Recent changes
- Logged-in users on the mobile web can choose to use the advanced mobile mode. They now see categories in a similar way as users on desktop do. This means that some gadgets that have just been for desktop users could work for users of the mobile site too. If your wiki has such gadgets you could decide to turn them on for the mobile site too. Some gadgets probably need to be fixed to look good on mobile. [1]
- Language links on Wikidata now works for multilingual Wikisource. [2]

- There is no new MediaWiki version this week.
Future changes
- In the future we can't show the IP of unregistered editors to everyone. This is because privacy regulations and norms have changed. There is now a rough draft of how showing the IP to those who need to see it could work.
- German Wikipedia, English Wikivoyage and 29 smaller wikis will be read-only for a few minutes on 22 June. This is planned between 5:00 and 5:30 UTC. [3]
- All wikis will be read-only for a few minutes in the week of 28 June. More information will be published in Tech News later. It will also be posted on individual wikis in the coming weeks. [4][5]

Editing news 2021 #2

Earlier this year, the Editing team ran a large study of the Reply Tool. The main goal was to find out whether the Reply Tool helped newer editors communicate on wiki. The second goal was to see whether the comments that newer editors made using the tool needed to be reverted more frequently than comments newer editors made with the existing wikitext page editor.
The key results were:
- Newer editors who had automatic ("default on") access to the Reply tool were more likely to post a comment on a talk page.
- The comments that newer editors made with the Reply Tool were also less likely to be reverted than the comments that newer editors made with page editing.
These results give the Editing team confidence that the tool is helpful.
Looking ahead
The team is planning to make the Reply tool available to everyone as an opt-out preference in the coming months. This has already happened at the Arabic, Czech, and Hungarian Wikipedias.
The next step is to resolve a technical challenge. Then, they will deploy the Reply tool first to the Wikipedias that participated in the study. After that, they will deploy it, in stages, to the other Wikipedias and all WMF-hosted wikis.
You can turn on "Discussion Tools" in Beta Features now. After you get the Reply tool, you can change your preferences at any time in Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-editing-discussion.

- Your excuse of "verifiability" does not hold up in this scenario, given the overwhelming preponderance of sources that contradict your conclusion for the page. The attempts not only by me but by multiple other users to rectify the information is a clear recognition of this. The page as it stands is incomplete and incorrectly sourced, and since you fashion yourself as the sole author of these kinds of pages, it seems that you should provide your input on the actual page in question. - Regarding the actual source used, I believe you should go back over many of your recent pages which are clearly linking to the UFC.com results, as well as many pages that do not reference a source at all. As for this event, it is clear that Sherdog has published information that directly contradicts the media consensus and official decision. It is unfortunate that you cannot provide a better reason for favoring Sherdog over all other sources than "that's how it's done" or "because I said so". Savvy10 (talk) 17:04, 18 June 2021 (UTC)

- Since the beginning of the month, phabricator tickets about language codes (and names of languages) were reviewed and triaged to better reflect their content and current status. Some work was done to better identify the steps for such changes, highlight and address bottlenecks and system issues. Patches for a few codes were contributed and are being released. Phabricator "Language codes" workboard provides an overview, phab:T284856 attempts to identify maintenance steps and phab:T284276 determine turn-around times. phab:T284808 should finally close a gap in termbox language handeling. - Kztcity Good day. You change the name in the lead section {introduction section) from Ji Yeon Kim to "Kim Ji-yeon". The name in the lead section (bold text) needs to be aligned with the article name. I understand that the last name (family name / surname) in certain countries is place first then follows by first name which is different from the western world that the first name is placed first then follow by the last name. In English Wikipedia, we would go by the most common name called/addressed/stated by the sources (not by only one source by most sources which would be found). Btw, since you have added the local Korean names, kindly provide sources to support the claim. Source can be in any language as long as the sources are intendent and reliable such as from the newspapers. Let me know if anything else I could help. Stay safe and best. UFC on ESPN: The Korean Zombie vs. Ige
Hello, how are you? Before making drastic changes as you did with the article above, please gather a discussion on the article's talk page. Your motive is not justified. There was never a "per UFC.com" page. Actually, most sources and event poster are the ones that help us with events and their titles. The fact that it shows as Jung vs. Ige has nothing to do with the event's title. The ufc.com event page shows the fighter's last name regardless. Just take a look at previous TKZ fights or events in which the main event is a rematch or trilogy. - Gsfelipe94 Good day. It is not a drastic changes and you should come to discuss first instead of change the event name. As for all the UFC events, the name always per UFC event web site. For this particular event is Jung and not The Korean Zombie. You can check on the list of ufc event vs UFC event site. (note same as some event state Khabib for other state Nurmagomedov). I'll repeat: the ufc.com event page shows the fighter's last name regardless. Just take a look at previous TKZ fights or events in which the main event is a rematch or trilogy. Remember the Nina Nunes thing in which you disagreed and a discussion was started? The majority agreed with changing the name, but a juror considered it was insufficient and it was kept the same (not worth fighting for those things). If admin disagreed with my discussion it would have closed in different results especially majority have different view than I do. I am doing what we normally do, pls go and look at all the UFC events name against Wikipedia UFC event page. What you are doing would subject to future issues because of not being consistent and argument and changing name will be subject to which source we are talking about. - I'm not trying to fight here, but you made a one-side move. The UFC has a poster with TKZ vs. Ige, just as all main media does. Not to mention that TKZ is way more recognizable than Jung. As I mentioned, the ufc.com page has several "Jung" on his events and check the Miocic/Ngannou or Poirier/McGregor fights. They would not have a number by their side if your logic was followed. - Gsfelipe94 It is good to know you are not here to fight for I always collaborate, support and educate other editors and deter editors who vandalize Wikipedia page. I understand you are not please with me as I have voiced my views/votes based on Wikipedia guidelines which contradict to you votes/discussions in the past just like the Nunes page as you mentioned above, which the admin closed the discussion against all the editors' votes, which you included, because I based my discussion on Wikipedia guidelines, and not as mma fans (I watch the fights as a fan) but as I edited the pages as an Wikipedia editor for Wikipedia is an online encyclopedia and not a news site.

- (ii) UFC Fight Night: Iaquinta vs. Cowboy, UFC Fight Night: Cowboy vs. Gaethje, UFC Fight Night: Iaquinta vs. Cowboy, UFC Fight Night: Cowboy vs. Edwards, UFC Fight Night: Cowboy vs. Medeiros, and UFC Fight Night: Cowboy vs. Cowboy as UFC used "Cowboy" instead of "Cerrone" but Cerron vs. Till - see see here and not UFC Fight Night: Cowboy vs. Till.
- (iii) So are events headed by Cris Cyborg for the event name UFC used Cyborg and not here last name Venacio.

- (2) There are many sources have name the same event in many different name, from UFC on ESPN: The Korean Zombie vs. Ige, UFC on ESPN 25, UFC Vegas 29, and UFC on ESPN: Jung vs. Ige. see here - UFC Fight Night: The Korean Zombie vs. Ige by ESPN, UFC on ESPN 25 by MMA Junkie, ESPN 25 Korean Zombie vs. Ige by Sherdog, UFC on ESPN 25: Jung vs. Ige by MMA decision, UFC Vegas 29 by Blech Report. However, if majority of the sources, kindly provide, indicate ESPN: The Korean Zombie vs. Ige then I am Ok with the page name changed but not because it was called The Korean Zombie from the past events or what it is indicated in the poster.

OSP Appeal
I noticed that you reverted my edit on Ovince Saint Preux with the reason being "if the commission changes it to NC then we add info" however I've seen a few pages with appeals that were denied yet still included. HeelPerfection (talk) 07:59, 27 June 2021 (UTC)
- HeelPerfection Hi Heel Perfection, not all sourced info is included in the body texts, especially the "controversy" part. Many fighters grabbed the cage incidents and caused fight situations to different directions, but if referee didnt see it or see it and ignored it, it doesnt mean the fight/the situation is controversy. We all remember, McGregor, have performed 3/4 illegal moves/strike/grab the cage/ kick or knee a ground opponent in the fight with Khabib, as well many eye pokes incidents with other fighters or Sterling, as many ppl thought, he faked the concussion on the fight with Yan etc. and might not all this info is added. We added info when it is relevant to the subject/fight. At this stage, we dont know if the commission would turn the decision so I usually wait until we get the decision from the commission first. If it is overturn then we would added it in with the support of source. If you really want to add the info, pls remove the controversy" part - see WP:NPOV.Stay safe. - Language code "es-419" for Latin American Spanish has been available for labels and descriptions for quite some time (phab:T230786)
- A possibly confusing Russian mis-translation of the name of the language code for "multiple languages" (mul) is being reviewed (phab:T245927)
- "en-simple:" can be used instead of "simple:" to link to Simple Wikipedia. Query Services outputs "en-simple", not "simple" for sitelinks to Simple Wikipedia (phab:T283149).
- There was some discussion about the creation of a language code "en-in" for monolingual strings, but "en-in" as interface language seems to be preferred (phab:T212313)

In the "summary" topic, there are no 3rd or 4th places, but that's ok. It's not wrong, but incomplete, but the "Results" topic is wrong.
First, from 1984 onwards, there was no dispute for third place, but that does not mean that they were sorted in alphabetical order.
That doesn't exist in football. If it did, then Atletico Madrid would be Spanish champions, if there were no matches in the Spanish national league.
They should fix this information by placing West Germany and Wales as third placed, respectively in 1988 and 2016.

- There is no new MediaWiki version this week.
Future changes
- Some Wikimedia wikis use Flagged Revisions or pending changes. It hides edits from new and unregistered accounts for readers until they have been patrolled. The auto review action in Flagged Revisions will no longer be logged. All old logs of auto-review will be removed. This is because it creates a lot of logs that are not very useful. [19]
