Why

Why did you change the edit I made to Jerry Lynn's page? It was an incoherent mess before and I fixed it up and added a fact.

Sorry, feel free to revert me if you think I'm wrong. --Closedmouth (talk) 07:48, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Advice

Hi, thanks for your work on tracking recent changes, you're providing a really useful service.  :) One small course correction though, from some comments related to Teardrop trailer. What the anon was doing there was definitely disruptive, but I wouldn't classify it as vandalism. Instead, that was more of a content dispute. I recommend reserving the word "vandalism" for really blatant cases, like page blanking or inserting random profanity. For everything else, "disruption" is better. See also WP:VANDAL#NOT. Other than that though, keep up the great work!  :) --Elonka 20:29, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Look at User:VON HEINE's recent edits[1][2] and consider getting action as announced, see User_talk:VON_HEINE#Please_stop. However, it could be that VON HEINE is identical to user:PARADISEINN, the original contributer of the Heine pages, both are spelled with all capitals. Your revert on WALL-E

I doubt you have any idea what you're talking about. You, as someone who apparently often help fight vandalism in Wikipedia, seem to have little knowledge of what actually is required of articles. No offence here, but it'd be better if you'd take some time to read WP:MOS and what actually is WP:NPOV. Naurmacil (talk) 09:23, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

so if you wanna say he was born in some random nigga country you'd better come up with a source to refute my irrefutable logic. yeah, thats paradoxical.

Thanks for notification of informal mediation request

Thanks for tipping me off to the informal mediation request. I've never had one of these things happen before and I'm curious if you could clue me in to a few more things about it.

His request for informal mediation has pertinent factual errors, such as the accusation that I removed the one- or two-sentence mention of his beloved company from the article most recently. That was actually done by someone else. I was OK with the way it was before that brief mention was removed, although I do think the article is better without it. Anyway, his request is generally biased and indicates a lack of familiarity with the contents of WP:NOTTRUTH, WP:NOT, and other Wikipedia guideline and policy. However, someone will have to dig into the contents of the article discussion tab to piece many of these things together.

My question to you, if you wish to answer it, is what do you suggest I do at this time? I could add comments to the discussion section of the informal mediation request, but that seems like time I could better spend doing more important and/or enjoyable things. On the other hand, it might save someone else some work. The other choice I have is to ignore it as the spurious rubbish it is unless and until someone (a mediator, I suppose?) contacts me about it. Thanks for your time. SlubGlub (talk) 06:24, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Just a heads up

Do you think you could explain your edits, such as the revert in Cronology of Mana (video game series)? I personally know why you made the revert, but the user who created the page is a new user and likely had no idea why it was done. I'm just mentioning this because we've had a lot of WP:VG related WP:BITE incidents lately and it's been putting some of our newer editors off editing articles or causing some horrendous situations (such as one AfD in particular...). Don't take this as a warning or anything, just a friendly heads up to everyone to remind them that newer editors aren't familiar with Wikipedia's policies, and I know that everyone forgets that from time to time. --.:Alex:. 18:21, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Friendly note about talk page messages

Hello. As a recent editor at User talk:96.231.17.222, I wanted to leave you a friendly reminder that as per WP:USER, editors may remove messages at will from their own talk page. While we may prefer that messages be archived, policy does not prohibit users -including anonymous users- from deleting comments from their own talk pages. The only talk page messages that may not be removed (as per WP:BLANKING) are declined unblock requests (but only while blocks are still in effect), confirmed sockpuppetry notices, or shared IP header templates (for anonymous editors) ... and these exceptions are just to keep a user from gaming the system. Thanks, Kralizec! (talk) 15:12, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Yes, that was an unnecessary attempt on my part to make sure it didn't seem like I was making an invalid report. Sorry about that. --Closedmouth (talk) 15:18, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
No worries! Ever since WP:USER was changed, I almost never look at the talk page for this very reason. Instead I look at the talk page history when processing AIV block requests. Thanks again, Kralizec! (talk) 21:18, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Kite

You removed my link for kite history that is not effectively covered in the wiki, and called it a link that was not to be done, yet further above in the section, you find a link to a kite shoppe in England. I feel you are talking out of both sides of your mouth as I was trying to give a link for additional history to this site, and you took it as an external link. AS well, you have several Kite shops that I see have links with bogus information. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.144.146.240 (talk) 15:08, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

When I'm patrolling recent changes I usually only take issue with the most recent edit to an article. I've subsequently removed some objectionable links from the article [5] --Closedmouth (talk) 15:18, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

PROD procedure

Hi there. I wish to propose a change to the PROD procedure whereby users must provide a reason when removing a prod. Otherwise, the prod may be reinstated. Where would be the best place to propose this change? – PeeJay 08:56, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

You could try at WT:PROD, but it's been suggested a few times before. --Closedmouth (talk) 08:57, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
I see. Obviously the general consensus was not to implement the change. Any idea why that was? – PeeJay 17:38, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
Any exclusion of a circumstance of a prod being contested invalidates the "uncontroversial deletions" aspect that is fundamental to the policy. It doesn't matter if you consider their objections to be invalid, they're still contesting it. That's how it works. --Closedmouth (talk) 07:40, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for running the Bot through the Eastbourne page. However, the term 'Airbourne' is a deliberate play on words ... Airborne + Eastbourne. It's the name of an annual air display at Eastbourne. The other items which have come up in red do not seem to differ from those which were already there. Anyway, we can change back to 'Airbourne' and we thank you for the Bot. I see, sorry about that. Might want to put {{sic}} after it (or just a comment) for future would-be typo fixers. --Closedmouth (talk) 10:29, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks

Hey Closedmouth,

thank you very much for your welcome on my talk page! i think contributing to wikipedia makes more fun if your edits get noticed. Yours, --Andreasweber (talk) 00:22, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

No worries. --Closedmouth (talk) 13:15, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Vandalism?

Can you assist me so that my posts aren't deleted or construed as vandalism?

Thanks Aaron

You recently changed Rasberry House to Raspberry House. There is no 'P' in this proper name. Please check your facts before you blithely fix spelling errors. Atrian (talk) 23:50, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, there was no indication that it was an intentional misspelling. --Closedmouth (talk) 04:54, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Return of the vandal

Please see: Special:Contributions/82.2.236.210 and User talk:81.136.29.152 regarding the removal of the Jesus category that you had reverted for Special:Contributions/78.105.55.79. Thanks History2007 (talk) 20:03, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads-up, I had no idea it was an ongoing sockpuppet issue. We've crossed paths before. --Closedmouth (talk) 10:13, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

Are you contesting the PROD on this article? 217.36.107.9 (talk) 13:25, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

Nope, 24.150.171.243 (talk) did. Please assume good faith and read WP:PROD#Conflicts. --Closedmouth (talk) 13:29, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
Given that was said IP's first and only edit, I reasonably assumed it to be a newbie test, rather than a legitimate contest. If you disagree, I ask that you create the AfD page, since it would take at least four days before I could do so. 217.36.107.9 (talk) 13:32, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
No problem, see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Paul Karason. --Closedmouth (talk) 13:37, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

Hatnotes

I don't understand why we need a link to the "list of basic x topics" at the start of every single country page, surely you could have just added the link to the respective disambiguation pages (as I just did for Iceland). --Closedmouth (talk) 04:26, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

They are key introductory articles on the subject, with the same (encompassing) scope as the main article, and therefore highly relevant. Disambiguation is for subjects that share the same name, while the List of basic Iceland topics covers the same subject -- it's not merely synonymous -- it isn't an "other use" of the term, it's the same use. And readers will find it very useful for studying Iceland. The Transhumanist 04:34, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

RE: Damn

Yeah, I get that a lot. Back in college some of the girls used to pronounce it "krazy-lick" which was always a hoot (but oddly enough, it did not score me as many dates as one might have wished). The preferred pronounciation is "kral-uh-zeck" if you were wondering, but I will generally respond to most anything you call me. Thanks, Kralizec! (talk) 14:43, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

Or in my case, perhaps "krazi" would also be appropriate! --Kralizec! (talk) 14:13, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your help.

I've been fighting these two ips on the Naruto Antagonists list for a while now. I think they are either the same user on a dynamic IP or Meatpuppets. Next time I'm going to the project admin to ask for block. Anyways, thanks for the reinforcement. Glad I am not a lone zealot facing a huge zerg rush. Sasuke9031 (talk) 08:33, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

No problem. --Closedmouth (talk) 08:43, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Proper data displays

Thank you for visiting one of my edits pertaining to the lists being maintained at this site.

I guess I am concerned as to why you chose to restore a page with invalid data relative to the title of the page...or maybe I misinterpreted something?

I'm new to this...

I apologise if I reverted a legitimate edit, but you removed an enormous amount of data without explaining why you were doing it your edit summary. I don't have to assume bad faith to see that as vandalism. --Closedmouth (talk) 05:57, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
