Speedy deletion nomination of Sierra Repertory Theatre
[edit]A tag has been placed on Sierra Repertory Theatre requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Ironholds (talk) 02:14, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
Ironholds did not delete your article (he's not an admin), he only marked it as a candidate for deletion. You can ask to have it undeleted here: Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion --NeilN talk to me 15:39, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
Actually, I found an old copy of your article in the wrong Wikipedia "project space" and copied it here for you to work on User:Bsimonis/sandbox. I'll be marking the old copy for deletion. --NeilN talk to me 16:00, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the assist. I cannot find a reason for the deletion since there are other non-profit theatres with entries in Wikipedia. If you have any suggestions for how I can improve the article I'd appreciate it! Thanks.
- The reason was, "Article about a company, corporation, organization, or group, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject". Basically, you need to provide references (e.g., links to newspaper articles) that write about the theatre. --NeilN talk to me 16:26, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, I found a couple. Would you like me to add them to the version in your user space and then move the article to article space? --NeilN talk to me 16:30, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
That would be great. There are a number of newspaper articles about the theatre, but nowhere is it clear that it is what is requested. I thought the references to the groups (TCG and Actor's Equity) would suffice. Thanks for the assist on this, I have a better understanding of what is required for an entry.
- Hey there; I didn't actually delete it, User:Seraphimblade. I'd suggest asking him (sorry I can't be more help!). Ironholds (talk) 23:40, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
Hi, I noticed you added two links to the sandbox version. Unfortunately, neither of them proves notability. The first one goes to a kind of "Yellow Pages" listing and the second only mentions the theatre in passing. What is needed is some more like this --NeilN talk to me 01:28, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
Do you have access to this newspaper article [1]? If so, is the any content you can incorporate into this article? --NeilN talk to me 01:39, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
How about an article in the local newspaper such as this: http://www.modbee.com/scene/story/968354.html I thought that a reference from a university would have more credibility than a newspaper... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.37.137.86 (talk) 04:30, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
- No, again, the mention is incidental. Think of your local indie movie theatre. If a newspaper mentioned a new movie was playing there, that wouldn't mean the theatre was notable. What we need, quoting from WP:GNG, is "Significant coverage [which] means that sources address the subject directly in detail... Significant coverage is more than a trivial mention but it need not be the main topic of the source material." --NeilN talk to me 06:48, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
I see you've added more references. That should be enough to establish notability so I've moved the article here Sierra Repertory Theatre and blanked your sandbox page. --NeilN talk to me 06:55, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
Cool! Thanks for all of the help on this, obviously I couldn't have done it alone! Bert.

File permission problem with File:Front Porch logo.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Front Porch logo.png, which you've attributed to A VRT notice was applied over 60 day(s) ago, but no message at VRTS has been found since this tag was applied.. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Ronhjones (Talk) 16:02, 3 August 2014 (UTC)
The file File:Front Porch logo.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Unused logo with no article used, it's also can't move to commons because of an unused logo will be deleted as of out of project scope.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Willy1018 (talk) 14:04, 27 December 2018 (UTC)

- Hi Bsimonis, the writing can be remedied but the sources are key to establishing notability. Do you have access to a library and are inclined to make the effort? Wikipedia does have a library but you do not have enough edits to get access. I have access and don't mind doing some digging but would rather you be involved (and it will take me while). S0091 (talk) 18:51, 12 October 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for replying. Yes, I have access to a library, but it will be next week before I can get there. I will go to work on re-writing in the meantime. I appreciate your assistance, Charles Du Bois was an important architect in Palm Springs and the legacy he has left behind is impressive. Unfortunately, most of these mid-century architects did not think they were important at the time they were working and so didn't publicize themselves... Bsimonis (talk) 18:53, 12 October 2022 (UTC)
- Frank Lloyd Wright may offer some clues for sources. Also check Google Books. You need some coverage about him outside of the Palm Springs area. No rush, other than your own timeline. The draft will be available for six months after the last human edit and can be restored at anytime after that. Feel free to ping me (just click the "Reply" link, then the last icon that looks like a person, select my user name, be sure to sign the message or the ping will not work) or you are welcome to post on note on my talk page if you need any help. Also, the Teahouse is the best place for general editing questions. S0091 (talk) 19:08, 12 October 2022 (UTC)
