Welcome!
[edit]Hi, and welcome to the Biography WikiProject! We're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of biographies.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- The project has a monthly newsletter; it will normally be delivered as a link, but several other formats are available.
There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:
- Starting some new articles? Our article structure tips outlines some things to include.
- Want to know how good our articles are? The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every biography article in Wikipedia.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask another fellow member, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! plange 16:58, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Liaquat Ali Khan
[edit]I have written an article regarding Liaquat Ali Khan, a prominent leader for the Pakistan movement and the First Prime minister of Pakistan. Although it has recieved a "B" rating but that was prior to addition of the criticism and legacy section and the provision of five more references. I believe the article deserves a higher rating since it fills all the requirements for a Good Article and easily be upgraded to a Featured Article. It has relevant and tagged images, ample and very credible references, presents an unbiased view and is well written.
It would be great if you could review and point out the mistakes and give it a proper rating.

Hi. Thanks for the info. :-) Do you know where one could find a source for the airing? Such as a Portugese TV schedule site? Or if you have an approximate time for when it aired, then I could try searching in the Internet archive. --GunnarRene 00:52, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
Helping out with the Unassessed Wikipedia Biographies
[edit]Seeing that you are an active member of the WikiBiography Project, I was wondering if you would help lend a hand in helping us clear out the amount of unassessed articles tagged with {{WPBiography}}. Many of them are of stub and start class, but a few are of B or A caliber. Getting a simple assessment rating can help us start moving many of these biographies to a higher quality article. Thank you! --Ozgod 20:14, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

East Timor MPs
[edit]I'm really glad to see someone taking an interest in getting that list complete - I'd nearly gotten through to the end when I found a couple of anomalies I just couldn't work out from the parliament website. If you could finish it, I would be very grateful - feel free to move what I've done so far into main space. Sorry it took a few days to get back to you - been doing university assessment. Simone
[edit]Hello Cattus, Tks for yr tips for this article Iam writing, Simone Bittencourt de Oliveira, brazilian singer. It´s the first time I write a bio and I´d lik eto know if I can link to Youtube; also the fact that I believe Simone doesn´t have references within the english language on the Net... so how will I "source"?
- Hello Cattus,
Tks again for yr tips. Yes, Iam translating this original portuguese article. As for links and sources I can only link to pages in portuguese, since there is no references abt her in english. Well there are some Youtube videos that are recorded alive on the shows. Let´s see what I can do.
- Hello Cattus!
How are you? I hope fine.
- Dozens of brazilian misicians are from Bahia. How can I open a category People from Bahia.
- Do you know why my signature i still red light?
- Cattus, Hello!
If, you pls, is there any prob. link to Multiply? I´ve just linked some notes/references to Multiply. Is there any police against this portal?
- Tks
- Best regards,

- Excerpt of the AfD debate, with response/request:
Keep It’s borderline, but I think he’s notable. He’s certainly not as famous and notable as Sam the Kid or Boss AC – two hip hop “superstars” – but he seems to have had a significant impact on Portuguese hip hop recently, even with only two albums and two or three videoclips. Someone who knows more than me about Portuguese hip hop should give their opinion on this. Anyway, here are some sources supporting his notability: Acording to this article on a Portuguese music site, his second album “Serviço Público” was considered by the critics as one of the best Portuguese hip hop albums of 2006. On this article on the newspaper Diário de Notícias, a prominent hip hop critic, Rui Miguel Abreu, calls him the only political rapper in Portugal. Cattus talk 17:25, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
- Would it be possible to get some clear and accurately translated quotes from those articles posted to Valete? That would remedy everything but the tone issues, and those are easy enough to fix. MrZaiustalk 17:38, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
- I don't know how to use quotes as references, but I'll try. I've also found another article about him from the magazine Visão transcribed in this site. In the introduction it says he “jumped from the underground hip hop to the radio playlists”. Cattus talk 17:52, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
- It should be possible to translate a one or two sentence quote and simply include it in the article using blockquote, or even to include a smaller translated quote in the article text proper. Given the quote, just cite the quote like you would anything else, but word it <ref>"Translated from.... rest of source, date, access time, etc".</ref> MrZaiustalk 18:01, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Hello Cattus! If you please tell me how can I rate these 2 articles: Nísia Floresta and Simone Bittencourt de Oliveira [4]
- ?????
- I also need to have a PVT tal k with you. Can we? Want to talk abt Roberto Carlos article.
- By the way, don´t we have a "Brazilian male singers" category?
Hello? -- Ludovicapipa talk 19:03, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
Category
[edit]Hello Cattus, I´d like to open a new category: Brazilian Mezzo-sopranos. And a "Brazilian male singers" category? Tks Hello, Cattus, Tks again for yr support. Well, my pVT comment on Roberto Carlos is rellay private. I don´t think I could say that in public... Shouldn´t we specify Brazilian female mezzo-sopranos?
- Cattus,
- Roberto Carlos´s category of amputee in not a relly cool thing to say. (Thta´s what I wanted to tell you.
- Women can be mezzosopranos, OH, God, YES!! They do! Mezzo, as it says, is "after" soprano. Is the article says that, it is completely wrong.
- Yes, correct, now!! Yes! Only women can be mezzo. That´s right also abt RC. To be honest I don´t think this category should exist.

The newsletter is back! Many things have gone on during the past few months, but many things have not. While the assessment drive helped revitalize the assessment department of the project, many other departments have received no attention. Most notably: peer review and our "workgroups". A day long IRC meeting has been planned for October 13th, with the major focus being which areas of the project are "dead", what should our goals be as a project, and how to "revive" the dead areas of our project. Contribute to the discussion on the the new channel (see below) We decided to deliver this newsletter to all project members this month but only those with their names down here will get it delivered in the future. This is your newsletter and you can be involved in the creation of the next issue. Any and all contributions are welcome. Simply let yourself be known to any of the undersigned or post news on the next issue's talk page
Lastly, a new WikiProject Biography channel has been set up on the freenode network: Our thanks to Phoenix 15 for setting it up.

Hello, Cattus, I see you finished this list; great work. I'm trying to find somebody to update the list again, probably using a modification of the Perl script on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles/fr. If you know how to do such things, you could run the script and create a new list to work from. Please answer or leave comments at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles/es. I'm asking a few different people I've seen who seem to be able to do this, so if you're not able to do it or are too busy, don't worry about it. Rigadoun (talk) 20:12, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
