Regarding File:Ryder Cooley on Mountain Lake.jpg of Sept 22 comment

Dear Diannaa: The process of having Ms. Cooley send and authorize the material in question has taken longer than expected. I notice the jpg has been removed. The permissions-common@wikimedia.org is receiving her statement with attachment. Since this is occurring in protraction, I'm not sure of what my next step is. Below is the dialog we had a few weeks ago. Apologies in advance for any newbieness. Quoted:================= Ryder Cooley jpg Hello Diannaa, I'm having the owner/photographer who is the subject of the wiki article reiterate her wishes to have this photo used. I will send it to the address you indicated. I assume that such a letter, with the jpg, giving me explicit permission for use will be sufficient? Pardon me if this seems rudimentary, this is the first article I've authored. Thank you Slachutm (talk) 04:07, 22 September 2015 (UTC) Hi Slachutm. Giving you explicit permission to use it is not sufficient. What they have to do is release the image to Wikipedia under license. As sample permission email can be found at WP:consent. Once the email is on its way, please add the template {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page so the image doesn't get deleted before we have a chance to process the email. Thanks, -- Diannaa (talk) 04:11, 22 September 2015 (UTC) =========End Quoted Slachutm (talk) 20:06, 7 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi Slachutm. Sorry it's all so complicated. The photo will be restored by the deleting administrator once the permission email is received and processed. -- Diannaa (talk) 21:18, 7 October 2015 (UTC)

Page Vandalism

Diana: The page that you involved in a few months ago regarding repeated vandalism https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Premakeerthi_de_Alwis has been vandalized again by the same user with a new username Deepal66A. I have reverted the page back to version that you have finalized. I would appreciate if you could look into this user as I am pretty sure he is the same user with the names wipeouting, and academiava when you get a chance. Ramya20 (talk) 18:31, 8 October 2015 (UTC)

Checkuser won't help in this instance, as the case is too stale. I've put an explanation for the removal of the content on the user's talk page and will re-add the article to my watch-list. -- Diannaa (talk) 18:54, 8 October 2015 (UTC)

A little help please

Hi. I'm hoping you can help me. My userspace drafts are being targeted by an IP editor, who adds an AFC submission tag and gets them moved. This is the third time it's happened in as many days (not quite sure who I annoyed). Could you possibly move these two [1] & [2] drafts back to my userspace and protect them please? - JuneGloom07 Talk 15:47, 9 October 2015 (UTC)

Done. It looks like the use of the template {{userspace draft}}, when it includes a date, changes the template to read that the draft is submitted for review. I have gone through your other subpages and found no others like that. Should be okay now. -- Diannaa (talk) 16:13, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
Thank you so much. Although I'm pretty sure it's an IP editor adding the AFC tag. It happened here a couple of days ago [3]. - JuneGloom07 Talk 16:20, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
If the problem continues, just let me know, glad to help. -- Diannaa (talk) 16:24, 9 October 2015 (UTC)

Why is my user account in red? Kingsamhippy (talk) 02:33, 15 October 2015 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) It’s because you haven’t created a user page: links to non-existent pages are normally displayed in red. Feel free to create a page for yourself, if you like; I would recommend first browsing a few experienced users’ pages for examples, and reading the guideline at WP:UP. You can find design ideas and wikicode to ‘steal’ at WP:UPDC.—Odysseus1479 02:59, 15 October 2015 (UTC)

Images deleted in page

Hello Diannaa, I've added a few images to the page Chang Gung Medical Foundation last month, and placed the OTRS pending in the page context, but the images were deleted somehow. At the same time, I received email from Chang Gung Memorial Hospital administration team that they had sent an email of image authorization to <permissions-en@wikimedia.org> last month and this month, but they said they hadn't received any OTRS ticket number yet. Is there something, or some step, that I am doing wrong, or that the hospital admin is missing? Imccgmh (talk) 02:23, 16 October 2015 (UTC)

There was no OTRS pending template on any of the four images. If and when a permission email is received by the OTRS team, the files can be restored. Matching up the images with the email may take some time, as they are experiencing backlogs. -- Diannaa (talk) 04:33, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
Ah~~ I've misplaced the OTRS tag then. I've put them in the page content itself instead of the images. Thanks for your clarification!! Imccgmh (talk) 09:11, 20 October 2015 (UTC)

re: Film posters

Hi Diannaa. Thanks for the tip. I always use the "Upload file" link under tools on the left-hand side, and go through that process. Is that flawed in someway? Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 06:37, 16 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi Lugnuts. I wouldn't call it "flawed" but it does not include all options for non-free templates. I always use the option "Plain form for local uploads", which gives a large blank box where you can insert the completed template and license of your own choosing. There's no way to preview it to ensure you've got it filled out properly, so make sure you check your work for errors after upload. -- Diannaa (talk) 14:14, 16 October 2015 (UTC)

Yes, I am totally sure. Please refer to the Berne Convention, which states that copyright exists on all published works as soon as they are published. Prose you find online cannot be copied here; it's against the law to do so. This is true even for web pages without an explicit copyright notice. All prose added to Wikipedia must be written in your own words. Hi

I see that you are currently online (I think) and I was wondering if you could help me with something...? (I think you assisted me with a problem a few years back.) There is a relatively new editor I'm having an issue with. I don't want to drag him to ANI if I don't need to. I did some clean-up an updating on an article and he keeps reverting my work. He doesn't seem to understand the types of edits I made. He has now reverted me 3 times in the last half hour or so (and has placed 2 warnings on my talk page!), and I certainly don't want to get into an edit war. (or bite a newcomer). I thought that if perhaps an admin helped clarify things for him, we can avoid any further problems. The user is User:ScrapIronIV and the article is United States Navy ships. If you could look at his talk page and the article history, you should easily see the problem. If you could help out here I would appreciate it. Cheers. - theWOLFchild 15:53, 22 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi there. Moderating content disputes is not something I'm good at, so sorry. -- Diannaa (talk) 16:07, 22 October 2015 (UTC)
Thanks anyway. Could you recommend another admin? And aside from that, could you at least address the 3RR violation? In fact, if you look further back in the page hx, he has been constantly reverting everyone there for months. (wp:own?) - theWOLFchild 16:20, 22 October 2015 (UTC)
Disregard. I have gone another route. Cheers. - theWOLFchild 17:54, 22 October 2015 (UTC)

Re [5] - you are quite right; the page is indeed a mirror of Wikipedia. I missed that - CorenSearchBot had identified it as a copy the moment it was created which meant it must have existed before Wikipedia's version (and not been a mirror), but it turns out it was a mirror of the different page Minyong tribe (d'oh!) and the new page is almost identical to that. I'm not sure now whether it should be left as is, merged, or deleted as WP:A10. I don't think it's a fork and I guess that in time it could diverge into an entirely different page. If you also missed the connection to Minyong, could I leave it to you to decide what (if any) admin action is required? RichardOSmith (talk) 16:12, 22 October 2015 (UTC)

Good catch. I didn't see that either, as it didn't show up on the Google search. We have no way of knowing whether this is a separate tribe or a different name for the same tribe. I am going to delete it as copy vio, as it's an unattributed copy of Minyong tribe. -- Diannaa (talk) 16:17, 22 October 2015 (UTC)
Many thanks for looking into it! RichardOSmith (talk) 16:28, 22 October 2015 (UTC)

Hello, I don't know if you recall issuing a range block about 2 weeks ago for an IP hopping editor who had been disrupting multiple F1 pages over a period of time and from a dozen or more IPs. Unfortunately, the disruption has continued in more or less the same vein and it needs admin assistance again I'm afraid. I regret I can't find the original discussion in ANI archives. I think it was 4 October or shortly thereafter. Today's batch of edits are here. Can you help? Or should we take it to ANI again. Thanks. Regards, Eagleash (talk) 21:22, 22 October 2015 (UTC)

FWIW, here is the mentioned ANI discussion. Tvx1 21:38, 22 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi Eagleash. I've blocked the two ranges for another two weeks and posted at WP:VPT because I'm pretty sure IPs are not supposed to be able to create articles directly in mainspace. -- Diannaa (talk) 22:56, 22 October 2015 (UTC) Adding: Article was not created in mainspace, it was moved there. -- Diannaa (talk) 23:03, 22 October 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for your help. There is a valid article in mainspace which was created in the talk-page & then moved to main by me (:https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Lola_LC91&diff=686970328&oldid=686970231). There is a pre-existing article at Lola LC90. The article creation referred to as mainspace seems to have started here where it looks like he used the LC90 article as some sort of template. I will cheerfully admit to not being tech-savvy enough to work out what happened after that! Regards, Eagleash (talk) 23:19, 22 October 2015 (UTC)
I don't see any article creations in mainspace, it was moved there. -- Diannaa (talk) 23:24, 22 October 2015 (UTC)
Things seem very confused now :P. I don't understand why the above link to the LC91 article is different (or red). But it was started here* and you need to click next edit to see that he (apparently) used the LC90 article as a template, but as I say I have no idea what he did after that. Both the articles referred to seem to be 'valid' if that's the right word and if the edit referred to* has been subsequently correctly edited to restore the page or pages then I expect all is well. It is also possible that my colleague on the F1 project has misinterpreted what he saw. (Don't tell him I said that!) Regards, Eagleash (talk) 23:44, 22 October 2015 (UTC)
That diff shows an article living at the title "Lola LC91". But the content was copied from the LC90 article. -- Diannaa (talk) 23:46, 22 October 2015 (UTC)
Yes, it's a bit of a misunderstanding in the post on the project talk-page. As if we needed more probs. Thanks. Eagleash (talk) 00:12, 23 October 2015 (UTC)

Wiesenthal etc.

Y'know, it's actually thinking of your work that brought me back here this week--I've been reading (and enjoying) Tom Segev's Wiesenthal biography and was thinking about what a good job you did boiling down this mess of conflicting stories into a coherent article. I don't know how much I'll be on, but I hope to at least putter a bit in GA reviews again. Anyway, good to see you're still active! Cheers, Khazar2 (talk) 06:16, 25 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi Khazar2! Thanks for the complement. I'm not as active writing articles as I was before, because we are kinda short of admins (the first thing I thought when I saw you reactivate your page was "admin candidiate"!), so I've been working on admin stuff. Your GA reviews have always been outstanding, so your work there or wherever you choose to help out is very welcome and appreciated. Welcome back. -- Diannaa (talk) 13:27, 25 October 2015 (UTC)

Must Read Immediately!

Good afternoon Diannaa, I am with the Wikipedia Volunteer Response Team. This morning, we received a complaint about you blocking a user who hasn't violated any policies. We investigated her claim, and it turns out that she in fact did bot violate any policies. You need to log onto #wikipedia connect because you are in big trouble. Right now, possible sanctions range from a written warnong to removal of admin provileges. If you fail to follow my instructions within the next 5 minutes, you will loose your provileges and be banned for 3-5 years. Make the smart choice and comply with us. I will see you in the chat, where I will go into further detail about what is going on. Freghttrain (talk) 21:19, 25 October 2015 (UTC)

I think you better stop going around threatening people or you yourself will be blocked right smartly. -- Diannaa (talk) 21:24, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
T/P/S. Young colleague, please try to use less threatening language in your future posts to hugely experienced administrators. We all WP:AGF here, and for your sake I hope Dianaa will, but do not hand out ultimatums or use what could be read as threatening language. This is just a friendly note for your own future good here. Regards Irondome (talk) 21:29, 25 October 2015 (UTC)
Blocked three days for subsequent edits. Next block will be indefinite. --NeilN talk to me 21:50, 25 October 2015 (UTC)

DJ Khaled

Was there some odd name change or something with the page DJ Khaled, looking over the pages that link-there is even a discography that has been around for years, I also found him in a infobox that I did delete the link from, but still, something seems to be going on I found odd. Wgolf (talk) 21:44, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

Somebody has been moving the page around willy nilly to various locations, and Coren Search Bot tagged it as copy vio (from a mirror site - ) and the article got deleted by mistake. I found the content at one title (DJ Khaled (MC) ) and the talk page at a different location (Talk:DJ Khaled (rapper) ) and have restored them both. Thanks for the heads up, -- Diannaa (talk) 22:20, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

Actually, from what I've gathered from Kayjay428, those are supposed to be Wikipedia articles as part of a college project. (I do wish Americans wouldn't say 'school' when it's university or college level...) Kayjay428 says their professor wanted them to create Wikipedia articles. They're the only two I've found so far. TfD Admin Close/Decision Requested

There is a TfD discussion that has been open for more than 7 days (at this point 10). There have been plenty of !votes on both sides and it is going to need an admin to sort them all out and decide the final outcome. For the record, I am involved with this discussion as well. - NeutralhomerTalk08:27, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi Neutralhomer. I am not very good at assessing consensus so I will have to decline. There's a special board where you can post to ask for a closer, Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Requests for closure. There's a bit of a wait though. -- Diannaa (talk) 15:47, 30 October 2015 (UTC)
Been awhile since anyone called me "homes". Did I fall back into the 80s again? :) Anywho, looks like there is some more discussion starting up, so it's best I hold off on going to RfC. - NeutralhomerTalk16:21, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

ICOMOS-UK page deleted

Dear Diannaa,

I created a page for ICOMOS-UK last night which you have deleted on the basis of copyright infringement. I am a elected member of the Executive Committee of the organisation and therefore a Trustee of the ICOMOS-UK Charity. I therefore have authority to use text from our website to create the page and left a note on the talk page of the article to that effect. If there was any query in this regard you could have contacted me prior to deletion of the entire page. The copied material was basis text about the function of our national committee that is freely available in the puplic domain and was only a portion of the entire page. The act of deleting the entire page was therefore wholly disproportionate even if you still, in light of the fact that I am a trustee of the organisation, consider that it should have been amended.

Could you please reinstate the page, and if necessary indicate which sections of it you require me to edit, albeit I do not see why this would be necessary given my position within the organisation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Grantlock1980 (talkcontribs) 13:51, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

Hello Grantlock1980. All of the prose in the article was copied verbatim from the source webpage. In order to protect the rights of copyright holders, we can't take your word for it that you have permission to post the material here. Permission records are done through the OTRS ticket system. There's more information at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If the copyright holder wishes to release the material to Wikipedia under license, please follow the instructions at WP:consent.

A second problem is notability. I am not sure the organisation is notable enough, as Wikipedia defines it, to have an article. We require write-ups in reliable third party sources such as newpapers, magazines, or online publishers to establish notability. New articles about persons or organisations that are not notable are typically speedily deleted.

The third problem is conflict of interest. Writing an article about your own organisation or that of a client is strongly discouraged, as it is difficult to maintain the required neutral point of view. According to our terms of use, paid editors and people editing on behalf of their employer are required to disclose their conflict of interest by posting a notice on their user page or talk page.

So if you wish to add the copyrighted content to a Wikipedia article, the proper licenses and permissions will have to be in place. Or, you could write a new article that does not closely paraphrase the material available online. And you would have to avoid the conflict of interest guideline while doing so. Even then, chances are that the article would be speedily deleted as not notable enough for an article. Sorry the reply could not be more favourable. Regards, --Diannaa (talk) 14:01, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

This IP is obviously MariaJaydHicky block evasion. Can you please block him/her? And by the way, someone who posted on ANI that report for MariaJaydHicky. 115.164.184.159 (talk) 15:20, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

I saw that report on ANI, not sure what more we could be doing. The suggestion that law enforcement officials would or could help is not a practical one. -- Diannaa (talk) 15:22, 30 October 2015 (UTC)
The 86. range that they are always using is not a good candidate for a range block, as it is a very busy range in the urban areas of the UK. You might be interested in reviewing the SPI case if you have not already done so. -- Diannaa (talk) 15:36, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

Question, thanks

Hi, Diannaa! Well, the thanks first: thank you so much for so indefatigably dealing with my revdeletion requests – you seem to be one of very few still prepared to do those (some others, sadly, seem to have left us). It doesn't go unnoticed, and I do appreciate it, thank you! I think you'll know the answer to question straight off, but I've hunted around without finding it: how do I request deletion (as I think I should at File:Uspclogo.png) of an old version of a non-free logo? I hope I find you well, best regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 15:33, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

You came to the right place! I do lots of work with files and know the answer to that one. Template:Orfurrev is what you are looking for. The template must be substituted ({{subst:orfurrev}}) which automatically adds the current date and places the item in the correct daily maintenance category. Thanks for your kind words re: copyvio work. Your efforts in that department are also greatly appreciated. -- Diannaa (talk) 15:40, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

Deletions

Hi, Diannaa,
I see you are deleting all of these needless redirects. I was wondering how you can delete multiple pages at the same time. Are you using an automatic tool? Thanks. Liz Read! Talk! 20:56, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

I used a text editor to format the page names into wikilinks, which was pasted into a sandbox, such as this. Then, I deleted a couple of batches using Twinkle's d-batch function. Wikipedia:Twinkle/doc#Modules for administrators. Be careful, tis a powerful tool. -- Diannaa (talk) By the way I have no intention of deleting all the unneeded redirects, I just did a couple batches. -- Diannaa (talk) 21:07, 30 October 2015 (UTC)
Ah, I would never have stumbled upon that solution. I didn't know about Twinkle's d-batch function, I just use it to post notices, mainly. I'll check out the modules. Thanks for the response! Liz Read! Talk! 23:05, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

Olfactory Art

Hi Diannaa,
You deleted my Draft:Olfactory Art for "Unambiguous copyright infringement of"
https://www.academia.edu/4608919/Historical_Overview_of_Olfactory_Art_in_the_20th_Century
Perhaps it wasn't clear, but that is my paper. I spoke to another admin (+Stabila711) on wikipedia-en-help who explained that since I had it posted on Academia.edu, they have copyright over it. I could take it down from Academia and retry. But could you restore a copy of the draft I submitted yesterday? Because I spent hours reformatting it and I'm not so good at Wiki; this is my first time writing an article on Wikipedia. I'm offering my own research and expertise as a basis for a non-existent but much needed Wikipedia article...
I look forward to hearing from you.

Hello Archmemory. Taking the paper down from Academia.edu would not make any difference at this point. Since the paper has previously been published elsewhere online, we can't take your word for it that you are the copyright holder. We do this for the protection of copyright holders. If you wish to release the material to Wikipedia under license, you need to get an OTRS ticket in place. Please see WP:donating copyrighted materials for how this is done. There's a sample permission email at WP:consent. Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 13:24, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for the links. As recommended in the Granting us permission to copy material already online section of your first link, I put the suggested text of the permission explicitly on the site where my material is posted (at the end of the Abstract section under INFO>more). Could you please restore a copy of that draft you deleted to my sandbox? -- Archmemory (talk) 18:46, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

I can't see a section marked INFO>more. Perhaps it is only available to logged in users? -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 19:41, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
Hmm... Yes, it seems so. Here's a screenshot of it. Should I put it in the PDF itself? That'll be visible to everyone. -- Archmemory (talk) 20:14, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
Putting it in the PDF only works if it's in the copy that is publicly displayed without logging in. I can't download the PDF, as I cannot log in. I am going to the gym now, and will check back here when I return. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 20:18, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
Ok, I added it to the PDF, and now it's visible without being logged in. Could you please restore the deleted draft? Thanks. -- Archmemory (talk) 21:39, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
Hi Archmemory. Thank you for taking the time to do that. Sorry it's all so complicated. I have restored the draft and have taken the liberty of fixing some of the style and mark-up issues. I hope you decide to stick around and help build the encyclopedia. Best, -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 23:11, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
Thank you, Diannaa! Yes, it was a challenge the first time, but now I know better how it's done. It obviously still needs work (I have yet to figure out the images), but at least it's a good solid start. It was a glaring omission on Wikipedia so far in terms of art... Best, @ Archmemory (talk) 23:25, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
Wiki is hard. It is known. There's a set of helpful links at the top of your talk page that you might find useful. Also, consider visiting WP:teahouse for advice from people experienced in assisting new users. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 23:31, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
Yes, I saw that, thanks. But frankly, with this rocky beginning, I'm reluctant to put any more effort into this. Just this morning, despite your note clarifying that "This submission has now been cleaned of the above-noted copyright violation..." a tag was placed on the draft requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This system certainly doesn't make it easy for scholars to offer their research and expertise to quality articles; I seem to be caught in a vicious cycle of bureaucracy and absurdity... Archmemory (talk) 10:12, 6 November 2015 (UTC)
I do apologise for that on behalf of User:FoCuSandLeArN, who added the tag. It was a mistake on their part. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 14:41, 6 November 2015 (UTC)
Thank you, Diana. Yes, someone at WP:teahouse let me know. I must say, though, Wikipedia is one tough neighborhood ;-) Best, @ Archmemory (talk) 14:55, 6 November 2015 (UTC)
Archmemory, I did remove the tag as soon as I saw what had happened, and because of it the draft has not been deleted a second time. I'm sorry for the confusion. Best, FoCuS contribs; talk to me! 14:58, 6 November 2015 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Zebb Dempster

Hello Diannaa, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Zebb Dempster, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The Cambridge News article is (just barely) to pass A7. Probably won't pass the GNG, so take to AfD if required. . You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. GedUK  13:23, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

Removal of sandbox

I recently noticed you deleted my sandbox, which in many cases is weird. A sandbox is what it says on the tin. You make anything and no one can say that's wrong. Deleting my sandbox is not right and you shouldn't do that, as it is my work that you just deleted! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Can up you lol (talkcontribs) 15:52, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

The sandbox was deleted under criterion WP:U5: U5. Blatant misuse of Wikipedia as a web host. In the future please store such material offline, or use a free webhosting service such as Wordpress. If you wish to pursue this further, please go to Wikipedia:Deletion review. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 19:36, 5 November 2015 (UTC)
But how did I use my sandbox for a web host, plus why does anyone need to read my sandbox anyway? It's like "if I delete there sandbox I would make them angry" because I am. Can up you lol (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 19:57, 6 November 2015 (UTC)
Material you posted there was a collection of material unrelated to creating an encyclopedia. Therefore it should not be on this website. It's immaterial whether anyone reads it or not. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 20:02, 6 November 2015 (UTC)
But what will happen if I do "immaterial" content on my sandbox again? Will I get blocked for my sandbox being "immaterial"? Can up you lol (talk) 12:43, 10 November 2015 (UTC)

Tagging it for deletion under U2 was not the right way to go, as user talk pages are not normally deleted. I only ran across it by chance when assessing broken redirects. Better to tag it {{Db-move|page to be moved|reason}}. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 19:33, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for the copyvio fixes, and the block. Another editor with a similarly generic female name - Special:Contributions/Jenna_Malkovich - has now added the text right back in; and I've been asked whether, given a high degree of overlap, this seems like the same person. Hi, Diannaa! I hadn't clicked that in the event you'd done the honours for Joanna rather than JohninDC, so I took this to his page rather than bringing it straight here as perhaps I should have. Anyway, do you, either of you, think it's worth opening an SPI request and asking for check-user here? I have a success rate almost indistinguishable from 0% with such requests, but don't mind trying again if it's needed. Regards (and more thanks for the revdeletions!) Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 19:15, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
Yes please, if you could go ahead with that I would appreciate it. User:Jake Bayu has 8 articles in common with Joanna_Gunadi and two with Jenna_Malkovich. So I wonder. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 19:23, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
OK, I did that as best I could (as you presumably know, as I pinged you – or was there something about pings not working from that page?); on past form, I expect it to be declined. I looked at Jake Bayu: his edits seem to be mostly to with awards, and I didn't immediately see any obviously suspect edits; if you did, please go ahead and add him. I'm more worried about the IPs (I haven't researched them, but I don't like this edit or this one, for example), and I imagine that check-users will decline to help with them. How do those usually get handled? A subpage with a list of suspect IPs? Add them to the CCI on suspicion alone? Ask an admin who understands ranges (you?) to identify the likely ones? I know I don't know! Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 02:12, 9 November 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for getting that started. The ping did not work, probably because the page is auto-signed for you. 139.192.40.108 and 139.192.40.92 are on the same range, but 139.195.169.225 is not. Editing whilst logged out is permitted, not considered socking unless it's done with ill intent, so there's not much point adding them to the SPI I don't think. If a check-user does a sweep, Jake Bayu will be found if it is editing from the same or similar IPs. If you have any particular IPs or accounts that you think should be added to the CCI, that can be done. Hi Diannaa I'm not sure why you deleted the page IKeyMonitor i just created, You found it promotional would you care to explain to me how it is I will certainly improve upon it and make the required changes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Socialmux (talkcontribs) 15:22, 9 November 2015 (UTC)

The page was deleted as G4: recreation of a page that was deleted per a deletion discussion. The prior deletion discussion can be found here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/IKeyMonitor. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 15:29, 9 November 2015 (UTC)

I wonder why do you guys think it's still promotional there are many others article like this. "the large table of features can be merged into the intro stub paragraph" is already done. And it's a good app and I have used it and tried to everything available in reliable sources. Yahoo-tech is a relible source. unsigned comment added by Socialmux (talk

Nothing has changed since the article was deleted as a result of the deletion discussion in July. The source at Yahoo is a press release, not independent coverage. The app is not notable enough for an article at this time. Sorry, -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 20:21, 9 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi Diannaa,

This editor has been trying to refine their article through the irc help channel, agree the article appears promotional but they were seeking to improve the article and I believe with further assistance they would be able to reduce its promotional nature (no guarantee it will meet criteria for inclusion but that's a separate issue). Would you be amenable to unblocking subject to a user-name change to something less promotional and a declaration of COI/Paid editing on their user/talk page. 88.106.226.6

Hello, The IP editor that you blocked for 2 weeks after persistent disruption to F1 articles has returned in the last few days here today, here on Friday 6 November, and here on Saturday. He has been starting articles and templates in talk-pages again and a lot of edits have had to be corrected by others again. There is also a template for deletion notice on one of his creations Template:Chris Amon Racing which he has now deleted three times. He's also interfered with the discussion at the templates for discussion board by deleting the section. Our previous discussion is in your archive here. He was warned on his (today's) talk-page not to delete the template again, but he blanked the page and deleted the t/plate again. Can you help please? Thanks. Regards, Eagleash (talk) 20:25, 10 November 2015 (UTC)

The prior range was 92.21.240.0/20 but I am going to narrow that to 92.21.240.0/21, as someone else is using the range. We can block 88.106.224.0/20 with minimal collateral damage. I will block for 2 weeks. I have also semi-protected Template:Chris Amon Racing for a week so the TFD can run uneventfully. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 20:46, 10 November 2015 (UTC)
Thank you!! I don't know how this going to run out in the long run. Eagleash (talk) 20:55, 10 November 2015 (UTC)
These ranges in the UK are busy, else I might do longer blocks. I left a message at the IP talk page, which hopefully he reads before his IP once again switches. User talk:88.106.226.6. We've had some successes in the past with a combination of protection and range blocks with other persistent vandals/disruptive editors. We shall see. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 21:00, 10 November 2015 (UTC)
It's been suggested that he open account several times (I did so on Saturday) but to no avail. Some of his stuff is pretty good but he also does a lot wrong and won't either engage or take much notice of what's said to him. Eagleash (talk) 21:11, 10 November 2015 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) According to the documentation at c:Template:Cc-by-3.0-BollywoodHungama, “photos copyrighted by other sites” are specifically mentioned as not covered by the BH licence, so I would say yes, you would have to get permission from the owner. Notability of organization help - feliciakw - the people's alliance

Hi Dianaa!! You made some changes to my original article which I really appreciated. I resubmitted it and "LaMona" rejected it because she felt the group was not 'notable'. I am sure that everyone who gets rejected has reasons why they feel their topic is notable, why else would you spend the time creating a page? If my page is going to ultimately be rejected because it is not notable - I need to change course fast. I am asking for your advice on how to proceed.

I am taking a class at NCCU in Durham called "Writing for Social Change". Our first project was to create or add to a Wiki page relevant to the social and political activism in our community. Durham, NC has a population of 250,000. The Research Triangle is anchored by Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill and has a combined population of 1M and is home to Duke and UNC as well as a dozen other colleges. We are a notably sized community.

I originally wanted to create a page on the Crest Street neighborhood. It is of great significance socially and politically as well as of great civil rights importance. In the mid-1970s, the NCDOT, USDOT and FHWA planned to obliterate another historically significant African American neighborhood in Durham with the Durham Freeway 147 extension (Hayti was the first). The community rallied and the government moved the neighborhood out of the way of the freeway at a cost of $10M. They are the only neighborhood moved to date, anywhere in the US, that the GOVERNMENT paid the entire cost. It's a big deal.

It was (is) too big a topic for the time I had available. The research made me aware of how much justice the People's Alliance has won in the last 40 years. They first came together as a group as part of the steering committee that worked with Crest Street. The members worked with the community to help align parties together - the Crest Street Council - the church - legal aid - the city and county - traffic engineers - environmental groups...the list goes on. So I decided to do their page.

Below is my supporting data. I'm All of my sources are valid. I hope you will find the PA notable. I really don't want to flunk my project.

Thank you kindly!!! -felicia

Hi Feliciakw. The thing that establishes notability (as Wikipedia defines it) is in-depth coverage in multiple sources that are independent of the subject of the article. What you need to do is incorporate any of these that meet that criterion as citations in your draft. Then re-submit for publication. Good luck, -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 01:43, 12 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi Kalina3112. File:WAATMEpicAddictionCanadaOFFICIAL.jpg. The file showed that only non-commercial use of the image is permitted, which is not a liberal enough license for the photo to be uploaded here. Sorry, -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 13:33, 12 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi Diannaa, I was referred to you by Dr. K about a problem I've been having with a prolific Spanish editor from the Canary islands who has a particular interest in Spanish history in the United States, especially Florida and Texas, both places to which Canary Islanders emigrated. Sorry for such a long post, I'm desperate.

I have found copyright violations in some of his articles, i.e., text copy-and-pasted from English sources, but mostly from Google translations of copyrighted Spanish text. These have been lightly edited, if at all. I've removed them when I've found them, although it's possible that I've corrected text that was in violation and should have been deleted. I don't remember which articles the vios were in, but I don't doubt there are more undeleted or uncorrected vios out there.

I would like to keep fixing these articles as I search them out come across them. He says he is conscious that his English is not good, and that the copy-and-pasting occurred when he was a new editor, and didn't know better (I think he should have known better). He also says that he has since learned to distinguish between reliable and unreliable web sources. I would disagree with that statement. I have no doubt that he has a sincere desire to help build English Wikipedia, but he seems to work very hastily, frequently adding misinterpreted information from sources in English, and even from Spanish ones. His articles are often replete with gross errors of fact and incorrect dates, and some of the references are laughably bad and should be obviously unacceptable. It's evident that he's spent a lot of time creating and expanding these numerous articles, but his fact-checking is not good.

Of course, this editor's noticed the work I've done, and has even left a couple of messages on my talk page requesting that I fix certain articles he created. I have complied with his requests, although I must admit that my heart sinks and I groan inside when he makes further additions to an article I've just fixed, because it means a new round of trying to figure out exactly what he means in his terrible English, fact-checking, and searching out copyright violations, which will be easier now that I know about Earwig's Copyvio detector. A further problem has been that sometimes when I've corrected his English, I've actually brought the text closer to a copyright vio, because his paraphrasing follows the text too closely, but in bad English. Earwig's detector should help with that.

I can hardly command him to stop creating articles, but I'm at wit's end in how to deal with this guy. Personally, I feel it would be better not to have an article at all, than one filled with misinformation, garbled, often unintelligible English, incorrect dates, and references from unreliable web sources. These are trademarks of the guy's work, not to mention the copyvios, to the point that I can tell when he's inserted text into an article not created by him.

It really bothers me to see these badly written articles, and I feel compelled to fix them, especially now that links to them are often displayed at the top of Google search results. I feel, however, that I am engaged in a Sisyphean endeavor, as he is often inspired to add similar content when he sees that I've fixed an article. It never ends, and is very frustrating.

The last article of his I worked on was Juan Leal, and when he started making his signature edits in bad English, I expressed my frustration on the article's talk page. He did respond, but he's added more stuff since. I am fed up with having to deal with his never-ending edits that require so much work to check and fix. I don't really want to collaborate with him; I don't have the time or the heart for it. I would like to simply remove all his latest edits on that article, because as far as I'm concerned, they mess it up.

How do you suggest I handle this situation? Carlstak (talk) 23:47, 12 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi Carlstak. Sorry you have had to deal with this problem on your own for so long. Matters like this can really suck all the fun out of editing, eh? I have gone ahead and posted a message on the user's talk page. This is intended as a final warning not to add any more copyright material. I also commented that his English is not actually good enough for him to be contributing here. I know it's harsh, but copyright violation is a problem that places a huge burden on the community in terms of the time that needs to be invested to clean it up, so it has to stop. I will monitor the user for copy vio and hope I can call on you for help if I'm stuck as to where he might be obtaining his material. Thank you for reporting this problem. Regards, -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 01:08, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
Thanks so much, Diannaa. You can call on me for help anytime. I hope the articles can be brought up to snuff. Regards, Carlstak (talk) 03:47, 13 November 2015 (UTC)

I long ago that I do not copy from outside sources. Indeed, the examples you indicated about the editions that I recently copied... Are all them of the years 2010-2013 as much. Carlstak deleted a paragraph that I accidentally copied a few years ago. I thought it was important that paragraph, so I got it back. However, this time, I explained to my words. As for the physical characteristics of Juan Leal, this paragraph is not very important, but I pointed quotation marks, indicating it was a summons. The law does allow that one work cited phrases in quotes of other work (ever the Wikipedia´s rules). Furthermore, the sources in Spanish, I believed that a translation could suffice, while sources in English should be explain with your words. Moreover, I was not aware of my failures in English, because I do understand my articles when I read them, as I understand the articles in English of others (although it is true, I improved my knowledge of English in these last years).--Isinbill (talk) 02:27, 13 November 2015 (UTC)

Thank you, your message has been read and understood.-- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 02:31, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
By the way, although sometimes I get information of unreliable sources, In most of the time I don´t this. Generally I differentiate them since the last years. So, now I know I must not get information of Block or Forums (long ago I picked information of these sources) and I lately try to get information of articles signed for expert in the theme of article.--Isinbill (talk) 02:55, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
Frankly, Isinbill your English is very poor from my review of your work and as shown in the paragraph above and if you continue to do major editing here on English Wikipedia you should have someone with good language skills copy edit the work first. Other editors should not have carry the load of cleaning up your work. Kierzek (talk) 03:15, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
Diannaa, I did left a response. --Isinbill (talk) 20:31, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

Your advice on an AfD voting policy issue

Hello Diannaa, I would like to steal some of your time and ask for your advice. Another editor has questioned my interpretation of our policies on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Vadym Troyan. I have decided to stop contributing to that discussion to avoid getting into unproductive arguments, still, I would appreciate if you could give me your opinion as an experienced administrator on whether you think that my interpretation was right or wrong.

Mainly if it is OK to vote that an article that is deemed promotional and biased be deleted, adding that I would change may vote if any editor addresses the issues or commits to fixing them.

Usually I would have fixed the article myself, but in this case I don't have enough knowledge on the topic and I don't feel inspired to do the necessary background work to edit it myself properly. I would appreciate your advice to know how to act in the future or change my vote if I my interpretation in this case was wrong. Regards.--Crystallized C (talk) 09:10, 13 November 2015 (UTC)

I am probably the wrong person to ask, because I seldom participate in AFD. But what it looks like to me is that the discussion started to deteriorate as soon as people started talking about personal motivations rather than the notability concerns that were the original basis for the nomination. The main problem with the article is the lack of citations. I don't think it's fair to expect people such as myself who don't speak Ukrainian to try to locate sources in that language. If you are still interested in improving the article, there might be more sources on the Ukrainian and Russian wikis. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 15:18, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
Thank you for your answer, I agree with you about the personal motivations as a reason for the deterioration of the discussion. As far as notability, I personally think there are enough sources to establish it. The remaining problem with article is in my opinion the promotional and biased language along with verifiability issues. I am no longer interested in improving the article. I don't speak Ukranian either or know much about the BLP and the article talks about sensitive and controversial issues of which I don't have enough background. My question was about my delete vote on the basis of the promotional and biased content recreated by the sockpuppets, as I think the article should not remain in its current state and I do not feel qualified to improve it. I will probably just ask the administrator that closes the AfD for guidance. Regards.--Crystallized C (talk) 16:21, 13 November 2015 (UTC)

Deleted Student Sandbox Page

I am an instructor in a course supported by WikiED, with the goal of teaching university students how to create an article on Wikipedia. These students have never edited Wikipedia before and, off-and-on have struggled with their articles. As a course we are working through a peer-review process to improve articles with the goal of publishing finished articles to the main space by the end of the year. Some students moved articles to the main space early, in an effort to seek feedback from the Wikipedia community.

One student dkim5290 contacted me today that you deleted his article from his sandbox. What is the goal of this? How can a student be expected to learn how to create and edit an article if it is deleted from his personal sandbox? Please advise Skearns4 (talk) 17:01, 13 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi Skearns4. The student published the content as NOTECHS, and another administrator moved it out of mainspace, to Draft:Non-technical skills, where it can currently be found. Sorry for the confusion. There's serious copyright concerns with the material, as most of it is copied from here. We can't host copyright material on this site, not even temporarily, so I have nominated the draft for deletion on that basis. Sorry, -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 18:44, 13 November 2015 (UTC)

If the actor's daughter uploads an old pic of her father in facebook or twitter, then can it be called free picture under Wikipedia rules? I have seen whenever an actor uploads old pics in social media, the other news websites publishes those pictures in their website. --Galaxy Kid (talk) 15:58, 14 November 2015 (UTC)
No. Uploading material to Twitter or Facebook does not place images into the public domain. The original copyright holder still holds all rights. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 16:00, 14 November 2015 (UTC)

Alakzi

You mean like this "polite" discussion? It was specifically because of the discussion with HighInBC that I didn't respond to Alakzi's questions after I blocked him. Alakzi transformed any potentially constructive discussion into a circular, denying, wikilawyering exchange, for which I would not have the patience.

As for Supdiop, the comments about clueless came in response to some of the twisted things Supdiop said after he was blocked. Not only was he a persistently disruptive editor (who also socked more than once), many of his factual statements were inherently contradictory (read lies). God knows he had provoked admins and the community for some time now, and it's easily understandable if some amount of pique is expressed, and clueless is a relatively mild, oft-used adjective for blocks and explanations of blocks. Many admins, including me, tried to help him many times, and yet despite occasional constructive contributions, he continued to whirl out of control.

Finally, as to Alakzi. Even during this block, they accused Floq of being a "vile human being". What is wrong with Alakzi that they feel the need to lash out at administrators for what they perceive as horrible injustices, either done to them or to others? Some sort of misguided avenging angel? I'm not familiar with Alakzi's contributions, but I get the distinct impression that their content-related contributions are not only constructive but that they also help other users. I'd unblock them in a heartbeat if they'd agree to stick with that and leave the rest alone, but I don't think it's possible, unfortunately, at least not now.

My apologies for the heat, but this kind of attitude is remarkably destructive to the community and to the governance of the community. Take care.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:04, 15 November 2015 (UTC)

"The measure of a society is found in how they treat their weakest and most helpless citizens." - Jimmy Carter - Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 02:26, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
At the risk of annoying you further - we obviously don't agree - that is a remarkably inapposite quote. Somehow I don't think Carter had Supdiop in mind when he said it. Supdiop, as a Wikipedian (none of us knows what he's like in real life), is neither weak nor helpless in any sense of either word. Anyway, I'll leave you alone now, which is what I believe you prefer.--Bbb23 (talk) 05:24, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
Regardless of what they've done, I think both these editors deserve to be treated with dignity. Just like everybody on the site, just like everybody in the world. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 06:40, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
Interesting, I see several editors who "lash out" at others who aren't given blocks. I guess it depends on who you are insulting that matters. Liz Read! Talk! 21:27, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

No, they don't. So I suppose whatever decision is reached on the one image could apply to the whole set. #5 is quite blurry though. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 00:52, 16 November 2015 (UTC)

Arbcom redux

Diannaa: You gave a good reason for not running for Arbcom last year, but this year there are a lot of openings and a lot of desire for reform; I and others are hoping to get enough candidates who want it to be less of a law court and to have more situations resolved before they become Arbcom cases that the successful candidates would have less work to do on the committee. There are already some. In that light, and given that I hope to be able to support you and I am sure many others would too, would you consider running this year? Yngvadottir (talk) 01:25, 16 November 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for thinking of me, that's very flattering. I am still not interested in participating in Arbcom because I don't think I'd be very good at it. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 01:37, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
I know I wouldn't be, but I suspect you would, especially as one in a reform Arbcom. I'm going to ping some folks I trust to see what they think: Anna Frodesiak; Dennis Brown; Drmies; Kelapstick; Timtrent; Kudpung. Yngvadottir (talk) 11:32, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
It is precisely thinking that one might not be good at it that makes a valid candidacy. I think you should consider throwing your hat into the ring and risk being able to make a difference to some folk in the future. Fiddle Faddle 11:49, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
We wil get the ArbCom we deserve. With a broader pool of candidates we stand a chance of getting the one we need, too. So, as a candidate myself, I ask you to stand. Fiddle Faddle 12:19, 16 November 2015 (UTC)

((ec)):::This is a coincidence because I was going to poke Diannaa myself. It was a comment of hers, an unwitting compliment, that motivated me to think about running for admin 6 years ago. She'll have to run because if the vile PA at me on my question page at the election continues, accusing me of mysoginy and pederasty, I'll be withdrawing and she'll have to fill the gap. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 11:51, 16 November 2015 (UTC)

@Kudpung: No, do not withdraw. Remain and be elected or not, at the community's will. Ignore the brickbats you are receiving, and let us all decide. Fiddle Faddle 12:19, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
  • I would totally vote for you. (Not you Tim, you I still need to block indefinitely! Let me think of a reason--can't have non-admins in our exclusive club!!!) Drmies (talk) 16:06, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
  • BOOOOM and you're gone. Hey, if I get elected, I'll make it an ArbCom block--those are untouchable, you know, since signed by a committee. Nice to see you run, BTW. Nice to see Ent on that list as well. Drmies (talk) 16:19, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
Dianna, I believe that you have shown that you would be very good in any position as to Wikipedia. Kierzek (talk) 16:09, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
You guys realize this is why we are short of admins, right? - they volunteer for ArbCom and ... vanish ... buried under a pile of endless emails ... -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 16:19, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
Being up there in Canada, I would think you are use to avalanches. Kierzek (talk) 16:25, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
Hey, leave Canada out of this, eh?  ;-)     Diannaa, just refuse to be buried under emails. Put it in your candidate-statement: "I will participate in arbcom proceedings transparently, whenever privacy concerns allow, by assessing on-wiki evidence and testimony entirely on-wiki." Or however you need to phrase it. Don't join arbcom because you want to get buried under a pile of pain and suffering, join arbcom because you want to help end the pain and suffering, by improving the system itself. With nine open slots, and several sitting arbs with good sense, the 2015 arb-election is a good time for it to happen. 75.108.94.227 (talk) 18:09, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for your comment. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 19:10, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
Does that mean you're considering it? :-) Seriously, this year seems to offer an opportunity to reform the place, and it's much needed, which is why I'm being so pushy. Consider the possibility of reducing the committee's workload by making it work smarter (and less like a law court). Yngvadottir (talk) 19:48, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
If all your wiki-friends ran for arbcom...

I'd oppose you if you ran. You're too valuable at copyright stuff and elsewhere to be sucked into the abyss that is AC :P. Then again I say this knowing you'd make a good arb, and you'd clearly have support going by the above. It reminds me of 2008 in a sense, a push for some level-headed people who won't have knee-jerk reactions to whatever happens, and you'd certainly fit that ticket well. Wizardman 04:07, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

Thank you, -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 04:08, 17 November 2015 (UTC)
Funny, Wizardman said something similar to Cas Liber. (Wizardman: you are *still* a turtle.) C'mon Diannaa, we're putting the band back together. If you run, maybe wizardman will run, just so they won't feel left out.
  • arbs&clerks already running == Cas Liber, GorillaWarfare, Kirill Lokshin, Thryduulf, Callanecc
  • admins&fmr already running == Drmies, Kudpung, Rich Farmbrough, Keilana, Kelapstick, Opabinia regalis, Kevin Gorman, Hawkeye7, Gamaliel
  • nonAdmins already running == NE_Ent, Timtrent/FiddleFaddle (n'mind blocked by nefarious Drmies), AKS.9955, Samtar, MarkBernstein, Wildthing61476, Mahensingha
That is a not-half-bad group, right?  :-)     But it seems like something is missing... where is the "Diannaa" in the list... would you REALLY let poor Drmies be the only username beginning with the letter D, to run for arb-ship? Oh the humanity! You've worked on pages about the third reich, arbcom should be a cakewalk by comparison. Look further up your usertalk, to your conversation with User:Bbb23 where you defend pillar four, clear and pure. That is arb-ness, I swear it be so. Look at all WP:LOCALCONSENSUS, not counting turtles o'course. Henceforth, I'll not urge you further, you've been nudged twice, as hard as I can nudge, but I do wish you would think about it, please and pretty please. 75.108.94.227 (talk) 05:22, 17 November 2015 (UTC)
  • Don't listen to the IP, Diannaa. Just a con artist. They tried to get me to run, too, and now they're using my apparent inhumanity to convince you to run. I agree with you ("Poof!"), and I'd hate to lose a valuable Canadian admin. They're so much better than American admins. Hi, Ponyo. Back to the nudgniks.--Bbb23 (talk) 05:34, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

PUF question

Hi Diannaa. I pinged you, but I think I screwed it up. Would you mind taking a look at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files/2015 November 15#File:Healthy Boy Brand Thai SweetSoy Sauce Light-red HB-2A.jpg if you have some time to spare? It seems quite similar to what you did regarding File:Cola Couronne bottle.jpg. For reference, the same uploader has also uploaded similar files which are also being discussed on PUF. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 11:41, 16 November 2015 (UTC)

These particular images (I see 3) don't qualify for fair use, because they are not used in any articles. We don't seem to have an article for this product. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 15:09, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
Thank you for taking a look and commenting Diannaa. For some reason, I thought at least one of the images was being used in an article. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:40, 16 November 2015 (UTC)

Please would you bring your copyvio toolkit to solve the issue at this draft. I have given the contributing editor the opportunity to remove it, bu I think it requires a revdel. Fiddle Faddle 18:07, 17 November 2015 (UTC)

Can you remove the previous version of this image? For some reason the new version isn't showing up on the page. Just a stretched-out old version is all that is coming up. I'm the uploader of the previous version, so feel free to delete. - NeutralhomerTalk01:42, 18 November 2015 (UTC)

Uploads have been acting funky for a couple of days. It took a while for the new image to resolve for me, too. It looks okay now to me. Try refreshing the page in a while, say 5 minutes. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 01:45, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
OK, then that might be the reason. I tried refreshing, I tried Control+F5, I even cleaned the cache out, still coming up weird. But I will give it some time. It's probably my computer, though, it typically hates me most days. :) - NeutralhomerTalk01:49, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
I had one yesterday that only resolved overnight. Hopefully our readers are seeing a proper version :/ -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 01:51, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
The image resolved for me just after sending the above, but I corrected a source and that didn't resolve immediately. I'm not seen a backlog message (ie: updates in X amount of seconds may not show) on the Watchlist, so there might be an issue. - NeutralhomerTalk01:54, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
I checked at the WP:VPT yesterday and today, and no one has reported (so far) an issue with thumbnails not resolving. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 01:57, 18 November 2015 (UTC)

Article Deleted for What Seems to Be Copyright Infringement

Dear Dianna

I see that you had the article 'sarira reliquary of kamunsa' deleted. Perhaps I should have been more careful and thoroughly read all the details concerning copyrights etc, but as I am new to this and am short for time, I just went ahead and created the article without completing its technical aspects, including citation. I apologize for this, but the site you claim I plagarized from (www.koreanhero.net) is run by an organization I belong to and I do have direct permission from the project's executive editor to use its content on Wikipedia. The project is called Korean Spirit and Promotion Project (KSCPP) and in a way creating these articles on Wikipedia is actually an extension of this project.

I am not sure how exactly to go about in terms of copyright, because the 'prose' is almost word for word, but I have been changing some things here and there - trying to shape it more to fit its purpose as an encyclopedic article - so I am even more unsure how to categorize this. I plan on creating more articles in the future, since there is such relatively little information on Korea on Wikipedia, and I would appreciate it if you could let me know how to make this official.

I have read 'Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission', and as I understand it, Wikipedia needs direct confirmation from the copyright holder. I'm not sure how to do this: do I email Wikipedia with the copyright holder's email address?

Thank you for your time, and I would really appreciate it if you can help. :)

Liveorganic1 (talk) 09:58, 21 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi Liveorganic1. Note I also removed material you copied into the article Tripitaka Koreana from the same PDF document. As you may have gathered from your reading of our policies, we can't accept copyright material without the express written release of the material to Wikipedia under a compatible license. The email has to come directly from the copyright holder and be sent directly to the OTRS team. No one here is going to contact the copyright holder on your behalf; you have to do that step yourself. A sample email is available at WP:consent. Another and probably better solution is to re-write the material in your own words, citing your sources. We don't aim to be a collection of quotations from other people's writings, but a user-written encyclopedia. That's the way most of us contribute, rather than copying other people's work. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 14:33, 21 November 2015 (UTC)

Image uploads

Hi, Diannaa, me again! Could I call on your experience with image uploads to review these? The more recent claims of ownership are perhaps plausible, but the obviously implausible ones (with newspaper captions in a language I can't read) cause me to doubt those too. I haven't looked at text contribs yet. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 10:59, 21 November 2015 (UTC)

Here's what I found. Some of the images appear at both websites. The Wayback Machine does not have archives of these pages going back far enough to conclusively prove these were cop vio, but I would have to say they are. The file file:Oli Ahmad & Omar Sharif.jpg is the only one with metadata, and I was unable to locate it online. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 14:23, 21 November 2015 (UTC)
Damn, I didn't mean to set you extra homework, Diannaa – of course I could (and should) have done that research myself. Sorry! Now that you've done all the hard work, can you advise on what should be the next step (sorry, this is new ground for me)? I'm assuming {{db-f9}} isn't appropriate here, as there is a claim of ownership; so should they be tagged as {{npd}} or listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files? Or none of the above? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 18:22, 21 November 2015 (UTC)
I can db-f9 them, no huhu. I will leave the file:Oli Ahmad & Omar Sharif.jpg alone though, as it's pretty likely he actually took that one photo. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 18:25, 21 November 2015 (UTC)

Deletion of Talk:Ragtime (yacht) page

Hi Diannaa, I recently received an email that the talk page on Ragtime (yacht) was deleted by you. The email claimed that the "deletion and move log for the page are provided below for reference." However, I cannot find any log in the email as to why the page was removed, and cannot find it relocated anywhere in Wikipedia. (The Ragtime (Yacht) page itself seems to have been removed as well.) Hello. I noticed you undid my deletion request (later fixed by another user) for Raffaele Frumenti because from the provided source was taken "list material only; not copyrightable". Please let me insist: the "Life and career" paragraph, and then ultimately the whole article, is a word-by-word translation of that page; as you know, translations are derivative works which copyright is held by both the original author and the translator. Hello Diannaa. I added a Parables TV logo to an article under review for possible publication, and emailed a completed permissions letter /template to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. We received a confirmation email confirming receipt. [Ticket#: 2015111210002775] The logo image was subsequently removed. I did add a tag to notify Wiki editors that the logo was pending approval and noted the ticket #. Perhaps I added the tag incorrectly? Can you please advise why the logo was removed (is there something else you require?), or if it is still under review, when can it be added to the article again? Thanks. (https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Draft:Parables_TV)LG Brichetto (talk) 17:11, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi LG Brichetto. You did everyrthing perfectly, it was me who made the mistake. The file has been restored. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 19:50, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

I would appreciate your help, please

If you look at This user talk page you will see that the editor is very frustrated over copyright issues. I'm doing my best to explain matters. I think there has been a clash here with the declining reviewer, and we may be unable to retrieve the situation with the editor. That never prevents me form trying. I know Ive pinged you there, I just wanted to give you a tiny heads up. Fiddle Faddle 22:39, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi, as you already know I have added some information on the sequence of events. I will watchlist the page for a while to see if they reply. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 00:27, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

Hey Dianna, could you help me out with an image issue on the WINC (AM) article? For whatever reason, User:SovalValtos keeps knocking an image of the station's studios down to the point you can barely tell what's going on in the image. The user obviously have an issue with the article. To keep from getting into an edit war with the issue, I am asking for your help. - NeutralhomerTalk22:46, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi Neutralhomer. See WP:image size. The preferred way to get images to display at a larger size is to use the upright parameter. Default size is currently 220px, so to get it to display as 350px, we need |thumb|upright=1.6. Doing it this way does not override a logged-in user's local preferences, which they may have set up for a particular device which cannot handle big images such as a phone or a tablet. I will go ahead and do this now. Check it out and see how it looks on your display. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 00:21, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
Looks good on my end and it works! Makes everyone happy. :) Thanks!  :) - NeutralhomerTalk04:00, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
Thank you for resolving this Dianna. I have absolutely no 'issue' with the site, just with image forcing. In fact I have used WINC as an example on other radio station talk pages as to how a radio station site should be. I would not like the page to revert to GA from FA. With your permission I may come back to you with regards to image forcing I have used on other pages. The area I am not clear about is panoramas. SovalValtos (talk) 07:11, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

Massive copyvio on Comilla

Hi Dianna. Sorry for adding to your already heavy workload on wiki but I just reverted a massive copyvio on Comilla (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views). Not sure if you want to delete it from history but I'm letting you know should any further action be necessary in this case. Take care. Dr. K. 23:07, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

Checking further, I think that the Earwig detector sites copied from Wikipedia. I have restored the text. However, the recent additions were added from sister articles without GFDL attribution. But you are welcome to check in any case. Dr. K. 23:33, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi User:Dr.K. It looks to me like you were right to revert your removal, as both these sites are Wikipedia mirrors. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 00:25, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
Thank you very much Dianna. Dr. K. 00:28, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

User adding hoaxes to numerous places.

Hello,

This user is adding hoaxes/causing disruptions (random additions of Jewishness, totally unrelated things) to several articles. Has had several warnings. - LouisAragon (talk) 17:48, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

LouisAragon. These appear to be good faith edits to me. Please try discussing with the user, and emphasize the importance of citing sources for all edits. Thanks, -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 19:50, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

My username

Hi Diannaa,

Thanks a lot for your note you left regarding my username. I confirm that it's not a shared username.. I go by BlueGum and since it was already taken I added productions next to it. but do not worry I'm the only one who uses this account.

cheers BlueGumProductions (talk) 23:05, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

BlueGumProductions . If you could put a note on your talk page or user page that you do not represent a corporation, that would be perfect. Thanks. -- Diannaa (talk) 23:27, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

Poster uploads

Hi Diannaa. Isn't this edit exactly the same disruption that FF did to get blocked last week? Compare with this edit that you then reverted. It's the same MO of uploading a poster with a slightly different name. Thanks. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 14:24, 26 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi Lugnuts. Thanks for helping monitor this user. The file has to be uploaded separately because one is jpg and one is png. However there's no source information. -- Diannaa (talk) 14:57, 26 November 2015 (UTC)

Deletion of Michael Emile Mahfood page

Good morning, Diannaa. I posted a page about Michael Emile Mahfood yesterday and saw that you deleted it. Michael Mahfood is the founder of Group M7, the oldest continuously-operated web services provider in the United States, created in 1995. I think that merits a page that can be developed providing a biography of Michael Mahfood and the influence Group M7 has had on the World Wide Web. How do I fashion the page so that it will be acceptable to Wikipedia? - Sebastian — Preceding unsigned comment added by Smahfood2015 (talkcontribs) 13:54, 27 November 2015 (UTC)

Lúcio Rodrigues and possible sockpuppetry

Hi Diannaa. I saw that you deleted Talk:Lúcio Rodrigues as the article Lúcio Rodrigues had been deleted. Well, the article has been recreated by another user, LadyBjj. What I found interesting about this user is this past edit [9] in which she identifies herself as "Audrey". I'm pretty sure that in the previous iterations of the Talk:Lúcio Rodrigues, the user Aaurus had also referred to herself as "Audrey".

I think we have have a sockpuppet on our hands. I am correct in thinking that you have the privs to check if this is correct? I didn't think I could take it to SPI because Aaurus' edit history was wiped out, so I have no diffs to present as evidence. --Drm310 (talk) 17:03, 27 November 2015 (UTC)

There's only two edits by Aaurus, on Nov 25, one to re-create the article and one on the talk page. Aaurus is the newer acct. I will warn LadyBjj to use only one acct. The new version of the article does not appear to have any copy vio. -- Diannaa (talk) 17:14, 27 November 2015 (UTC)

Deleted photo - permission has been submitted by photographer

Hi Dianna. I got a notice that you deleted a photograph from my draft article on June 24, 2015. The notice is as follows: 19:57, 24 June 2015 Diannaa (talk | contribs) deleted page File:Dutch UN Consul and Haudenosaunee Leaders renew Two Row Treaty.jpgt.jpg (F11: No evidence of permission for more than 7 days. Amber Lynn

Hi Dianna, I'm sorry was attempting to message you, as i said while I can appreciate a paraphrase under the circumstances of protecting copyright as you stated it seemed that it was overly edited, can we reach a middle ground with this? Amber Lynn Edits Revisions

Regarding: AMBER LYNN - Diannaa- it says that my writing contributions are welcome by Wikipedia, yet when I attempt to contribute to Amber Lynn it is instantly edited to minimum and losing any opportunity at illuminating the subjects good philanthropy work, yet the negative stories of former drug use are left well intact. There are many very positive comments in that NYDaily News article that could be added to this subjects page, is there a way to work together on this? (----) Mighty'sMom2 P.S. I got locked out of my Mighty's Mom acct

I'm not following you. All four charities mentioned in the NY Daily News are present in the article, and there's been no further edits since we last spoke. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 15:07, 29 November 2015 (UTC)

Cambridge Corporate University

Good afternoon dear Diannaa,

Referring to the deleted page of Cambridge Corporate University, please explain the reason. The page was 3 times reviewed and the reason why it was 3 times declined is that there was no such a thing as Notability. Non of three of administrators warned that something was copied from a website.

Secondly, if you look at my profile page, you will see that I declared, I've got a permission and can use the copyright of Cambridge Corporate University.

Sincerely, Artur Frolov.

The page I deleted was at Draft:Cambridge Corporate University. The draft was declined four times altogether. The copyright violation was noticed by Josve05a on November 27, who flagged it as a copyright violation. That's the point at which I deleted it. Because of the lack of third-party coverage and lack of evidence that the school is accredited, it's immaterial whether you have permission to post the material here or not, because the institution does not meet our notability requirements at this time. Sorry, -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 14:59, 29 November 2015 (UTC)

Hermann Prieß

I was wondering if you had access to more information on Prieß and his involvement at Malmedy (and potentially other war crimes)? Cheers MisterBee1966 (talk) 19:14, 29 November 2015 (UTC)

No, I don't. I used the book Parker, Danny S. (2012). Fatal Crossroads: The Untold Story of the Malmédy Massacre at the Battle of the Bulge. Cambridge, MA: Da Capo. ISBN 978-0-306-81193-7 when researching Malmedy for the Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler article, but I had to bring it in on inter-library loan, so I don't have ready access. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 19:20, 29 November 2015 (UTC)

Repeated Vandalism at Aerotoxic Syndrome

Vandalism by IP editors continues. This last time by inserting links which had no relationship to the statements they were supposed to support. Would it be possible to install permanent protection from all IP editors? EditorASC (talk) 09:23, 30 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi EditorASC. The level of disruption doesn't warrant protection at this time. I will watch-list the page. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 14:08, 30 November 2015 (UTC)

Quick! :) Thanks again! :) - NeutralhomerTalk20:16, 30 November 2015 (UTC)

I noticed your edit at Kohler Company‎ and followed up on it when it was reverted. The original editor claims the plagiarized text comes from a "public document" (whatever that is) and so is not copyrighted. It looks to me like the document was created by the Kohler Company, not a governmental entity. Even if it were created by a governmental entity, in the U.S. the only copyright-free creations are those of the federal government and state and local laws and edicts, which this clearly is not. As the original editor reverted a second time, I thought about reporting this to WP:CP, but thought you might like to weigh in first. 32.218.33.89 (talk) 20:16, 30 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi there. The user has now paraphrased the material. I have posted a warning on his talk page. Thank you for reporting -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 20:35, 30 November 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for your response. TIL: If an editor violates WP:AGF and WP:CIVIL loudly enough, it's OK, especially if the person smeared is an IP. 32.218.33.89 (talk) 20:43, 30 November 2015 (UTC)
