Wonderful memories shared

Hello B. As one who appreciates the theatre (especially Will's plays) I think you will enjoy reading the memories that O shared with me in this thread User talk:Onel5969#A thank you then.2C now and for the future. A real treat. Cheers. MarnetteD|Talk 20:05, 11 January 2017 (UTC)

BTW Shakespeare Live! was marvelous. Sadly PBS cut about 15 minutes of it for their broadcast. So the UK DVD is on its way to me so I can enjoy what I missed AND I will get to enjoy the "Hamlets" telling each other how to perform "To be..." over and over again :-) MarnetteD|Talk 20:05, 11 January 2017 (UTC)
Thanks Marnette. What a wonderful story. I think the best I have to offer is that I bumped into Colin Farrell once in the street. Literally, he was coming out of a hotel and I was walking by, and I bumped into him! Not quite as good as sharing an evening with Olivier. Glad you enjoyed Shakespeare Live. The DVD is excellent. Question & suggestion

Happy Saturday B. I have been reading the Shakespeare: The Animated Tales article and am intrigued by the series. I thought I would ask if you've seen it and what you think of it. The price is reasonable (especially with the current exchange rate) and I am thinking of budgeting for it. The suggestion comes from my finding this redirect. I thoroughly enjoyed this series and am glad to have it in my DVD collection. I thought "if anyone could create an article for it" it would be the person who worked their magic on BBC Television Shakespeare. No obligation of course and I know you are busy with other things but I thought I would mention it in case it ever piques your interest. Best regards. MarnetteD|Talk 19:10, 11 March 2017 (UTC)

Hey Marnette, sent you an email about this (and some other stuff - nothing conspiratorial or anything, don't get excited. Just some stuff, I'd rather keep off-Wiki). Bertaut (talk) 02:27, 12 March 2017 (UTC)

Re:PC Gamer scans

Hey again! I don't personally own those magazines (my collection is mostly Electronic Gaming Monthly, Next Generation and Official PlayStation Magazine), but you can find PC Gamer's entire August 1994 issue scanned here. The magazine's Settlers III review was published online here, and the Fourth Edition review is here. Unfortunately, the PC Gamer US and UK reviews for Heritage of Kings, and PC Gamer UK's review of The Settlers, aren't online (to my knowledge).

As an aside, I retrieved those online PC Gamer US reviews from resources linked in the online print archive. The indexes there are a great starting point for spelunking in the Wayback Machine, where many magazines' old reviews are still accessible. Best of luck with the articles. JimmyBlackwing (talk) 05:10, 19 September 2017 (UTC)

That's great Jimmy. Very much appreciate that info. I was unaware of that online print archive so that'll be extremely useful. I was just using Wayback's own search engine, which isn't overly helpful. Anyway, again, thanks for the info, really appreciate it. Bertaut (talk) 16:36, 19 September 2017 (UTC)

Age of kings

Just as a background on the international screenings of "Age of Kings" and why I added them again - I do see your point that it may not be so relevant, certainly not on the English pages. But there was a rather frustrating moment for me when I was asked for proof for the words "international success" on that page and Spread of the Eagle on threat of immediate deletion. That's why I went back to that. Of course, what can be cited depends a bit on whether a country has online newspapers available. (Personally I am prepared to bet money that it also aired in Canada.) Meanwhile, I can add the channels / stations if you think that makes it better. Spiny Norman (talk) 11:10, 26 October 2017 (UTC)

Hey Spiny Norman, sorry about the delay in getting back to you, but I haven't been on Wiki for a day or two. To answer your question above, I certainly don't think it would do any harm to add the channels, so go for it. Bertaut (talk) 16:57, 27 October 2017 (UTC)
Okay, I'm not sure if the names will mean much to most people, but it can't hurt. Done. Thanks for the input. Spiny Norman (talk) 19:21, 28 October 2017 (UTC)
That's grand; the more factual information the better. Cheers. Bertaut (talk) 02:47, 29 October 2017 (UTC)

Redirects

If you believe a redirect should be removed, please take it to WP:RFD instead. Blanking a redirect is usually considered disruptive. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk • contribs) 03:51, 3 November 2017 (UTC)

Clearly that was a simple mistake on my part, which I would have rectified if you'd have given me ten seconds to do so. Bertaut (talk) 03:53, 3 November 2017 (UTC)

Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays
From Stave one of Dickens A Christmas Carol

Old Marley was as dead as a door-nail. Mind! I don’t mean to say that I know, of my own knowledge, what there is particularly dead about a door-nail. I might have been inclined, myself, to regard a coffin-nail as the deadest piece of ironmongery in the trade. But the wisdom of our ancestors is in the simile; and my unhallowed hands shall not disturb it, or the Country’s done for. You will therefore permit me to repeat, emphatically, that Marley was as dead as a door-nail.

So you see even Charles was looking for a reliable source :-) Thank you for your contributions to the 'pedia. ~ MarnetteD|Talk 23:43, 23 December 2017 (UTC)
Thank you kind sir. I was actually going to leave you a note on your talk page wishing you the best, but then I thought, "no, he always leaves it on my talk page. Don't break with tradition, lest we get into an edit war over who gets to wish who a Happy Christmas first." Well, I've seen people argue about less on here!! So, all the best to yourself and family, hope you enjoy the holidays. Bertaut (talk) 03:25, 24 December 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for the chuckle :-) I hope your 2018 is delightful. MarnetteD|Talk 03:43, 24 December 2017 (UTC)
