[edit]On 29 January 2022, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article Johan Hultin, which you updated. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page. PFHLai (talk) 14:07, 29 January 2022 (UTC)
Copying licensed material requires attribution
[edit]Hi. I see in a recent addition to Jöns Månsson you included material copied/translated from the Swedish Wikipedia. That's okay, but you have to give attribution so that our readers are made aware that you copied the prose rather than wrote it yourself. It's also required under the terms of the license. I've added the attribution for this particular instance. Please make sure that you follow this licensing requirement when copying from compatibly-licensed material in the future. — Diannaa (talk) 12:07, 3 August 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks, I've added the template to my other contributions. Draken Bowser (talk) 12:48, 3 August 2022 (UTC)
The article is an FA, but it's come under some criticism. One was the references, and I have made some headway in cleaning that up. Right now I'm going through expanding some sections--the US Census material is not cleanly verified, and I want to improve that. If you can lend a hand, that would be great. Tack sa mycket, Drmies (talk) 21:59, 4 September 2022 (UTC)
- I will try, I have ordered a few books and downloaded some articles. Hopefully they will turn out useful. Draken Bowser (talk) 07:49, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks--I appreciate that. Buidhe, I have been looking for that note you placed, with your critique of the article in its current state. Can you tell me where it is? We're working on it. Drmies (talk) 15:04, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
- You mean the talk page notice I left in December 2021? To elaborate I think the hardest thing to fix about this article may be content coverage. Losing 1/4 of its population is bound to have a large impact on the politics, economy, etc. of any country and it's not covered at all except a few sentences in the parliamentary inquiry section. Although there are some English sources on this, I expect a lot of the research is published in Swedish.
- I also think the parliamentary inquiry section could be reorganized with the reasons for leaving being discussed earlier in the article and the content on the inquiry itself being shortened and folded into discussion of the impact on Sweden.
- Thanks for working on the article, I am glad for any improvement made. (t · c) buidhe 17:17, 5 September 2022 (UTC)

Sommarplågor
[edit]Hi. Do you have idea how to explain or translate "sommarplågor" in according to popular summer hits played in the radio? Eurohunter (talk) 17:29, 10 July 2023 (UTC)
- Let's just go with summer hit. The negative connotation is lost, but I'm not sure there's a good word for it in English. Draken Bowser (talk) 17:48, 10 July 2023 (UTC)

Sveriges Radio
[edit]Hello. Do you have a moment to check if there is anything related to "Ingen kan slå (Boten Anna)" at 3:07-4:09 or rather 6:15-10:05 in Sveriges Radio? Eurohunter (talk) 15:20, 17 July 2023 (UTC)

- I just checked Mediearkivet and it looks like a lot of material to read and check, not for hours but days. It even shows results of available and free articles hidden in Google search. I just noticed that video for "SVT Morgonstudion - 23.06.2023" not load, but it works well in case of "SVT Morgonstudion - 13.07.2023". Is it just too old? Eurohunter (talk) 21:43, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure that you can't usually access radio/TV via mediearkivet. It mostly tracks mentions so that the user (who is usually a journalist and can get access through other arrangements) knows which episodes to recover. In the case of the latter episode it is probably because it is still hosted openly on svtplay.se Draken Bowser (talk) 21:54, 18 July 2023 (UTC)

Songs titles
[edit]Hello. Do you know how to quote titles of songs in Swedish? Do you use English qutation marks "Boten Anna", italcs Boten Anna or I recently found these ”Boten Anna”. Swedish featered lists of discographies use standard English quotation marks, so I already don't know. Eurohunter (talk) 09:05, 22 July 2023 (UTC)

About BRD
[edit]This is kind of off-topic for the other conversation, but I wanted to say that a good reason to downplay BRD as being optional is because it says that it's optional, in its very first sentence. When editors say that you have to WP:FOLLOWBRD, they actually mean something quite different, namely that you have to follow WP:EPTALK (an actual policy) and avoid Wikipedia:Edit warring (another policy).
The "real" BRD is not just the concept that talking's better than edit warring. It's a one-on-one negotiation tactic, in which you make a bold (i.e., significant and undiscussed) edit, and then wait to see if any person is interested enough in it to revert you, and then talk to that one interested person until the two of you can find something that works for both of you, and then the two of you make that adjustment, and then wait to see whether another VIP ("Very Interested Person") will appear. It's an excellent option for an experienced editor who enjoys negotiations, but it doesn't work in many situations. In fact, it isn't applicable or effective in so many that the BRD essay contains a long list of alternatives that may be more suitable. WhatamIdoing (talk) 05:08, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
- I agree with almost everything you said, except for that I think the situation on VD was exactly the kind of situation we're we are best served by adhering to BRD in order to prevent an edit war. Draken Bowser (talk) 13:20, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
- Given who's playing the "Reverter" role, I don't think that BRD is likely to result in improvements to the article. I think that the realistic options are in WP:BRB: either give up on improving the article (what that section of BRD calls "Let it go") or pursue other dispute resolution processes. WhatamIdoing (talk) 17:56, 17 April 2024 (UTC)
Would you be interested?
[edit]- Hello, Draken Bowser,
- I don't know if you remember me, but we both participated in a discussion on the talk page of Black Sea slave trade, and I appreciated your effort in that issue (the problematic user has reappeared there, but I trust and hope they will not be succesful; the matter does seem settled). A similar issue has recently came up. Since you were interested in protecting Black Sea slave trade against attempts of bias, you may also be intrested in the talk page of slavery in al-Andalus; nothing has yet been done, but it likely will be.
- A user who have shown what I believe to be bias have been allerted to the article: [2] The first user have adressed valid concerns which I have adressed, but M.Bitton have shown bias in other articles in this topic issue, and from what is said, I a concerned this article will be subjected to bias editing. You will see my concerns on the article talk page.
- Perhaps you could be persuaded to put the article in your watch list, and adress future bias editing by M.Bitton? I would have done it myself, but I must be honest enough to say that my health is not good enough to engage in such a thing, and I have been blunt enough to explain why in the talk page. But I am still concerned enough to want to at least attempt to do something to protect the article. Of course, there is no need for any action at all at present; but since I know you to be interested in the subject, I would be grateful to know that a non-bias and serious contributor with respect for a non bias view had the article under watch. Thanks. All the best,--Aciram (talk) 12:02, 21 April 2024 (UTC)
- On the topic at hand: I'm at a bit of a disadvantage since I haven't read anything on the topic. The last incident was easy cause it was about protecting users who followed the rules against users who clearly didn't (although I had faint hope at first that it would be able to find common ground, sometimes we forget that not all our esoteric rules make sense to a beginner, which makes it hard to differentiate between bad actors and the clueless but ultimately well intentioned). Hm, I've seen the users name pop ut at ANI a few times, but I can't remember what it was about. I'll put it on my watchlist, but if I'm stuck between users both arguing the source material, I'd have to read up on it before I could be of much use in a potential debate. Draken Bowser (talk) 15:04, 21 April 2024 (UTC)
- On the topic: I understand the difficulty. I am at a disadvantage since I mainly write and are uncertain were to turn to and whom to contact to allert Wikipedia about a user with a potential bias agenda. I am a ashamed to ask others to "do the work for me"; this does not give a good impression, but I must aknowledge my limitations while still having an interest to prevent bias.
- My experience tells me this user may have a bias agenda to delete as much as possible about slavery in Islamic states and/or select information to portray it as benevolent. However, I do not think it is necessecary to be an expert in the subject to prevent this. Some users are aware of the rules, and will not break them unless they believe they can. If confronted with rules and regulations, they will not insist. The only thing necessary in such cases is to be well read on rules and regulations. In this case the information itself is available for anyone who needs to check any specific edit, since the books and the pages cited are digitalized in Google books.
- To defend the source material should be no problem: I did miss that one was not suitable, but it is removed now, and I normally choose source material published by universities. The concern is rather that the user would delete perfectly well referenced information from the (digitalized) books with some excuse such as "Cherry Picking" or "rephrased in a deliberately negative way" in order to make Andalusian slavery sound more benevolent.
- I would be relived if you could put this on your watchlist. The user have said that they will attend to it in the future so there is no imediate urgency, but it is a warning well worth to take seriously. If the user have been on ANI for bias in a similar subject, then it is worth noticing in the context. If you know of any user to contact that may be of help, don't hesitate to tell me. If you feel you can't give the time yourself, perhaps you know of someone who can be allerted to the issue; someone well read on the rules, who may even have experience of this user on ANI? I know of so few to contact. And I do take this issue seriously; bias agendas are a threat to the purpose of Wikipedia, and I feel deeply for that. --Aciram (talk) 00:03, 23 April 2024 (UTC)
- I've put the page on my watchlist. Ta hand om dig! Draken Bowser (talk) 15:50, 23 April 2024 (UTC)

Hello @Draken Bowser,
It's been a bit long since this FAR. I am also afraid of getting archived as there is neither a broad consensus, you may want to take a look at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie/archive2 anytime you're less busy. Will appreciate your comments and further review. Cheers! Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 14:30, 29 June 2024 (UTC)
- Hm, this is quite unfortunate. I was very impressed with the new version, to the point that I couldn't really critique it. I had planned to let the review linger for a bit, possibly wait for a couple of other reviewers to say their piece, and return with fresh eyes.
- Right now I'm heading out for a two week road trip, which means there's little I could do to prevent archiving. I should probably have planned this better! Draken Bowser (talk) 08:11, 30 June 2024 (UTC)
