Question from Odima Osure (22:27, 28 December 2024)
I want to be able to write content for wikipedia how can I achieve this? --Odima Osure (talk) 22:27, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Odima Osure. If you're interested in writing an article, see Help:Your first article. We recommend, however, that new users start with improving existing articles instead — writing an article from scratch is one of the hardest things to do correctly on Wikipedia. Please also consider the note that JBW left on your talk page. Happy editing, C F A 05:09, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
Quick question
Hello,
I was the one who moved Nikolay P. Serdev to its current address. I saw your user on my watchlist, and was wondering what role you played, and if you approved of the move. (3OpenEyes's talk page. Say hi!) | (PS: Have a good day) 00:14, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hi 3OpenEyes. I'm not sure what you saw because it doesn't look like I've ever touched Nikolay P. Serdev. I don't think I would've performed the move myself — usually biographies are kept at the name of the person — but if you think it's best I won't object. How do I add a comment for an XfD?
I'm trying to dip my toes into XfD, but I'm unsure on how to actually add support for keeping, merging, etc. an article or category into the discussion page. Do I edit the source of the discussion page to add it, or is there another way? I'm concerned because I don't see very many recent edits on the edit history of these discussion pages, making me think there's another way editors add their point to a topic. Tylermack999 (talk) 23:38, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Tylermack999. It depends on the venue: WP:AfD and WP:MfD have individual pages for each nomination, while nominations at WP:CfD, WP:FfD, and WP:TfD get their own sections on a central daily log page. AfD and MfD discussion pages might well only have a few edits if participation is low.
- For example, if you wanted to add your support for deletion to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alexandra Rodríguez Long, you would add the following to the bottom of the page:
*'''Delete''': [Your reason for deletion...] ~~~~
- If you wanted to add your support for deletion to Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2024 December 28 § Category:1910s Brazilian film stubs, you would simply click "edit source" for that section and add the same text to the bottom.
- There is also a userscript for this that might make things easier. Hope this helps, C F A 00:19, 30 December 2024 (UTC)

Romanian National Council
Hi and thank you for your message!
If the Romanian National Council is deleted, will I need to change the name of the draft that I am working on when moving it back to mainspace? Aristeus01 (talk) 17:43, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Aristeus01. No, you can move it back to the same title. C F A 19:37, 30 December 2024 (UTC)
Influencer page
Why did you move the “influencer” page to “social media influencer”? I don’t see any discussion happening and influencer is where things seemed to have landed after discussion to create the page. Can you please move it back? Nnev66 (talk) 20:18, 31 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Nnev66. It was originally moved to Social media influencer by InfiniteNexus with the rationale "
WP:BOLDly move recently created article. "Influencer" is short for "social media influencer"; we should be using the full, original, and more formal term.
". A sockpuppet then requested it be moved back to Influencer. I reverted their request per WP:BMB. I've moved it back per your request here, but perhaps the next course of action should be a discussion on the talk page. Happy editing, C F A 20:33, 31 December 2024 (UTC)- Thanks @CFA for explaining what happened. I've created an Article name discussion topic on the Influencer talk page so hopefully a consensus can be reached about this. Nnev66 (talk) 23:33, 31 December 2024 (UTC)
- @InfiniteNexus explained the rationale for his page move request so I’m now not opposed to the move. It’s apparently going to DYK soon, perhaps January 7, so it should be moved back to “Social media influencer”. Not sure if this has been initiated yet. Apologies for the confusion, I just didn’t understand what was going on. Nnev66 (talk) 22:38, 2 January 2025 (UTC)

Question from Skyscraper Aficionado (20:58, 2 January 2025)
Hi, I'm looking to create an article about an approved skyscraper in Milwaukee known as The Edison. However, there is already an article using the name "The Edison". Would "The Edison (Milwaukee)", "The Edison (Building)", or some other variation of the title work? --Skyscraper Aficionado (talk) 20:58, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Skyscraper Aficionado. Yes, something like The Edison (skyscraper) would work. Happy editing, C F A 21:32, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
Question from Royiswariii (03:38, 3 January 2025)
Hello, CFA! I'm consulting about citing a tweet. I'm skeptical about citing a tweet regarding awards and nominations because I'm planning to nominate a list of awards and nominations (which I am currently drafting). Some awards are only acknowledged on social media and not covered in news articles. For example, a boy band or girl group or individual singers etc. may have an award, nominations or honoree, not necessarily a popular one, but their record label acknowledges it through social medi, without any mention or covers in news articles. Is it okay to such sources if they are only from social media? --Royiswariii Talk! 03:38, 3 January 2025 (UTC)
- Hi Royiswariii. The answer to this is generally no.
- Per WP:ABOUTSELF (emphasis mine):
Self-published ... sources may be used as sources of information about themselves, usually in articles about themselves or their activities, ... so long as:
- The material is neither unduly self-serving nor an exceptional claim;
- It does not involve claims about third parties;
- It does not involve claims about events not directly related to the source;
- There is no reasonable doubt as to its authenticity; and
- The article is not based primarily on such sources.
- If a singer's record label posts about the singer winning an award, it most likely involves
claims about third parties
andevents not directly related to the source
, so it would not be an appropriate use of a self-published source. Hope this helps, C F A 02:28, 4 January 2025 (UTC)- Thank you for this answer, CFA! Do you have an idea on Featured List, if a featured list can be nominated on WP:TFA? Royiswariii Talk! 03:24, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
- Featured lists appear on the main page on Mondays and Fridays — see WP:TFL. C F A 04:07, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
- CFA one more about my previous question, I see this [1] which is from news organization ABS-CBN, however, it was from Facebook page and considered it as reliable source per WP:TAMBAY/RS. It can be considered this on List of awards and nominations received by Bini? Royiswariii Talk! 04:40, 4 January 2025 (UTC)
