License tagging for Image:University of the pacific wordmark.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:University of the pacific wordmark.gif. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 03:08, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:University of the pacific wordmark.gif)
Thanks for uploading Image:University of the pacific wordmark.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:05, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
Your recent edits
Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 07:45, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Committee for Plundered Ministers, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.aim25.ac.uk/cats/14/1216.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 23:48, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
Nice input there. Before this was an FA, it had sections on different countries but it was felt it was not universal in scope enough so they were cut. Then it made FA. The more country-specific it becomes, the more problems arise. I wouldn't be surprised if someone reverts that. You may want to start a US specific WB article, cut it yourself, or shorten it, or give it a more world view. Just trying to be helpful here. — Rlevse • Talk • 21:02, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
- If you had the new article cover just the current program, yea, it'd probably not grow very big. But if you through in the history of American-specific WB, it could. If that is what you want to do, remove what you added here and use it for a seed of the new article. Call it Wood Badge (United States). If you look at the 00:03, February 6, 2007 version of the article, you'll find good info on the US part of the program. You may wish to join the Scouting project too, see Wikipedia:WikiProject Scouting/Members. — Rlevse • Talk • 23:54, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
- Done as suggested. Added and merged some facts. Left some room for others to add. btphelps (talk) 02:40, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
- I gave you a poor name, it needs to be Wood Badge (Boy Scouts of America), see talk page, we I'm going to rename it. — Rlevse • Talk • 11:28, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

Image:Nayle.png
Image:Nayle.png has a border at the top and left and has a lot of whitespace. I have cleaned this up and reloaded it using the full name of Image:National Advanced Youth Leadership Experience.png. The old image has been marked as orphaned. --—— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 13:51, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Béla H. Bánáthy
Thanks for your great work on the Béla H. Bánáthy article. If you want to draw some more attention to this expended article, you can nominate the article on Template talk:Did you know. Good luck. -- Marcel Douwe Dekker (talk) 19:57, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
P.S. I made some changes here and there (wikification) which makes the article compatable to all other articles in the field of systems science.
- Thanks for the kind words of appreciation and for cleaning it up. If you can add anything, please do. Will see what I can do with Template talk:Did you know. My first attempt. -- btphelps (talk) 20:32, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
- P.S. If you can suggest an angle that might appeal to Template talk:Did you know, let me know.
- I expanded the article in the past, and will keep it in mind. I trust you can find a good quote. Good luck. -- Marcel Douwe Dekker (talk) 21:32, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hello, Dear brother Scout,
- I am a Scouter from Tyrol and I work on the History of Scouting in this region.
- You wrote that Béla H. Bánáthy was the founder of Scouting in his DP-Camp near Innsbruck. Which camp was this?
- I know about several DP-Scout groups in other camps (including Hungarian) in Tyrol and also about Hungarian Scouts-in-Exile in Tyrol. Can we chat per mail: philipp.lehar@gmx.net Yours in Scouting-Phips (talk) 15:53, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

Pal Teleki in European Union article
Your recent addition to European Union, which is already rather long, would perhaps be better in Federal Europe.--Boson (talk) 06:05, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- I've just seen that a large edit of yours has been reverted. Although, I agree with the revert, I wanted to encourage you to find an accurate place for this well composed, informative, and properly sourced expose. I hope that you understand the resistance to have such large prose expand the history section of the EU article by 50%, while (all together) it is not more than just related to the idea of the EU. Tomeasy T C 16:28, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
np, thanks for the input, have added it as suggested to Federal Europe. Though on taking a second look, the Federal Europe article is little more than a stub, adds little content of value, and appears to overlap the purpose of European Union article. My little contribution doubled the size of the article, and I'm not sure why it exists. I'd move to have it merged with the EU article. -- btphelps (talk) (contribs) 16:56, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- Your help in improving the Federal Europe article is more than appreciate. Please, build on it. It is meant as an article on pan-european ideas beyond the EU. Therefore, I would not like to merge them as it would diffuse the EU article (so far on a very concrete subject, the EU) to cover all kinds of issues that deal with the idea of a politically integrated European continent. I think the EU article should certainly keep its very specific focus. Tomeasy T C 17:23, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
Hmm, I wonder if it's not more appropriate for History of the European Union and Pre-1945 ideas on European unity. I added a version of the text to the latter. -- btphelps (talk) (contribs) 17:38, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- I agree that the latter is also appropriate, but I would refrain from doubling text. Tomeasy T C 18:14, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
This is coming along very nicely. Work the lead into a summary of the article and it shouldn't be hard to get it to WP:GA status. — Rlevse • Talk • 12:34, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hey, thanks for positive comments, I sincerely appreciate it. I'm adding some more information over the next few days and will touch up the lead too. -- btphelps (talk) (contribs) 19:06, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
- I think it's ready for WP:GAC now. Either split the lead into two paragraphs or add more and make a second paragraph in the lead. — Rlevse • Talk • 09:54, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
- Split the lead paragraph as suggested. I learned yesterday that Green Bar Bill was dead set against moving away from the Scoutcraft focus of Wood Badge and strongly resisted this change. I am looking for sources on this and hope to be able to add this info at some point. -- btphelps (talk) (contribs) 15:24, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
- I've taken this as far as I can based on currently available information. I believe it needs to be nominated or WP:GAC by a third party, and if you think it qualifies, I'd be honored. -- btphelps (talk) (contribs) 21:50, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
It's perfectly allowed to nominate articles you wrote for GAC and FAC. Just to make sure, do you want to or do you want me to? — Rlevse • Talk • 10:00, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
- Good chance for me to learn how. I'll do it, thanks. Do you think White Stag Leadership Development Program is ready for consideration? -- btphelps (talk) (contribs) 16:16, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
- The info is there, but it's too "listy". Make it more prose. To nom the WBUSA article, see WP:GAC. — Rlevse • Talk • 18:52, 31 October 2008 (UTC)
- Less "listy" it is, please take another look. Thanks. If you have time, perhaps you would be willing to review it and/or the Wood Badge (Boy Scouts of America) articles for GA status? -- btphelps (talk) (contribs) 03:57, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
Note that the GA Nomination is incomplete. Please follow the directions at WP:GAN to add the nomination to the article's talk page. Thanks! Jclemens (talk) 21:56, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the pointer, as this is my first time submitting an article for Good Article review. Talk page updated as required. -- btphelps (talk) (contribs) 22:46, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
Made GA, congrats! — Rlevse • Talk • 23:08, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
Maintenance templates and categories
Hi}}, Just to let you know that most maintenance categories are put in articles by use of tags for example:
{{unref}} adds Category:Articles lacking sources (or one of its sub categories).
Also adding the category explicitly is counter productive, as it needs to be removed.

Hijacking of Userbox OneManOneWoman
Thank you for your reply. I'm glad Wikipedia has good-mannered, legitimate editors like yourself. And good job on fixing image. Mrbell (talk)
- Update - I understand we all might have the same point of view, and will all strive to approach each article as NPOV, but how far should one struggle against another's point of view (User_talk:UBX/onemanonewoman), since an ensuing argument will indeed be purely POV? Mrbell (talk) 18:27, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
- The anonymous user Waraji who made the change, while antipathetic to the point of view that marriage is about one man and one woman, does not seem inclined to make another change to the image at this time. I don't wish to engage in edit wars, I have better things to do with my time. I'll let things sit where they are. There are alternative user boxes available to us should Waraji hijack it again. Thanks for keeping an eye on it. -- btphelps (talk) (contribs) 01:33, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
Good Advice
The page in dispute is User_talk:UBX/onemanonewoman. I felt the comments there were inappropriate for Wikipedia's standards and I reverted those with a comment of "POV deleted, please limit comments to improvements of the UserBox."[[1]]
From what I read, user pages are generally used for "information about themselves...location...likes, dislikes," right? So I understand anyone can have some general opinions on their user page.
However, UBX pages don't appear to be normal user pages, but rather hosted by the administrator Mets501 for the "Userbox Migration". Therefore, can I assume the discussion page content should abide by Wikipedia standards, or can anyone write what they choose?
In the end, I think you're right. I'll take your advice and delete the comment off my discussion page and ignore the individual. Thank you again. MrBell (talk) 05:59, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
- Waraji's at it again (this time, the template on my page). You might be interested in this. MrBell (talk) 17:41, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

South West Pacific theatre of World War II References Edit
It appears your recent edit removed the page references from the footnotes on this article. Please let me know if I am missing some clever way to retrieve this information in the present edit. That reference adjustment seems to needlessly sacrifice important information in the case of larger books. What is the reason for your edit? Thewellman (talk) 15:40, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
- If you will look in the body of the text, you will see the page references were preserved alongside the link to the reference. I used the reference page template {{rp|NNN}} which allows you to use the same reference for multiple page references. This solves the problem of multiple references listed that point the same source. I tried to be extremely careful, comparing the original to the edited version, before I saved it. I think I got them all correct. You can always check the page history. -- btphelps (talk) (contribs) 23:16, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you. Very nicely done. Thewellman (talk) 09:09, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Digger Phelps (the band)
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Digger Phelps (the band), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
- nonnotable band, lack of coverage by (online) reliable sources
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. --PeaceNT (talk) 11:21, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
- Go ahead and delete it, I was just preserving someone else's work who replaced the article on Coach Digger Phelps with this article on the band. -- btphelps (talk) (contribs) 17:03, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
Think you can get this to GA status? Our Girl Scout/Guide articles are much weaker than the boy side of things. — Rlevse • Talk • 20:52, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
- I'm sincerely flattered that would ask, thanks! I might have time later in December for a copy edit to improve the quality of the style, but I don't have time for additional research to bolster the facts. I'm currently working on some other priorities right now, including a book of my own and a couple of family-related articles on the 32nd Divison and 106th Cavalry Group. Would a fresh pair of eyes on the copy edit be helpful? -- btphelps (talk) (contribs) 00:12, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
- Oh yes, any help is good. — Rlevse • Talk • 00:41, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
