User talk:CrystalStacy
Welcome!
[edit]Hello, CrystalStacy, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.
To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.
One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)
In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

before the question. Again, welcome! 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 06:39, 9 July 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Hello CrystalStacy. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Lu Heng, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.
Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:CrystalStacy. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=CrystalStacy|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message.
Thank you for noting elsewhere that you or your employer hired an organisation to write an article on Lu Heng here. You have indicated that you wish to write this yourself. This question must be answered before any other edit, message, etc, is submitted to Wikipedia. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 06:42, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hello Timtrent, thank you for reaching out and for your concern. I want to clarify that I am not being paid or compensated in any way for my edits on Wikipedia. I do not work for the company, nor do I have any financial stake or affiliation with the subject of the article, Lu Heng.
- My interest in creating and editing the page is purely personal, driven by a desire to contribute to Wikipedia and to share information about notable individuals. I understand the importance of maintaining a neutral point of view and adhering to Wikipedia's guidelines.
- Additionally, I want to learn and become more familiar with Wikipedia's processes. My lack of experience initially led me to hire a firm to create the page, but now I want to embark on this journey from scratch with the right guidance from experienced editors like yourself.
- Please let me know if there is any further information you need from me or clarifications. CrystalStacy (talk) 09:19, 9 July 2024 (UTC)

- Is it possible to send the revised page to see if it is in-line with the standards before submission? CrystalStacy (talk) 07:31, 23 September 2024 (UTC)
- "a non-profit organization that strives to help the entire Internet community achieve an empowered digital future; "Heng is currently focused to promote internet governance education worldwide" then the whole lawsuit section seems biased Questions? four Olifanofmrtennant (she/her) 14:32, 23 September 2024 (UTC)
- How can i make it not sound biased based on the facts presented in the refrences - he is pushing for an empowered digital future and the law suits have him mentioned severally here https://afrinic.net/court-cases
- I have tried re-writing the legal dispute section, have a look below. Kindly have alook before i add it to the page and advice.
- "Lu Heng has been involved in legal disputes concerning the allocation and management of IP addresses. Specifically, Heng’s company, LARUS Limited, partnered with Cloud Innovation, a Seychelles-based entity, in a dispute with the African Network Information Centre (AFRINIC). In June 2020, AFRINIC accused Cloud Innovation of violating its Registration Service Agreement by allocating IP address resources outside the African region. The case has raised broader concerns about internet governance and the distribution of IP address resources, particularly in Africa.
- Heng has publicly denied the allegations related to the dispute. The legal proceedings have been widely reported due to the potential impact on internet infrastructure in Africa and the Indian Ocean region."
- Will appreciate your help. CrystalStacy (talk) 12:44, 24 September 2024 (UTC)

AfC notification: Draft:Lu Heng has a new comment
[edit]- @Theroadislong I have seen it. Can you check for me these two sources if they meet the requirements, i am doing further research on the subject and would appreciate your help.
- CrystalStacy (talk) 06:18, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
- The second one looks Ok, the first one contains rather a lot written by the subject so is not independent. Theroadislong (talk) 06:45, 11 October 2024 (UTC)

Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, CrystalStacy. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template)—don't forget to give details of reliable sources supporting your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 11:14, 1 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Timtrent I have no relation with the subject and not advertising or promoting/publicizing the subject. I am new to this as previously mentioned so all the help and guidance i can get i will be appreciate. Especially with the references and articles i put up, are they in order as per the guidelines? CrystalStacy (talk) 06:22, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for your clear declaration. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 09:26, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
