Eyeballs open

Hey man, this dude is doing some weird stuff, particularly on talk pages lately. Might be worth keeping an eye on. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 02:23, 3 January 2015 (UTC)

First sorry for my English, and second, please stop revert my edits on Every Witch Way. Ethan Estrada and Nicolas James are Oscar and Hector. I linked their Twitters, but you said that are unverified. So see this picture. Is Ethan Estrada (Oscar) with EWW cast, and this is Nicolas James (Hector) with Nick Merico and Rahart Adams, members of EWW main cast. With that, is confirmed they're the H20 guys on Every Witch Way, Don't revert my edit again please. 190.33.67.43 (talk) 22:36, 5 January 2015 (UTC)

They aren't characters on the show until they appear in an episode. Then you can get the names of the actors from the credits as shown. Don't trust self-declarations by people that they will appear on the show. Wait for official credits or a reliable third party source. Geraldo Perez (talk) 22:50, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
Look Mia (Elizabeth Elias), she's already in the list. They are recurring characters because they went to Disneyland with the rest of EWW main and recurring cast. 22:53, 5 January 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.33.67.43 (talk)
Then she should be removed as well. If she hasn't been on the show then she is not a character on the show. Geraldo Perez (talk) 22:57, 5 January 2015 (UTC)

TVGN/Pop move

I closed the move discussion; obviously if it's from our friend who wants to start Dan Vs. back up through sheer will, we don't need to drag it out for seven days. Nate (chatter) 04:43, 7 January 2015 (UTC)

He likely started the previous move discussion as well. The move discussions were not in good faith, in my opinion. He's just looking for ways to insert his bogus info in as many places as he can. Thanks for closing the discussion. Geraldo Perez (talk) 04:46, 7 January 2015 (UTC)

Edit reverts

Please stop reverting my edits, as you did to The Big Bang Theory and replacing them with invalid ones. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing for consistently adding invalid or non-updated info. JosephTremitiedi (talk) 23:10, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

I haven't reverting anything on The Big Bang Theory article, it is not an article I normally watch or edit. Other edits have been and will continue to be modified or undone as neccessary if it serves to improve the article. Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:18, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

TVGN is now POP

you can move the TVGN page to POP (U.S. TV channel) because TVGN is gone and the channel is now known as POP. 190.14.228.24 (talk) 15:34, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

It will move when one of the regular editors of that topic confirms that change has actually occurred and not just planned. Geraldo Perez (talk) 15:36, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
Just i have created an account to move the page to a new one, Thanks. TVGNFan20 (talk) 15:42, 14 January 2015 (UTC)
I have made the official move in the proper manner (network name is in use, channel guide slot is now called POP/POPHD, no more TVGN logo on-screen), so this is all done now. I wish you IP's would look at WP:MOVE and realize we have a process that works. Nate (chatter) 16:20, 14 January 2015 (UTC)

Girl Meets World and Edward Hopper's Nighthawks

So you didn't think adding the link to Edward Hopper's Nighthawks painting added anything to the article on "Girl Meets World?" I thought it was blatantly obvious the name of the diner Maya's mother worked at was direct reference to that painting. -------User:DanTD (talk) 19:06, 15 January 2015 (UTC)

DanTD: Not to me it wasn't and I got very confused when I clicked on the link. I was expecting a link to a real location. A bit of an intro in the article itself about how the work location is a parody of the diner depicted in the painting would have mitigated the surprise. It is also possible that it is just a coincidence and the link could be considered original research. Geraldo Perez (talk) 19:18, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
Would an image help? I know it's from a fansite, but it's still an image from that episode of the series. Also, somehow it seems unlikely that it would be a coincidence. ---------User:DanTD (talk) 20:48, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
DanTD: I think with sufficient explanation in the text of the article a link would cease to be a surprise. That image could be imported into wiki with a fair-use justification and used in the article to illustrate the point if necessary if the diner itself is considered a major setting for the show. I think it is a bit trivial though if the setting is not an important one and this is just a throw-away joke for the cognoscenti. The "Nighthawks" in the painting refer to the people in the diner, not the name of the diner itself. It is likely that the name of the diner in the show is an amusing allusion to the painting but still I think the connection is a bit too much original research that should be backed up with some reliable source making the connection. Geraldo Perez (talk) 21:07, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
Aw, crap! My original plan was to add the scene from the episode itself to the article on Hopper's painting instead. I could've also done that with the Kim Possible episode "Grudge Match." ---------User:DanTD (talk) 21:21, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
I think File:Nighthawksreference.png shows a real good example of cultural allusion used in the Nighthawks article. It goes by the appearance being a real close reflection on the painting. I don't think the wikia image is close to the painting so wouldn't justify being in the Nighthawks article just because of the name used in the show, needs the close visual. Geraldo Perez (talk) 21:41, 15 January 2015 (UTC)

The Atticus Institute (film)

Hi, I was wondering how to format this movie The Atticus Institute (film), do I included (film) as default or just leave it as The Atticus Institute? Valoem talk contrib 03:28, 16 January 2015 (UTC)

Restore reverted edits and deleted pages

Which user do I have to be in order restore reverted edits and deleted pages? D'ohmer (talk) 03:31, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

Category:Boomerang original programs

I noticed you nominated this for speedy deletion as being created by a banned user, however, I don't see any evidence that the User:D'ohmer has been banned, can you please explain? I don't see why we couldn't have a category for original programming on the "Boomerang" network, if they have original programming (not sure if they do). -War wizard90 (talk) 03:31, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

@War wizard90: Check the logs for the page and the SPI that the speedy links to. This is one of his targets and he is recreating all the articles that he created in his last visit to wiki - obvious sock of a banned user - everything gets deleted on sight per WP:BANREVERT. Geraldo Perez (talk) 03:34, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

I must be KuhnstylePro to restore reverted edits and deleted pages. D'ohmer (talk) 03:36, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

Ok, I looked through some of the socks contrib's, and while I didn't find this particular category, I didn't feel like sifting through a bunch of contribs to find it, if you are already familiar with the sock's M.O. then I'll just assume you're correct, he does appear to focus on cartoon/video game related categories. Also his response above, seems to be something a sock of KuhnstylePro would respond with. Thanks -War wizard90 (talk) 03:40, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
@War wizard90: The articles initially in the category were previously deleted as banned user created. If the category itself has value please create it after this version is deleted and populate it with articles that were not created by KuhnstylePro, which this current iteration was. Geraldo Perez (talk) 03:51, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
@War wizard90: Hey there, I too am familiar with this timesuck user, and it's clearly him. The article Tattle Cartoon!, which GP also nommed for speedy was a workaround for the sock's other nonsensical project Phibian Mike, which was salted to discourage future vandalism. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:30, 20 January 2015 (UTC)
@Cyphoidbomb: Ok, good to know, I just didn't make the connection initially, I added the sock template to D'ohmer as a suspected sock of KuhnstylePro. -War wizard90 (talk) 04:34, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

Teen Titans Go! (TV series)

I'm further confused by 75.185.74.56's edit summary here which says, "I meant it's NOT noteworthy and is just a fandom head canon". That sounds like they are deliberately introducing phony content. ? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 22:38, 25 January 2015 (UTC)

Yes, I agree it is phony content. Head canon means to extrapolate from what is shown to fill in gaps left by the creator of the show or expand the fictional universe well-beyond what the creator intended. It is fan creation and it should never be in an article. Geraldo Perez (talk) 22:42, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
Their statements are incoherent. That's not helping... Also, I notice StarfireAndRobinLoveEachother in the article's edit history. That editor made changes in the same general area. Also The AnonymousTroll (now blocked for username violation) made similar edits. Under normal circumstances that would be more than sufficient for a block on duck behavior. (As if I have to tell you that...) Cyphoidbomb (talk) 22:53, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
I would guess meat puppets as this is the type of fan fiction writing sometimes supported by groups of people. One of the banes of trying get kid shows somewhere in the general area of being somewhat encyclopedic.

You called my edit of the Kim character's name "vandalism" and a made up name when it is in fact, not. I added to remember for later as well and did not source it because I could not find a source at the time other than the show itself. Her full name of "Kim Beulah Crawford" is revealed in the season 3 episode "Jack Stands Alone" by Milton. If I add it again with this clip as a source, will I not be marked as vandalism again? Clip - Jack Stands Alone - Kickin' It - Disney XD Official SJJM4EVER talk contrib 06:48, 21 January 2015 (ATC)

SJJM4EVER: I said it appeared to be vandalism as it looks to be pure invention to me, not that it was vandalism (canned messages are sometimes too abrupt). One form of subtle article corruption is name invention so I am always suspicious when I see unreferenced name enhancements. If there is an in-show mention use that episode as a reference and also include as much in the reference as possible about the context of the reveal, was it an introduction, written on something, a passing mention. Episode name with timestamp would be great for verifiability, but timestamp is not strictly necessary. Use {{cite episode}} if you really want to do it right. Unnecessary to link to a clip as the episodes are available to stream for anyone who wants to verify. Don't change the section header as that needs to reflect the official credit. Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:05, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
I see you have already done it. Link to official site for video is fine. Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:08, 25 January 2015 (UTC)

Winx Club Season Titles

So does this mean the Seasons are dated by year under their Italian release? If so, then I suppose that makes it clear. I was just including their years featured on 4Kids and Nickelodeon. --Wikialexdx (talk) 03:49, 27 January 2015 (UTC)

We should be concentrating on first airing of the episodes, meaning the Italian release - that looked to be how the article was originally written so WP:STATUSQUO was what I was attempting to retain. Airing in other places is secondary. I don't feel too strongly about this and if you think there is a good reason to concentrate on the first English language release, that should be explained and all the related articles made consistent. I was also checking for consistency and saw the header changes breaking that. Geraldo Perez (talk) 03:57, 27 January 2015 (UTC)

Regarding sockpuppet's moving of Boomerang

Do you, or anyone for that matter, have a copy of the wiki markup for Cartoon Network saved anywhere, with revision history intact? Hello, could you help me?. I created the article "Jessie's Aloha-holidays with Parker and Joey", but I don't know if okay. Good is that more things missing, but I have no idea where to get them.--Philip J Fry Talk 08:27, 21 February 2015 (UTC)

Philip J Fry: There is nothing in that article that is not already in the entry in the list of episodes article. There would need more than a directory entry and an article from a fan-site to meet the requirements of general notability guidelines for a stand-alone article. Would need to see significant coverage from reliable sources about this article such as detailed reviews to justify an article. Generally we don't need separate articles for episodes on this TV series as they generally don't get significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the show itself. I've redirect the article back to the list entry. Geraldo Perez (talk) 17:02, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
Oh, thanks for your help. The idea was to expand it, not put it as a redirect. But in the end, goodbye.--Philip J Fry Talk 18:15, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
Philip J Fry: I couldn't think of any way to expand it to meet WP:GNG. Also none of the other Jessie episodes have articles save "Austin & Jessie & Ally All Star New Year" which is more justified because that is an episode in both Jessie and Austin & Ally, whereas "Jessie's Aloha-holidays with Parker and Joey" is just a Jessie episode with guest stars from another series. You could also create Draft:Jessie's Aloha-holidays with Parker and Joey and put a note in the List of Jessie episodes that proposes an episode article and points to the draft for comments and assistance in creating the article. Still I don't think it is worth it. Geraldo Perez (talk) 18:34, 21 February 2015 (UTC)

Evening At Pops

I noticed that you have completely removed all my edits. With all due respect, due you have proof that "Evening At Pops" is still on the air? I understand that PBS does air specials involving the Boston Pops on occasion, but the "Evening At Pops" program which was once a weekly series that aired during the 1970's & early 1980's on PBS no longer airs weekly to my knowledge.

Could you please clarify? Thanks for your time. JKSAW (talk) 14:01, 9 March 2015 (UTC)

JKSAW: As I stated in my edit summary "recorded so still exists". All episodes of this series have been recorded and can be and occasionally are re aired or are otherwise available to view. A recorded TV episode does not cease to exist once it has aired. You edited the article to basically state that all episodes of the series are either no longer in existence, none were ever recorded or that all recordings have been destroyed; which requires a reference. It is valid to state that any TV series is no longer airing first run episodes giving a range of start and stop dates, if that fact is referenced, but not that it has completely ceased to exist. Usually the formulation is xxx is a TV series that originally ran from date1 to date2. Geraldo Perez (talk) 14:15, 9 March 2015 (UTC)

iCarly and User:96.4.165.170

Hi Geraldo,

I just saw edits in the episode lists for seasons 3 thru 7 of iCarly by the above user, where the user was combining seasons, and changing the season numbers, episode numbers, and production codes (the user's contributions). As I'm not completely sure of the reasoning of the way the seasons came out, and I didn't see a column reference under production codes in the individual articles, I decided to revert all the edits. I'm right now reading the talk page for List of iCarly episodes to try to get caught up on the history of the show's production, and why the seasons are the way they are. MPFitz1968 (talk) 18:29, 13 March 2015 (UTC)

Reverting that was the correct thing to do. First the production codes were falsified with the changes. Also lots of history about why which episodes belong to which seasons all based on references. Geraldo Perez (talk) 18:32, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
Also MPFitz1968, even though the production codes don't have references, they were long established and form part of the production code anchors for the articles. At this late time the collateral damage from changing anchors is significant and even if it is decided to change the production codes for whatever reason a lot of work would be required to check for and fix any possible inbound wiklinks. Henry Danger

Whoops, yeah. Thanks! The DirecTV program guide recently started showing the season and episode numbers (e.g., S2, E18) before the episode title, and for some reason with some shows, the episode number is one number higher than it actually is. For example, the latest episode of Henry Danger was shown as S2, E19. I completely forgot about that, and I mistakenly used that instead of looking at the episode table on the article. -_- - Amaury (talk) 02:12, 15 March 2015 (UTC)

My recent edit I made adding comedy-drama to Steven Universe genre and deleted the reference was because regardless wether I removed it someone else will change it back to comedy, the show does contain dramatic moments so how can I add comedy-drama without it being removed? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.121.53.75 (talk) 02:57, 18 March 2015 (UTC)

Find a reference that says it is a comedy-drama, absent that it is original research or your personal evaluation. Most comedies have some dramatic moments and most dramas have comedic moments. Not enough to reclassify either as comedy-drama. Geraldo Perez (talk) 03:00, 18 March 2015 (UTC)

MLPComcast

Do you understand this? --AussieLegend () 17:37, 18 March 2015 (UTC)

Hi Geraldo Perez. With regards to User:MLPComcast, I don't think the reverts are exempt until the socks are confirmed. But either way, I'm going to weigh in on the edit war. Optakeover(Talk) 17:38, 18 March 2015 (UTC)

Optakeover: All the IPs are obvious socks per WP:DUCK (geo location and vandalism pattern) and don't need a checkuser to confirm that. New user is making same edits. I believe my invocation of WP:3RRNO#3 is well justified here. Can't let the damage to Wiki go unchecked. Also IP reports to SPI are somewhat discouraged for IP socks of this user because of constant changes and activity. Geraldo Perez (talk) 17:48, 18 March 2015 (UTC)
I see. Anyway, there is just too much vandalism activity on Wikipedia now, so I'll give this incident a miss. Thank you anyway for your attention. Optakeover(Talk) 17:50, 18 March 2015 (UTC)

Not "vandalism."

Uh, FYI, geraldo, I can't help that my IP address sometimes changes. Even when my cord was not disconnected for some reason, I'll find that my address has changed anyway.

Also FYI, adjusting an abbreviation (in this case, to differ from one that was already used, so as to avoid confusion, isn't "vandalism." Really, any edit you disagree with is just "vandalism" now? Give me a break!

65.130.204.146 (talk) 04:53, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

You are using another IP to evade a block and avoid scrutiny. I have the same ISP and known how this works. See also the discussion at WP:ANI#Abbreviation deleter. Obviously disruptive. Resolves to Time Warner Cable Internet LLC,US. Don't recognize this particular pattern though. Geraldo Perez (talk) 03:38, 23 March 2015 (UTC)
EvergreenFir: Also, generally with IPv6 the 2604:2000:A038:8900:: portion is what matters to identify the person. The last part of the IPv6 generally changes fairly rapidly so the only effective blocks are likely to need to be range blocks. Geraldo Perez (talk) 03:54, 23 March 2015 (UTC)

Ref Help

I just copied and pasted from the previous episode, changing information like the air date accordingly. I didn't realize the website I was viewing was a different one, and I've never referenced stuff before, so I'm not too sure how it works. Can you help me reference episode 13 here? NOT original research

I heard "oh my God" being used in Victorious, "son of a bitch" in Bob's Burgers, the s-word and bleeped f-word in The Jack and Triumph Show, and even "Jiminy Cricket" as an exclamation in Team Umizoomi and Jake and the Neverland Pirates. 108.47.207.75 (talk) 02:11, 30 March 2015 (UTC)

Just Curious

From what I've seen, most shows on Disney Channel run for four seasons nowadays, but I know that some of the older shows, like Phil of the Future and The Suite Life, only had two or three seasons -- and the latter I'm pretty sure wasn't canceled. So do you think Dog with a Blog was canceled or the creators and everyone else just felt three seasons was enough? - Amaury (talk) 02:07, 3 April 2015 (UTC)

No idea. Unless Disney says something, everything would just be speculation. Geraldo Perez (talk) 03:17, 3 April 2015 (UTC)
It seems to be something to do with the contract lengths. Neither of the Suite Life series was cancelled. "Zack & Cody" finished after 3 seasons and "On Deck" premiered 25 days later, essentially giving the Sprouse brothers a straight 6 year run. Debbie Ryan jumped straight from "On Deck" to "Jessie" and she said it was ending because her contract was up. That said, Miley Cyrus only lasted 5 years. --AussieLegend () 03:44, 3 April 2015 (UTC)

Mexico IPs and The Fairly OddParents

Hi GP, a couple of Mexican IPs have been attempting to redefine episode numbers for various seasons of The Fairly OddParents as well as submit unsourced production codes, for instance this IP and this IP. I'm thinking they're the same person since both IPs geolocate to the same place, Mexico, Distrito Federal and both are using Cablevision, S.A. de C.V. I've reached out to this IP and asked them to seek consensus first. Also, I'm reminded of Aaron27gg, who I've had to ask several times to not restructure episode numbering without consensus. Not sure they're related, but I wanted to give you a heads-up since you do edit in these parts. Danke, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 23:25, 19 April 2015 (UTC)

Cyphoidbomb: The production codes added look like they came from the copyright screen at the end of the episode, a primary source. Codes in the form 6ACV08 look like real production codes, not the production sequence codes that generally don't show up in the episode itself. I would need to see an episode to verify if that is true or not. Of course the person entering that info should be able to support their source if asked and I would expect an edit comment making that clear. Redefining episode numbers is disruptive because it screws up the epxx anchors for possible inbound links and should be changed only with strong consensus to do so and a commitment to fix inbound links to the episode list. Seems we have more than the normal amount of problems with Columbian, Mexican, Brazilian and Peruvian IP editors. Communication may be an issue if not native English-language speakers. Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:37, 19 April 2015 (UTC)
I picked a random episode from S6, Mission: Responsible/Hairicane, which the editor manipulated here. This episode, which the editor changed to #3, is listed as episode 2 at Amazon. Since I am a Prime customer, I can watch that episode free. I looked at the closing credits. There are 33 cards for credits before the Billionaire Studios production card, the Frederator production card, and then Nick's "splat". In none of these cards are there any production codes (or more appropriately, "episode codes", since each cart is produced with a unique code that rarely coincides directly with the final product--but I digress...) On the List of Mighty Med Episodes, that was not a personal analysis. It was a fact that can be seen on one of the sited sources at the bottom of the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.127.24.240 (talk) 22:51, 21 April 2015 (UTC)

This "This creates conflict in the show, making it interesting and attracting a large audience from all over the United States." is personal analysis and if some reviewer stated that, the reference needs to be cited attached to that. Don't expect people to search through all the references at the end of the article when this type of info is added. Geraldo Perez (talk) 22:57, 21 April 2015 (UTC)

On your radar?

Hi GP, is ScaredGnomeo on your radar? Account created in January 2015, first edit out of the gate was category creation. This edit was odd, b/c they'd ascribed a 2012 ending to Robot & Monster when the series did also air in 2014 and 2015, and that made me immediately paranoid. Unsourced air dates here, although the episode titles that were changed seem consistent with LocateTV (nothing at TVGuide, Zap, MSN though). Seems like the series was released in US Spring 2008, though, so maybe I'm just being nuts.[3] Thoughts? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:20, 24 April 2015 (UTC)

Trying something

Hi GP, quick question: can you see any episodes listed here? I'm trying to see if there's a way to establish a reliable source for Canadian air dates related to Oh No! It's an Alien Invasion. A user added airdates but the source they used was blank for me. I had to change my location to somewhere in Canada to get the episode list to display. Thus, I'm wondering if you see the list, or just a blank page by default. Thanks, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:01, 27 April 2015 (UTC)

@Cyphoidbomb: Looks fine to me, I see 14 episodes listed 4/27 to 4/30 2015. I've had problems seeing Zap2it pages that others' saw fine. My home DSL link wouldn't see stuff that my phone cell data could see for example. Assume DNS or ISP caching problems somehow. Geraldo Perez (talk) 16:15, 27 April 2015 (UTC)
OK, very good. Thank you, sir! Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:20, 27 April 2015 (UTC)

Who is this? Finealt?

Hey GP, take a look at this edit history and note all the page moves. He moved:

Cartoon Network (Europe) to Wikipedia:Cartoon Network (Africa) to Cartoon Network (Africa). This was fixed by Ahecht.
User then moved Cartoon Network (Africa) to Cartoon Network (MEA) to Cartoon Network (Africa & Cyprus) to Cartoon Network back to Cartoon Network (MEA) to Cartoon Network to Cartoon Network (EMEA) to Cartoon Network (MEA) again to Cartoon Network (EMEA) to Cartoon Network (Middle East & Africa)

I'm starting to get the sense he's a vandal. (Duh...) Any thoughts for a suspect? Finealt did a lot of page move crap. What's also weird, is that in 2014, that article was about Cartoon Network in Europe, but got corrupted here, and that just snowballed. Thoughts for how we should treat this? Roll back to 2014 and move the page back? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 13:51, 2 May 2015 (UTC)

I think you've done what is necessary with the SPI report. All his changes look disruptive and should probably be undone. The moves appear to be purposely designed to be complex and hard to understand and undo. Also suspicious that 80.89.182.0/24 (Nigeria) is him as well per interleaving edits. Geraldo Perez (talk) 14:25, 2 May 2015 (UTC)
Why do we even have unique articles on all these individual divisions? Cartoon Network Europe, Cartoon Network Middle East, Disney Asia, etc. Seems like there should be one article for "<NETWORK> international", sections for each entity, with brief chunks of sourced content. That article is four paragraphs of unsourced prose, a giant list of unsourced current and former programming, and little else. It seems that what we should be focusing on is original programming generated for these divisions, not noting that Quick Draw McGraw aired in reruns there. I dunno. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 14:55, 2 May 2015 (UTC)
I suspect that all fail WP:GNG for lack of "... significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject...". Suggest a PROD with that as reason, then AfD if PROD deleted. There really is little value here and all info can be put in sections of Cartoon Network. Program listings is just noise and IMO no value. Geraldo Perez (talk) 15:06, 2 May 2015 (UTC)

Another Mexican IP

Yo, I've noticed some Mexican IPs 189.217.85.1 and 189.217.65.129 making a bunch of changes to Fairly OddParents articles, SpongeBob articles, re-doing colors, renumbering of episodes. I'm not quite sure the edits are disruptive, but it's yet another IP that never speaks anywhere or discusses crap. Here they had the wherewithal to open an edit request, but of course it was blank. What's Team TV's attitude toward this silent editor stuff? (We've got more prolific people editing with the same behavior. Phil A. Fry, for instance...but let's deal with the IP first...) Cyphoidbomb (talk) 05:09, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

Ah, well from the flare-up of reverts, I see I've piqued your interest! :D Cyphoidbomb (talk) 05:14, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

Changing episode numbering is disruptive as they form the #epnn anchors used for inbound links that get broken. Should be discussed and a plan made to fix the potentially broken inbounds. Likely won't/can't communicate as possibly not English competent. It is annoying as collaboration not possible but if they stick to minor things and cleanups not usually a problem. Changing episode numbering is not minor. Geraldo Perez (talk) 05:21, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

Episode Count

When it comes to shows like SpongeBob SquarePants or Rugrats that have or had two 10-minute episodes, sometimes with a five-minute episode in-between (SpongeBob, for example, did this quite a bit in the early seasons), do we count all that as one episode because it all airs within the 30-minute time slot (counting commercials) or two/three episodes? Looking at some articles like this, if it's the case of the latter, episode counts are severely outdated. - Amaury (talk) 01:57, 5 May 2015 (UTC)

@Amaury: Probably best to raise this at WT:TV for project input. Should leave things as they are for existing episode articles as long as it is consistently applied for all the articles for a specific show. Changing episode numbering for existing stuff is disruptive as it changes the #epxx anchors and breaks possibly inbound links to episode entries from other articles so any changes should gain wide acceptance through discussion. Generally I consider an episode to be based on the credits. One set of credits, opening and closing, means one episode. Geraldo Perez (talk) 17:11, 5 May 2015 (UTC)

@Geraldo Perez: Yup, that's why I asked first (and I saw your revert of another user regarding that). And yeah, the makes a lot of sense, actually, and that's how it's being done now, so why fix something that isn't broken. :) Amaury (talk) 17:18, 5 May 2015 (UTC)

Talk:List of Cyberchase episodes

Hi GP, could you take a look at Talk:List of Cyberchase episodes? I'm getting some static from a well-intentioned user who doesn't seem to understand WP:TVUPCOMING or WP:TVOVERVIEW and I'm not sure I'm explaining myself well. (Not entirely true, I know I'm explaining myself well.) The list of episodes has a lot of problems including random trivia and a poor focus. If you get a sec, I'd appreciate it. Thanks mang, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 00:07, 6 May 2015 (UTC)

Oh I just noticed that Aussie is working in the article, so he may get around to commenting. (I asked him yesterday or so.) You're still welcome to if you wanna. Thanks, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 00:11, 6 May 2015 (UTC)

While I do trust your judgment, I just think we should add, or someone else, a second source. Not everyone on Wikipedia is from the US (e.g. me; from Canada) and not everyone knows the VPN technique. I do, but I don't use it. Not every user does. Just a thought. Like you said, it has to be possible to be verified by everyone. Callmemirela (Go Habs Go!) 23:54, 9 May 2015 (UTC)

@Callmemirela: It is also possible for anyone interested to travel to the US to have access to the video or ask a trusted person in the US (for example, me hopefully) to view it on their behalf and report info verified. Like I said possible does not necessarily mean easy although easy is best. Another reference supporting the info would be great to make it easy for others. In 6 days the episode will have aired and the episode itself will be the published reliable source for its own content, including credits. Normally I'd be happy to wait but this issue is causing the article to be unstable so I think it best to go with what we have until then. Geraldo Perez (talk) 00:08, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
You can also tag stuff with {{Verify source}} to get others to check it out if you can't. Geraldo Perez (talk) 00:14, 10 May 2015 (UTC)

CSD or PROD?

GP, could you please look at Arthur (season 19). I nommed it for speedy delete under hoax criteria, but a third editor EoRdE6 didn't think it qualified. The refs being used relate to season 18, not 19, so to me it looks like a kid's trying to introduce BS, where EoRdE6 is assuming good faith that the kid is a n00b and just copy/pasted content to get the article started. I'm PRODing it for now, but your feedback is appreciated and I don't mind being wrong. Thanks, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:42, 15 May 2015 (UTC)

Episodes named are supported by Zap2it but listed for season 18 as you noted. I think editor is good faith declaring a new season because of the gap but that is not supported by the references. PROD looks good for this, doesn't really meet speedy criteria as it is possible he is right but doesn't have supporting references. Geraldo Perez (talk) 16:53, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
(edit conflict) I think I'm going to pull back on this one. Although I can't find a good ref that supports S19 (this is garbage) but there are whispers). Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:55, 15 May 2015 (UTC)

Hello, User:Geraldo Perez, thank you very much for the appreciative help regarding copyright and its basic rules, but I have a really good question that has been bothering me lately, I know I cannot upload directly to Commons from the internet without the use of permission from the author, but if I was the author of the file, e.g a picture, that I only did a screenshot of it from a device, then used it to upload to Commons. Does that violate any rules whatsoever? I personally find this question a good one, but I bet that numerous users have asked. The users will see it as the file being uploaded from the internet, obviously, and have a report of copyright. I intend desperately to know how does this works, if you please User:Geraldo Perez. Thanks again in advance. ~Cry (talk) 19:41, 18 May 2015 (UTC)

@CryOCed: Simple rule for Commons that will keep you out of trouble:
Don't upload anything and claim it as yours unless you personally took the picture with your own camera. No screenshots, no pictures found on net.
Some of that may be permitted if you carefully know and follow the rules but when starting out it is better to keep it easy to understand. Anything you yourself didn't take with your own camera belongs to someone else. You don't get to claim ownership if you just copied it or modified it either. It might be uploadable if you can prove permission, but you must accurately state who owns it, where you got it, what the license is, and where the permission can be found. Full set of Commons rules are at c:Commons:Copyright rules, also mentioned in welcome and copyright messages at c:User talk:CryOCed. Geraldo Perez (talk) 20:01, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
I am much delight for the informative reply User:Geraldo Perez, Thank you so much. Now I finally got it inside my cortex, but if I was to screenshot something and upload it into Commons, does that mean I can use the "Upload file from your own work" category? or should I find another picture of the same type and find the author that I can ask to grant me permission? ~Cry (talk) 20:10, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
@CryOCed: Pretty much anything you screenshot can't be uploaded to commons, particularly anything from a TV show. Don't use "Upload file from you own work" category unless it is a picture you personally took with your own camera. Some stuff Commons won't permit may be uploadable to the ENWiki (here) if you can justify fair-use - see WP:Image use policy and use WP:File Upload Wizard here. Commons is the preferred location for free-use stuff as all wiki projects can use it, not just this one.
@Geraldo Perez: Thank you for the informative answer, now I know why my pictures kept getting deleted, sorry for the picture spam and thank you very much. :) ~Cry (talk) 05:21, 19 May 2015 (UTC)

Why do you revert the change back to "American" when Ramirez was a Mexican-American. Go check Cesar Chavez's page; why is it okay to call Chavez a Mexican American, rather than simply an American, but for Ramirez, he MUST be labeled as an American?

Double standard? — Preceding unsigned comment added by TotallyFUN (talkcontribs) 23:05, 28 May 2015 (UTC)

Funny how you prevent me form changing that; it's fact, Ramirez is a Mexican-American. Nationality goes in that section of article. Mexican-American is an ethnicity, not a nationality. Born in U.S. means American. Other articles doing it wrong do not set a precedent.Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:31, 28 May 2015 (UTC)

Rydel Lynch page

Hey, you removed my edit on the page Rydel Lynch. I have proof that Rydel's and Ellington Ratliff's relationship was confirmed in R5's documentary movie "All Day, All Night". http://www.m-magazine.com/posts/rydel-lynch-confirms-she-is-dating-ellington-ratliff-in-r5-all-day-all-night-56349 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rydellingtonaf (talkcontribs) 18:06, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

@Rydellingtonaf: See Help:Referencing for beginners and add that as a reference. Minimally put url between <ref> and </ref> tags and put this after info added. Without a good reference that type of info must be removed from the articles as a violation of WP:BLP policy. Geraldo Perez (talk) 18:11, 14 June 2015 (UTC)

Girl Meets World

Hi,

Please, don't delete Farkle's last name from the Girl Meets World page since his name is Farkle Minkus as it's been said in Girl Meets Maya's Mother. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Channelboy (talkcontribs) 17:42, 20 June 2015 (UTC)

@Channelboy: Please see the discussion about this on the article talk page and add your comments there. Geraldo Perez (talk) 18:16, 20 June 2015 (UTC)
I have also tried to explain the issue at Channelboy's Talk page. I will note that Channelboy has made no effort to discuss this issue for themselves at Talk:Girl Meets World either. --IJBall (contribstalk) 18:35, 20 June 2015 (UTC)

Hello again, Geraldo Perez! I'm having a little trouble understanding this. There are two episodes that have the same number, but are separated: 14A and 14B. 14A only aired in Brazil, but I'm not sure if that means 14B is an entirely different episode, if it's just the American and other countries' version of the episode, or if it's a two-part episode (like Degrassi commonly does)? If the former, why didn't "14A" air in the US and other countries? I think this could be made clearer. Amaury (talk) 03:08, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

@Amaury: IMDb is not a reliable source, so anything added that is contentious using IMDb as a reference should probably be removed. Also what happens in Brazil doesn't belong in the list of episodes for a US show anyway and anything listed in the article that has not aired should be removed as well. Geraldo Perez (talk) 05:31, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
@Geraldo Perez: Thanks for the reply. I've removed it. Amaury (talk) 05:37, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

i knew that my minor edit on Courtney Eaton's page was reverted. just for note, i got that information from other website that could be trusted. here's the link http://www.imdb.com/name/nm5196907/bio

wikipedia is a public website, everyone could be free for making a new page or editing an existing page. even if you're an admin, I think you do not deserve to change other people's edits without providing an explanation first.

@Acoen03: I did provide an explanation in the edit history when I undid your edit and on your talk page. Everyone can edit wiki but there are restrictions on what can be added and all edits must conform to Wikipedia policies, one of which is Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons which requires references for personal info about living people. You added a birthdate and didn't provide the required reference and I removed that unreferenced info and told you in the message on your talk page about the need for a reference. Also check out WP:BLPPRIVACY about the additional care that must be given about birth info. IMDb is not a reliable source of anything as it is edited by anonymous people and fact checking is sporadic. See article at WP:RS/IMDB for more. Geraldo Perez (talk) 14:03, 24 June 2015 (UTC)

WP:TVINTL

Hi GP, could I bug you to please put an eye on Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog? An IP editor keeps adding unsourced content and analysis that isn't consistent with WP:TVINTL. I've opened a discussion Talk:Adventures_of_Sonic_the_Hedgehog#WP:TVINTL here, directly invited the IP to discuss, but they keep submitting the same problematic content. Clearly a POV thing happening here and I'm at the end of my reverts. Thanks m'man. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:59, 26 June 2015 (UTC)

User:107.188.*.* at Best Friends Whenever

Hi Geraldo,

This edit by IP user 107.188.5.222, which reports viewership numbers from the premiere of that show on Disney Channel, concerns me ... specifically the reference used and past behavior from the 107.188.*.* family of addresses. As you noted in this edit at List of Girl Meets World episodes, the site wix.com is unreliable as anybody can create pages there, and I reverted the edit at Best Friends Whenever on the same grounds. But then the user, under a different IP address (107.188.17.38), comes back to revert my edit [6] asking what's wrong with the source. Three thoughts pop into my head: (1) the IP address family 107.188.*.* has done quite a bit of viewership vandalism at List of Girl Meets World episodes when it hasn't been semi-protected (its current semi-protection ends in a few days, btw); (2) recently blocked Catty319 tried to put up a similar fight on any revert having to do with the viewership numbers and sources to back them (at List of Girl Meets World episodes), insisting that unreliable sources, including from the aforementioned wix.com, were correct; (3) there may be some connection between 107.188.*.* and the Jt029350 sockpuppet ring, though the only thing I can point to has to do with the tone of the edit summaries or talk page discussions but any proof for sockpuppetry associated with the IP isn't strong, at least to me. What do you think? MPFitz1968 (talk) 17:25, 27 June 2015 (UTC)

Source for Nick Shows

While Zap It is a good and consistent source for Disney Channel and Disney XD, I can't seem to find one for Nickelodeon. Would you happen to know where their episodes' sources come from? Looking at sources, they're also Zap It, but a different kind, where the air dates don't appear to be reliable. Amaury (talk) 01:58, 28 June 2015 (UTC)

@Amaury: Zap2it generally has stuff early but it is sometime too early and gets changed. Futon Critic is usually pretty accurate and has Nick stuff. For example see http://www.thefutoncritic.com/showatch/henry-danger/listings/ Geraldo Perez (talk) 03:23, 28 June 2015 (UTC)
Gotcha. I just figured it out, though. Yay! This is what I found originally for Nick, but it looks like for the Disney Channel and Disney XD ones, we were using the TV schedule (notice the URL). Funny how such a small difference. If you look a the new section for the first URL above, you'll notice they all say June 27, but the TV schedule one has more accurate dates. Amaury (talk) 03:38, 28 June 2015 (UTC)

@Geraldo Perez: Thanks! I realized shortly after I removed too much and was going to come back and re-add it. Amaury (talk) 22:28, 28 June 2015 (UTC)

I think it is more evenly spread, just that they share fewer IP ranges and that amplifies their appearance. Also possible that in less-developed places the English speaking wiki editors are more the techy nerd type with all the stereotypical behavior that implies. There are certain IP ranges that I cringe when I see because of this but when I look into it more there are far too many good edits by others in those ranges to permit range blocks. I want to saw this show is done. I noticed one of the actors is on Dan's New show Game Shakers. And another is on another show. Just letting you know. I leave it to let you decied what to do. — Preceding unsigned comment added by WP Editor 2012 (talkcontribs) 15:49, 8 July 2015 (UTC)

@WP Editor 2012: Depends on what the actor does. Easy to be a guest star or recurring on multiple shows for the same network as they will make sure the schedules work. Good for the actor as it gives them more work. Very unlikely to be starring in two shows at the same time though although a rare guest appearance on some another show is generally easy to work in. If shown starring in two shows would suspect one will be ending before the other starts. Geraldo Perez (talk) 16:25, 8 July 2015 (UTC)
That's why I am saying the show is over since, the actor is a main character for Game Shakers. So I defiantly think it's over. So could we just change the end date, do you think to March 5th. WP Editor 2012 (talk) 16:37, 8 July 2015 (UTC)
I understood that was what you were leading up to. It is possible, however, unlikely as it may look now, that there are produced episodes of Haunted Hathaways still to be aired. I would be real nice if Nick gave an explicit statement that Haunted Hathaways is done airing. Putting multiple references together to reach a conclusion – new show for lead cast, all produced episodes have aired – is original research. Now if some reliable source made that conclusion, we could use it. As it stands now Haunted Hathaways seems stable with only the end date not being provided in the infobox. It is a tentative compromise for what is required in the infobox instructions and I suggest leave it be until March 5, 2016, the 1 year point. Geraldo Perez (talk) 16:54, 8 July 2015 (UTC)

Mighty Med

Obviously, they missed the pun. ;) Amaury (talk) 16:07, 12 July 2015 (UTC)

I was only going by the IP. Although the date was actually mentioned in a commercial that came on while I was watching the channel a few days ago, but obviously that can't be used as a source. ;) Amaury (talk) 18:07, 13 July 2015 (UTC)

@Amaury: I'm conflicted a bit about this. Commercials are transient but obviously the info is correct as you have verified it. This should be on a published schedule somewhere. It might to be a special for both shows, might count as an episode for both, might be an episode for one show and not the other. It may not show up in the normal episode list location - it would be great if we found something easily verifiable that told us what is going on. Geraldo Perez (talk) 18:16, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
@Geraldo Perez: Indeed. I'm not seeing anything on the episode guides for July 22. Lab Rats: Bionic Island Episode Guide | Mighty Med Episode Guide. However, I did manage to find a video on YouTube, even though it's still not reliable according to policy, mentioning July 22: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKsG9SfH1js Amaury (talk) 18:44, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
@Amaury: I found this and added it for the date. Looks to cover both normal scheduled slots and likely will be considered an episode for both shows because of that. Geraldo Perez (talk) 18:56, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
@Geraldo Perez: Perfect! Don't forget List of Mighty Med episodes. I didn't want to get it and potentially cause a conflict in case you were in the process of doing so. Amaury (talk) 19:04, 13 July 2015 (UTC)

Bunk'd

Thanks for these changes. I looked in earnest but could not find the eps at Zap. I'm starting to lose confidence in them. The inconsistencies from page to page and the difficulty of finding stuff, along with their weird Episode List glitches (where today's date, no matter what the date is, is used for upcoming episodes) is causing me concern. </rant> Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:18, 18 July 2015 (UTC)

@Cyphoidbomb:It is only for transient titles info that they seem to get the jump on every other guide. Futon usually catches up and is better. It is annoying. I tried to catch the proper ep guide with WebCite but they ended up archiving the grid both times I tried it. What I ended up doing was clicking on the titles when the ep guide did appear once to capture the individual episode descriptions. Still a major hassle but I didn't want to undo the good work that Channelboy did in getting the info in the first place. Geraldo Perez (talk) 16:28, 18 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi I am coming to you for help on an issue because I don't want to go against the rules of Wikipedia editing but Their in a use editing on the Austin Matelson page placing a middle name without a strong source and is also not evening attempting to source what he is posting and I know for a fact their needs to be a creditable source in order to be placing contriversal items on a page if done research myself on the person even created the page myself and found no information based on the middle name he has been in trouble before for posting incorrect items before so I'd appreciate if you would help out on the matter since you are an Admin with knowledge on the sorts Thank you hope to hear back soon JMichael22 (talk) 13:22, 18 July 2015 (UTC)

Thank You so much for your help I truly appreciate it greatly JMichael22 (talk) 19:02, 18 July 2015 (UTC)

Sorry about that

I didn't mean to cause trouble and apologize if I did. I did heed the hidden comments, but for the Austin & Ally crossover, I noticed the comment was a bit different in that it had "for now" at the end, making it sound like it was only temporary to see if the dispute from however long ago would seize. title is contentious and people keep changing it to something else so leave title references in for now. That's why I removed that one. Amaury (talk) 23:19, 18 July 2015 (UTC)

@Amaury: I appologize as well, I was a bit fast to revert, the edits you make are usually fine it is just that when there is a large amount of changes to an article it is hard to see what was done. I usually comment on contentious stuff for cites to stay. That particular one caused a lot of edit hassles at the time. I am hesitant to remove it yet. If in doubt about a reference it is best to leave it. They are harmless to have. Title refs can generally go once an ep has aired. References attached to the summaries are probably going to be needed to be kept. Geraldo Perez (talk) 23:49, 18 July 2015 (UTC)

Can't seem to figure out why the list of episodes link is leading to the article 26. As there's only one season currently, shouldn't it just redirect back to the 100 Things to Do Before High School article? Amaury (talk) 03:35, 19 July 2015 (UTC)

@Amaury: Fixed, see diff. Geraldo Perez (talk) 03:56, 19 July 2015 (UTC)

So today's new episode introduced Lauren's parents, but I can't figure out if they are guest stars, recurring characters, or were just absent for the first two episodes, which is weird because Disney shows have parents in just about every episode and always in the pilot, making them main characters. So I did some searching and the only thing I could find was this. Additionally, if you have a look here and here, you can also see both episodes one and two had other recurring characters (according to the wiki)/guest stars. I'd like to add them to the cast and characters here, but obviously I can't use that as a reference. However, I can't find anything else, not even on the official site, because it's missing the characters section for the show (some other shows are as well, while some, like Austin & Ally, have them). I'm just leaving them out for now, but I definitely feel they're worth being listed. Amaury (talk) 01:53, 20 July 2015 (UTC)

@Amaury: Ignore wikia of course. The only thing the we have is the episodes themselves and the credits as listed in the episode. Opening credits are main cast. Closing credits should identify cast as Special guest star, Guest star or co-star (ignore co-star as that is a minor credit). Rarely a cast member will get a pure "Starring" credit at the end and that is equivalent to being in the opening credits. Can't say recurring until in multiple episodes fairly regularly. If that is all we have then that is all we can put in the article. Eventually Disney should populate its official page with more info but the episode itself is still the authoritative source of credit info. Sometimes Futon critic, Zap2it, TV Guide, Variety has more info and they are all generally reliable. Geraldo Perez (talk) 02:05, 20 July 2015 (UTC)
I think I get it now. Any main characters will always be in the opening sequence. Recurring and definitely guest stars won't. Thankfully, it's on my DVR because I thought I was going to have to miss it at first. There are guest stars. Amaury (talk) 02:19, 20 July 2015 (UTC)
@Amaury: Recurring characters usually get a "Guest star" end credit when they appear. They become classified (generally by wiki editors) as recurring if they show up a lot as "Guest stars". When you watch the credits look for the character name next to the actor's names as that is what we want to put in the article. Geraldo Perez (talk) 04:11, 20 July 2015 (UTC)

Just a quick question

Do you have any technical qualifications relating to the discussion we're having at Infobox television season? I'm only asking because I do, and you seem to have a much better appreciation of what we need to do to solve the situation than certain other editors do. Feel free to email me if you'd rather not respond here and I quite understand if your response is "I'd rather not say". I'm just being inquisitive as I'm trying to stay out of the discussion as much as possible because that editor and I just don't get on and I don't want the discussion to go off-track - you can see how he's already sunk to accusations of canvassing simply because I notified the TV project of the reason that all the infoboxes were being screwed up. In any case, I agree with everything you've said and suggested so far. Cheers. --AussieLegend () 04:07, 22 July 2015 (UTC)
