Just as you asked, i hope we can ressolve this matter.
Question.
[edit]Is it wikipedia policy to block people who make constructive edits? How many times are you going to attempt to block me and fail? When are you going to understand no matter what, I will be able to edit wikipedia? Is this all making sense to you? Please, block me again, and see how long it takes for me to come back here and say "Nah nah nah nah nah, you can't block me, nah nah nah." :) 75.41.212.224 22:19, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Hockey North
[edit]Hello. Can you tell me any info about Hockey North or Hockey Nunavut? Or the 3 "Junior C" class teams that are eligible for the Maritime-Hockey North Junior C Championships (Kivalliq Canucks, Team Baffin... I can only think of two)? Info on that hockey scene is hard to find. DMighton 03:05, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
- I found the blog for the Baffin Jr. C coach and he said in his blog that there was a team from Rankin (Kivalliq) and Cambridge Bay... I take these teams are zone and/or select teams and only come together for the regional tourney. Here is his blog: http://livingincapedorset.blogspot.com/ -- It seems he wasn't happy with the organization of the event. They beat the Cambridge Bay-based team and got smoked by Kivalliq. "the 1985" deletion
[edit]I submitted a very brief description of "the 1985" (band), because they were a group I was fond of in their existence, and I noticed their name is linked (to no description) in about 3 or 4 different articles.
Yet, my description was deleted because they were "non notable." If this is the case, perhaps you should remove the links in other articles. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tremblehand (talk • contribs) 17:43, 2 April 2007 (UTC).
Sorry, but ...
[edit]Sorry, but the LOVE-chan .. i think in time it will porbably grow and get relatively large. It would overwelm the Ai Otsuka article (pretty much ,now it wouldf end up being nearly half the article) and it would unbalance it. LOVE-chan should have her own article ...
I'm obviously talknig about the LOVE-CHAN article.
And sorry; i have already reverted the article to a previous; previous form. I am consulting you now though ...
Why did you delete the internetz cats article? I was working on it, documenting the internet phenomenon. Just because you might not think something is relevant doesn't mean it shouldn't be documented. Maybe next time I will try to do a full complete page all at once, it's not really that easy though.

Re: Akisha Samia
[edit]In that case, could you procedurally list the article at AFD, since you removed the prod tag and the anon couldn't make the page? I currently don't have time at the moment to do so myself. --Coredesat 04:21, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
Hi, this is the anon who placed the latest tag on the "Akisha Samia" entry. Sorry, I wasn't aware that it had been previously tagged and I didn't have the time to go through the proper procedure. I assume I need to register with Wikipedia to list the article at AFD? Thanks for informing me of my error and also for making a proper AFD listing for this entry. I hate to rain on someone's effort at creative writing, but there's no place for something like that on a site dedicated to useful, relevent information. Okay, I'm done babbling. Thanks again.74.12.134.225 08:13, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit]I'm sorry, where is your reference as to whether Jason Tam is not an attorney or civil rights activist? I would appreciate it if you would not delete that entry because its improper to assume. The entry was updated since December and only recently been deleted. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Matnosaj (talk • contribs) 15:14, 4 April 2007 (UTC).
Frankly...
[edit]Just because there are no internet references (non-internet references can be cited), there is no reason your arrogance should delete a person from a notable person list. Jason Tam is an accomplished attorney and is an active Asian American attorney. Steve Barakatt deletion
[edit]You recently speedied the Steve Barakatt (it had been speedy three time before) in spite of my {{holdon}}, and the article is up again. I'm a little confused why claims of notability weren't discussed given the holdon and talk page edits. Anyway, an anon brought the article back. I'm not sure if its the same anon, as the article was deleted, so there is no edit history, but if you still think it should be deleted, perhaps putting it through AfD would be more fair. That way if the consensus is to delete, it can be protected from immediate recreation... Best, Smmurphy(Talk) 16:05, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
I'm glad...
[edit]that you have decided to get others to delete my entries. I can't believe you are so arrogant and racist that you would delete information regarding a successful Asian minority and his hometown. Very childish and immature.

[edit]THANKS A BUNCH HOLMES! I was waiting for a mamacita-editor to ask me that! Then I could have answered the question hésé.... :Y But to answer your question, the Association of the Mamacitas of Rama's Arrow (RAISSEXY - ya I know, but they insist on using this acronym) is my reliable source for this. However, this may not conform to a neutral point of view and may be a conflict of interest as it does not include former mamacitas, one-night-stands, pretty sisters and best friends of former mamacitas... The latter group may prefer it if this were not a case of a biography of a "living" person, but that's their POV... Back to the point, my instinct is to report you at WP:PAIN, but I'm not a vindictive guy. RAISSEXY might choose to pursue this matter, however and I can't speak for them... List of symbols
[edit]However we aren't comparing nations, we are comparing Statoids. And ones on the same continent too. If there was a list of Australian state symbols or list of French region symbols we'd link to that too. There is no common cat for Can Prov symbols and US state symbols but clearly they represent a related phenomenon. Kevlar67 03:34, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
- Quite agree there should be a centralized page for sub-national symbols. But until there is, a web of links will have to do. Kevlar67 03:21, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
Vancouver Harbour Water Aerodrome
[edit]I'm afraid this isn't my area of expertise or a usual topic I edit so forgive me. My main fault with the article was the fact that the coordinates landed within the water. Would 49" 16' 26.44 N 123" 07' 08.90 W the location of the dock or 49" 17' 09.54 N 123" 06' 45.95 W the 200 Granville Street location of the control tower be more appropriate? RichMac (Talk) 06:03, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
- An hour to reply on wikipedia is pretty good, I've waited days to weeks for updates. Anyway the 49° 17' 26.44" N 123° 07' 08.90" W for the dock and 49°17' 09.54" N 123°06' 45.95" W is formatted better for Google Earths liking. Put down a 16 instead of 17 on the first one. Don't know where aerodrome coordinates are usually pointed, so I'll leave it in your hands. Thanks. RichMac (Talk) 07:07, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

James Arreak
[edit]Hi,
I was going through adding some biography's to mid 70's NWT MLAs, and I noticed that someone named James Arreak was elected to the Legislative Assembly for Baffin Central in 1979. I am wondering if this is the same James Arreak currently in the Nunavut assembly, the thing that makes me confused is the article lists a 1968 birth date I can't find confirmation of. If this was the same James Areeak that would mean he was elected at 11 years old and became mayor of Clyde River at 14 years old such as the article states which i doubt. Do you have anyway of finding out if there is 1 or 2 Jame's Areeak's? --Cloveious 00:33, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
MLB Records
[edit]I'm sorry, I mis-read your changes somehow. I see you reverted back to your first version, and that seems fine. Be aware, meanwhile, that some guy named Ron Liebman, along with various IP addresses, keep attempting to push this idea that hitters' streaks should not be considered to be interrupted by military service. That is strictly his/their opinion, it has no bearing on MLB's rules and certainly no place in wikipedia. It could be true for a personal streak, but not for MLB overall, which did not shut down operations during WWII. Just letting you know about this ongoing hassle (also with birthdates, such as Christy Mathewson) in case you get entangled in it. d:) Wahkeenah 21:30, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, I had attempted a revert to your first version, but my changes did not appear, which means your second version exactly matched your first version. Perfect. Meanwhile, if you look at User:Ron liebman's "contributions", you'll see that he's messing around with a lot of date-related stuff, all of it based on information he allegedly found in hard-to-reach sources. That is against wiki rules, and I've already asked an admin about it. The guy might be right, but he's not providing any verifiable documentation, and his stuff about the streaks casts a shadow of doubt over all of his edits. So far I've only reverted Mathewson and Casey Stengel, but he's done a lot more of them, and refuses to respond to questions to him, which also casts doubt on his worthiness as an editor. infobox again
[edit]I'd like to avoid an edit war on this, so do you think you could step in before it starts up again? As you may recall, less than 3 weeks ago we discussed this and 4 editors agreed on the header - one editor who hadn't participated in that discussion is objecting now, but instead of waiting for discussion went in and made the change according to his preference. I think it should be reverted and discussed, and let's see if the thinking of the editors has changed in the last 3 weeks or if others weigh in, and go with consensus. I thought a neutral admin might be a better person to say so, as I was involved in the last discussion. Thanks Tvoz |talk 00:27, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

About Film categorization
[edit]Please, see the discussion in Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Films/Categorization. I have spent most of the day today repairing the Category:Canadian films. It is our Canadian film index and we need it to include all films. The same is done for all country films. Please discuss. Hoverfish Talk 22:26, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
This thing about reducing categories is only one way of looking at things. My understanding so far is that it is true in some cases whereas in others it is good to keep all inclusive categories. It has even been very seriously proposed that all films are attributed Category:Films, which (category) I have personally worked to reduce to a minimum. For the time being, WP Films consensus has rejected this mega-category proposal. I have worked in several gigantic film lists and list series and I find it most important to have all inclusive categories by country (which is the way things were being organized in films before I joined Wikipedia). Trying to create a list for it would be extremely shaky and already we get the argument "That's what categories are for". So we do lists for where intersections may get too diverse and we try to make them as informative as possible, as the AfD's are coming from all directions lately. Even if you don't agree, I hope you see there are serious problems behind all this and we are doing what we can to combine categories, lists and navigation templates to meet the needs. There is also progress being done in software that enables a fast listing of any category intersection. Well, this is not yet, but the moment it is applied, a lot will change in the categorization logic. Hoverfish Talk 23:04, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
Well, have you seen Lists of films#By letter & number? It took us a very very long time to it set up. As for keeping it updated... Now to do the same for all countries and to keep such a mega series of lists proprely updated and maintained... We would need to create multiple task forces only for this. And film gnomes don't usually stay too long on one line (in my experience). We are just in the middle of creating the Lists of films#By region and country of origin, which is by country arranged by decades and years. If it looks simple simple from the outside, I can reassure you it's not as easy when you are trying to coordinate it and work for it from the inside. I will consider your suggestion however. Being in the middle of all this work shouldn't make one blind to new ideas. Hoverfish Talk 23:22, 9 April 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I have tried to get AWB but my system has a glitch and doesn't download it (though I've been approved). So until I reinstall Windows... This new software development, when it gets ready, will do this for everyone, without the need of special browsers, plus much more. Let's hope they get it ready soon. It will save us plenty of work. Late here now (UTC+2). I'll be glad to discuss things further in the next occasion. Cheers! Hoverfish Talk 23:31, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Sorry to bug you about this but you were the first admin involved in this. I did a RFC on the city issue on Halifax, Nova Scotia. I have tried direct contact, I have tried pubic dialog, I have suggest compromises that are closer to the truth than we have now, but not what I would like to see. Lonewolf BC just doesn't care. What do I do now? He just broke the 3RR again on the Halifax, NS page, there are at least four users who he has reverted the same edit on. Who do I complaint to, what do I do? Abdalqadir as-Sufi
[edit]Hi
Thanks for you clean up on the above mentioned article. However, just to let you know that it should really be be Shaykh Muhammad ibn al-Habib and not sidi Muhammad.
Could you also please tell me how we could further improve this article to improve the rating? I am new to this and your advice would be appreciated.
ciao JoeSanchez 12:33, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
Hi
Thanks for all your input, it is greatly appreciated.
The title Shaykh/Sheihk has a variety of meanings and connotations within the Arabic language and the Islamic realm. It is correct that the Shaykh of Tarbiyah is linked to the Shaykh of Sufism article because this is linked to the Islamic science of Tassawuf, which is the science, of the striving of the self to attain knowledge of god. This endeavour is usually pursued under the guidance of a Shaykh. In lay terms the title Sheihk, when referring to an Islamic scholar refers to someone qualified in some of the other sciences, such as Fiqh (Jurisprudence), Hadith (Traditions) and so forth. Shaykh ibn al-Habib was firstly a scholar or fiqh and latter become a Shaykh of Instruction. After which he guided many people on the path or tariqah.
It is strange how you read something often and then still miss things, I thought I mentioned that he was conferred his Doctorate by the University of Malaysia in 2000. Will update soon.
ciao thanks again for all your help Joe

Links to vermontmushrooms.com database (Lingzhi, Maitake, and Cordyceps)
[edit]Hi, I am writing to clarify the purpose behind my adding a link to the independent database on the medicinal research done on Lingzhi, Maitake, Shiitake, and Cordyceps. I want as many people as possible to learn about the many potential health benefits traditional medicinal mushrooms have to offer. I acknowledge that I am deeply passionate about medicinal mushrooms, which is why I started my business in the first place, and hope a person visiting my site takes the time to check out the various pages on my site, in doing so they may decide to buy products I sell online. However, the link I have been adding to relevant pages is to a section of my site that is 100% independent research which has been researched and organized by The Alternative Medicine Foundation (http://www.amfoundation.org/) which maintains a database on numerous herbs with well researched scientific value. Their database charges a fee for access which helps support their ongoing work to keep the information presented up to date (and impartial) but I wanted to increase the availability of this information to the public while also helping to market my business and lease the right to display those specific independently maintained database files on my site which are presented on my site directly from their database.
If you have any further questions about my replacing the links on my site please contact me to discuss your reasons for objecting to my link (and just so you know, the link I placed to Aloha Medicinals website was based on my positive professional experiences with them and have no financial benefit from people visiting their site).

medical evacuation
[edit]Medevac point taken - I should have checked more carefully. With regard to Air Nunavut, which you didn't mention, but I assume you are referring to, Flight International (27 March 2007) quotes: 3 King Air 200, 1 Dassault Falcon 10 and 1 Dassault Falcon 100. I didn't change the fleet entry as I assumed the current reference to be official and more accurate. With regard to First Air, Flight International (3 April 2007) quote: 7 ATR 42-300, 3 BAe 748 Series 2A, 2 Boeing 727-200F, 2 Boeing 737-200, 3 Boeing 737-200C and 2 L-100-30 Hercules. Hope this is useful. Ardfern 06:57, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

Hamilton Airport - Ground Transportation
[edit]I have recevied a message from Hishuttle - note the username, and there is no user or talk pages - regarding my reversion of his re-addition of web links to Ground Transportation, including a firm called hishuttle.
Have a look as the entry on my talk page. I have a very uneasy feeling about this as I feel there is an attempt to use Wikipedia for advertising.
My feeling looking at other airports - Glasgow International Airport, London Heathrow Airport, O'Hare International Airport have no mention about ground transportation; Toronto Pearson International Airport mentions ground transportation, with a section giving details including Blue22.
I would like to think my fears are unfounded, and would value your opinion. --Stewart 17:53, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Question from Iceflow
[edit]Hi CambridgeBayWeather. I was wondering whether I could ask for your assistance, I was speaking on IRC today with a user called Karynn, who was discussing things which have been passed on through the OTRS, as complaints or issues about editing. She has informed me that my name is "Familiar" to her, in her words, and that she recalls me having a "black mark" against me. I have never been formally warned for anything on Wikipedia, so I am mystified at to how I got this "black mark" and I need to find out.
As this is dealt with by the administration, I would assume, I need to ask for assistance from an admin to get help. I want to find out what I was black marked for, and why.
I am currently known as Iceflow, previously as Tmalmjursson, and have been editing Wikipedia since September 2004.

Yeah, sometimes the prod tags don't subst quite correctly. I'm sure I had a reason. Anyway, I probably did it because he appears to be non-notable, but I didn't want to prejudice against recreation, as nominating this type of person for AFD usually only gets a few comments anyway, and those comments are equally as uninformed as I am. Besides, after AFD, recreation is prohibited. Thus a prod works just as well, IMHO. So, if I get your permission, I might just go ahead and re-prod it. Part Deux 17:21, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Comments
[edit]Please find references for the Alan Cadby edits you made:
There is no record in Hansard (www.parliament.wa.gov.au) or the media of Mr Cadby speaking on the one-vote-one-value legislation before he lost preselection. The legislation that Mr Cadby supported created what is known as dummy voters in the far north of WA. These dummy voters have the effect of creating a gerrymander in regional WA. There are numerous references to these dummy voters creating a rural gerrymander in Hansard and the Western Australian media.
The Labor government's own media statement of 30th March 2005 also states that the north of WA will be exempt from provisions in the one vote one value legislation ie the legislation Mr Vadby supported kept a rural gerrymander in some parts of WA: 'Mr McGinty said that the legislation would protect the five existing seats in the Mining and Pastoral Region...' [ie in these areas the rural gerrymander will remain]
The facts can be verified at www.parliament.wa.gov.au and search using 'one vote one value AND cadby' and then 'one vote one value AND dummy'.
Also, there are numerous references in Hansard to the Liberal Party policy of allowing its MPs to cross the floor. This means the statement 'Cadby had been bound to oppose the legislation as a member of the Liberal Party' to be a false and flawed statement. It is only ALP members who must abide by caucaus decisions.
Other references highlighting Liberal MPs have the right to cross the floor and vote against their Party: http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200610/s1755780.htm http://www.abc.net.au/pm/content/2006/s1711010.htm http://www.theage.com.au/news/national/downer-backs-mps-right-to-cross-the-floor/2005/08/15/1123957991790.html
There are also numerous State Liberal MPs who have exercised their right to cross the floor including Ross Lightfoot (over milk deregulation and Sue Walker (over the closing of a palliative care centre in her electorate). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 124.178.113.186 (talk • contribs) 10:53, 25 April 2007.
Archive of Post-Ambient talk at Ambient?
[edit]You deleted Post-Ambient with the following edit summary "08:02, 24 April 2007 CambridgeBayWeather (Talk | contribs) deleted "Post-Ambient" (PRod:No references or sources... No real content... not notable... no consensus to keep...)".
I have no significant disagreement with your summary. One user wanted to do research for sources, as he said the Post-Ambient concept was under discussion within the related music community. He can still do that research while the article is deleted. However, I think it's useful to archive that article's talk page whether or not the article or concept gets revived.
As an admin I think you have acccess to the deleted material. I suggest that the Post-Ambient talk page should be archived as a subpage at Ambient, and I would (boldly) do this if I had access. (Please reply here if desired) Milo 16:10, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit]I am the one who put the page online, I can understand why the page was removed on the grounds that it was unsourced. I should have followed the link on the bottom of the page and seen if there was more information on him, or at the very least linked to IMDB. I did think that being the last contestant voted off before 9/11 would carry some notability, but it didn't. I guess no one remembers it as much as the first one voted off after that (can't remember the name right now).

Universal Life Church members
[edit]I find it odd that you would go out of your way to remove those categories instead of just putting in the citation. There's a lot of them, and I am just one person, I haven't had time to go through each of them, and add the citation, which is why the summary tag was easier. As for George Harrison, I don't know, I didn't create the category. --GreenJoe 15:30, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
- The citations are in the edit history. That's how I am doing them. I had put them sources in the edit summary. As for Google, some of them it was relatively easy. I searched with "Person's name"+"Universal Life Church". I got fairly accurate results fairly quick. For some I didn't find anything, and didn't revert them. Anyway, I'm working on them now. --GreenJoe 15:46, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
- They should all be cited now, and any that aren't, not in the list. I added the category to articles that were missing it. GreenJoe 16:10, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
I have just removed these links. Even though they may appear in the lists of the Universal Life Church I believe they are still spam. There is no indication that any member of the Beatles studied or even expressed a desire to be a member, but that it was simply bestowed upon them. It cannot be proven that the individual is aware that they are members, or that they would agree if they did. Since there is no reason why any group or organisation can not make any person an honorary member, it is a spurious title and there is no reason to link to any of them. I am copying this to GreenJoe's talkpage. LessHeard vanU 18:52, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
- Have you been following the discussion on GreenJoe and my talkpages? Would the suggestion I made re the ULC and Beatles connection (i.e. through an "example" source expanded on the talkpage) be okay? LessHeard vanU 00:11, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
- I think the marginal notability of ULC as regards the Beatles is that an independant source, the University newspaper GreenJoe cited, notes the individual members as being ordained ministers. It seems that while the ULC advertises the fact it has appeared in a third party source. All in all, I think The Beatles' miscellanea would be the ideal place for this minor fact to reside. LessHeard vanU 09:22, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
- (cough) I was editing up to 2.00am last night and, by knowledge gained by clicking a link or two on your user page, I am going to appeal to your status as a co-1950's child to forgive my missing the point cos I have only had six and a bit hours sleep... Right, start again.
- Since there is a marginal notability of ULC as regards the Beatles, if GreenJoe were to use the independent source in the ULC article that he cited when editing the individual Beatles he would then be able to link to The Beatles' miscellanea. It keeps the trivia out of the ULC page and puts it in a better context in Beatle project space. Would you be happy with this proposal? LessHeard vanU 09:39, 29 April 2007 (UTC)

I've added a reference for the standardized rain gauge used in India over 2,000 years ago. I didn't change the edit where you said the Korean one was the first, but considering there is a standardized one set up in an official state trade document for tax purposes, it seems to definitely fit the definition of a rain gauge (clearly it would be a "device used to measure the amount of rain that falls in a location").
Rather than revert what you had reverted, I figured it might be worthwhile to leave you a note and ask what you thought. (Right now it looks kind of bad to see these two sentences in a row: "Each of the state storehouses were equipped with a standardised rain gauge to classify land for taxation purposes. In 1441 A.D., Jang Yeong Sil, a Korean scientist, invented the worlds first standardised rain gauge.") Komdori 12:54, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
- I saw your recent revision; nicely done, I think. Komdori 13:17, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your note on my talk page; I had been completely oblivious to the Indian/Korean edit war before (I'll be careful if I happen to see Korean/Indian discussions on another page). Anyway, the way it is now allows people to have access to both ideas. Komdori 13:26, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
