Assistance with an Article for Creation
Hello Fulbert!
First of all, my name is Calvin, and I am currently working on my first ever Article for Creation! I come to your talk page to ask for assistance with said AfC, and I found your user page through the history page for the Gravity Kills article. The AfC in question is for Kurt Kerns (Draft:Kurt Kerns) who was one of the founding members of Gravity Kills, so I wanted to reach out to you because you may have seen his name already from editing that page. Additionally, I see that you are an active editor and reviewer of new articles!
The Article for Creation has hit numerous blocks for not passing notability guidelines, and just today the editor that Rejected the draft told me that he was not convinced, and I should try to ask another editor for their opinion. I would love for you to take a look at the page if you have time and let me know what you think! If you look at the draft's talk page, you can see the dialogue I had with the other editor about the AfC meeting the WP:AUTHOR guidelines, and his reasoning for Rejecting. After leaving Gravity Kills, Kerns has gone on to become a notable architect, so I am interested what you think of that perspective.
Any assistance would be much appreciated, and I look forward to receiving your input. Thank you!
Calvin Foss (talk) 20:30, 9 September 2020 (UTC)
- Calvinfoss, Thanks for your outreach. You are raising an issue about what notability is and how it is understood across Wikipedia. In WP:NOTE there are numerous attemtps to clarify this, and I think it may be useful to focus on the specific piece, "Notability is based on the existence of suitable sources, not on the state of sourcing in an article" which suggests that finding articles in reliable news sources especially is needed in the case of living people via WP:LIVE. FUrthermore, you may want to see the specific notability criteria for musicians WP:NMUSIC as that may also help you with this. I think this article may nearly be ready. FULBERT (talk) 10:37, 13 September 2020 (UTC)
- FULBERT, Thank you for your response! I have combed through the WP:NOTE page, in addition to the WP:LIVE page and the WP:NMUSIC page. I believe that the subject of the Article for Creation, Kurt Kerns, did not qualify for an article separate from his participation in Gravity Kills while he was simply a band member, but that was 20 years ago. Currently, he is a notable architect in his own right which I believe falls under WP:AUTHOR. If you would check out the sources and work that I have put into the page, I would love for the article to be Approved because its current status is Rejected. Any assistance would be incredible, thank you! Calvin Foss (talk) 05:13, 18 September 2020 (UTC)
- Calvinfoss, I think this new direction is better, and just made a few suggested moves around the page to help with clarity. I suggest, with your note about WP:AUTHOR this should be sufficient, especially with the inclusion of the awards that have been won and the high-profile projects this individual has been involved with. FULBERT (talk) 18:46, 20 September 2020 (UTC)
- FULBERT, I see the changes you implemented, and I agree it looks better! If this draft is sufficient for notability, are you able to approve it or remove the rejected status so that I can resubmit it? Thanks again for your help! Calvin Foss (talk) 18:55, 20 September 2020 (UTC)
- Calvinfoss, Done. Good luck with it! FULBERT (talk) 19:08, 20 September 2020 (UTC)
