IRC Channel
Was there something improper about my post on this secret channel for Admins only? I notcied you blanked the discussion. BobDysart (talk) 01:31, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, it was pointless drama-mongering. The channel is neither news nor secret. It's problematic, but the community is discussing those problems (as you're well aware [1]). If someone like me who isn't even in the channel is familiar with the problems, then we don't need any threads just to falsely advertise real known problems with the channel.--chaser - t 01:36, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
- If you don't want to discuss this any further please let me know. But I've been struggling as a noob on Wikipedia and after getting smack down after smackdown with all kinds of rules and acronyms and being lectured about consensus and how everything was decided out in the open, the existence of this channel came as a great surprise to me. I only learned about it today, so maybe it won't seem like such a big deal after a while. But I hardly see the discussion of an Admin only channel where many (most?) of the decisions are REALLY made as drama mongering. I think the drama is real. I'd been referred to lots of pages on SPAs, socks, blocks, BLPs, but I haven't seen a single mention of the use of private discussions as Wikipedia protocol. Sorry for disturbing you. Thank you for taking the time to explain yourself. BobDysart (talk) 01:58, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
- I don't believe you [2] and no, I don't want to discuss it anymore.--chaser - t 02:00, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
Candidate bios
Hi, I recently tried to edit Template:Barack Obama in response to an {{editprotected}} request on it's talk page. I thought I could because the template is only semi-protected, but it appears I can't edit it because it is transcluded on User:Chaser/Candidate bios, which is fully protected with the "cascading" option. I'm sure you have a good reason for doing so, but I'd like to request that you remove the cascading option. Please let me know if and why this isn't possible. Thanks!--Aervanath lives in the Orphanage 05:36, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
- It's only for another 20 hours or so, and it's to prevent template vandalism.--chaser - t 12:11, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, ok. I'll try to put the edit through tomorrow, then, if someone doesn't beat me to it. Thanks!--Aervanath lives in the Orphanage 14:29, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
- I already did it.--chaser - t 15:42, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
Obama edits
why did you remove the category "American people of Muslim descent" from Barack Obama page? This fact is not disputable, his father was a Muslim. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Roukas (talk • contribs) 06:41, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
- Hahaha. Chaser, you bad, bad man! Rouge, I say! --MZMcBride (talk) 06:42, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry. It seemed to be vandalism at the time. That said, I agree with these folks that the category doesn't work.--chaser - t 00:55, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
Norsk Organisasjon for Terrengsykling - deleted text
Hi, could you please provide me with a copy of the text from the above article which was speedy-deleted? Thanks. Mauls (talk) 18:06, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
I've been trying to avoid this, but enough time has passed that I can now look at the case calmly, even if I still want it vacated, so (as I am Vanished user, after all) I have asked the case be reopened, both there, and at WP:AN.
You were only tangentally involved, so I'll let you choose whether or not to add your name to the case. Shoemaker's Holiday (talk) 14:36, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
- Unfortunately I don't have time to look into it given my tangential involvement in the case.--chaser - t 03:53, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
- I'll make a brief statement in the next few days, but the specifics will be limited.--chaser - t 04:39, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
A question
Hey, not sure if you are right person, but you are admin so I will ask you. Can you please do something about Montenegrin related articles on Wikipedia. On every page Serbs edit it and put "Serbian" language, even though official language is Montenegrin, and not Serbian. Can you please help us, as there is no limit of Serbian aggression, even on Wikipedia. And it will show that Wikipedia respects every country constitution. Thanks for reading, I hope I will get answer from you. Best regards, Rave92 Rave92 (talk) 13:02, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
- I'm sorry. I really don't have time to involve myself in that these days. Perhaps in one month, after finals are over.--chaser - t 18:17, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
We have had some discussion regarding deletion of editnotices, see Wikipedia talk:Editnotice#Guidelines for editnotices. I think this one should be kept, as we may need it again in the future and also for its history. We can leave it blank for now since it's not needed at the moment. Cenarium Talk 00:39, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
- Good idea. Done.--chaser - t 01:37, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
Twinkle vs. Rollback question
Hello, I've been wondering this for some time, and as an admin you seem to be one to ask: is there any advantage to having rollback over twinkle? If rollback rights make it significantly easier to revert vandalism, I certainly would appreciate having them. Thank you, Lithoderm (talk) 17:27, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- I've heard it said that rollback functions better and more consistently than the various Javascript hacks out there that give similar functionality. Request rollback at Wikipedia:Requests for permissions.--chaser - t 21:03, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
WP:SMI
Thanks, I was wondering what the shortcut to that section was, but couldn't quite remember it in my head. ⇒SWATJester Son of the Defender 02:26, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Obama transition edit
good edit of the Eric Holder info in transition entry. thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.152.51.174 (talk) 17:35, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

Template:Obama cabinet
Thank you for stepping in and pausing that, and advocating mediation on the issue. I wasn't taking notice of what time I made the first revert and as a consequence was ignorant of my violating the three-revert rule. Mea culpa.Lestatdelc (talk) 02:37, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
Happy Thanksgiving!
I just wanted to wish those Wikipedians who have been nice enough to give me a barnstar or smile at me, supportive enough to agree with me, etc., a Happy Thanksgiving! Sincerely, --Happy Thanksgiving! Sincerely, A NobodyMy talk 02:52, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
Talk page archives
Dear Chaser, please note that PhilKnight has okayed it if you wish to delete those pages. --Happy Thanksgiving! Sincerely, A NobodyMy talk 19:13, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
- I say delete them and, if the community decides the archives contain pressing evidence needed for later discussion, restore. Cheers, Master of Puppets Call me MoP! :D 20:16, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
Updated Infobox SCOTUS case
Hi. Your thoughts here, specifically as to whether you think the one or the two-column layout tested here works best, would be much appreciated. Sardanaphalus (talk) 22:00, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
Feedback?
Hello! I have set up Wikipedia:Editor review/A Nobody should you wish to comment. Please note that I am notifying a handful of experienced editors who are familiar with me as I am particularly interested in anything they have to add. If you do not wish to comment, that is fine too. All the best! Sincerely, --A NobodyMy talk 21:19, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for blocking Salsaishot, but do you mind deleting Bupane, the hoax article?

I'm not sure I agree with your logic in closing this case so quickly. Forgetting a password might explain the first two accounts, but the third one popped up and removed the AfD notice from the article. Also, shouldn't the user be able to get a new password by e-mail? My concern is that, if you are correct, this user will simply create a new account every time they log in, and soon we'll have a hundred "Lord Morleys" with 1 or 2 contribs apiece, instead of one account with a coherent edit history. Perhaps I should just try to explain all this to this guy myself? Beeblebrox (talk) 19:48, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
- I forgot to mention, the article the three accounts have been working on is a probable hoax as well. Beeblebrox (talk) 19:56, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for reconsidering, I think you are probably right that they will all go away once the AfD is closed. Beeblebrox (talk) 21:20, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
