Adoption Questions
Hi. I just had a few questions about some things.
- How do i get a nav bar like yours?
- Whats a subpage?
- I recently put an article on FA review. How do i know when the administrators decide if it will be a FA article or not?
Reply
Sure if you could make me a navbar that would be great. also i wanted to know how to make a subpage. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Supeyman (talk • contribs) 18:05, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

The use of coercion is inappropriate. There is no need to respond as it has already been reported. Your comments regarding the article have been noted and while you do have some valid points, you are not making progressive actions here. --Lemmey talk 01:21, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
- I know your both at fault. Thats obvious from the pityness of the content you're fighting over. I normally wouldn't get involved but the statement 'respond here or I'll report you' really just hit a nerve with me as I've recently had an editor try the same thing on my talk page, except he redited his original statement a week later to give a false image. Take a look at WP:MUSIC for the songs heading. It's what suggests that most individual songs are not notable and then suggests that songs that have charted are probably notable. Obviously, if a song has significant verifiable coverage in reliable sources, that would be another rationale for why an article would be appropriate. Erechtheus (talk) 22:44, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

Burmese places
HI editor of the wiki. Many thanks for your help with my work. I noticed you also helped a bit with the Burkina departments. I kept receiving bot messages from Coren last night with them also and I gave up on the Burma places. Eventually I of course want to cover everywhere in the same way. Perhaps you could also put in a word at User talk:Coren. I hope we can be white listed to prevent it happening again ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 11:04, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
ONe thing though. You are making errors with the maplandia links. You are using a capital letter for the village name in the link which gives a dead link. It needs to be in lower casing. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 11:12, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
- Alrighty then. Will do. Editorofthewikireview my edits here! 17:19, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
Yes I've run into a bit of difficulty with that wiki guy. I don't know how you can create three seperate pages of places with the same name in the same district when there is nothing on a fourth level division ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 12:07, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Great work!! ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 20:49, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
Well I've tried to get something set up where it can generate 10 articles a minute but nothing has been done. If people are to get serious about the depth of coverage on here this is the best way to do it. It can get a bit monotonous adding them, part of the reason I tired of wikipedia earlier today because of the togo articles. But what is being done to burma and togo can be done to virtually any country in the world which doesn't have a full gazetteer. Creating district templates like so is the best possible way to cover territory on here anywhere. A bot would make like damn easier though is starting them. Perhaps we could repropose it using maplandia this time. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 21:28, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
Well I've tried speaking to User:MBisanz who does a lot of work with bot approvals but rhings didn't go any further. If however a couple of us emphasise how important it is and what is missing and how easily they could be programmed to created them it might help things. See if he has anything elese to say -if not I will support anything you propose at Wikipedia:Bot approvals. As for programming it, well I am clueless in compute science -a programmer would need to sort something out which may take some time ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 21:35, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

Hello, EotW.
I wanted to personally thank you for taking part in the project-wide discussions regarding my candidacy for bureaucratship. After bureaucratic discussion, the bureaucrats decided that there was sufficient significant and varied opposition to my candidacy, and thus no consensus to promote. Although personally disappointed, I both understand and respect their decision, especially in light of historical conservatism the project has had when selecting its bureaucrats. If you have any further suggestions or comments as to how you think I could help the project, please let me know. Once again, thank you for your support. -- Avi (talk) 17:30, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
War on Terrorism casualties
Under contractors I mean the private contractors that were killed in Iraq and Pakistan, the total is I think 14. Also don't include the French islamists, the table includes those on the side of the Coalition in the war on terrorism. The French islamist fighters were on the side of the Iraqi insurgency so they are included in the death toll of the targets of the insurgency. The military toll is up to date to edit the civilian part of the table as much as you want but again keep in mind that 14 of them are listed under private contractors. Top Gun

Hi, Editorofthewiki. A few things have been changed in this article, but the most important has yet to be addressed. You have only three sources, and one of them is used 33 times. If you have access to a public library, I suggest you search information about Meader through newspapers. I would try Michigan newspapers first. If you can't find anything, I can send you information since I have access to a university library database. I would have to email it to you in a veritable bombardment of a dozen or so emails, so you have to let me know if that's ok for you. If I find things you could easily find, I will not be really impressed, so you will owe me $1,000.00 and a good article. I need a new gold-plated toilet seat, so this may be a great opportunity for me. Let me know... --Moni3 (talk) 17:10, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

Algeria geostubs
Hi Editor of the Wiki. I jhave just been going through some of the algerian towns and wondering why most of them aren't verified externally or have a coordinates/map. E.g where are the coordinates for Aïn Lechiekh etc? Could you help me fill in the maps by working backwards from Z. I'm nearly through A but some of them I can't seem to find form a google search. I'm certian its just the spelling or transaltion differences as with many of the ALgerian articles. If you plan on creating any more in future I would be more than happy to work with you to create municipal templates of settlements like we have done to burma and togo etc and the coordinates /sources can be added first time. Also I would suggest creating or using a Category:Communes of Algeria if they are communes also. Regards ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 11:02, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
Places like Barbouche bring up nothing on google. Where did you get the info from? The links are dead on most of them such as Bathia also. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 11:45, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
What would you say to reorganizing the cities, towns and villages by province given that there are around 7,000 places in total??. Please communicate with me here so we can discuss how to improve this. Thanks ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 11:54, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
OK no worries but it is awkward when you can't find the coordinates. I seriously think we ought to stick to calling them Communes of Algeria; although communes and municipalities mean the same thing we always stick to what is used in the language equivalent as much as possible. Yes there are 1541 communes de Algeria. First of all you need to red link all of the communes in the page and we should consider starting them but in a way which saves time in having to chase them up later. Its just at present there are over 300 articles which need a lot of work and it is difficult when you can't find anything on them. Good initiative in recognizing they were missing though. I've just added a few more Tunisian painters also as you recognized there weren;t any started ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 19:30, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
If you could find the articles at maplandia (may have slightly different spellings) this would be great if you could take care of what has been started to date by adding the map/coordinates. Once this is done we will be in a position to add the remaining 1200 odd in which we can work together in. Those blessed Cantons of France still need doing too ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 19:34, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
Yes I'll see about adding infboxes to the tunisian places tomorrow. I just added one to Menzel Temime. Good work ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 20:24, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
Well its not wrong, but sometimes the spelling is different. It is the most comprehensive location site on the web. Occasionally it is not fully complete but I guarantee the site is never "wrong". Yeha I'm puzzled to on that one but trust me that site is generally fully complete. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 10:13, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
I know I was puzzled too why the names didn't show up on many of the other sites too. Usually whenever I start a world village it is listed at both maplandia and falling rain. But a number of the names are missing. Statoids is a good site for districts of countries but I remember when I did Kazakhstan and Krgystan the transliteration names were way off and it took me some time to work out which was which, I'm certian this is what has happened with Algeria. I would strongly recommend finding an Algerian government source ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 10:25, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

I ran the bot, but I use a pre-built framework to interact with Wikipedia, which has a safety feature preventing me from creating pages in the article space. I got it to output a single country to my userspace at User:Fritzpoll/template/test. Don't move it, as I'm using it to identify the work the bot can do. Could you just check it to see that it is ok, and formatted properly. I need to check whether I implemented the category tagging in the code, and you can check if the infobox formatting is to your liking. Speedy deletion of Cities, towns and villages in Papua New Guinea
A tag has been placed on Cities, towns and villages in Papua New Guinea requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Mblumber (talk) 01:29, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

European category naming
Hi. I did change Latvia earlier but User:Darwinek reverted the renaming. I am certain the same would be done with Austria and any attempted renaming of the other European countries. Perhaps you could also address it to him as to Austria's government status on cities and towns. I did raise some concerns earlier and I can understand that certain European countries have distinct differences between cities, towns or villages which might differ to much of the rest of the world. Just thought you should be aware. Regards ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 16:53, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
Also "You are not the typical Wikipedian nowadays: spends most of their time reverting vandalism and making 5,000 edits to AIV and AFD, 200% edit summary usage, and very little encyclopedia building in order to grab some admin tools and fluff their way through RFA". My god I swear sometimes its like I have a doppelganger on here. This is exactly!! what I think and serious encyclopedic editors are pretty rare on this site. Bravo Editor of the Wiki! ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 16:57, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
Well exactly. People can think what they want of me. If they consider somebody who has 2,000 edits at AFD /council discussions and 50 edits in the mainspace as what we consider to be an "exemplary editor" or a greater editor thats their problem. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia with enormous potential. Stick to the task at hand I say as much as possible. Lord knows how many potential years of mainspace editing time has been wasted on all the faffing about and arguments that go on, on here. Adminship would only give me a few extra tools I could use, its not really a major thing is it. Believe me there are editors who would oppose me anyway and I don't have anything to proove or be put under the test by editors who I find disagreeable
Yes glad you are doing Burkina. If you can see if the french wikipedia has the list of villages and statistics. I copied most of these. What I have time I will add the villages to the nav. boxes and try to start a few manually as it will be some time before the bot hits burkina . I've added a map to all the exisiting place sin Tunisia anyway and am 2/3 the way through Suda. I made my own map for Sudan to replace the crappy looking grey one. Its not perfect but an improvement I think. - That's 9280 article titles that need checking - Bangladesh is being processed, and I'm off to sleep! Enjoy Fritzpoll (talk) 01:52, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
Districts of Mauritania are missing I've noticed. I think ther eis a way I can use the existing region maps to make some department locators using Image:Mauritania departments.png. Right now though the priority is Afghanistan and dabbing those new directories ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 21:55, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Burkina Faso
Yes, I intend to do what I can! Hopefully I can start by helping to improve the provincial and regional Burkina Faso articles. I saw you added that Balé Province was in Hauts-Bassins Region, I changed that to Boucle du Mouhoun Region - revert that if I got it wrong. I've always been interested in French Africa, so hopefully I can do my bit - I'm supposed to be taking a break from editing at the moment but I'm finding it difficult! I'll definitely get to work on Wikipedia:WikiProject Burkina Faso/Provincial templates sometime as well. Regards, EJF (talk) 10:45, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- I can't believe how you and Blofeld manage to just keep on editing... I would have burned out ages ago with the amount you two have been doing. EJF (talk) 11:01, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks ELF. Editor I've started Category:WikiProject provincial templates by country where I intend creating the bones of the provincial/district templates by country. Please could you list and fix the Algerian ones as I'm not sure what templates exist already. I'm not sure whether they should be by province or district. Basically I'll be looking to red link the templates by country such as I've done to Afghanistan etc. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 14:55, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Great. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 20:59, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
The only thing is departments like Nobere Department are very much eastern Burkina rather than central which could mislead some people ... ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 21:04, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
Its kinda scary but I was going to ask if you could do that yesterday, are our brains connected or something? ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 21:14, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Bot approved: dabbing help needed
Hi there. Fritz bot has been approved at Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/FritzpollBot for filling in a possible 1.8 million articles on settlements across the world. Now dabbing needs to be done for links which aren't sorted as the bot will bypass any blue links. and I need as many people as possible to help me with Wikipedia:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles/Places to prepare for the bot. If you could tackle a page or two everything counts as it will be hard to do it alone. Thankyou ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 12:00, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
DYK nom of Tourism in Tunisia
Hi - there is an issue regarding this DYK nom. I am uncomfortable with this hook about why Americans aren't visiting it regarding WP:NPOV. It seems backed up by a reliable source, but it states it so flatly, as if there is no possibility of any other reason or absence of bias. It will be contested by other sources and can be considered as defamation of Americans, insinuations of Islamophobia, etc. I suggest it should be changed - its ok in the article, but maybe not for main page DYK. Please give your views there, Vishnava talk 20:25, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
