Split off NDS version of the Hulk video game?

From what I see in the article, the DS version of The Incredible Hulk (2008 video game) is a totally different game. It's talked about alongside the main console version, but I'm not sure it should even be mentioned in the console's article at all. I think you should heavily consider splitting the article into a The Incredible Hulk (2008 PlayStation 2 video game) and The Incredible Hulk (2008 Nintendo DS video game). (I chose the former because it's the earliest/oldest console it released on). ZXCVBNM (TALK) 10:40, 12 January 2022 (UTC)

P.S. That would also necessitate the current screenshot in the article be split back to individual screenshots. However, that would also allow for more resolution for each respective picture since right now the two of them are considered a single non-free image. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 11:25, 12 January 2022 (UTC)
I wouldn't recommend it personally. Because it lacks any dedicated press coverage by itself apart from the reviews, the DS version's only notability is in conjunction with the console version. And since it shares cutscenes (as well as cover art) with the console version, I doubt it really qualifies that much as its own game. If it was fundamentally different on every conceivable level and got its own coverage like the case with Hulk and The Incredible Hulk (2003), I'd be inclined to agree, but it isn't really so here. Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 16:26, 12 January 2022 (UTC)
@Cat's Tuxedo: Erm, there is definitely dedicated coverage apart from the reviews. There's an entire postmortem on the game's development that goes into significant detail about how the DS game was made, which was totally different than the console version. Reviewers note how different it is and that it's a sidescroller (GameSpot review states "The Incredible Hulk on the Nintendo DS is a far different game than the console versions"). I think it's fairly clear that it needs a separate article. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 01:39, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
@Zxcvbnm: Huh, good find. Thanks for that. Well, in light of this I'm gonna go ahead and withdraw my nomination for now and see about getting a page for the DS game put together. As for the page we have right now, if we really needed to rename it, I wouldn't go with the "PlayStation 2" angle myself since it was actually made for the PS3 and X360, and then downgraded for the PS2 and Wii (and PC). We could always keep the title as is since it's the more well-known between the versions anyway and have the new page be titled "The Incredible Hulk (Nintendo DS video game)" per the Manual of Style. Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 02:07, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
@Cat's Tuxedo: Sounds good. I believe we do need to move it since it would otherwise remain ambiguous with the DS game. The year should also stay in for both since there is a game with the same title in a different year, otherwise it could have just used the platforms to disambiguate. So I'd just use "2008 PlayStation 3 video game" (or Xbox 360, depending on which one seems more like the "main" version). Honestly I am not too certain about the formatting for an edge case like this so it may have to be added to the manual of style, but I do know it should have "'Year' 'Platform' video game". ZXCVBNM (TALK) 02:19, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
P.S. You should consider setting up talk page archiving, it's above the typical limit for talk page size. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 02:30, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
P.P.S. When uploading the new screenshots, to avoid it being resized by a bot, the height X width in pixels should be less than 100k. I also suggest using PNG format whenever possible to avoid artifacting resulting in lower quality. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 02:35, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
@Zxcvbnm: Perhaps a more open discussion in the article's talk page is called for so that we can get a clearer consensus on the matter, especially since trying to decide between the X360 or PS3 being the "main" version strikes me as splitting hairs if not getting into original research territory. Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 02:52, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
@Cat's Tuxedo: I posted it on WP:VG/Talk instead since it's an issue that affects more than just this article, so coming to some consensus about a new rule would be nice. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 03:14, 13 January 2022 (UTC)

We should add on Bob Camp's page, a section of Controversy, regarding he is making unproven and unreliable information he's the "co-creator" of The Ren & Stimpy Show?

That's because, due to Bill Wray's interview denying the information that Bob Camp still does to this day he's claims that he's the co-creator of Ren and Stimpy (as shown here when I talked with him: https://facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10225941420785679&id=1339389430&anchor_composer=false) is on the original series page, we should add a section of Controversy on his page here on Wikipedia? Despite the Controversy section on people's pages on Wikipedia is seen as very negative. MariaSantanaSilva (talk) 20:32, 30 November 2021 (UTC)

Personal social media interactions aren't reliable high-quality sources. Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 21:43, 30 November 2021 (UTC)

Right. It seems unfortunately I will have to link to a link from his store, BobLab (which is controlled by him and his wife), where he claims is the "co creator" (which is misspelled, when the correct spelling is co-creator) of Nickelodeon's The Ren & Stimpy Show to the Controversy section regarding he making misinformation about he being the co-creator of Ren and Stimpy, despite contradictory evidence like Bill Wray's interview which is on the original Ren and Stimpy Show page denying that.

I hope this one works: https://boblabshop.com/collections/all/products/11x14-ren-stimpy-poster-signed-by-bob-camp MariaSantanaSilva (talk) 23:02, 30 November 2021 (UTC)

I think it would be interesting if the controversy section was instead his public image section on his page, because it would address his misinformation that he has been doing for years of him calling himself "Co-Creator of Nickelodeon's The Ren & Stimpy Show" as shown in that link I put of his store, despite not being true, since denials like Bill Wray's 1993 interview which is on The Ren & Stimpy Show page are easy enough to deny that MariaSantanaSilva (talk) 14:28, 19 January 2022 (UTC)

Re: Uploading screenshots

Hi, I noticed your screenshot that you uploaded for the DS Hulk game was very blurry. Video compression often destroys the screenshot especially with low resolution videos, so I suggest not using video screencaps unless absolutely necessary. I usually look for a screenshot in Mobygames first, and if nothing good is there, a general image search.

I think one of the screenshots from the postmortem would make the best substitute; while still obviously compressed, the even clearer ones around have publisher watermarks, and at least the UI is readable. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 04:27, 21 January 2022 (UTC)

Congratulations, Cat's Tuxedo! The list you nominated, List of Hulk video games, has been promoted to featured status, recognizing it as one of the best lists on Wikipedia. The nomination discussion has been archived.
This is a rare accomplishment and you should be proud. If you would like, you may nominate it to appear on the Main page as Today's featured list. Keep up the great work! Cheers, PresN (talk) via FACBot (talk) 00:26, 13 April 2022 (UTC)

How to place 'List of Hulk video games'

Hey, it's a very minor point, but when I put List of Hulk video games on the VG featured content page, I went with "Other related" instead of "Lists of games/media by series" because I didn't think "Hulk" was a series so much as a categorization - "list of games that have the Hulk as a character". I was pushed that direction because the list's title and text don't italicize "Hulk" like it's a name of a series- but then you moved it to "by series" and italicized it, so I was surprised. Since it's your list: which way do you see it? If it's a "series", shouldn't the series name be italicized in the list too? --PresN 01:55, 13 April 2022 (UTC)

@PresN: The move was mostly based on the fact that List of X-Men video games is in the same section and it would seem inconsistent to have one list of Marvel video games in one section and another such list in a different one. Also, I'm honestly not sure why Hulk isn't italicized in the list title; unless it's an automatic thing, I hadn't figured out the mechanism for that. Again, italicizing the name within the FL section was mostly for consistency. If the move is in error, then no big deal, I'd be fine with reverting it. Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 02:03, 13 April 2022 (UTC)
@Cat's Tuxedo: It's no big deal, I just wanted it to be consistent. If you wanted the list title to have italics, there's a template that does it (infoboxes will try to do it for you, but this list doesn't have one). I've added it. --PresN 04:05, 13 April 2022 (UTC)
@PresN: Ah, thanks for that. Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 04:42, 13 April 2022 (UTC)

Coco Bandicoot

What you said in the summary:

"Those two aforementioned sources are only about her incorporation into a game and complaints about her aesthetic design in another. Nothing in the section holds any substantial analysis of her as a character or even her vocal performances. Please discuss this further in the talk page."

There is no requirement for this for notability. WP:INU simply states that articles in fictional elements should be written as if they were real. That's achieved through a creation and/or a reception section, and Coco has both. MoonJet (talk) 05:40, 5 May 2022 (UTC)

@MoonJet: The mere presence of conception and reception sections doesn't cut it if their content isn't substantial enough. Do critics think anything of her personality? Do they find her endearing or annoying? Does her relationships with other characters resonate with people? Any real-world impact whatsoever? Is the fanbase even thirsty enough to make waves? Seeing how the answer to all is a resounding no, the degree of analysis just isn't significant enough to justify an individual page, and you've apparently learned nothing from this experience. Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 06:10, 5 May 2022 (UTC)
She passes still WP:GNG, even with the lack of real-world impact. All we need some informative reception on her, which I would argue she has. The reception for Doctor Neo Cortex (which is a GA) also pertains to only the games. MoonJet (talk) 06:32, 5 May 2022 (UTC)
@MoonJet: You're setting yourself up to fail in the exact same fashion as before. If this character had any significant coverage, I'd have made the article myself long ago, but it simply doesn't exist. Nobody cares enough about her for it to happen, even less so than Amy. Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 06:53, 5 May 2022 (UTC)
I would like to note that I still disagree with the Amy Rose merge, and have found more sources for her since the last discussion.
Amy and Coco both meet WP:GNG and WP:INU, which both trumps any expectations for real-world impact. Real-world impact is nice to have, but fictional articles can survive without it, whereas they need to pass GNG. But either way, I just added another source to the article that's completely devoted to Coco, and discusses her personality. MoonJet (talk) 09:02, 5 May 2022 (UTC)
@MoonJet: That source, yet again, only talks about how she's incorporated into a game. There is no proper article to be had about a character if no direct and in-depth critical analysis of her personality/writing/following/etc. exists, which I and most assuredly others can attest doesn't exist. You failed to convince anyone otherwise then, and I'm warning you that you will fail even harder now if I happened to ping the very same parties for their input on the matter. So, it looks like the AFD is going to end in a redirect. But that doesn't mean that the Coco article is necessarily gone forever, since consensus can change. What do you say about re-writing the article sometime down the road? We could even do it as a collaboration effort. You talked about her lack of character analysis in reliable sources. Remember just because you haven't found any such sources, doesn't mean they don't exist. There's also print sources and different language sources to consider. In fact, this old revision shows a couple sources talking about her voice before they were erroneously removed. If I find any more such sources, I'll provide them to you. While I don't agree with this approach, as I mentioned, I am willing to try and compromise. MoonJet (talk) 11:52, 20 May 2022 (UTC)

@MoonJet: When or if the article gets a rewrite is not up to you, and the way I see it, the possibility is next to nothing. The character simply isn't significant enough to garner the coverage needed to justify an article, and that's doubtful to change soon if at all. Speaking as a lifelong fan of this particular series, I've scoured each and every viable source enough to tell you plainly that the coverage you seek doesn't exist. You've made it all too clear that you don't and won't understand what constitutes significant coverage for fictional characters, so the most I can tell you at this point is to just accept what you've been handed and move on. Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 16:07, 20 May 2022 (UTC)
I never said it was up to me. In fact, that's why I approached you to ask for a compromise. It's not that I "don't understand," more like I don't agree with the standards some people have, as what constitutes as significant coverage is subjective in nature. Also, there is no actual guideline for notability of fictional characters, hence we turn to WP:GNG, which I still think Coco meets. I say this as someone that has been a regular editor since 2011 and have worked on fictional character articles since then.
I know you and others in the AFD don't agree, and that's fine. That's why we gain consensus on Wikipedia for these decisions. MoonJet (talk) 16:24, 20 May 2022 (UTC)

Why do you always undo my good faith edits on the Crash Bash article?

Why do you always create redirects to the Sony Interactive Entertainment from the Sony Computer Entertainment article link and always replace the live IGN link here with a dead link here? You always get stuck in the past! All I did was replace the dead IGN link with a new one while keeping the archived link, but you STILL refused to accept the new link and replaced it with an old, dead link. If this is how you're gonna act in keeping old, dead links archived without changing them to the new links, then I quit editing the Crash Bash article for good. --Angeldeb82 (talk) 15:41, 31 May 2022 (UTC)

The earliest form of a given source is preferable where possible, which naturally may require an archive link. And per WP:NOTBROKEN, change to a piped link is unnecessary. Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 16:08, 31 May 2022 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

The Teamwork Barnstar
Thank you so much for picking up the review of Mario & Luigi: Dream Team! Your unsolicited step-in is very much appreciated, and you have helped Year of Luigi get one step away from good topic while I sit alongside the coast of the beach and ignore my current projects. Thanks again! Panini! 🥪 23:46, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
Another stop by to say thanks for your paragraph additions on Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon! I'm glad I have a head start to look forward to when I return to finish overhauling the article, because reception sections are for some reason my least favorite part of the process. I love your word-choice, too! Panini! 🥪 20:12, 26 July 2022 (UTC)
@Panini!: No prob. I totally get that Reception can be kind of a pain to compile for, so figured I could lighten your load at least a bit to make easing back into the groove after your break a touch smoother. Plus I wanted to help push your next Good Topic promotion along ;) Cat's Tuxedo (talk) 20:56, 26 July 2022 (UTC)
