I should do with articles like 2013–14 Panetolikos F.C. season and 2013–14 RCD Mallorca season. They have been created and then not updated and I dont know if they should be deleted or what do be done? I think they are notable. I dont have the time or power or interest to update them myself. Editor to keep an eye on
Hey GS, just thought I let you know about ESPN Cricket n Football (talk · contribs). An account that was created today and has been quick to make edits on the Mohun Bagan page and cricketing pages, pages that were of interest to User:SWASTIK 25. Not only is the article editing pattern similar but also the edit summaries like "corrected" and "modified". Cheers. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 18:32, 24 January 2016 (UTC)

Recent block
Hi, I think you know who I am referring to, but I don't want to add any more to that page. At first I thought the guy deserved a break so I went in to play devil's advocate, as reducing the block may have removed his temptation to sock further. But in the meantime he has just kept digging the hole deeper with his attacks upon you. You clearly made the right call. AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 01:23, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

Could you please take a look? Qed237 (talk) 10:51, 27 January 2016 (UTC)
Changes to Kevin Kewley bio
First off, I'm not sure I am in the correct place to communicate with you, so please let me know if there is a better avenue to discuss the edits to Kevin Kewley's page.
I'm not 100% sure what you are referring to about disruptive editing.
Kevin requested that his birth date be removed, so I posted that in the edit summary. I subsequently realized that there were other areas where it was posted, so I removed it from there too. Then I updated his profile to be current and added his coaching career and some references (since his page was lacking in that area). The birth year is not even correct. I suspect that the people posting that information are getting it from the same source.
From what I read on https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons#Privacy_of_personal_information_and_using_primary_sources, for living persons, birthdays are considered private information and unless widely reported should be removed when requested.
I'm not sure why you removed the specific years he coached professionally at each organization? I also think coaching collegiate teams to conference titles would be important from a biographical standpoint.
Is the primary way that I caused an issue, that I kept adding new content instead of doing it in one batch? Sorry, I don't have much experience at this and I don't want to do it incorrectly. I just want to help some professional coaches from the Wichita community update their bios, and I definitely don't want to be a nuisance.Alfreema (talk) 19:44, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

SWASTIK 25
Hi, I have not had the time to look in to it to much, but could you please have a look at My Motherland (talk · contribs) and see if it is a sock of SWASTIK 25 (talk · contribs)? Or should I try SPI?
SWASTIK 25 created articles like List of international cricket centuries by David Warner and List of Big Bash League centuries (both now edited by My Motherland) and also articles like List of batsmen who have scored 50,000 or more runs in all forms of recognized cricket which seems like a similar article name created by My Motherland List of Indian batsmen who have scored more than 5000 ODI runs.
Both claims to be 19 years old from india (compare this diff from SWASTIK 25 userpage and this diff from userpage of My Motherland).
They both write in a similar way on their talkpages (see diffs above):
- SWASTIK 25: Hi! everyone. I'm Swastik Chakraborty (...) I'm very much interested in sports, particularly, cricket and football. (...) Currently, I am pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in English at the Faculty of Arts, Banaras Hindu University.
- My Motherland: Hi everyone! I'm My Motherland from India. I'm a 19 years old undergraduate student, (...) I'm very enthusiastic about sports, especially Cricket, Soccer and to some extent, the Olympics (...)
The final puzzle is the final edit of SWASTIK 25 on 26 January and My Motherland made his first edit 19 minutes after the last edit of SWASTIK 25.
It looks like WP:DUCK, but I am not an expert, you are the admin. Qed237 (talk) 21:45, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Bbb23: I just realised GS may not be editing more today so I ping Bbb23 as the editor who tagged SWASTIK 25. Qed237 (talk) 21:55, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
- Gee, this is a funny place to have a mini SPI. Am I supposed to check GiantSnowman or My Motherland? :-) My Motherland (talk · contribs · count) is Confirmed, blocked, and tagged. I've deleted the two new articles.--Bbb23 (talk) 22:13, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Bbb23: Sorry about that and appologies to GiantSnowman as well for using his talkpage a bit to much. I did not feel like opening a SPI for this very clear case so thought I should talk to GS who had been involved in the past (I think). Next time I will do a proper SPI. Qed237 (talk) 22:59, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
- Oh, I don't think GS will mind at all. He'll focus on the prevention of further disruption. Take care.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:33, 28 January 2016 (UTC)

Outdated article
Hi, I contacted you before regarding 2013–14 Panetolikos F.C. season and an other article (see User talk:GiantSnowman/2016#Poorly updated articles) and you told me to redirect them (see User talk:Qed237#Poor articles). Now an editor opposes the redirect (diff) and reverted my edit so what should I do now? In what way have I done any vandalism? I've never vandalised a page on here and cannot see why you have falsely accused me of such things. If anything you're more guilty of that by undoing a correction I made and made it incorrect again. Think before accusing. ThanksPawac (talk) 16:26, 31 January 2016 (UTC)
- Maybe you should try communicating with people and actually check what you're undoing before recklessly undoing and accusing. if you had paid attention to what you were doing you would not have undone an edit correcting wrong info (conveniently ignored that one) and removing a link. Then I wouldn't have undone your edit as all I could see was you undoing the correction and removing a link. Okay, good. Pawac (talk) 17:00, 31 January 2016 (UTC)
- False. You did not re-format with the correct stats as you will see here and you did not clearly explain it. I did not blindly revert it, I actually DID explain in my edit summery that you removed the correct stats here Clearly only one of us needs to pay attention in the future. sad that you have to lie. chill & move on. - It's telling that you have to make things up, grow up. I never blindly edited and always explained why I was making the edits, the proof is there. It was moved by a now indef blocked sockpuppet, and the only ref on the article this from basketball.eurobasket.com) says his name is Ulug. This article got AfD message on it, but I dont think it has been added correctly to the AFD process. Hello GS; can you advise how best to proceed with regard to above page. It was created out of a re-direct, relating to the surname 'Merla', by a very new editor who initially just blanked the page. That was quickly restored by another editor but the page was subsequently re-created by the 'new' editor as a page about a company named 'Merla'. It looks to me like promotional or advertising material and is without references. The new ed. also has only edited that page so possibly also COI. Can you help please? IP contributions
Hi GS, can you have a look at these IP edits. It's a possible sock of Alexiulian given the first page edited, and recently I'm finding a number of similarly-themed reversions of some of my edits by normally single-account IP's, usually with an uncivil talk page post (this one not as bad as some). I've reverted the Nacional edits. Regards. Eldumpo (talk) 10:22, 6 February 2016 (UTC)

Homosexuality in association football contains the sentence:

Hello GS,
I don't know if you remember the probs over the death of Danny Light where Ian King (author CPFC complete record 1905–2011) posted in the CPFC BBS forum that he had died. Similar situation has arisen with Brennan. Ian posted in the forum on 13 October and CPFC official twitter posted on 15 October. DoD at 15 October was added, by another editor, to both Brennan's page and deaths in 2015 using a scraper/mirror site (deadfamous) as ref. It was removed from 'deaths' as unreliable so I removed it from Brennan accordingly. I've now found details at Hugman's which gives the DoD as 13 August. Ian King just said 'recently'. CPFC tweet didn't give a date. Is Hugman regarded as sufficiently reliable? I've updated the page per Hugman but can easily undo it if necessary. Thanks. Regards, Eagleash (talk) 13:11, 14 February 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'll use Hugmans' DoD (13 August). Eagleash (talk) 14:59, 14 February 2016 (UTC)

Alexiulian socks
First things first. Could you please block this IP: User:2a02:2f05:3f:ffff::5679:6d6a. That being said, I'd like a second opinion on this issue. I have been tracking this guy's socks for a while and more or less indiscriminately reverting his edits. For the most part, Alexiulian had let those reversions stand, until now. Most of the edits are inconsequential, but a few, like this one, would be basically constructive if they weren't in such obvious violation of a block. As result, I'm concerned that my edits are becoming pointy. Do grind my teeth and let him have this one? Do I keep reverting? Do I request semi-protection of all UEFA Cup articles (that seems excessive, but it would solve the problem)? Let me know what you think. Sir Sputnik (talk) 17:15, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
- I am here to do constructive edits how I did with Uefa CUP seasons, by creating infoboxes! I want to improve Wikipedia not to damage the project ! Talk with me please ! I want to know what will happen with this notable and constructive edits ?! We are a team already, with my cousins, broathers, neighbours we can not use only one account ! What to do ? Thank you!--2A02:2F05:3F:FFFF:0:0:5679:6D6A (talk) 17:22, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
- We are all ready to improve Wikipedia with infoboxes and constructive edits ! We read all the policies and we are prepared to not revert edits or involve in distuptive edits ! We will ask someone else all the time in this cases!--2A02:2F05:3F:FFFF:0:0:5679:6D6A (talk) 17:30, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
- Sorry to jump in here GS, but I have noticed you reverting his edits Sir Sputnik. Part of me thinks it is a bit pointy as a lot of what he is doing seems to be genuinely constructive (as noted in what he posted above while I was typing this), but I also understand that he has been blocked for serious socking and is trying to get around it. From this he is obviously prepared to enter into discussion. Is it worth trying to point him in the direction of WP:UTRS? A lot of socks are just a pain, but I can't help but feel that he is just trying to help out and that he is not going to stop using random IPs and so is never going to be unblocked. It might be harsh but I think that we should continue to revert all edits from him with boiler plate notices posted to IP talk pages explaining we know who he is and to remind him of this thread and that he will never get any worthwhile content to stick until, like everyone else he adheres to it. Fenix down (talk) 17:31, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
- Also, Alexiulian is decided to stay 6 months (5 months left) to be his punishment, but us, we are totally prepared and wait for your confirmation to can create accounts and start improve ! We also (the neighbour with his cousin and a part of gypsies nephew friends) start an English class and we are ready to improve Wikipedia and also we are ready to come to UK and to become ENGLISH citizen like you guys ! We should be all as a family!--2A02:2F05:3F:FFFF:0:0:5679:6D6A (talk) 17:38, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
- So you should understand that we are a big family, 12 sibblings, 21 cousins, (and more then 10 interested to do constructive edits including a few neighbors) and we can not suffer all because of alex mistake!--2A02:2F05:3F:FFFF:0:0:5679:6D6A (talk) 17:42, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
- You should appreciate that this is quite a serious situation (for WP at least), by continuing to edit when blocked, any substantial contribution you make will be reverted and until you stop this, you will never be unblocked. YOu are also mistaken in thinking that you have five months until you are unblocked. Re-read your talk page, you have been blocked indefinitely. The six month timeframe is the minimum you need to spend away from WP. As you have not stopped using sock puppets, this is still six months, and probably now much longer. Fenix down (talk) 17:47, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
- Also, please consider that we did not work and not afford to buy computers or laptops so we all share a small LAN ! But, we hope once we get to UK and claim benefits we will afford to buy more laptops and help you guys to improve this encyclopedia! And maybe we will be neighbors once we come in England! You should be understanding also and be our broathers too! We only have one queen !! God save the Queen !--2A02:2F05:3F:FFFF:0:0:5679:6D6A (talk) 17:49, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

@Sir Sputnik and Fenix down: - I have blocked and reverted per WP:DENY. Alex if you are reading this then the correct way to go about this is WP:OFFER. GiantSnowman 17:56, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
- We are more person sharing a computer, we do not afford our personal computer, we live 4 in one room, is not an easy life in Romania! What do you suggest? To create separate accounts and specify which is which (cousin, nephew, neighbor) or ... ? We can use all the same account, because we can not edit in same time because we also can use the computer of the neighbor across the street. We romanians are more close to each other, we visit our neighbors and make friends with their kids, we are not distant with neighbors as you British are! We share everything, even food, clothes or computers!--2A02:2F05:F:FFFF:0:0:567C:FCB0 (talk) 17:58, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

- You're not helping yourself, you're just wasting your time editing as all that is going to happen is it will be reverted from now on. I did have some sympathy for you previously, but your comments here are not constructive, though they indicate you clearly understand what is going on. Fenix down (talk) 18:00, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
- @Fenix down: While we're discussing this, do either of you know if there's a way to easily track edits from an IPv6 range? I've been using xtools to track him, but that only works for IPv4. Sir Sputnik (talk) 18:04, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
- OK I accept with a simple and easy condition, we will stop (even we can generate unlimited IPs for all of my broathers) and get the punishment and respect the law!!! (so it should be). And with this we save your time also!! THE condition: You set a CLOCK on my page with 6 months going down second by second to let anyone know (now, the majority knows about alexiulian) that I am coming back and I did not left forever! I will respect the punishment like in prison, and I will look forward in 6 months that we can edit again ! By then we will improve the English. OK ??--86.121.111.53 (talk) 18:18, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

Alex, there is no ability for us to put a countdown on your user page - but if you come back on 15 August 2016, having not edited the English-language Wikipedia during that time, then WP:OFFER is open for you. However if you continue to make threats to mass-revert or mass-sock I will seek a site-ban and you will never be allowed back. OK? GiantSnowman 18:29, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
- I would argue a site ban is already in order, given the fairly extreme level recidivism. I'll work up an WP:AN post and let you know when I'm done. Sir Sputnik (talk) 18:33, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

- IT ALL DEPENDS ON ME GUYS !! and I will take the site-ban till 15 August 2016 (because I am a nice guy)! It will be the best option TO CAN STOP DOING CONSTRUCTIVE EDITS ! - Yes, it does depend on you. Do I guarantee that you will be unblocked on 15 August 2016? No, I cannot do that. However, if you are able to show that you have learnt from your block, i.e. that you are now able to edit constructively and in collaboration with other editors, then I see no reason why you will not be unblocked. GiantSnowman 18:44, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

- @Sir Sputnik: - I suggest you hold off on the ANI site-ban thread for now. It is unlikely it would pass and you would just be wasting your time. GiantSnowman 18:52, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
- I find that hard to believe, and very disappointing if it's true. I assume you've seen the personal attacks he's made against Eldumpo. He's made a few against me, including one that was apparently so egregious that it had to be removed from the public archive. He's made baseless allegations of misconduct against the two of us. And now he's threatening even more disruption. If that's not ban worthy, I honestly don't know what is. That being said I will hold of on the ANI thread. I'm not entirely sure if I believe hims, but if he's serious about accepting the standard offer, a ban motion would likely provoke more sockpuppetry. We'll find out soon enough I guess. Sir Sputnik (talk) 19:08, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
- Exactly - a user made threats to sock but has come to his senses and has agreed to go away for 6 months and then come back per OFFER? That won't pass. If he evades the block again, or makes more threats, then I'll start ANI thread myself. GiantSnowman 19:18, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

New user posts
See these contributions, I think they might be Alexiulian, although in any case unlikely to be a completely new user. See also post they've made at ANI. My posts were reflecting the sources. @Sir Sputnik: @Qed237: Eldumpo (talk) 21:32, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
- @Eldumpo: I dont have much time to look in to it at the moment, but from what I can see it is not the typical articles edited by Alexiulian so I dont think it is him. But on the other hand you can never be sure. However, as you say it does not look like it is a completely new editor. Qed237 (talk) 21:42, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
- @Eldumpo: I think this editors contributions are suspicious enough that it might be worthwhile to get some CheckUser evidence in this case. That being said, I agree with QED. My gut reaction is that this is not Alexiulian. They're ANI post in particular lacks the language errors I would expect from him. Sir Sputnik (talk) 21:45, 22 February 2016 (UTC)

George Harrison - Footballer
Good evening,
Thanks for your message regarding my updates to the George Harrison page and references. I recently discovered his grave and, working with Everton and the EFC Heritage Society, his grave was recently marked. The information that I am adding was compiled by the EFC Heritage Society in a booklet that they produced for the short unveiling ceremony, would it be possible for you to add this in the reference section. Most of what I will be adding is from the same source.
Best wishes — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thesouthderbyshirehistorian (talk • contribs) 19:01, 1 March 2016 (UTC)
George Harrison - footballer source of info
Hello,
The booklet was distributed to guests and is titled 'EFC Heritage Society, George Harrison, 1892-1939'. They researched George and included the information in the booklet (some contributions from myself also). There is no reference to any particular author as it was mainly put together by various people.

Mahrez
Hi GiantSnowman, you undid an edit of mine on Riyad Mahrez's page citing that scoring a goal is not a notable achievement. However, if you go back to the edit you'll find that it not only refers to the goal he scored but a also to a personal seasonal milestone and the importance of the goal in the scheme of the season. Surely that's worth considering? Not making a thing of it but just wondering if that wouldn't make it notable enough. Cheers, Liam E. Bekker (talk) 20:32, 5 March 2016 (UTC)
- I was asking. Similar references to seasonal landmarks are made on Wayne Rooney's page (see para 4 in 2009-10 season) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Liam E. Bekker (talk • contribs) 20:49, 5 March 2016 (UTC)
- "While not a strict OSE reasoning, the overarching concept remains, that of precedent and consistency throughout the Wikipedia project." - that's what I took from all of that. Anyway, I don't mind that it was reverted. I just wanted to know your reasons for doing so. Thanks for all the changes to the Dennis van der Heijden page too. Liam E. Bekker (talk) 20:57, 5 March 2016 (UTC)
- I was under the impression that personal milestones were worthy of inclusion. As you explained, this particular one is not and though I don't necessarily agree with you (as I don't feel it's just another goal as stated above) I've got no problem accepting it. Liam E. Question about a userpage
Just a quick question about a userpage. Does User:Fabio Rafael Eidelwein comply with policy? I'm not quite sure whether it violates Wikipedia:FAKEARTICLE. The person in question seems real, at least according to this source but hasn't played at a league level in Germany that would justify an article. Regards, Calistemon (talk) 23:38, 7 March 2016 (UTC)
I'm ready
After my TV/internet server overhaul, I have this IP (I have some concerns that it may be dynamic, at least it was after I shut it down/connected it the first time).
It will be much more practical for everybody overall (for contact purposes) if I just create another account, sick and tired of letting that Benfica punk think he won (and by the way he's till there, leaving summaries full of HATRED for Porto, Sporting and sometimes even Benfica coaches/president/players, and he even swears/taunts when presenting his unblock defence! So, if you please, can you reinstate my previous user page "goodies" under WaxOnWaxOff, if no naming violations occur? A small tribute to Pat Morita, and the fact that we do a lot of "scrubbing" (updates, undoing idiocies) around here?

- So, what are the options? Can you create a new account with my suggestion then add just the basic technicalities. I remember you wrote something to the effect of "X is a Portuguese editor who... the beautiful game", then to the right we had a column with my language skills (LEVEL 4 English, 4 French, 4 Spanish), and the thing I now (I suppose) have to earn again, my reviewer rights. --2001:8A0:7648:6001:78E8:BCD7:2FB9:C7D5 (talk) 22:07, 8 March 2016 (UTC)

Just a minute
Hi GS. I came across the following footballers who played less than half of a single match in FPL.
- Artyom Vasev (90th minute sub on 7 July 2013), no appearances before or since
- Artyom Pshenichnikov (23 minutes played as sub on 30 Oct 2010), no appearances before or since
- Baba Ndaw Seck (90th minute sub on 16 November 2013), no appearances before or since
- I'm sure there's more, that's just "A", but is there a precedent here? Batch AfD? Something else? Thanks, C679 16:03, 9 March 2016 (UTC)
Rules and copyright
Hi, look at 2016 UEFA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament and tell me if rules are copyright? It is not something we can change and modify of our own. Mighty GS,
1 - I have copied some basics from another fellow user's page, please add/correct anything if you see it fit; 2 - even with an account, I am still "forced" to enter the "letterage" whenever I insert a source to my edits, is this normal?

Reverting shirt numbers
Hello,
I saw that you were reverting some edits of shirt numbers on some football pages I created. From what I've seen, the edits that the IP-logged user made was changes that also were on the only references given in the articles. I wonder why you felt the need to revert those edits. I'm going to revert back to the correct numbers given in the references in the article which is trustworthy. I wonder how you felt you contributed to the Wikipedia community by these reverts, thank you for reading. // Psemmler (talk) 21:12, 15 March 2016 (UTC)
Welcome to WP, BQAL... I will reinstate it, believe me. --Be Quiet AL (talk) 22:05, 15 March 2016 (UTC)
- Seems kind fellow user User:Drmies has picked up the slack, I tipped him because it would be, in all likelihood, very difficult to arrange sources in English (obscure Dutch player, albeit international, retired almost 20 years ago). I have already removed the second part of the previous message, it seemed like I was asking if you had anything against me and that is not fair to you. I do admit I was seething when I saw your removal, but I know (for the 1,000000000th time, I bet you are tired of hearing the same over and over again) it was for the good of the project. --Be Quiet AL (talk) 01:34, 16 March 2016 (UTC)
I also did a bit now, profitting from one external link as reference as much as I hate it tough. I have not reinstated anything about his Lokeren spell, and I have not touched the tags you inserted, not for me to do. --Be Quiet AL (talk) 03:48, 16 March 2016 (UTC)
- @Be Quiet AL and Drmies: - I didn't claim there was a BLP violation, I claimed there was unsourced content - and also POV, just look at "Peeper met diverse fates: after three solid years [...] one unassuming spell with lowly", completely inappropriate. Also we don't need English-language sources, you should know that by now. GiantSnowman 08:08, 16 March 2016 (UTC)
- I rewrote the somewhat flowery language, as you saw, and I know you didn't make that claim--I don't really like restoring unsourced content, so I thought I'd try to be comprehensive in my edit summary. Drmies (talk) 15:30, 16 March 2016 (UTC)
I understand. I have done more, are the tags good to go or not? --Be Quiet AL (talk) 16:07, 16 March 2016 (UTC)
- Looks good to me. What do you say, GS? Hey, AL, thanks for working on those little articles for minor players--they are also important. I feel for that guy, such promise. I wish you could read the (Dutch) article I added: he had a tough career. Drmies (talk) 16:32, 16 March 2016 (UTC)
Thank you both! Two more refs added, but I still ain't touching those tags until someone 1 - removes them; 2 - tells me I can remove. --Be Quiet AL (talk) 17:38, 16 March 2016 (UTC)
- @Be Quiet AL and Drmies: a lot better, cheers guys! GiantSnowman 17:56, 16 March 2016 (UTC)
Jamie Vardy / BLP privacy
We had a message on Talk:Jamie Vardy asking us to remove reference to a Mail on Sunday article which named his biological father. As said Mail article has been deleted, I found it necessary to remove the link.
However, I am not sure about the BLP policy on this. The story has also been reported, not just in tabloid junk like the Star and Metro but in another Star, that of Sheffield [10] which I am sure has higher journalistic integrity and through being based in the city would be instantly held accountable if breaking someone's privacy.
Do you have any ideas on the policy? '''tAD''' (talk) 23:20, 16 March 2016 (UTC)

Userpage move
Hi, it looks like User:MarvinHumesMad has been moving his userpage around, for example to MarvinHumesMad and Bedclub FM Summertime Ball (both now deleted). His userpage now redirects to User:Bedclub FM Summertime Ball, but I want to check with you if that is okay because I can not see that he actually has changed username? If you could take a look and see if everything is okay, that would be great. Thank you. Qed237 (talk) 11:17, 5 April 2016 (UTC)
Hi GS, can you have a look at the recent edits at this article relating to an attendance summary table, and recent posts at my talk page. As far as I can tell, the link being claimed to show this info just leads to a series of forum-type posts, whether it is the official Twitter/Weibo page or not. I can't see how you get the images he has posted at my talk page, but even if they are there (and the source is regarded as appropriate), is the presence of attendance info for individual matches per week enough that the summary attendance table should remain at the article? Also, when I last looked the positions by round source wasn't working for round 2 so not sure if that is ok to remain. Regards. Eldumpo (talk) 22:42, 7 April 2016 (UTC)
Hi GS. Hours ago, you said that official twitter, the source of League attendance, is not a reliable source and it is illegal. But I want to tell you that those images mentioned in last paragraph are from official Super League Company and you can look at them carefully. More importantly, CSL(Chinese Super League) company decided that they are not going to set any official website. It is replaced by the official Weibo(Twitter) from sina.com. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zwq950117 (talk • contribs) 13:52, 9 April 2016 (UTC)
Even if you think that those images are not reliable, I don't think so. You can check those 3 pictures. This is the only official site.
"Minor" edits and "clean up using AWB"
Hello. Please, in future, don't mark edits as minor when your edit doesn't satisfy the definition of a minor edit. As I'm sure you're aware, "A check to the minor edit box signifies that only superficial differences exist between the current and previous versions. Examples include typographical corrections, formatting and presentational changes, and rearrangements of text without modification of its content."
As to Fred Pentland, there's a difference between unsourced and un-inlinesourced. I think it's a pity that an editor of your experience should feel the need to gut a well-researched and well-written article about an interesting and important character in the history of football (nothing to do with me, so I can say that) just because whoever did write it didn't use inline sourcing. If it were a BLP, it'd be another matter. It does the encyclopedia no favours. Struway2 (talk) 09:43, 9 April 2016 (UTC)
Scotland players
I know you went on a bit of a project about a year ago to prepare articles for every Scotland international. I have recently reconciled the category numbers with the list I keep in my own space. I think the total should be 1165. The category page says there are 1163, but in fact there are 1164 in the category (I don't know why this discrepancy arises). The missing article is William Fulton — the article it is linked to (William Fulton (footballer)) was taken by a different player of about 20 years later, prepared just before you prepared the other missing articles. Recently you undid edits I made on this page. Do not do this again. If you had taken the time to simply Google the player, you would see that he indeed does play for the team I had said he did. He moved clubs in 2015. If you oversee this page, it is your own incompetence which led to it being so out of date. Please do NOT undo edits without a source. national-football-teams.com is NOT a reliable source, it's as accurate as transfermarkt or soccerway, sometimes even less so. While those websites are helpful, you cannot base a whole page's information on them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Davidlofgren1996 (talk • contribs)
Pentland infobox
Hello. Just to point out that the club rows in the infobox have been consistent in the horizontal format ever since the box was changed from the linebreak-delimited format six years ago. WP:MOS says that where there's a choice of acceptable formats, which in this case there is, we're supposed to go with the original/established format unless we have a non-style-dependent reason for change, i.e. we're not supposed to change to our own preferred format just because. I hate scrolling down miles of vertical format, but I have to do it every week at Clayton Donaldson because that's the format it's stable in. The last time this came up at WT:FOOTY that I remember was Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Archive 90#Infobox spacing.
And you've reinstated some of the mistakes from the original infobox, including Small Heath as youth rather than senior club, incorrect years for Halifax/Stoke, and omitted second Halifax spell. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 18:01, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what makes you think that the way the parameters are laid out at the documentation – I imagine vertical format is standard in that situation, for ease of seeing – makes that format in some way uniquely correct. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 18:33, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
- Some editors find one layout easier to work with, some prefer the other, and I daresay some don't care. But that's not what I'm on about. You seem to be saying that only the vertical format is correct, and therefore your changing horizontally-formatted boxes is justifiable because you're not imposing your own preference, you're correcting an error. Now if that's true, where would I find confirmation? cheers, Struway2 (talk) 08:32, 12 April 2016 (UTC)
- The documentation sets out what the parameters are called, whether they're optional or compulsory, what they're used for, and what type of content they expect. That's the stuff we're supposed to follow. I've never seen anything, anywhere, to say that we're also required to follow the exact layout of the documentation, and if we don't it's an error and should be changed. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 17:48, 12 April 2016 (UTC)
- Of course I have: the note below the Usage heading says explicitly that I'm supposed to. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 19:20, 12 April 2016 (UTC)

Fred Titmus
Is there any reason why you've decimated the copy on the cricketer, Fred Titmus, removing reference to most of his career aside from his Test seasons? Johnlp (talk) 23:04, 14 April 2016 (UTC)
- Most of the material you removed can be referenced and de-POV-ed. A better and more courteous way of proceeding might be to flag up the areas of concern, alert the relevant project (WP:CRIC) where this is an article of some importance, and then chase people there to improve it. I'm going to revert your edit and do just that, with the intention of returning myself to it at some point in the near future. I don't disagree that it's unsatisfactory as it is, but slash-and-burn is not improving it. Have you done this with other cricket articles? Johnlp (talk) 10:58, 15 April 2016 (UTC)
- You might, however, consider using the Refimprove template rather than just removing content. WP consists of articles in many states of unfinishedness and need of improvement; your method may be bold, but it does nothing to improve anything. Johnlp (talk) 11:09, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
- And I would disagree with you. You've been around for a long time (as I have) and you know that standards 10 years ago weren't as rigorous as they are today. The fact that it is unreferenced doesn't mean it is not true; merely that with today's tightened standards we ought to try to improve it with references. Can I just ask that if you come across cricketers in your trawls, you refer them across to me or to the cricket project rather than just sharpen your axe. We can't keep an eye on every article that's been created. Thanks. Johnlp (talk) 12:32, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

I've read through all the information on the commons regarding uploading but I'm still not sure if I'm going to be using an image that infringes copyright or not. Liam E. Bekker (talk) 21:26, 22 April 2016 (UTC)
- I was going to use images from Getty Images because they generally allow for their photos to be embedded in website articles etc. but I'm not sure if that applies here. Liam E. Bekker (talk) 22:14, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
- I'll definitely have a look there, thank you. Liam E. Bekker (talk) 08:02, 25 April 2016 (UTC)

Hi GS, can you see how the text at the first part of this sub-section has been entered. When I go to edit the text is not there, and I can't see an obvious template. You can also see from recent edits there is some evidence of citation tags being removed without inserting sources. Regards. Eldumpo (talk) 20:08, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
- Further to above can you have a quick look at this edit. Vasconia is re-adding uncited material, removing citation tags, re-adding material not as per sources, and re-adding cites which do not directly support the facts. It is also noted that the article is solely cited from a single (primary) source. I went back and added some cn tags for the infobox items, but there's no evidence at present that this info is being collated. Regards. Eldumpo (talk) 18:43, 25 April 2016 (UTC)
User:Football_Statistics
Hey GS, hope you are doing well. Just thought I inform you about the newly created User:Football statistician. Bit odd that this account was just started and went straight into the editing phase, esspecially on pages of a team our old friend SWAT edited and with some similarities. Not saying it is 100% him but surely is a user to keep an eye on. Cheers. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 07:39, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
- Hello, User:GiantSnowman! I am the newly joined User:Football statistician, User:ArsenalFan700 was talking about to you. As I am just about 2 days old here in Wikipedia and used to edit pages previously, but without an account. So, one of the senior users advised me to open an account which I did. I also followed User:ArsenalFan700's profile very closely to decorate my own user page. And till now in Wikipedia and even in my personal life, I don't know any one named SWAT. If I have caused any problem, please let me know so that I can rectify. Thank you. You can find some of my edits without an account here and here. Please stop to vandalize the page. All the things that I have added come from the official website (I do NOT invent anything). Important topic
Please! Stop ignoring me and not listen me. I am not adding unsourced content, because the content comes from the official website and Wikipedia's internal links. I do not know how change this situation to improve the article, but with your attitude of threats and blocks as a gangster are not the solution to this small dispute.
In addition, Eldumpo is changing the links of the teams to redirect links and removing references and I am fixing up this mistakes, but you are blocking me.--Vasconia (talk)

I'll see what I can find, but just to confirm there were indeed two William Hendersons playing for Brompton around 1908, in fact they played together in the same team a number of times.... -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 21:33, 26 April 2016 (UTC)
Cherno More
Hi. I already contacted User:Dweller but you can give a hand, as well. Take a look at PFC Cherno More Varna article history and its talk page. This guy, User:Okalinov, is vadalising club history for a long time (here and bg wiki). You don't have to be too familiar with Bulgarian football to bind things together. Will need a help with cleaning up his previous edits.--Rebelheartous (talk) 13:26, 30 April 2016 (UTC) Hallo there, as you can see I have not "vandalized" the article. It reflects a short history of the club as it is in the club's history books given in the references underneath. The official founding year is 1913 as the former badge of the club says. The user above is trying to change officially acknowledged history. Best regards Okalinov (talk) 13:44, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
Hallo, Sir. I see you took sides with guy who can't even put a decent argument on the Bulgarian talk page. I disagree with me being the disruptive one. I wrote this page a few months ago and everything was undisrupted until he came with his visions of writing a new history of the club. I did not remove any sources. I have added extra information which can be sourced from the Bulgarian books pointed out in the references. Best regards Okalinov (talk) 15:20, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
Thanks for your answer. I am using the talk page as you can see. The other guy isn't. He deleted my article without proper arguments relying on his acquaintances I suppose. Okalinov (talk) 15:52, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
Hi GS, can you have a look at recent edits made by Vasconia to this article please. He continues to re-add information not supported by the sources. Regards. Eldumpo (talk) 16:59, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks, a pity in a way they've had to be blocked, but they just weren't understanding that items need to be sourced and notable, and there was probably some ownership issues as well. Eldumpo (talk) 18:56, 30 April 2016 (UTC)

Hi GiantSnowman, sorry for the bother but as soon as you blocked The IPs I had mentioned on Bbb23's talk page a suspicious new user has sprung up called Jun Davidson. As you see their contributions here this user sprang up almost immediately after you blocked the IPs that were mentioned. Also compare Wit Ronni's edit to one of the IP's edit and now to Jun Davidson's edit. Not definitive but WP:DUCK they all look like the same user. Adam Hobbs
I'm a bit unsure about the Adam Hobbs article. It clearly fails notability guidelines but am I right to prod the article or should it go to AFD? The article was nominated for speedy deletion by another editor but it was declined. Does this fall under has not previously been proposed for deletion mentioned in Wikipedia:Proposed deletion and therefore disqualify it from being PRODed? Additionally, the same creator previously created Adam hobbs, which was nominated for speedy deletion by me yesterday after blanking by the creator and deleted. Is PRODing the article the correct thing to do or should it be AFDed? Your advice would be appreciated. Calistemon (talk) 07:05, 19 May 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarification. Should the creator or somebody else object to the PROD I will probably take it to AFD. I checked the player up on Weltfussball and he is real but has only ever played at Regionalliga level which makes him non-notable. Calistemon (talk) 07:11, 19 May 2016 (UTC)

Hello GS, I wonder if you advise the correct way to deal with some low-level not very constructive editing on the above page. I stumbled on it yesterday and noted the over-sized image which disrupted the page and text. I reduced it and it was immediately reverted by an IP who seems to only edit that page (mainly) and is constantly changing the image size. I then left some advice on their talk-page whereupon the image size was increased still further. At that point I tagged it for image size etc. It has now been reduced by a small amount but still appears too big and in my browser (admittedly set to +10%) reduces some lines of squeezed text to one word only. (It has also been edited by a user calling themselves Eriksommer.) Thanks. Regards, Eagleash (talk) 13:53, 24 May 2016 (UTC)
- Sorry, forgot to pop back to say thanks. In the meantime the page has been edited by a different IP (dynamic) which geolocates to New York, as did the previous one. The second IP has also edited the article previously and made few, if any, edits to other pages. Possible COI too? Eagleash (talk) 06:08, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
- OK, thanks. The 'original' IP has now returned and removed the maintenance tags without making any changes. I haven't restored them or left any message as some of the issues were partly addressed earlier. Eagleash (talk) 12:05, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks. I notice that the 'other' IP has also returned and removed the maintenance tags after you last restored them. Eagleash (talk) 06:55, 27 May 2016 (UTC)

About limit regarding offenses
Hi GS, sorry to bother you but I need some native-English speaker advice. I reverted one user and next thing I got was to be called fascist. That user also victimizes himself suggesting I am stalking him, but I only saw that edit on my watchlist and that is the only one I reverted. I had some encounters with hi, in the past, it is a problematic account with main intention of promoting Montenegrin nationalism in an anti-Serbian perspective and remove all mention of Serbia or Serbs (you can confirm his contributions). Now, the thing is that despite me knowing this, I never engage in PA's, while he called me intentionally "fascist" there, not in a "editing fascist" style, but he really means fascist as from fascism (he actually really wants to promote an immaginary relationship between Serbs and fascism as seen here for instance). I was personally attacked and offended (my family incudes various members victims of fascism during WWII), also offended racially (he highlighted my nationality for no reason) and all just because I made a revert of his edit claiming consensus from the respective WikiProject the article beloongs to. Till now I didnt reacted and didnt do anything besides coming here for your advice, but I feel very outraged.
The advice I need from you is the following, I noteced trough many years at ANI different approaches towards PA's. Sometimes I saw nasty insults being ignored but also slightest forms of subtile personal attacks being punished severily. From what I saw it all depends on the perception. In this case he calling me a fascist was done in the real insultive way, he did it surely thinking I wouldn't bother to report him, or that would fly as just "oh dont be a pussy, yu can handle being called a fascist cant you? Not a big deal". But actually it is a big deal and poisons the environment in an already sensitive area which is the Balkans. I certainly woudnt dare calling no one a fascist and if so I would expect a hard punishment. But how woulld it look to a normal Englishman? ANI? FkpCascais (talk) 16:43, 9 June 2016 (UTC)
- Many thanks GS, FkpCascais (talk) 23:56, 9 June 2016 (UTC)
- I accept the warning, as personal attacks do not have a place on Wikipedia. However, I would like to point your attention to my efforts to clear the articles from nationalist propaganda and historical revisionism are constantly undermined (hence the mention of stalking) by a group of editors (most notably Zoupan, 23 editor and FkpCascais), who are attempting to counter accusations of their political bias by accusing me of being nationalist or anti-Serb or whatever label they feel like attaching to me on a given day. I've been editing English Wikipedia for almost 10 years now, and I know this type of users and their modus operandi quite well, so please do not treat me as a villain and them as innocent victims of a big bad Montenegrin wolf, as that is as far as it gets from the truth. - The source of the club was not provided initially. And being a director does not give you the right to abuse others by calling them vandal. By cons, you have violated the rules of etiquette. To return to the subject, even if the club confirmed the coach was not presented and has never led the team. So it is not appropriate to specify the infobox.--Panam2014 (talk) 18:25, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
- I do not agree with your argument. The infobox should summarize the article, it does not matter to specify all destinations of the coach , even when never led in the game. User:Farmnation
Would is your oppinion on the edits of User talk:Farmnation? Despite numerous warnings by a number of editors, including myself, the user continues to add external links to articles that, in my opinion, violate both WP:BAREURLS and WP:REFSPAM. Calistemon (talk) 09:20, 4 July 2016 (UTC)
- No worries, thanks for the reply but I don't think I'm alone with my concern, PeeJay2K3 seems to have the same gut feeling about the additions here and here. Calistemon (talk) 21:40, 4 July 2016 (UTC)

Block Warnings Etc.
Hello GiantSnowman, i just wanted to say that almost none of my edits are false. They are based on true references such as like transfermarkt.com, soccerway.com, worldfootball.net and the official club pages. I got a a new message about Pim Bouwman and another block warning, here you can see (http://ermisfc.com.cy/eidiseis/nea/psiloni-to-kentro/) that the player got a transfer at the specific club. Thanks in advance for your time. Zecke1910 (talk) 13:53, 8 July 2016 (UTC)
FM2016
It is indeed a video game, but there's articles and even a documentary on how they source their stats - it's a lot better than Soccerway, etc. - they use club historians and reps at each club. Surely that's accuarate? All their other stats are and match up. Fair enough if you don't want to use as you can't add a "ref" next to it, but when has that ever been done on appearances and goals on Wikipedia? Better to have the 99% certain stat in there than a blank space in my opinion. UncleTupelo1 (talk) 14:04, 9 July 2016 (UTC)
- It's not really a questionable source though, if you looked in to how they're sourced. Thanks for the block threat though! UncleTupelo1 (talk) 15:21, 9 July 2016 (UTC)

ultrAslan
Dear Giant Snowman,
I see you were part of the deletion discussion for ultrAslan in 2012. During new page patrol, I saw that it had been recreated. Since then, German and Turkish articles have been written, and it seems that the firm has become more notable. I translated the German article, so now there is more substance and better references. If you think it still needs a deletion review, feel free to submit it again. --Slashme (talk) 17:45, 12 July 2016 (UTC)

Ulsan Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Dolphin FC
Hi, GS
Please check out the discussion at Ulsan Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Dolphin FC https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Talk:Ulsan_Dolphins#Requested_move_27_July_2016
Ulsan Dolphins is not common name.
I know some foreign football website use Ulsan Dolphins. But they use Ulsan Dolphins because of just convinience and simpleness.
I understand that name Ulsan Dolphins is very simple and convenient and more like sports club name in terms of foreigners. So foreigners prefer Ulsan Dolphin.
But To my regret, Koreans don't call this club Ulsan Dolphins and Dolphins is not important element in club name.
This club is traditional works team owned and controlled by Hyundai Mipo Dockyard company.
In club name. Most important element is Hyundai Mipo Dockyard.
Current consensus is very ridiculs and result of ignorance about South korean football club culture.
Please help to revert the ridiculus consensus.

This ip address 2406:5600:58:6f7:dc2e:559e:376:990c is vandalizing Indian football related pages and football pages in general and continued after the warning. Coderzombie (talk) 10:41, 27 July 2016 (UTC)

Move request
Hello.i tried to move new created page FC Ungheni to CF Ungheni and with no luck.it says i have to contact administrator regarding this issue.so i did :))i wrote first to your friend Sir Sputnik but he said he is not administrator and by this i'm writing to you.Remembered from the time you reverted some mine edits :))), and i really wanted you to help with this issue. CF Ungheni is a new formed club in 2013.the link confirming this had been provided on the created page (divizia-a.md).this website is actually sponsored by moldovan football federation,so the source is realible for sure.apart from this source, soccerway also confirms it somehow. The reason i can't move from FC Ungheni to CF Ungheni by myself i believe is because one team from Ungheni already exist CS Moldova-03 Ungheni. Few month ago one user tried to move this page to CF Ungheni but was opposed by another user and reverted.and probably he was right. This both clubs FC Ungheni and CS Moldova-03 Ungheni had also different profiles on soccerway and different logo's.i wanted to know what to do next.put the squad and update infobox on the page CS Moldova-03 Ungheni(in this case this page have to be renamed to CF Ungheni) or leaved with new created article.any decision is fine.thanks for your help.Kolya77 (talk) 14:20, 28 July 2016 (UTC)

James and Jimmy Randall
Why did you delete my (attempt at) a disambiguation statement on both of these pages? The footballer and the murderer both went by "Jimmy." When looking for the killer, all I got was the footballer. We can talk here, I have added this page to my watchlist. Paul, in Saudi (talk) 09:25, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
- @PaulinSaudi: From Jimmy to (murderer) I added the correct formatted template; I removed it from (murderer) to Jimmy as nobody looking for the footballer would end up at the murderer in error. GiantSnowman 17:18, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
- Why not? (Although I did not. I found the sportsman while looking for the killer.) Both went by the name "Jimmy Randall." It seems to cost nothing to have one for each. (Many thanks for correcting the format.) Paul, in Saudi (talk) 00:47, 3 August 2016 (UTC)
- But you wouldn't find the killer looking for the sportsman! See WP:NAMB for more info. GiantSnowman 06:49, 3 August 2016 (UTC)

Sock much?
Hi there GS,
this IP here (https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Special:Contributions/190.150.35.182, remember them?) continues to apparently upload tons of copyrighted images to articles. I remembered the User:Fitozelaya account as a possible first, but apparently they have upped the ante, as seen in Sidnei (footballer, born 1989), Robinho, Patrick Kluivert, Andoni Zubizarreta and Dani Carvajal. Several accounts created in a row.
Attentively --Be Quiet AL (talk) 23:39, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
- Now this, to lighten up your day (or not, depends on how much you have to dig!), a Bradford City man: Sérgio Pinto (footballer, born 1973), I do not know how the hell did I miss this since I follow this article regularly (or maybe they changed the URL, can't remember exactly), but his SOCCERBASE entry is not him, but Sérgio Pinto (footballer, born 1980)!
If you can't find a decent replacement - I tried browsing the site, under "All players", but came out empty - please "ice" the link. Thanks in advance --Be Quiet AL (talk) 01:00, 3 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Be Quiet AL and Josepolivares: do you have specific diffs? Have you reported to WP:AIV? GiantSnowman 06:52, 3 August 2016 (UTC)
Specific diffs? In those four articles there are tons of instances. Also, as customary, the last message on the anon's page was summarily removed as per use (please check it here https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=User_talk:190.150.35.182&diff=next&oldid=732756927, it happened to you a couple of times in the past). In Dani Carvajal, two new accounts were created in a day or two, and it's not just me or User:Josepolivares reverting, User:Kante4 also seems to "know the drill" and reverts on sight. --Be Quiet AL (talk) 16:03, 3 August 2016 (UTC)
- Newsflash: In Andoni Zubizarreta, two new/quick accounts from 24 JULY onwards, person also engages in overlinking, more news to me (and you possibly) --Be Quiet AL (talk) 16:15, 3 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Be Quiet AL and Josepolivares: - yes I need actual diffs, not just page numbers. Why do you think these are socks? Why not try WP:SPI if you believe multiple accounts are being used? GiantSnowman 16:56, 3 August 2016 (UTC)
I see where you are coming from GS, but I am actually growing tired of this, I'll do my humble part by reverting and ignoring. The User:Alexiulian25 situation is also so fresh on our minds, is it not? If this is to be another similar case, they can't be beat.
Sorry for any inconvenience (i.e. coming here and then not following through on your technical suggestions), keep it up --Be Quiet AL (talk) 17:10, 3 August 2016 (UTC)
Re: Lauri Dalla Valle
This was certainly not a test edit. Granted, I should've left an edit summary, but that border is needed due to so much whitespace on the image. I would ask that you revert. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 15:18, 5 August 2016 (UTC)
- I am, however, looking into other methods to display borders for images in various infoboxes, as in something like
| border = yes
rather than crudely tacking on{{!}}border
. I would treat that 'tweak' as merely an interim solution until then. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 16:17, 6 August 2016 (UTC)

I Am A New User Need Help
Dear User:GiantSnowman, I am a new user to Wikipedia. I was wondering if you could help me solve some problems that I am having on this website. The first problem I am having has to do with my signature, the signature does not link to my user page as stated in the dialog. I left it unchecked, since it next to the box, that if left unchecked, it would treat it as a nickname and link it to my userpage. It does not. My userpage is User:Aceing Winter Snows Harsh Cold. I actually signed of here with tildes and went to preview and it worked, but it does not work on my talk page. Should I wait for a while? Hello GS,
Summersby has recently died and we have a similar situation as with Danny Light and Steve Brennan in that Ian King (author CPFC complete record 1905-2011) has posted in the Palace BBS forum and the club tweeted here, but nothing at the website AFAICT. There's already been a bit of to-ing & fro-ing again at Summersby's page. You did say with regard to Brennan that the Twitter post could be used but I am uncertain how to do that in such a way that someone else would not (quite reasonably) claim it to be non-RS. Any ideas? Thanks. Regards, Eagleash (talk) 19:00, 10 August 2016 (UTC)

Alex Kiwomya
Without ever being included in the first-team squad, it means nothing and pointless. He never even featured in the first team squad of any of those seasons. Same as players such as Jordan Houghton and Kasey Palmer.
In addition, it is not because he has 0 appearance in the infobox for the removal. It is because even the citations of the stats does not recognize those seasons as Chelsea first team. He has never been included in any first-team line of Chelsea. The only reason why Chelsea is under senior career of the info box is because of those loans. Any person for the reserves can go on loan but it doesn't mean he was included as a first team member of the parent-team.

Hello. As you're aware of Special:Contributions/2.25.97.25 already, I wonder if you might consider giving him a rest from editing. He reached a final warning yesterday for removing citation needed tags. Twice today he's changed one of Tommy Ring clubs from the correct Stevenage Town to Stevenage Borough, a club not founded until 10 years after he played for Town, and he's now changed the wording of a direct quote and removed the cited source at Don Roper. Etc etc. thanks, Struway2 (talk) 18:30, 21 August 2016 (UTC)

Infobox
I really don't get why you're insisting on implementing an infobox format that leaves far more white space than is necessary. Just put related facts on the same line, it makes sense. Just because it's shown one way in the template documentation doesn't mean it has to be done that way every time! – PeeJay 19:48, 21 August 2016 (UTC)
- But my point is, why is the documentation like that? If I changed it, although I'm sure someone would change it back, what would then be the problem with putting stuff on the same line? It doesn't make the infobox work any differently, and it's easier to read as it groups the years, appearances and goals for each club together. I think the reason no other infobox works like that is because not many infoboxes include multiple columns of stats, but ours does. – PeeJay 18:34, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
- I guess it doesn't make it that much easier to edit, but it certainly doesn't make it harder. I'm not particularly familiar with politics infoboxes, but I'm pretty sure there's no policy that specifically goes against putting multiple parameters on the same line. – PeeJay 18:40, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
- There doesn't have to be a policy against something for someone to think it's a bad idea, but just because one person thinks it's a bad idea doesn't mean it actually is. And I'm not saying my way is necessarily the best idea, but considering many people format infoboxes the same way, it can't be so bad that it's worth reverting? – PeeJay 19:01, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
- Sure, that's fair enough, and that's why I haven't reverted you back (also, that would be edit warring, which is bad), I was just trying to understand your objection. – PeeJay 19:08, 22 August 2016 (UTC)

Automated edits
Hi, I'm wondering why you are making automated edits to change "nationalteam-update" to "ntupdate" in the infobox? The parameter was updated to the former quite some time ago. See Template:Infobox football biography#Parameters. Mattythewhite (talk) 16:45, 6 September 2016 (UTC)
- I feel discussing moving back to the previous parameter would have been the better course of action, rather than unilaterally changing a load to the former name. Hello GS, should the above, who have also played in the first team be included in squad templates? Thinking here of Jonathan Benteke who is not in the official Palace squad, I believe, but can participate as an "under-age" player. Thanks. Regards, Eagleash (talk) 02:13, 11 September 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks, Benteke minor now appears in both the CPFC and development squads and by your example Dreher, who was an unused sub yesterday, should also be included in squad list and template. Eagleash (talk) 12:54, 11 September 2016 (UTC)
Firmino
You just removed what I said about him scoring ten league goals without a source. The source about yesterday was not even marked as 'sports commentary'. Also this article is about the player. I simply re-added the BBC source about him scoring twice yesterday, notable for being the first goal scorer at the redeveloped Anfield. Are you only on here to obstruct constructive edits or what is going on???? Look at the source before you do these unnecessary obstructive things, please.
Lommaren (talk) 10:18, 11 September 2016 (UTC)
- From the source "The game was played in front of Anfield's biggest crowd since 1977, with a 54,000 sell-out in the newly expanded stadium. Some 8,500 seats were added to the Main Stand this summer." Firmino was also mentioned as the first goal scorer in the match.
That renders him the first scorer in the redeveloped stadium. I can not believe we even have to have an argument about such an obvious thing. Like I said, you obviously did not read the article. Lommaren (talk) 10:23, 11 September 2016 (UTC)

Wit Ronni & Tristan Robert
Dear GiantSnowman, I don't know if you remember but a while back I complained to you about a recently blocked use (Wit Ronni) and a seemly new users having the exact same tendency to edit like Wit Ronni, aka removing sources of Thai football article.
It seems since ther might be a new one called Tristan Robert, who like Wit Ronni likes to remove sources (see here, here, and here). Moreover most of the pages Tristan Robert edits happen to be pages Wit Ronni frequently edit prior to being blocked. I left a message on Tristan Robert but the editor did not respond or change their editing behavior.
This user is more established than the previous Wit Ronni socks which might just make this a coincidence but still it looks suspicious to me. Should I contact another administrator over this? Thanks Inter&anthro (talk) 16:54, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
Firmino
Hey, did you remove my re-order of Firmino's positional description? Since he's now Klopp's first-choice striker, it makes sense for his first position listed to be up front. When did he last play in midfield?

Automated clean up
Hi, I've see you're using AWB to update reference lists to a width of 30 em. However, I the guidance at Template:Reflist#Columns is that we use this "Where there are many footnotes plus a page-width Bibliography subsection", and to use one columns when "there are only a few Footnotes". I don't know if the same occurs on your browser, but when 30 em is applied when an article contains one reference, I see a list that is unnecessarily split (e.g. this). Thanks, Mattythewhite (talk) 19:06, 14 September 2016 (UTC)

Hello snowman.. Seems like the problem continues.. I keep reverting and warning (maybe the same person with different ip's?) that keeps vandalizing the page.. Maybe a semi protection could help? Also maybe you can help me with the club's logo that was deleted by commons without reason! The page now has not official emblem and i see no reason for the deletion. What's their problem anyway? It's just a logo and nothing else.
WP:DATERET
Regarding Alice Gray, are you interpreting WP:DATERET's "strong national ties to the topic" as anyone born in the United States (or perhaps an employer that has the word "American" in it)? I would typically reserve "strong national ties" for e.g. politicians and others for whom nationality is a key part of their identity. (As an aside, I am American and I prefer DMY in Wikipedia articles). — {{{1}}} \\ 14:58, 17 September 2016 (UTC)

Extended confirmed protection
Hello, GiantSnowman. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.
Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.
In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:
- Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
- A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.
Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.
This message was sent to the administrators' mass message list. To opt-out of future messages, please remove yourself from the list. 17:48, 23 September 2016 (UTC)

So I ask about restoring that 2017–18 UEFA Women's Champions League again (better: moving the userfied version to mainspace). First big league, ENglish FA WSL has teams decided, so people will be interested in the article now. Changes to version mentioned in deletion review are +six teams, +final stadium known, plus UEFA is now writing about teams in next edition. It is definitely "going ahead". I've also asked fenix, but he has yet to answer. -Koppapa (talk) 06:41, 26 September 2016 (UTC)
- I don't think that's the way to go, as I got the following response in the last deletion review: "I can't imagine why the other admin recommended Deletion Review." :-) Fenix answered and and would give his go to the article, too. Hope he has the clearance to move back to mainspace. Thanks. -Koppapa (talk) 14:49, 30 September 2016 (UTC)
Hi, at Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge we're striving to bring about 10,000 article improvements and creations for the UK and Ireland and inspire others to create more content. In order to achieve this we need diversity of content, in all parts of the UK and Ireland on all topics. Eventually a regional contest will be held for all parts of the British Isles, like they were for Wales and the Wedt Country. We currently have just over 1900 articles and need contributors! I have updated the former Rangers player's page, as he was manager of Queen of the South for the 1970-71 season. Really just executed a general tidy up with some wording. I also amended the information box with a link to the Neil Brown UK transfers A to Z, as his career totals were missing and his East Fife totals were missing and the timescale there was also incorrect. I noticed that you removed his name from the 'People from Garforth' category, due to insufficient reliability, which I understand. (he is Leeds-born). However, it is true that he is in fact from Garforth, so I'm curious as to what a reliable source is?? I could tell you his parents names :) I have noticed that Garforth Villa FC, describe him as a 'local' lad & his bowling (cricket stats) are on Garforth Parish C.C club page, does that suffice? Many thanks
Ruined article
What was the point of ruining the Alan McInally article? Now it just looks stupid. Aremsi (talk) 00:30, 2 October 2016 (UTC)
Rubbish. The bit you left (re Celtic career) is completely unreferenced and point of view (valued member, came into his own), so maybe you should be consistent. I guess it's always easier to destroy than it is to create. Aremsi (talk) 22:15, 2 October 2016 (UTC)
Ok Mr Snowman - the fact is your meddling has literally made this particular entry pointless. The entry was fine for years, with people adding bits and bobs until you decided to ruin it. Template about european title
What's your opinion about a template I created back in 2012, see him here I created it to connect all the winners of the competition and was inspired by other sports like basket, they are common sight in those type of articles. I know this would not pass in football, but seeing that futsal kinda sits in the "grey area", what you think? After all, there isn't even a notability requirement for futsal players, so this must be ok. --Threeohsix (talk) 11:25, 3 October 2016 (UTC)

Invite to the African Destubathon
Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:14, 6 October 2016 (UTC)

Regarding KiSharika
Just wanted to give you an FYI regarding their edits on Rehman's RFA (and apparently its talk page). In this edit, they claimed to have been nominated by PCruiser ... a WP:SOCK that has been blocked since the end of last month. According to the tag on that account's user page, that sock's master was Fixer88, but I'm not convinced that editor and KiSharika are the same person, so I haven't filed a WP:SPI. Steel1943 (talk) 19:15, 12 October 2016 (UTC)
Also, in that nomination statement above, it seems that "PCruiser" used Fastily's signature formatting; Fastily is the nominator at Rehman's RFA. Something about all of this is fishy, but since I'm not convinced that KiSharika and Fixer88 aren't the same person, I'm not sure what the next step may be, but something's definitely not right. Mark Chamberlain
Why do you keep reversing my changes to the Mark Chamberlain page? – Jamie
It would be helpful if you could check the validity of the changes as if you did you'd see that I have now twice corrected errors. Stoke City and Sheffield Wednesday were both in the First Division when he signed for them. It should be obvious that there is an error given it currently implies Stoke went from the forth to second division which is clearly impossible in the 80s Jamie —Preceding undated comment added 16:25, 16 October 2016 (UTC)

Re: managers vs. head coaches
Okay, so that is the standard but I personally disagree. There is a difference between managers and head coaches. In India we have the technical directors, sporting directors, and then the head coach, who we literally call the head coach. In my opinion, because that is the way it is used mainly in India, and since most articles on India are done as "Indian English" we should have it as say "Bengaluru FC head coaches". It makes sense, at least to me. Also, while I understand WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS, we do also see this as a common occurrence for articles on "soccer" (a word which I believe can relate to our conversation here) in the US, like Category:New York Red Bulls coaches or Category:Major League Soccer coaches because that is the common way of things in the US. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 01:25, 30 October 2016 (UTC)
- Okay, so if it should be the same for the US then you should do it. That is not fair that even though India does not use the term "manager" we have to use it just cause we only have a handful of active members while the US Soccer wiki has a lot more. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 13:12, 30 October 2016 (UTC)

SLBedit warmongering
Please have a look at the recent edits of SLBedit on 2005–06 S.L. Benfica season and 2004–05 S.L. Benfica season. Been removing links to Porto and Sporting irrespective season because "they're not related". They're there because of MOS:SEEALSO. If the seasons of other Big Three are not related topic, what is? --Threeohsix (talk) 21:58, 1 November 2016 (UTC)
- @Threeohsix: - I actually agree with @SLBedit:'s edits, no need to 'see also' other club's season articles. What we really need is Portuguese templates similar to {{2005–06 in English football}} which list all club and competitions season articles that season. 07:57, 2 November 2016 (UTC)GiantSnowman
- I agree with the template, but it doesn't exist, and it doesn't fall on me to do it. If you're aiming to get the article to GA, so be as complete as possible, you don't think the seasons of the other two big clubs in Portugal are related to Benfica's, failing right in the requirements of what MOS:SEEALSO says? The links in the "See also" section might be only indirectly related to the topic of the article because one purpose of "See also" links is to enable readers to explore tangentially related topics. --Threeohsix (talk) 08:51, 2 November 2016 (UTC)

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite
Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 08:55, 6 November 2016 (UTC)

Why?
Hello. Why did you revert my recent edits? They were made in order to improve the articles by adding clarification. I am not a vandal. Thank you.Architect 134 (talk) 20:30, 8 November 2016 (UTC)

Footballer edits
A vastly imperfect way to get large numbers into the proper category. I don't especially like it, and I have some ideas about how to improve Cat-a-Lot so it doesn't happen, but it seems to have worked. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 21:36, 8 November 2016 (UTC)

Image syntax
Hello. I think you're probably unaware that the size parameter for images within the body of an article requires the px after the number of pixels. If you supply a bare number, it's just ignored and the image size reverts to the default. This is different from |image_size=
in the infobox, which does require just a number. Examples below (please feel free to get rid of them once you've had a look): cheers, Struway2 (talk) 14:37, 12 November 2016 (UTC)

Two-Factor Authentication now available for admins
Hello,
Please note that TOTP based two-factor authentication is now available for all administrators. In light of the recent compromised accounts, you are encouraged to add this additional layer of security to your account. It may be enabled on your preferences page in the "User profile" tab under the "Basic information" section. For basic instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication, please see the developing help page for additional information. Important: Be sure to record the two-factor authentication key and the single use keys. If you lose your two factor authentication and do not have the keys, it's possible that your account will not be recoverable. Furthermore, you are encouraged to utilize a unique password and two-factor authentication for the email account associated with your Wikimedia account. This measure will assist in safeguarding your account from malicious password resets. Comments, questions, and concerns may be directed to the thread on the administrators' noticeboard. Soccerbase template
Hello. Where an article doesn't use any consistent style, it doesn't really matter: sticking an accessdate on the end of an external link, which is all that was done with {{soccerway}}, would be fine. Although we are encouraged to rationalise inconsistent styles. I wrote {{soccerbase season}} to be consistent in appearance with the style I try to use – {{cite web}} and {{cite news}} with parameters like publisher/website/newspaper present and filled in per documentation – and I've applied it to articles where I thought it wouldn't be out of place, but if it got reverted by a regular editor of an article, then so be it. If similar were done with {{soccerbase}} so the output looks like one of the major citation styles, it'd be better, but I don't think we can impose its use any more than we can with {{soccerbase season}}. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 21:15, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
DYK for Roy Jennings
On 14 November 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Roy Jennings, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the English footballer Roy Jennings scored 60 goals during his career, 51 of which were penalties? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Roy Jennings. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Roy Jennings), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Reference errors on 13 November
Hello, I'm ReferenceBot. I have automatically detected that some edits performed by you may have introduced errors in referencing. They are as follows:
- On the Connor Ripley page, your edit caused an unnamed parameter error (help). (Fix | Ask for help)
- On the Dave Esser page, your edit caused a cite error (help). (Fix | Ask for help)
Please check these pages and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, ReferenceBot (talk) 00:22, 14 November 2016 (UTC)
A new user right for New Page Patrollers
Hi GiantSnowman.
A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.
It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.
If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:47, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

Manjappada and possible sockpuppetry
What's really going on here? The AfD was created by Abdulla Sahil, but the Afd template was actually added to article by the author Ameer Abdullah. In fact the AfD template was added to article by author before Abdulla Sahil even nominated it. In the articles for deletion page the IP user commented that I "would point out the nominator here has repeatedly blanked it", but it was actually the author who blanked it. Therefore should it not quality for speedy deletion via G7? However, I think there's something more sinister going on here in the form of sockpuppetry. Look at Arun Muraleedharan an article created by Abdulla Sahil, it's similar to Manjappada in that it uses references in the middle of sentences and the hyphenated date format. Despite both users being able to reference properly they both add external links in same faulty manner see Abdullah and see Sahil. Rather more damning is that both users' edits are all tagged with visual edit and they both come from Kerala, according to their user pages. Under Abdulla Sahil's photo on his user page, is a caption which reads Sahil Abdullah the same spelling as User:Ameer Abdullah. Ameer Abdullah's first edit on Wikipedia (removing an Afd template) is to Kolumittayi a page created by Sahil, his second edit was to Arun Muraleedharan, also created by Sahil. Sahil also created Abdullah's talkpage and then awarded Abdullah a barnstar before he'd done anything. ★☆ DUCKISJAMMMY☆★ 02:50, 20 November 2016 (UTC)

Tagging removal of sourced content as a minor edit
Hello. Please can you not tag the removal of sourced (albeit not inline-sourced) content as a minor edit with edit summary of "clean up using AWB", as you did at Don Dorman. If you feel unable to assume good faith at an article containing several general references, by just tagging the thing for inline/refimprove or dropping a note to its creator (if they're still active) to get it sorted, please at least use an edit summary that accurately describes the nature of your edit. Thanks in advance.
As a matter of interest, what was the difference, sourcing-wise, between the content you left in place, which included dates of birth and death, birthplace, clubs played for with stats and dates, and post-playing employment, and that which you removed? cheers, Struway2 (talk) 12:39, 20 November 2016 (UTC)
- WP:V#Responsibility for providing citations explains quite clearly how to establish which bit is verifiable from which source:
Any material lacking a reliable source directly supporting it may be removed and should not be restored without an inline citation to a reliable source. Whether and how quickly material should be initially removed for not having an inline citation to a reliable source depends on the material and the overall state of the article. In some cases, editors may object if you remove material without giving them time to provide references; consider adding a citation needed tag as an interim step.
- The first sentence permits removal of content. What the second and third say, is that immediate removal rather than tagging of what many might see as both uncontentious and readily attributable material, what with there being that "bunch of sources dumped at the end", might well piss people off. Struway2 (talk) 09:46, 21 November 2016 (UTC)
- One might think that no significant harm would come to the encyclopedia if uncontentious material with no BLP ramifications that had been there since 2007, and was actually remarkably well referenced by the standards of that time, were left for a few days to see if anybody would respond to tags. I've been here far too long to start taking personal offence, but I'm not convinced that an inexperienced good-faith editor would see it the same way, especially where content gets removed with no explanation beyond "clean up". Footnote 4 at WP:CHALLENGE is informative: it finishes up by reminding us that "it is advisable to communicate clearly that you have a considered reason to believe that the material in question cannot be verified." cheers, Struway2 (talk) 19:28, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

James Ward-Prowse Headings
Hi GS, I see that James Ward-Prowse is a page that you created and have done a lot of work on. I didn't mean to offend your style by editing the headings/sub-headings. I have no issue with you reverting the edit given your work on the page. I just figured it looks neater with the main heading large and then the individual seasons forming sub-headings. I know comparisons don't bear binding weight but Francesco Totti's page is a good example of what I mean, especially given that he too is a one-club-man. Just thought I'd give an explanation. Cheers, Liam E. Bekker (talk) 12:20, 28 November 2016 (UTC)
Persistent vandalism
Greetings, GiantSnowman. I notice that you are a contributor to the Margaret Rhodes article and also an administrator. Perhaps you could do something about the persistent and rather lippy vandal who keeps inserting some drivel about how Margaret Rhodes died "following a short illness, later confirmed as AIDS" — as if AIDS is ever a short illness. It might be helpful if the article's text can only be edited by experienced users. The users in question all seem to be anonymous. All that I can do is to undo their edits. Thanks. Kelisi (talk) 19:02, 30 November 2016 (UTC)
Referees stubs
Greetings! I notice that you've reverted all the edits I made to articles tagged with {{referee-stub}}, with the edit summery reading: "previous type more specific". Your summary is correct; however, the change from "referee" to "sports official" was discussed at both WikiProject Stub sorting - Proposals and Categories for discussion, resulting in the approval of {{sports-official-bio-stub}} and the deletion of {{referee-stub}}. Category:Referees stubs is clearly tagged with a notice linking to the discussion, which also reports on the progress of the {{sports-official-bio-stub}} proposal. I will add a notice on the {{referee-stub}} for editors who don't check the category notices and may not be aware of the progress of the changes. Meanwhile, if you have a comment regarding the use of {{referee-stub}}, I suggest you take part in one of the discussions linked above. Cheers, Her Pegship (talk) 19:45, 1 December 2016 (UTC)
- Hi there! In due course, there might be a stub type required for referees specifically. Creating the sports official type is the first step toward sorting out how many articles will be tagged thusly, and once {{sports-official-bio-stub}} is used on 60 or more articles, by WPSS standards we can give it its own category (Category:Sports official biography stubs) and look into splitting it out if necessary. (At this time, {{sports-official-bio-stub}} doesn't even have a category, and the forms for both the category and template for referee stubs don't conform to WP standards.) tl;dr : Let's start with sports officials in general and move toward the specific later on, OK? Edit summaries
Hello. Aren't we supposed to use edit summaries that describe the nature of our edits? I undid yours, which both restored the full name – quicker and easier than having to type it in myself – and generated the first part of the summary, and then inline-sourced it. John Clark
Is there any reason you're being deliberately confrontational at John Clark's page? Kosack (talk) 10:26, 12 December 2016 (UTC)
- Hmmm, so I need a notification for you adding a category? The reference for those stats spans several pages so I included the book as a general reference. Kosack (talk) 10:50, 12 December 2016 (UTC)
- So I needed a notification because I forgot to add a category? The page span covers several completely different subsections of the book so it seems considerable overkill for a single reference. Kosack (talk) 11:16, 12 December 2016 (UTC)
- Or you could reasonably assume I mistakenly forgot to add the category, especially more being a mobile edit (which I assume was tagged), and have simply added the category out of common courtesy? Kosack (talk) 11:34, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

Harry Hooper
Hello. For information, Hylton Colliery Juniors catered for boys from leaving school at 14 (later 15) to when they were old enough to go into men's football at 17-ish. They played in Juniors leagues, and contributed players to the Durham County youth team, the age group between U15 schoolboys and senior men's. Mr Hooper was only 6 when the 1940s began, and was at the club by 1949, so couldn't have joined it in any other decade. One good thing came of extra eyes on that article: the (reliably sourced :-) year of Hooper senior retiring as a player and both of them joining West Ham was a year out. I've fixed it on both pages. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 11:57, 13 December 2016 (UTC)

McMenemy sources etc
Look, I do get it. Wikis are not reliable because anyone can add any random thing. And that link just stayed because I copied them both over for quickness to try and end this, I'm on my phone so typing the coding symbols is tiresome. But to be honest, there are a number of reference books I've read where I have some knowledge of the subject and notice the author has stated something that is inaccurate or just wrong, albeit innocently and accidentally.
Likewise I see 'reliable' online databases referenced here a lot like London Hearts which has a lot of good obscure stats, but who's to say it isn't just one guy with some domain space who fills in some blanks randomly at times? It all looks fine to me, but who can be sure?
And this is the disclaimer from Toon1892.com: "In presenting this information I would like to point out that I have no connection with, or affiliation to, Newcastle United Football Club, or any other organisation. All research is conducted by myself and where evidence points to conflicting conclusions the decision of which to include is at my sole discretion.". Now that is one lone guy who is trying his best to present the information correctly, but ultimately he is the God of his site. And there is no-one helping him so it would be easy to miss stuff, like if a player has a brother and father who were both internationals, that's an interesting little note in my opinion but it wasn't on there. But again what is on there seems OK so great, let's quote it.
Contrastingly, yes any loony can add nonsense to the Celtic Wiki, but like Wikipedia it will be monitored and scrutinised vigorously by obsessives and the narrow subject range involved and their devotion to it, as well as the collective aspect of collating the information, presents a decent case for the majority of the stuff on there being right as far as anyone is able to investigate it, especially the crazy disorganised world of football from 100 years ago. Still not reliable but the best we can do in some circumstances.
So you can lecture me about this if you like, I realise I am a noob that needs to be reined in; obviously you are in the right as far as the guidelines are concerned, and I understand why they are there (we don't want crap being added and referenced from more crap and then it gets quoted by some lazy journalist and shared on social media and repeated on TV and suddenly the crap is almost fact), but in this instance I feel you're overemphasising it a wee bit. Cheers, peace Crowsus (talk) 20:29, 22 December 2016 (UTC) PS seem to have added this to the middle of the page instead of the bottom, apologies

Douglas Franco Teixeira
Hi Snowman,
Since you seem to be the expert on Douglas, and know much more than I do about this matter, why not be consistent and change the whole article, including the part where it says he had to revoke his Brazilian passport (don't forget to delete the footnotes/sources as well).
I quote: "On 2 November 2011, he received his Dutch passport. Douglas' passport was presented by Mayor of Enschede, Peter den Oudsten. As a result, Douglas had to revoke his Brazilian passport. Douglas received his first call-up to the Dutch national team in October 2012."
And while you're at it, please also correct the Wikipedia articles about Douglas in Dutch: https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_Franco_Teixeira and in German: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_Franco_Teixeira and French: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_Franco_Teixeira who all make the same and obviously wrong assertions.
Best regards from a Dutch football fan, living in the Netherlands and following both Dutch and Brazilian football very closely (I'm a native Dutch speaker and speak Portuguese fluently). But I congratulate you and bow for your immense knowledge.
