Hey, Ctjf83: [1] re [2] —Scheinwerfermann T·C08:05, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
Bay Bridge length
It isn't 4mi long? Let's work on that. West: 10,304 feet (3,141 m) + East: 10,176 feet (3,102 m) yields 20,480 feet (3.879 mi), no? Okay, 3.88mi long, then. :-) - Denimadept (talk) 19:54, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
- It's misleading and makes it sound like the bridge is 4 miles long, when in fact 2 spans are each 2 miles long. CTJF83 19:56, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
- The bridge as a whole is that long. Add in the tunnel segment, which was built for and is considered part of the bridge. - Denimadept (talk) 19:58, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
- I mean, if you want to be that way, there are a total of how many spans involved? 6 or so on the west side, and I dunno, maybe 20+ on the east (right now)? We don't consider them separately. - Denimadept (talk) 19:59, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
- It's confusing...the length to me should be the whole length from one side to the other of the bridge. Not one side down to the other and back on the other span. CTJF83 20:01, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
- I got it now!! LOL, I was confused...I thought it was saying the east bound span was X length and the west bound span was X length...not that there is an east span and a west span..got it! :) CTJF83 20:13, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
- Well, I'm glad we got that straightened out. :-D - Denimadept (talk) 20:27, 16 July 2011 (UTC)

Adopt
Hi, CTJF83,
I am new to Wikipedia and am seeking your help. I noticed that you were on the Adopt a User section and mention LGBT. After searching Wikipedia I found that there wasn't that much content on LGBT families in particular parenting and I thought I'd give this a shot. I recently tried creating an article but was unsuccessful. However, this isn't my first attempt at writing on Wikipedia. A couple of years ago I tried to submit articles without any success and eventually became so discouraged at the process and the harsh, critical feedback that I received that I simply gave up. Frankly, I'm finding the process overwhelming and I really don't want to give up this time around. I'm hoping for some constructive and positive assistance if that is at all possible.
The recent article I wrote was actually a short piece on a parenting magazine geared towards the LGBT community. I received feedback which stated that my Username was an issue. At the time I created the Username I had no idea that I made a mistake by creating the Username "Lgbtparents". But after reading further into Wikipedia about Usernames I completely understand why my Username was totally not appropriate and I have recently changed it. I also received feedback from someone else who said that my article sounded like an advertisement. Before I started writing I looked at other Wikipedia pages to see what style they were written in. I looked at Parents Magazine, The Advocate, Parenting Magazine and others. You should know that I was also in the advertising industry for probably too many years to mention here and I'm now wondering if that in fact has affected the tone of my writing.
My goal is to be neutral. In the process of my writing I also collected articles from news articles from newspapers around the country which I referenced. At this point I'm really not sure what to do. Would you be able to look at my work? The title is Gay Parents Magazine and it was under User Lgbtparents.
Thank you in advance,
Neboza 01:17, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

- I am the one who declined the article, and since it seems that the conversation has occurred mostly here, I will put my response here instead of on my talk page. I agree that the article does not contain an inordinate amount of advertising language. Perhaps it would have be better for me to decline it based on it not being particularly encyclopedic. Passages such as

- The magazine was founded by Angeline Acain who is the Publisher and Editor after it became clear to her that the growing number of LGBT families were desperate for resources.
- don't sound like they belong in an encyclopedia, but rather an essay. Additionally, you should break the text up with headers to bring it more in line with Wikipedia's manual of style. If you are able to address these issues, I will have no problem moving the article to the main space. Please know that sometimes we have to make subjective decisions over at AfC and we don't always get it right, especially on articles like this that are right on the edge of acceptability. A decline is in now way a referendum on you or your writing ability, only the quality of the article. I hope that clears things up, and I apologize for any confusion. Cheers! Hello CTJF83,
Thanks for contacting the user who declined my submission Gay Parents Magazine. Also, my appreciation to Topher385 for reviewing and making suggestions. I will review my text for anything that may sound like an essay. I will also get familiar with Wikipedia's manual of style as suggested and break up the headers. I did notice on some other pages such as Parents (magazine) that they didn't include headers and initially I tried following that format. In either case I will look everything over, rewrite and try again. Once I rewrite my text would it be okay for me to post it here for your review? I can also notify Topher385 on their page to also view. I'm finding all of this a challenging but stimulating process and I very much look forward to having my first page accepted someday. Thank you for your help. Neboza 17:52, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
Hey
I don't wanna get you involved in anything but I'm starting to get really confused. Ipodnano05 told me that I can't use reviews from sites like "MTV.com", "Country Universe.net" and many other sites but yet I look at a lot of the pages he makes contributions to like The Time of Our Lives (EP), "The Story of Us (song)" and many other pages and they use them and they are all "Good Articles". Is he playing games with me? I'm really confused and I'm scared of getting in trouble for listening to someone's advise but they maybe doing it to make me look bad. I just don't know I'm really confused. JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 17:24, 8 August 2011 (UTC)
- I see no reason why you couldn't use those sites. Please link me to the conversation. CTJF83 17:27, 8 August 2011 (UTC)
- Here's one another one that confused me is that I he told me I wasn't allowed to post the Taylor Swift Karaoke and the ones on the Hannah Montana soundtrack and all the other ones shouldn't be added but he added the on on the Hannah Montana soundtrack, he uploaded [File:HMKaraokeCover.jpg] that conversation is here and since then he's ignored me. JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 17:34, 8 August 2011 (UTC)
Here's the one he told me I couldn't use them. Sorry took me awhile to find it. JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 17:42, 8 August 2011 (UTC)
- I don't want to get you involved or anyone in trouble. You (besides my friend black yoshi) have been one of the nicest contributors I've talked to and I'm just feeling really lost and confused about what I'm suppose to do. JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 17:47, 8 August 2011 (UTC)
- First don't ever worry about "getting in trouble" on here...you can't get in trouble. That image is a non-free image, so therefore its use is extremely limited. So the image should only be on the album page. I don't see the user saying you can't use MTV..but as far as Country Universe, it looks like a well established site, so I see no problem in using official reviews, no comments by readers. Especially if you can find the site being referenced in GA or FA articles. Feel free to come to me when ever you have issues! CTJF83 17:51, 8 August 2011 (UTC)
Thanks man. I'm really trying to get the hang of Wikipedia and I'd actually like to try and make a GA at least once on here lol! And yeah I will come to if I need to. JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 17:55, 8 August 2011 (UTC)
- This is the page I'm working on: Sparks Fly (song). JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 18:08, 8 August 2011 (UTC)
Okay I'm off here for awhile Ipodnano05 won't stop. He just wrote this on the Teardrops on My Guitar about the Cover section I added: Cover Version: A section for this? No. Most artists get covered by Kidz Bop and it's never even stated in the articles. NOT NEEDED and that's a lie cause the Love Story (Taylor Swift song) does and he made that a GA article. I'm gonna be off here for awhile Ipodnano05 is starting to scare me and I'm worried he's gonna get me blocked for doing what's on articles he's done and made GA. I don't think he wants anyone but himself doing it that's what it's starting to feel like to me cause of how he's purposely misinformed me and now this. JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 07:39, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
- You won't be blocked. I highly doubt you've done anything even close to being blocked. Arguing/debating with another user won't get you blocked. So stand with your convictions. CTJF83 17:22, 9 August 2011 (UTC)
I think he likes to cause problems. He's giving me another issue on a subject about a remix that was released as a single. ref:http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/youre-not-sorry-csi-remix/id307056209?i=307056270&ign-mpt=uo%3D4 to me it should be posted as such cause it was released to promote her appearance on CSI. He really scares me JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 10:49, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
- Hmm, can't help ya there....I'm not sure how remixes are listed in articles. CTJF83 11:44, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
All I did was post it as a promotional single as that's pretty much what it was. JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 11:51, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
- Gotta stupid question here and the answer is probably yes but I feel better asking anyway. I requested a page be moved to a new page and it was posted on the talk page and it's been seven 7 days and no one has opposed the move it was actually supported. Is it okay that I move it now or should I wait? JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 12:11, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
- Yep...was busy that last day, so didn't respond timely. CTJF83 11:37, 11 August 2011 (UTC)
It's okay. Got another question someone posted a UK volume of Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated Is that okay? JamesAlan1986 (talk-contribs) 11:45, 11 August 2011 (UTC)
- Ya, usually the release dates for US/Canada, UK/Europe, and Australia/South America are listed with DVD releases The_Simpsons_(season_9)#DVD_release. All 4 are the primary English speaking countries, since this isn't Ameripedia. :) CTJF83 20:35, 11 August 2011 (UTC)
LOL! That's cool well someone added it so I moved it to a new box for the UK ones though I'm betting it'll be the same as the US one and if it is I'll just put the release date with the other volumes but right now it's unknown what'll be on it. LGBT Parents Magazine
Hello CTJF83,
I just realized that I needed to write my message under August not July which I did accidentally last night. Thanks for contacting Topher385 the user who declined my submission Gay Parents Magazine. I'm finding all of this a challenging but stimulating process and I very much look forward to having my first page accepted someday. Thank you for your help. 66.151.103.9 (talk) 15:39, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
- Sure, I will gladly read over your article once you're done. CTJF83 19:22, 17 August 2011 (UTC)
Hello Ctjf83,
I noticed Metrosource, which is another LGBT magazine has a page on Wikipedia. I don't understand why the Metrosource text is acceptable and the one that I submitted on Gay Parent Magazine was not. I referenced professional newspapers throughout the country. I see that they don't reference anyone outside of Metrosource. I'm confused about this. Is there another way that I can submit my writing? For example, can I submit something much shorter? I believe that in my reading up on Wikipedia I saw an option to submit brief articles. I would appreciate your thoughts on this. Thanks.
Neboza 01:16, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
- There could be many reasons why we have that article, but not the one you wrote. As far as I know, the creator didn't submit it to WP:AFC, so no one reviewed it before it was created. This doesn't mean it should be an article, it's just no one has decided to bring it to WP:AfD or anything related. You can resubmit your creation at WP:AFC. Again please put any new text below here, not randomly at the top of the page. CTJF83 15:51, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
Thanks CTJF83,
Would you also suggest that I resubmit it as a stub?
Neboza 16:59, 23 August 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Neboza (talk • contribs)
- Yes, that way you can get a 2nd person to look at it, and your improvements might be good enough to get the article "on the website". CTJF83 17:02, 23 August 2011 (UTC)
Hello CTJF83,
I went to WP:AFC but it doesn't give me the option to create a stub. Instead, it says to create an article. I searched throughout Wikipedia and read alot about stubs but didn't find a place that lets me create and submit a stub. Can you please direct me to that area?
Neboza 03:55, 26 August 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Neboza (talk • contribs)
- That's the correct place. A stub is a stub article, so go ahead and submit it at WP:AFC :) CTJF83 21:32, 27 August 2011 (UTC)
Hello CTJF83, I submitted the stub article titled Gay Parents magazine. There is currently a template which says it's a new article waiting for review. Would you be able to review it? Thank you, Neboza 22:30, 31 August 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Neboza (talk • contribs)
- Sorry, that would probably cause a conflict of interest since you came to me about the situation. We don't want me to approve it, and then someone raises an issue with it down the road. CTJF83 23:08, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
Hi CTJF83, I completely understand and agree. Thanks for your guidance. Neboza 16:44, 2 September 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Neboza (talk • contribs)

Speedy deletion declined: Spier Wine Farm
Hello Ctjf83. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Spier Wine Farm, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: The article makes a credible assertion of importance or significance, sufficient to pass A7. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 20:38, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
- You by chance look at the deletion log? CTJF83 20:39, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
- Actually, I hadn't, but now that I have it doesn't change my mind. You nominated the article as A7, and I think it does assert significance or importance ("Of all Cape Dutch farms in the Cape, most of them with their own centre and end gables, it is Spier that boasts the greatest number of them: 21 in total, all beautifully preserved", according to architectural historian Dr Hans Fransen). Try PROD or AfD. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 20:52, 6 November 2011 (UTC)
- Actually after I posted that, I was thinking AfD, but it may pass as a keep, so I'll leave it for now :) CTJF83 21:06, 6 November 2011 (UTC)

Image copyright claim
I realize you uploaded it quite a while ago, but do you have a source for the assertion that File:Iowa Senate districts.jpg is Public Domain? --Philosopher Let us reason together. 02:27, 12 November 2011 (UTC)
- Ditto for File:Iowa House districts.jpg. --Philosopher Let us reason together. 02:28, 12 November 2011 (UTC)
- Ya, I have no idea, lol. I know someone, no idea who anymore, told me to tag it as that. I really have no desire to try and look through archives of conversations (it wasn't on my talk, I looked already) and try and find out who said it. I'll see if I can find a status on it within a day or two, and then you can delete it or what ever needs to be done. The map will actually be outdated, next year anyway. CTJF83 12:42, 12 November 2011 (UTC)
- I hope I'm not the one who told you... I've uploaded copyright-correct, and perfectly detailed, maps for the new districts over at Commons (here and here), but I've been unable to find any way to make them for the old districts other than creating one manually. *shudder* Oh, well. If there's no source, I can just put the new maps on those pages instead of these old ones. --Philosopher Let us reason together. 23:59, 12 November 2011 (UTC)
- I checked your and my talk archive, and I didn't find anything about it....although if I have an Iowa question I usually come to you, irregardless, not blaming you...I say just go with the new ones, don't they take affect in January, or not til January 2013? CTJF83 00:02, 13 November 2011 (UTC)
- Okay, I'll just go with the new ones. As for when they go into effect, it depends on how you look at it. Sure about "vandalism"?
Regarding this revert, the editor you reverted commented here that their edit was valid and the label "vandalism" seemed wholly unjustified. I agree - so I improved the sentence rather than deleting. My guess is that this was just a slip of your mouse, but thought you should be aware - no action necessary now. Cheers! -- Scray (talk) 00:41, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

PR
Hello!
I saw your PR request, and first I have to say congrats on getting this far. I won't be doing the review, but I'll may give a pointer or two, and suggest a correction for the damage I've done earlier. That green bridge thing is on list 5 times. I put it there, and must have been out of my mind. My thinking must have been - get a picture at all costs to complete the list. Well that didn't work - did it! I was probably correct in that the bridge downtown replaced each of those sites, but I'd think that one calm picture of the bridge would be much better, and maybe multiple pictures where the buildings actually were would be very much better. Sorry to ask you to clean up my mess.
General pointers - Fully illustrated list and WP:FL are two different things. It does NOT need to be fully illustrated to be FL. FL will likely focus on the text above the list, would it at least make a start article? (probably better), with proper formatting, etc. The strength of this list is that you've got more than enough pix and especially, all the red-links are gone - linking to real articles. Both those are - to my understanding - well above their requirements already. Of course I love fully illustrated lists - but that is only for WP:NRHP. So in short, get rid of those green bridge pix, and work on the introductory text. Good luck. Smallbones (talk) 21:47, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
PS and the summary column is outstanding too. Say hi to Farragutful if he stops by. Smallbones (talk) 21:51, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for your input. Whenever I'm not lazy, I plan on looking through books at the library to see if I can find archived pictures of the tore down buildings. I will remove the green bridge pics and expand the lead when I look at other similar FL lists, thanks agian! CTJF83 21:56, 22 November 2011 (UTC)

Puck
If you look at the various Glee character pages, you'll see that full names are used for all the Glee significant others. It makes no sense for Puck to have only one name while everyone else's name is spelled out. It should be listed as "Noah 'Puck' Puckerman." Please stop changing it on Santana's, Quinn's and Lauren's pages, at least don't change it again until you have consensus (by bringing it to the talk page and getting other people's opinions on it first). Beggarsbanquet (talk) 15:07, 21 November 2011 (UTC)
- I in fact have a consensus. Why do you think it is named Puck (Glee) and not Noah Puckerman? I shall atempt to find said consensus. CTJF83 15:40, 21 November 2011 (UTC)
- This good enough for you? Or do you want a new consensus. CTJF83 15:46, 21 November 2011 (UTC)
- No, it's not. I'm specifically looking for a consensus that Puck's name should be listed that way under "significant others." His page is named "Puck (Glee)" out of simplicity, because more people are going to be looking for him that way than "Noah 'Puck' Puckerman." Whereas in the significant others section, it simply looks sloppy to have just "Puck" next to the fully-spelled out "Brittany Pierce" or "Finn Hudson." Beggarsbanquet (talk) 17:04, 21 November 2011 (UTC)
- That's cause Puck's last name is rarely mentioned, in fact, why do we need anyone's last names? That's what links are for. Go ahead and comment on the link I gave you. CTJF83 18:56, 21 November 2011 (UTC)
- That is the standard for "significant others" on all character pages. In some fictional universes, there are multiple characters with the same first name and so the full name is necessary. I don't see why I need to comment on the link you gave since, again, the title of Puck's page is a separate discussion from whether or not his listing in "significant others" sections should conform to the established guidelines for those sections. Beggarsbanquet (talk) 01:43, 26 November 2011 (UTC)
- Because, if you don't weigh in on that discussion, the consensus will be made without your input. CTJF83 04:23, 26 November 2011 (UTC)
- No, it won't, because the last post in that discussion was in May 2010 and no one brought up the "significant others listing" issue. There is no discussion on that and therefore no consensus, other than the general guideline with those sections that names should be completely spelled-out, which therefore is how we should abide until there is an alternative consensus. If you want to get consensus for your edits, you need to bring up the significant-others issue specifically. You have no way of knowing that because people think the page should be named "Puck" that that's how they think that all the links to it should read as well. Beggarsbanquet (talk) 23:47, 29 November 2011 (UTC)
- The discussion was Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Television/Glee_task_force#Puck_.28Glee.29, which I linked on your talk page a week ago. I withdraw my objection to how it is listed, due to others weighing in CTJF83 23:50, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

Question about a recent edit
Good afternoon. I was editing this page, and found that my edits were quickly deleted, on the rational that they were unverified. Which part was unverified?JIMfoamy1 (talk) 19:17, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Re:Banner
Well, we had previously decided to limit the project scope to just mainspace articles and not tag every one. The two users who keep adding the tags are not project members and are simply edit-hungry editors looking to up their edit count. We've previously had this discussion, but they decided that they should be able to dictate what our project does and so they re-add them occasionally. I haven't been active much recently, so I was unaware of it until today. -- Scorpion0422 20:30, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
- That's the problem, I've looked for the discussion in the past and haven't found it (it might have occured on IRC, it was a few years ago). Even if I could find it, these users would just say "conensus can change". So, I've started a new one at WT:DOH in hopes of establishing a new consensus.
- By the way, it's been a while since I was last active on wikipedia. So, hi. Are you planning on running for adminship again? -- Scorpion0422 20:53, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
- I've kinda stopped caring about new episodes of The Simpsons. I've seen only two episodes from the new season and have no interest in any of the others. That, combined with school, has lead to a decrease in my editing paterns. With Christmas now on, I might edit a bit more. -- Scorpion0422 21:24, 22 December 2011 (UTC)
I don't know about Lisa the Skeptic, but he does say it in The Joy of Sect. He says "out of my way jerkass" twice, once when he drives by the movementarian greeters, and then a second time when the Movementarians convince him to leave his fishing spot. -- Scorpion0422 19:43, 26 December 2011 (UTC)

Futurama broadcast order
Hello, I believe I've collaborated with you on other pages in the past.
I've noticed you have been behind the push to re-establish broadcast order to Futurama articles. I would strongly suggest that you please stop. You ought to look at Talk:List of Futurama episodes and Talk:Futurama (season 6)/Archive 1 (as well as my response at Talk:Futurama (season 6)). There have been multiple discussions on this matter, and it is clear that the consensus is to maintain the production order. The broadcast order has no actual meaning. It was not the intended order the producers had in mind for the showing, and it has no consistency across different countries. Thegreyanomaly (talk) 08:14, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
- I will respond on the talk page, and this totally violates WP:CANVAS CTJF83 12:49, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
