Explanations

[edit]

I took my picture out and changed my user name for the same reason -- anonymity. My name is still visible anyway so I'll "re"-add my picture. I'm from Hyderabad (Deccan), which explains why my contributions are all associated with this city. Thanks for your interest. Please let me know if you need any editing or contributions. I'll be happy to oblige. Salma 04:40, 24 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Qawwali

[edit]

It is nice to see someone so passionate about Qawwali engaging with the Wikipedia.

I have made the move to Qawwali as the main article on the subject. What do you think?

By the way, have you heard traditional Qawwalis much? Nusrat Fateh brought a lot of us to the form, but there is also great depth and richness in the wider tradition and its spiritual background...iFaqeer (Talk to me!) 02:31, Apr 19, 2005 (UTC)

Nice to hear back from you. And nice to see a young fan of Qawwali that is in touch with traditional Qawwali.
Here's something you might be interested in: I have just finally got to publishing my thoughts and translations on Sufi Poetry in Urdu. For now, it will be mainly on the following page:

[edit]

A reference for Islamic and Muslim cultural concepts often referred to in the zeitgeit/pop culture, you mean :D. That's a long title, but it's needed. It would be a counterpart to: List of Islamic terms in Arabic....I like it. I am sure we can structure it so it ... er ... helps enhance the usefulness of Wikipedia as a reference rather than is just a refutation page.

First thing we need to do is check if there isn't already such a page :DiFaqeer (Talk to me!) 04:25, Apr 28, 2005 (UTC)

AOA

Congrats on the cogent arguments on Islam. Well put.

I think we share many of the same concerns about Islam-bashing on WP, which has really reached shameful levels. (Take a look at the claims re: textual criticsm on Qur'an if you're looking for something else to get angry about, which I doubt.)

When you get a chance, can you email me at yusuf.toropov@gmail.com? I have an idea I'd like to discuss with you. Ma-salaam, BYT BrandonYusufToropov 20:40, 12 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Origins of the name "Anonymous editor"

[edit]

Originally written by Farhansher: "Hi , whatsup with this name"

LOL. Do you like it? I chose it a week ago on the "Islam and other religions" section when user zora told said that instead of being an "anonymous editor" I should take a name. So, from then on I became known as the "Anonymous editor".

About me: I usually focus on Islam and Islam-related articles as I converted to Islam recently. Like many others, I hate extreme POVs and Islam-bashing especially by people who know nothing about this great religion.

Thanks for asking.

No, I did not come because of an invitation from a forum. Thanks...--Anonymous editor 22:41, Jun 6, 2005 (UTC)

In response:

Yes, I underestand completely, but I still believe that we should provide viewers with an appropriate list of general links that educate them about the religion. This is integral to clarify the tenets of the religion. Very few users will actaully use directory for general info about the religion. Critical links are given in the directory and I clearly restate that a religion does not need POV in the first place because it is factuality rather than an issue. The links I listed are factual and I ofcourse did not link them for POV, but for factuality. But, yes, I do understand what you were saying, thanks for informing me. --Anonymous editor 19:10, Jun 12, 2005 (UTC)

HI Farhanser, I noticed that you asked some people from certain forums to come to Wikipedia to start editing the Islam pages. We've recently had an outbreak of trouble on these pages. Can you tell me please which forums you posted that message on? Mysticism

[edit]

Hmmm. Theoretically, there can be mysticism in the Islamic context outside of Sufism, which is usually based on Sunni tradition. Moved 'evidence' pages to your user namespace

[edit]

I moved "Sina plans to attack WP : Thread 1" to User:Farhansher/Sina plans to attack WP : Thread 1 and "Sina plans to attack WP : Thread 2" to User:Farhansher/Sina plans to attack WP : Thread 2. These are not articles and should not be in the article namespace. In your user namespace, it's unlikely they'll be deleted, but you could also move them to Talk: subpages or the Wikipedia: namespace (in the latter, though, they'll probably get deleted).

Opposition, Criticism, or Anti-

[edit]

With the exception of Islam, most major religions have "Anti-". For example, Anti-Judaism, Anti-Catholicism, Anti-Protestantism, Criticism of Islam, Criticism of Mormonism. The problem with the title "Opposition to Mormonism" is that it is tooo POV. Opposition to illegal drugs, opposition to racisim, ok. How POV can you get about the pros and cons of racism? LoL. The only diehard opponents to Mormonism are other Christians. The old title assumes that all people are opposed to the religion, or that few people question reasons for its opposition, which is just not true. Anyway, I would like for you to edit the Criticism of Islam article. The article is accessible via the Islam template. As it currently stands, the article makes little attempt at being non-POV. --JuanMuslim 04:48, 20 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

As for the Dhul-Qarnayn article, I think its better to focus on the article Criticism of Islam. It's full of inaccuracies and exaggerations. تبادله خيال actually means exchange of thoughts . There were better words for this . Like pure persian گفت وشنید , or hindi version بات چـیت . So خيال means thoughts in Urdu. I tried to figure it out somehow as it means perceptions/dreams in Arabic (khayal), while (khiyyal) would mean horses and that's why I said it ;). The list that I worked on contained scientists mostly from Iran and Persia. But I did give a list of names and short biographies of non-Iranian muslim scientists to User:Yuber a while ago. Hey, before you do any more work just know that it should be Category:Muslim_scientists... no capital for scientist... just thought you should know since it will have to be changed at some point. Also, you're getting into tricky ground with Arab astronomoers being Muslim scientists... to an extent yes.... but, we mustn't forget that Arab does not equal Muslim... because, in literature at least Arab Christians helped with a huge revival during An-nahdah Al-adabiyah... (do we have an article on that?). So... the first thing is just techinical... the second gets a lot trickier and I don't think we can really generalize quite that much. gren グレン 12:17, 25 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think it would be better if we started a single article named Sufi Philosophies and add cosmology & Lataif-e-Sitta in it . Since there will be a lot more concepts/philosophies coming up , I think it would be nice to have all of them in one article , rather than different pages . F.a.y.تبادله خيال /c 21:33, 28 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Why not both? My conception of an ideal wiki article is a hub, linking to related texts. You can always summarise on a central page, but whey lose content which can exist on a subpage? Sufi philosopy is going to result in a huge amount of content, over time. What we need to do is set up a good framework. Sam Spade 21:37, 28 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Sure I can help a bit with North African Sufism, it is radically different from Sufism practiced by non-native speakers of Arabic though and I'll have to explain tons of it.--The Brain 09:31, 12 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, for this picture you need to add what license you release it under since you are the creator. [edit]

Dear Farhansher , I did several edits to Sufism article , my goal was to clarify what different people think about Sufism , I guess it is worth its effort because no branch of Islam is prone to basic misunderstanding as Sufism. Some call it basically of non-Islamic origin and some try to define it in the framework of orthodox Islam to the point of ignoring the fact that Sufism is indeed more than religious piety and devotion.IF you feel my edits present a distorted image , please add or change as needed.Pasha 04:02, 20 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You said that the Qu'ran doesn't say that turning away from Islam is punishable by death, and that that sentence was put in the article by an islamaphobe. Salah

[edit]

Salaam. By your edits to the salah thread, I'm going to go out on a limb and say you are Sunni and you follow the Hanafi mahdhab? I say this because of your seperating the Duha and the Ishraq. While most of the sub-continent hanafi ulema will say that it is two seperate prayers, many of the Arab hanafi's, as well as, to my knowledge, the ulema of the other mahdhabs will say that it is just one prayer. Pepsidrinka 22:03, 27 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, mentioning that it is mostly according to hanafi scholars. Also, make sure you keep it NPOV, mentioning that the majority of these prayers are not performed by Shi'as, and are in fact considered a bidah. FYI, I also follow the hanafi madhab. Pepsidrinka 22:13, 27 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Offensive jihad

[edit]

Dude, you should only replace an article with a redirect when what you're redirecting to provides an adequate substitute. Unfortunately, the article "Combative jihad" is a chaotic ungrammatical misspelled disorganized mess (with a stupid name) which does not provide an adequate substitute for the "Offensive jihad" article at this time. Therefore, stop blanking the Offensive jihad" article. AnonMoos 02:45, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It never occured to me that you lived IN Pakistan. I figured you were Pakistani living in a western country, but that is what I get for assuming. Nonetheless, I have heard Eid stories from friends and relatives from Pakistan that Eid is alot more exciting over there, and in other Muslim countries in general. Eid over here is really just limited to the first day (both eid al-fitr and eid al-adha) where we do our salat, visit elders and other relatives, and then a big community get together during the night. It's good though, nothing to complain about. Well I guess I can complain about how much better Pakistani food is in Pakistan than over here. Enjoy. Pepsidrinka 20:40, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Allah

[edit]

Hi Farhansher! Literally speaking, Allah or Al-lah means "The God" (as you can see the definite article of Al which means The in English). However, theologically, the issue is a bit complex. When you say la ilah illa allah this would translate to there's no god but The God. IMO, as of most Muslims, Allah is the arabic word of God (the Abrahamic God). Lahoot is a derived word, yes. I took a look at those pages (i.e. Infidel/Kafir/People of the Book, there was another one), and looking through the history, its the usual people reverting, over essentially semantics. I think of the pages had content that was being disputed, but its really just a game they seem to be playing. Essentially the same people are/were involved with Dhimmi Watch and Jihad Watch. Right now those articles redirect to Robert Spencer. I don't think there's any reasoning these people to see one way or the other; each side is determined to have thier "version" put forth without any care for what the other side is even saying. [edit]

Hi. I am a bot, and I am writing to you with a request. I would like to ask you, if possible, to use edit summaries a bit more often when you contribute. The reason an edit summary is important is because it allows your fellow contributors to understand what you changed; you can think of it as the "Subject:" line in an email. For your information, your current edit summary usage is 21% for major edits and 50% for minor edits. (Based on the last 150 major and 40 minor edits in the article namespace.)

This is just a suggestion, and I hope that I did not appear impolite. You do not need to reply to this message, but if you would like to give me feedback, you can do so at the feedback page. Thank you, and happy edits, Mathbot 20:31, 26 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Here is a portion of Alhizb Al-kabir (the big Hizb) (Arabic: الحزب الكبير) , it deals with fear, God was talking in the majority of the Ayats to Moses his brother Aron and their mother (once in (20:77)). They are in this specific order. They are somtimes part of the Ayat (verse):

Draw near, and fear not. Verily, you are of those who are secure. (28:31)

"Fear you not. You have escaped from the people who are wrong-doers." (28:25)

Fearing (or fear) neither to be overtaken [by Pharaoh] nor being afraid (of drowning in the sea)." (20:77)

"Fear not! Surely, you will have the upper hand. (20:68)

"Fear not, verily! I am with you both, hearing and seeing. (20:46)

Fear not, verily! The Messengers fear not in front of Me. (27:10)

And He will surely give them in exchange a safe security after their fear. (24:55)

And has made them safe from fear. (106:4)

(Then the Sufi prays): Allah (God) please secure and shelter us from all fear.....

Re: Some Articles

[edit]

Hi Farhansher,

Yes, I saw edits of Pecher on the dhimmi article. I have a meeting with my advisor tomorrow, and then after doing some research, I'll try to help making this and other articles more NPov. Have nice times --Aminz 21:54, 8 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I really don't know what we should do with Pecher. First of all, he is assuming that whatever some scholars has said is true. Instead of writing them as the opinion of some scholar he writes it as a fact. Secondly, some of his quotes are clearly wrong. I think it would be good to provide evidences that the quotes are not facts. This will implicitly discredit the scholar that has made such quotes. Pecher clearly will not like it and may revert it. Adding the picture of Maimonides is irrelevant to the article, but he insists on adding the picture. I'll ask Yid613 who is a Jew to help us. Maybe that would help. --Aminz 01:14, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I should add that I just realized that Pecher have had some very useful contributions to the article. Maybe I was kind of unjust when I was talking about him. But of course, some of his edits are POV. --Aminz 07:27, 10 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Alexander in the Qur'an article

[edit]

Just a question about the part [12].

I don't know much about the Homer's view of the world, but it seems to me that if Qur'an wants to refer to this theory, it should say that "The sun rises/sets from/in the ocean (which is not fetid)". Is that true? Also, The title reads as sun rising from the fetid sea but I see the " spring of murky water" in translation. Does this support the Homer's view of the world? Thanks --Aminz 10:30, 21 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

We started a proposal Wikipedia:Wikiethics to state the existing policies coherently and make suggestions on improving the editorial standards in Wiki. I thought you might be interested in contributing to that proposal.

Unfortunately, a pro-porn and pro-offense lobby is trying to make this proposal a failure. They unilaterally started an approval poll although almost no one including me believe that it is time for a vote, simply because the policy is not ready. It is not even written completely.

Editors who thinks that it needs to be improved rather than killed by an unfair poll at the beginning of the proposal, started another poll ('Do we really need a poll at this stage?') at the same time. The poll is vandalized for a while but it is stable now. A NO vote on this ('Do we really need a poll now?') poll will strengthen the position of the editors who are willing to improve the policy further.

If you have concerns about the ethics and editorial standards in Wiki, please visit the page Wikipedia:Wikiethics with your suggestions on the policy. We have two subpages: Arguments and Sections. You might want to consider reviewing these pages as well...

Thanks in advance. Resid Gulerdem 19:43, 22 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A BIG THANK YOU for your support--Aminz 13:33, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, I don't know how the copyright law is; but I can at least say that for example many sentence of the criticism of Islam article, part Muhammad: [13] such as: "Western scholars such as Sprenger, Nöldeke, Weil, Sir William Muir, Koelle, Grimme and D. S. Margoliouth give a more positive estimate of Muhammed's life and character and agree as to his motives, prophetic call, and sincerity. They suggest that Muhammad was at first sincere but later became deceptive. Koelle finds "the key to the first period of Muhammad's life in Khadija, his first wife", after whose death he became prey to his "evil passions". Sprenger attributes Muhammed's revelations to epileptic fits or a "paroxysm of cataleptic insanity"" are exactly copied and pasted from Catholic Encyclopedia. I don't know who have done this. It seems to me that Catholic Encyclopedia is one of big sources for this part of the article. If we really analyze that article for example, we see that the editors have been familar with certain sources and filled in the article with quotes from their sources. This is not new thing. It occurs over and over in wikipedia. Many articles are like this.

I have a suggestion: Can we get the copyright permission from IslamOnline; At least a permission that we can quote from them (if it is not already allowed). They should be willing to issue such permission since wikipedia has a lot of readers. This will be also good for them. Anyway, take care and thanks again for your support. Take care--Aminz 13:43, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Criticism of Islam article

[edit]

If it is 90% quotes from hadith and Qur'an, then their argument is not valid. We can always quote from their site then. Regarding criticism of Islam article, it may be true but the article is good to be there for one reason: *) We know people often hear these criticisms. Some of them maybe quite illogical to my mind, but we can not stop it. What some people may not hear is the Muslim responses to these criticisms. I think it is good to have the criticisms there but try to work on Muslim answers. This was my job for a long time :). Copyright issue is of course something different. Salam --Aminz 19:52, 1 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A suggestion (Excellent to my mind :D )

[edit]

I think RFC is not a good idea since we are not sure both articles may have some problems. I have a suggestion: All editors involved in this mediation nominate a few editors(not among themselves). They are better to be administrator or at least experienced editors(e.g. Zora) and concede their editing right to their nominated editors. These people will form the editor committee. All the editors have to promise not to edit the articles directly anymore, but just try to convince the editor committee if they want to make any change to the article(The articles can be blocked from editing). The final decisions are however made by the editor committee(maybe voting). I hope that concensus could be achieved easier there. How is my idea? --Aminz 03:32, 2 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Farhansher, I am a Muslim. There maybe some cases in which Muslims have done wrong actions, but I believe that bad Muslims do not condemn Islam as bad Christians do not condemn Christianity and so on. Thank you very much Farhansher for the verse. I can now see the reasons behind this commandmand:

" because he tried to turn you away from the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. 11 Then all Israel will hear and be afraid, and no one among you will do such an evil thing again.

The following verses are:

" 12 If you hear it said about one of the towns the LORD your God is giving you to live in 13 that wicked men have arisen among you and have led the people of their town astray, saying, "Let us go and worship other gods" (gods you have not known), 14 then you must inquire, probe and investigate it thoroughly. And if it is true and it has been proved that this detestable thing has been done among you, 15 you must certainly put to the sword all who live in that town. Destroy it completely, [a] both its people and its livestock. 16 Gather all the plunder of the town into the middle of the public square and completely burn the town and all its plunder as a whole burnt offering to the LORD your God. It is to remain a ruin forever, never to be rebuilt. 17 None of those condemned things [b] shall be found in your hands, so that the LORD will turn from his fierce anger; he will show you mercy, have compassion on you, and increase your numbers, as he promised on oath to your forefathers, 18 because you obey the LORD your God, keeping all his commands that I am giving you today and doing what is right in his eyes."

Need my help

[edit]

Please let me know if/when you need my help --- Faisal 23:23, 30 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Farhansher, I notice you are one of the editors who contributed in creating the image of the Islam template. My opinion is that Islam template should carry the Shahada as the image and not the mosque as it gives the impression we muslims worship the mosque (the fact is we worship in the mosque and not the mosque). I earnestly hope that you agree with me. Please join me on the discussion page.  «Mÿšíc»  (T) 18:41, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi , I have included a new image in the talk page of the Islam template, please make your comments about it to be included in the template, thanks  «Mÿšíc»  (T) 18:50, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, The Islam template is used in all Islam related articles and it carries an image of the mosque, if you take a close look at the other religion templates they all carry an icon that actually symbolizes the particular religion. The question is what symbolizes Islam? As a muslim you would agree that we cannot Idolize any symbol as sacred as it would be Shirk. So the next question is what kind of icon would correctly represent Islam and Muslims? It is undoubtedly the Shahada, because without it we wouldn't be muslims. So I have suggested to change the template image from a masjid to a Masjid with the Shahada in it. In order to have the image in the template I need build some consense, could you kindly visit the talk page (Template_talk:Islam) and make your suggestion, lets have the template change so it will correctly represent Islam. (You do not have to support it if you dont like it). thanks in advance.  «Mÿšíc»  (T) 05:24, 18 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation and Recommendations for writing articles on Hindi Wikipedia

[edit]

Hindi wikipedia invites and welcomes Wikipedians to contribute for the cause of spreading knowledge and the Hindi language. This page contains guidelines for writing a wiki-article on any topic at the Hindi Wikipedia, with special recommendations for writing in Hindi (Note: The script/font-family for Hindi is Devanāgari; the script/font-system for English is Roman script, also, the Hindi spelling system is not completely standardized). This article is yet in English language (mostly), in order to encourage even non-native/foreign people who have learnt/are learning Hindi to contribute to the Hindi wikipedia, and native Hindi speakers who normally write in English. The examples given below are only for explanation.

Recommendations:

  1. Firstly for proper viewing, it is recommended to keep all links NOT-UNDERLINED. Otherwise the मात्रा below the Hindi alphabets might get partly hidden behind the underlines. For this, please go to My Preferences (मेरी पसंद) at the top of the page, then click Misc., and then choose "underline links -> Never". Save your settings. Also, do not click yes for "justify paragraphs", otherwise on some browsers, the devanagari script will appear highly distorted.
  2. All users are requested and encouraged to contribute articles here, especially, to create new articles on general topics. They are also encouraged to expand the existing articles, and improve upon them. A non-user can also do the same; it is recommended but not required to register yourself as a wikipedian user at the Hindi wikipedia. As far as possible, each article should be written with a Neutral Point of View (NPOV)—no nationalistic or partiality or hatred based articles are welcome. The articles should be based on facts—and appropriate references should be provided as and where needed. See the English wiki's help page for editing in general. Almost all the general wiki-features are available for editing on Hindi wiki too. Guidelines for the content matter is mostly the same as given in English wiki.
  3. Since the Hindi wiki is at its initial stages, users are welcome to take introduction and basic points from the English (or another) wikipedia's corresponding article and translate them for small articles. An in-page link to the English wiki's article will be deemed sufficient for references (a template might be created stating this). For longer articles, it is recommended to mention the references separately.
  4. Since most computer users in India and elsewhere have the standard Western-type keyboard, it is best recommended (but not necessarily required) to use the virtual (software) keyboard like the one of Hindimozhi or of ISIS (Tavultesoft Keyman)—which are freewares. These are advantageous because the contemporary Hindi-speakers in India often write messages/chat using Hindi words but written in Roman (English) script, and the layout of these keyboards is quite the same that such people use. For example, using the "normal" keyboard with this software, typing ga would give ग and ghaa would give घा.
  5. Create the article with its name written in Hindi (devanagari script). Always take care to include the nukta (dot below) for foreign / Urdu loanwords wherever it occurs in the standard spelling. For non-Indian names, use that spelling (for article name and other words) which is commonly encountered in Hindi newspapers, G.K.-books, Hindi-dubbed TV documentaries and Hollywood films and magazines. e.g., America-अमरीका (या अमेरिका), China-चीन, French-फ़्रांसिसी. For English acronyms/short-forms, use the initials in Roman script, and again create a full form in Hindi and redirect it to the short form. e.g. IPA (अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय ध्वनि वर्णाक्षर); UNO (संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ). Doing the opposite is also fine. But creating the article with the Hindi short form, as सं०रा०सं०, is not recommended. Also, the article proper must be written with the proper nukta, as फ़ारसी, and then, a non-nukta (mis-)spelt version फारसी should preferably be created to redirect to the correct spelling.
  6. Hindi wikipedia strongly recommends the users to write articles in everyday common Hindi in the खड़ीबोली dialect (Hindustani or Hindi-Urdu, i.e., बोलचाल वाली हिन्दी, which may include many loanwords from Persian and Arabic). The use of शुद्ध संस्कृतनिष्ठ हिन्दी is in general neither required nor recommended. E.g., use: वजह instead of कारण, ख़ास instead of विशेष, वगैरह instead of इत्यादि, लेकिन instead of परन्तु etc. However, for technical and specialized vocabulary, the use of शुद्ध संस्कृतनिष्ठ हिन्दी is recommended and usually mandatory. Thus: upper House of Parliament—संसद का उच्च सदन, but not Urdu—मजिलिस का ऐवान-ए-बाला ; Foreign Minister—विदेशमन्त्री, but not Urdu—वज़ीर-ए-ख़ारिजा ; knowledge/science—ज्ञान/विज्ञान, but not इल्म. Use spoken Hindi's ये and वो instead of यह and वह / वे. Do not use the title of respect जी after names, it is unencyclopedic. Thus: कृष्ण / श्री कृष्ण but not कृष्ण जी. Use the आप form and its corresponding 3rd person verbal conjugation for writing about respectable persons. Thus: श्री वाजपेयी मध्य प्रदेश में जन्मे थे. But not: वाजपेयी मध्य प्रदेश में जन्मा था. But do not use the pronoun "आप" itself in-text in biographies.
  7. English should be used sparingly, only when required; i.e., if the corresponding शुद्ध हिन्दी word is too "difficult and not generally encountered", or if it is a proper name of non-Indian person/place/terminology/title, or if the user is highly unsure of the proper translation. It is recommended (but not required) for English-to-Hindi translation while writing articles, the Shabdkosh online dictionary should be used. For each English word, that alternative should be used which is generally encountered in everyday spoken Hindi, and also fits well into the context. Use of intelligent guesses for newly encountered words is also allowed, and so are translations encountered in Hindi-dubbed TV documentaries, Hollywood films, Hindi-translated books, etc. e.g., दमपिशाच for en:Dementor (used in dubbed HP films).
  8. If used, it is recommended to use the English words within the articles using the English (Roman) alphabets rather than devanagari (or better, the devanagari transliteration should be used in the sentence, followed by the English word in Roman alphabet in parentheses). Such words should be italicized and not put in quotation marks. Preferably, there should be an in-page interwiki link (like :en:) on the word to the English wikipedia. If the word comes as an integral part of a sentence, so as not to break the continuity, the en: prefix should be hidden by writing the word again after the pipe sign (piped link). Thus, recommended: हैरी पॉटर ने Pensieve के अन्दर Little Hangleton गाँव में लॉर्ड वोल्डेमॉर्ट की माँ Merope Gaunt को देखा. Resplendent Quetzal पक्षी के ऊपर एक मेक्सिकन पादरी डा० Pablo de la Llave ने काफ़ी शोध किया था. Whence,
  9. Always start the first 1 or 2 lines of the article giving its definition (from any standard dictionary/other wiki) or suitable introduction. (translated from Eng. Webster's New World Dictionary).
  10. For names of countries, cities, places, languages, people, books, films, technical vocabulary, mythology, etc, start the article like this:
    • 1. The name in bold (अपोलो)
    • 2. starting parenthesis, then English name in Roman script, in-page interwiki-linked to English wiki ff. by semicolon ((अंग्रेज़ी : :en:Apollo;)
    • 3. The native name(s) if applicable in the italicized native script, preferably followed either by its italicized approximate Hindi pronunciation or non-italicized phonological transcription within / /, ff. by closed parenthesis (यूनानी : Aπollων अपोल्लोन))
    • 4. the rest of the definition or introduction (प्राचीन यूनानी धर्म (ग्रीक धर्म) और प्राचीन रोमन धर्म के सर्वोच्च देवता थे ।) For country names, only the standard short form of the name is needed in the first line. If there is a common name for a difficult word in Hindustani, also mention it. If you don't give the interwiki English/another language link (which would be deemed to be the default reference), then you MUST provide an appropriate reference.
  11. Please leave no article without an appropriate category. See the list of created categories here; you can also make a new category (pref. in Hindi). Please leave no article without at least ONE off page (like en:) interwiki link. E.g., the user can check the article name (say Apollo) on the finally redirected English page and append to the Hindi article (en:Appolo)). These interlanguage links will help a bot to update all interwiki links for that article in all wikipedias. The category and the aforementioned link should be typed at the end of the article. If the article is very small, mention it as a stub/substub.
  12. Use of templates is welcome. See the list of templates here. If creating a template, name it pref. in Hindi.
  13. Use पूर्णविराम ( । ) instead of a period (.) for ending statements. The पूर्णविराम, semicolon, colon and dash (but not comma) must come after one space after the word to prevent ambiguity. Use the international form of the Hindu-Arabic numerals (1,2,3 instead of १,२,३), as used by the Constitution and the Government of India (even for Hindi). There is no need to use the हलन्त at the end of Sanskrit words wherever it occurs. Hence, prefer: संसद over संसद्; अथर्वन over अथर्वन्. Use the proper quotation marks “” from the Insert toolbox, not "". Write dates as 2 मई 2006 (ईसवी or ईसापूर्व). Write time as 3:45 pm. Separate common suffix-words like शास्त्र, विज्ञान, ज्ञान with a hyphen. Thus: रसायन-शास्त्र. For most others, leave both the words of the noun-cluster free. Combine them into one word only if it is very common to do so. Thus: सामवेद.
  14. The use of ज़ for the en:voiced alveolar fricative (/z/, as in zoo, rose) is fundamentally wrong. Its nearest counterpart is the en:voiceless alveolar fricative /s/ (as in sea), and not Hindi ज (en:voiced palatal plosive). Hence, it is suggested and recommended that for the sound /z/, whether it comes in English (etc.) spellings (z) for while pronunciation otherwise, should be transcribed as स़ (स with a dot below, available in the Insert toolbox). Hence: Reason रीस़न, not रीज़न ; Roses रोस़ेस़, not रोज़ेज़. But common Hindi words borrowed from Persian/Arabic (so-called Urdu words) are allowed to continue with ज़ spelling. Thus: ज़रा, नज़र, तर्ज़. The en:voiced postalveolar fricative (/ʒ/ as in treasure), inexistent in Hindi, can similarly be transcribed with श़. Thus: treasure ट्रॅश़र. The nukta (dot) available in the Insert toolbox can be combined with various consonants to suggest a more exact phonetic devanagari rendering of foreign sounds. E.g., since phonetically, English Think and this are not equal to थिंक and दिस, a better transcription could be थ़िंक and द़िस. Please take care of the dot below in so-called Urdu words, otherwise the Hindi spelling is deemed incorrect.
  15. For the following English vowels met, mate, mat, transcribe as मॅट (short vowel), मेट (not मेइट), मैट (not मॅट, as popular in Marathi). However in contemporary Hindi and here, it is acceptable to use ए instead of ऍ. Thus: अमेरिका is more popular than अमॅरिका. For cot, coat, caught, transcribe as कॉट, कोट, कॉट (not कौट). Transcribe English /t/ and /d/ as ट and ड.
  16. Use half-न before त, थ, द, ध, न, instead of anuswaar अं. Use half-म before प, फ, ब, भ, म. Use the anuswaar before all the rest of the consonants (not half-ङ, ञ, ण). If the मात्रा is not above the alphabet, use chandra-bindu, but only for nasalization. Thus: अन्दर, not अंदर ; अन्त, not अंत ; हिन्दी, not हिंदी ; सम्भव, not संभव ; पंचमी, not पञ्चमी ; अंडा, not अण्डा ; कंठ, not कण्ठ ; लैंड, not लैण्ड ; आँख, not आंख. However, both forms are acceptable in contemporary Hindi as well as here; the prec. are just recommendations.
  17. When proceded by another vowel, use the pure vowels instead of य (unless the य is clearly articulated while pronouncing). Thus : जाएँ, not जायें (not जावें) ; आएगा, not आयेगा . However, both forms are acceptable in contemporary Hindi as well as here.
  18. Please pay careful attention to the masculine/feminine gender (and singular/plural) in adjectives and verbs, else the sentence becomes ungrammatical.

For more information/suggestions/criticisms, please contact any one of the administrators of Hindi wiki here, preferably en:User:Magicalsaumy.

Please offer your opinion, vote, or whatever about your choice for the image to be used with the Islamic Barnstar Award at the Barnstar proposals page. Islahi tafsir

[edit]

The tafsir is extended over nine volumes of six thousand pages. It was originally written in Urdu, but now it is being translated in English.[15] You can buy for $127.5 from [16]. Cheers!

I would rather be anonymous. But you can contact me through email. Cheers! TruthSpreaderTalk 08:20, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think it is one of the best tafsir written so far. As it extensively uses classical Arabic poetry to take the meaning of words used in Qur'an which really clears ones mind, but at the same time it challenges many traditional concepts as well. TruthSpreaderTalk 08:24, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well! you are right. I think this Tafsir is always undermined, but people like Ghamidi considers themselves to be Islahi's heirs. And I am very much impressed by their work. I recently wrote a few articles keeping in view Ghamidi's book, Mizan. These articles are:

and a few others. It is interesting to see that how these scholar differ from traditional scholars. But I would rather tell you that I recently came to know that I am not a strict Sunni because these scholar vary in a few things. These scholars challenge some of the traditional concepts like, testimony of women, Jesus second coming, hijab and a few others. But I am very comfortable with their literature, because they take everything from Qur'an and Sunnah, so I don't find myself following something which I don't know. TruthSpreaderTalk 08:36, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, as modern Sunnis claim that Sunni is a person that lives within the limits set by four Imams. But my concern is that in Sunni Islam, there is no clergy and even these Imams never declared themselves to be infallible, rather always opened the possibility of improvement or mistakes in their work. And to me, if I don't believe that Jesus is coming again, for example, is this a Sharia related problem or not. Because Qur'an is silent, rather seems to deny it (according to Tadabbur-i-Qur'an), but in case of Sunnah, these scholars stress alot on the ijma of the Ummah, which I think has to be supreme at any cost. TruthSpreaderTalk 03:04, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Salaam! Thanks for the suggestion. I do strongly believe that Coherence in Quran is more important than The Quran and science article, but as I am abroad, and I don't have access to Tadabbur-i-Qur'an, it would be difficult for me to write. Thanks anyway. TruthSpreaderTalk 21:34, 9 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Salaam! I was just reading exegesis of Al-Fatiha by Ghamidi, and I found interesting thing that ‘سَبْعًا مِنْ الْمَثَانِي’ is not "seven oft-repeating verses" rather "seven of those composed of pairs" in verse [Quran 15:87], which I think every Arabic knowing person can appreciate this translation, that how much accurate it is. I think this might be the basic verse on which Islahi found seven groups in Quran and Surahs in pairs.[17] Cheers! TruthSpreaderTalk 06:35, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well the article goes on is a very un-encyclopediac way. May be we should put peer review template or something like that . We have all stuff that quran never says but people claim it does in that article, & these people base their clams on english translations that dont even come with the context of revelation. Unless we have a clearcut guideline as to what makes a critic & what makes a criticism , & that too being backed by a few interested admins, it gonna go on. Thanks . Hello Farhansher, I see you've been trying to add the Islamophobia article to the Islam template but you've been reverted. Myself and other editors have been removing links to Criticism of Islam in the template due to there not being equivalent links in other equivalent templates. This same logic would apply in this case would it not? Also if one adds a link to the Islamophobia article then a link to the criticism article would need to be added concurrently to correspond to it... does that make sense? (Netscott) 11:23, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Farhansher, now that Criticism of Islam appears on the template I've reinstated your addition of Islamophobia to it. Take it easy. (Netscott) 19:01, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Sufism

[edit]

Walaykum salaam. In this case, it actually wouldn't be necessary at all. The main source is sunnah.org, a site which satisfies neither WP:RS nor WP:V and is also in violation of WP:NPOV. Sites like that are polemical in nature, and not appropriate for an objective/encyclopedic website. That they are fabrications is just a separate issue I mentioned on top of that, as they're copy paste quotes of a rather recent history which are often used by young Muslims on internet forum debates. Since they were recent additions by an anonymous IP with a tendency to inject POV , and additions based on an unreliable site pushing a specific sectarian viewpoint, I wouldn't consider it appropriate to even include the given insertions as an external link or anything like that. Credible author

[edit]

Hello. A credible authors' reference is being "overrided" by edit-warring. I recently tried to add to the telescope article but this editor seems to think that his opinion overrides a VERY credible author in Mr. Richard Powers. I've been blocked before for edit-warring recently, so I don't want this to be another incident on my record.

Anyway, the other editor seemed to have asked his friend-type editors to form a consensus, so I will do the same. The Islamic connection here is, Al-Haytham. He is FUNDAMENTAL to the telescope and the FATHER of optics. By definition, the summary can include him since the radio and electro-magnetic telescopes are derogatory to the average person looking at the article; I wanted to add it to the history section since it looked cleaner. The article Apostasy in Shafi tradition has been proposed for deletion. The proposed deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Notice

The article List of da'is has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Impractical, non-referencable, no standard agreement on the definition of the title da'i, no globally recognised qualification for the said status. This article is not researched. It seems to be fan made tribute page of popular muslim online influencers.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:01, 11 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
