ECOTM
Hello Doomsday. It seems like we have only 15 members and that we still have a lot to do on the American Rev. article. Maybe, until we get more members (maybe put a notice about COTM on the Ezperanza talk page), we should give a little longer time to the article, like a month and a half. Also, since we selected the draft, I don't think I've seen any collaboration at all. There are users from COTM who are making edits, but nothing is being discussed. editor review me!-TeckWizTalkContribs# of Edits 12:24, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Hank you for the kind message, DoomsDay! I appreciate it. I'm doing okay, as I know (like WizardryDragon said) that she's out of her pain now. She was sick for a while, I am glad she is at rest.
I hope you're doing okay... I know the EA stuff was stressing you out (as it was us all) but I wanted to commend you for standing up for what you believe in. I most definitely admire your strength! :-)

The future
To be perfectly honest, the chances are we won't cross paths again on any issue. I appreciate your desire to work civilly and I agree with everything you said and reciprocate your act of good will. I'm not sure how I'll interact with most people from EA now on. I'm going to try to keep my mouth shut, for both obvious and not so obvious reasons. I'm just ... upset and tired and frustrated now, with two of my friends gone and not answering emails and a third very upset, so I don't know if I'll be here in a month or not. Thank you for the gesture, and I hope you and the people at EA can enjoy Wikipedia and make things more productive for everyone. --ElaragirlTalk|Count 03:36, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

About User 68.82.82.248
Hi! Where and how can you report someone? User 68.82.82.248 got numerous vandalism warnings but he keeps on vandalising pages. He keeps on deleting Madonna's AKA on her article. All the other editors have no problem with it, I have an official source and it's pertinent information. He also deleted other things on Madonna's page. He deleted the word trendsetter and someone -Fritte- had to put it again. Just log on his User:Talk page to see all the warnings he's still getting. He got some [once again] today! - I continue to maintain that Esperanza should have been completely wiped from this Earth, but Mailer's solution is a fair one - Esperanzans (though I cannot call them that much longer) get their programs, and all the really bad aspects have been salted so that anyone who thinks that giving over their right to decide to an elected council is a great idea will never be allowed credence on this Wikipedia again. I thank you for all your support through this, and hope we meet again in more auspicious circumstances. I will bear in mind your offer, and if you ever need me for anything, I'm only a click away. Esperanza
Well, there was a reason I wanted deletion, despite what Carcharoth says. I think Ed just wants to keep the path open for it to come back, which is annoying for all of us who has to guard it. *Sigh* Oh, well, back to regular work... Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 00:38, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- Basically, after the deletion went through, a whole bunch of people started agitating for the restoration of pages. It went back and forth with the comments getting more and more acerbic until Carcharoth lost his temper and suggested a cooling off period on the MfD talkpage. Ed seems to have taken this as law and is insisting on putting it on the main template as it means something more than one person's suggestion. Which doesn't, but if it'll give me a month off from this protracted nonsense, I'll put up with it. Anything else you haven't caught up on? :) Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 00:46, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

RE:Saw your message to Rey
Well, I added a link back in November or December where a very popular Podcast site Dragons Landing talked about the Nexus being the best place to find anything DL related. Here is the link. [1]. In the episode summary, they talk about it a bit, but you have to listen to it, it is at 13:35 roughly. Would that qualify? They have nothing to do with the Nexus, or the development of the site.--Kranar drogin 22:39, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, I added in the points with some info for the Dragonlance Nexus. Should I have created links to all the author contributions at the bottom of the page?--Kranar drogin 23:03, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Re: Question for you
Hey there. Hmm... a tricky one... I guess it "may" be a promotional image, but I am not sure. Note that images of living persons are lately deleted because they can be "replaced" with free images. Try {{promophoto}}. However, again, the image may be deleted in the near future. -- ReyBrujo 04:14, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
Re: Nother Question
Actually, there is no problem with scanning the image yourself, or from using the image from another source other than the Wizards site. However, try not to upload high resolutions ones, instead upload a 400 or 500 pixel one, never over 800 which makes it qualify, in certain contexts, as high resolution. -- ReyBrujo 23:52, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
- You need the image in your hard disk. If it is in internet, you need to download it and then browse to it. If you have it inside a Word document, you need to export it as a common image (not sure how to do that, I do not use Word). -- ReyBrujo 00:41, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
- There is no need for one, but thank you anyways :-) I see you are receiving some too, good to see you are doing things right around ;-) Good luck! -- ReyBrujo 01:34, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Re: Editor review
Yes, I noticed it. However, I am a wikignome who does things only because he like doing so. Right now, I don't feel like doing reviews again, so I am taking a break. Lately, I have been uploading free images at Wikimedia Commons, and I think I will continue doing so for the near future. Maybe in the future I will return doing them, but right now, reviewing feels like a burden and not something pleasant. -- ReyBrujo 19:22, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, I was offline for a while. In reply to "how can I back down" question, I'd answer that you should quietly be backing out of it. Ignore any questions the opposing side asks you, gently point out flaws, and try to withdraw as much as you can. If that is impossible, just let the DRV take its course. Cheers. Yuser31415 20:43, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
- You'll make a good admin, but I'd wait at least a month yet because otherwise everyone is likely to oppose you "Oppose - comments on Esperanza MfD were not helpful" or something ridiculous like that . Yuser31415 20:47, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
Exsperanza
I know how you're feeling right now, and you have my sympathy. The best way to deal with it is to go do something else on Wikipedia, go find a good article to improve or join a WikiProject. Take a step back and don't get so personally affronted by the intense stupidity of some people. Yes, I suspect you would fail an RfA right now, but that's because your comments on the DRV show you don't have a level head in heated situations; whether being on the robotic heartless side when it comes to Esperanza is a hindrance to an RfA, I don't know, and we'll find out next week when I am nominated. Try and stay calm, don't put messages like "If you believe you have a rat's chance in hell at overturning the MFD consensus" on talkpages. Remember, we're vocal, but we're the rearguard of a consensus of a much larger number of editors - there's a hundred of us, and about 6 of them. They're naive, idealistic users (and Geo and why1991 have already got into trouble for other unEA related things) and all we need to do is just keep an eye on them to stop any new weird ideas they get in their tracks (which is, of course, exactly what we're doing). We can't do more than that, so just try to move on: it's not our fault that they can't. :) Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 21:05, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, I should be nominated next week sometime. Glad I can count on one vote! :)
- Regarding you, I would be happy to vote for you, but I just checked your last 1000 contribs and while you have a good solid editing background, you seem a little weak on policy. You might want to contribute to some policy proposals and consensus building discussions. All you have in that direction atm is Esperanza's overhaul, and that's a touchy subject for a lot of people. Just a thought. Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 21:57, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
- Try Category:Wikipedia proposals and WP:CENT. It's not to just "hit all the bases", but checking some of the discussions going on might be beneficial to you in giving you a greater understanding of consensus. Also, many of your deletion nominations don't refer to any policies. You might want to work on that, possibly by voting on a few more *fDs. Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 22:32, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
- Yep, I get that. And your recent noms have all been in MfD, which is less policy driven. Nice comments on your editor review, congrats. Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 22:44, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

In the DRV I was clearly saying that the history of Esp should be restored so everybody can view the complete history of it. I am slightly confused because If I recall back in the ole days of esperanza you were a keen member of Esp especially the coffee lounge (Wikiplomacy anyone?). So why did you change your position come deletion?
Why are you citing template {{[[User:Feureau/UserBox/EsperanzaReturns]]}}<nowiki> for deleation. It is in user space and it is just an opinion. Shouldn't people entitled to their opinion. What about your own template <nowiki>{{User_DGAF}} thats your opinion and ill respect that so respect the opinions of your fellow wikipedians. -- DoomsDay349 03:38, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

OK profanity!
Finally. Tell me about it man; Post-Esperanza and Pre-Esperanza has been shitting me off more than anything really. One of those many Wikipedia squabbles that can only be resolved by waiting a month or using every template and referencing every guideline that exists. I think I've had the same attitude the day I saw an article go up and down tree times, become protected and two users blocked in one day. I realized that Wikipedia is not paper, it comes and goes. To force it to do either by yourself is utterly pointless.
Take it slow mate, and the FUCK ing essay is up for deletion. Cheers, Dfrg.msc 1 . 2 . Editor Review 07:42, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

Re: "No lowercase on talk pages!", eh?
Yes, I noticed he "left". Sometimes, Wikipedians get bored and just leave. When they do so much fuzz, you can trust they will come back. It is a kind of protest, and you will see it around very often. I am personally responsible of four or five people leaving Wikipedia "forever". I am sure the ones who nominated Esperanza for deletion are responsible of having many Wikipedians leave too ;-) -- ReyBrujo 03:50, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

I do agree. A decision regardless of what some think has been reached and we have to move on. I can fully understand your change in heart about esp. At the moment I also have to agree with you on WP:FUCK. I am so stressed out. So much is going on. Good luck. Cheers. Culverin? Talk 09:24, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
Professional reviews are greatly preferred to fan reviews; the problem with the latter is that we don't know wrote them. For instance, I could easily write a review and publish it on an external website, and then cite that review in Wikipedia. It's hard to articulate what I found confusing about the synopsis of the plot, but I just found it difficult to follow. There are a lot of characters with odd names, along with the different Ages and places and goddesses (and so on), and it gets hard to remember who is who. This might just be me, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Trebor 22:27, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
- If you can be certain no professional (or at least published) reviews exist, then no it shouldn't hurt anything; you can't write from sources which do not exist. But although I can't judge the prominence of this book, it seems fairly unlikely that there are no reviews, even if there are none online. Trebor 22:31, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
- WP:RS is our less-than-perfect set of guidelines about what qualifies as "reliable". Trebor 22:41, 30 January 2007 (UTC)
- Um, I'm not sure. You might have trouble with the "comprehensive" part if you don't. I wouldn't worry about it too much though. Trebor 22:52, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

This should so be a policy on Wikipedia. It would solve so many problems and make life so much easier. We could make templates! "Stop. Your recent edits to Article have been reverted, since it appears you are caught up in the wikidrama. Please adhere to our policy of not giving a flying fuck and stop being a tool. Thank you." about Flameviper's block
Hi there, I stumbled upon your question because Elaragirl's page is on my watchlist. This long discussion at WP:AN discusses the events that led to Flameviper's indefinite block. It's too bad, because I did think, prior to recent events, that he had truly reformed from his former vandalistic ways. To his credit, no matter how disruptive he may have been, he seems to have been the person who first created WP:ADOPT, as far as I can tell. --Kyoko 22:52, 13 February 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for passing this! Do you think this article has FA written all over it? Real96 02:07, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Chicago Spire GA Status
Hey DoomsDay! I wanted to thank you for nominating the article to GA status. Just a quick question though. You said it might be a good idea to get a peer review to "flesh out more problems." The article has actually just been peer reviewed, and I was wondering if you had specific problems you noticed? If it was just a general comment, nevermind. I am just always eager to hear if there is something I can improve... Thanks again! Chupper 01:59, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
Hello you failed this article because "every statement needs a source", Every statement is sourced. I use a reference to cover the entire paragraph, instead of using five of the same sources to cover statements in one paragraph, i hope that clears it up M3tal H3ad 04:59, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- Jeff Hanneman also needs another look, an article you placed on GA hold. LuciferMorgan 22:59, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

Hm?
I don't understand why you don't under... oh never mind.
In Wikipedia, blocks of text need to be readable, and be split up into different sections, very frequently. For some reason, the human mind does not feel any desire to read large blocks of text on the computer, especially on white backgrounds such as Wikipedia. Your GA article did not meet the criteria, therefore did not reach GA status. The main problem is the headings, however you may want to check your sentence structure to make your article more readable. Your article is just a little off 'on hold'. Auroranorth 20 February 2007.

You placed this article on GA hold exactly 7 days (the limit), so I'm wondering if you can now take another look at the article and ultimately reach a decision as to either list the article as GA or fail it? All the specific points that you said need to be addressed have now been addressed. Thanks for your time. LuciferMorgan 22:13, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'm sorry but I can't pass it due to conflict of interest. The article is part of Wikiproject Slayer, which I'm one of the main members of. I've placed a message on the Good articles talk page asking for it to be reviewed though, so thanks for your time. LuciferMorgan 23:07, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
Reviewing articles
I was wondering DoomsDay, if you would be able to review a couple articles for the Illinois Wiki project that have been put up for Good article review. University of Illinois Observatory and DeKalb County Courthouse (Illinois) are both up for review, if you don't have the time or desire, you don't have to do it. Just figured I would ask since it seems you do reviews a lot.--Kranar drogin 23:00, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
- I appreciate the assistance man, we have a lot of articles that need to be reviewed, would you mind if I send them your way? They are going to be mainly historical right now, but we are working on revamping Springfield, Illinois.--Kranar drogin 03:14, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
- I have another one here Joseph F. Glidden House that is up for good article review.--Kranar drogin 14:01, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
- This one on the Oregon Commercial Historic District might be up for a "B" rating. Thoughts?--Kranar drogin 14:55, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

Keeping Stubs
I felt it was appropriate to go into a bit more detail about why stubs should be kept, especially when they're in reasonably good condition for the start of an article. First, it doesn't do any harm to leave them. They aren't spreading misinformation, they aren't causing any great burden of resources, they're just waiting for an opportunity. The hope with Wikipedia is that whatever the subject, eventually somebody will be inspired to act. And IMO, having a fair start to the article may encourage people to do a better job than if there was no content whatsoever.
In the case of these Dragonlance modules though, what I would have done was proposed a merge for the whole series, which as a combined group would easily be notable, and would probably be a better start for these pages. I could go with covering all 1st edition DL modules (maybe 2nd too) on one page even, but I just don't see the case for deletion you made being valid. FrozenPurpleCube 00:36, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm fine with a merge/redirect to that page, though I don't think it's ideal, it'll do for now. And while Stubs are a concern, the solution to them is not always deletion. I would actually say deletion is a tool only to be used when some information is worse than none. FrozenPurpleCube 02:02, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
Oh, and BTW, take a look at Dragons of War, obviously not the right link, I thought about fixing it, but I didn't want to edit the page till I knew what the decision was going to be. Not sure if it should be redlinked to Dragons of War (Dragonlance) or what though. FrozenPurpleCube 02:04, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
Well, I don't care much what is done, but I do think linking to Dragons of War is wrong right now. Either a red link like the rest of the modules, or no link at all would be better, though if you choose the latter a comment telling folks why there's no link might be a good idea. If you don't want to do it yourself, then I'll do something. FrozenPurpleCube 03:42, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi, may I ask you some questions?
How does a user become a reviewer of good article candidates? Can any editor list himself as a GA reviewer or are there any requirements? Please reply here on your talk page. Thanks S. Miyano 11:31, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hi again, I've been waiting for your response, sorry if you're busy, but when you have some free time later please make a comment. I still keep your page on watch S. Miyano 13:09, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry for the slow response. There's no requirement, just read the criteria page and you're good to go. The best way to do it is experience. DoomsDay349 20:06, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Adoption offer
Thank you for your adoption offer, I gracefully accept! Right now I'm occupied with some fairly minor translation/proofreading, but if something comes up I'll be sure to ask --CaptainPuma 11:58, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- Aaand the first questions have already come up: How do I add/remove translations from "In progress"? How do I add the permanent link to the article's translation page? --CaptainPuma 12:33, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry for not making myself clear. On the Translation Project pages there's a section called "In progress" for translations in progress. But no matter, I figured it out in the end. Thanks anyway! 08:46, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
Dragonlance modules
I'm not totally sure myself. I'll ask the closing admin. I figured a close of redirect was like a close of merge, but maybe it isn't. If it is, the main list can't handle the info, which is why I created the new page. It talks about it a bit at Wikipedia:Deletion process#Miscellany for deletion page, but doesn't really say. - Peregrine Fisher 02:07, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- It looks like a close of redirect is a version of merge, which is a version of Keep. It looks like when merging is too much trouble, they just redirect, and if someone wants to come along and perform a merge, that's up to them. The closing admin explained it at User talk:Waza#Dragons of XXXXX.
- I would like to know what kind of headache this is causing you, so maybe I can help. I work on D&D in general, and it's kind of a headache for me too. We have maybe 1000-1500 D&D related pages, and I'm trying to improve them all enough so that they can survive AfD. Doesn't give me much time for each, obviously. Also, it's basically impossible to find enough citations for stuff that's 20 years old, and whatever was written about it, it ain't on the internet. - Peregrine Fisher 02:46, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- I guess what I would say is just be bold and merge and redirect stuff as you see fit. You don't have to go through the painful AfD process (where you may find me on the other end), and if you're one of the only DL editors you'll get your way almost all of the time. If you have a good plan, and someone reverts you, wait a week, and revert it back. It's basically how this MMORPG that is wikipedia works. You'll find people are touchy about deletion, but they're usually pretty reasonable about actually improving wikpedia. If you ever need back up for your merging and redirecting, just drop me line.
- In my case, I feel like I have to fight all D&D deletions because if a delete precedent is set, the maybe 25% of D&D articles that could be reffed will end up getting deleted along with the rest. I prefer to keep everything in preperation for that mythical day when the various D&D projects will have enough editors that we can actually clean all this up. Or else someone will nominate 100 creatures at one time, and I'll be forced to do all the merging myself. - Peregrine Fisher 03:05, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
You may want to read the talk page. We're making a page that will consist of only the 16 DL modules. We've found enought refs to establish notability, and when it's done with all 16 of them, it's going to be too large to house other books, especially all other DL books. What you're working on should probably go at List of Dragonlance books or List of dragonlance media. - Peregrine Fisher 22:15, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- I know you mean well, but shortened summaries of the DL modules should go into your giant list of Dragonlance books, with links to Dragonlance modules (DL series) as it was before your last edit. It's simply a matter of space, and because we're making pages for module series. It would be good if you would revert that last edit. Maybe you're thinking that the DL series doesn't deserve its own page, in which case we're going to have a problem, since a few of us have decided this is how we're going to do it. - Peregrine Fisher 22:53, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
- Sounds like we're on the same, other than we're building Dragonlance modules (DL series) before the rest. I already reverted it, so dont' worry about that. - Peregrine Fisher
- No problem. It's been fun working with you too. It's nice to be able to team up on stuff. - Peregrine Fisher 02:36, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
OK! I tidied it up a bit, in accordance with the list you left for me. There wasn't an awful lot to do. I removed the galleries to their own page, which may annoy some people. As an Art Historian I can see a good case for galleries under some circumstances, and use them quite a lot to convey a large amount of visual information in a small area. When the subject is essentially visual. The problem is that I keep taking on major topics of an Art Historical nature and then have to battle with the wiki formula in order to convey a broad picture of a vast area of highly visual knowledge.
As for the prose, if I make the brilliant prose any more brilliant it will outshine the paintings and that would be quite irreverant. Seriously, the basic tool of the Art Historian is the adjective.
Thanks for your help! --Amandajm 13:06, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

Esperanza redux
Basically, Ed is desperate to change the essay. I have no real idea why. When he first started changing it in January, he claimed that the criticisms of Esperanza was unduly weighted. Then he claimed that they were poorly written. Then he claimed that they were violating the closing admin's MfD comments. Now he's saying that it's "biased". He's absolutely hell bent on changing it to something, but the stuff he wants in the essay keeps changing, and whatever changes he wants are against the consensus of the community. Essentially, no-one fucking cares anymore, and Ed won't take the hint. Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 22:25, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks, but I'm not really interested in giving Ed any more airtime than he has had already. His story keeps changing, and whenever I do respond to him he takes that as licence to go on and on for another month. I just wish he'd stop. Oh, and an RfC? Right. I hope he realises this is probably eligible for ArbCom. Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 22:34, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
Esperanza debate
This is a debate between Dev920 and Ed. External comments are welcome, but please comment in a seperate level 2 section.--Ed ¿Cómo estás? 23:15, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
Statement by Xiner saying that my attempt to make the essay unbiased is appropriate. I firmly believe that the essay is biased because it provides comments that primarily support criticisms of Esperanza.--Ed ¿Cómo estás? 23:19, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

Dragonlance timeline article
I saw on Wikiproject Dragonlance that you are in favor of deletion of this article. I'm in favor of keeping the content of this article, but working on it in order to make it better. I've proposed merging it with another article (probably the main Dragonlance article) where the context of this timeline would add value to the other article. It might also need to be trimmed down a bit. Obviously citation is also an issue. I'd like to invite you to discuss this on the Dragonlance timeline talk page.Big Mac 02:10, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
To whom it may concern
Hello, no, you don't strike as a "rampant deletionist". FYI, I once jokingly suggested to User:Elaragirl the opposite philosophies of completionism and annihilationism.
Completionism: everything, and I mean everything in the world (some graffiti on a wall, that cheeseburger wrapper you threw away, that bit of mud on your shoe, etc.) should have a Wikipedia article on it, and preferably a featured one at that.
Annihilationism: the fewer the articles on Wikipedia, the better, and in the annihilationist's ideal world, Wikipedia would have no articles at all.
If you're curious, I don't think I'm strongly inclusionist or deletionist. I tend to like having articles about TV episodes, etc., but I don't think that Wikipedia needs articles on every garage band out there. --Kyoko 18:56, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
- Hi, yes, I'm still here. Things are so-so for me, I'm not as depressed as before, but I have certain health concerns that are affecting my mood too. On-wiki, I just have to stay away from the RfA area, because the arguments there bother me. Yes, your page is on my watchlist. There are some people whose pages I watch for vandalism, and I've begun to watch (at least temporarily) the pages of people I interact with, in case they prefer to reply on their talk page and not mine.
- I want to bring up something that we've both been involved with before, Wikipedia:Esperanza. It saddens me and even bothers me that so much effort is being spent trying to find the right wording for the essay there. To use a metaphor, if Esperanza prior to the MfDs was a sinking ship, then fiddling with the essay now is like trying to repair the ship after it has already sunk. Sorry for ranting, but I'm just frustrated over how divisive Esperanza still is, even months after it became inactive. --Kyoko 17:47, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
