Findians
Unfortunately, there is only one English language source I was able to find, almost everything is in Finnish, however they are provided by YLE, which is Finnish government funded, which is a very reliable source, also there is a very old Finnish wikipedia article about it. --ValtteriLahti12 (talk) 16:41, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
- As I said on the articles, if it's notable for en-wiki, there will also be WP:RS sources in English. If there is insufficient notability in English, it's doubtful that it meets inclusion criteria. None of the sources you've added are in English. - CorbieVreccan ☊ ☼ 20:23, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
Is there a real rule about the language of the sources and where can it be seen, the sources are maibly from YLE which is a Finnish government funded source, it is for sure good enough, also why would there have to be always an English source, for example many villages most likely only have sources in their native tongue, and no mention in English, or even some small minority languages could mainly have sources in the majority language of that area. ValtteriLahti12 (talk) 05:28, 14 September 2021 (UTC)
- Per WP:NOENG, non-English sources fail Verifiability on Wikipedia. Therefore they can only be used to bolster WP:V and WP:RS sources. They can't be the sole sources in an article. Right now Findians is failing basic sourcing criteria for en-wiki. - CorbieVreccan ☊ ☼ 18:28, 14 September 2021 (UTC)
Citations to non-English reliable sources are allowed on the English Wikipedia. However, because this project is in English, English-language sources are preferred over non-English ones when available and of equal quality and relevance. As with sources in English, if a dispute arises involving a citation to a non-English source, editors may request a quotation of relevant portions of the original source be provided, either in text, in a footnote, or on the article talk page.[11
I don't see where this says that an article can't be based off non English sources? if it would then we should start deleting many village pages or minority language/dialect pages, like the Rauma dialect page, in fact, most dialects of Finnish can never have any articles then, as sources that exists are almost all in Finnish. Couldn't those sources just be translated by someone for verification? https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Translators_available#Finnish-to-English However there is that one English source, which is reliable, because its government funded. With every article having to have multiple English sources, dying languages and dialects would often be left out of wikipedia. --ValtteriLahti12 (talk) 17:30, 15 September 2021 (UTC)
- I haven't deleted the article. I said it needs more sourcing in English. May I suggest that, instead of continuing to edit my talk page to go round in circles, you find some RS sources in English? Thanks. - CorbieVreccan ☊ ☼ 17:59, 15 September 2021 (UTC)
- Also, this is about communities, notably, Indigenous communities, on the North American continent. Why aren't there sources from that landbase and those communities? This started because you tried to insert this content in the Ojibwe article. The original draft said a substantial number of them speak Anishinaabemowin; I'd be happy to see sources from that language community, and confirmation from the Ojibwe people about the claims made about them in the article. It's not just the language, it's that the perspective is coming from another culture and countries entirely. All the sources are from another country than where these people live, in a language they don't speak. The Finnish government is not an authority on Indigenous peoples. - CorbieVreccan ☊ ☼ 18:13, 15 September 2021 (UTC)
The sources are mainly in Finnish because these people are partly descendant from Finns, and here there is much intrest in people who have genetic links to Finns, because the Uralic people are quite small, and it appears from Finnish sources that Finns themselves went into the areas they lived in (such as Yle having a documentary of them), to document information. https://areena.yle.fi/1-4616330 here is video information of the Finnish-Native mixed peoples, they mostly speak English in the video, as you desired information from the community itself, the video has them speaking. --ValtteriLahti12 (talk) 16:58, 21 September 2021 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – October 2021
News and updates for administrators from the past month (September 2021).
- Following an RfC, extended confirmed protection may be used preemptively on certain high-risk templates.
- Following a discussion at the Village Pump, there is consensus to treat discord logs the same as IRC logs. This means that discord logs will be oversighted if posted onwiki.
- DiscussionTools has superseded Enterprisey's reply-link script. Editors may switch using the "Discussion tools" checkbox under Preferences → Beta features.
- A motion has standardised the 500/30 (extended confirmed) restrictions placed by the Arbitration Committee. The standardised restriction is now listed in the Arbitration Committee's procedures.
- Following the closure of the Iranian politics case, standard discretionary sanctions are authorized for all edits about, and all pages related to, post-1978 Iranian politics, broadly construed.
- The Arbitration Committee encourages uninvolved administrators to use the discretionary sanctions procedure in topic areas where it is authorised to facilitate consensus in RfCs. This includes, but is not limited to, enforcing sectioned comments, word/diff limits and moratoriums on a particular topic from being brought in an RfC for up to a year.
- Editors have approved expanding the trial of Growth Features from 2% of new accounts to 25%, and the share of newcomers getting mentorship from 2% to 5%. Experienced editors are invited to add themselves to the mentor list.
- The community consultation phase of the 2021 CheckUser and Oversight appointments process is open for editors to provide comments and ask questions to candidates.

Recent Protection Template and Reversion on Yoruba people Article
Thanks for your intervention of the Yoruba people article and the subsequent protection. Please note that the newest section reversion under Name [1] made by you is not a part of the ongoing article conflict and I actually created and removed it from the section under conflict to avoid conflation and entanglement of issues, which seems to be exactly what has happened with your deletion of it. Thanks. Oramfe (talk) 22:32, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
- OK, as I'm hearing different feedback from different editors on the article, please take this discussion to article talk so everyone can weigh in on article content and reach consensus. Thanks. - CorbieVreccan ☊ ☼ 22:37, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
Hi CorbieVreccan, I just want to corroborate that the Name section is not part of the dispute. The only section is Etymology and some parts of Infobox ethnic group, for which there are existing sections on the talk page. I am not in a dispute over the name section. Thank you for helping. :) -Oluwatalisman (talk) 22:57, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
- It's often hard to tell exactly what all is going on when we drop in on a protection request. I've done a bit of editing on the article, but mostly minor and not recently. If there's consensus about which version the article should be on and you need an admin to do it, post it on article talk and either I, or another admin, can help with that. - CorbieVreccan ☊ ☼ 23:06, 15 October 2021 (UTC)

Braves (Native Americans)
Hi. I've just been maybe a little too bold, and turned the Braves (Native Americans) article into a redirect. It didn't seem to me that anything about that article could be saved due to the inherently racist concept in the name. (I suppose it could be rewritten in the same way that squ*w has been, but is it needed?) However, now I'm wondering if there is an article that some of the materials regarding 19th century warfare, etc, inserted in good faith by editors, might be inserted back into. Or maybe there is an article that would be a better target for the redirect? Would you please, if you have a moment, take a look at the previous version of the article and let me know what you think? Vizjim (talk) 16:01, 1 November 2021 (UTC)
- I think a redirect is fine. It can either be covered at the current redirect, or at Stereotypes of indigenous peoples of Canada and the United States. - CorbieVreccan ☊ ☼ 18:14, 1 November 2021 (UTC)

- Following consensus at the 2021 RfA review, the autopatrolled user right has been removed from the administrators user group; admins can grant themselves the autopatrolled permission if they wish to remain autopatrolled.
- Additionally, consensus for proposal 6C of the 2021 RfA review has led to the creation of an administrative action review process. The purpose of this process will be to review individual administrator actions and individual actions taken by users holding advanced permissions.
- Following the 2021 Arbitration Committee elections, the following editors have been appointed to the Arbitration Committee: Beeblebrox, Cabayi, Donald Albury, Enterprisey, Izno, Opabinia regalis, Worm That Turned, Wugapodes.
- The functionaries email list (functionaries-enlists.wikimedia.org) will no longer accept incoming emails apart from those sent by list members and WMF staff. Private concerns, apart from those requiring oversight, should be directly sent to the Arbitration Committee.

How we will see unregistered users
Hi!
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.
If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.
We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.
Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Marsha P. Johnson tribute song by Sammy Copley
Read your comments about my removed contribution. Although I understand the concerns, especially when it comes to copyrights and spamming, I do think Sammy Copley is not a no-name artist. He is signed to a label and has gained millions of views on YT. Kind regards, Bob — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bobheid (talk • contribs) 03:24, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- What label, and where does his work appear besides YouTube? - CorbieVreccan ☊ ☼ 19:13, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- Looking at the "label"... it looks to be a website that takes open submissions, "in all genres". It doesn't appear to record or distribute music, but rather lists the social media links of people who self-produce. Some of their "signed artists" only have an instagram and a tiktok. - CorbieVreccan ☊ ☼ 20:44, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for the feedback. Tinpot Records, founded by Tom Rosenthal last year, is still a work in progress. Let's see how Sammy Copley's career develops and if he gains more clout add the song? If not, then not. As you can see I'm not a daily wikipedian, so this stuff is a bit trial and mostly error for me, although I have contributed successfully in my field of education (Medieval History) in the past. Kind regards, Bob — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bobheid (talk • contribs) 23:12, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
- Agreed, Tom Rosenthal (musician), now that all the self-sourced stuff has been cleaned up, barely meets notablity. I have to say, there are also probable WP:COI/Autobio issues with that article, as well. The majority of the content was contributed by a Single Purpose Account and was sourced to his own sites. I think the use of his songs on the TV shows probably makes him notable, but only barely. The new label... "two" of the artists are him and his alter-ego. And it sounds like he's barely performed live. - CorbieVreccan ☊ ☼ 23:26, 11 January 2022 (UTC)

Indigenous people's naming conventions
I couldn't find anything on WP:NCP suggesting that indigenous people's tribal citizenship should be used in the context they were used in the Rutherford Falls article. Would you be able to point me in the right direction? --Dennis C. Abrams (talk) 21:00, 28 February 2022 (UTC)
- We mostly handle it at The Indigenous Wikiproject. We've been a bit slow about getting it all integrated into the MOS. - CorbieVreccan ☊ ☼ 21:15, 28 February 2022 (UTC)
Invitation
Hi. I'd like to invite you to contribute to an article on working to create space for Indigenous history and culture on Wikipedia. The article will be simultaneously published in an academic journal and on the Wikiproject if project members agree. Your insights would be extremely valuable. I'm going to issue a similar invitation to some members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Indigenous peoples of North America, and would welcome additional suggestions for people to invite. The article is in a very early stage of planning as my hope is that it will be fully collaborative and that everyone who wants to will have a hand in designing it (and, of course, Indigenous voices should be prioritised rather than my own).
If you are interested, or have further questions, please sign up here or leave a comment on this subpage's talk: User:Vizjim/IndigenousWikipedia. Regards and respect, Vizjim (talk) 09:20, 1 March 2022 (UTC)

Kyrie's enrollment
It seems you are intent on using "documented descendent" in Kyrie Irving's article just so you can use him as an example on your essay. That seems unnecessary since he is now enrolled as the new sources state. oncamera (talk page) 22:22, 9 March 2022 (UTC)
- That was his status for four years. I had no idea he had petitioned for, let alone been recently been granted, citizenship. He was also mis-filed under "self-identified". I'm just trying to keep things accurate. - CorbieVreccan ☊ ☼ 22:35, 9 March 2022 (UTC)
