[edit]Please take another look at Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2007 July 5
[edit]Hi,
You asked for new sources, I delivered new sources. I've redone the Goetz school article on my user pages and made some other comments at the bottom of the deletion-review discussion. I'm asking editors to comment on the changes I've made because they represent a new development, one I think we can form a pretty wide consensus around. I think the article as I've redone it meets the objections of many editors, and it certainly meets WP:V. Please take a look, but I think this deletion review will close today or early tomorrow, so please don't delay, act now and take advantage of this limited-time offer! WikiProject Guitarists newsletter
[edit]
The WikiProject Guitarists Newsletter | |
Hey everyone! It's been quite a while since the last newsletter went out but it's time to tune up those guitars, set the amps to 11, and rock out a bit. Or for us old guys, put on the fingerpicks and set the amp to 3. A lot of people have been laboring away at guitar articles and their efforts are to be applauded. If you haven't edited in a while, why not pick an article from Category:Stub-Class guitarist articles and expand it? Or better yet, pick one from the article requests and create it. More tasks can be found on the main project page in the WikiProject Guitarists open tasks box. I went through the member list and moved anyone who hasn't edited a guitar article in two months to the inactive section. If you're getting this newsletter, it means you are still in the active list. [edit]Thanks for the advice I will add [[:Category:(Nationality) heavy metal musical groups to all of the categories. Would Australian black metal musical groups be the appropriate name for this category if so (or whatever the proper name me be), is it possible to list all the categories together for a speedy category rename? Sanjaya Malakar
[edit]Xtifr, I appreciate your comments at the Sanjaya Malakar battleground. Things appear to be coming a little more civil and though the article has been reverted to its original extensive length, I've adopted a more cautious approach of discussing changes before making them. This hasn't stopped the sarcasm, of course, and interestingly your own comments have now been edited. But thanks again. Grimhim 21:55, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

A question...
[edit]You were the only person, beyond the nominator, who commented on the {{tfd}} for Template:AfghanRefugeeCamp. The justification you offered was that no one had commendted on the discussion for more than seven days.
I'd like you to know that User:Circeus, the nominator, did not choose to comply with the recommendation in WP:TFD that nominators advise the creator, or biggest contributor. I didn't learn of the discussion until I saw that the template was being deleted from a bunch of articles on my watchlist. I certainly would have spoken for the template, if the nominator had complied with the policy's recommendations. Can I ask if this was the only reason you endorsed deletion?
Cheers! Geo Swan 07:03, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Adminship?
[edit]Hi Xtifr - I've noticed you doing good work around the place and making sensible comments in deletion discussions - especially RfD. Your contribs show you have a pretty good understanding of this place's policies and processes, I was wondering if you might be interested in serving as an administrator? If you are, I would be very willing to nominate you. WjBscribe 11:11, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
- Oh well, never mind. For what its worth FA is far from a criterion for adminship (I've never written one...) and your edits to The Radiators (US) show you know how to write content. I think you'd pass but if you'd rather not I understand. The offer stands - feel free to get in touch if you change your mind at a later date. WjBscribe 12:06, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I know that. But my mistake was not clarifying that I was referring to CamelCase redirects, to which I think my argument applies. I've responded to your comments in the RFD debate. But in any case, thanks for the heads up. - Mtmelendez (Talk|UB|Home) 00:41, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
- Seeing as you resolved the issue in the Vhost redirect discussion, I think it's best if you go ahead and close the discussion, per this. I see no main problems with that. - Mtmelendez (Talk|UB|Home) 02:07, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

The newsletter is back! Many things have gone on during the past few months, but many things have not. While the assessment drive helped revitalize the assessment department of the project, many other departments have received no attention. Most notably: peer review and our "workgroups". A day long IRC meeting has been planned for October 13th, with the major focus being which areas of the project are "dead", what should our goals be as a project, and how to "revive" the dead areas of our project. Contribute to the discussion on the the new channel (see below) We decided to deliver this newsletter to all project members this month but only those with their names down here will get it delivered in the future. This is your newsletter and you can be involved in the creation of the next issue. Any and all contributions are welcome. Simply let yourself be known to any of the undersigned or post news on the next issue's talk page
Lastly, a new WikiProject Biography channel has been set up on the freenode network: Our thanks to Phoenix 15 for setting it up.

You are now a Reviewer
[edit]Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:45, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Disambiguation link fixing one-day contest
[edit]I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the November 2013 monthly disambiguation contest, on Saturday, November 23 (UTC). I will personally give a $20 Amazon.com gift card to the disambiguator who fixes the most links on that server-day (see the project page for details on scoring points). Since we are not geared up to do an automated count for that day, at 00:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC) (which is 7:00 PM on November 22, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the project page leaderboard. I will presume that anyone who is not already listed on the leaderboard has precisely nine edits. At 01:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC) (8:00 PM on November 23, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the leaderboard at that time (the extra hour is to give the board time to update), and I will determine from that who our winner is. I will credit links fixed by turning a WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the Daily Disambig, we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed. If everyone in the disambiguation link fixers category were to fix 500 links, we would have them all done - so aim high! Cheers! bd2412 T 02:21, 18 November 2013 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:NO Radiators band cropped.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:NO Radiators band cropped.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. Romney Lyle Pearce redux
[edit]Back in 2006, you voted to delete the entry for Romney Lyle Pearce. Unfortunately, you thought the item was a hoax. [1] Since the original editor who deleted the listing is no longer active, I was hoping you could help me get the ball rolling again. The interweb is gathering older information, so a recent search for additional articles, proof of life, proof of story are beginning to show up online.
There are several errors in the arguments to delete, including Charlene's argument that the article "Autobiography of a Father" was written by his son. It's an AUTObiography written by Pearce. It is not cited online because the article wasn't published online; it was written before the internet. I have a copy here in my hot little hands. Further, since this 2006 attempt at creating the page, arguments against his presence in pre-internet news media listing has become a weak argument as he is now mentioned in several locations on the internet including: [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] Other websites found his autobiography and found it useful as a source of information apparently not available anywhere else at the time, particularly the information about song pluggers. Sites include: [8] [9] Thanks for your reconsideration. Further, the Chuck White Orchestra is beginning to emerge in media being scanned to the interweb and references to it may be found here: [10] [11] [12] JABPP (talk) 12:13, 30 January 2016 (UTC)JAPBBJABPP (talk) 12:13, 30 January 2016 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Dave Ray
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Dave Ray requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. MB 00:00, 17 February 2019 (UTC)
