Nickelback
[edit]I saw what you wrote, and then subsequently erased, on the Nickelback talk page here. All that about "not wanting to fight anyone" and whatnot...is that in regards to something in particular? It seemed strange to see someone write that unprovoked, but I hadn't seen any conflicts you'd been in on that article. Just curious. Sergecross73 msg me 04:21, 2 December 2011 (UTC)
List of best-selling music artists
[edit]Nickelback's available certified sales suggest that their overall record sales are based not only albums but singles and videos also. Therefore, we are to use a source that claims Records (albums, singles, videos), and not just Albums. I hope this clarifies things for you. Regards.--Harout72 (talk) 01:05, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
- At the List of best-selling music artists, we rely on certified sales more than what sources claim regardless of how reliable they may be, and Nickelback barely have enough certified sales to suggest they've sold 50 million Albums, Singles, Videos. The article coming from CBC News is reliable. However, if you have another reliable source that uses the term Records instead of Albums feel free to provide it. The term Records refers to everything bands/artists sell, that includes Albums (both digital and physical), Singles (both digital and physical), Videos (both digital and physical). News services often type in albums, but they mean records (overall record sales). Also, can you provide reliable sources for your following claims: Because their album Dark Horse sold 5 million digital singles. Their albums All The Right Reasons sold over 12 million digital singles. Also, they have sold 52 million videos. The last one especially seems impossible, they only have 255,000 units of videos certified from all of the music markets.--Harout72 (talk) 01:53, 3 December 2011 (UTC)
List of best-selling music artists
[edit]Refrain from moving artists up/down on the list and reducing their certified sales as you have done in this edit, that is disruptive editing. If you have concerns about the figures of the certified sales, make sure you discuss them at the Talk:List of best-selling music artists. Let me point out that you made three disruptive edits (1, 2, 3) in less than two hours. If you keep this up, you behavior will be reported to WP:AN/I.--Harout72 (talk) 00:10, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
Stop your disruptive editing, continuing to edit disruptively could result in loss of editing privileges. Either open up a discussion at the Talk:List of best-selling music artists and engage yourself in a proper discussion, or leave the page alone!!!--Harout72 (talk) 00:43, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
re:Disruptive editing
[edit]- For your information RIAA is a reliable source. The figure for Linkin Park's certified sales (29.1 million) is based on albums (19.5 million), singles (9.5 million) and videos (100,000). So the answer is yes, you are editing disruptively. I strongly suggest that you stop to continue to edit disruptively, unless of course you want to end up in WP:AN/I.--Harout72 (talk) 00:56, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
- It probably brings you nowhere because you only see the certifications (Platinum/Gold), and since you're not familiar with the certification-levels each Platinum/Gold certification represents, it gives you no clues. Here are the levels for RIAA certifications.--Harout72 (talk) 01:10, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
Your recent edits
[edit]Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button or located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when they said it. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 01:04, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
Do not attack editors
[edit]Please, stay civil, and do not attack other editors. It is not appropriate to call people "blind" or "ignorant" as you did here. Rather than attacking others, explain yourself better, whether it be in your edit summaries, or on the talk/discussion pages of the article. Sergecross73 msg me 05:01, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

Disruptive editing
[edit]It seems you've been warned before about your disruptive editing practices and incivility to other editors, such as what you just did on my talk page. As has been clearly stated, your edits are WP:OR and informal commentary of the type which we seek not to have in articles here. Likewise, other edits have ignored references already in place and in other cases tried to rework pages against already established guidelines. Please feel free to follow the already established practices and guidelines. If you continue to edit the way you have been and completely ignore the warnings, you can be brought up as a disruptive editor and face various consquences. --Marty Goldberg (talk) 21:14, 14 January 2012 (UTC)
Please do not make unsourced changes, as you did here. (Especially since there's clearly a hidden reminder that advised you not to make the very edit you chose to make.) Sergecross73 msg me 21:15, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
The same goes for right here too. Same edit, same note, different article. Please don't do that. Thanks. Sergecross73 msg me 21:23, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Here and Now (Nickelback album). When removing content, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the content has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. List of best selling music artists
[edit]Refrain from replacing images of the Top certified artists with those that are NOT. Each section has instructions posted at the top, for images the fourth line reads: Sections are to include maximum of seven images of the top certified artists/bands. Be advised that future similar edits will constitute disruptive editing and will be handled as such.--Harout72 (talk) 04:01, 13 February 2012 (UTC)
WP:LEAD at Nickelback
[edit]Hi. I reverted a bunch of your edits at Nickelback. You may want to read over WP:LEAD, which deals with writing introductions for article. In general, you're not supposed to add new ideas that aren't covered elsewhere in the article. So, for instance, when you went on about, for instance, "How You Remind Me" being the number one song of the 2000's, and all these other accomplishments it had, but it doesn't say that in the article, it's not appropriate for it to be in the intro. (Also, you wrote quite a bit about that song, which could be a WP:UNDUE weight problem; they're not a one-hit wonder, and it's not the song's article, so it's probably not right to talk about it in the band's intro so much.
So yeah, in general, the intro, or lead, is only supposed to act as a summary of what is covered in more detail later on in the article. (Which, for example, is what I didn't remove your addition about the change in drummers, which is mentioned later in the article.) Thanks! Sergecross73 msg me 18:02, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

Sources
[edit]Whenever you add content to an article, be absolutely sure that it has a source. Otherwise, you force other people to go do the work for you, which is an extremely lazy and annoying way to go about writing articles. C628 (talk) 02:56, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
- Also, facebook is not an acceptable source on wikipedia. It fails WP:SPS. Sergecross73 msg me 23:01, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
- Second Warning: Don't use facebook as a source, as you did here. Again, not a reliable source. (Furthermore, it's not that great of a quote anyways. It's just a long wordy version of "we don't have a set genre", which is extremely common for musical artists to say about themselves. It wouldn't be that great of a quote even if you did have a reliable source.) Sergecross73 msg me 05:04, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) The subject's Facebook and other questionable sources are allowed to be used as sources on themselves ~ per WP:ABOUTSELF - however it would be best to provide a source that passes as a reliable source to corrobotate what has been said on Facebook. But Facebook, in this case still can be used. -- MST☆R (Chat Me!) 05:16, 4 March 2012 (UTC)
- I still feel like this quote may fail Point #1 of "Aboutself", as it's a rather self-indulgent, pretentious quote about the "diversity" of Nickelback music. But even if you disagree with that too, we both agree that ultimately a reliable source should be there. And it's nice to actually have a discussion for once, as you can see from this user's talk page, that this is not typically the case. Sergecross73 msg me 14:52, 5 March 2012 (UTC)

Your edits at Nickelback
[edit]Hi Drecool1. I see that you're truly trying to improve this article and I think that's great. I'm going to mention a couple of problems, though, with how you're going about it, and how you might (without meaning to) actually be making it less likely that your changes will remain there. One is the whole edit warring thing, which you've probably heard about. When other editors revert something you've done, the next step isn't to revert them right back. (As the policy says, Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.) What you need to be doing is starting a discussion on Talk:Nickelback and trying to gather a consensus for the content you think ought to be added to the article. Reverting other editors right back actually could make them frustrated with you and then they might oppose your additions just out of that frustration.
Another thing I'm going to bring up is this edit you made a few days ago. You seem to have copied that text from another website (possibly this one: http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/nickelback/artist.jhtml). That is not cool. It puts Wikipedia at risk if it is hosting copyrighted material. Let me know if you have questions about that. Thanks, Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 04:19, 4 March 2012 (UTC)

Nickelback and "Side Projects"
[edit]Please see http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Talk:Nickelback#.22Side_Projects.22
This is getting tiresome, reverting and discussing every time you make an edit that doesn't go along with Wikipedia policy. Please, try to learn how things are typically done around here, especially with make such big changes. You'd save both of us a lot of time. Sergecross73 msg me 01:37, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
Misleading edit summaries/Poor reverting choices
[edit]It's is not appropriate to label such edits as "disruptive", like you did here. It's not disruptive at all - as you can see from the link above, I left a detailed edit summary as to why I made the change. Here's even more details on why it needs to be changed:
- We don't need to update the paragraph every time Nickelback updates their tour plans. We're not Nickelbacks fansite or Twitter page or something.
- There's a separate article for documenting their tour, at Here And Now Tour (Nickelback Tour). That information belongs there.
- The info is sloppy. It lists Bush twice, and lazily, one time, is kept as Bush (band) instead of Bush.
- Some of it doesn't logically make sense. One sentence says they've only announced North American tour dates, another sentence lists off European dates.
Short version: Stop reverting that information. There's very clearly many issues with it as is. Sergecross73 msg me 20:10, 22 March 2012 (UTC)
