New page patrol school

Hello @Cassiopeia, I have noticed the growing backlog in New pages patrol and would like to apply for New page reviewer rights. Before submitting my application, I would appreciate training in this subject. My primary focus has been on improving existing articles through copyediting and adding verifiable references to those lacking sources. Additionally, I have created articles to support mainspace pages and highlight specific subjects independently. I would be obliged if you could kindly assist me in gaining the necessary knowledge and training in this area. Please let me know if you would be willing to help. Thank you. QEnigma (talk) 08:02, 13 November 2024 (UTC)

@Cassiopeia: Hello, and thank you for your response. I have been contributing to Wikipedia since 2015, though intermittently. I would like to inform you that I have completed the WP:TWA programme, as recommended. However, I have removed all the badges recived during the module from my user page. You can verify this through the following revision. Please note that, although the final badge is numbered 15, there are only 14 in total, as badge number 8 appears to be unavailable. I would be grateful if you could kindly set up the NPPS programme if the above is in order. Thank you. QEnigma (talk) 11:09, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
QEnigma, I have set up the program for you. Pls book mark the program page on your computer for ease to find. Pls read the "communication section" at the very bottom of the assignment prior start answering the questions. When you have finished the assignment, ping me at the "communication section". Welcome to NPPS. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 22:05, 13 November 2024 (UTC)
@Cassiopeia: Thank you for setting up the programme. As I did not receive an alert for the new page, I checked your contributions history and was able to access this page – User:Cassiopeia/NPPS/QEnigma. I assume this is the correct training page, although it appears to be addressed to another editor. I would be grateful if you could kindly confirm. QEnigma (talk) 00:37, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
QEnigma, Yes, that is the program page. Sorry that I paste the wrong editor name. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 00:42, 14 November 2024 (UTC)

Question from Merychippus (17:59, 21 November 2024)

Hello. You are my assigned Wikipedia mentor. I've been working on a draft of a short article — would you be able to give some feedback? --Merychippus (talk) 17:59, 21 November 2024 (UTC)

Merychippus Good day and thank you for the question. I believeTHIS is your article which you are working on. First of all, pls note that for a subject to have a page in Wikipedia, the subject needs to pass Wikipedia WP:GNG criteria which means the subject needs to have significant coverage by independent, reliable sources where by the subject is talked about in depth and in length and not merely passing mentioned for verification. Pls read Help:Your first article to understand in more detail on how to write an article and also pls transfer your content to "Draft" space instead of your sub page - see Wikipedia:Drafts. To add inline citation - pls see Template:Cite web and Template:Cite book for sources from the web and books respectively. (note you need to provide the page number for books source). Your source here-1 is just the info of the book which does not support the content of your draft article and your second source - here-2 is only partially state the poem (primary source) - we need secondary reliable source for such both can not be used to contribute to the notability guidelines. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 20:29, 22 November 2024 (UTC)

Question from Lazybuffalo on International School of Brussels (17:45, 22 November 2024)

Hello, If an organisation has been flagged for containing promotional content, and the details of the organisation added in the article are detailed and mirror what a brochure might say, outweighing comparable pages in the level of such details, how might I proceed? --Lazybuffalo (talk) 17:45, 22 November 2024 (UTC)

Lazybuffalo Good day. Pls provide the article name in the Wikipedia and pls state which paragraph that the content is promotional and in violation of copyright for me to help you. Cassiopeia talk 20:32, 22 November 2024 (UTC)

Question from Alexoguta on Draft:Senator Kenneth Chukwuemeka Eze (05:20, 27 November 2024)

How do I create a reference? --Alexoguta (talk) 05:20, 27 November 2024 (UTC)

Alexoguta Good day. Before adding a reference you need to make sure the subject meets Wikipedia notability guidelines which means the subject needs to have signification coverage by independent, reliable sources whereby the sources talk about the subject in depth and in length for verification. I suggest you to read WP:Your first article. To add a inline citation (reference), you can use the horizontal format of Template:Cite we and WP:Cite book if the source is from the web or book respectively. Stay safe and best. Help me

Could you please help me, and teach me how to fight against vandalism. MersmanD (talk) 21:19, 27 November 2024 (UTC)

At the moment you have only 98 - see HERE-1 and secondly the editor needs to be lifted from user account block for 6 months. You have 2 username blocks - see HERE- 2 (understand you didnt know about the Wikipedia guidelines when you started editing). Please come back next year on March 14, 2025 and I will set up the program for you. I am happy that you took TWA program and believe you have already gain some fundamental Wikipedia guidelines. Pop back here if you have any questions or need assistance for I am here to help. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 06:45, 30 November 2024 (UTC)

Question from Ibtissam73 (10:46, 28 November 2024)

Bonjour comment éditer une citation --Ibtissam73 (talk) 10:46, 28 November 2024 (UTC)

Ibtissam73 Good day. To add a citation, you can use the "horizontal format" of Template:Cite web or Template:Cite Book if the source is from the web or book respectively. By the way, this is English Wikipedia, so all content added/changed need to be written in English. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 01:10, 30 November 2024 (UTC)

Question from Merychippus (08:25, 30 November 2024)

Hello. Thank you for your response to my earlier request. I have moved the in-progress page to draft space here: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Draft:The_Names_of_a_Hare (please let me know if I made any mistake with that)

As for your comments about notability, I want to point out the citation I included to the 1935 article by Alan Ross, which contains extensive discussion of the language used in the poem. I did find a copy online, but as it was a scanned copy on someone's personal web site, I guessed that it wouldn't be appropriate to link directly to that. Do you agree? In any case I was able to confirm the contents by requesting a copy from my local library.

Similarly, I found a second scholarly article responding to the 1935 one and disputing a few points of textual interpretation, but without including some very specific etymologies in the draft article itself, I didn't see a good way to cite it. Do you think there's any value in adding it as an additional reference just to provide further reading? --Merychippus (talk) 08:25, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
