DYK for List of number-one adult contemporary singles of 2008 (U.S.)
On 14 October 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article List of number-one adult contemporary singles of 2008 (U.S.), which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that "Bleeding Love", a song performed by Leona Lewis, is her first and only song to reach number one on the US Billboard Adult Contemporary chart? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/List of number-one adult contemporary singles of 2008 (U.S.). You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and it will be added to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

FLC question
At the first FLC you nommed, an additional batch of comments has recently been added. Since the exemption allowing a second FLC nom calls for all substantial comments to be responded to as well, those should be done before a second nom is put up. Once that is done, consider my discretion given. Giants2008 (Talk) 00:20, 19 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of songs recorded by Lady Gaga, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page PokerFace (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Andrew
I saw in the revision history of Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of songs recorded by Alexandra Burke/archive1 that you named me Andrew-- which is the first name of User:Adabow, there is no correlation between me and that user except that I named my account after him because I respected/ admired his work and couldn't come up with a account name myself. My name isn't Andrew and my account isn't a sec. Just felt like clearing that up. Regards AdabowtheSecond (talk) 14:00, 20 October 2012 (UTC)

Hey, seeing as you regularly edit articles relating to Rihanna, I was wondering if you would interesting in helping out at the FLRC of Rihanna discography. Its been there for a while and now has responded to comments I left. Would be a shame to see it delisted if they aren't addressed, so thought you might be interested in saving it, otherwise it more than likely will get delisted. Cheers NapHit (talk) 20:43, 23 October 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah I'm interested in doing that. AARON• TALK 11:28, 24 October 2012 (UTC)

Gaga Unreleased
If every other artist has an unreleased section on their "List of songs recorded...", why do you think Gaga shouldn't?--TV (talk) 17:50, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- Because not every other does. AARON• TALK 17:53, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- List of songs recorded by Rihanna, List of songs recorded by Kelly Clarkson, List of songs recorded by Jennifer Lopez list ASCAP/BMI as sources. This list will too.--TV (talk) 17:57, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- I made the Rihanna one an FL. Also Leona's. Rihanna's has a table for other songs. Fact is, your table is awful. You don't need to say if it was performed live blah blah and all these notes saying "Logged with BMI" or "Performed on The Fame Ball Tour" etc. I've been editing the list for FLC, so it will be changed. AARON• TALK 18:00, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- If you don't like the format - fix it. Be grateful someone gathered the info. --TV (talk) 18:05, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- It should have its own article! There are most unreleased songs than released! And that's not the point of the article! And I did try fixing it, but you reverted me. AARON• TALK 18:06, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- Wikipedia will not allow it to have its own article as there's not enough independent articles to support it. You didn't fix it, you removed it and your summary made it seem like you were not editing it.--TV (talk) 18:08, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- What do you mean not enough independent articles to support it? You mean the songs don't have their own article. Yeah I did remove it, because most of it is completely irrelevant. You've clearly followed the Unreleased Britney Spears songs list. AARON• TALK 18:10, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- The reason there aren't more unreleased song lists are because Wikipedia will not allow them. You need independent sources such as EW, Huffington Post, etc. talking about the unreleased discography as a set. I followed the Britney Spears list because it's the only article acceptable. You just said you were fixing it and now you're changing your words. Please make up your mind.--TV (talk) 18:13, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- So if there aren't enough sources for them, what makes you think they should be in the list they are in now? Because any that are deemed unsourced or unreliably sourced will be removed. FLC will not allow it. You shouldn't make such large edits without consulting on the talk page first anyway. AARON• TALK 18:16, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- Can you stop this pointless argument? Britney Spears article contains ASCAP sources and so does your Rihanna list. You can't have a sandalone article of unreleased songs unless there has been enough independent coverage. Britney Spears has this and because she's Britney Spears. BMI/ASCAP is a reliable source for a SECTION, but not an entire article.--TV (talk) 18:22, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- Errrr it was you who said "The reason there aren't more unreleased song lists are because Wikipedia will not allow them. You need independent sources such as EW, Huffington Post, etc. talking about the unreleased discography as a set." which indicates that a lot of it is unsourced. AARON• TALK 21:49, 25 October 2012 (UTC)
- My first mention was an article so I thought you were able to understand when I said list. It's not unsourced. You just need independent sources in order for there to be an entire article dedicated to that specific item. TV | talk 22:16, 25 October 2012 (UTC)

- Finally, for achieving an incredible bonus point total in the final round, and for bringing the top-importance article frog to featured status, a biostar has been awarded to Cwmhiraeth (submissions).
Awards will be handed out in the coming days; please bear with us! This year's competition also saw fantastic contributions in all rounds, from newer Wikipedians contributing their first good or featured articles, right up to highly experienced Wikipedians chasing high scores and contributing to topics outside of their usual comfort zones. It would be impossible to name all of the participants who have achieved things to be proud of, but well done to all of you, and thanks! Wikipedia has certainly benefited from the work of this year's WikiCup participants.
Next year's WikiCup will begin in January. Currently, discussions and polls are open, and all contributions are welcome. You can also sign up for next year's competition. There will be no further newsletters this year, although brief notes may be sent out in December to remind everyone about the upcoming competition. It's been a pleasure to work with you all, and we hope to see you all in January! J Milburn (talk • email) and The ed17 (talk • email) 00:17, 1 November 2012 (UTC)

Re:
Hey Aaron. I actually truly apologize for that. To be completely honest, I totally forgot anyone had assisted in the article. I hope you realize this was a mistake and that I would never try and ignore your work on the matter. Just a quick comment though, I might have a low number of edits, but my contributions definitely hold the most weight by far, considering it was all done in my sandbox and I almost tripled its size. What would you like to do? Delete the nomination and re-submit with both our names? You handle the nom? You just take partial credit in the end? I'm open to any option that satisfies you. Again, sorry :)--CallMeNathan • Talk2Me 00:58, 14 November 2012 (UTC)
- Nathan, of you worked on the article, then you can say you imrpoved it to GA status. Your name does not need to appear at GAN, or at the talk page. What matters at the end is how you contributed to the article and it's final state. As an example, I did not nominate Un-Break My Heart for GA status but I helped a lot at sloving issues, and I include it on my list of GAs. — ΛΧΣ21™ 02:34, 14 November 2012 (UTC)
- I never said my overall contribution was worth more, but you can't deny that 87 edits is still a lot of work, considering I created the article and initially wrote it's original prose upon its release, which you expanded upon in your sandbox. I just want my name added to the nomination, that's all. You don't need to delete for that. It's just that you originally said about it being a joint nomination. (I've done it myself). - Nathan, calm down. All I did was point out that you said it would be a joint nomination. You first comment in this section and your second are like they were written by two different people. This has already escalated and there was no need for it. I point it out, you said sorry and you asked what I wanted done about it, I simply said I'd added my name and that I too contributed a lot and now you are saying I'm not being a good friend, that I should lighten up and that I have too much "sass". I'm sure you'd say it the other way round. I don't know what you think sass means, but in England sass means sensual in a sexual way. And I doubt you are calling me sensual! AARON• TALK 21:30, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

If this is not what your trying to emit, them I'm sorry but that's the way I feel. I always regarded you as a close friend here. And sass means just being like dismissive :P No sensuality I promise lol. And Jivesh, good to see your little beehive up and about. I tell you, if you disappear again I'mma have to snatch a wig ;)

Well if you want to do it together you are probably more familiar with the writers and would be better at structuring the lead because I don't know much about them. I can format the table. Cool. We can go over it nearer the time like how to format it etc. Perhaps if you look at List of songs recorded by Adele and click edit and have a look through you can get an idea of how to do it, like alphabetising songwriters by their first name and using a code to show them underneath each other etc. AARON• TALK 02:00, 17 November 2012 (UTC)

Just a piece of advice, didn't know how else to talk to all of you.
Till, Tomica, Status, you are involved with about 3 ANI's to do with varying issues, and are all having a go at each other and getting nowhere. I'd advise that you Till has no contact with Tomica and Status, and that Tomica and Status have no contact with Till. If none of you talk to each other, no harm can be done. Things are now being done out of spite and things are becoming personal, such as disputes over GA nominating, quick-failing, threats, editing warring, personal attacks and mass editing (my watchlist consists purely of your three lots of combined edits at the moment!). I've been in this situation before and the best way is to just ignore each other, give it time, and things become civil again. That's my advice to all thee of you, take it or leave it :-). I'm not taking sides for anyone, I'm just calling it as I see it. (Replies are welcome but please don't turn my talk page into something like an ANI discussion!). Well I definitely think reggae fusion is a suitable genre for the song. Why don't we just see if there's consensus to use it? Whatever318 (talk) 22:54, 24 November 2012 (UTC)

Hello, thank you for all your contributions! I make this message in good-faith. Please do not make hidden comments like this stating that an editor will be blocked if they remove a redirect. I am in no position to be asking this but I am saying this as it could turnaway new contributors (who aren't aware of the rules) feeling they have been bitten. In this case, I think a kind [user] talk page message would be more appropriate and effective. Also, you edit was reverted so I reverted it back to your version but also removed the block warning as it is not appropriate (no admin will/should block just because a user removed a redirect, specially if that hidden message was their only warning.) "Not constructive"? Are you joking? I removed masses of word-for-word repeated text. I got rid of some absolutley diabolical phrases (e.g. "production of the song was helmed by" - helmed by???) as well as lazy vocabulary so beloved of crap music writers ("garnered" for got or received, "debut" for first etc.) "Upon" means physically on top of, not at the time of. To describe my edits as vandlism I regard as insulting. This is an encyclopaedia and demands to be written in the highest standards of English, not as a throw out from the worst excesses of music journalism. I've reverted . Oh, just noticed you started the article. Emeraude (talk) 13:18, 29 November 2012 (UTC)
- You basically removed 3/4's of the lead, therefore it didn't cover all aspects of the article. so no, it was not constructive in the slightest. WP:LEAD AARON• TALK 13:20, 29 November 2012 (UTC)

AIV Request
Hi,
I removed your request for blocking at WP:AIV. The noticeboard in question is for blatant forms of vandalism. I would recommend discussion on the user's talk page to seeking mediation if you wish to resolve any concerns that you may have with the user. Icestorm815 • Talk 04:30, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
- If you would look at his talk page, you see that I have very much tried to say that. Also, I had handed out all levels of warnings to him because he was vandalising for all the reasons I said, so I don't understand why you have dismissed it?? You haven't even given him so much as a warning. AARON• TALK 12:01, 2 December 2012 (UTC)
- What I am saying is that the noticeboard is for cases of vandalism, such as inserting profanity, nonsense, mass deletions, etc. In this instance, the issue appears to be a case where there is a disagreement in the formatting of content. I feel that this would be better resolved through other avenues. Instead, I recommend discussion on the article talk pages to reach an understanding of what content is to be included on the article page. Should this be attempted and you or the other editor feels its unsuccessful, or if you feel that this has already been attempted and was unsuccessful, I would recommend a more formal mediation between you and the editor(s) in question, where you'll be able to have a neutral editor assist you with a resolution process. Hey Aaron. How are you doing? I hope you're well, you've certainly been busy with creating articles for both Unapologetic and Lotus, so great job on that! I just came across the above article, and was wondering, have you forgotten all about it? With all the recent AfDs for unreleased songs articles, I expect it to also be nominated at some point. I know your probably already super busy with other things (well, duh, of course you are), but just letting you know. Cheers. Statυs (talk) 23:31, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. Lovebird/Glassheart
Now this era has sunk in I am so disappointed with the whole album. It has real potential but it just feels like a jumbled mess. Trouble was an aweful first single and Collide is a mess that should have never happened. The cover/styling is off and Lovebird video is a hot mess. They pick the song with the worst lyrics to release as the album's second single. Since they're trying to salvage a mess they should have opted for the title song, at least it would have made a big impact headlines-wise if not on the charts. — Lil_℧niquℇ №1 [talk] 10:00, 6 December 2012 (UTC)
- Are you serious? I think it's one of her best videos. It's different to what's being done. And I think that the lyrics are some of the best as well, it's very consistent. "Glassheart" and "Come Alive" should be the next singles. AARON• TALK 14:26, 6 December 2012 (UTC)
- The video is pretty, i'm having slight second thoughts thinking about how harsh i was earlier. But seriously "Lovebird" are amongst the best? One of the lyrics from the song "dum-dum dee-dee" from one of the world's best singers. I don't think this will dent the charts in any country at all. They should have used "Glassheart" (the title song) to save the album! — Lil_℧niquℇ №1 [talk] 23:35, 6 December 2012 (UTC)
- It's the most stylistically creative one she has done IMO. I can imagine stills being in high end magazines. If you go through her videos one by one, she looks her best here. I really like it. Something tells me that the title track won't get released. They didn't release Outta My Head, and that was such an obvious choice, along with Can't Breathe. Definitely missed a few tricks there. "Break It Off"
Firstly reporting it as 'vandalism' is very extreme. Vandalism is not a term to use lightly here and is usually reserved for IP edits especially when someone is making nonsensical changes to an article. It is a minor edit to the genre of the song which is identified as a mixture of pop and dancehall. If you read what reggae fusion is (a mixture of reggae/dancehall with other genres), the song falls under the genre. http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Reggae_fusion
The song is essentially a dancehall song with pop elements. The beat/instrumental is a dancehall riddim called "high altitude". i live in Jamaica hence my vast knowledge on the area. The riddim had already existed when Rihanna used it as the instrumental for the song and is one of many songs which uses the riddim. http://www.soundquake.com/item/632865928812267548.html
Here's a reference to it being classified as reggae fusion http://www.timelinkz.com/songs.php?searchReq=Reggae+fusion
- None are reliable sources, and your opinion of what it is means nothing. Therefore, vandalism. Goodbye. AARON• TALK 00:16, 19 December 2012 (UTC)

Unfortunately having "trance beats" doesn't make a song trance. As per a discussion at Talk:What's_My_Name?_(Rihanna_song)#Genre_Revert, "beats" would be classified as one element of a song but the genre of the beats do not translate into the genre of the song. — Lil_℧niquℇ №1 [talk] 20:14, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
- But the beat makes up the instrumental. I think people need to be a bit more intuitive about reviews. Trance songs obviously have trance beats. AARON• TALK 21:25, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
- I argued that a "Ska-infused" beat made "What's My Name?" as Ska song but that got shot down quite verbally. Not a single shred of support on my side in that particular time. — Lil_℧niquℇ №1 [talk] 21:26, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
- I don't see why. Trance beats is clearly a trance song. Reviewers don't say "This is a trance song". Things needn't be taken so literally. AARON• TALK 21:30, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
- Apparently it means songs are styled in that genre but aren't necessarily a song of that genre. — Lil_℧niquℇ №1 [talk] 21:33, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
- It's so stupid. Basically saying that a song with trance beats is not of the trance genre. How people argued against this I don't know. AARON• TALK 21:40, 23 December 2012 (UTC)
- This is a case where I'd say the semantics got quibbled over. Unfortunately that seems to be the consensus from some pretty experienced editors. — Lil_℧niquℇ №1 [talk] 21:42, 23 December 2012 (UTC)

Creating Song Pages
Hi Calvin,
I hope you had a nice Christmas?
Just wondered why you went ahead and created a page with a redirect for every song on Glassheart? As far as I am aware this is not standard practise, and by doing this it means that an administrator has to get involved if someone else wants to create an article. For example if I was to create an article in a sandbox, I'd have to ask an administrator to delete the redirected page and then perform a WP:HISTMERGE to ensure that the edit history of the sandbox is preserved whilst ensuring that any content from the user sandbox is transferred over correctly. — Lil_℧niquℇ №1 [talk] 13:59, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
- Everyone does it. Instead of doing sandbox, just remove the redirect and work on it from there. That's what I do. I had also wanted to do an article for "Come Alive", but I see you have already done so. AARON• TALK 21:11, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
- Ah well its the first time I've come across it so I was like... eh?!? Nevermind, yeah I had some free time and I thought of the most notable of songs on the album, "Come Alive" would be the next best bet. It'd be nice to do pages for the other songs but I fear notability might run thin across the album's track listing. — Lil_℧niquℇ №1 [talk] 23:24, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
- Why have you added such incredibly large track lists to the info boxes?? It should be collapsed with the option to expand, like on "S&M". But as it was deleted previously deleted I would remove the one you added altogether. It's not needed with such few links and looks really bad. AARON• TALK 21:55, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
- Because it features in two forms on the track listing and TBH as there are no images for the article I don't see an issue with having the track listing in the infobox, thus extending the infobox. If you don't like it feel free to remove it from "Glassheart" (i was trying to be helpful by adding it) but really unless the GA Review brings up some editorial reason for having it removed I don't see the need to. What you perceive as looking bad, I consider useful information particularly showing how the song features twice in regular and accoustic form. — Lil_℧niquℇ №1 [talk] 23:34, 30 December 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, but you've basically recreated the deleted template but in a different form. Instead of a template, you've placed it all directly in each article. I'm a big fan of these templates, but with only 4 links to song articles I don't see the point of it at the moment. It's most effective when lots of the songs have articles. My point about it looking bad is that it is just so long, I actually found it distracting. And about the showing up twice in track listing, it's nothing the prose in the article doesn't cover. At least try to collapse it with the option to expand, it will make it far less imposing. AARON• TALK 09:00, 31 December 2012 (UTC)
