Information icon Hello, I'm Theroadislong. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Noble and Greenough School have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 20:27, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Theroadislong, are you able to share how to avoid promotional language?
This is the Noble & Greenough Graduates Awards site: https://site.rocketalumnisolutions.com/home/210
While the descriptions of the awards are promotional for the alumni award winners, they are factual descriptions from the high school.
Please let me know. Thank you! Chase8420138538 (talk) 20:37, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
"distinguished alumni through a series of prestigious awards" is clearly promotional language, the awards could only be mentioned if they have been reported on by independent sources, Wikipedia has zero interest in what the schools website says. Theroadislong (talk) 20:41, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thank you. I have read many help articles now and understand the editing process much better. Chase8420138538 (talk) 22:51, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. Your recent edit to Concordia College (Moorhead, Minnesota) appears to have added the name of a non-notable entity to a list that normally includes only notable entries. In general, a person, organization or product added to a list should have a pre-existing article before being added to most lists. If you wish to create such an article, please first confirm that the subject qualifies for a separate, stand-alone article according to Wikipedia's notability guideline. Thank you. Meters (talk) 20:54, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

And please read WP:MINOR Meters (talk) 20:55, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Got it - I understand now. Thank you! Chase8420138538 (talk) 22:50, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to add promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, as you did at Noble and Greenough School, you may be blocked from editing. Theroadislong (talk) 21:05, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I am new to Wikipedia editing and learning the standards. Thank you for the feedback. I am going to focus on some smaller additions to start. Chase8420138538 (talk) 21:17, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at Noble and Greenough School, you may be blocked from editing. Magnolia677 (talk) 21:23, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies, I am new to Wikipedia editing. Are you able to share what was not properly sourced?
I was adding from these sources:
Oliver White's wikipedia: Oliver White (soccer)
Cabineetly Wikipedia: Cabinteely F.C.
Nobles's Hall of Fame: https://site.rocketalumnisolutions.com/entry/210/1207/6266f16869fc703dee47943f Chase8420138538 (talk) 21:27, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia cannot be used as a source. Please see Help:Referencing for beginners. --Magnolia677 (talk) 21:58, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If I cite the school's Hall of Fame, would that now be acceptable?
I appreciate the assistance! Chase8420138538 (talk) 22:13, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No... it is not acceptable it is a primary source. Theroadislong (talk) 22:16, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I believe this is a secondary source. Is that correct? I think I am catching on to the editing standards here. I appreciate the assistance!

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you insert a spam link, as you did with this edit to New England Preparatory School Athletic Council. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted, preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well as potentially being penalized by search engines. Apologies, I am new to Wikipedia editing. Are you able to share why this is considered a spam link?
This is the official website of the NEPSAC - New England Preparatory School Athletic Council.
Thank you! Chase8420138538 (talk) 22:10, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Again, read Help:Referencing for beginners. It will answer your questions. Your edits are disruptive, and saying "I'm new here", when every editor here has pointed you to a help page, is not a good way to start. Magnolia677 (talk) 22:23, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I understand now. Thank you!
Would attaching this NEPSAC Awards & Honors site in the external link section be helpful? It is linked in a drop down on the official NESPAC site but it is a different site. Chase8420138538 (talk) 22:49, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It would not be appropriate as an external link on school articles, per WP:ELMINOFFICIAL and WP:LINKFARM. --Magnolia677 (talk) 22:59, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Additions of rocketalumnisolutions.com

[edit]

You've had a warning above for improper external links, but you're adding links to rocketalumnisolutions.com to multiple articles - these links do not meet our requirements for external linking. You must stop doing that. MrOllie (talk) 23:12, 25 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
